In the introduction of the book Johnson begins by giving a narrative about the role that slime mold
took in discovering emergent behavior. Biologist in time have struggled to answer questions as to
how these organisms work together. The main concern about these emerging organisms was
whether or not there was a controlling member who directed all other members in each of the
communities. More than likely, the possible solution for any of these communities to show some
sense of order would be if there were a controlling unit or what Johnson mentions as controlling

The objective of the Naked Egg Lab is to soak the egg in a solution and determine if that solution is
isotonic, hypertonic, or hypotonic in relation to the egg. A solution is a mixture of two or more
substances in which the molecules of the substances are evenly distributed (Miller/Levine 2000).
The substances in a solution are solutes, the substance that is dissolved (Miller/Levine 2000), and
solvents, the substance in which the solute dissolves (Miller/Levine 2000). In this case, the egg will
be put in a salt water solution, where salt is the solute and water is the solvent. This lab is looking
for three different types of solutions; isotonic, hypertonic, and hypotonic. An isotonic solution is
when the concentration of two solutions is the same (Miller/Levine 2000). When a solution has a
higher concentration of solutes than the solution on the other side of the membrane, it is

Chapter III International bodies
The world witnessed the rise in Economy of several countries. As a result of which people became
and rich and economically prosper. The International Organizations like the United Nations and its
subordinate bodies exercised greater control over the World. The International bodies are
responsible for the maintenance of World peace and to address several other issues which are
affecting the countries. The brief description of the International bodies is as under;
The United Nations (UN) United Nations which was established soon after the Second World War
in the year 1945 vested with the primary mandate of peace keeping. The structure of the United
Nations consists of five organs like the General Assembly, Security Council, Economic and Social
Council, The Secretariat, and the International Court of Justice. General Assembly of the United
Nations which is composed of the members is the key policy maker and representative organ of the
United Nations.
The General Assembly The General Assembly which meets once in a year discusses important
questions relating to the peace and Security, regarding the admissions relating to the new members
among other things. The Security Council which is responsible for the decision making has
impacted the Globalization as there were several decisions which were taken by the General
Assembly has impacted the world trade.
The Secretariat The Secretariat headed by the Secretary General is assisted by the

In order to determine the advantages of TMF in the competitive environment, Michael Porter s
value chain is used. Porter states that this competitive advantage can be obtained by lowering the
production costs and add value to the products or services. The chain is divided into primary and
support activities. The primary activities add value directly to the organisation, where the support
activities can add value indirectly to the company (Mind Tools, n.d.).

To determine what organisational culture is present in the company, every member of the

Huib van Balen is leading the organisation in a personal way. As a CEO, he is operating towards
the person organisation culture, as he launches friday afternoon drink and lunch sessions, to receive

culture can be measured.

The NBA makes a profit in many ways, for example the NBA makes millions of dollars off of
sponsorships, television contracts and selling merchandise. The National Basketball Association
recently signed a new TV agreement with TNT and ESPN to approximately make $2.6 billion per
season. Even with a total of 400 or so odd active players making an average of close to $5 million
annually, national TV contracts generate enough revenue to cover salaries and then some.
This graph depicts league revenue of the National Basketball Association from the 2001/02 season
to the 2014/15 season (Statistica, 2016). As seen the chart above clearly indicates the NBA makes
a profit and has been gradually increasing throughout the years, except for the season of 2011/12
but that s because the season was shorted due to the lockout that had taken place.
The NBA has many different sponsors. Sponsorship spending On the NBA Totals $739 Million
in 2014 2015 Season up 8.9 percent from the previous year, according to IEG research. A list of
the NBA sponsors are Anheuser Busch, Gatorade, Coca cola, Adidas, Miller Coors, Kia Spalding,
Geico and etc. Anheuser Busch is the most active sponsor of the NBA. In time insurance overtook
autos to become the most active category sponsoring the NBA. Insurance companies are five times
more likely to sponsor professional basketball than the average of all sponsors, according to the
research. Auto and beer are the second and third most active categories.
