- 1. Michelle Martin Twitter Assignment- #2 Steven Anderson is the co-creator of #edchat and is one of the top 50 innovators in education. As I reviewed his tweets, technology was a common theme. I am sure this is one of the top 50 innovators in education. I found several valuable articles and tools to use to include social media in the classroom. One such article was about utilizing twitter in the classroom to continue classroom discussion after class. Another ideal use for twitter was to use it to find experts on certain topics. This article gave a detailed list of tools to help get your class started using of twitter, along with several safety features. I feel this would be a great tool for students in high school and some instances with middle school students. However, I do not feel this would be a great tool to use in elementary school. The second article had some really great tools. It talked about using multiple different types of social media. I found it interesting and could be very useful in my teaching career. The first identified tool was facebook. This provides a moderated avenue for discussion. Safety tips
- 2. were also provided. Twitter was discussed as above. Instagram can be used to post pictures and can be an avenue utilized to post assignments. You tube is also another tool. It was identified that students prefer this avenue over teacher lecturing in person because they can review this multiple times. I agree this would be great. I have utilized this method and the students were very receptive to this avenue of instruction. To utilize this at the elementary age level it would have to be brought down to their level. This is a key tool to making learning fun.
