This document summarizes the key points from two chapters of a textbook on educational technology. It discusses observing a mathematics class that used a laptop as an instructional material. The observation focused on the teaching method used and how technology was incorporated.
It then discusses interviewing teachers from different generations about how teaching and learning has changed over time, focusing on methods, materials, strategies, and activities. Traditional methods relied more on books while newer approaches emphasize student-centered learning and use of various technologies.
The document outlines 21st century skills and having students assess their own skills and areas for improvement. It discusses contributing to the community through education and a stronger economy. Standards for effective technology use are presented and the document pledges

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

1. Were the instructional materials categorized under educational technologies?
How were they used effectively in the teaching and learning process?
-Yes. It is used by their materials that they help to answer the question
pertaining to what is asked. It is effectively used in teaching and learning
process between teacher and students in a way of collaborating and engaging
of ideas. It used effectively the way of exploring it’s with their own any or
without prior knowledge.
2. Describe the teaching practices employed in the class. How did it expand students’
acquisition of 21st century skills?
-So the teaching practices applied in the class are reporting wherein
students stand as the facilitator. The acquisition of the learners in 21st century skills
expand through enhancing of their ideas and skills at to be used on the materials
provided. How they are explore their selves through skills gathered at the past.
Teaching and Learning: Then and Now
This activity will be done with a partner. There will be two sets pf interview to be
done – 1) Interview you teacher/parent/relative who experienced learning on the early
generations; and 2) interview your classmate/friend/relative who belong to a younger
3. generations. Ask how was teaching and learning like during their time in terms of teaching
method, materials, strategies, assessment and activities done in class. Share them by
writing the details below.

-On Early Generation, we

Meeting the Standards
A. Fill out honestly the chart below by putting a checkmark in the appropriate column to
determine whether you practice effectively or not the technological standard. Whenever
using technology in learning.
Standards Yes Sometimes Never
Creativity and Innovation
I create, explore, develop and innovate products and
processes with the help of technology.
Communication and Collaboration
I make use of variety of technological tools and digital
media to effectively converse, interact, disseminate,
information, communication, and collaborate with my
peers to work on our school projects and other tasks.
Research and Information Fluency
I utilize digital and technological tools to search and
select data and information, organize, process,
analyze, synthesize and evaluate information.
I likewise produced the processed reports with the aid
of the digital and technological tools.
Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, and Decision

I use appropriate digital and technological tools in
6. practicing my creative and critical thinking skills to
identify problems, plan, investigate, collect, process,
analyze information in developing solutions to help in
decision making.
Digital Citizenship
I practice ethical, legal, and responsible use of
information, communication and technology in learning
and production of outputs.
Technology Operations and Concepts
I exhibit awareness and knowledge in the affective
selection and usage of technology which allow me to
learn improve and innovate.
B. Answers the questions below and make a pact in improving yourself in
meeting the standards of using technology in education.
1. Which among the standards do you practice the least? Why?
-I think there’s no one standards I least practiced because we are
capable to those standards that had, basically it is easy to learn
and we can explore ourselves into no limitation at all, but then I
believe I have my own weaknesses as to be honest it is not that
like least practices the Critical Thinking, Problem Solving and
Decision Making. It’s said that I use appropriate digital
technological tools in practicing my creative and critical thinking
skills to identify problems, plan, investigate, collect, process,
analyze information in developing solutions to help in decision
making. It’s because as we observed there’s a lot of prepared tools
that we can use, moreover we are prefer to use it than to provide
with our own way. Additionally, everything is can be downloaded,
edited and etc. so for looking that we are missed some ideas or
information’s that’s on we are only lies to what we have but as a
future educator we must be flexible as we can.
2. What intended actions will you do to meet the said standard/s?
-For me, I assuredly develop my skills first pertaining to the
technology because we are living today’s on globally competitive
world or what we called modern world. So, as prepared sooner I
7. will do more effort to establish my skills in many ways in terms of
technology uses and what can do or help to us. Basically, I can do
it through learning some’s information and applying it to myself.
On what you planned action for developing your skills, work
on it to be worth it. Therefore, we can be able to meet now the
said standards.
My Diagram in a Drum
This activity will be done with a partner, illustrate through a diagram your
understanding of the different phases of Technology Integration Planning. Explained why
you have designed your diagram that way.
Teaching 21st-Century Skills
Today’s technology provides the ability for students with diverse learning styles to
engage with ideas in ways not previously possible. Students can be exposed to rich
visuals and audio to supplement concepts on printed pages. At the same time, students
are increasingly expected to express their understanding using images, video, and
animation in addition to plain text. This means that multimedia applications—once
reserved for a few students taking video or design classes—are increasingly a part of all
classrooms. Educators must find ways to incorporate multimedia technologies into
everyday activities, and help students explore and master new ways to communicate
what they are learning
Studentsare become capable onwhathe have today’sgeneration. Therefore, students become lie
only media, internet than to study with their own. So much for that, they prefer to download an
ideas where not from them so it’s become unfair especially to the contributors.
Students are ready for this shift to multimedia—even enthusiastic. "Students are more
comfortable experimenting with technology and visual images because these things are
often a regular part of their lives outside of school. For some students, especially those
with learning disabilities, digital media provides a means to engage with and express
ideas. For many students, text can present real hurdles to learning.
8. My Stairways to successful Technology Integration
This activity will be done by pair. As future teacher, think of a topic related I your
