Essay on Family Relationships in Greek Mythology
Greek Mythology originated around 775 B.C.E. It all started with Homer s Iliad and continued on with
Hesiod s Theogany. These were the first two myths to be recorded in Greek Mythology. Both of these
myths reveal to us about their understanding of the universe, and about their culture. Not only do they
talk about their various gods, and heroes, but they also talk about how they viewed the universe in
general (Rosenberg 79). Greek Mythology evolved from two early civilizations, the Mycenaean s and
the Minoans. It was the combining of these different Greek cities and Kingdoms during 10th century
B.C. that created Greek Mythology. Its Geographic isolation gave it a place for mythologies to evolve

However, Uranus was afraid that Cronus might overpower him and one day obtain all his power.
Knowing this Uranus purposely tried to kill Cronus in multiply occasions, but Gaea would always
protect him. One day Gaea and Cronus made a plan to have Cronus challenge Uranus and take over
his power. So it happened, Cronnus challenged his father and was victorious during their battle and
Uranus was left to rot (Bernard 1) Now Cronus had become king of gods by killing his father Uranus
(Bernard 3). In both Greek and Roman Mythology, the relationship between parents and children are
distorted, strained, and bizarrely transformed, because of their greediness for power and obsessiveness
to be better than the other.
To begin with, the relationship between parents and their children are distorted, because of their
greediness and obsessiveness to be better than the other. In the story of Medea, Medea poisoned her
own children, because she wanted to see her husband suffer the way she suffered after he left her. She
decided they best way to get revenge is by poisoning her children, this way both their children and
Jason s new wife will die of poisoning and Jason will be left all alone in the world with no one to love
him (Rosenberg 204). This clearly shows that the relationship between parents and children is
distorted, because Medea was willing to poison her own children to get revenge on her husband.
Someone who is even willing to do that is twisted and evil in

Depression and Antidepressants Essay
Depression and Antidepressants
Specifically the serotonergic hypothesis and the action of Prozac
The cause of Clinical depression has long been a mystery to physicians and researchers. Many
different theories have been proposed, but no conclusive evidence has been put forth. However, most
of what we know about depression stems from the results of certain drugs which have been successful
in treating the clinically depressed. These anti depressants have led to the assumption that depression
is most likely due to a chemical imbalance (of neurotransmitters) which somehow leads to the
symptoms of depression. To try and write a paper on all the theories of depression would be endless,
as would be a study on all the different types of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The pertinent findings will be explained, and their implications on future anti depressants will be
addressed.
Many clinical studies have been used to suggest a role for serotonin in the propensity for depression or
suicidal tendencies. Most of these studies measured the level of serotonin in the CSF in certain
individuals. Results established a link between reduced serotonin neurotransmission and aggression,
impulsivity, depression, and suicidal tendencies. Other data, using markers in presynaptic and
postsynaptic serotonergic neurons have shown that reduction in serotonin neurotransmission is a
biochemical risk factor for suicide (1).
Other clinical studies have implicated fluoxetine s effects on serotonin neurotransmitters, based on the
fact that serotonin is synthesized from the essential amino acid tryptophan. Patients taking fluoxetine
who were in remission from major depression were given a special diet which was tryptophan free.
This rapidly decreased plasma serotonin levels, and after a short period of time (as little as 30
minutes) many of the patients began to have signs of specific depressive symptoms. Later, the
reappearance of more general depressive symptoms were observed in a majority of the patients. Thus
it was shown that fluoxetine has a profound effect on the neurotransmitter serotonin, and decreased

Characteristics Of The Communist Manifesto
The Communist Manifesto is the product and realization of a series of revolutions. Marx breaks up
history into a series of stages each with a recurring pattern of each stage ending with a revolution. A
power group, most often the nobility or the church, restructures the social dynamics after a revolution
in a way that benefits them the most. The restructuring leads to a class being exploited which is what
drives each stage. This pattern started in the ancient times and continues into the modern period where
the exploited class is continually fighting for better conditions but end up with facade of not being
exploited. The structure of the societies in each stage is a product of the preceding stages. Since the
beginning of societies, there has always been a subset of society that benefit from the exploitation of
the other. Because of this social structure, revolutions occur to restructure society however the end
result of each is not the intended one of the exploited. The benefitting subset gains more wealth and
political influence after each revolution while the exploited are given a brief period of freedom but are
immediately put back into their exploited state. The modern state becomes a power not for all but for
the benefitted who become the modern bourgeoisie. Marx s view of history is influenced by G. W. F.
Hegel s dialectical thinking. Dialectical thinking puts emphasis on the end product rather than the
steps leading up to the product. The Communist Manifesto itself

Character Analysis of Mary Anne Sweetheart of the Song...

Mary Anne Bell of Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong by Tim O Brian It is a well known fact that
experiencing war changes people; there is an innocence that is forever lost. In Tim O Brian s,
Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong , Mary Anne Bell is an unusual example of the innocence that is lost
in war because unlike the rest of the soldiers, she is a woman. Mary Anne s transformation from
innocent sweetheart to fierce warrior left readers with mixed emotions because although Mary Anne
felt at peace with her transformation, she was also disconnected from reality. When Mary Anne s
boyfriend, Mark Fossie, had her smuggled into Vietnam to visit him, she arrived looking like ... Show

Mary Anne learns how to clean, assemble and use weapons. She was described as having D cup guts,
trainer bra brains. (96) because she was so eager to learn everything, fear was not a factor. After
joining the Green Berets on night time ambushes, Mary Anne started to look and act more like a
soldier. Mary Anne s appearance started to change, no cosmetics, no fingernail filing. She stopped
wearing jewelry, cut her hair short and wrapped it in a dark green bandana (99), as though those things
were no longer important to her. Her bubbliest seemed to be gone and her body starts to become
harder in places it was once soft, even her once bright blue eyes had transformed into a bright glowing
jungle green (107). Mary Anne starts changing her ideas on her plans, still wanting to get married but
not right away, wanting to live together first and just test it out and maybe not have three kids (99). At
one time, those things were very important to Mary Anne, Fossie did not understand Mary Anne s
transformation. She was like most of the young men who went off to war in the way that her
innocence was dissipating quickly. However, unlike a lot of the others, her thirst for combat and
everything Vietnam continued to increase. Just like any other young adult, going through experiences
in life, people will learn from their experiences and will become less

Where Are You Going Vs. Who Walk Away
One of the most important components of a short story is the motivations and internal struggles of the
characters. Short stories can t give you everything a book can as far as insane details, so the biggest
part of your enjoyment and interest comes from the character interactions and their thoughts. In Where

Joyce Carol Oates explores the character of Connie, an average, self centered teenager. Oates gives
readers insight into the mind of Connie and how she feels toward the antagonist, Arnold Friend.
Connie has issues with her self esteem and her relationships, but she begins to have a much bigger
problem when deciding if she should go with the stranger. She knows it s wrong, but something about
it appeals to her. In comparison, Ursula Le Guin s The

into the moral conflict that the people have with themselves about the boy being treated horrendously
so they can enjoy happiness. The citizens are torn, as they feel awful for exploiting the life and health
of the little boy, but at the same time are selfish and want to enjoy their happiness. There is also the
choice to save the boy, and some of them think about this as well. Le Guin and Oates s stories both
differ in storyline and purpose, but the mindsets of their main characters are virtually the same as both

The Republic Of The Inca Empire
Peru is the third largest country in South America and is about 3 times the size of California. (New
World Encyclopedia) Peru has many different ethnic groups and was also the center of the Incan
Empire. There are still ruins and landmarks that still stand from this ancient civilization. There are also
various types of climate regions which truly makes Peru a one of a kind country.
History
Peru has a long history of people and groups that could possibly pre date the ancient superior
compared to the others, and that was the Incan Empire. The Incan Empire originated from a tribe in
Cuzco which became the capital. The Incan s dominated a vast area of South America including from
north to south Ecuador, part of Columbia, the northern half of Chile and the northeast part of
Argentina; and from west to east, from Bolivia to the Amazon rainforest. (New World Encyclopedia)
The Incans were not only powerful, but also very advanced. They created arguably the most advanced
agricultural civilization in the world. Machu Picchu was a prime example of how advanced the Incan
people were. Like all good things, everything has to come to an end. Spanish explorer named
Francisco Pizarro found Peru in 1531 which was a time in which the Incan Empire was going through
a civil war and ultimately led to their Empire. Francisco Pizarro captured the Incan Emperor and made
all of the Incan people comply with him taking over. After the Empire was taken down, The Spanish

Comparing My Writings Of My Personal Writings
As I have considered how to approach this essay, I thought it would be best to compare two of my
writings for each example. Providing two quotes for each example will be most effective in showing
the progression I ve made. Kind of a before and after take on this essay.
Example 1: Introduction

I chose these two snippets because they effectively demonstrate the difference in how the confidence
in my writing has increased. With the second piece, I was assertive, I did not speak in passive voice; it
was very direct. I chose also chose this because it demonstrates the progression from the body of my
essays specifically.
I ve come to find that my writing has progressed from very emotionally filled with lots of fluff, to
very informative with lots of evidence to back up what I ve said. As I m going into Political Science,
feeling does have a part to play, but what you say doesn t mean anything if you can t back it up. So it
really depends on what kind of writing you re doing, whether it be a research paper, biography, or a
newspaper column. Although, I do feel that my writing is taking the turn it needs to for the profession
I m wanting to pursue. It may not be what was wanted in this class or what seems interesting to most,
but it is exactly what I need for my future. So in that way, my writing has progressed. These two
quotes show this difference clearly.

Biomagnetic Therapy Essay
Biomagnetic Therapy
Biomagnetic therapy is an alternative form of healing that has been in existence for over 100,000
years (1). The AncientGreeks discovered the very first natural magnet in the form of the lodestone,
and Hippocrates, the father of medicine, noted it s healing powers (2).
Unlike the United States, Japan, China, India, Austria, and Germany all are advanced in the field of
magnetic therapy. (2). The United States does, though, use magnets in complex machines to help
better understand the body and brain, such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), which uses
magnetic fields to formulate 3 D images of the brain, and electroncephalogreaphs (EEG), which look
at the electrical activity of the brain. But, as for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The explanation: All cells that are alive are electrical; that is the outside of a cell has a negative charge
and the inside, a positive charge. This combination of opposite charges allows the cell to function
normally. When a part of the body becomes damaged, such as the body s tissue, the damaged area
responds with inflammation, which is caused by a lack of blood flow. This lack of blood flow blocks
the body s natural ability to provide oxygen and nutrients to the injured cells. Thus, the polarity of the
cells gets out of whack. The role biomagnets play in aiding damaged tissue is based upon the belief
that magnets can realign the cell s polarity, which helps the cell get back to functioning normally.
They claim that an increase in the diameter of the body s blood vessels is also an affect of using a
biomagnet on damaged tissue. This enlargement allows more blood, carrying rich nutrients and
oxygen, to flow to the injured area and leave with tissue s toxins. (1)
They also say that the magnet s energy has been described as a catalyst, which speeds up biological
processes and enables the body to heal itself and ease pain. This catalyst stimulates blood circulation,
allowing more oxygen to be distributed all over the body. (3)

Social Media Addiction And Internet Addiction
Relationship between Social Media Addiction and Internet Privacy: Informal community clients can
share diverse bits of individual data with others; in any case, these subtle elements might be abused by
companions. Net and Acuity s review (2005) of Facebook clients protection concerns found that 91
percent of clients uploaded their photos, 88 percent shared their date of birth, 40 percent demonstrated
their telephone number, and 51 percent composed their present address. Sharing individual data, for
example, this can lead to abuse of information, regardless of whether purposeful or not. For instance, a
few people share profile subtle elements such as their full name, sexual orientation and telephone
number with their companions (Wills Zeljkovic., 2011). On the off chance that the informal
community account of one of the client s companions is hacked, the spammer or the programmer can
abuse these points of interest to blackmail the client (Rosenblum 2007). The capacity to control
protection alternatives is basic to expanding the clients trust in their interpersonal organization
suppliers. Since Internet clients speak to a scope of various societies and ages, protection alternatives
ought to be clear, basic and simple to utilize. Clients must be able to control their protection choices
whenever. These protection alternatives enable clients to acknowledge or dismiss the scattering of
their data to others. For instance, a few clients would

The Use of Birth Control to Prevent Pregnancy Essay
The Use of Birth Control to Prevent Pregnancy
The dilemma of unwanted pregnancy has faced the human species as far back in history as the day
man found out that there was a connection between sexual intercourse and conceiving a baby. To solve
it, many methods were used some disagreeable, some dangerous and many ineffective. Fortunately,
today for the first time in history, a choice of contraceptives is available that is, safe, convenient, and
effective. Much difference of opinion about the moral correctness of sex without the possibility of
becoming pregnant, surrounds this subject. Since the Middle Ages, much of religious thinking has
held that the only proper reason for sexual intercourse was procreation. Thus, anything that ... Show

from unwanted pregnancies and was determined to prove it to the world. Shortly after, in 1932,
Hamilton Birth Control Clinic was opened and directed by Elizabeth Bagshaw. Despite opposition
from fellow physicians and the clergy, Elizabeth Bagshaw accepted the position and spent the next
thirty years of her life working with dedicated volunteers to provide women with inexpensive and
reliable contraceptives. I too am a firm believer in birth control. I believe that every child born should
be a child who will feel wanted and cared for. Birth control can free women from terminating
pregnancies and therefore greatly reduce the number of abortions each year. Birth control can improve
marital relations, maternal and child health and family welfare. Not everyone today is capable of
supporting three or four children. Therefore why not limit the number of children you have and better
support your family? There is also the factor of overpopulation. Many who favor birth control feel that
limiting family size is necessary for a better life. Increases in the world population are beginning to

Kitakata Ramen Business
Kitakata Ramen is a small, family owned restaurant that just opened up about a month ago. I worked
in a resale shop next door and was privileged with the task of quality assurance a few weeks before
they open officially. Business seems to be booming for them and people are always packed into the
entrance. They only serve ramen, as the name would suggest, and the plaza the shop is located at is
quite busy. The store itself stands out in stark contrast to the other restaurants nearby. The plaza that
the shop is located in also is home to a local Jewel Osco which, by itself, already sees hundreds of
shoppers daily. Lining the giant parking lot is a number of other businesses that also tend to be busy.
An optometrist office, a beauty shop, a real estate office, and even a Burlington Coat factory. Needless
to say, it got plenty of foot traffic in the months leading to its opening. Another great aspect of its
location it s the only ramen shop nearby. Right on the edge of the suburbs, it has a massive pool of
consumers that see its unique storefront and giant menu on its window every day. Most Jewel Osco
customers will live very nearby and will know that there really isn t a substitute for a quick bowl of
handmade, authentic Japanese ramen. In effect, Kitakata has carved itself a niche in the restaurant
industry by offering cheap food in the suburbs that matches the quality of a restaurant one might find
in the city for twice the price. The restaurant itself is very well

Grandiose Narcissism
Facebook is a mirror and Twitter is a megaphone, according to a new University of Michigan (2013)
study exploring how social media reflect and amplify the culture s growing levels of narcissism. Dr.
Twenge of San Diego State University studied more than 16,400 students who took the Narcissistic
Personality Inventory between 1982 and 2006. In 1982, only a third of the students scored above
average on the test. Today that number is over 65%. Dr. Twenge warns that narcissists lack empathy,
overreact to criticism, and favor themselves over others. They are incapable of cheering anyone else s
success. Ultimately, they led miserable lives because they cannot form and maintain healthy
relationships. (Aspen Education, 2011) Today s generation or the millenial generation has been well
known for being the narcissistic generation. The term Narcissistic was coined from the story of
Narcissus in Greek Mythology(Karrenbrock, 2012) Narcissus loved himself too much. The Millenial
generation had dedicated a lot of contribution to this because of loving oneself too much like
Narcissus. This gave way to Narcissism. There are two kinds of narcissism: the vulnerable narcissism
and the grandiose narcissism. This study focused on grandiose narcissism or grandiosity. Grandiosity,
as defined by Psychology Today, means an unrealistic sense of superiority, a sustained view of oneself
as better than others that prompts narcissists to view others with disdain and view them as inferior. It

Indeed this article reminds us that the use of cannabis in Colorado as well as the state of Washington is

The appraisal process has incorporated an integrative approach, a mechanism to scrutinize efficiency
as well as effectiveness of the player s performance. The efficiency underweights the value added by
the individual player in team performance and effectiveness evaluates the final result, i.e. overall team
performance. Hence, I utterly align with the objective performance appraisal method incorporated in
the The Dallas Mavericks , saying it has created win win situation for both the players and the owner
but I believe, nevertheless, subjective approach should not be neglected and hybrid approach. i.e.
subjective as well as objective should be used with cautions. A mix of both gives a blend of qualitative
as well as quantitative result and will help to come across the limitation of mathematical process.

Analysis Of Sharon Olds The One Girl At The Boys Party
While many leaders in politics, business, science, and education strive for change, there still persists a
deep divide between male and female roles in the workplace and in society. This gap begins in
childhood as demonstrated in Sharon Olds (b. 1942) The One Girl at the Boys Party (1984). This
poem describes a young girl who attends a swimming party where she is the only female guest. It
relies on science and math imagery to contrast the boys physicality with the girl s intellectual ability,
and to juxtapose her physical features with the boys features. This figurative language creates a
distinction to challenge the disparity between male and female roles and their separation in social life,
which begins at a young age. Olds use of science and math imagery serves as an extended metaphor
for the juxtaposition between the one girl at the party and the other guests, which represents the social
divide between the genders. Olds references to math and science contrasts the boys physicality with
the subject s intellectual ability. At the beginning of the poem, the speaker mentions that they [the
boys] tower and/bristle, she stands there smooth and sleek,/her math scores unfolding in the air around
her (Olds 234). This description of the party guests creates an automatic physical distinction between
the girl and boys (by comparing their tower[ing] and bristl[ing] appearance from her smooth and sleek
one), but also wordlessly defines her by her math scores, rather

To What Extent Did The Collapse Of Apartheid South Africa...
To what extent did the collapse of Apartheid in South Africa (1991) really bring about change for the
Bantu population?
The collapse of Apartheid in South Africa (1991) brought only a small amount of change for the Bantu
population. South still faces racism in society, due to the continual domination by the white population
with race interaction limited to the false rainbow television campaigns and promotional Africa
strategies. At the close of Apartheid, a number of false statements were used to convince the people of
South Africa of this ideology. A rainbow nation where reconciliation without justice had virtue. This
illusion of equality is still evident through the white socioeconomic clubs and areas still maintaining

Apartheid was a reaction by these Afrikaners to this rapid change. This insistence on racial apartness
became the political and legal doctrine of apartheid. It was an accepted Government policy that the
Bantu (native) are only temporarily residents in the European (white) areas of the Republic for as long
as they offer their labour there. (The Department of Bantu Administration and Administration 1957)
This injustice of apartheid towards the Bantu population is evident through the unfair distribution of
land. 80% of South Africa s land was given to the white minority population of the time, despite the
fact that they consisted of less than 10% of the population. The government also introduced influx
control laws to limit the number of permits released to black South Africans allowing them to leave
their homelands and work in cities or on white farms. The white government s forceful policies
included little to no spending on significant finances, which constructed services in the Bantu
Homelands. Schools hospitals and public transport, reliable electricity and running water, public
telephones and sewerage systems were rare. (L. Thompson, op cit, p 201.) This inequality and
unfairness towards the Bantu population was evident for many years before apartheid collapsed.
In 1989, the National Party of South Africa elected a new leader, F.W. de Klerk. 1989. The communist

further divided into four lobes for classification, frontal, parietal, temporal and occipital. Our most
complex mental activities like speech, memory, problem solving, planning, awareness, and the
execution of complex responses in the world are controlled by the cerebral cortex. Hence monitoring

During the 1920 s and 1930 s, the German film industry thrived under the Weimer Republic and was
one of the biggest and most successful in Europe. It was known as the Golden Age in cinema and with
the benefit of the Reich Film Act, which provided tax assistance to film companies, hundreds of films
were produced. It was the experimental age of film with new technologies and techniques in lighting,
camera angles and shot composition and due to the invention of sound, German film production came
to rival that of Hollywood in both output and artistic merit. The German film industry saw
international recognition due to their revolutionary expressionistic films that set aside reality and
brought the audience physical representations of emotion and theme. The most notable film that fully
exemplified this genre was, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari , produced by one of the most successful film
studios in Germany, Ufa, which also rendered the prominent film Metropolis , directed by Fritz Lang,

The True Behavior Of Violent Video Game Players
Austin Schuster
Composition Critical Thinking
February 24, 2015
The True Behavior of Violent Video Game Players In October 1958, a Physicist named William
Higinbotham successfully created the first interactive computer software purely for entertainment; a
simple idea of two panels bouncing a dot between one another. This was later rebranded as the famous
title Pong, the original that Higinbotham created was generated on an oscilloscope, which is a small
computer designed to test electrical equipment. Today, video games are huge in terms of consumer
acceptance, marketing, and digital file size. Video games are designed to be a fourth form of
entertainment, joining books, movies, and television shows. However, the content has certainly always
been changing within any given video game title; a larger, more recent genre known as first person
shooters (FPS) or specific role playing games (RPGs), these types of video games are developed and
rated by global software rating companies, worrying some consumers that most mature themed video
games will create violent behavior in a player. This speculation of violent video games affecting a
person s everyday behavior negatively is incorrect and ironically childish over a simple form of time
consumption. There are many types of video games, such as classic platformers we all know like
Super Mario Bros., Japanese side scrolling shoot em ups (Opa Opa), fantasy RPGs (Final Fantasy),
recent addition of FPS like Destiny, and many more.

Discuss the view that urbanisation in both the developed...
Discuss the view that urbanisation in both the developed and the developing world is unsustainable
(40marks)
Urbanisation is the process in which people move from a rural area to an urban area. Levels of
urbanisation are determined by looking at both the population of rural and urban areas. For the first
time ever in history more people live in urban areas than in rural areas. This movement shows no sign
of stopping with a predicted 1.84% increase in people living in urban areas expected between 2015
and 2020. And this disparity in rural urban growth can be a really damaging element if the urban areas
of a country aren t prepared for the influx of people.

This meant that slum housing and cheap terraced housing was built and factories were situated near
the houses in various inner city areas. This can be seen in British cities such as Manchester, Leeds and
Newcastle.
On the other hand, developing nations face more problems in coping with the surge in urban
population. They can be unprepared for the sheer amount of inward migrants or lack funds to properly
support and educate the new residents. Their urbanisation has happened in more recent years; and
some may argue that it has occurred a lot faster than it did with their developed counterparts. This
speed is most likely due to the technological age that we live in and the ease of travel that exists in
many developing nations. Unlike the urbanisation that happened in Europe circa 1800, the migrants
that are flocking to urban areas don t need many particular skills and the work is low paid both in and
out of cities. The city offers a better prospects to migrants than the fields do, and that is the prime
reason why anyone would move.
There are inevitable problems that arise with a densely populated urban area. One of these is the issue
of waste management. Countries cope with this issue in various ways, some of the solutions are not
available to developing countries to the high cost of them.

A few scientists who lived just before Newton s life were Nicolaus Copernicus, Galileo Galilei, Robert
Hooke. Copernicus discovered the heliocentric theory. This idea was revolutionary because before his
theory, people believed that the sun revolved around the earth (geocentric theory). However,
Copernicus presented the theory that the earth revolved around the sun (heliocentric theory). Another
scientist, Galileo Galilei, created the first telescope. Thus, with his new invention, he was able to see
the Milky Way, features of the Moon, and Jupiter s moons. While observing Jupiter s moons, he saw
that the moons orbited around Jupiter, not earth. With this new information, he was able to disprove
the geocentric theory because Jupiter s moons did not orbit around Earth, but rather Jupiter. Galileo
also found that everything fell at the same speed. He tested this theory by dropping two balls (one
heavier and one lighter) off of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. They both hit the ground at the same time (
Astronomy and Space for Kids ). In addition, Galileo proposed the idea of inertia ( The Scientific
Revolution ). Robert Hooke was another notable scientist of that time. Hooke created the law of
elasticity. This law states that, the stretching of a solid body (e.g., metal, wood) is proportional to the
force applied to it (The Editors of Encyclopædia Britannica). Hooke also invented the Gregorian

rights typically cite the Sierra Club ruling. More recently, bioethics issues have come under scrutiny
and must stand the test of hundreds of years of legal and moral guidance. The following seven legal

Understanding By Design Analysis
In order to create validity teachers must make sure that we align our curriculum to the standards we
teach. So how do we align the curriculum? To start off, alignment means the interrelationship between
the standards, assessment, and instruction we teach. To achieve this, we need to follow the goal of
alignment. The goal is student understanding. As teachers, we need to make sure we make meaning of
life s big ideas and transfer those big ideas. To accomplish the alignment goal, Grant Wiggins and Jay
McTighe had designed an alignment tool that creates validity in the classroom. The alignment tool is
called Understanding by Design (UbD). UbD looks at the teacher s role as a coach for making

stage is, What do I want them to understand? The main concept to focus on in the first stage is
Standards. To organize instructional units and plan appropriate classroom activities, teachers must
unpack the standards that is, determine the various components in a meaningful sequence of learning
steps (Guskey, 2005). The first step to unpack the standards was to look at the content standards and
find the big ideas. When I had to look at my content standards, I found it easy to locate. I used the
Pennsylvania Department of Education: Standards Aligned System (SAS) to locate them but because
Family and Consumer Sciences Standards are so board but yet limited, it became difficult. I was only
able to use part of the standards towards my unit. I had to pick and choose which standards will work
the best in my unit. Once I found the right standards, I would figure out the big idea, which in my case

statements, also known as adult speak . Enduring understanding statements should be something that
is important to know as an adult. For my enduring understanding, I decided to write: What I want

Face To Face Communication In So You Ve Been Publicly Shamed
Technological advances have undoubtedly changed the way that humans communicate with each
other, but is it leading the old fashioned method of face to face communication towards deterioration?
Popularity in the usage of cyber communication has most definitely expanded, coming with its own
advantages and disadvantages. The argument that cyber communication is possibly replacing face to
face communication is argued, while many fail to realize that face to face communication has its own
disadvantages as well. Both these methods of communication function in conjunction with one
another, consequently, one cannot replace the other. Jon Ronson is able to provide strong examples of
the disadvantages of cyber communication in his novel So You ve Been Publicly Shamed, while
failing to note that there are also definite advantages to cyber communication, as well as positive and
negative aspects to face to face communication.
Cyber communication has the ability to completely deteriorate people s reputations, as shown in Jon
Ronson s novel So You ve Been Publicly Shamed. Cyber communication, more specifically, social
media, has internet trolls hiding behind screens that voluntarily slander others. Then there are
everyday people, such as Justine Sacco, that choose to say the wrong thing and find their lives ruined

The Nature Of Evil In The Lottery And A Good Man Is Hard...
While there are many natures of evil throughout the world, the reoccurrence of social injustice
throughout previous generations have laid the foundation for many writers in the early twentieth
century. Authors Flannery O Connor and Shirley Jackson grew up in the thick of racial diversity that
America was enduring. The Lottery and A Good Man is Hard to Find help exemplify the importance
of moral and natural evil and its effects on the world by using traditional and untraditional forms of
these immoral actions.
In A Good Man is Hard to Find there are two main characters who fit the description of evil. Whether
it is the pretentious grandmother or the unlawful Misfit, O Connor touches upon the violence and
grotesque that she witnessed in her youth (O Connor). The grandmother is a woman who grew up
during the times when racial diversity was more prevalent and clearly was brought up by a successful
family. A little sympathy could be shown towards the grandmother since most of the narrative is
through her eyes, but like The Misfit she has cruel intentions. The sophisticated lifestyle she lived
isolated her from all the harshness in the world and led to her to believe that her way is always right.
This is until The Misfit approaches her and his acquaintance takes the remaining family to the woods
to be murdered. The Misfit has his own internal logic leading him to believe he is killing because that
is what makes him happy, not because he is blood thirsty. In fact, he is

Light Waves
Light waves over the electromagnetic reach carry on in equivalent ways. Exactly when a light wave
encounters a thing, they are either transmitted, reflected, devoured, refracted, stimulated, diffracted, or
scattered depending upon the structure of the article and the wavelength of the light.
Particular instruments on load up NASA transport and planes assemble data on how electromagnetic
waves act when they speak with matter. These data can reveal the physical and substance structure of
matter.
Reflection is when scene light (drawing nearer light) hits an article and ricochets off. To a great degree
smooth surfaces, for instance, mirrors mirror all event light.
The shade of an article is truly the wavelengths of the light reflected while each and every other
wavelength are held. Shading, for this circumstance, suggests the assorted wavelengths of light in the
unmistakable light range saw by our eyes. The physical and substance structure of matter makes sense

Refraction is when light waves modify course as they run beginning with one medium then onto the

Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD)
Description
Duchenne muscular Dystrophy (DMD) is the most common out of nine types of muscular dystrophy.
This genetic disorder causes progressive muscular weakness, and deterioration due to the lack of a
protein called Dystrophin. This protein keeps the muscles in tack, so when it s missing, the muscles
slowly break down. (MDA, 2015)
Epidemiology
Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is the most common muscular dystrophy disorder. In the United States
DMD affects 1 in 3,500 males. 2/3 of those cases are passed down for the mothers and 1/3 are random
mutations. Internationally the statistics are similar. (Medscape, 2015)
Modes of Inheritance

We have many drugs, therapy techniques, and procedures to help slow the progression or help with the
pain associated with DMD. There are many varying degrees of severity with DMD and because of this
treatment plans vary greatly with the patient s specific needs. Many are given medical interventions to
help with mobility. Many use wheelchairs or braces to help them maintain freedom and independance.
Drugs like Prednisone, Deflazacort,Cyclosporine and Oxandrolone are used to prolong the ability to
walk without aids as much as 5 years. Prednisone is a Corticosteroid that is the most common steriod
used to help symptoms of DMD. There is controversy when using this steriod because of the
numerous side effects like weight gain, fragile bones, high blood pressure, and behavioral changes.
Deflazacort is a synthetic form of Prednisone that has been found to have less side effects. This drug is
used in Europe. Cyclosporine is a medication that is very controversial because it s possible it causes
myopathy. Oxandrolone is still being researched but it is believed to have similar results as Prednisone
with fewer side effects.(National Human Genome Research Institute, 2013) People with DMD may
need other medications for secondary issues like asthma, or heart complications. Surgeries are also an
option to help correct spinal curvature or fix issues with the heart. Therapies are the most common
among all varying degrees of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Range of Motion exercises will help
keep flexibility in the affected joints. These exercises will also help to prevent muscle shortening. Low
impact exercises like swimming are highly to maintain mobility., flexibility in joints, and strength.

The Political Positions Of The Democratic And Republican...
This comparison will be examining the differences between the policies and political positions of the
Democratic and Republican parties on the major issues that or government is having such as the
healthcare, the role of government, gun control, entitlements, immigration, taxes, abortion and gay
rights and many other issues that or country is going throw. These two parties are the most powerful in
America s political landscape but differ greatly in their philosophies and ideals. In which Democrat
and Republican platform are much different and similar, there is also much change in developing of
each over the years.
The Democratic Party origin from the anti federalist faction around the time of America s
independence from British rule. These factions was organized into the Democratic Republican Party
by Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and other influential people of the federalist in the 1792. Where
the Republican Party is a much newer then the Democratic Party. It was founded 1854 by anti slavery
expansion activists and modernizers, the Republican Party rose to prominence with the election of
Abraham Lincoln he was the first republican president. The more tradition approach is to see
republican as historically conservative meaning they resist change and want to conserve what they see
good about American while Democrats are progressive. Meaning they want to see progress.
The democratic and republican party have different view in the platform in which it developed. The

The City Of Lancaster s General Plan
Introduction: I have chosen the City of Lancaster s General Plan entitled, Soaring into the Future .
Entitled so to pay homage to the City s desire to grow and change, as well as a nod to its economic
support from Edwards Air Force Base. The City of Lancaster is a city in the Northern Los Angeles
County, in the western Mojave Desert. The City is separated from other communities because it is
located in the valley between the Tehachapi Mountains to the North and the San Gabriel Mountains to
the South. The area has a warm semi arid steppe climate which is less hot but rainier than areas with a
typical arid climate. This particular plan when into effect July 14, 2009 and is expected to last until the
year 2030. Ultimately I will argue that due to the desire to maintain the City of Lancaster as a rural
escape for commuters and inability to provide jobs the implementation of these programs can become
contradictory.
History of the City: The first General Plan for the City of Lancaster was adopted in 1980. At that time,
the area in question occupied a space of approximately 37 square miles, with a population of 47, 882
people. Eight years later, the area had increased to 83 square miles, with a population of
approximately 100,000 residents. This significant increase in size and population prompted the City
Council to adopt a new General Plan in March of 1992. However, between 1988 and the adoption of
the new plan in 1992, the City incorporated an additional 12 square miles,

Pope Sixtus 2 Research Paper
Pope Sixtus II, who took over after St. Stephen in 257, is best known for partaking in one of the most
famous pieces of art in Western history, known as Sistine Madonna. Sixtus was having trouble with
some African and Asian churches regarding Baptism. He received letters from St. Dionysus of
Alexandria, which advised him to remain easygoing and try to disregard the other practices that were
taking place. After adhering to his advice, he was referred to as a good and peaceable priest. In 257,
afraid of many big empires such as the Persians, Valerian allotted his first decree to the Christians. He
attempted to seize rich Christian lands and distribute them to balance out the empire. Many of the
clergy members were dedicated, and as a result

How Did Australia Contribute To The Battle Of Kokoda
Australians have contributed in defense of the country and for allied countries in World War 2,
displaying the significance of the fall of Singapore and Kokoda. The fall of Kokoda and Singapore
were all related to a series of attacks from the Japanese and were counteracted by various campaigns
Australia has formed. The intentions of the Japanese from both battles were distinctive, as throughout
the second world war Japan was allied with Germany, who fought against Australia s allied forces.
From Kokoda and Singapore, the position of which alliances take part in are illustrated and the
contributions to the various campaigns that are proposed. Thus, the role Australia plays can be

there was an insufficient amount of soldiers and due to miscalculations, armies were spread thinly

  • 2. Essay on Family Relationships in Greek Mythology Greek Mythology originated around 775 B.C.E. It all started with Homer s Iliad and continued on with Hesiod s Theogany. These were the first two myths to be recorded in Greek Mythology. Both of these myths reveal to us about their understanding of the universe, and about their culture. Not only do they talk about their various gods, and heroes, but they also talk about how they viewed the universe in general (Rosenberg 79). Greek Mythology evolved from two early civilizations, the Mycenaean s and the Minoans. It was the combining of these different Greek cities and Kingdoms during 10th century B.C. that created Greek Mythology. Its Geographic isolation gave it a place for mythologies to evolve (Gale Virtual Reference Library: Greek ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, Uranus was afraid that Cronus might overpower him and one day obtain all his power. Knowing this Uranus purposely tried to kill Cronus in multiply occasions, but Gaea would always protect him. One day Gaea and Cronus made a plan to have Cronus challenge Uranus and take over his power. So it happened, Cronnus challenged his father and was victorious during their battle and Uranus was left to rot (Bernard 1) Now Cronus had become king of gods by killing his father Uranus (Bernard 3). In both Greek and Roman Mythology, the relationship between parents and children are distorted, strained, and bizarrely transformed, because of their greediness for power and obsessiveness to be better than the other. To begin with, the relationship between parents and their children are distorted, because of their greediness and obsessiveness to be better than the other. In the story of Medea, Medea poisoned her own children, because she wanted to see her husband suffer the way she suffered after he left her. She decided they best way to get revenge is by poisoning her children, this way both their children and Jason s new wife will die of poisoning and Jason will be left all alone in the world with no one to love him (Rosenberg 204). This clearly shows that the relationship between parents and children is distorted, because Medea was willing to poison her own children to get revenge on her husband. Someone who is even willing to do that is twisted and evil in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Depression and Antidepressants Essay Depression and Antidepressants Specifically the serotonergic hypothesis and the action of Prozac The cause of Clinical depression has long been a mystery to physicians and researchers. Many different theories have been proposed, but no conclusive evidence has been put forth. However, most of what we know about depression stems from the results of certain drugs which have been successful in treating the clinically depressed. These anti depressants have led to the assumption that depression is most likely due to a chemical imbalance (of neurotransmitters) which somehow leads to the symptoms of depression. To try and write a paper on all the theories of depression would be endless, as would be a study on all the different types of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The pertinent findings will be explained, and their implications on future anti depressants will be addressed. Many clinical studies have been used to suggest a role for serotonin in the propensity for depression or suicidal tendencies. Most of these studies measured the level of serotonin in the CSF in certain individuals. Results established a link between reduced serotonin neurotransmission and aggression, impulsivity, depression, and suicidal tendencies. Other data, using markers in presynaptic and postsynaptic serotonergic neurons have shown that reduction in serotonin neurotransmission is a biochemical risk factor for suicide (1). Other clinical studies have implicated fluoxetine s effects on serotonin neurotransmitters, based on the fact that serotonin is synthesized from the essential amino acid tryptophan. Patients taking fluoxetine who were in remission from major depression were given a special diet which was tryptophan free. This rapidly decreased plasma serotonin levels, and after a short period of time (as little as 30 minutes) many of the patients began to have signs of specific depressive symptoms. Later, the reappearance of more general depressive symptoms were observed in a majority of the patients. Thus it was shown that fluoxetine has a profound effect on the neurotransmitter serotonin, and decreased ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Characteristics Of The Communist Manifesto The Communist Manifesto is the product and realization of a series of revolutions. Marx breaks up history into a series of stages each with a recurring pattern of each stage ending with a revolution. A power group, most often the nobility or the church, restructures the social dynamics after a revolution in a way that benefits them the most. The restructuring leads to a class being exploited which is what drives each stage. This pattern started in the ancient times and continues into the modern period where the exploited class is continually fighting for better conditions but end up with facade of not being exploited. The structure of the societies in each stage is a product of the preceding stages. Since the beginning of societies, there has always been a subset of society that benefit from the exploitation of the other. Because of this social structure, revolutions occur to restructure society however the end result of each is not the intended one of the exploited. The benefitting subset gains more wealth and political influence after each revolution while the exploited are given a brief period of freedom but are immediately put back into their exploited state. The modern state becomes a power not for all but for the benefitted who become the modern bourgeoisie. Marx s view of history is influenced by G. W. F. Hegel s dialectical thinking. Dialectical thinking puts emphasis on the end product rather than the steps leading up to the product. The Communist Manifesto itself ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Lauren Bruno Professor Brennen English 1020 22 February 2012 Mary Anne Bell of Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong by Tim O Brian It is a well known fact that experiencing war changes people; there is an innocence that is forever lost. In Tim O Brian s, Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong , Mary Anne Bell is an unusual example of the innocence that is lost in war because unlike the rest of the soldiers, she is a woman. Mary Anne s transformation from innocent sweetheart to fierce warrior left readers with mixed emotions because although Mary Anne felt at peace with her transformation, she was also disconnected from reality. After joining the Green Berets on night time ambushes, Mary Anne started to look and act more like a soldier. Mary Anne s appearance started to change, no cosmetics, no fingernail filing. She stopped wearing jewelry, cut her hair short and wrapped it in a dark green bandana (99), as though those things were no longer important to her. Her bubbliest seemed to be gone and her body starts to become harder in places it was once soft, even her once bright blue eyes had transformed into a bright glowing jungle green (107). Mary Anne starts changing her ideas on her plans, still wanting to get married but not right away, wanting to live together first and just test it out and maybe not have three kids (99). At one time, those things were very important to Mary Anne, Fossie did not understand Mary Anne s transformation. She was like most of the young men who went off to war in the way that her innocence was dissipating quickly. However, unlike a lot of the others, her thirst for combat and everything Vietnam continued to increase. • 7. Where Are You Going Vs. Who Walk Away One of the most important components of a short story is the motivations and internal struggles of the characters. Short stories can t give you everything a book can as far as insane details, so the biggest part of your enjoyment and interest comes from the character interactions and their thoughts. In Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?, Joyce Carol Oates explores the character of Connie, an average, self centered teenager. Oates gives readers insight into the mind of Connie and how she feels toward the antagonist, Arnold Friend. Connie has issues with her self esteem and her relationships, but she begins to have a much bigger problem when deciding if she should go with the stranger. She knows it s wrong, but something about it appeals to her. In comparison, Ursula Le Guin s The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas follows the little boy and him being trapped for other people s happiness. The story also dives into the moral conflict that the people have with themselves about the boy being treated horrendously so they can enjoy happiness. The citizens are torn, as they feel awful for exploiting the life and health of the little boy, but at the same time are selfish and want to enjoy their happiness. There is also the

(New World Encyclopedia) The Incans were not only powerful, but also very advanced. They created arguably the most advanced agricultural civilization in the world. Machu Picchu was a prime example of how advanced the Incan people were. Like all good things, everything has to come to an end. Spanish explorer named Francisco Pizarro found Peru in 1531 which was a time in which the Incan Empire was going through a civil war and ultimately led to their Empire. The AncientGreeks discovered the very first natural magnet in the form of the lodestone, and Hippocrates, the father of medicine, noted it s healing powers (2). Unlike the United States, Japan, China, India, Austria, and Germany all are advanced in the field of magnetic therapy. (2). The United States does, though, use magnets in complex machines to help better understand the body and brain, such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), which uses magnetic fields to formulate 3 D images of the brain, and electroncephalogreaphs (EEG), which look at the electrical activity of the brain. The explanation: All cells that are alive are electrical; that is the outside of a cell has a negative charge and the inside, a positive charge. This combination of opposite charges allows the cell to function normally. When a part of the body becomes damaged, such as the body s tissue, the damaged area responds with inflammation, which is caused by a lack of blood flow. This lack of blood flow blocks the body s natural ability to provide oxygen and nutrients to the injured cells. Thus, the polarity of the cells gets out of whack. The role biomagnets play in aiding damaged tissue is based upon the belief that magnets can realign the cell s polarity, which helps the cell get back to functioning normally. They claim that an increase in the diameter of the body s blood vessels is also an affect of using a biomagnet on damaged tissue. This enlargement allows more blood, carrying rich nutrients and oxygen, to flow to the injured area and leave with tissue s toxins. (1) They also say that the magnet s energy has been described as a catalyst, which speeds up biological processes and enables the body to heal itself and ease pain. This catalyst stimulates blood circulation, allowing more oxygen to be distributed all over the body. (3) THE CLAIMS MADE ABOUT THE EFFECTIVENESS OF BIOMAGNETIC THERAPY AND ITS EVIDENCE No ... • 12. Social Media Addiction And Internet Addiction Relationship between Social Media Addiction and Internet Privacy: Informal community clients can share diverse bits of individual data with others; in any case, these subtle elements might be abused by companions. Net and Acuity s review (2005) of Facebook clients protection concerns found that 91 percent of clients uploaded their photos, 88 percent shared their date of birth, 40 percent demonstrated their telephone number, and 51 percent composed their present address. Sharing individual data, for example, this can lead to abuse of information, regardless of whether purposeful or not. For instance, a few people share profile subtle elements such as their full name, sexual orientation and telephone number with their companions (Wills Zeljkovic., 2011). On the off chance that the informal community account of one of the client s companions is hacked, the spammer or the programmer can abuse these points of interest to blackmail the client (Rosenblum 2007). The capacity to control protection alternatives is basic to expanding the clients trust in their interpersonal organization suppliers. Since Internet clients speak to a scope of various societies and ages, protection alternatives ought to be clear, basic and simple to utilize. Clients must be able to control their protection choices whenever. These protection alternatives enable clients to acknowledge or dismiss the scattering of their data to others. Business seems to be booming for them and people are always packed into the entrance. They only serve ramen, as the name would suggest, and the plaza the shop is located at is quite busy. The store itself stands out in stark contrast to the other restaurants nearby. The plaza that the shop is located in also is home to a local Jewel Osco which, by itself, already sees hundreds of shoppers daily. Lining the giant parking lot is a number of other businesses that also tend to be busy. An optometrist office, a beauty shop, a real estate office, and even a Burlington Coat factory. • 19. Grandiose Narcissism Facebook is a mirror and Twitter is a megaphone, according to a new University of Michigan (2013) study exploring how social media reflect and amplify the culture s growing levels of narcissism. Dr. Twenge of San Diego State University studied more than 16,400 students who took the Narcissistic Personality Inventory between 1982 and 2006. In 1982, only a third of the students scored above average on the test. Today that number is over 65%. Dr. Twenge warns that narcissists lack empathy, overreact to criticism, and favor themselves over others. They are incapable of cheering anyone else s success. Ultimately, they led miserable lives because they cannot form and maintain healthy relationships. (Aspen Education, 2011) Today s generation or the millenial generation has been well known for being the narcissistic generation. The term Narcissistic was coined from the story of Narcissus in Greek Mythology(Karrenbrock, 2012) Narcissus loved himself too much. The Millenial generation had dedicated a lot of contribution to this because of loving oneself too much like Narcissus. This gave way to Narcissism. There are two kinds of narcissism: the vulnerable narcissism and the grandiose narcissism. This study focused on grandiose narcissism or grandiosity. France, however, is still refractory in the field as they find themselves increasingly surrounded by border countries. While this one has the highest consumption of Europe. • 23. Analysis Of Sharon Olds The One Girl At The Boys Party While many leaders in politics, business, science, and education strive for change, there still persists a deep divide between male and female roles in the workplace and in society. This gap begins in childhood as demonstrated in Sharon Olds (b. 1942) The One Girl at the Boys Party (1984). This poem describes a young girl who attends a swimming party where she is the only female guest. It relies on science and math imagery to contrast the boys physicality with the girl s intellectual ability, and to juxtapose her physical features with the boys features. This figurative language creates a distinction to challenge the disparity between male and female roles and their separation in social life, which begins at a young age. Olds use of science and math imagery serves as an extended metaphor for the juxtaposition between the one girl at the party and the other guests, which represents the social divide between the genders. Olds references to math and science contrasts the boys physicality with the subject s intellectual ability. At the beginning of the poem, the speaker mentions that they [the boys] tower and/bristle, she stands there smooth and sleek,/her math scores unfolding in the air around her (Olds 234). This description of the party guests creates an automatic physical distinction between the girl and boys (by comparing their tower[ing] and bristl[ing] appearance from her smooth and sleek one), but also wordlessly defines her by her math scores, rather ... The collapse of Apartheid in South Africa (1991) brought only a small amount of change for the Bantu population. (The Department of Bantu Administration and Administration 1957) This injustice of apartheid towards the Bantu population is evident through the unfair distribution of land. 80% of South Africa s land was given to the white minority population of the time, despite the fact that they consisted of less than 10% of the population. The government also introduced influx control laws to limit the number of permits released to black South Africans allowing them to leave their homelands and work in cities or on white farms. The white government s forceful policies included little to no spending on significant finances, which constructed services in the Bantu Homelands. • 31. The True Behavior Of Violent Video Game Players Austin Schuster Composition Critical Thinking February 24, 2015 The True Behavior of Violent Video Game Players In October 1958, a Physicist named William Higinbotham successfully created the first interactive computer software purely for entertainment; a simple idea of two panels bouncing a dot between one another. This was later rebranded as the famous title Pong, the original that Higinbotham created was generated on an oscilloscope, which is a small computer designed to test electrical equipment. Today, video games are huge in terms of consumer acceptance, marketing, and digital file size. Video games are designed to be a fourth form of entertainment, joining books, movies, and television shows. However, the content has certainly always been changing within any given video game title; a larger, more recent genre known as first person shooters (FPS) or specific role playing games (RPGs), these types of video games are developed and rated by global software rating companies, worrying some consumers that most mature themed video games will create violent behavior in a player. This speculation of violent video games affecting a person s everyday behavior negatively is incorrect and ironically childish over a simple form of time consumption. There are many types of video games, such as classic platformers we all know like Super Mario Bros., Japanese side scrolling shoot em ups (Opa Opa), fantasy RPGs (Final Fantasy), recent addition of FPS like Destiny, and many more. ... This can be seen in British cities such as Manchester, Leeds and Newcastle. On the other hand, developing nations face more problems in coping with the surge in urban population. They can be unprepared for the sheer amount of inward migrants or lack funds to properly support and educate the new residents. Their urbanisation has happened in more recent years; and some may argue that it has occurred a lot faster than it did with their developed counterparts. This speed is most likely due to the technological age that we live in and the ease of travel that exists in many developing nations. Unlike the urbanisation that happened in Europe circa 1800, the migrants that are flocking to urban areas don t need many particular skills and the work is low paid both in and out of cities. The city offers a better prospects to migrants than the fields do, and that is the prime reason why anyone would move. There are inevitable problems that arise with a densely populated urban area. Thus, with his new invention, he was able to see the Milky Way, features of the Moon, and Jupiter s moons. While observing Jupiter s moons, he saw that the moons orbited around Jupiter, not earth. With this new information, he was able to disprove the geocentric theory because Jupiter s moons did not orbit around Earth, but rather Jupiter. Jon Ronson is able to provide strong examples of the disadvantages of cyber communication in his novel So You ve Been Publicly Shamed, while failing to note that there are also definite advantages to cyber communication, as well as positive and negative aspects to face to face communication. • 47. The City Of Lancaster s General Plan Introduction: I have chosen the City of Lancaster s General Plan entitled, Soaring into the Future . Entitled so to pay homage to the City s desire to grow and change, as well as a nod to its economic support from Edwards Air Force Base. The City of Lancaster is a city in the Northern Los Angeles County, in the western Mojave Desert. The City is separated from other communities because it is located in the valley between the Tehachapi Mountains to the North and the San Gabriel Mountains to the South. The area has a warm semi arid steppe climate which is less hot but rainier than areas with a typical arid climate. This particular plan when into effect July 14, 2009 and is expected to last until the year 2030. Ultimately I will argue that due to the desire to maintain the City of Lancaster as a rural escape for commuters and inability to provide jobs the implementation of these programs can become contradictory. History of the City: The first General Plan for the City of Lancaster was adopted in 1980. At that time, the area in question occupied a space of approximately 37 square miles, with a population of 47, 882 people. Eight years later, the area had increased to 83 square miles, with a population of approximately 100,000 residents. This significant increase in size and population prompted the City Council to adopt a new General Plan in March of 1992. However, between 1988 and the adoption of the new plan in 1992, the City incorporated an additional 12 square miles, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
