This document outlines six key principles of design: balance, proportions, rhythm, contrast, emphasis, and unity. It provides definitions for each principle. Balance refers to visual equilibrium and can be achieved symmetrically or asymmetrically. Proportions concern the relative size and scale of design elements. Rhythm allows designs to develop internal consistency through repetition. Contrast involves deliberate placement of elements to create opposition. Emphasis differentiates between dominant and subordinate elements. Unity creates a sense of oneness among all elements of a design.
