Revenge And Revenge In Hamlet
The play Hamlet by William Shakespeare is about a guy named Hamlet going through a hard time in
life, after the death of his father, and the remarriage of his mother to his uncle. Throughout the play
were are able to get a greater understanding of who Hamlet really is. The actions of Hamlet in
Shakespeare s master piece Hamlet proves him to a revenge seeker, emotional, and crazy. In the play
Hamlet the first word to describe who Hamlet is would be revenge seeker. Several times throughout
the play we see how Hamlet tries to seek revenge on people. An example of this would be on Claudius
for the murder of his father. One way he seeks revenge is to make Claudius watch a play on how he
killed Old Hamlet, making him suffer through it. Play something like the murder of my father/Before
mine uncle. I ll observe his looks./I ll tent him to the quick. If he do blench,/I know my course.
(2.2.574 577).If Claudius starts to look pale or uncomfortable Hamlet knows that the ghost was not
lying when he said Claudius killed Old Hamlet. Another way Hamlet tries to seek revenge on Claudius
is by killing him while he is praying, asking for forgiveness from the sin he has done. Now might I do
it pat. Now he is a praying./And now I ll do t. And so he goes to heaven./And so am I revenged.
(3.3.74 76). Hamlet then puts his sword away because he does not think it was a good time to kill
Claudius. Another way Hamlet tried to seek revenge was when Hamlet heard someone in his mother s
room

Kant, Second Analogy,and Causation
Kant, Second Analogy, and Causation
Introduction In the critique of pure reason, Kant states, All alternations occur in accordance with the
law of the connection of cause and effect. 1 This statement is interpreted in two different ways: weak
readings and strong readings. The weak readings basically suggest that Kant s statement only refer to
All events have a cause ; however, the strong readings suggest that the Second Analogy is committed
not just to causes, but to causal laws as well. 2 To understand the difference between the readings, it is
helpful to notice Kant s distinction between empirical laws of nature and universal transcendental
principles. Empirical laws have an empirical element that universal transcendental principles cannot
imply. On the other hand, empirical experiences require necessity to become a law, accordingly, the
transcendental laws ground the empirical laws by supplying them with their necessity. 3In this paper,
according to this distinction, I first, argue that the second analogy supports the weak reading, second,
show how in Prolegomena he uses the concept of causation in a way that is compatible to the strong
reading, and third, investigate whether this incongruity is solvable.
The Second Analogy In the Critique of Pure Reason, Kant argues that there is a necessary condition
for representing and knowing objective succession, namely causality. In B 233 234 he introduces his
argument as follows:
I perceive that appearances succeed

The Methods Being Used By Philippine President Rodrigo...
Are the methods being used by Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte the best way to handle the
ongoing drug war in the Philippines? His supporters say that his methods have been effective in
eradicating illegal drugs from the streets. They claim that unlike Duterte s predecessors, who have
done very little to battle the many problems that have been plaguing the country for many years, he
already has done much to fight many issues that involve crime, corruption, and most of all, illegal
drugs. However, many people believe that the drug war could have been handled in other, less radical,
ways. They claim that threatening, hunting down, and killing these drug pushers and users, guilty or
otherwise, is not the best to tackle an issue as serious as the widespread production, selling, and use of
illegal drugs.
I have read, seen, and heard the many sides of the debate on whether the current strategy is the best
way to eliminate illegal drugs. I do see the appeal in the quick results that have been brought on by the
methods that are being used currently. Yet, despite the rapid progress the drug war has been making, I
am also seeing the consequences of the use of such methods. I believe that there are better, less lethal
ways to handle the illegal drug problem. And I know that I am not the only one who thinks so. Even
though President Duterte s current methods have been proving effective in eradicating illegal drugs
across the Philippines, it is at a great cost; this is not only

A Brief Look Into The Evolution Of The From Atomic Theory
A Brief Look into the Evolution of DFT from Atomic Theory
Quantum Theory
The idea of atom existed as early as the Greek and Indian civilizations but more as a philosophical
thought rather than a well defined theory based on empirical evidence. Atom was assumed as
something that is indestructible and the smallest component that makes up matter. It took almost 2000
years for the development of modern day atomic theory with proof for the existence of atoms and
further subatomic particles. The archaeological classification of human history as stone age, bronze
age and iron age better depicts the evolution of macroscopic chemistry first. Much later through the
fundamental studies in electromagnetism and blackbody radiation, the discovery and ... Show more

In 1923 De Broglie described the movement of electrons as a wave with an associated wavelength (λ)
related as λ = h/p, where p is the momentum and h is Planck s constant. This hypothesis was
confirmed in experiments and Stern later generalized this behavior to all microscopic particles.
The contradictory nature of wave particle duality, the concept of a non localized wave versus a
localized particle, posed a problem in simultaneous description of position and momentum which was
theorized by Heisenberg in his uncertainty principle. This necessitated a new theory to describe the
non deterministic nature of atomic particles. Erwin Schrodinger in 1926 postulated the concept of a
wave function Ψ(x, t), the state of a system which is a function of particle coordinates, and its change
with time. Max Born dissected wave function and presented |Ψ(x, t)2|dx as the probability of finding a
particle at time t in the region between x and x+dx. Born along with Oppenheimer later proposed a
modification to the wave function separating the nuclear motion from electron motion due to the large
difference in masses. Time independent, non relativistic Schrodinger equation is an eigen value
problem and the solution to the Schrodinger s Equation gives us the wave function. For atoms of
higher atomic number, it becomes cumbersome to solve this equation, how it is handled we will
discuss shortly. Paul Dirac and Linus Pauling contributed more to the development of fundamental

Electric Grid Shutdown Paper
The U.S electric power system provides power to over 300 million individuals and is comprised of
more than 200,000 miles lines of transmission, its generating capacity is over one million megawatts
and it is worth above $1 trillion (Markey Waxman, 2013). The elements of the network are greatly
interdependent and, as demonstrated by history, a system failure of a line of outage can result in fall in
other areas. Markey Waxman (2013) provides an example of a power failure that occurred on August
14, 2003 when four hanging high altitude lines of power in northern Ohio clashed into trees and shut
off. Together with an error in a computer system, the shut down lead to a flow of failures that finally
left over 50 million people in Canada and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When one grid s part fails, it can lead to cascading failure phenomenon whereby the entire network
progressively collapses. Kiger (2016) noted that; for a system that relies upon several critical nodes,
like the United States electric grid, such cascading failures are pretty much unavoidable.
Ramifications of an Electric Grid Shutdown
The vulnerability caused by the electric grid shutdown creates considerable risks to the economy and
national security of the United States and also on the private businesses conducted in the nation.
Consequences on National Security
The United States electrical grid is essentially divided into three electric networks covering Texas, the
West and the East. All these networks comprise many thousands of miles of lines of transmission,
substations and power plants, a hundred year old combination of domestic utilities (Broick, 2013).
Recently the system has been modernized and thus has been experiencing cyber attack threat. The
increasing dependence on the communications based on the internet has raised the vulnerability of the
operation and control systems to hackers and spies. National security of the U.S. reported that the
Cyber spies have made a way into the electrical grid of the nation and left behind software programs
that would be applied to disrupt the system and maybe shut down areas of the network for a
considerably long period of time (Broick, 2013). A coordinated cyber attack could thus compromise
security, blackout commerce and destroy the power grid of the United

ABSTRACT:
As companies are becoming more and more diverse it s becoming more and more important for
companies to understand and manage it. The people of different background, races, religion creates
diverse workforce. There is an importance of having diverse workforce to provide better performance.
There are perspectives of managing the diverse workforce, which require organization leaders and
managers of being responsible of attaining better diverse workforce.

In short, they claim, diversity will be good for business.
Research stated that the Canadian companies leading the way in the area of diversity management
have discovered that by embracing the elements of ethnic and cultural diversity in their workforce
they have enhanced their ability to understand and tap new markets, both within Canada and abroad.
Research generated from a variety of fields predicts that important benefits will accrue from
demographic heterogeneity in organizations by increasing the variance in perspectives and approaches
to work that members of different identity groups can bring (e.g., Thomas and Ely, 1996).
IMPORTANCE OF MANAGING DIVERSITY
As the companies of today are getting more and more diverse, the need of managing the diverse
workfare is increasing. All Countries specially USA and Canada are having more diverse workforce
everyday. So it is becoming important for the companies manage the diversity to get better results out
of employees.
Research stated that Forward thinking Canadian organizations have recognized that competing
successfully in the new global marketplace requires more than the latest technology, most efficient
production processes, or most innovative products. Canadian organizations competitive strength is
increasingly contingent on human resources. Competing to win in the global economy will require an

Columbine Analysis
The Truth About Columbine Dave Cullen s purpose in writing Columbine is to expose the truth about
the killers. Dave Cullen exposes Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris the Columbine shooters; everything
from their extensive planning, their motives, and the harrowing results of the massacre are revealed
throughout Columbine.
The writing technique used throughout Columbine exemplify the different treatment of the killers.
Eric being a psychopath that felt no remorse, and Dylan being humanized as a person who is lost in
his own sadness. Cullen treats the boys differently by using techniques such as plot order; using a
rearranged common plot order makes Dylan seem like a more relatable person, and more deserving of
forgiveness. Cullen uses a reassembled common plot order by starting the book with a scene that
happened a week before the shooting. But instead of following the normal path, Cullen then uses
background information which includes the feelings of the killers. He then changes to a scene from the
past again to further progress to the climax of the book. Cullen uses this technique to create bonds
between the reader and the characters; in the process of doing this he makes leeway for Dylan s softer
side to be shown. It is important that he does this so that he can fully expose the innermost thoughts of
the killers. Throughout the book there are many accounts of the journals written by each of the boys.
However, Dylan s writings are where people tried to find truth. The

Lennie s Childishness
During the 1930s in America, many experienced years of harsh depression, where food and work were
scarce. Many struggled to survive during this difficult period, and as a result were forced to travel to
seek any work they could. The novel Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck focuses on two itinerant
men named George and Lennie, who struggled under the difficulty of these times. They find work at a
ranch to fund their dream of owning their own ranch and being independent. However, it is due to
Lennie, who, as Steinbeck effectively conveys throughout the novel, is a physically intimidating but
mentally childish man, that their American dream is shattered, as a result of his love for petting soft
things and his, unbeknown to him, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Among the most prominent of Lennie s sympathetic attributes is undoubtedly his frightened nature.
This characteristic is conveyed consistently throughout the novel even when Lennie loses his temper it
is due to fear. His timidity is often due to being scared of displeasing George, who acts as Lennie s
father figure: Lennie looked timidly over to him. George? Here, Lennie appears to be asking for
permission from George to ask a question, for fear that George will be angry. This demonstrates
Lennie s timidity and lack of confidence, as well as his childishness and dependence on George. One
significant incident which is used to establish this characteristic is when Curley attacks Lennie in the
bunkhouse. Lennie is terrified, and the novel states that he covered his face with his huge paws and
bleated with terror . Here, the author uses metaphor to compare Lennie to an animal. He describes
Lennie s hands as paws, and the noise he is making as bleating. This reinforces the irony that Lennie is
so physically powerful but so mentally weak, as, despite being strong, with paws like such of a bear,
he is making a noise like that of a lamb. By characterising Lennie in this way, the author presents him
as an fearful and innocent character, making the reader feel sympathy for him. Another way that
Steinbeck creates sympathy for the character of Lennie is by portraying him as childlike, with George
taking the role of his father figure. For example,

Advantages Of East Asian Development Model
The so called East Asian Development Model was devised as a reaction to sustainably high growth
rates in many East Asian countries in the post World War II period and particularly in the last 40 to 50
years. Generally, there are two competing models of economic developments for developing
countries: On the one hand import substitution industrialisation (ISI) and on the other hand export led
industrialisation (ELI). Many Latin American and African countries favoured the former after the
Second World War and erected trade barriers, introduced tariffs and tried to promote local industries.
In the first couple of decade particularly South Asian (India) and Southeast Asian countries (Indonesia,
Malaysia, Vietnam) also applied this model to a certain extent. A big exception from the very
beginning on, however, was Japan, which was quickly integrated in the world economy thanks to
American support and advocacy and also pursued very active government policies to promote
internationally competitive industries. This resulted in very high average growth rates of 9 % from
1953 to 1965, with the economy gradually slowing to a growth rate of 7 8 % in the 1970s and further
slowing to around 5 % in the 1980s which, it should be noted, was still far above the rich world
average, thus inspiring the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Wallpaper Of Purple By Steven Spielberg
The Sexist Shade of Purple
If Jaws was the movie that jumpstarted Steven Spielberg s career in the film industry, then The Color
Purple was the movie that was able to distinguish Steven from any other movie director during the
time. All of Spielberg s movies prior to 1985 were generally movies of either action packed adventure
or unnerving horror, but once Steven Spielberg announced that he would be doing a movie based on
Alice Walker s book, The Color of Purple, no one knew what to expect. Jump 31 years later, Steven
Spielberg s The Color of Purple, is still seen as a film masterpiece that deals with a grotesque yet
historical insight of African American culture back in the early 1900 s. Through the depiction of visual
art form of film, Steven Spielberg was able to highlight certain aspects of everyday African American
life back then such as the existence of sexism, racism and the importance of familial relationships.
However, Steven Spielberg emphasizes and brings to the spotlight the aspect of sexism of the
historical African American community. With a movie full of uncomfortable and daunting scenes,
Steven Spielberg is able to underline the evil social facet of sexism faced by African American women
in their community in the past. Steven wants his audience to know that side of African American
history and wants us to view African American women differently because of it In the very beginning
of the movie, we are shown a brutal scene of the main character, Cecile,

capital for the project was calculated, stating the risk for both the parent and subsidiaries. This project
evaluates the discounted Net Present Value which shows the estimated cash flow. The cash flow
forecast is for 10 year which incorporates International complexities as well as the cost of capital. This
project has decided that the initial investment will be partly financed by parent and subsidiary, at debt
of 35 % from parent (uk) and 35% from host country (south Korea) to complete the initial investment.
Demand forecast The first step in analysing the cash flow is the demand forecast to

wants to belong but his peers are holding him back by bullying him and he is unable to feel a sense of
belonging, whereas Doug rejects belonging to any group in the film.
Scott Hastings is ridiculed and abused for dancing his own steps, and Josie Cormier from Nineteen

Analysis Of Paulo Freire s The Pedogogy Of The Oppressed
In this reading from the book THE PEDOGOGY OF THE OPPRESSED , the author Paulo Freire
tackles three various types of educational styles and their direct influence on the student and the
society. The liberation teaching style, the narrative technique, and the banking style of teaching. As the
title suggests, there are two educational styles directed to the oppressed and the oppressor. These are;
the banking and the narrative educational style. Paulo Freire in a very persuasive way argues, the only
way to transform people s lives as a teacher is the use of the liberation approach where students are
giving the freedom to express themselves and communicate with the teacher to help the students
understand the methods used in teaching. This helps students interact, ask questions and solve
problems with both their peers and the teacher. According to Pianta, Positive student teacher
relationships are characterized by open communication, as well as emotional and academic support
that exist between students and teachers . The other approach is the narrative and the banking
techniques of teaching. These approaches make students not think critically and the author points out
how useless it is for students. Paulo Freire talks further and explains the narrative approach to
teaching. In the narrative style, it is seen by the reader that the student is a container to be filled with
information and to regurgitate back to the teacher at the student s request without knowing the

Some people love their first cars, their first new cars, or their collector cars. I happen to have a special
place in my heart for my current car. I drive a Toyota Solara SLE V6 and I absolutely love it because it
is me. My car is a color known as Oceanus Blue on stone grey and has a great set of options. I have
satellite radio, a six disc CD player along with a sun roof and yes the customary air conditioning and
heater. My car also has heated leather seats and lovely wood grain touches on the interior. The fact that
it is a coupe gives it appealing lines and a sporty feel. Enough about the specs of the vehicle and let
me talk a little about the sentimental value. The car also has a great on board trip computer that
provides information on average miles per gallon of gas as well as average miles driven per trip. My
car s sleek design is perfect as far as safety goes. I was rear ended once and with the exception of the
bumper the car was in perfect condition. The airbags deployed as expected and I was safe that time.
The car has also never left me stranded which is more than I can say for a previous car that I had. My
car represents a compliment to my style as a person. I like cars that are fast, have a nice sleek look and
provide a good service. My car gives me that service and that look that I crave and enjoy. The car does
have a V6 engine which makes it a bit hard on gas but not as hard as other cars. I love the car because
even after 5 years it still looks impressive on the road and it still works impressively. Whenever I take
out I am amazed at how well the engine responds as if it were new. Part of what makes this car my
favorite is the road trips. I take my care on extended trips to places like Tampa, St. Augustine, and Ft.
Lauderdale. I love the handling because the steering wheel is soft and smooth. One particular road trip
that makes this car my

A Summary Of The Movie Smoke Signals
Often relationships with others can be formed at an early age. Relationships can vary from being
friendships, or even ones formed between family members. Many relationships can prove to be
complex and tend to evolve over time. Both This is what it means to say Phoenix, Arizona by , and the
movie Smoke Signals illustrate the complexity of relationships between individuals.
As shown in the first scene of the movie we can see that Thomas and Victor have been together for a
long time. While the house was burning down, they were both being held and they were beside each
other. Although much of their time spent together as children is not displayed in the movie we learn
about their childhood interactions through the scenes depicted in Phoenix . In the short story, we learn
of a few memories that Victor and Thomas share; When they were younger the two boys watched
fireworks together on the fourth of July, as well as riding bikes together. Furthermore, the friendship
between the boys can be seen when Thomas saves Victor after he has stepped on a wasp s nest. In the
begging of the short story the relationship between Thomas and victor is shown as being friendly
towards each other; however, as the story progresses we can see the relationship continuing to evolve.
This proves to the reader how complex relationships between what appears to be two childhood
friends can be.
A contributing factor to the fallout of the friendship between Thomas and Victor would be how

tree in Seraph on the Suwanee (p. 37 pp. 50 53).

In Janie s revelation about her sexuality, she longs to be a pear tree any tree in bloom! This metaphor
for Janie s youth and vitality suggest she is in the spring of her life, with her glossy leaves and
bursting buds and struggling to make sense of the marriage that is buzzing through the air with bees.
Thus in this scene, Janie crosses the threshold from childhood to adulthood, a passage made complete
by her hasty marriage to Logan Killicks, a man far beyond the tumultuous spring of youth that Janie is
in the midst of in this passage.
The passages with the mulberry tree in Seraph on the Suwanee focus more on a sense of rebirth. When
Arvey first takes Jim to the mulberry tree, it is because she wants a cleansing of her sacred place from
her old feelings for Carl. The images of the new mulberries growing perpetuate this theme of rebirth in
this scene. The word green also repeats itself, implying a sense of youth. This is not so much
maturation for Arvey (as it was for Janie) as it is a rebirth, a changing of her ways as well as an
introduction into sexuality. The actual scene where Arvey loses her virginity is rife with violent
images; the tearing have cloth, the gritting of teeth, juxtaposed against images of passion. It is ironic
that this should occur in her green temple of peace, but at the same time, Arvey is essentially finally
crossing the bridge

Descriptive Lexus Car
It s 4:23 A.M. when I open the door of the Lexus ES350. LED lights fade into life, illuminating the
beige leather and cherrywood that make up the interior. As I sink into the plush seat, I depress the
brake and the starter button. The dash lights up as the car softly rumbles to life, then settles to an
inaudible idle.
The climate control begins battling the 90 degree weather as I pull out of the garage, and out of the
development. I turn onto the the country highway and head eastbound, bringing me by the coast. By
no means a driver s car, the ES does exactly what it s designed to: it fades into the background. The
suspension soaks up the road and carries you over imperfections with little hassle. The steering is light
and numb in that traditional Lexus way. The engine is nothing but a distant murmur, but harsh
acceleration causes the 3.5L V6 to sing. Sing may be the wrong word, as the noise isn t particularly
pleasant, but this car seems designed to discourage spirited driving, so it fits.

it s way to AT T stores, yet the interior still lookIMG_5145s classy and all of the electronics are in

interior modern, but compared to any other pre recession interior the Lexus looks space age. After
2008, consumers demanded the highest quality materials in luxury cars. But Lexus didn t have to
change anything, because thats the way they do business. Everything in this car is soft and feels

Prendick s Journey
Adventure of a Lifetime An old proverb says: A good friend listens to your adventures. A best friend
makes them with you. H.G. Well s book The Island of Dr. Moreau depicts Prendick s journey as a
roller coaster ride. Montgomery, an assistant of Moreau, saved Prendick s life and welcomed him to
the unknown island. By openly conversing, they both discovered their shared interest in science. After
living and experiencing the different aspects of the island, Prendick finds out that Moreau performs
vivisection, which is the practice of doing dissections on live animals for the purpose of research and
experimentation. Convinced that he will be next in line, Prendick attempts suicide. Moreau and
Montgomery wondered why Prendick would do this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While being led to the corpse of Moreau, Prendick and Montgomery were mortified and in disbelief.
While on an adventure through the woods with Montgomery, Prendick came across a creature that was
stalking him. They both avoided eye contact with the animal creature, walking towards the shore of
the island. Montgomery said, What s the good of getting away? I m an outcast (82). Montgomery
could relate to some of the qualities and experiences that Prendick went through. He felt like society
did not accept him for who was because of his beliefs. He knew that people, mostly the beasts would
judge him. Building a stronger, more compassionate friendship with Prendick made him open up
about the different things about the island and how he felt. Talking to Montgomery more about the
beast creatures, Prendick said, In spite of their increased intelligence, and the tendency of their animal
instincts to reawaken, they had certain Fixed Ideas implanted by Moreau in their minds which
absolutely bounded their imaginations (61 62). Prendick initially was intimidated by the numerous
amount of animals around the island because he was not familiar with the culture and life of living on
an island. Since talking with Montgomery helped him cope with his fears of walking in the woods.
Since Montgomery introduced the different facts and background information about the beast
creatures, Prendick was able to notice extraordinary aspects about them. From an unwillingness to
make eye contact, to listing distinct facts about each creature that he saw, Prendick proved that fear

How Did Qin Shi Huang-Di Unified China
Qin Shi Huang di was an effective leader for China because he unified China and made it as a whole.
This was very important because he was able to do the impossible, China was separated into seven
families and he took the advantage of making China into one whole family. These seven families were
called: Zhao, Yeh, Chi, Hah, Wei, Chin, and Chu (First Emperor). He also undertook multiple
construction projects and other projects that seemed almost impossible. An example of this is, when he
decided to build the construction of the Great Wall of China, something he is most famous for is the
fact that he built six feet tall terracotta warriors. He built hundreds of thousands of them because he
feared that all the people he killed would come after

Dance and music are the primary means of artistic expression in the Garifuna culture, and a lot of it
has to do with their History. The Spanish brought 12 million enslaved West Africans to work alongside

efforts to conquer the rest of Latin America. Less than one million went to present day USA and the
rest were placed in Latin America, The Caribbean, Portuguese, French and Spanish colonies that

Cyber Policy Essay
Russian Cyber Policy Efficiency In 2007, the government of Estonia decided to move a landmark, the
Bronze Soldier, from the center of the city of Tallinn to a military cemetery. This caused outrage in the
ethnic Russian community living in Estonia. It is believed that Russia distributed false news reports
about the desecration of Soviet war graves and the Bronze Soldier. These false reports more than
likely assisted with inciting the riot that occurred on April 26, 2007 and lasted approximately two
nights. McGuinness (2017) of BBC News reports: From 27 April, Estonia was also hit by major cyber

This means that the cyber attacks and the military operations that occur before, after, or during the
cyber attack must have been authorized and coordinated together by the same entity that sanctioned
the military action. In order for the Russian government to benefit from the effects of the cyber
operations without incurring repercussions, they must be able to maintain plausible deniability. If a
party wants specific actions performed at specific times it may have to provide instructions and
potentially the tools to perform those actions. Just as a computer may use a proxy to access a website
so that the website will not know the identifying information of the computer requesting the

directly and indirectly assist the Russian government with realizing the national objectives, depending
on if the government informed them of the true objectives. It is safe to assume that the relationship

Beriberi Research Paper
Introduction: I am going to discuss beriberi. Beriberi is a disease brought on by a Vitamin B 1
(thiamine) deficiency. There are two types of the disease: wet beriberi and dry beriberi. Wet beriberi
can effect heart function and, in the most extreme cases, heart failure. Dry beriberi damages the nerves
and can lead to a loss of muscle strength and, eventually, muscle paralysis. If left unchecked and
untreated, it can cause death.
Symptoms: The symptoms of this disease vary depending on the type, wet or dry. The following are
symptoms of wet beriberi:
shortness of breath during physical activity
rapid heart rate
swollen lower legs
waking up short of breath
decreased muscle function, particularly in the lower legs

A blood test will measure how much Vitamin B 1 is in your blood. A urine test will check the
concentration level of thiamine.
Rapid heartbeats, lower leg swelling, and/or difficulty breathing are all possible signs for beriberi.
During a neurological exam, doctors look for signs like difficulty of walking, lack of coordination,
droopy eyelids, and impaired reflexes. Later stages of beriberi will show memory loss, confusion, or
delusions.
Causes: The cause for this disease is a diet low in Vitamin B 1. Dynamics can contribute:
Abusing alcohol can make it difficult for your body to absorb and store Vitamin B 1.
Genetic beriberi is a rare condition that prevents the body from absorbing Vitamin B 1.
Pregnant women with hyperthyroidism (over active thyroid gland) need extra vitamin B 1.
Prolonged diarrhea makes it difficult for your body to absorb Vitamin B 1. Treatments: The treatment
for this disease is with thiamine supplements. Your physician might prescribe a thiamine pill or shot.
Monitoring and keeping up with your progress is usually done with follow up blood tests that show
how well your body is absorbing the

Battle plan ran against his position of always having the best ground or terrain from which to fight.
Not only was General Lee misinformed, but his soldiers were fighting barefoot, hungry, and low on
ammunition, due to the naval blockade imposed by Union naval forces. The Northern war effort
benefited tremendously from its superior naval forces, which allowed the Union to implement and

North was more industrial. Consequently, the South had to import much of its armaments
The Union Army had infinitely more supplies all through the war than the South, due to the North
being a heavy industrial and manufacturing center. A derivative of the North s success of the civil war
was their abundance of materials needed for proper warfare. Their soldiers were well prepared in
terms of ammunition, nutrition, and clothing where as the south was not well equipped at all.
Unfortunately for the South, the North positioned its naval ships to block foreign supplies and trade; in
hopes to starve out the confederate Army, whom were already suffering. This was detrimental to the
South, due to already problematic transportation problems. The train rail system in the South at this

by Christo Popov seeks to address how training of employees is expensive and worthless to the
company and how it does not increase performance. The research problem being addressed is whether
employee training is a waste of time and money and if the company is selecting the right personnel in
the critical skills for the business`s stage of development and what are the shortfalls of the program.
It is clear from the title of the article that this is no simple issue. In fact, the article`s can be misleading
at a glance. The author starts by saying that companies that are up to present codes of practice will

Kohl s Corporation Financial Analysis
American retailer Kohl s has become a prevalent fixture for the purchase of discounted clothing and
home goods in the mid west for over twenty five years. The history of the company however has roots
much more modest than present day market dominance would suggest. Dating back to a Wisconsin
supermarket in 1946, founder Max Kohl grew his small business to the most successful chain of
supermarkets in the Milwaukee area (12). By 1962 Kohl opened his first department store in
Brookfield, Wisconsin where an eclectic selection of merchandise, from sporting goods, motor oil and
candy, was sold (11). In 1972, the Kohl s Company which by then consisted of 50 grocery stores, six

By 2011, Kohl s corporation reported 1097 stores and a net income of 1.1 million dollars. (12)
Since its first public offering, Kohl s Corporation has shown steady growth and strong profits and
much of that is a result of exclusive and private brands, ability to embrace technological changes and
carefully adjusting its business model to changing customer expectations.
The launching of Kohls.com in 2001 has resulted in steady sales growth in the e commerce portion of
the company. To support the internet sales, a 940,000 square foot distribution center was opened in
2001 and a second one was opened in 2010. As internet sales continued to increase to more than 50%
of its previous years sales, a third distribution plant has been acquired in Edgewood, Maryland (16).
The new facility is 602,000 square feet but Kohl s plans to expand the building to more than 1 million
square feet by 2012. (15). This would indicate that Kohl s intends to continue expanding the e
commerce portion of the corporation and is making all necessary preparations to support the growth.
In March of 2011, Kohl s also announced its plans to remodel 100 stores, an 18 percent increase from
2010 (18) leading to speculation that Kohl s may be trying

  • 2. Revenge And Revenge In Hamlet The play Hamlet by William Shakespeare is about a guy named Hamlet going through a hard time in life, after the death of his father, and the remarriage of his mother to his uncle. Throughout the play were are able to get a greater understanding of who Hamlet really is. The actions of Hamlet in Shakespeare s master piece Hamlet proves him to a revenge seeker, emotional, and crazy. In the play Hamlet the first word to describe who Hamlet is would be revenge seeker. Several times throughout the play we see how Hamlet tries to seek revenge on people. An example of this would be on Claudius for the murder of his father. One way he seeks revenge is to make Claudius watch a play on how he killed Old Hamlet, making him suffer through it. Play something like the murder of my father/Before mine uncle. I ll observe his looks./I ll tent him to the quick. If he do blench,/I know my course. (2.2.574 577).If Claudius starts to look pale or uncomfortable Hamlet knows that the ghost was not lying when he said Claudius killed Old Hamlet. Another way Hamlet tries to seek revenge on Claudius is by killing him while he is praying, asking for forgiveness from the sin he has done. Now might I do it pat. Now he is a praying./And now I ll do t. And so he goes to heaven./And so am I revenged. (3.3.74 76). Hamlet then puts his sword away because he does not think it was a good time to kill Claudius. Another way Hamlet tried to seek revenge was when Hamlet heard someone in his mother s room ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Kant, Second Analogy, and Causation Kant, Second Analogy, and Causation Introduction In the critique of pure reason, Kant states, All alternations occur in accordance with the law of the connection of cause and effect. 1 This statement is interpreted in two different ways: weak readings and strong readings. The weak readings basically suggest that Kant s statement only refer to All events have a cause ; however, the strong readings suggest that the Second Analogy is committed not just to causes, but to causal laws as well. 2 To understand the difference between the readings, it is helpful to notice Kant s distinction between empirical laws of nature and universal transcendental principles. Empirical laws have an empirical element that universal transcendental principles cannot imply. On the other hand, empirical experiences require necessity to become a law, accordingly, the transcendental laws ground the empirical laws by supplying them with their necessity. 3In this paper, according to this distinction, I first, argue that the second analogy supports the weak reading, second, show how in Prolegomena he uses the concept of causation in a way that is compatible to the strong reading, and third, investigate whether this incongruity is solvable. The Second Analogy In the Critique of Pure Reason, Kant argues that there is a necessary condition for representing and knowing objective succession, namely causality. In B 233 234 he introduces his argument as follows: I perceive that appearances succeed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Methods Being Used By Philippine President Rodrigo... Are the methods being used by Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte the best way to handle the ongoing drug war in the Philippines? His supporters say that his methods have been effective in eradicating illegal drugs from the streets. They claim that unlike Duterte s predecessors, who have done very little to battle the many problems that have been plaguing the country for many years, he already has done much to fight many issues that involve crime, corruption, and most of all, illegal drugs. However, many people believe that the drug war could have been handled in other, less radical, ways. They claim that threatening, hunting down, and killing these drug pushers and users, guilty or otherwise, is not the best to tackle an issue as serious as the widespread production, selling, and use of illegal drugs. I have read, seen, and heard the many sides of the debate on whether the current strategy is the best way to eliminate illegal drugs. I do see the appeal in the quick results that have been brought on by the methods that are being used currently. Yet, despite the rapid progress the drug war has been making, I am also seeing the consequences of the use of such methods. I believe that there are better, less lethal ways to handle the illegal drug problem. And I know that I am not the only one who thinks so. Even though President Duterte s current methods have been proving effective in eradicating illegal drugs across the Philippines, it is at a great cost; this is not only ... • 5. A Brief Look Into The Evolution Of The From Atomic Theory A Brief Look into the Evolution of DFT from Atomic Theory Quantum Theory The idea of atom existed as early as the Greek and Indian civilizations but more as a philosophical thought rather than a well defined theory based on empirical evidence. Atom was assumed as something that is indestructible and the smallest component that makes up matter. It took almost 2000 years for the development of modern day atomic theory with proof for the existence of atoms and further subatomic particles. The archaeological classification of human history as stone age, bronze age and iron age better depicts the evolution of macroscopic chemistry first. Much later through the fundamental studies in electromagnetism and blackbody radiation, the discovery and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1923 De Broglie described the movement of electrons as a wave with an associated wavelength (λ) related as λ = h/p, where p is the momentum and h is Planck s constant. This hypothesis was confirmed in experiments and Stern later generalized this behavior to all microscopic particles. The contradictory nature of wave particle duality, the concept of a non localized wave versus a localized particle, posed a problem in simultaneous description of position and momentum which was theorized by Heisenberg in his uncertainty principle. This necessitated a new theory to describe the non deterministic nature of atomic particles. Erwin Schrodinger in 1926 postulated the concept of a wave function Ψ(x, t), the state of a system which is a function of particle coordinates, and its change with time. Max Born dissected wave function and presented |Ψ(x, t)2|dx as the probability of finding a particle at time t in the region between x and x+dx. Born along with Oppenheimer later proposed a modification to the wave function separating the nuclear motion from electron motion due to the large difference in masses. Time independent, non relativistic Schrodinger equation is an eigen value problem and the solution to the Schrodinger s Equation gives us the wave function. For atoms of higher atomic number, it becomes cumbersome to solve this equation, how it is handled we will discuss shortly. • 6. Electric Grid Shutdown Paper The U.S electric power system provides power to over 300 million individuals and is comprised of more than 200,000 miles lines of transmission, its generating capacity is over one million megawatts and it is worth above $1 trillion (Markey Waxman, 2013). The elements of the network are greatly interdependent and, as demonstrated by history, a system failure of a line of outage can result in fall in other areas. Markey Waxman (2013) provides an example of a power failure that occurred on August 14, 2003 when four hanging high altitude lines of power in northern Ohio clashed into trees and shut off. Together with an error in a computer system, the shut down lead to a flow of failures that finally left over 50 million people in Canada and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When one grid s part fails, it can lead to cascading failure phenomenon whereby the entire network progressively collapses. Kiger (2016) noted that; for a system that relies upon several critical nodes, like the United States electric grid, such cascading failures are pretty much unavoidable. Ramifications of an Electric Grid Shutdown The vulnerability caused by the electric grid shutdown creates considerable risks to the economy and national security of the United States and also on the private businesses conducted in the nation. Consequences on National Security The United States electrical grid is essentially divided into three electric networks covering Texas, the West and the East. All these networks comprise many thousands of miles of lines of transmission, substations and power plants, a hundred year old combination of domestic utilities (Broick, 2013). Recently the system has been modernized and thus has been experiencing cyber attack threat. The increasing dependence on the communications based on the internet has raised the vulnerability of the operation and control systems to hackers and spies. National security of the U.S. reported that the Cyber spies have made a way into the electrical grid of the nation and left behind software programs that would be applied to disrupt the system and maybe shut down areas of the network for a considerably long period of time (Broick, 2013). A coordinated cyber attack could thus compromise security, blackout commerce and destroy the power grid of the United ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Columbine Analysis The Truth About Columbine Dave Cullen s purpose in writing Columbine is to expose the truth about the killers. Dave Cullen exposes Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris the Columbine shooters; everything from their extensive planning, their motives, and the harrowing results of the massacre are revealed throughout Columbine. The writing technique used throughout Columbine exemplify the different treatment of the killers. Eric being a psychopath that felt no remorse, and Dylan being humanized as a person who is lost in his own sadness. Cullen treats the boys differently by using techniques such as plot order; using a rearranged common plot order makes Dylan seem like a more relatable person, and more deserving of forgiveness. Cullen uses a reassembled common plot order by starting the book with a scene that happened a week before the shooting. But instead of following the normal path, Cullen then uses background information which includes the feelings of the killers. He then changes to a scene from the past again to further progress to the climax of the book. Cullen uses this technique to create bonds between the reader and the characters; in the process of doing this he makes leeway for Dylan s softer side to be shown. It is important that he does this so that he can fully expose the innermost thoughts of the killers. Throughout the book there are many accounts of the journals written by each of the boys. However, Dylan s writings are where people tried to find truth. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Lennie s Childishness During the 1930s in America, many experienced years of harsh depression, where food and work were scarce. Many struggled to survive during this difficult period, and as a result were forced to travel to seek any work they could. The novel Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck focuses on two itinerant men named George and Lennie, who struggled under the difficulty of these times. They find work at a ranch to fund their dream of owning their own ranch and being independent. However, it is due to Lennie, who, as Steinbeck effectively conveys throughout the novel, is a physically intimidating but mentally childish man, that their American dream is shattered, as a result of his love for petting soft things and his, unbeknown to him, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Among the most prominent of Lennie s sympathetic attributes is undoubtedly his frightened nature. This characteristic is conveyed consistently throughout the novel even when Lennie loses his temper it is due to fear. His timidity is often due to being scared of displeasing George, who acts as Lennie s father figure: Lennie looked timidly over to him. George? Here, Lennie appears to be asking for permission from George to ask a question, for fear that George will be angry. This demonstrates Lennie s timidity and lack of confidence, as well as his childishness and dependence on George. One significant incident which is used to establish this characteristic is when Curley attacks Lennie in the bunkhouse. Lennie is terrified, and the novel states that he covered his face with his huge paws and bleated with terror . Here, the author uses metaphor to compare Lennie to an animal. He describes Lennie s hands as paws, and the noise he is making as bleating. This reinforces the irony that Lennie is so physically powerful but so mentally weak, as, despite being strong, with paws like such of a bear, he is making a noise like that of a lamb. By characterising Lennie in this way, the author presents him as an fearful and innocent character, making the reader feel sympathy for him. Another way that Steinbeck creates sympathy for the character of Lennie is by portraying him as childlike, with George taking the role of his father figure. For example, ... • 11. Advantages Of East Asian Development Model The so called East Asian Development Model was devised as a reaction to sustainably high growth rates in many East Asian countries in the post World War II period and particularly in the last 40 to 50 years. Generally, there are two competing models of economic developments for developing countries: On the one hand import substitution industrialisation (ISI) and on the other hand export led industrialisation (ELI). Many Latin American and African countries favoured the former after the Second World War and erected trade barriers, introduced tariffs and tried to promote local industries. In the first couple of decade particularly South Asian (India) and Southeast Asian countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam) also applied this model to a certain extent. A big exception from the very beginning on, however, was Japan, which was quickly integrated in the world economy thanks to American support and advocacy and also pursued very active government policies to promote internationally competitive industries. This resulted in very high average growth rates of 9 % from 1953 to 1965, with the economy gradually slowing to a growth rate of 7 8 % in the 1970s and further slowing to around 5 % in the 1980s which, it should be noted, was still far above the rich world average, thus inspiring the ... The Wallpaper Of Purple By Steven Spielberg The Sexist Shade of Purple If Jaws was the movie that jumpstarted Steven Spielberg s career in the film industry, then The Color Purple was the movie that was able to distinguish Steven from any other movie director during the time. All of Spielberg s movies prior to 1985 were generally movies of either action packed adventure or unnerving horror, but once Steven Spielberg announced that he would be doing a movie based on Alice Walker s book, The Color of Purple, no one knew what to expect. Jump 31 years later, Steven Spielberg s The Color of Purple, is still seen as a film masterpiece that deals with a grotesque yet historical insight of African American culture back in the early 1900 s. Through the depiction of visual art form of film, Steven Spielberg was able to highlight certain aspects of everyday African American life back then such as the existence of sexism, racism and the importance of familial relationships. However, Steven Spielberg emphasizes and brings to the spotlight the aspect of sexism of the historical African American community. With a movie full of uncomfortable and daunting scenes, Steven Spielberg is able to underline the evil social facet of sexism faced by African American women in their community in the past. • 16. Analysis Of Paulo Freire s The Pedogogy Of The Oppressed In this reading from the book THE PEDOGOGY OF THE OPPRESSED , the author Paulo Freire tackles three various types of educational styles and their direct influence on the student and the society. The liberation teaching style, the narrative technique, and the banking style of teaching. As the title suggests, there are two educational styles directed to the oppressed and the oppressor. These are; the banking and the narrative educational style. Paulo Freire in a very persuasive way argues, the only way to transform people s lives as a teacher is the use of the liberation approach where students are giving the freedom to express themselves and communicate with the teacher to help the students understand the methods used in teaching. This helps students interact, ask questions and solve problems with both their peers and the teacher. According to Pianta, Positive student teacher relationships are characterized by open communication, as well as emotional and academic support that exist between students and teachers . The other approach is the narrative and the banking techniques of teaching. These approaches make students not think critically and the author points out how useless it is for students. Paulo Freire talks further and explains the narrative approach to teaching. In the narrative style, it is seen by the reader that the student is a container to be filled with information and to regurgitate back to the teacher at the student s request without knowing the ... The passages with the mulberry tree in Seraph on the Suwanee focus more on a sense of rebirth. When Arvey first takes Jim to the mulberry tree, it is because she wants a cleansing of her sacred place from her old feelings for Carl. The images of the new mulberries growing perpetuate this theme of rebirth in this scene. The word green also repeats itself, implying a sense of youth. This is not so much maturation for Arvey (as it was for Janie) as it is a rebirth, a changing of her ways as well as an introduction into sexuality. The actual scene where Arvey loses her virginity is rife with violent images; the tearing have cloth, the gritting of teeth, juxtaposed against images of passion.
