School Lunch Policy Analysis
Our bodies require fuel only obtainable from food, so it s vital to stay pay attention to the political
aspects that affect how and where we get our food. It s important to note the youth in America have
little say in how or where their school lunches come from and how it affects them. This is a
contributing factor in the poor investment the current public schoollunchprogram has become today.
This is an article from The Washington Post regarding the effects of USDA mandates on school
lunches. The writer provides some background concerning the guidelines of the new mandates, then
proceeds to display the effects with a large sample of students. Very useful to tie governmental
mandates, eating habits, and food waste together. Lacks any ... Show more content on

As most fact based and opinion avoiding source, it provides plenty of statistical evidence to
strength the credibility of claims. Provides many topics to expand on. That being said, it lacks a

This article by Great Schools is addressed to parents considered about the current school lunches
provided to the children in their district. Unlike any other source, this one focuses solely on 3
organizations that advocate. The diversity of the listed projects gives an opportunity to expand on
different approaches to solve the various problems of the lunch program. However, there is no
attempt to address the current issues of our system, requiring a previous understanding of how the
school lunch system currently operates.
This is an article published by The New York Times concerning the Healthy, Hunger Free Kids Act.
Became the only article to question the taste of school lunches. While hitting valid points, the
writer is highly opinionated. Briefly covers the relationship between the child s mindset and eating

Rene Descartes Dreaming Argument Essay
Dreaming Argument
Dreaming is something we all are subject to. Every night when we lay down in our beds we
dream, now whether or not we can remember our dreams is a different story. Dreams can be very
realistic and they have been speculated and researched but we know little about our dreams, what
they mean, and the sensations or feelings they provide for us. As far as we know dreaming is our
unconscious mind acting out desires, possibly because we cannot do them or experience those
events in our waking life. Since dreaming is so under researched and we know little about it, it
has been speculated by many people. Rene Descartes go in depth on this subject and his ideas
on what dreaming is arguing that we cannot distinguish the difference between being awake and
being asleep. That is a very bold statement and put in a seemingly simplistic way, recorded in his
first meditations. What Descartes does is challenge our preconceived notions of dreaming and
puts us in the frame of mind to answer for ourselves if we are dreaming right now or are we
actually experiencing reality. Descartes makes us come face to face with the reality that we
actually don t know if we are dreaming. His claims that we may be dreaming is a well known
philosophical argument in the Western world and I hope to discover the truth behind his argument
and shed light on how I perceive his philosophy on the dreaming world. I will shed light on this
dream argument by interpreting what Descartes says, other

Three Cups Of Tea By Mortenson
Mortenson in Motion As I delved into Mortenson s personal saga in Three Cups of Tea, my
understanding of both this region of the world and Islam increased. Several themes in these
chapters caught my attention. The themes I was most interested in were the position of women,
the importance of education in this region, and the true meaning of Islam. Three Cups of Tea
showed me the true roots of Islam and the cultural practices associated with this area. This book
made me withdraw my prejudices and form a new opinion about the inhabitants of this region. As a
woman, I was extremely interested in the status of women in both Islam and the Middle East. I had
some preconceived notions about women in the Middle East, especially about the way... Show more

People are not born as terrorists, they learn it. The countries that Mortenson works in use their
institutions like schools to breed nationalism and racism. I now agree with Mortenson that
terrorism stems from ignorance. I can even personally testify to this. Before I knew little about
Islam and the Middle East I generally feared anyone from this region. My prejudice came from
ignorance and ingrained racial discrimination in my socialization. Extremists in the Middle East are
socialized into this way of thinking through their schooling. If more people in this region attended
schools with an unbiased curriculum, there would be less terrorism. I think the biggest tool we
have to combat terrorism is not a gun or a bomb, as our foreign policy has shown, but instead
simple education. The final theme I found both interesting and learned a lot about was the way of
life through Islam. I have talked about my previous judgments of Muslims and how Mortenson s
book has changed or eliminated almost all of these opinions through examples. I now believe that
the root of Islam is peace, not terror. I saw this exemplified repeatedly through Mortenson s book.
One passage that stands out to me is when Mortenson is in Pakistan shortly after the terrorist attacks
on September 11th, 2001. A

Sunscreen And The World Of Sunscreen
Perceptions on Sunscreen
Welcome to the exciting world of sunscreen. Sunscreen is a particular type of product that is
particularly designed for protecting the skin from the sun s ultraviolet rays. At the Healing Institute,
research is said to have suggested that wearing sunscreen is something everyone should do. It will
be the mission of the Healing Institute to ensure that each and every individual walking planet
Earth understands why sunscreen is necessary. The approach of the campaign that will be executed
will be twofold: 1) to demonstrate the benefits of sunscreen and 2) express the social psychological
dynamics surrounding the use of sunscreen with the express purpose of altering the current
attitudes surrounding sunscreen wearing.
Benefits of Wearing Sunscreen Sunscreen per Be Health and Relax (2009) is a product that
contains a blocker that protects the skin from UVA and UVB rays. The former type of rays
cause sunburn, while the latter damages the skin and is a strong cause of skin aging at a
premature level. Sunscreens have what is known as an SPF, or sun protection factor. In order to be
effective, each sunscreen product should have one of at least 30+. Sunscreens that individual
consumers should purchase should have at a minimum of 6% or more physical blockers that
protect the skin. Most, if not all sunscreens are made of active ingredients that fall within two
specific categories: reflectors and absorbers. Sunscreens come in either mousses, lotions, creams or

Parliament Vs Executive
Arguments for the successful parliament checks over the executive:
Parliament Ultimately holds a sovereign power over the Executive to create law. Any law created
by parliament reigns supreme over all including the functions and laws presiding over the
Executive. (provided in the Constitution act 1981). Parliament makes, enforces and adjudicates on
its own grounds of procedure, not under the Parliament s rule of law applies to the Executive.
The concept of the rule of law is created by parliament and restricts the action of policy formation.
One of the key concepts that affect the Executive is that the government must exercise its power
according to the law. Broadly, the law and policy must be easily accessed and open to the public.
If a member of the Executive has breached the law or committed a crime, ... Show more content on

Cabinet, defined as the head of the Executive is sometimes split to form Cabinet committees for
issues too broad to discuss on the weekly meeting. When deciding on the formation of cabinet and
cabinet committees, the prime minister as the head of cabinet may stack like minded ministers to
sway the discussions. Essentially Cabinet committees become much easier to manipulate than
control over Cabinet itself, and the PM (body from Exec) is able to guide power over cabinet
without interference of parliament.
Parliament in some cases can give away the power through delegated legislation responsibilities.
Here, we can see a flaw in the separation of powers system as parliament gives away their
sovereign power to another body. (usually the Executive) . Parliament acts as an ineffective check
on Executive power as they transfer power to the already powerful Executive. This compromises
the Doctrine of the separation of powers, this gives the ability to create law to the Executive.
Perhaps as a flaw in the system, the process of handing on a delegated legislation is very

Al 1050 English Essay
In AL 1050 Languages in the Pacific I have learned many different concepts that has to do with
the Pacific Rim. It all has to do with languages and how each island or country speaks their own
tongue, but all are similar in some way. In class I have examined historical and contemporary
language use throughout the Pacific Basin, as well as in Hawai`i. Through exploring topics
such as the effects of language contact, pidgins and creoles, and stories of language loss and
preservation, and different cultures. The first concept I am going to talk about is language
borrowing. Language borrowing is basically when you loan a word that is imported into a
certain language called loan form. These forms now function in the grammatical processes, with
nouns taking plural or possessive forms of the new language receiving native morphemes. An
example would be the English word alligator. Alligator came from the Spanish which is el
largato. El largato in Spanish means lizard. Loanshift another process that occurs also known as
calque is when adapting native words to the new meanings. The verb bad mouth . . . is a calque or
loan translation: it seems to come from Vai day ngatmay (a curse; literally, a bad mouth ). The
second concept I am going to talk about is language endangerment. Language endangerment is
basically when the language is at risk of becoming extinct in the near future. Every language face a
different level of threat. There are many different levels of endangerment which

Working Mothers Essays
Working Mothers Carrie Grubb Axia College of University of Phoenix Working Mothers In
previous generations, women had one role to accomplish; to care for their children. As mothers,
women were required to play the role of June Cleaver. Mothers need to care for the children and
keep the home in smooth working order. After many protests, women wanted to empower their
equal rights, and become career women. Thanks to women s perseverance, today women are able
to work, and be just as qualified as men in their careers. Yet, there is still the debate over whether
mothers should work, or be stay at home mothers. There are obvious disadvantages to children
having a working mother, but there are not so obvious advantages. Working... Show more content

There are many debates over the focus of the added daycare expense. Children are often only put
into daycare to help assist the working mother. In return, this adds more pressure to the mother,
because daycare is an added expense. In the old days men worked while the wives stayed at
home. This helped to eliminate the added expense of daycare. Now mothers want to work and
choose to use daycare. The question is if the family can afford the daycare expense. Some of the
mothers who work, their salaries pay just the daycare expense. Their wages are not helping their
families; the extra wages are just breaking even. If mothers choose to work, they have to decide
if the family can basically live on one income. Furthermore, there is the issue about the addition
of a working mother s income, what happens if the parents divorce, the husband passes away, or
the husband becomes injured, and he can not work? The working mother can be beneficial. If a
mother has a career, and a solid financial income, it can secure that the mother, and her family will
be more financially stable. With the possible loss of the main income source, this can be
devastating to the mother, and her children. The mother would have to worry more about the lack
of income instead of making the choice of sending her children to daycare. In fact studies have
shown that children who attend daycare are more successful in socializing as they

Determination of Relative Atomic Mass of Lithium Essay...
Determination of Relative Atomic Mass of Lithium
Evaluation:
In general the accuracy of the experiments was good. However with practice, the accuracy could
be improved; accuracy being how close the results are to the real answer. I think I have carried pit
the experiment as well as I possibly could at the time with the given conditions and time period
allowed. I have gained precise results from the practical. However, looking back at the analysis
section, the relative atomic mass values I found were not exactly 6.9 as presented in the periodic
timetable. Method (1) gave me 8.28; a difference of 1.38 and method (2) gave me 7.37, a
difference of 0.43 to the real/reference value. Therefore ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When there is a colour change in the solution, we are supposed to close the tap. However, the
colour does not change throughout the solution as soon as there is a colour change. Therefore this
will have caused in concurrencies throughout, as the aim is NOT to put excess acid to the solution
titrated, the idea is to put the EXACT amount required to neutralize the solution. I also found that
the reacted solution sometimes returned to a slight pink colour even after turning completely
colourless. Thus this caused inevitable error.
Accuracy and reliability:
In method (1) the procedure was very accurate; the equipment used is very accurate, however as
mentioned before, the gas lost when replacing the bung caused a degree of inaccuracy. As shown by
the results, with the relative atomic mass found to be +1.38 over.
In method (2) not only were the results accurate but also precise. The final relative atomic mass
coming out as only +0.43 over the reference value proves a high degree of accuracy. Looking at
the results table, the three accurate titrations fall within 0.1cm3 and 0.3cm3 of each other, which is
a very concurrent set of results. Clearly method (1) and method (2) differ in accuracy and precision.
Method (1) is clearly less accurate and precise as the gas collected from the reaction of lithium and
water was not

The Role Of Judgment In The Film Primal Fear
As I am going to use my skills of Critical Thinking and Errors of Judgment in the movie called
Primal Fear by William Diehl to write a paper. Critical term is to describe forms of learning,
thought, and analysis that go beyond the memorization and recall of information and facts. (http:/
/edglossary.org/critical thinking/). For instance, it is very important for students to analyze
situations, to solve problems, and to make good decisions. An Error of Judgment occur in the
process of sorting out and assessing evidence. For an example, to make decisions. These are the
two important skills I will be using throughout the paper/movie.
This movie exercises the principal of critical thinking when attorney Martin Vail takes on the case
of an alter boy who got accused of brutally murdering murdering the Archbishop of Chicago. Vail...

factor. Which includes when Aaron transforms into a new person, Roy and when Vail finds a
pornographic videotape at Archbishop s apartment of Aaron with his girlfriend, Linda and another
alter boy that Archbishop was filming. This was so profound in the movie because it made Aaron
/Roy look more poor/good guy who needs help/treatments with his conditions. In addition,
Archbishop was bad guy for what he did to Aaron, Linda, and an another alter boy, but everyone
else knew him as a good Archbishop who would never do such things.
No one used critical thinking in this movie, but Vail did separated facts from opinions. Also, he
avoided the errors of logic in this film. If he would ve used the Critical Thinking qualities, then he
would ve looked for the evidence and not just jumped into the conclusion. The qualities he could ve
used are look for unstated assumptions, distinguish between ideas and information, and recognize
decisions. He should ve used these qualities to decide what was right and what was wrong. Also,
this would have helped him to understand the

Frank Durrenmatt Allusion
The play The Visit, written by Friedrich DГјrrenmatt, is set in the impoverished German town of
GГјllen post World War в…Ў in the 1950 s. The play begins with the wealthy and powerful Claire
Zachanassian returning to her hometown with the plan to donate a million dollars in exchange for
the life of the man who wronged and jilted her in her youth, Alfred Ill. While the impoverished
town at first refuses her offer, they eventually give into their need for money and execute Ill.
Throughout the play, the author uses the characterizations of Claire to construct an allusion to the

There are many characterizations that Durrenmatt uses to construct the allusion including Claire s
physical characteristics along with ones that correlate individually with each of the fates.
DГјrrenmatt alludes to these beings through Claire to compare and to contrast the beings. The fates
are greatly powerful beings who are in a position within greek mythology to impose justice upon
those who seek fit. By alluding them to Claire, DГјrrenmatt is using their characteristics and
capabilities to further characterize that Claire is as powerful as the fates and is also capable of
imposing justice upon other humans. While the allusion shows that the two beings are alike in
that they both have power over justice, it also highlights how the Claire and the fates both use
their power differently. The fates use their power to control human lives because it is their duty
with greek mythology and they do so in a just, unbiased manner. This is greatly contrasting to
Claire who imposes her power over justice upon anyone who she deems fit based on her own
unjust biases. DГјrrenmatt uses this theme of unjust power to support the social commentary
within his play about how although people of power and authority are generally seen as more just,
this is not always true. This social commentary is used as a reflection upon the era of DГјrrenmatt
s youth, of which was greatly centered around World War в…
Ў. During World War в…
Ў there
were many authoritative figures that were not seen as just in their actions but because of the
position of power they obtained they were able to impose their justice upon others. DГјrrenmatt
greatly disagreed with these figures and saw them to be unjust and only harmful because of their
power which is scene through Claire in the play who is able to buy off whatever justice she wants
because she is so powerful.

Mango Street Character

The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros. The novel is a coming of age story about a
young girl finding her place in the world. The story tells about a young girl finding who grows
throughout the story. She goes through puberty. As she is going through this change, she
realizes her and her friends are starting to like the attention of boys. Along the way, she is
brought down, pushed away, and even sexually assaulted. The young girl s name is Esperanza,
and she is trying to find her place on Mango Street. The story takes place over one year, (a date
that is not stated) in a poor Chicago neighborhood for Latinos. The protagonist in the book is
Esperanza, the narrator. Her opposing forces are her neighborhood and the world. Esperanza is a
round character, because she is very outgoing, experimental, and curious. She is also a dynamic
character. Throughout the story she experiences hormonal changes that affect her feelings,
thoughts, and friendships. Because the antagonist is not a human, it has no character traits.
Esperanza feels like she belongs somewhere other than Mango Street. She feels as if she cannot
live her life to the fullest potential there. She strongly wishes she could leave her neighborhood
behind. She observes other women, and makes new friendships in hopes to find where she
belongs. The friend she gets the closest with is Sally. Sally is sexually

The Beltway Snipers Three long weeks the Washington area was terrorized by a series of

be coordinated attacks by John Allen Muhammad and his accomplice named Lee Boyd Malvo.
The sniper s claimed the lives of ten victims over the span of three weeks time, starting the

tree stump in their back yard that had been used for practicing. The two men were found sleeping
in their car at a rest stop, in possession of guns matching the ballistics of the bullets found at the

The Media’s Negative Influence on Society
The Media s Negative Influence on Society There is a lot of controversy about how the media
affects people, but in my opinion I think the influence we get is more negative than positive. The
media is one of the things that impact people the most because in today s society it is impossible
to ignore. It influences the ways in which we dress, speak, act and think. Media is fed to us
through movies, television, radio, social media, music, and magazines. I believe mass mediais

makes people in real life forget about those things, which leads to unexpected pregnancies and
the spread of STDs. After the media demands you to be thin, it also wants you to be provocative

Most people believe that Chernobyl contributed to the fall of the Soviet Union. This explosion
caused social and economic problems in the Soviet Union. Stated in an issue of the Virginia
Quarterly Review, Chernobyl led to ...efforts of environmental groups to puncture the official
silence surrounding the disaster was what led, indirectly, to the birth of glasnost during Gorbachev
s tenure and the collapse of the totalitarian containment vessel. Multiple individuals believe that
the Soviet s reasoning for not protecting the citizens of Ukraine is that they have a ...deeply
entrenched propensity for secrecy and mendacity and its general disregard for the health and
safety of its citizens. As a result of glasnost, which is a Soviet policy of being open with their
public, individuals could see how the USSR was handling the disaster in the Ukraine. Several
documents were hidden away but with the coming of glasnost the curtain of secrecy had been
removed and the secrets of Chernobyl had been released. By obtaining these documents individuals
are now able to see how the Soviet Union tried to cover up Chernobyl and how unprepared they
were to help innocent civilians. Therefore, many believe that Chernobyl was a major contributing
factor in the fall of Soviet Communism. President Gorbachev stated ...the Chernobyl accident was a
more important factor in the fall of the Soviet Union than Perestroika... Chernobyl is suspected to

What Is The Importance Of Communication In An Organization
Q2: What is the importance of communication in an organization? In your opinion, What can be the

Importance of Communication in an Organization
Communication is imperative for the development of an organization. It is something which

Language Barriers:
Language that depicts what we would need to express and convey to others, may now and again,
fill in as a boundary to them. In the present worldwide situation, the best compliment we can pay to
someone else is by talking and successfully conveying to them in their neighborhood dialect. We
have to comprehend that the local dialect of representatives can be not the same as anybody else s.
4.Cultural Barriers:
The world is comprised of differing societies. A social hindrance emerges when two people in an
organization have a place with various religions, states or nations.
5.Physical Barriers:
Research demonstrates that one of the key factors in building solid and incorporated groups is
vicinity. Most workplaces have shut entryways and lodges for those at larger amounts of the
organizational stepping stool while the substantial working zones are physically put far separated.
This sort of boundary prohibits colleagues from compelling communication with each another.
The main way one can enhance powerful organizational communication is by changing one s

Hippies In The 1960 s
Introduction When one mentions the word, hippie most people picture dirty, drug addicts with long
hair. This perception, however, suggests negative aspects to hippies when they lead one of the
largest historically defined movements. Hippies were the upcoming generation of America in the
1960 s that reconstrued their judgments on war and society. At a time when the Vietnam War was
without recourse, hippies used peaceful movements to show their discontent with war. Throughout
the time period, hippies used tactics such as protests, anti war marches, and music to get their views
across. With all the dissatisfaction of the government and society, hippies sought to find freedom
and escape. This could be achieved through the use of drugs such... Show more content on

The encouragement of new music, new sexual ideals, and birth control revolutionized America.
Music, literature, the arts, and television were all transformed immensely with the rise of the
movement. In particular, rock music was altered to a great extent. Rock music faced monumental
growth in sales and continues to do so to this day.(Sayre, J. 2008, August 8) In addition, ideals of
sexuality were greatly influenced. Prior to the movement, couples felt persecuted by simply living
with one another. With the hippiemovement came the free love philosophy which primarily
encouraged the power of beauty and sex.(Hippie Counter Culture 2011, March 9) Especially when
looking at statistics, it s easy to see how the hippie movement refashioned sexuality. Studies have
shown that between 1965 and 1975, the number of women who experienced premarital sexual
intercourse increased dramatically. As intercourse before marriage became accepted, it was clear
that a means of contraceptive was needed to avoid unwanted children. Therefore, another result of
the hippie movement was the development of birth control and population control advocacy. The
newfound awareness of global overpopulation generated concerns about pollution, food shortages,
and quality of life. Thus, overpopulation became a prominent issue in the 1960s. Advocators of
birth control became avid due to these issues so the pill was quick to be promoted. By 1962, an
estimated 1,187,000 women were using it.(Sexual Revolution n.d.) The hippie movement of the
1960 s resulted in huge discrepancies from subsequent years with changes in pop culture, sexual
relations, and

Track-Personal Narrative
I was thinking if I should go straight or turn right onto the track when I was leaving school one
miserable day. I had made my decision to go right because I would get less wet. So I walked home
on the long deserted track when I saw Barry Bagsley and his little puppets Doug and Danny
playing catch with a little Moorefield primary boy. I kept walkingdown the track thinking that I
could just avoid them by runningfast through them. As I got closer I realised that they were
grabbing the contents of within his bag and throwing it everywhere. I felt like I had to help out the
little guy but at the same time it felt so wrong to go down and come into contact with my foe.
My mind was telling me to avoid them but some little inkling in me told me to help him out. I
followed that inkling and kept walking along the muddy trail. Until I thought no I will turn around,
why make myself the target when I could just walk away, no it was too late, they have seen me....

The Pros And Cons Of Computer Privacy
Our public, both worldwide and national, depends intensely on computers in innumerable aspects of
its everyday operation. This improvement in technology makes it easy for the cooperations to
collect people s personal data through their online activities. People pay more and more attention to
Internet privacy, They do not want their data to be unauthorized accessed by anyone at anytime.
The United State government issued the ComputerFraud and Abuse Act to solve this online privacy
problem. In United State, the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act develop quickly, but still, require
further revises.
In the 1980s, only minority of people have the computer, committing a computer crime needed
sophisticated programing skills. Because of the unpopular of the computer, people did not think
misuse of the Internet will lead to bad consequence or become a kind of crime. Cooperations or
government can easily steal or trespass anyone s account because people think crime always
related to the physical interaction of personal property. Quick forward for about thirty years, this
is another story. The Internet has been used for every day nearly every home. After the legislators
realized the threat of hackers and other intrusions of online data, the Congress of US created a
category called crimes of computer misuses. Wargames, a film produced in 1983, talked about a

Engstrom Auto Mirror Plant and Work Analysis Case Study
Abstract
During May 2007, the Engstrom Auto Mirror Plant faces a low employee morale issue. The
newly appointed manager, Ron Bent, sees a decline in work place productivity and culture
throughout his recent years of working at the plant. When Bent joined the company, it was facing a
similar issue of low morale. He then decided to introduce the Scalon Plan, an incentive program for
the employees, to raise morale. The program was successful when it was first introduced but ran
into problems time after. Bent was faced with many challenges with the Scalon Plan that caused

Bent saw the low morale and wanted to change it. I feel that he used the supportive model
mentioned in our book Organizational behavior: Human behavior at work. According to Newstrom,
Management s orientation, there, is to support the employee s job performance rather than simply
support employee benefit payments as in the custodial approach. (Newstrom, 2015. P. 39) I
believe that one of Engstrom s strengths would be the fact they were able to identify the low
morale by the employees and correlate it with the low productivity. I actually commend Bent for
doing research and finding a program that has proven to work in many other companies. The
Scanlon Plan is the oldest organization wide incentive plan with proven success still in use in the
United States. The first Scanlon Plan was developed in the 1930 s by Joseph Scanlon. Scanlon
was a cost accountant by training and a steelworkers union official at a steel mi facing bankruptcy.
(Beer amp; Collins 2008). The Scanlon Plan reinforced teamwork and cooperation across work
groups while they focus attention on cost savings and motivating employees to work smarter, not

employees distrusted the bonus calculations. Some employees felt the company was playing with

This is because family is the primary setting where children start to learn acceptable way of
socializing and thinking. Physical abuse from their parents has encouraged them to practice
aggressive behavior to solve problem and obtain desired results (Boss, 2012). Furthermore,
Weatherburn and Lind (1997) found that children who have been being emotional neglect are
more likely to involve in social crime. Research has shown that teenagers who are being
emotionally neglect for a long period may feel depress and anxious may result in illicit drug, teen
suicide and alcohol abuse (Hammen, 1996). Besides, they may also feel insecure and use violent
acts to protect themselves. Abandonment leads them to join gangs in order to find the sense of
belonging. Additionally, long period of rejection and abandonment may cause teenagers to become
emotionally numb. They can feel neither sympathy nor care. Thus, they do not feel either guilty or
regret for their violent behavior. Besides, they are also not able to consider the consequences of
their aggressive acts rationally (Hammen, 1996).
Secondly, studies have shown that juvenile delinquency is conclusively related to the family
environment (Hammen, 1996). As one of the strongest socializing forces in life, family is the
primary place to cultivate children s behavior. According to Hammen (1996), the presence of

Monoamine Theory
Monoamines are neurotransmitters that include serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine, and
epinephrine. Numerous antidepressant drugs increase synaptic levels of serotonin, but they also
enhance the levels of the neurotransmitters, norepinephrine and dopamine. In the body there is
another monoamine called monoamine oxidase that has the effect of breaking down serotoninand
norepinephrine. Therefore, by blocking the effect of the monoamine oxidase, there is a increase of
synaptic concentrations of monoamines and te symptoms of depression are relieved. This
discovery led to the monoamine hypothesis of depression over 30 years ago, which proposes that
the underlying biological basis for depression is a deficiency of central noradrenergic and
serotonergic systems and that targeting this neuronal lesion with an antidepressant would tend to
restore normal function in depressed patients. A class of drugs known as monoamine oxidase
inhibitors (MAOI) have this effect. However, although helpful to many patients, the monoamine
theory of depression does t address othes issues such as why antidepressants can treat panic
disorders, OCD etc. and why enhacing monoamine concentrations isn t always effective in treating
depression. (1) (2)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Legal Functions Of Legal Practice
The work environment (the legal office we operate in) is incredibly important when it comes to
productivity and the emotional health of employed legal practitioners, as it will affect their personal
productivity and their contribution to the overall success of the legal practice. Ensuring the work
environment is as healthy as it can be is the responsibility, or can benefit from the influence, of
legal practice managers.
Legal practice managers have the challenge and responsibility of developing their own emotional
intelligence and recognising it and fostering its growth in others. For instance, the emotional
intelligence of the managing partners sets the stage for the workplace atmosphere in a legal
practice, and ultimately, the outcome of the performance of the lawyers a firm.
Before delving into specific areas in which emotional intelligence can help create an overall
healthy atmosphere in the workplace, it is prudent to identify the reality of law firms and lawyers
today. One often referred to paper in this area is John Briton s Lawyers, Emotional Stress and
Regulation. Mr Briton was the Legal Services Commissioner in Queensland when he discussed the
results of The BeyondBlue and Beaton Consulting Annual Professions Survey conducted in April
2007.
According to the results of this survey, lawyers are two and a half times more likely than other
professionals to suffer from clinical depression. Mr Briton also note that in the following year,

A Study On Image Detection
Chapter 3. Image Detection 1.Introduction Using right algorithm, can make image sensor sense
or detect practically anything. Image sensors are one of the important sensors been used in
robotics industry because they are so flexible, but there are two drawbacks with these kind of
sensors: 1)they output lots of data, dozens of megabytes per second, and 2) processing this
amount of data can overwhelm many processors. And even if the processor can keep up with the
data, much of its processing power won t be available for other tasks. Pixy cmucam5 solved
these two problems by intelligent way, it faced and solved these problems by paring a powerful
dedicated processor with the image sensor. Now pixy can processes images from the image
sensor and only sends the useful information (e.g. position of object been assigned before by
giving its x and y orientation) to whatever microcontroller you have. This microcontroller then
use this data as input then process it to the actuators. Pixy does this data analyzing and
processing at rate (50Hz). And information which processed by pixy can available through several
interfaces: UART serial, SPI, I2C, digital out, or analog out. So it is easy to communicate with pixy
with Arduino or any other microcontroller and at the same time still have a very large or plenty of
CPU available for other tasks. Fig (1) I/O port pinouts Fig (2) Pixy s ports (back of Pixy) Hue based

Oedipus Relationship Between Hamlet and Gertrude
The Oedipal Relationship between Hamlet and Gertrude
Throughout William Shakespeare s Hamlet, Shakespeare portrays Hamlet with the same types of
behaviors and frustrations in humans that Sigmund Freud saw at a much later date. When the
relationship between Hamlet and his mother is analyzed Freud s oedipal complex theory comes to
mind.
Sigmund Freud first wrote about his theory in his book An Interpretation of Dreams in 1899.
Simply put, Freud states that it is normal for children to have sexual desires for their parent of
the opposite sex. He says that it is also normal to have feelings of hatred for the other parent that
is of the same sex as the child. Most children experience these feelings between the ages of three
and five, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He states that she seeks out incestuous pleasure of his bed. (3.4 . l. 90) This exploring of his
mother s carnal nature is because he is sexually concerned for her. Hamlet also makes many
allusions to beds and sex in the scene because beds are where most sexual activity occurs. An
example of this is when Hamlet says: In the rank sweat of an enseamented bed Stew d (3.4 . l. 93
96) It is possible that here Shakespeare wanted to show how Hamlet s rage brought out all his
repressed sexually desires for his mother because of Hamlet s concentration on Gertrude s sex
life. All of these words come out in Hamlet s rage because before he had repressed them. It can
be best explained by Freud when he sates the complex which is thus formed is doomed to early
repression (Freud 51) but it has a lasting influence from the unconscious. (Freud 51) It could be
concluded from a Freudian point of view that in this scene Hamlet s repressed sexual desire for his
mother surfaces due to his rage in a form of sexual allusions.
The significance of the closet scene taking place in Gertrude s bedroom is also important to look
at because the privacy and intimacy of the bedroom add a new dimension when Hamlet s and
Gertrude s relationship is examined. Bedrooms are very private and are usually places where
sexual activity takes place. Shakespeare possibly placed Hamlet and Gertrude in these

The Effect Of 1973 Oil Embargo On The United States
On October 6, 1973, on the eve of Yom Kippur (the most holy day in the Jewish religion) Egypt
attacked Israel. Israel proceeded to defend itself and for the third time since World War II the small
Jewish state triumphed against one who greatly outnumbered it. The defeat humiliated the Arab
nation; it retaliated with its most powerful weapon, an oil boycott. Arab members of the
Organization of PetroleumExporting Countries (OPEC) primarily aimed the oil embargo at the
United States, for their decision to re supply the Israeli military and gain advantage in the post war
peace negations. However OPEC members also protracted the embargo to other countries that
supported Israel. These included the Netherlands, Portugal, and South Africa. The 1973 Oil

Idle No More Movement Analysis

Idle No More movement officially started by a group of native and non native women on
November 10, 2012 (Talaga, 2012). Idle No More is a responsibility a responsibility to live up to
the sacrifices of our ancestors, to the duty we have as guardians of the earth, and to the
expectations that our children and grandchildren have of use to protect them (Palmater, 2015 p.

The first limitation to my analysis is I was not at any of the protests that took place when Idle
No More was happening in the end of 2012 and into 2013. I feel if I had of been able to be part
of a protest when Idle No More was happening this would have also made my paper stronger. The
second limitation to my analysis is I was unable to talk to any Indigenous people who were part
of the Idle No More movement when the movement began. If I would have been able to talk to
someone who was part of the protest this would have had made my paper I stronger. The third
limitation is there was many causes as to why Idle No More even happened in the first place.
The fourth limitation of my analysis is Idle No More was sparked by the potential passing of
Bill C 45, I discussed what Bill C 45 is and how the passing of this bill would affect Indigenous
people on their reserves. I did not discuss that fact that Bill C 45 was passed and how the passing
of Bill C 45 affected Indigenous people since the passing of the bill. The fourth limitation to my
analysis is there were many other issues that Indigenous people were facing on their reserves
that were not being address before the Idle No More movement was sparked. I did not discuss
the many issues that Indigenous people are upset about aside from the passing of Bill C 45 that
led to Idle No More. The fifth limitation was how complex the Idle No More movement is. There
was so much happening during Idle No More that it would be impossible to cover it all in this
paper with in the page limit. The sixth limitation to my paper is that much of the information on
the Idle No More movement was newspaper articles. This made it hard to find academic articles
on Idle No More which made it harder to write the paper. The seventh limitation is how much the
information overlap in all the research I did. Much of the research was the same which made it
hard to write the paper. The

Comparing Huckleberry Finn And The Adventures Of Tom Sawyer
A reason why novels such as The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and The Adventures of Tom
Sawyer by Mark Twain are considered some of the best pieces of American literature is because
Twain s writing style revolutionized literature. Twain, unlike many authors at the time, chose to
write his books in a more realistic perspective of American culture. Shying away from the romantic
and transcendentalist techniques is what allowed Twain to become an instant literary giant. Within
Mark Twains works, he successfully captures and illustrates what American life was like in his
lifetime. This realistic approach allows people to see the grim and gritty reality of his time
period. Today Twain s novels can be perceived as a portal into nineteenth century life. Back then
people were desensitized to derogatory slurs and lingos of their time just as we are to our own
today. Modern people attempt to protect their children from the harshness and evils of reality,
which in turn, leads to censorship. This crusade against political correctness has turned on to The...

This type of writing style conflicted with the more popular types that only glorified America
without addressing any negative issues. Back in Twain s time, people hated the fact he had chosen
to create a slave character who had dignity, so much in fact that his book was banned from stores.
This parallels the conflict over the same book one hundred years into the future, but now there is a
different reason. In The Adventures of HuckleBerry Finnthe N word appears an excessive 219
times and has been banned in some schools because the N word was not inclusive and made
students uncomfortable (Akkoc). The N word should not be be edited from the book because it
would disconnect the reader from the realistic point of view Twain strived to achieve. It also

Regulations And Standards Of The Sarbanes Oxley Act
Applicable Regulations and Standards
Financial Institutions like Bank Solutions Inc. are required to meet the standards regulated by the
government to avoid mismanagement of sensitive information. These regulations are solely
purposed to mandate financial institutions to protect confidentiality, availability and integrity of
individuals, information systems and processes. Some of the applicable regulations and standards
are elaborated below:
1.The Sarbanes Oxley Act
The Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002 is legislation passed by the U.S. Congress to protect
shareholders and the general public from accounting errors and fraudulent practices in the
enterprise, as well as improve the accuracy of corporate disclosures (Rouse, n.d.). This act was
implemented by the government to avoid financial disgraces which occurred due to lack of
proper storage of business records including electronic records and electronic messages. This act
requires financial institutions to store audit trail of log files and other financial documentation
either paper or electronic versions for five years. It is very important the IT department of any
organization to securely store data for audit purpose to avoid huge penalties and even
imprisonment. Backup is also an important aspect as this act requires financial institution to have
data available for past five years.

In 1989, GSM responsibility was transferred to the European Telecommunications Standards
Institute (ETSI).The phase I of the GSM specifications were published in 1990. The first GSM
network was launched in 1991 by Radiolinja in Finland. By the end of 1993, over a million
subscribers were using GSM phone networks. The growth of cellular telephone systems started in
the early 1980s, particularly in being operated by 70 carriers across 48 countries.
The Global System for Mobile communications (GSM: originally from Group Special Mobile) is
the most popular standard for mobile phones in the world. GSM service is used by over 2 billion
people across more than 212 countries and territories. The ubiquity of the GSM standard makes
international roaming very common between mobile phone operators, enabling subscribers to
use their phones in many parts of the world. From the point of view of the consumers, the key
advantage of GSM systems has been higher digital voice quality and low cost alternatives to
making calls such as the Short Message Service (SMS). The advantage for network operators has
been the ability to deploy equipment from different vendors because the open standard allows easy
inter operability. Like other cellular standards GSM allows network operators to offer roaming
services which mean subscribers can use their phones all over the world.
GSM is a cellular network, which means that

Internal And External Stakeholders
There are two kinds of stakeholders in any organization i.e. internal and external. the internal stake
holders are people within company that can be impacted by the actions of company and in turn
influence the actions of company and the external ones have similar function but they reside
outside the organizational boundaries (Needles, Powers, and Crosson, 2013). in case of Philips
one of the major internal stake holders are its employees, such that the employees give innovative
ideas and feedback to Philips and the company rewards them in return in form of
acknowledgement, rewards and compensation as they believe that employees have paramount role
in customer satisfaction. Employees have interest in the financial statements and the indices of
financial operations presented in the annual report so that they can have an idea of the ability of
company to keep them employed and give them adequate salaries and benefits. In addition other
important external stakeholder is the suppliers of Philips, as the company is concerned with the
satiable development of its products and services, so they make sure that their suppliers also follow
the same practice. Philips is in direct relationship with 8500... Show more content on

Lab-Cultured Meat
Let s Get to the Meat of the Discussion When most people think about a juicy, flavor filled
hamburger the warm buns, melted cheese; ice cold lettuce and tomato; sweet pickle; and the
perfect, equal amounts of both ketchup and mustard they are likely reminded of grilling outside at
a BBQ or grabbing a bite to eat at famous burger shops like Fuddruckers or Five Guys. However,
the idea of the All American Hamburgerhas been changed in the eyes of some scientists and those
who prefer not to eat meat. Researchers and developers have come up with a way to grow lab
cultured meat by vitro methods. This method of producing meat has raised concerns and has been a
growing topic of discussion based of the unnaturalness and potential health risks... Show more

Considering three big religions that are prominent across the United States, Jewish, Muslim,
and Christianity, all give feedback on what they consider to be right or wrong regarding if they
can or should eat the real meat. In the Jewish religion, there is discussion over whether the fake
meat will be considered Kosher. Rabbi Joshua Strulowitz of the West Side Institutional
Synagogue in New York stated, The animal would need to be slaughtered according to Jewish
law before harvesting the cells because meat from a live animal is not Kosher. (Fox). In the
Jewish sense, the animal would need to be killed anyways in order for the people of its religion
to participate in the fake meat experiment so it is pointless. Regarding Muslim religion, the
production of the in vitro meat would have to meet the standards under halal. According to the
Oxford English Dictionary, halal is defined as the act of killing an animal in the matter prescribed
by Muslim law (OED). Dr. Abdul Qahir Qamar, Director of Fatwas and Sharia rulings at the

Douglas Moo Justification Summary
In this summary of justification we first start out with Douglas Moo s interpretation of the word
justification and what it means to him. Moo starts out with the views of justification he was taught
as a kid and was commonly taught before him. Moo starts out how he was first taught that
justification was forensic. This was how God declared a person right before him. The next view of
justificationMoo was taught was how justification was before God. The focus of the doctrine is on
the individual human who is placed in a new relationship with God. Moo then learned how
justification is on account of Christ. That means God justifies a person not on the basis of anything
that a person does but on the basis of what Luther called alien righteousness , the righteousness of
Christ that is imputed to that individual. He also learned that... Show more content on

This means that no one can contribute anything to their justification and that its entirely a gift
from God. These views are what Moo would call a classic reformation doctrine. These views;
however, have changed in today s world. The classic reformation doctrine of justification has
changed due to academic, ecclesiological, cultural, and practical pressures. Moo then switches to
the reformation view and modern academic view of how people get to sanctification. The
reformation view is they emphasize on having a genuine faith that will lead to works and that if
you truly have been justified then you will be sanctified. The modern academic views blurs the
distinctions if faith and works together. They also do they same with justification and sanctification.
Moo then goes on to answer some key questions that we face today on justification. Moo first
answers what does justification mean. Moo says that justification is forensic only and he believes
that. Moo then answers at what time does justification happen and he says that justification happens
at your conversion to the

Why I Should Be A Nurse
I knew from a young age that I wanted to be a nurse. As I applied to many schools in the early
season of my senior year, I questioned what I would take into consideration as I chose a college.
Choosing a school based on my major is something I thought was normal. For this reason, I
really took the time to consider and weigh my options. Hence, one option that was very apparent,
is the location of the nursing school. Some colleges have a separate medical campus located in
major cities with access to large hospitals, while some have the hospitals and offices right down
the street on campus. I weighed the option of what would best fit my experience for a lot longer
than I was expecting. At times, I considered maybe it would be beneficial to stay on campus
since college only happens once and people say it is the best years of your life. I was
simultaneously thinking, maybe it is better to stay focused on my career by moving away. As this
decision came closer, I decided I would visit a few schools with either an on campus medical
center, such as the Universityof Missouri and the University of Utah, or an off campus medical
center, like that of Baylor or the University of Oklahoma. Baylor s nursing school is the one that
definitely ensured my choice of where I wanted to attend college from the welcoming community it
appears to have. However, I was still unsure about the moving after junior year. If you are like me
considering the location of the nursing campus, you possibly

Italian Unification Dbq Essay
In order to restore France after the Napoleonic Era, the Quadruple Alliance, Russia, Prussia,
Austria, and Great Britain, held a meeting called the Congress of Vienna in order to establish peace
between countries. The four countries decided that creating borders within Europe and receiving
compensation in the form of territory would be an effective reminder of the pain France had caused
during its revolution. After decades of dealing with borders placed by the Quadruple Alliance, the
inhabitants of Italy wanted a more unified peninsula. Although many leaders of Europeproposed
ideas for fixing this problem, many of them such as Cavour and Napoleon III had ulterior
motives. The unification of Italy took such a long time because its politicians were not being
honest about what they actually wanted. One of the most influential political figures in Europe
during this time was Count Camillo Benso di Cavour, a politician from Piedmont Sardinia who
had very small and realistic goals for Italy (Hearder 40). To him, there was no hope for a
democratic revolution across Italy, and he viewed the settlement from the Congress of Vienna as
arbitrary [and] defective (Doc. 4). He only... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He decided to end his alliance with Cavour because he feared losing support from his Catholic
subjects in France (McKay et al 753). Napoleon made a compromise peace with Austria at
Villafranca. The only land that Italy obtained from Austria were the two fortress cities of Mantua
and Peschiera (Doc. 10). The rest of the map remained the same. Cavour resigned out of pure
frustration (Hearder 149). In a letter to an Italian friend, Napoleon wrote, I do not wish to see
Italy united. I want only independence. Unity would bring danger to me... (Doc 11). Despite all of
the bitter resentment, Cavour was pleasantly surprised when the northern and central states of Italy
called for a fusion, and he returned to power in 1860 (McKay et al

Essay on Happiness and Social Status in Great Expectations
Charles Dickens uses his own opinions to develop the larger than life characters in Great
Expectations. The novel is written from the point of view of the protagonist, Pip. Pip guides the
reader through his life, describing the different stages from childhood to manhood. Many
judgments are made regarding the other characters, and Pip s views of them are constantly
changing according to his place in the social hierarchy. For instance, Pip feels total admiration that,
later, turns to total shame for the man who raised him, Joe Gargery. The primary theme in this
novel questions whether being in a higher social and economic class helps a person to achieve true
happiness. This idea is shown through Pip s innocence at the forge, visits... Show more content on

Pip does not tell Joe because he fears he will lose his companionship. In the future, Pip will
struggle with telling the truth because of the fear that society will think less of him. Later that
same day, the police are engaged in a search party to find the criminal. Joe and Pip accompany
them; although, they do not believe that he must be apprehended. Once Magwitch is taken into
custody, Joe and Pip both shed a tear. Pip s life at the forge is difficult due to Mrs. Joe s harsh
nature, but he is also surrounded by the goodness and love of Joe. He has been taught that humans
of all societal levels are important.
Pip is content at the forge until pompous Uncle Pumblechook, Joe s uncle, takes him to visit to
Satis House, for the first time, where he makes the acquaintance of Miss Havisham and Estella.
Satis House is dismal and devoid of life with the exception of Estella, in Pip s eyes. Estella is a
pretty, proud, and emotionless girl with who treats Pip badly yet still causes Pip to become
completely infatuated with her. The forge now makes Pip ashamed and embarrassed because a
coarse, common man could never spend an eternity with such a beauty. Pip is so confused about
Estella s insults intertwined with her flirting that all he really knows is that he is ashamed of his
social standing. Pip s love for Joe was shadowed by this embarrassment. #8230;I was ashamed of

Ivan Provorov Case Study
Player Profile: Ivan Provorov With the Flyers at number seven on the board at the NHL Draft
the Flyers found themselves with a great player still available. At the seventh pick in the NHL
2015 Draft the Philadelphia Flyers selected Ivan Provorov of the WHL s Brandon Wheat Kings.
While most will believe that the Flyer s biggest need was a strong winger, the Flyers have needs
at defense as well and in this situation, Provorov was by far the best player left available at the
seventh pick. Provorov also fits the system Hakstol plans to implement as a mobile, offensively
gifted defensemen. When Provorov s name was called, NHL draft analysts had nothing but good
things to say about the Russian defensemen. I think he s the best defensemen

The frame story of the old couple is labeled as the dream relationship by what Mel says before he
begins the story, You see, this happened a few months ago, but it s still going on right now, and it
ought to make us feel shame when we talk like we know what we re talking about when we talk
about love. (178) By Mel saying they will feel shame because they talk like they know about love
gives the old couples story a uprising meaning towards love. Saying the old couples relationship
is actual love rather than the stories they have been sharing. Mel then goes on to say, So we

Malcolm X, A Civil Right Activist And Powerful Black Leader
In the influential and provoking essay Learning to Read (1965), Malcolm X, a civil right activist
and powerful black leader, narrates his story on how books transformed his life forever into the
realm of human rights. Incorporating sequential narrative and social analysis, he explains his
methodology in attaining literacy and how this process influences him to espouse black separatism
and resent white people, while providing historical fact and jarring criticism in his arguments. Using
first person narrative, Malcom advances through the story by pointing each progression in detail,
while using provocative diction in order to evoke emotional response without forsaking essential
argumentation in his writing. Malcolm conveys his writing to an ostensibly general audience,
although he purposely focuses more on white people in order to unleash his anger and criticism.
Malcolm begins his auto biography in his frustration of not being able to express his thought and
even calls himself [dysfunctional] (Malcolm 2) to demonstrate his initial helpless condition. To
make it worse, as if to appeal to the reader s pathos, he was situated inside a prison. In his
helplessness, he reveals his innocent motivation of how he starts to attain literacy; by mere
jealousy to another people. He describes his own effort in an exciting tone, exhausting every inch
of the dictionary by copying it. He describes his dictionary as a miniature encyclopedia which
allows him to understand the book s

  • 2. School Lunch Policy Analysis Our bodies require fuel only obtainable from food, so it s vital to stay pay attention to the political aspects that affect how and where we get our food. It s important to note the youth in America have little say in how or where their school lunches come from and how it affects them. This is a contributing factor in the poor investment the current public schoollunchprogram has become today. This is an article from The Washington Post regarding the effects of USDA mandates on school lunches. The writer provides some background concerning the guidelines of the new mandates, then proceeds to display the effects with a large sample of students. Very useful to tie governmental mandates, eating habits, and food waste together. Lacks any ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The diversity of the listed projects gives an opportunity to expand on different approaches to solve the various problems of the lunch program. However, there is no attempt to address the current issues of our system, requiring a previous understanding of how the school lunch system currently operates. • 3. Rene Descartes Dreaming Argument Essay Dreaming Argument Dreaming is something we all are subject to. Every night when we lay down in our beds we dream, now whether or not we can remember our dreams is a different story. Dreams can be very realistic and they have been speculated and researched but we know little about our dreams, what they mean, and the sensations or feelings they provide for us. As far as we know dreaming is our unconscious mind acting out desires, possibly because we cannot do them or experience those events in our waking life. Since dreaming is so under researched and we know little about it, it has been speculated by many people. Rene Descartes go in depth on this subject and his ideas on what dreaming is arguing that we cannot distinguish the difference between being awake and being asleep. That is a very bold statement and put in a seemingly simplistic way, recorded in his first meditations. What Descartes does is challenge our preconceived notions of dreaming and puts us in the frame of mind to answer for ourselves if we are dreaming right now or are we actually experiencing reality. Descartes makes us come face to face with the reality that we actually don t know if we are dreaming. His claims that we may be dreaming is a well known philosophical argument in the Western world and I hope to discover the truth behind his argument and shed light on how I perceive his philosophy on the dreaming world. I will shed light on this dream argument by interpreting what Descartes says, other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Three Cups Of Tea By Mortenson Mortenson in Motion As I delved into Mortenson s personal saga in Three Cups of Tea, my understanding of both this region of the world and Islam increased. Several themes in these chapters caught my attention. The themes I was most interested in were the position of women, the importance of education in this region, and the true meaning of Islam. Three Cups of Tea showed me the true roots of Islam and the cultural practices associated with this area. This book made me withdraw my prejudices and form a new opinion about the inhabitants of this region. As a woman, I was extremely interested in the status of women in both Islam and the Middle East. I had some preconceived notions about women in the Middle East, especially about the way... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People are not born as terrorists, they learn it. The countries that Mortenson works in use their institutions like schools to breed nationalism and racism. I now agree with Mortenson that terrorism stems from ignorance. I can even personally testify to this. Before I knew little about Islam and the Middle East I generally feared anyone from this region. My prejudice came from ignorance and ingrained racial discrimination in my socialization. Extremists in the Middle East are socialized into this way of thinking through their schooling. If more people in this region attended schools with an unbiased curriculum, there would be less terrorism. I think the biggest tool we have to combat terrorism is not a gun or a bomb, as our foreign policy has shown, but instead simple education. The final theme I found both interesting and learned a lot about was the way of life through Islam. I have talked about my previous judgments of Muslims and how Mortenson s book has changed or eliminated almost all of these opinions through examples. I now believe that the root of Islam is peace, not terror. I saw this exemplified repeatedly through Mortenson s book. One passage that stands out to me is when Mortenson is in Pakistan shortly after the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001. A ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Sunscreen And The World Of Sunscreen Perceptions on Sunscreen Welcome to the exciting world of sunscreen. Sunscreen is a particular type of product that is particularly designed for protecting the skin from the sun s ultraviolet rays. At the Healing Institute, research is said to have suggested that wearing sunscreen is something everyone should do. It will be the mission of the Healing Institute to ensure that each and every individual walking planet Earth understands why sunscreen is necessary. The approach of the campaign that will be executed will be twofold: 1) to demonstrate the benefits of sunscreen and 2) express the social psychological dynamics surrounding the use of sunscreen with the express purpose of altering the current attitudes surrounding sunscreen wearing. Benefits of Wearing Sunscreen Sunscreen per Be Health and Relax (2009) is a product that contains a blocker that protects the skin from UVA and UVB rays. The former type of rays cause sunburn, while the latter damages the skin and is a strong cause of skin aging at a premature level. Sunscreens have what is known as an SPF, or sun protection factor. In order to be effective, each sunscreen product should have one of at least 30+. Sunscreens that individual consumers should purchase should have at a minimum of 6% or more physical blockers that protect the skin. Most, if not all sunscreens are made of active ingredients that fall within two specific categories: reflectors and absorbers. Sunscreens come in either mousses, lotions, creams or ... • 6. Parliament Vs Executive Arguments for the successful parliament checks over the executive: Parliament Ultimately holds a sovereign power over the Executive to create law. Any law created by parliament reigns supreme over all including the functions and laws presiding over the Executive. (provided in the Constitution act 1981). Parliament makes, enforces and adjudicates on its own grounds of procedure, not under the Parliament s rule of law applies to the Executive. The concept of the rule of law is created by parliament and restricts the action of policy formation. One of the key concepts that affect the Executive is that the government must exercise its power according to the law. Broadly, the law and policy must be easily accessed and open to the public. If a member of the Executive has breached the law or committed a crime, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cabinet, defined as the head of the Executive is sometimes split to form Cabinet committees for issues too broad to discuss on the weekly meeting. When deciding on the formation of cabinet and cabinet committees, the prime minister as the head of cabinet may stack like minded ministers to sway the discussions. Essentially Cabinet committees become much easier to manipulate than control over Cabinet itself, and the PM (body from Exec) is able to guide power over cabinet without interference of parliament. Parliament in some cases can give away the power through delegated legislation responsibilities. Here, we can see a flaw in the separation of powers system as parliament gives away their sovereign power to another body. (usually the Executive) . Parliament acts as an ineffective check on Executive power as they transfer power to the already powerful Executive. This compromises the Doctrine of the separation of powers, this gives the ability to create law to the Executive. • 8. Al 1050 English Essay In AL 1050 Languages in the Pacific I have learned many different concepts that has to do with the Pacific Rim. It all has to do with languages and how each island or country speaks their own tongue, but all are similar in some way. In class I have examined historical and contemporary language use throughout the Pacific Basin, as well as in Hawai`i. Through exploring topics such as the effects of language contact, pidgins and creoles, and stories of language loss and preservation, and different cultures. The first concept I am going to talk about is language borrowing. Language borrowing is basically when you loan a word that is imported into a certain language called loan form. These forms now function in the grammatical processes, with nouns taking plural or possessive forms of the new language receiving native morphemes. An example would be the English word alligator. Alligator came from the Spanish which is el largato. El largato in Spanish means lizard. Loanshift another process that occurs also known as calque is when adapting native words to the new meanings. The verb bad mouth . . . is a calque or loan translation: it seems to come from Vai day ngatmay (a curse; literally, a bad mouth ). The second concept I am going to talk about is language endangerment. Language endangerment is basically when the language is at risk of becoming extinct in the near future. Every language face a different level of threat. There are many different levels of endangerment which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Working Mothers Essays Working Mothers Carrie Grubb Axia College of University of Phoenix Working Mothers In previous generations, women had one role to accomplish; to care for their children. As mothers, women were required to play the role of June Cleaver. Mothers need to care for the children and keep the home in smooth working order. After many protests, women wanted to empower their equal rights, and become career women. Thanks to women s perseverance, today women are able to work, and be just as qualified as men in their careers. Yet, there is still the debate over whether mothers should work, or be stay at home mothers. There are obvious disadvantages to children having a working mother, but there are not so obvious advantages. Working... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are many debates over the focus of the added daycare expense. Children are often only put into daycare to help assist the working mother. In return, this adds more pressure to the mother, because daycare is an added expense. In the old days men worked while the wives stayed at home. This helped to eliminate the added expense of daycare. Now mothers want to work and choose to use daycare. The question is if the family can afford the daycare expense. Some of the mothers who work, their salaries pay just the daycare expense. Their wages are not helping their families; the extra wages are just breaking even. If mothers choose to work, they have to decide if the family can basically live on one income. Furthermore, there is the issue about the addition of a working mother s income, what happens if the parents divorce, the husband passes away, or the husband becomes injured, and he can not work? The working mother can be beneficial. If a mother has a career, and a solid financial income, it can secure that the mother, and her family will be more financially stable. With the possible loss of the main income source, this can be devastating to the mother, and her children. The mother would have to worry more about the lack of income instead of making the choice of sending her children to daycare. In fact studies have shown that children who attend daycare are more successful in socializing as they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However with practice, the accuracy could be improved; accuracy being how close the results are to the real answer. I think I have carried pit the experiment as well as I possibly could at the time with the given conditions and time period allowed. I have gained precise results from the practical. However, looking back at the analysis section, the relative atomic mass values I found were not exactly 6.9 as presented in the periodic timetable. Method (1) gave me 8.28; a difference of 1.38 and method (2) gave me 7.37, a difference of 0.43 to the real/reference value. Therefore ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I also found that the reacted solution sometimes returned to a slight pink colour even after turning completely colourless. Thus this caused inevitable error. Accuracy and reliability: In method (1) the procedure was very accurate; the equipment used is very accurate, however as mentioned before, the gas lost when replacing the bung caused a degree of inaccuracy. As shown by the results, with the relative atomic mass found to be +1.38 over. In method (2) not only were the results accurate but also precise. The final relative atomic mass coming out as only +0.43 over the reference value proves a high degree of accuracy. Looking at the results table, the three accurate titrations fall within 0.1cm3 and 0.3cm3 of each other, which is a very concurrent set of results. Clearly method (1) and method (2) differ in accuracy and precision. Method (1) is clearly less accurate and precise as the gas collected from the reaction of lithium and water was not ... • 13. The Role Of Judgment In The Film Primal Fear As I am going to use my skills of Critical Thinking and Errors of Judgment in the movie called Primal Fear by William Diehl to write a paper. Critical term is to describe forms of learning, thought, and analysis that go beyond the memorization and recall of information and facts. (http:/ /edglossary.org/critical thinking/). For instance, it is very important for students to analyze situations, to solve problems, and to make good decisions. An Error of Judgment occur in the process of sorting out and assessing evidence. For an example, to make decisions. These are the two important skills I will be using throughout the paper/movie. This movie exercises the principal of critical thinking when attorney Martin Vail takes on the case of an alter boy who got accused of brutally murdering murdering the Archbishop of Chicago. Vail... In addition, Archbishop was bad guy for what he did to Aaron, Linda, and an another alter boy, but everyone else knew him as a good Archbishop who would never do such things. No one used critical thinking in this movie, but Vail did separated facts from opinions. Also, he avoided the errors of logic in this film. If he would ve used the Critical Thinking qualities, then he would ve looked for the evidence and not just jumped into the conclusion. The qualities he could ve used are look for unstated assumptions, distinguish between ideas and information, and recognize decisions. He should ve used these qualities to decide what was right and what was wrong. Also, this would have helped him to understand the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Frank Durrenmatt Allusion The play The Visit, written by Friedrich DГјrrenmatt, is set in the impoverished German town of GГјllen post World War в…Ў in the 1950 s. The play begins with the wealthy and powerful Claire Zachanassian returning to her hometown with the plan to donate a million dollars in exchange for the life of the man who wronged and jilted her in her youth, Alfred Ill. While the impoverished town at first refuses her offer, they eventually give into their need for money and execute Ill. Throughout the play, the author uses the characterizations of Claire to construct an allusion to the three fatesfrom Greek mythology. The Greek fates are influential, immortal women who are in charge of controlling the lives and deaths of mortals, symbolized by a string.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are many characterizations that Durrenmatt uses to construct the allusion including Claire s physical characteristics along with ones that correlate individually with each of the fates. DГјrrenmatt alludes to these beings through Claire to compare and to contrast the beings. The fates are greatly powerful beings who are in a position within greek mythology to impose justice upon those who seek fit. By alluding them to Claire, DГјrrenmatt is using their characteristics and capabilities to further characterize that Claire is as powerful as the fates and is also capable of imposing justice upon other humans. While the allusion shows that the two beings are alike in that they both have power over justice, it also highlights how the Claire and the fates both use their power differently. The fates use their power to control human lives because it is their duty with greek mythology and they do so in a just, unbiased manner. This is greatly contrasting to Claire who imposes her power over justice upon anyone who she deems fit based on her own unjust biases. DГјrrenmatt uses this theme of unjust power to support the social commentary within his play about how although people of power and authority are generally seen as more just, this is not always true. This social commentary is used as a reflection upon the era of DГјrrenmatt s youth, of which was greatly centered around World War в… Ў. • 15. Mango Street Character The House on Mango Street For my second quarter book report, I chose to read the classic book, The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros. The novel is a coming of age story about a young girl finding her place in the world. The story tells about a young girl finding who grows throughout the story. She goes through puberty. As she is going through this change, she realizes her and her friends are starting to like the attention of boys. Along the way, she is brought down, pushed away, and even sexually assaulted. The young girl s name is Esperanza, and she is trying to find her place on Mango Street. The story takes place over one year, (a date that is not stated) in a poor Chicago neighborhood for Latinos. The protagonist in the book is Esperanza, the narrator. Her opposing forces are her neighborhood and the world. Esperanza is a round character, because she is very outgoing, experimental, and curious. She is also a dynamic character. Throughout the story she experiences hormonal changes that affect her feelings, thoughts, and friendships. Because the antagonist is not a human, it has no character traits. Esperanza feels like she belongs somewhere other than Mango Street. She feels as if she cannot live her life to the fullest potential there. She strongly wishes she could leave her neighborhood behind. She observes other women, and makes new friendships in hopes to find where she belongs. The friend she gets the closest with is Sally. • 28. Monoamine Theory Monoamines are neurotransmitters that include serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine. Numerous antidepressant drugs increase synaptic levels of serotonin, but they also enhance the levels of the neurotransmitters, norepinephrine and dopamine. In the body there is another monoamine called monoamine oxidase that has the effect of breaking down serotoninand norepinephrine. Therefore, by blocking the effect of the monoamine oxidase, there is a increase of synaptic concentrations of monoamines and te symptoms of depression are relieved. This discovery led to the monoamine hypothesis of depression over 30 years ago, which proposes that the underlying biological basis for depression is a deficiency of central noradrenergic and serotonergic systems and that targeting this neuronal lesion with an antidepressant would tend to restore normal function in depressed patients. A class of drugs known as monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI) have this effect. • 30. A Study On Image Detection Chapter 3. Image Detection 1.Introduction Using right algorithm, can make image sensor sense or detect practically anything. Image sensors are one of the important sensors been used in robotics industry because they are so flexible, but there are two drawbacks with these kind of sensors: 1)they output lots of data, dozens of megabytes per second, and 2) processing this amount of data can overwhelm many processors. And even if the processor can keep up with the data, much of its processing power won t be available for other tasks. Pixy cmucam5 solved these two problems by intelligent way, it faced and solved these problems by paring a powerful dedicated processor with the image sensor. Now pixy can processes images from the image sensor and only sends the useful information (e.g. position of object been assigned before by giving its x and y orientation) to whatever microcontroller you have. This microcontroller then use this data as input then process it to the actuators. Pixy does this data analyzing and processing at rate (50Hz). And information which processed by pixy can available through several interfaces: UART serial, SPI, I2C, digital out, or analog out. Sigmund Freud first wrote about his theory in his book An Interpretation of Dreams in 1899. Simply put, Freud states that it is normal for children to have sexual desires for their parent of the opposite sex. An example of this is when Hamlet says: In the rank sweat of an enseamented bed Stew d (3.4 . l. 93 96) It is possible that here Shakespeare wanted to show how Hamlet s rage brought out all his repressed sexually desires for his mother because of Hamlet s concentration on Gertrude s sex life. The significance of the closet scene taking place in Gertrude s bedroom is also important to look at because the privacy and intimacy of the bedroom add a new dimension when Hamlet s and Gertrude s relationship is examined. I did not discuss the many issues that Indigenous people are upset about aside from the passing of Bill C 45 that led to Idle No More. The fifth limitation was how complex the Idle No More movement is. There was so much happening during Idle No More that it would be impossible to cover it all in this paper with in the page limit. The sixth limitation to my paper is that much of the information on the Idle No More movement was newspaper articles. This made it hard to find academic articles on Idle No More which made it harder to write the paper. The seventh limitation is how much the information overlap in all the research I did. • 34. Comparing Huckleberry Finn And The Adventures Of Tom Sawyer A reason why novels such as The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain are considered some of the best pieces of American literature is because Twain s writing style revolutionized literature. Twain, unlike many authors at the time, chose to write his books in a more realistic perspective of American culture. Shying away from the romantic and transcendentalist techniques is what allowed Twain to become an instant literary giant. Within Mark Twains works, he successfully captures and illustrates what American life was like in his lifetime. This realistic approach allows people to see the grim and gritty reality of his time period. Today Twain s novels can be perceived as a portal into nineteenth century life. Back then people were desensitized to derogatory slurs and lingos of their time just as we are to our own today. Modern people attempt to protect their children from the harshness and evils of reality, which in turn, leads to censorship. This crusade against political correctness has turned on to The... In The Adventures of HuckleBerry Finnthe N word appears an excessive 219 times and has been banned in some schools because the N word was not inclusive and made students uncomfortable (Akkoc). In 1989, GSM responsibility was transferred to the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI).The phase I of the GSM specifications were published in 1990. The first GSM network was launched in 1991 by Radiolinja in Finland. By the end of 1993, over a million subscribers were using GSM phone networks. The growth of cellular telephone systems started in the early 1980s, particularly in being operated by 70 carriers across 48 countries. The Global System for Mobile communications (GSM: originally from Group Special Mobile) is the most popular standard for mobile phones in the world. GSM service is used by over 2 billion people across more than 212 countries and territories. The ubiquity of the GSM standard makes international roaming very common between mobile phone operators, enabling subscribers to use their phones in many parts of the world. From the point of view of the consumers, the key advantage of GSM systems has been higher digital voice quality and low cost alternatives to making calls such as the Short Message Service (SMS). The advantage for network operators has been the ability to deploy equipment from different vendors because the open standard allows easy inter operability. Dragline also saw this as an opportunity and jumped on the truck as it sped away. Luke and Dragline made it to a river to hide the truck and Dragline talks about how Luke fooled the bosses. Although all through the movie we see that Dragline s core belief is that he should stay within the laws of the captain he breaks these beliefs to escape with Luke (Glavin, 2015a). Moo starts out with the views of justification he was taught as a kid and was commonly taught before him. Moo starts out how he was first taught that justification was forensic. This was how God declared a person right before him. The next view of justificationMoo was taught was how justification was before God. The focus of the doctrine is on the individual human who is placed in a new relationship with God. Moo then learned how justification is on account of Christ. That means God justifies a person not on the basis of anything that a person does but on the basis of what Luther called alien righteousness , the righteousness of Christ that is imputed to that individual. Moo then switches to the reformation view and modern academic view of how people get to sanctification. The reformation view is they emphasize on having a genuine faith that will lead to works and that if you truly have been justified then you will be sanctified. The modern academic views blurs the distinctions if faith and works together. They also do they same with justification and sanctification. Moo then goes on to answer some key questions that we face today on justification. Moo first answers what does justification mean. Moo says that justification is forensic only and he believes that. • 43. Why I Should Be A Nurse I knew from a young age that I wanted to be a nurse. As I applied to many schools in the early season of my senior year, I questioned what I would take into consideration as I chose a college. Choosing a school based on my major is something I thought was normal. For this reason, I really took the time to consider and weigh my options. Hence, one option that was very apparent, is the location of the nursing school. Some colleges have a separate medical campus located in major cities with access to large hospitals, while some have the hospitals and offices right down the street on campus. I weighed the option of what would best fit my experience for a lot longer than I was expecting. At times, I considered maybe it would be beneficial to stay on campus since college only happens once and people say it is the best years of your life. I was simultaneously thinking, maybe it is better to stay focused on my career by moving away. As this decision came closer, I decided I would visit a few schools with either an on campus medical center, such as the Universityof Missouri and the University of Utah, or an off campus medical center, like that of Baylor or the University of Oklahoma. Baylor s nursing school is the one that definitely ensured my choice of where I wanted to attend college from the welcoming community it appears to have. However, I was still unsure about the moving after junior year. If you are like me considering the location of the nursing campus, you possibly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Italian Unification Dbq Essay In order to restore France after the Napoleonic Era, the Quadruple Alliance, Russia, Prussia, Austria, and Great Britain, held a meeting called the Congress of Vienna in order to establish peace between countries. The four countries decided that creating borders within Europe and receiving compensation in the form of territory would be an effective reminder of the pain France had caused during its revolution. After decades of dealing with borders placed by the Quadruple Alliance, the inhabitants of Italy wanted a more unified peninsula. Although many leaders of Europeproposed ideas for fixing this problem, many of them such as Cavour and Napoleon III had ulterior motives. The unification of Italy took such a long time because its politicians were not being honest about what they actually wanted. One of the most influential political figures in Europe during this time was Count Camillo Benso di Cavour, a politician from Piedmont Sardinia who had very small and realistic goals for Italy (Hearder 40). To him, there was no hope for a democratic revolution across Italy, and he viewed the settlement from the Congress of Vienna as arbitrary [and] defective (Doc. 4). He only... Malcolm X, A Civil Right Activist And Powerful Black Leader In the influential and provoking essay Learning to Read (1965), Malcolm X, a civil right activist and powerful black leader, narrates his story on how books transformed his life forever into the realm of human rights. Incorporating sequential narrative and social analysis, he explains his methodology in attaining literacy and how this process influences him to espouse black separatism and resent white people, while providing historical fact and jarring criticism in his arguments. Using first person narrative, Malcom advances through the story by pointing each progression in detail, while using provocative diction in order to evoke emotional response without forsaking essential argumentation in his writing. Malcolm conveys his writing to an ostensibly general audience, although he purposely focuses more on white people in order to unleash his anger and criticism. Malcolm begins his auto biography in his frustration of not being able to express his thought and even calls himself [dysfunctional] (Malcolm 2) to demonstrate his initial helpless condition. To make it worse, as if to appeal to the reader s pathos, he was situated inside a prison. In his helplessness, he reveals his innocent motivation of how he starts to attain literacy; by mere jealousy to another people.
