To Mrs. Cinco, our COPT adviser, for the warm accommodation and all-embracing
patience and guidance. Thank you for letting us use and pester the speech laboratory for two
months.
To Mrs. Batausa, School Principal, for the very wholehearted welcome. Thank you for
assenting to bear with us for a quiet a number of weeks.
To Mrs. Masendo, Science coordinator, for offering a motherly care while we are at the

To Mrs. Osano, my cooperating teacher, for painstakingly checking my lesson plans and
guiding me with my lessons and proposing suggestions for me to progress. Thank you for letting

I N T R O D U C T I O N
Practice teaching is the practical implementation of the information and strategies that
students have learned. The student teacher practice what they have learned and are supervised by
teachers from the college, cooperating teacher and school principals.
The purpose of Practice Teaching is to produce qualified teachers that are equipped and
skilled in their chosen year level. Another reason is to prepare student teachers for their career as
teachers by immersing them completely into the school atmosphere so that they will have the feel
of what it would be like to be an actual teacher.
I attended the seventh grade classes at Lapinigan National High School, which is located
in the Lapinigan town of San Francisco, a predominantly upper-middle class community. With
the new curriculum, students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences. As a result
they gain a wealth of skills, vast amounts of knowledge, and a genuine life-long love for learning.
There are opportunities for students to pursue their interests through before and after school
activities such as Dancing or Singing club, and numerous in-school enrichment activities such as
the Student Council, or Math Olympiad. Children participate in these activities based on personal
interest, and are expected to balance both extracurricular activities and academic curriculum.
Some activities involve parent support, and parents are usually actively engaged with the students
either through the home or school, or both. The school also seems to strive to provide an
environment where individual attention is given to all those who need it.
Each classroom seemed to encourage an atmosphere where students were invited to share
their learning and bring in personal interests. The desks were grouped in clusters, with about 8 to
10 chairs in each row.
According to the seventh grade teachers in the school, seventh grade was as an academic
leap for many students. Seventh grade was when school became more “academic”, meaning
students started to be held more accountable to their learning by taking tests, student’s

responsibility for homework increased relative to earlier grades, and paragraph and essay writing
became an important part of their success in all content areas.
My entire practice teaching journey became more challenging and exciting because of the
students. This was another venue for me to enhance my teaching skills and to meet various people
with different personalities. I also had the chance to be mentored by the best Science Teacher in
the school, Mrs. Nida Osano. With her guidance, my entire voyage turns out to be smooth sailing.
MY PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION
AS A SECONDARY TEACHER
The current curriculum offers a variety of opportunities for students to become themselves
and do the things they love. Teachers don’t enforce beliefs on students mind instead they became
the facilitators through which students can form their own belief and eventually develop their
own character.
When I echo on King’s statement, I think of my friends and the people I most respect. I
am strained to them by forces beyond intellect and success. I admire their character strengths, the
values they hold, and how they treat me as a fellow human being. So when we think of education
in the broadest sense of the word, it is important to consider how kids develop character during
childhood and adolescence that determine the kind of adults they become.

My practice teaching in LNHS would be incomplete without the assistance of my
cooperating teacher, Mrs. Nida P. Osano. She helped me with everything from classroom
management to lesson planning. Considering that teaching is my second profession, she never
showed desertion while I was her student teacher. Instead, she encouraged me to become a better
teacher and pushed me to give all that I could I order to perform well.
Teaching Strategies. Before our practice teaching, my knowledge about teaching
strategies was only limited and is encapsulated from the books content. With the guidance of my
CT I was able to look deeper into it and discovered the various teaching strategies I could use for
my class. She let me find my footing first and when she saw that I can do it in my own, she
slowly pave the way for me to do my thing and handle the class in my own pace.
Classroom Management. I never thought that I couldn’t handle the seventh grader, but
when reality strike I clearly saw that it is somehow hard to manage those petite beings. My CT
taught me to use “rewards and punishment” method in order to handle my class. With every good
behavior I reward them with additional points while unnecessary behaviors are rewarded with
deductions. This is how I manage my class and it is already been tested and proven.
Lesson Planning. Lesson planning is the bible in teaching. My CT never failed to correct
my lesson plans. She always made sure that everything is being utilized. Together, we explore
possible options on how we can deliver the lesson in a lively and timely manner.

Teaching for me is like being a shepherd and the students are my flock. As a shepherd, I
am held responsible for my flock. I have to make sure that everyone is all accounted for, that
everyone is healthy and well while they are at my watch. I serve as the students guide as they
walk across an uncertain path; whenever a sheep is lost I have to make sure that he/she will be
back on track to keep up with the other sheep. I also have to keep them well groomed and make
sure that everything about them from head to toe is tidy including their surroundings.
Teaching for me is like being a Game Master. I have to prepare educational games for my
students for them to be enticed with the topic. As a game master, I must see to it that everyone is
abiding the games mechanics that everyone is participating and most importantly everyone is
having fun.
Lastly, teaching for me is like being an actress. I should be able to present myself with
poise and confidence in everything that I do. I have to look my best in every class appearances.
And even though I am not feeling well or I am not in the mood to teach I still must act like there
is no problem. Like an actress, the class must always go on in spite of of any interruptions.
Teaching is indeed a noble profession because teachers must go an extra mile in order to
deliver quality learning to their students. It is a kind of job that many have ventured but only few
has managed to fulfill the real duty. Teaching is a profession that extends beyond the realms in
the four corners of the classroom. In teaching we impose discipline and strict compliance with the
school’s policy but at the same time we also show mercy and compassion towards our students.
In teaching, we don’t just teach-we care.

The CHICKEN DANCE. I will never forget the chicken dance because I get to push even my
toughest student to perform the dance. There was one student who will forever haunt my memory; it was
Diaz from section Archimedes. He performed the chicken dance with powerful perseverance to be noticed
without knowing that he is the only one doing it in front of the class. For a few minutes the classroom
bursted to laughter and my face turned red because I couldn’t stop myself from laughing.
The GRAND DEMO DAY. Grand demonstration teaching is the final test for us student teachers.
Our months’ work will finally be evaluated. Every resources and effort is being invested just for our Grand
Demonstration. Days before my grand demonstration teaching, I suddenly felt ill and uneasy. I was a bit
furious because I still have lots of things to accomplish with a limited amount of time. Everyone in the
speech laboratory was busy writing in a manila paper, mumbling their scripts, cutting their visual aids, editing
their lesson plans and researching about their topic. This made me even more frantic and anxious. Finally
our grand demo day has arrived! Suddenly I was confronted by projector issues and it was almost time for
me to teach. Luckily, I have quite a handful of friends who helped and assisted me. Over-all my grand
demonstration teaching went well and ended up with flying colors.
The NARRA INCIDENT. It was supposed to be my last teaching day in Section Narra when
suddenly an incident happened and my decision making skills was put to test. One student from the said
section was suffering from an intense headache because of an uncanny event in the toilet which ended up
hitting her head on the toilet’s door.
