The generation of self employment in non farm activities requires investment in working capital.
However, at low levels of income, the accumulation of such capital may be difficult. Under such
circumstances, loans, by increasing family income, can help the poor to accumulate their own capital
and invest in employment generating activities (Hossain, 1988). Commercial banks and other formal
institutions fail to cater for the credit needs of smallholders, however, mainly due to their lending
terms and conditions. It is generally the rules and regulations of the formal financial institutions that
have created the myth that the poor are not bankable, and since they can t afford the required
collateral, they are considered uncreditworthy (Adera, 1995). Hence despite efforts to overcome the
widespread lack of financial services, especially among smallholders in developing countries, and the
expansion of credit in the rural areas of these countries, the majority still have only limited access to
bank services to support their private initiatives (Braverman and Guasch, 1986). In the recent past,
there has been an increased tendency to fund credit programmes in the developing countries aimed at
small scale enterprises. In Kenya, despite emphasis on increasing the availability of credit to small and
microenterprises (SMEs), access to credit by such enterprises remains one of the major constraints
they face. A 1995 survey of small and

Clarity, Arrangement, Credibility, And Expectations
The five cognate strategies I chose were, Clarity, Tone, Arrangement, Credibility, and Expectations.
Clarity in writing is giving a clear understanding about what you are talking about. I ve used clarity in
my writing as a screenwriter by describing a character with clear and precise wording. An example
would be, I am leaving for vacation tomorrow and I won t be back for a month. Lisa Taylor will take
over my position in my absence. Take care . Clarity is when you are explicit with the details you are
relaying in your message. Specific details are key. Tone is how you express yourself. The mood of the
information you re relaying. I ve used Tone in my screenwriting to set a certain tone to the scene. If it
s dark and creepy feeling, I ll say it s dark and theirs a hissing sound in the air .An example would be I
feel really good about the new changes that are being implemented here in this office. I have one
percent faith in you that you can handle the load and that you will go above and beyond your normal
duties to achieve your quotas. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The hierarchy. Putting in order a list of things. An example in a letter would be We have three floors
and a Three Tiered System. The Top floor is for Higher management. The second floor is for sales and
the third for the mail room. Credibility is when you show character and develop trust with your
audience. An example would be Linda has been working with us now for 10 years and I have absolute
faith that she is capable of stepping into the role of CEO for this firm. Her credentials are impeccable
and I have complete faith in her

Jonas Use Of Memories In The Giver
Without memories, life is meaningless. But what does this statement actually mean? This essay will
discuss what it means and how they use it throughout the The Giver. Many of the memories Jonas was
given makes a huge impact himself.
What are memories? Jonas and everyone in the community had no idea what memories were, before
Jonas met The Giver. Memories is by which the mind stores and remembers information, also
something remembered from the past. The first memory Jonas was given was sledding down the hill
in the snow.(103) Jonas thought this was a very thrilling memory.
Without memories no one knows what the past was or how the current life their living in, was made.

Attack And Die Book Review
In terms of considering why the Southern Confederacy lost the Civil War, Grady McWhiney and Perry
Jamieson have published an interestingly well researched book that offers a fresh, new interpretation
for southern defeat. In Attack and Die, McWhiney and Jamieson submit that the foremost reason for
southern defeat came from an aggressive southern heritage that was steeped in a culture taken from
their ancestors, the Celts. McWhiney and Jamieson offer another, more salient reason why the
Confederacy lost the Civil War. Because Southerners were imprisoned in a culture that rejected careful
calculation and patience, often refusing to learn from their mistakes, the real reason the Confederates
lost was because the offensive warfare that was so foundational to Confederate wartime strategy, also
known as the Celtic charge, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Abraham Ratner Still Life Analysis
Abraham Rattner is a painter who display bold color and expression and reflect social protest and his
Jewish heritage. He was born in 1893 in Poughkeepsie, New York. His parents immigrated to the
United States from Russia to escape anti Semitism, which was hostility towards the Jews. As Abraham
grew up, painting becomes a part of his daily life. After graduating from Poughkeepsie High School,
he studied art at George Washington University, The Corcoran School of Art, and The Pennsylvania
Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia. In 1917, as the World War one raged, Abraham interrupted
his education and enlisted in the United States army. Two years later, when he returned to the
Pennsylvania Academy, he was awarded the Cresson traveling scholarship to study art abroad.
Abraham traveled throughout Europe for a year and then settled in Paris for the next twenty years. In
the 20th century artist continued traditions of still life painting in salons. Artist made personal
statements with their arrangements of fruits, flowers, books, and other inanimate objects and when
they painted these works in new modernist styles, they kept the public interested in the value of still
life painting. Abraham Rattner s painting Still Life Composition is one of the Brauer Museum of Art s
more popular permanent collection pieces, a major work by the artist that exhibits well the rich
qualities and expressive abilities of oil paint. Painted on a panel surface, this work stands astride

Eulogy For Lamson
I strive to be as generous and diligent as my great grandfather, Alfred Lamson. Lamson came from
humble and challenging beginnings. He was born in Lawtell, Louisiana to a farmer turned banker
father and a german immigrant mother in 1917. At the age of one, his mother died; and at the age of
twelve, the Great Depression started. Through these trying times, Lamson found comfort in Boy
Scouts. Striving to be the outstanding in scouts, Lamson attained the rank of Eagle Scout and the
Distinguished Eagle Scout Award in 1931. Aside from these prestigious awards, Lamson also earned
all 47 possible merit badges. I know the true challenge and accomplishments of these awards, as I am

I strive to be as generous as Lamson because I know that there are many things in this world that I
have received that I do not deserve, and I feel like it is my duty to give back to those who are in need
and are less fortunate than me. Currently, I am very frugal and selfish with my money, which is a habit
that I need to break because I internally believe that I should donate money to those who need it more
than me. If I ever become as wealthy as he was, I hope to use his generosity as a guide on how I
should spend my money. His continual giving allowed him to build many relationships and positively
influence others in a way that not many could. Also, I hope to impact others through serving the
community in the way that Alfred did. I aspire to be as diligent as Lamson in work because I have
seen the success that he has attained through simply pushing through tough times with a dogged and
persevering attitude. Lamson s diligence in his occupation and community service truly distinguished
him in his community and field, and gave him many opportunities to give back and help others. In
conclusion, I hope to contain as much generosity and diligence as my great grandpa, Alfred Lamson,
had in his work and service to others. I aspire to have the same work ethic as my grandfather, James

Essay on Role of Geography in the Arab-Israeli Conflict
The lust for territory seems to be the real source of conflict, and until one group is satisfied, the
appearance of religious conflict will exist in the Middle East. It seems as if the real truth needs to be
portrayed to the rest of the world about the true reason for the Arab Israeli conflict, which is
geography and ultimately water. The lack of water stems from the Great Syrian Rift Zone, and causes
damage to Israeli land which ultimately decreases the amount of water that flows into the Red Sea.
This lack of water causes Israel and other surrounding countries (Jordan, Lebanon, and the Occupied
Territories) to only have one source of surface water, which is from Lake Kinnaret, or the Sea of
Galilee that flows into the Jordan River. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The use of the Hezbollah has greatly added to the continuation of the Arab Israeli conflict and has
limited cooperation in all regions. The Hezbollah also attracted U.S. attention after a suicide bomber
killed over two hundred Marines in Beirut.
In the end, the whole Arab Israel conflict comes down to fighting for the Occupied Territories due to
their overarching benefits. This conflict is not a religious struggle, but rather a struggle for territory
and it will continue with war crimes and human rights violations for a long time until everyone in the
Middle East is satisfied, which has a very low probability of occurring.
EFFECTS ON REGIONAL AND GLOBAL SECURITY
As one can see this issue directly impacts the Middle East because it drives all actions that develop
there. Whatever attacks that come from this area are more than likely directly related the Arab Israeli
conflict. Recently a survey conducted in EU of 7,515 people in 15 EU countries said yes 60% of the
time to the question of if Israel presents a threat to peace. This percentage put Israel ahead of Iran,
North Korea, and the U.S. each of which had a 53% yes vote. This survey, not knowing the sampling
population, reflects a general notion that Israel is a threat to global security. This may or may not be
true, but what is true is that the Arab Israeli conflict is a threat to regional security, and some of the
threats

Why Be An Educated Person Essay
Why be an educated person?
The term education can mean many things. An education is the collective knowledge a person has, but
what does an education mean? Although an education can be paid for, no one can physically give you
an education, so it is not a gift. There are societal situations where an education is a necessity, but not
many globally. Education is a tool to be utilized differently in every part of the world. Knowledge is
power, but some knowledge is more powerful depending on your region. If you are part a primitive
tribe in New Guinea, a person that is considered to be educated may be illiterate. Whereas in America,
an illiterate person would have trouble functioning at all in society. Education is a tool that is to be ...

This situation exemplifies the problems that one can face when an education is desired but outside
scarcities disallow.
There are some circumstances where special educational aspects are a necessity in a certain region,
but education is not global. In most developed countries a lawyer would be considered an educated
person, but if a lawyer was sent to a more primitive society he would be lost. A farmer educated in
cultivation in Nebraska could nourish himself indefinitely, but take away his farm and he has nothing
but the knowledge of farming. There are certain things that a person must know in order to have the
power to survive in a chosen society. These things change with regards to the society at hand. In more
developed places it is pertinent that you know how to read. Without this skill a person will remained
severely uninformed, disconnected, and uneducated. The ability to read is the stepping stone to self
education. A literate person with motivation and knowledge of construction can become successful
with very little institutionalized education. This skill, as it applies to American social culture, is the
most important attribute of an education. Without the ability to read, a person would have to either
settle for an extremely unskilled job, grow their own food, or resort to thievery. In a accomplished
society such as

A Evolution Of The Late Jurassic
Charophytes are green algae that have been found in fresh water to moderately brackish water
environments. Their gyrogonites are minute oval or round calcareous bodies that represent the
calcified parts of the oogonium i. e. the female reproductive organs. Most of the plant consists of
organic matter that decays shortly after death. Under some circumstances the stems and branches of
the plant become calcified and are also preserved in the geologic record. In the absence of the
planktonic and benthonic foraminifers, ostracodes and charophytes becomes valuable biostratigraphic
tool for geologic analysis and interpretation (Carbonel, 1988; Colin Lethiers, 1988; Martin Closas
Schudack, 1996, Schudack, 2000 2006). Moreover the charophytes have been the focus of intensive
work since the early 1960, since it was hope to obtain valuable information on the dating,
biostratigraphic and paleoecology of the strata (Schudack, 2002 2004). The present study attempts a
comprehensive biostratigraphic evolution of the Late Jurassic Early Cretaceous sequence at Messak
escarpment based on the stratigraphic distribution of the charophytes species as this type of
microfossils have not been studied before in Libya as well as the study area has never been studied for
charophytes beforehand. On the basis of the stratigraphic distribution of charophytes it is possible to
subdivide the Late Jurassic Early Cretaceous sequence into four assemblage zones. These are

The Narrative Paradigm
The narrative paradigm is a communication theory that argues the strengths of storytelling over
argumentative communication. Narrative is any verbal and nonverbal interpretation which is arranged
logically to generate a meaning. This communication process is influenced by the experiences and
other factors from the past. The concept upholds the idea that communication happens between a
narrator and the listener in the form of a story. The story includes the events that the narrator wants to
communicate with the listener and does not fit in a single category. The theory has several principals
and assumptions in support of its claim. The objective of this research essay is to discover the
importance of Walter Fisher s famous theory and how it can be used to solve real life problems. There
s been a recent increase in what critics are calling dark humor advertisement. Dark comedy is a comic
style that makes light of subject matter that is generally considered to be a taboo. Though the benefits
of advertising are widely recognized, some critics still question its ethicality. Historically, scholars
have criticized advertising for the way it influences our society primarily because of its potential
implications such as stereotyping, influence on children and sexual pre occupation. The theory of
narrative paradigm can be used as a perspective tool to evaluate potential moral and ethical issues in
advertisement, because it offers a series of criteria that reason with effective

Gender Roles In Arthur Conan Doyle s The Sign Of Four
The British Empire in the 19th century was flourishing, and no colony was more important to the
British than India, especially the unsuccessful 1857 Indian rebellion against British rule, which plays
an important if beneath the surface role in Arthur Conan Doyle s mystery novel, The Sign of Four. It
follows Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson as they try and solve the mystery of Miss Morstan s father s
disappearance and the mysterious pearls she has been receiving for the past six years. In Conan Doyle
s London, the influence of imperialism and Britain s colonies are visible in the décor of the home of
Thaddeus Sholto, in the form of artwork, rugs, and tapestries, all referred to as eastern luxuries . The
imperial theme does not stand on its own, however; the Agra Treasure also influences gender roles and
masculinity by affecting the relationship between Watson and Miss Morstan. In particular, it threatens
Watson s masculinity and largely determines whether or not he can marry Miss Morstan. Arthur
Conan Doyle s The Sign of Four upholds traditional gender norms through the love story of the simple
governess, Miss Morstan and the insecure Dr. Watson, but at the same time, he denounces love as an
emotion that leads people astray. The looming prospect of Miss Morstan becoming extremely wealthy
clearly weighs on Watson, and he becomes insecure with his own life and his ability to be able to love
this woman. What was I, he asked, an army surgeon with a weak leg and a weaker

Analysis Of The Sherman Anti Trust Act Of 1890
Price manipulation
As a consumer, we all get frustrated when we think a listed price is too high whether it is a necessity,
and we have to buy it, or we just really want it. Some of the largest complaints by consumers today
are directed towards the cost of goods. Marketing research has shown us that the costs of some items
are being intentionally raised based on aspects of the individual who is making the purchase. The
manipulation of prices can be broken down into three main issues: price fixing, price gouging, and
price discrimination. Are there any positive or beneficial reasons to do this? Yes and no, the following
paragraphs provide information about each practice individually.
Price fixing occurs when competitors of the same industry agree to raise, lower, or stabilize the prices
of their products. This is classified as a horizontal agreement because it involves competitors. They do
this in order to manipulate prices to gain an unfair advantage. The government has a law in place for
this issue called the Sherman Anti Trust Act of 1890. This law requires each company to set its prices
and other terms on its own. Generally, the consumer expects the price of a product to be determined
by the current supply and demand. This is not the case with price fixing, as competitors use this tactic
to skew the market. Price fixing is illegal and difficult to catch, but there are signs that could be
helpful in determining if price fixing is in play. If competitors have

The Pros And Cons Of The California Water Project
6.The California Water Project takes water from northern California to the south through various
means. The two sides have disagreements on how the water should be used. Northern Californians
argue that if they sent more water to the south, they would waste it, resulting in the Sacramento River
being degraded. However, southern Californians still want more water, because they feel that their
growing populations and agricultural needs require the water. The Aral Sea was the world s fourth
largest freshwater lake in 1960. Since then, there has been a water transfer project using mainly a
canal that sends water to numerous locations across Asia. It is now almost dry because of our use.
Some ways it has been effected include: it s lost 72 feet of height, 89% of its volume, and has been
split in half. Also, its salinity increased sevenfold while toxicity increased (resulting in contaminated
drinking water and health issues). Recovery efforts soon began in 1999, and with the contribution of
600 million dollars from the UN and the World Bank. Surrounding countries also worked hard, and
now the situation, though still progressing toward the worse, is more or less stable. China s South
North Water Transfer Project mostly involves three large channels. This project is very expensive, but

The fetus is sensitive to hormonal changes caused by different stressful aspects of the mother s life,
such as emotional trauma or malnutrition, the child can develop health and mental problems going

development for the biological systems to function accordingly. Children living in low (SES)
conditions experience family stress which alters their ability to regulate different emotions and adapt
to changing situations. Some stress can be good. Mild and predictable forms of stress that are
manageable and short term can help acquire coping skills.(21) To make stress manageable, the
presence of a supporting caregiver is vital. Being able to cope with stress also depends on the

Relationship In Roland Barthes s The Death Of The Author
Roland Barthes establishes through his theory The Death of the Author that although it seems practical
to unite author and reader, implementing authors personalities on a text limits readers understanding
of topics. He suggests disrupting this reliance so independent thinking will not be swayed by a fixation
on the author s experiences. However, a reader s comprehension can be aided through a present author
if prior knowledge is absent. Barthes stress on the importance of interrupting the author reader
relationship is verified through Virginia Woolf s Mrs. Dalloway and the dependence on her identity to
make sense of existing topics of anxiety and repression. Barthes argues that relying on authors
identities to uncover meaning is a limiting explanation for a text. He suggests abandoning
romanticizing writers personalities to disrupt the idea that authors confide in readers by using
characters as vehicles for personal meaning (Barthes 84). Instead, words are separate from the
intentions of the author and act as agents of information in themselves as the action of writing knows a
subject, not a person. Barthes claims a disaffiliation between author and reader should be enforced to
free the text of an author s interpretations so the reader can make personal connections. When a writer
is through with a text, they are disassociated from it. They are only necessary to replicate pre existing
cultural ideas using linguistics that preform, not record. It is these stories

The Old Soldiers Home They freely risked life and limb to protect the nation, and it seems but simple
justice for the nation to care for them when unable to care for themselves (Guide Publishing 1) was a
shared opinion of many by the end of the Civil War. After these men have put their life on the line for
the nation, any train of thought opposite of this would be absurd. Injury from the war is expected, but
unfortunately, some of the blows these vets received were too harsh to bounce back from. Over

among the best and heavily used libraries in the state (Burns 1).The hospital of the Soldiers Home,
which was undoubtedly the most important part of the home, was record breaking as well. The Central
Branch s hospital was the first hospital to be completed in Montgomery County and was dedicated in
May of 1870. Last but not least, the chapel. The church s construction began in 1868 and was soon

Taking Ireland For The Irish Essay
Another cause common to both groups of nationalists was getting Ireland for the Irish , as O Connell
said during his efforts for Repeal, or ensuring that the Irish people had control of their own affairs.
This might not seem like a major problem today, but at that point, Ireland was being governed from
another country that many felt didn t have their best interests at heart. William Ewart Gladstone, the
British Prime Minister in 1886, brought up this issue when introducing the first Home Rule bill to the
House of Commons. Because the law came to Ireland with a foreign aspect, and in a foreign garb , it
didn t feel to the people to be truly Irish law or coming from their needs. Because of this, even

wasn t enough that the laws were good; they needed to come from the right source as well. There
were, however, points to be left to the Crown, including imperial affairs, the armed forces, and foreign

strengthen and honor the Crown rather than weakening or degrading it.
An Irish government was also a goal of the revolutionary nationalists, though they supported a

The liver is involved in many functions of the body which are important for survival. It is the main
filtering organ of the body and is involved in processes such a synthesis of plasma proteins, storage of
glycogen for energy use as well as excretion, secretion and detoxification of products such as
bilirubin, alcohol, cholesterol and drugs. Since the liver is the only organ to rid hemoglobin from the
body, one of the most important functions it carries out is bilirubin metabolism. The heme component
of hemoglobin is first converted to bilirubin by set of enzymes. It is then bound to albumin and
transported to the liver hepatocytes where the enzyme uridyl diphosphate glucoronyl transferase
converts bilirubin into water soluble conjugated form so it can be excreted into the intestines. If the
hepatocytes within the liver are damage due to invasion of HCV, bilirubin will not be able to be
excreted thus resulting in the buildup of bile. When bile builds up, the skin turn to a yellowish color
called jaundice. This usually happens during the later stages of hepatitis (Sunheimer Graves, 2011).
There are two phases of hepatitis C; acute and chronic. After exposure of HCV, 85 90% of both types
of hepatitis are usually asymptomatic but symptoms can occur during the acute phase following a 2 12
week incubation period. In cases of acute hepatitis, symptoms consist of fatigue,

Oh, Play that Thing and The Dead Republic by Roddy Doyle
In Roddy Doyle s series Oh, Play That Thing and The Dead Republic the world is shown to the
readers through the eyes of a wise fool, Henry Smart. The series includes a wide variety of magical
realism, and how Henry continues to fight social norms to get what he wants. The idea of society vs.
man and individualism takes a toll on Henry s pride by forcing him to jump from job to job or from
flat to flat that ultimately puts him in disarray. Each book s analysis should be in its own category, but
they have many identical ideas, themes, and characters that bring them together.
The elements of magical realism in a historical series, at first sight seem quite suitable. It is generally
agreed that the picaresque, with its humorous ideas on the social outcasts trying to endure an
aggressive environment, is a sensible move against the romanticize tendency of the plot. Magic
realism, with its limited interruption of mimetic rules, lends itself to a number of uses, postcolonial
being one of them. It introduces elements of grotesque moments that allow the readers to sense the
satirical potentials and it brings in metaphorical aspects to the plate. The aspects of magical realism
seem to play with the readers mind. The convention of picaresque combined with magical realism
builds a wider grotesque vision for the reader. It is not only the space but also the characters, the main
protagonist among them are shaped according to the defamilliarising rules of this magical picaresque
world.

Essay On The Second Amendment
How can the original writing and intent of the second amendment, be relevant in our society today?
The history of the second amendment and the laws that have come after are significant, dating back to
1971, when the Bill of Rights was ratified to the Constitution. The Bill of Rights is a list of
amendments that gives rights to individuals and limits government power. The second amendment
states A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to
keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. So, the original writing and intent of the second
amendment was geared to militia and military only, and it did not address a specific type of weapon.
The second amendments intent for individual Americans did not come into question until 1822. A
Kentucky court case indicted a man for carrying a sword concealed in a cane. The man was fined
$100.00. But it wasn t until 1856, that the second amendment was affirmed by the US Supreme Court,
that the ownership of a gun was extended to individuals as a right.

the only form of protection that we had to do the greatest amount of good for the most amount of
people, with the least amount of pain. The right to bear arms also worked with duty, as those who

For many people, freedom meant different things to many people. For some, it meant a new life or a

While in Bath, Sir Walter obsessed about the dearth of attractive women: He had frequently observed,
as he walked, that one handsome face would be followed by thirty, or five and thirty frights; and once,
as he had stood in a shop in Bond street, he had counted eighty seven women go by, one after another,
without there being a tolerable face among them . Tolerable Face is an example of figurative language.
Such a fascination with outward appearance severely limits Sir Walter s prospects of finding another
wife or intelligent friends and keeps him ignorant and self centred. Austen clearly uses the theme of
appearance versus reality to characterize Anne and Sir Walter. She evidently believes that how a
character sees others is a direct reflection of that character s personality. Thus, we know that Anne
Elliot possesses true depth of character and sincerity because her superficial family fails to recognize
her fine qualities: Anne, with an elegance of mind and sweetness of character, which must have placed
her high with any people of real understanding, was nobody with either father or sister: her word had
no weight; her convenience was always to give way . Anne is clearly the only Elliot who can see
reality : she understands her family s need to economize and recognizes Mary s frequent sickness as a
call for attention. This is moral significance; she

Persuasive Essay On The Fox
Scrutiny over skin colour seems ever so prevalent, the idea of diverse culture is ignored unless it is the

The children are like little birds trapped in a fallen nest and about to become prey to something new. A

it. A fox does not belong in the bush, yet it holds so much power due to its foreign weaponry. Birds

Kiplings poem boots is about the endless marching done in Africa. Kipling explains how the soldier

Fah Loan Facts
10 Facts and Myths of FHA Loans
Like many other phenomena, loans guaranteed by the Federal Housing Administration have had their
fair share of myths and facts. Some of the most common myths and facts of FHA loans are briefly
discussed below.
1. It is impossible to get FHA insured loans if you don t have good credit MYTH
FHA is the most lenient loan program available. FHA will insure a loan for a borrower with a mid
FICO score of 580 and still be eligible for 3.5% down payment. However, borrowers with credit
scores lower than 500 can still qualify. They must have at least 10% to use as a down payment.
2. Loans insured by FHA are particularly designed for the poor MYTH

The FHA, however, removed these hurdles for homebuyers who want to buy foreclosed houses.
6. A minimum credit score of 620 is needed to get an FHA insured loan MYTH
This is a pure misconception as the FHA is designed to help borrowers who have passed through a
legit economic hardship and can substantiate the claim. This means that loans are given to borrowers
that have a FICO score that is less than 620 and can afford the small down payments.
7. It is required that you get a Loan Officer to get an FHA insured loan FACT
Most loan officers cannot do business with the Federal Housing Administration. It is therefore
required that you find an accredited agency that is knowledgeable about the underwriting department
at the FHA. This makes the process easier and more effective as such agencies know how to go about
writing the almighty letter of economic hardship that justifies you getting the loan. The letter
determines whether you will be accepted or not as it needs to be written in a certain way.

The generation of self employment in non farm activities requires investment in working capital. However, at low levels of income, the accumulation of such capital may be difficult. Under such circumstances, loans, by increasing family income, can help the poor to accumulate their own capital and invest in employment generating activities (Hossain, 1988). Commercial banks and other formal institutions fail to cater for the credit needs of smallholders, however, mainly due to their lending terms and conditions. It is generally the rules and regulations of the formal financial institutions that have created the myth that the poor are not bankable, and since they can t afford the required collateral, they are considered uncreditworthy (Adera, 1995). Hence despite efforts to overcome the widespread lack of financial services, especially among smallholders in developing countries, and the expansion of credit in the rural areas of these countries, the majority still have only limited access to bank services to support their private initiatives (Braverman and Guasch, 1986). In the recent past, there has been an increased tendency to fund credit programmes in the developing countries aimed at small scale enterprises. • 4. Clarity, Arrangement, Credibility, And Expectations The five cognate strategies I chose were, Clarity, Tone, Arrangement, Credibility, and Expectations. Clarity in writing is giving a clear understanding about what you are talking about. I ve used clarity in my writing as a screenwriter by describing a character with clear and precise wording. An example would be, I am leaving for vacation tomorrow and I won t be back for a month. Lisa Taylor will take over my position in my absence. Take care . Clarity is when you are explicit with the details you are relaying in your message. Specific details are key. Tone is how you express yourself. The mood of the information you re relaying. I ve used Tone in my screenwriting to set a certain tone to the scene. If it s dark and creepy feeling, I ll say it s dark and theirs a hissing sound in the air .An example would be I feel really good about the new changes that are being implemented here in this office. I have one percent faith in you that you can handle the load and that you will go above and beyond your normal duties to achieve your quotas. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The hierarchy. Putting in order a list of things. An example in a letter would be We have three floors and a Three Tiered System. The Top floor is for Higher management. An example would be Linda has been working with us now for 10 years and I have absolute faith that she is capable of stepping into the role of CEO for this firm. This essay will discuss what it means and how they use it throughout the The Giver. Many of the memories Jonas was given makes a huge impact himself. What are memories? Jonas and everyone in the community had no idea what memories were, before Jonas met The Giver. Memories is by which the mind stores and remembers information, also something remembered from the past. The first memory Jonas was given was sledding down the hill in the snow.(103) Jonas thought this was a very thrilling memory. • 6. Attack And Die Book Review In terms of considering why the Southern Confederacy lost the Civil War, Grady McWhiney and Perry Jamieson have published an interestingly well researched book that offers a fresh, new interpretation for southern defeat. In Attack and Die, McWhiney and Jamieson submit that the foremost reason for southern defeat came from an aggressive southern heritage that was steeped in a culture taken from their ancestors, the Celts. McWhiney and Jamieson offer another, more salient reason why the Confederacy lost the Civil War. Because Southerners were imprisoned in a culture that rejected careful calculation and patience, often refusing to learn from their mistakes, the real reason the Confederates lost was because the offensive warfare that was so foundational to Confederate wartime strategy, also known as the Celtic charge, ... He was born in 1893 in Poughkeepsie, New York. His parents immigrated to the United States from Russia to escape anti Semitism, which was hostility towards the Jews. As Abraham grew up, painting becomes a part of his daily life. After graduating from Poughkeepsie High School, he studied art at George Washington University, The Corcoran School of Art, and The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia. In 1917, as the World War one raged, Abraham interrupted his education and enlisted in the United States army. Two years later, when he returned to the Pennsylvania Academy, he was awarded the Cresson traveling scholarship to study art abroad. Abraham traveled throughout Europe for a year and then settled in Paris for the next twenty years. In the 20th century artist continued traditions of still life painting in salons. Artist made personal statements with their arrangements of fruits, flowers, books, and other inanimate objects and when they painted these works in new modernist styles, they kept the public interested in the value of still life painting. He was born in Lawtell, Louisiana to a farmer turned banker father and a german immigrant mother in 1917. At the age of one, his mother died; and at the age of twelve, the Great Depression started. Through these trying times, Lamson found comfort in Boy Scouts. Striving to be the outstanding in scouts, Lamson attained the rank of Eagle Scout and the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award in 1931. I strive to be as generous as Lamson because I know that there are many things in this world that I have received that I do not deserve, and I feel like it is my duty to give back to those who are in need and are less fortunate than me. Currently, I am very frugal and selfish with my money, which is a habit that I need to break because I internally believe that I should donate money to those who need it more than me. If I ever become as wealthy as he was, I hope to use his generosity as a guide on how I should spend my money. His continual giving allowed him to build many relationships and positively influence others in a way that not many could. Also, I hope to impact others through serving the community in the way that Alfred did. I aspire to be as diligent as Lamson in work because I have seen the success that he has attained through simply pushing through tough times with a dogged and persevering attitude. Lamson s diligence in his occupation and community service truly distinguished him in his community and field, and gave him many opportunities to give back and help others. • 9. Essay on Role of Geography in the Arab-Israeli Conflict The lust for territory seems to be the real source of conflict, and until one group is satisfied, the appearance of religious conflict will exist in the Middle East. It seems as if the real truth needs to be portrayed to the rest of the world about the true reason for the Arab Israeli conflict, which is geography and ultimately water. The lack of water stems from the Great Syrian Rift Zone, and causes damage to Israeli land which ultimately decreases the amount of water that flows into the Red Sea. This lack of water causes Israel and other surrounding countries (Jordan, Lebanon, and the Occupied Territories) to only have one source of surface water, which is from Lake Kinnaret, or the Sea of Galilee that flows into the Jordan River. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The use of the Hezbollah has greatly added to the continuation of the Arab Israeli conflict and has limited cooperation in all regions. The Hezbollah also attracted U.S. attention after a suicide bomber killed over two hundred Marines in Beirut. In the end, the whole Arab Israel conflict comes down to fighting for the Occupied Territories due to their overarching benefits. This conflict is not a religious struggle, but rather a struggle for territory and it will continue with war crimes and human rights violations for a long time until everyone in the Middle East is satisfied, which has a very low probability of occurring. EFFECTS ON REGIONAL AND GLOBAL SECURITY As one can see this issue directly impacts the Middle East because it drives all actions that develop there. Whatever attacks that come from this area are more than likely directly related the Arab Israeli conflict. Recently a survey conducted in EU of 7,515 people in 15 EU countries said yes 60% of the time to the question of if Israel presents a threat to peace. This percentage put Israel ahead of Iran, North Korea, and the U.S. each of which had a 53% yes vote. This survey, not knowing the sampling population, reflects a general notion that Israel is a threat to global security. This may or may not be true, but what is true is that the Arab Israeli conflict is a threat to regional security, and some of the threats ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Why Be An Educated Person Essay Why be an educated person? The term education can mean many things. An education is the collective knowledge a person has, but what does an education mean? Although an education can be paid for, no one can physically give you an education, so it is not a gift. There are societal situations where an education is a necessity, but not many globally. Education is a tool to be utilized differently in every part of the world. Knowledge is power, but some knowledge is more powerful depending on your region. This situation exemplifies the problems that one can face when an education is desired but outside scarcities disallow. There are some circumstances where special educational aspects are a necessity in a certain region, but education is not global. In most developed countries a lawyer would be considered an educated person, but if a lawyer was sent to a more primitive society he would be lost. A farmer educated in cultivation in Nebraska could nourish himself indefinitely, but take away his farm and he has nothing but the knowledge of farming. There are certain things that a person must know in order to have the power to survive in a chosen society. These things change with regards to the society at hand. In more developed places it is pertinent that you know how to read. Without this skill a person will remained severely uninformed, disconnected, and uneducated. The ability to read is the stepping stone to self education. A literate person with motivation and knowledge of construction can become successful with very little institutionalized education. This skill, as it applies to American social culture, is the most important attribute of an education. Without the ability to read, a person would have to either settle for an extremely unskilled job, grow their own food, or resort to thievery. In a accomplished society such as ... • 11. A Evolution Of The Late Jurassic Charophytes are green algae that have been found in fresh water to moderately brackish water environments. Their gyrogonites are minute oval or round calcareous bodies that represent the calcified parts of the oogonium i. e. the female reproductive organs. Most of the plant consists of organic matter that decays shortly after death. Under some circumstances the stems and branches of the plant become calcified and are also preserved in the geologic record. In the absence of the planktonic and benthonic foraminifers, ostracodes and charophytes becomes valuable biostratigraphic tool for geologic analysis and interpretation (Carbonel, 1988; Colin Lethiers, 1988; Martin Closas Schudack, 1996, Schudack, 2000 2006). Moreover the charophytes have been the focus of intensive work since the early 1960, since it was hope to obtain valuable information on the dating, biostratigraphic and paleoecology of the strata (Schudack, 2002 2004). The present study attempts a comprehensive biostratigraphic evolution of the Late Jurassic Early Cretaceous sequence at Messak escarpment based on the stratigraphic distribution of the charophytes species as this type of microfossils have not been studied before in Libya as well as the study area has never been studied for charophytes beforehand. On the basis of the stratigraphic distribution of charophytes it is possible to subdivide the Late Jurassic Early Cretaceous sequence into four assemblage zones. These are described in ascending ... • 14. The Narrative Paradigm The narrative paradigm is a communication theory that argues the strengths of storytelling over argumentative communication. Narrative is any verbal and nonverbal interpretation which is arranged logically to generate a meaning. This communication process is influenced by the experiences and other factors from the past. The concept upholds the idea that communication happens between a narrator and the listener in the form of a story. The story includes the events that the narrator wants to communicate with the listener and does not fit in a single category. The theory has several principals and assumptions in support of its claim. The objective of this research essay is to discover the importance of Walter Fisher s famous theory and how it can be used to solve real life problems. There s been a recent increase in what critics are calling dark humor advertisement. Dark comedy is a comic style that makes light of subject matter that is generally considered to be a taboo. Though the benefits of advertising are widely recognized, some critics still question its ethicality. Historically, scholars have criticized advertising for the way it influences our society primarily because of its potential implications such as stereotyping, influence on children and sexual pre occupation. The theory of narrative paradigm can be used as a perspective tool to evaluate potential moral and ethical issues in advertisement, because it offers a series of criteria that reason with effective ... Gender Roles In Arthur Conan Doyle s The Sign Of Four The British Empire in the 19th century was flourishing, and no colony was more important to the British than India, especially the unsuccessful 1857 Indian rebellion against British rule, which plays an important if beneath the surface role in Arthur Conan Doyle s mystery novel, The Sign of Four. It follows Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson as they try and solve the mystery of Miss Morstan s father s disappearance and the mysterious pearls she has been receiving for the past six years. In Conan Doyle s London, the influence of imperialism and Britain s colonies are visible in the décor of the home of Thaddeus Sholto, in the form of artwork, rugs, and tapestries, all referred to as eastern luxuries . The imperial theme does not stand on its own, however; the Agra Treasure also influences gender roles and masculinity by affecting the relationship between Watson and Miss Morstan. In particular, it threatens Watson s masculinity and largely determines whether or not he can marry Miss Morstan. Arthur Conan Doyle s The Sign of Four upholds traditional gender norms through the love story of the simple governess, Miss Morstan and the insecure Dr. Watson, but at the same time, he denounces love as an emotion that leads people astray. The looming prospect of Miss Morstan becoming extremely wealthy clearly weighs on Watson, and he becomes insecure with his own life and his ability to be able to love this woman. • 17. Analysis Of The Sherman Anti Trust Act Of 1890 Price manipulation As a consumer, we all get frustrated when we think a listed price is too high whether it is a necessity, and we have to buy it, or we just really want it. Some of the largest complaints by consumers today are directed towards the cost of goods. Marketing research has shown us that the costs of some items are being intentionally raised based on aspects of the individual who is making the purchase. The manipulation of prices can be broken down into three main issues: price fixing, price gouging, and price discrimination. Are there any positive or beneficial reasons to do this? Yes and no, the following paragraphs provide information about each practice individually. Price fixing occurs when competitors of the same industry agree to raise, lower, or stabilize the prices of their products. This is classified as a horizontal agreement because it involves competitors. They do this in order to manipulate prices to gain an unfair advantage. The government has a law in place for this issue called the Sherman Anti Trust Act of 1890. This law requires each company to set its prices and other terms on its own. Generally, the consumer expects the price of a product to be determined by the current supply and demand. This is not the case with price fixing, as competitors use this tactic to skew the market. Price fixing is illegal and difficult to catch, but there are signs that could be helpful in determining if price fixing is in play. If competitors have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The two sides have disagreements on how the water should be used. Northern Californians argue that if they sent more water to the south, they would waste it, resulting in the Sacramento River being degraded. However, southern Californians still want more water, because they feel that their growing populations and agricultural needs require the water. The Aral Sea was the world s fourth largest freshwater lake in 1960. Since then, there has been a water transfer project using mainly a canal that sends water to numerous locations across Asia. • 21. Relationship In Roland Barthes s The Death Of The Author Roland Barthes establishes through his theory The Death of the Author that although it seems practical to unite author and reader, implementing authors personalities on a text limits readers understanding of topics. He suggests disrupting this reliance so independent thinking will not be swayed by a fixation on the author s experiences. However, a reader s comprehension can be aided through a present author if prior knowledge is absent. Barthes stress on the importance of interrupting the author reader relationship is verified through Virginia Woolf s Mrs. Dalloway and the dependence on her identity to make sense of existing topics of anxiety and repression. Barthes argues that relying on authors identities to uncover meaning is a limiting explanation for a text. He suggests abandoning romanticizing writers personalities to disrupt the idea that authors confide in readers by using characters as vehicles for personal meaning (Barthes 84). Instead, words are separate from the intentions of the author and act as agents of information in themselves as the action of writing knows a subject, not a person. Barthes claims a disaffiliation between author and reader should be enforced to free the text of an author s interpretations so the reader can make personal connections. When a writer is through with a text, they are disassociated from it. They are only necessary to replicate pre existing cultural ideas using linguistics that preform, not record. This might not seem like a major problem today, but at that point, Ireland was being governed from another country that many felt didn t have their best interests at heart. William Ewart Gladstone, the British Prime Minister in 1886, brought up this issue when introducing the first Home Rule bill to the House of Commons. Because the law came to Ireland with a foreign aspect, and in a foreign garb , it didn t feel to the people to be truly Irish law or coming from their needs. Because of this, even legislation with good intentions were met with distrust and displeasure. He argued that sometimes it wasn t enough that the laws were good; they needed to come from the right source as well. There were, however, points to be left to the Crown, including imperial affairs, the armed forces, and foreign relations. They also shouldn t pass a law favoring one religion over another. The Home Rule Conference agreed on these points, asking only for control over domestic affairs to be placed in the hands of an Irish Parliament. It is the main filtering organ of the body and is involved in processes such a synthesis of plasma proteins, storage of glycogen for energy use as well as excretion, secretion and detoxification of products such as bilirubin, alcohol, cholesterol and drugs. Since the liver is the only organ to rid hemoglobin from the body, one of the most important functions it carries out is bilirubin metabolism. The heme component of hemoglobin is first converted to bilirubin by set of enzymes. It is then bound to albumin and transported to the liver hepatocytes where the enzyme uridyl diphosphate glucoronyl transferase converts bilirubin into water soluble conjugated form so it can be excreted into the intestines. If the hepatocytes within the liver are damage due to invasion of HCV, bilirubin will not be able to be excreted thus resulting in the buildup of bile. Oh, Play that Thing and The Dead Republic by Roddy Doyle In Roddy Doyle s series Oh, Play That Thing and The Dead Republic the world is shown to the readers through the eyes of a wise fool, Henry Smart. The series includes a wide variety of magical realism, and how Henry continues to fight social norms to get what he wants. The idea of society vs. man and individualism takes a toll on Henry s pride by forcing him to jump from job to job or from flat to flat that ultimately puts him in disarray. Each book s analysis should be in its own category, but they have many identical ideas, themes, and characters that bring them together. The elements of magical realism in a historical series, at first sight seem quite suitable. It is generally agreed that the picaresque, with its humorous ideas on the social outcasts trying to endure an aggressive environment, is a sensible move against the romanticize tendency of the plot. Magic realism, with its limited interruption of mimetic rules, lends itself to a number of uses, postcolonial being one of them. It introduces elements of grotesque moments that allow the readers to sense the satirical potentials and it brings in metaphorical aspects to the plate. The aspects of magical realism seem to play with the readers mind. The convention of picaresque combined with magical realism builds a wider grotesque vision for the reader. The history of the second amendment and the laws that have come after are significant, dating back to 1971, when the Bill of Rights was ratified to the Constitution. The Bill of Rights is a list of amendments that gives rights to individuals and limits government power. The second amendment states A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. So, the original writing and intent of the second amendment was geared to militia and military only, and it did not address a specific type of weapon. The second amendments intent for individual Americans did not come into question until 1822. A Kentucky court case indicted a man for carrying a sword concealed in a cane. The man was fined $100.00. • 38. Analysis Of The Accidental Billionaires By Aaron... The Social Network reveals an ironic story of a computer genius who creates a global social networking website that now benefits over 5 million users, while he is alone in the end because of his cynical, unsympathetic and egocentric personality and behavior. The Social Network is a compelling movie and the movie makers had done a magnificent job using sophisticated cinematography, editing, sound and lighting techniques to attract their audience s attention and affection throughout the whole movie. In addition, they clearly appealed to pathos, ethos and logos to persuade their audience to perceive Mark Zuckerberg s negative personality traits. The film is directed by David Fincher, and the screenplay is written by Aaron Sorkin and adapted from The Accidental Billionaires written by Ben Mezrich. The story portrays the creation of Facebook by the founder, Mark Zuckerberg, in his early twenties, and begins when he was the sophomore at Harvard University. In October 2003, after Zuckerberg broke up with his girlfriend, Erica Albright, he was so angry and created a website known as Facemash to allow male viewers to rate female students based on their attractiveness. The university s network was crashed due to an enormous amount of traffic to the site, and Zuckerberg was penalized because of his willful misconduct. The popularity of his Facemash appealed to his schoolmates, Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, and Divya Narendra to engage him for programing their ideas of Harvard ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Lust By Simon Blackburn Quotes Lust: the seven deadly sins by Simon Blackburn is part of a seven book series covering the seven deadly sins. In the book Blackburn takes a wide ranging, historical approach, discussing lust as viewed by Aristophanes and Plato, lust in the light of the Stoic mistrust of emotion, and the Christian fear of the flesh that catapulted lust to the level of deadly sin. He describes how philosophical pessimists like Schopenhauer and Sartre contributed to our thinking about lust and explores the false starts in understanding lust represented by Freud, Kinsey, and modern evolutionary psychology. ( Lust. Google Books. Oxford University Press, n.d. Web. 1 May 2017. .) The Author, Simon Blackburn relays all of the information and gives his opinion on what he is writing about. An assumption could be made based off of how he views other philosophers and people he has decided to write about but without any actual interaction it is hard to tell his personality toward others. In the chapter introduction of the book he says It is not a task to undertake lightly, and I have to ask questions of myself. Do I really want to draw aside the curtains and let light disperse the decent night that thankfully veils our embarrassments? Am I to stand alongside the philosopher Crates, the Cynic, who believing that nothing is shameful, openly copulated with his wife Hipparchia? Certainly not, but part of the task is to know why not. Rudyard Kipling was born on December 30, 1865 at Bombay, India. Kipling spent the first six years of his idyllic life in India until his family moved back to England in 1871. After six months of living in England his parents abandoned him and his three year old sister, leaving them with the Holloway family, which in turn mistreated him physically and psychologically, this left him with a sense of betrayal and scars mentally, but it was then Kipling started to grow a love for literature. England refused to provide for these men, finding it easier to talk about the glory of their soldiers rather than deliver them sustenance. Kipling s tone is grave and melancholy but also shows a sense of rage and bitterness that coursed through his lines as well as his life. Kipling was more negative than most poets at the time and it is no surprise this poem was far less popular. Kiplings poem boots is about the endless marching done in Africa. Kipling explains how the soldier would march for days, even weeks with no one to fight, and because the war was still on the endless marching with nothing to do but stare at the boots in front of you would drive you crazy. We can stick out unger, thirst, an weariness,/But not not not not the chronic sight of em /Boot boots boots boots movin up an down again (21 23). Kipling even says, staring at the boots, not knowing when the next battle will be is even worse than being shot at. Kipling uses repetition in this poem to give the reader a sense of monotony. Kipling s poem says to count the bullets in the bandoliers and do not let your eyes drop or the enemy will get on top of you. It is not altogether too bad during the day because of one s friends, but at night the long strings of forty million are too much to bear.
