Essay on Increasing Airline Security
Increasing Airline Security
Over the past five months, airline and airport security has been in the news almost daily. The events on
and since September 11 have completely changed the viewpoints of many Americans, as well as the
world, concerning airline security. Between the 18 suicide hijackers to Richard the shoe bomber Reid
and the many other terrorists that lurk in the world, flying is definitely not as safe as it once was. I
strongly believe that security in airports should be much more strict than it is now, even if it infringes
on the people s right to privacy. The last part of that statement is the point of clash for many people
because they strongly believe in privacy rights.
Before I get to why there should be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These men did not have any other luggage with them though. They used the box cutters to take over
the planes and eventually crash the planes into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, the
Pentagon and a Pennsylvania field.
A few months later, Richard Reid boarded a plane in Paris, France, headed for America with
explosives in his shoes. None of the security precautions discovered the explosives. Only passengers
who saw Reid trying to ignite the explosives stopped the destruction of the plane. Reid attempted to
blow up this plane only one day after he was detained and extensively questioned while trying to
board another plane to America.
Since September 11th, many changes have been made to the security in airports, but I believe that they
are not enough to keep us safe. Currently, airport security includes armed National Guard troops
watching over lobbies and terminals, more checked luggage requirements, and more metal and x ray
detectors. Right after the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, every airport in
America was shut down for several days and only opened with National Guard soldiers watching for
suspicious behavior. But, after only a month of the extra security guards, the majority of the airports
were without the Guard troops.
Another precaution that airlines are currently taking includes several new checked luggage
requirements. In November, Congress passed a law that requires airlines to screen all bags in four

Banning Of Pit Bulldogs Essay
One of the most popular dogs owned by dog owners is the pit bulldog. They are said to have a friendly
temperament and is remarked for being attached to their owners. Pit bull dogs are good pets, but they
can cause severe problems if they are not trained correctly. Even with their friendly attitude towards
human, they are aggressive and defensive towards their territory. This tends to threaten the society
when considering how to control the pit bulls of mauling incidents. Pit bulldogs and other attack dogs
should be banned to keep people safe from dog mauls in populated areas. Pit bull dogs are known as
fighting dogs. Because of their aggressiveness and strength, they were used in dog fighting, which was
a popular sport in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These bulldogs were described as friendly and kind by his neighbors, who undoubtedly were shocked
by the bestial actions of the dogs. Many people are outraged by this horrific behavior of the dogs that
unknowingly were a family dog to the boy. Some issues of this devastation had arisen whether
banning these attack dogs would be a good solution (Bulwa).
Over the past few years, pit bulldogs have been a great concern because of the dog mauling incidents.
In the San Francisco Chronicle, it revealed that Denver had passed laws to control certain breeds in
dogs to ensure the safety for the people. Canada as well took action. They decided to ban the pit
bulldogs in their province in August 2005. Hopefully, by banning the pit bulldogs, there will be less
dog mauling devastations in the neighborhood where many people live.
Dog mauling is quite common, but it is rarely seen that people are mauled to death by dogs. In the
statistics shown by CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), of the 199 dog attack fatalities
in the USA between 1979 and 1996, dogs identified as pit bulls were responsible for 60 attacks just
under a third. Compared to the second most dangerous group were Rottweilers, which were only
responsible for 29 attacks. This had raised issues, causing a turbulent disturbance in the public. Some
jurisdictions were placed and questions about owning a pit bulldog were

Mooncakes In Asian American Culture
After generations, mooncakes came to hold a slightly different meaning to the Chinese in America, but
nevertheless, the traditional pastries are valued as a piece of their Chinese culture as they continued to
clash with those in America. Asian American have slowly lightened their adherence to the traditional
versions as their choice of mooncakes and for many, having mooncakes just became a formality
during the Mid Autumn Festival. Even though mooncakes do not hold the same values as those in
China, mooncakes are still nonetheless deemed important especially when they came under attack by
American culture in 2007. Asian Americans in California came into conflict with the state s health
officials when they wanted to impose regulatory ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The mooncake industry has a surprising back story regarding its packaging as it makes billions of
dollars each year. In a research done by Sohu Business, it was found that while only 20% of the costs
go towards making the actual mooncakes, China spends about $122 billion dollars on the production
of mooncakes as a whole annually, with the value of packaging materials reaching upwards of $45
billion dollars in 2009. The large amount of money spent by the Chinese reflects the continued
importance of the pastries in more recent years. Also, by 2009, China s packaging material waste
accounted for a third of the country s solid waste (Sohu Business). Even though the amount of waste
created from the packaging of mooncakes is an incredibly large amount, it is a result of mooncake

The Military Installation Of America s 21st Century Wars
This is not what war is supposed to look like. That is my first thought upon arriving at MacDill Air
Force Base, Florida, on March 11, 2010. We stop at a small red roofed gatehouse with a single beamed
electric post. The quiet entrance of this base, with its red leafed palms, towering oaks, and rows of
citrus trees, set on a 6,000 acre peninsula, has the appearance of an idyllic beach resort. The wooden
gatehouse is neither substantial nor imposing. It does not hint of Fortress America nor would it pass
the minimum post 9/11 standards of perimeter security. Its diminutive scale is far out of proportion to
the consequential institutions on the other side. For me, the disparity is jarring. Small dark lettering at

Alcohol Summary
* Executive Summary
In 2001 spirit makers ended a long standing volunteer policy against aggressive alcohol advertising
(Steiner and Steiner, 2009). Since that time, there has been an unprecedented shift toward increased
alcoholic advertisements in an effort to increase market share and raise profits. This shift brings into
light the challenge alcoholic companies face in balancing their fiduciary duties to their shareholders
and their corporate and social responsibility to society.
This report focuses on the issues surrounding Anheuser Busch s Spykes beverage and the corporate
and social issues similarly faced by other alcoholic beverage companies.

There is growing public pressure for alcoholic beverage companies to ... Show more content on

From society s perspective, any activities conducted by the alcohol beverage companies to remove
alcohol related problems like violence, decreased morality and intoxication related problems like
drinking driving are seldom advertised and marketed. In this sense, society is only seeing
advertisements related to increased consumption leading to increased profits. Accordingly alcohol
industries fail to fulfill their ethical duty to be informative and truthful in their advertising efforts.
At present, alcohol beverage companies create a brand image by sponsoring sports and cultural
activities that attract drinkers, first starting as a social drinker and then becoming regular drinkers
(Munro amp; De Wever, 2008). The current alcohol advertising regulatory system in Australia should
aim to minimize exposure and appeal to children (VAADA, 2010).
In Australia, advertising activities are regulated by legislation and a code of practice such as the
Advertiser Code of Ethics and Alcoholic Beverages Advertising Code (ABAC). This code is based on
a voluntary system of self regulation which is funded and administered by the alcohol beverage
companies. Currently there are no penalties for non compliance (Jones, Hall amp; Munro 2008).
Additionally, the organisation is partly funded by alcoholic beverage companies. This presents a
conflict of interest as in most instances, their fiduciary duties are act in the best interests of

They have been able to capitalize on emerging markets that may not have previously been viable. This
includes Thailand, which is now seen as one of the most beauty conscious countries in the world ( P G
Upbeat , 2010). With this new market, P G has been able to launch their hair care line in parts of the
world that previously were not industrialized and did not have a demand for these types of products.
As more countries especially in Asia, Africa, and Latin America begin to industrialize, P G can
continue to expand their geographic segments. Not only have they penetrated the countries
themselves, but they have penetrated different segments in the consumer market. With 300 brands in 3
very distinct divisions, P G has been able to diversify and capture a larger market share. As for
business segments, the company has 3 divisions which are Beauty and Grooming, Health and
Wellness, and Household Care Products. All of these divisions are operated by a centralized business
structure that works to make the business the most efficient it can be ( Core Strengths, 2011). In
addition to this centralization of the product divisions, the company also has a Market Development
Organization (MDO) to tailor marketing strategies in each geographic area. This ability to target a
specific market has allowed P G to continue to gain the market share in emerging markets.

The Nuances Of The Ukrainian Conflict
The nuances of the Ukrainian conflict
In the winter of 2013, thousands of activists braved the freezing cold to protest on the central Maidan
Independence Square in Kiev. Their grievance was then President Viktor Yanukovych s decision to
align his country closer to Russia by rejecting a trade agreement with the European Union which
many had been hoping for. The movement, known as Euromaidan, demanded the removal of
Yanukovych from power and the establishment of closer ties to the EU. However, Yanukovych stood
firm and the protestors came under fire, probably by members of the security services, and in the
ensuring street battles over 100 people, mainly activists (but also some police), were killed.
Yanukovych fled the country, only to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The rebels called the territory under their control Novorossiya, or New Russia . As the conflict grew
more intense and particularly after the downing of Malaysian airliner MH17, the United States, Britain
and many countries in the EU responded with economic sanctions and increasingly tough rhetoric,
with Prince Charles and others likening the actions of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Adolf
Hitler. The war has, to date, claimed over 6,000 lives and displaced many more. Fortunately, the bulk
of the fighting seems to be over and the situation seems to have relaxed somewhat, a ceasefire signed
in February 2015 in the Belarusian capital of Minsk appearing to hold, albeit with violations almost
daily.
The common narrative, at least the one put forward by Ukraine and much of the West, is one of
Russian aggression. Russia, afraid of losing its influence over its former colonies and refusing the
accept the modernising, pro Western ambitions of the Ukrainian people, artificially engineered a
rebellion through propaganda and blatant lies, labelling the protestors in Kiev as fascists and Neo
Nazis, then moved in its own troops under the guise of disgruntled locals and off duty army volunteers
to try and disrupt Ukraine s progress. But this narrative, while correct from a certain point of

Peter Pan Neverland Analysis
Sassy fairies, infinite childhood, and ticking crocodiles. For many, Peter Pan s Neverland may be
associated with innocuous connotations, an innocent and whimsical world wherein the harsh and
offensive realities of society are unable to penetrate. However, upon closer examination of J.M. Barrie
s Peter and Wendy (1911), the notion of innocent childhood fantasy is revealed as a façade, a
confirmation that even Neverland and all of its whimsy is not safe from the ideologies which influence
racial oppression and demeaning stereotypes. In analyzing the existence of the racial hierarchy within
this fantasy world, it is necessary to perform a close reading of passages concerning the Piccaninny
Indian tribe which expose the degrading representations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In considering the overarching interpretation regarding depictions of race throughout the novella, this
specific excerpt is salient in both its characterization of the tribe and the racial commentary that can be
derived as a result. Despite the previous passage s depiction of the Piccaninny through diction that
signifies subordination, they are comparatively described here in a violent and masculine manner that
suggests a form of power. In this then, one must revisit the previously posed inquiry: is the narrator
reproducing the degrading racial hierarchy that labels the other as inferior, or are they persuading the
reader to question it? Phraseology such as diabolical cunning to describe their plans not only
contradicts the notion that they are a rudimentary people, it also encourages a questioning of the
connotations of savagery as it is used throughout the work (174). However, this is not to argue that the
passage is any less problematic in its presentation. While certain aspects of the word choice may
indicate power, the redskins are still described in a manner that strips them of their humanity. The use
of phlegmatic as an adjective to portray the manner in which they should deal pale death suggests that
they are inhumane and emotionless creatures (174). Furthermore, the narrator states that they dream of

Somali The Somali Banking System
The Somali Banking System
Anna Koontz
Dr. Darcy Hartman
AEDE 4536
21 November 2015
A: Introduction and Problem Description Somalia is a war torn nation in East Africa that has been
systematically affected by political, economic, and social issues for decades. These issues have
profoundly impacted the way that the nation functions as a whole. One of the most significant
economic issues that plagues Somalia today is its lack of an effective central bank, and the general
scarcity of banks throughout the country. The Central Bank of Somalia does exist, but it is essentially
inoperative, as it has no substantial authority and has not officially printed a single bank note since the
1990s1. Currently, the Central Bank of Somalia does not dictate monetary policy whatsoever, and only
conducts surveys as it attempts to reconstruct itself 2. Because of this, counterfeit currency makes up a
sizable proportion of the money in circulation, and most Somalis rely on remittances transferred from
family members abroad to survive. In fact, it is estimated that around 45% of Somalia s economy is
made up of these remittances that come from places like Kenya, Ethiopia, and the United States,
where large populations of Somali refugees and immigrants currently live3.
Not surprisingly, the lack of a banking system has led to currency substitution that appears in many
forms. Some use foreign currency or the plentiful counterfeit bills, while others use money issued by

The Dialectical Model Of Identity Formation
In Don s lecture, he discusses the dialectical model of Identity formation, which includes three
components or circles that interact. The subjective reality, the objective reality and Indigenous
objective reality. Subjective reality is the individual s identity that is comprised of someone s thoughts
and feelings. Objective reality is outside of the self, encompassing the culture in mainstream society,
such as institutions, history, capitalism and rules. The indigenous objective reality is influenced by
both mainstream society and Aboriginal culture. People s feelings and behaviours are likely to mimic
those of the urban people around them.
There are two process that occur, externalization and internalization. Externalization is the process of
taking a thought and projecting it to the objective reality. For example, an individual will externalize
their Indigenous culture to school by bringing traditions from home like dances and teaching them to
students. Externalizing can also happen from mainstream society to the Indigenous culture by bringing
what is learned at school to back to the family. Internalization is how the individual s subjective reality
is affected by the surrounding institutions through rules, norms, etc. Therefore, they internalize the
Indigenous culture through family traditions, and Internalize mainstream society through the media,
school rules, etc.
Early Europeans thought that it was impossible for Indigenous peoples to participate in the modern

Importance Of System Of Internal Control
1. What is a system of internal control and what objectives is it designed to fulfil? In your view, how
relevant is an organization s culture and value system in achieving the objectives of a system of
internal controls? The system of internal control is an essential process for both public and private
sectors. It is a system which must be implemented to ensure due diligence is exercised during the
transactions of the corporate business within all applicable laws and regulations. Policies and
procedure must be developed and implemented to prevent fraud, abuse, misappropriation of funds and
to protect the company s assets. Without such parameters, it would be difficult to accurately track the
expenditures and revenues and for accountability of the business and its employees. The County has a
code of conduct in place that each employee must read and sign upon commencement of employment.
There are also policies as it relates to use of equipment, credit cards, cash handling procedures,
accepting gifts and donations for both Staff and Council. It is important to ensure the budget document
is reviewed and up to date regularly. All Departments complete month end reports, within 3 days of
the completion of said month. Further, through variance reporting and fiscal forecast updating our
Department is able to monitor regularly the status of our respective budgets. Each Department reports
to the Finance Department and in turn a report is provided to Council for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd quarters and
over the course of the 4th quarter, sometimes monthly reports are provided. There have been fiscal
years where Departments have been advised that expenditures are limited to necessities only such as
cell phones, office supplies, wages where a significant deficit is being projected. This has alleviated
some financial pressures from other divisions and provided a net zero budget or close to it for the
difficult year. In an attempt to prevent unwise or unapproved expenditures, during budget preparation,
each Department must provide line by line descriptions of each account. If the item is not listed, it
cannot be purchased. For example, if cameras were not specifically listed in the equipment line, then a
report would

The Stereotype Of A Young Girl
1. As a young girl, I have always associated most white people with the quality of being rude or racist.
For example, not holding doors as I walked behind them or ignoring my friendly smiles and/or
comments. I vividly remember several occasions where I would be walking two steps being a
Caucasian person and they would fail to hold the door open allowing it to slam in my face. There is
also an uneasy stare that is given while shopping, such as following African Americans around the
store to watch them to make sure they are not stealing. The belief that white people are rude is not
limited to black people, but other minorities as well because their cultural beliefs and practices are
often disrespected.
2. The stereotype emerged from personal experiences throughout my daily life. My mother would also
agree that most individuals who are white are rude to minorities because of their sense of entitlement.
She would often have to console me because at a young age, I would acknowledge the difference in
treatment I received. In reference to other cultures, their cultural beliefs are often disregarded and are
not given the time to understand. When someone is not fluent in English, they are often disregarded
instead of taking the time is comprehend their statement. Blacks are automatically characterized as
thieves or hoodlums, Muslims are terrorist and Mexicans are all labor workers, which are incorrect
statements and over generalized.
3. As a result, thinking that most Caucasians

The Age Of Exploration And Its Effects On Economic And...
Summative
As European economy grew, and became more reliant on a cash system, replacing the land based
system of feudalism. The power shift is prominent, shifting from the lords and nobles to the merchants
of the middle class. The Age of Exploration has provided a framework for economic life around the
world for several centuries while also shaping politics, social relations, cultures, and natural
environments, changing the very nature of society. Of course the most important aspect of this
modernistic convention would most certainly be the newfound relation between, capitalism and
globalization and their effects on economic and political power. However some countries succeeded in
their endeavour of international trade, while others did not. Europeans constructed and maintained
their trade and territorial empires, whether through conquest, centralizing authority, religious
conversion, commercial monopolies, or through conflict with other Europeans. Economics seems to
be the most significant factor in the production line of human progress. There has been no event in
history that did not involve an aspect of economy. The basis of commerce in the Age of Exploration,
led to growth of international trade that would eventually lead to the Industrial revolution. This
foundation is heavily reliant on European powers enforcing economic trade around merchant
capitalism and the existing monarchy monopolism ideologies.Trade within Europe would continue to

Reinvention In Japan
Reinvention means to be completely undone and remade in a different way. Japan has been reinvented
two times, for two different reasons. The cause for the first reinvention, also known as the Meiji
restoration, was foreign influence let into the country by the shoguns. As a result, the shoguns lost
credit, and the Meiji leaders came to power. They enforced a lot of new rules for government,
education, society, military, and economy. One of the most influential was the newly constructed
government. The Meiji leaders sent out scholars to observe western ways. These scholars looked at
legislature, America s voting system, policies about taxation and agriculture, and religious freedom.

`` Blown Away `` By Josh Kear And Chris Tompkins Use...
Fathers are viewed as the head of the household and the glue that holds the family together. For this
reason, as young girls grow up, they look to their fathers for stability and comfort. In the song, the
father was the complete opposite of everything good. He failed the young girl by tearing her down and
making her life miserable. In Blown Away , the authors Josh Kear and Chris Tompkins use symbolism
and imagery to show the difficulties the girl face as a child and how she finds hope for a better future.
One device the authors use to portray hope is symbolism. The first way the song exhibits symbolism is
through the tornado and the destruction is causes. Carrie Underwood sings, The weather man called
for a twister / she pray it blow down (lines 5 6). These lines show that she wants the tornado to come
down towards her. It represents the destruction her father has brought her life, but also the hope she
has that it will be good for her future. She realizes that while the tornado might destroy everything she
owns and knows about her childhood, it will also set her free from her father and the darkness that is
bringing her down. Her life is like the storm. Before a storm comes it is dark and dreary outside, much
like her life now. After a storm passes the skies clear and a rainbow appears, this is what her life will
be like after the tornado passes. The storm takes away all the bad in her life and leaves her with an
open path to a brighter future. The second way the authors

Treatment For Drugs Research Paper
Brandon Miller
Mrs.Scruggs
English 3, 1st Period

Miller, 1 This research paper is about the punishment vs. treatment for drugs. After doing research, it
is seen that the possible punishment is accorded to the amount of offenses, the type of drug, a number
of drugs, and the intentions with it. Different therapies and rehabilitation centers offer treatment
dealing with the drug that was used. While criminal activity regarding drug use should punish and
dealt with, however, more people will benefit in the long term if criminal drug abusers receive
treatment rather than just punishment. There are many possible treatments to try and help the person
cope with getting away from drugs.
The punishment of drugs may be considered a little harsh. For instance, possession of personal use of
marijuana could result in a class 3 misdemeanor charge and up to a $200 fine if it s 0.5 of an ounce.

The laws in this nation vary so much that it has become an unfair system of justice as all of the laws
aren t equivalent to each and every state. Imprisonment is a fair consequence depending on the amount
of time given but providing punishment only cannot help and teach someone to overcome their drug
dependency. A combination is best in this situation because if the drugs being used are against the law
then prison is a fair consequence and the treatment offers the person a new, better and more positive

Homelessness In The United States Research Paper
Homelessness in the United States
The topic I have decided to focus Genius Hour on is how to solve the problem of homelessness in the
United States. More than 3.5 million people experience homelessness each year. And in 2013, there
was a high of 2.5 million homeless children. But why should people care? People should care because
if they ever went into foreclosure, they could be secure in knowing that they would still have a place
to stay in and would not be forced to go on the streets. A solution to eliminating homelessness would
be incorporating some socialism factors of government into our federal government. I consider this a
sensible solution because our federal government has a double security system that prevents our

The Importance Of Insect Population In Germany
Current Event: Week Eight According to an Off The Grid news site, the insect population in Germany
has decreased significantly in the last few decades. Nearly seventy five percent of the insects in the
nature reserves have been wiped out, leaving only twenty five percent left. Due to this significant
decrease, it is expected for the food web to be widely affected since many other animals rely on these
insects as a source of food. One of the insects that are dying out is the honeybee, which can affect
humans since these bees are needed to pollinate crops. Honeybees are a major pollinator of our food
crops such as almonds, apples, cantaloupes, cranberries, cherries, sunflowers, cucumbers, watermelon
and much more. They contribute to our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Ramstad, Alegra was put into detention because of a threat made to another student,
which was a complete misunderstanding. Alegra was simply sticking up for herself after being bullied
by the same student for the past year (9 News). As a result of the incident, the parents decided to hire
an attorney named Igor Raykin and may file a lawsuit against the school for the traumatization of their
daughter. Soon after the Douglas County School District General Counsel provided a statement to the
community mentioning that the safety and well being of the students are a top priority. They also
discussed how the detention room allows freedom for students to work on their homework and leave
the room when needed. However, this freedom was not demonstrated when Ramstad arrived at the
school to see her daughter in one of the rooms. The incident sparks controversy of the school s
treatment of children and brings up the question of how many other children were put into this cell
and if these children s parents were aware of this occurrence. If so, a lawsuit should be filed against
the school against those parents as well. It is sad to see the actions this elementary school decided to
take in order to fix these children s behavioral issues or in this case a misunderstood situation.
Hopefully, this news story will help the school realize their idea of detention is inhumane and
degrading.

Descriptive Essay On The Getty Museum
Driving down the 405 freeway will now be a different experience for myself. Prior to the weekend of
June 11, 2017, The Getty Museum was always a mystery. There are a several things I really enjoyed
about the museum. It was surprising to learn the Getty Center is free for everyone that attends. When
arriving we of course had to pay for parking, which was fifteen dollars for an all day parking pass.
With the parking pass, the museum allows you to leave and return once within the same day. This is
ideal for those who rather get food off the museum s property. When arriving at the museum we rode
on a six minute tram ride. The tram ride was included in the price of parking. Walking up to the
museum s entrance was an experience of its own. The architecture was entertaining. There were
several areas that grabbed the viewers attention. After speaking to a museum employee, I was able to
notice different areas with in the museum. The architect used large pooped out stones to grab the
viewers attention. These pooped out stones provide a path to view points with in the museum. For
example; one pooped out stone showed a view of the Central Garden, another lead us to a view of Los
Angeles. The views were beautiful from the guided points. The museum was broke up into different
pavilions. Each pavilion had a different theme, it was very easy to locate each pavilion and artwork
within the building. One pavilion had a Changing Exhibition. While visiting the theme of the West
Pavilion was The Lure of Italy: Artist Views. I soon realized all areas of the museum change to help
protect the art on display. Areas of the Getty Museum included several painting galleries, sculpture,
decorative art galleries, architecture, gardens and of course the changing exhibits. While walking
through the buildings it was fascinating to see all the different styles of art on display. Artists all have
their own techniques when creating their expression of what they see. Many paintings dated back to
the 1700 s and seemed to have very little cracks or signs of age within the paintings. While
experiencing the painting galleries, I was hopeful to find a painting by both Vincent van Gogh and
Claude Monet. To my surprise the museum had one piece by

America Vs Today
The America I believe in is happier than the one we are today. The present day America is full of
hatred and cruel souls. People think violence is the solution to our problems and that is obviously not
working. Americans need to pass love and happiness not bombs and bullets. Here is how America
needs to change for the better.
Though people may be facing problems in their personal life that does not give them the excuse to be
harmful to the people or life around them. One way we could eliminate one personal problem many
people face in America is to make more homeless shelters or food banquets. Maybe if more people
had a home to live in there would be a little less hatred in the world.
Murder is a huge problem in the US. Even though there is

Cotton And Sugar Ethical Consumerism
Ethical consumption is the practice of purchasing products and services produced in ways that
minimizes social and environmental damage while avoiding products and services to have a negative
impact on society and environment (Ethical Consumerism: 2007). I personally think that the use of
ethical consumption is an effective way for social change because it guarantees that producers are paid
a stable amount while being protected. Ethical consumption starts with fair trade. Some examples of
ethical consumption would be the selling of dolphin meat, fair trade of coffee, cotton and sugar.
Another component to ethical consumption is, the social, economic and environmental outcomes
(Cole and Brown 2015: 52). In order for social change, the change has to start with the core principles
of asking the question, will it benefit socially, economically and environmentally? First, the cotton
industry and cotton farmers are an example of fair trade for ethical consumption. Cotton is the world s
oldest commercial crop and one of the most fibre crops in the global textile industry. Many cotton

The Social Scientist Phrase, Presentation Of Self, And Self
In this modern day world, people may continuously confuse similarly used words, and often think they
mean the same thing. However, in reality they don t. Nonetheless, the main focus words are identity,
and self. Identity to me is similar to the social scientist phrase presentation of self , and what that
means is how a person wants to present themselves to others. Similar to actors, and singers that are
constructively criticized by their image, so they can better it to wow their fans. In contrast to self,
which is being true to who you are. As seen in When the Emperor was Divine the family struggle with
knowing their self, and identity. The family begins as middle upper class, materialistic people in
California that are nameless with a sense of family unity, and self worth. Eventually transforming to
isolated, exhausted, loss souls having to wear ID numbers on their collar (p. 24). Starting off with the
father, which is a very symbolic character since he is only spoken about in memories, and letters. Even

the mortgage, she is not pleased that John spends his time working. As stated on page 3, [Working]
was to deprive her of his companionship, to make him a little duller, older, uglier than he might
otherwise have been . His demanding efforts to make money goes unnoticed by Ann. His status as her
husband is similarly unappreciated. A change of mind enters Ann s head when Steven enters the
farmhouse. Ann begins comparing the two men, Steven as erect, tall, square shouldered (6) while John
is thicket, heavy jowled and stooped (6). Steven seduces Ann, which leads to the pair sleeping
together. By cheating on her husband, Ann s behaviour is not only disloyal, but ungracious also.
Steven is also unappreciative of his friendship with John, as betrayed him and slept with his wife.
Although John commits himself to pleasing Ann, she is not too content. Since Ann does not notice o
respect John s attempts to gladden her, he is an unappreciated character who should be treated with far
greater amount of respect and admiration from fellow characters. Throughout the short story, The
Painted Door by Sinclair Ross, John is established as an admirable character. His hardworking and
compassionate behaviour emphasizes his admirable personality. Overall, John is a diligent,

Persuasive Essay On Tariffs
I think a lot of people are tired of watching other countries ripping off the United
States, comments Trump as he implements, a 25 percent tariff on foreign steel and a 10 percent tariff
on foreign aluminum when the product comes across our borders. Trump believes that other countries
have been taking advantage of the US through the current free trade agreements. We are America the
Great ; therefore, of course, we produce steel and aluminum in the cheapest and most efficient way
possible. We will save jobs by encouraging other sectors to purchase steel and aluminum domestically.
The tariffs will only hurt the other countries, not our own people. This belief is a big joke. Yet, many

What do the people who work in the factories want? They want to have their jobs protected, like many
working people do. Trump promised to help those workers. He promised to protect their jobs. That is
why he is proposing the tariffs. Yet, the tariffs are not actually beneficial for the workers. By strongly
encouraging Americans to use domestic steel and aluminum, the prices are being raised on these
products. All the products that have these two products as inputs are also having increased prices.
Why were factories buying these goods across the sea? China produces steel and aluminum at a lower
marginal cost, allowing them to sell the goods at a lower price and still maximize profit. Therefore,
China is the most efficient producer of these products. Instead of trying to inhibit efficiency, Trump
should be promoting efficiency. He could do so by encouraging the steel and aluminum factories to
discover new ways to produce their goods with a lower marginal cost. Also, maybe American factories
could specialize in another industry if China is the lowest cost producer of steel and aluminum. But,
these proposals are not being encouraged by Trump and his

Senator Barack Obama wrote his speech A More Perfect Union in Reading the World, and he was

about in one of his sermons how the government had created HIV to get rid of all the colored people.

They have both been created to change the way we interact with our phones, and with each other. Both

many different aspects, from notifications, to music, to daily reminders. This system is composed of
many numerous blocks, no larger than the palm of your hand. They all fit together to make a cohesive

We can observe a little bit of blue on the globe that the children are holding, which represents the
ocean, but also we can observe it on the children s body, with another meaning. The dark blue is the
color of truth and moderation. The turquoise, found on the hair of the boy is the symbol of youth, and
also the color of communication. It contains the growth quality of green with the blue quality of
communication. Finally, the aqua is the color of high ideals.
Brown and green are other colors found in the art. Combined, they represent wholesomeness and
earthiness. They can signify growth and represent the simplicity, friendliness, dependability, renewal,

The Shapes and Lines
Talking about the lines, we can observe that the picture contains curves, parallel lines, and diagonal

Circles represent the eternal whole and in every culture are the form that represents the sun, the earth,

What is food? What does our food really contain? We can go days, weeks, and perhaps months and

Non Violent Protests In The Civil Rights Movement
Throughout the 1950s and the 1960s, civil rights activists started protesting for change. In the US and
Australia there were many significant protests undertaken by different groups of brave individuals all
to invoke change. Some of the most influential protests were the Montgomery Bus Boycott and the
American and Australian Freedom Rides. These protests mainly used the tactic of non violent protests
however, they also used boycotts and demonstrations. These protests brought great change to the way
that the African Americans were treated in the US and the Indigenous people in Australia, because it
forced the public to acknowledge the hardships that they had to face from segregation. The main tactic
used by civil rights activists in both Australian and the United states was non violent protests. This is
when the activists would protest with methods that would not harm anybody. This was done because
the civil rights activists did not want to sink down to their oppressor s level and also so that no legal
action could be inflicted on the African American community. The freedom rides in the United States
were perfect examples of non violent protests as the leaders of these actions would not harm anybody
in the course of change. Martin Luther King was a key aspect of the entire Civil Rights Movement
including the Freedom Rides and he believed that Nonviolence is a powerful and just weapon, which

The Federal Republic And The United States
The Federal Republic is the type of government that governs Germany. After World War II ended, the
Federal Republic government was founded. This type of government replaced Fascism which was in
power by the Third Reich from 1933 to 1945. Power is divided between states and voters which have
ultimate control of political issues. The central government has limited powers only. Germany s
government uses a constitution like the United States. The constitution protects citizens liberties and
maintains a division of powers. Holidays in Germany resemble our holidays but not all holidays are
the same. New Year s Day, Easter, Christmas and New Year s Eve are some of the holidays Germany
shares with us. There are other holidays that Germany celebrates which are Boxing Day, Day of
Germany s Unity, Whit Monday, May Day, and Ascension Day. One of Germany s most important
holidays is Day of German Unity. This holiday marks the day of the unity between Federal Republic
of Germany and Democratic Republic of Germany. There are a few traditions and celebrations that
take place in Germany. Many of us in the United States celebrate a couple of those traditions.
Oktoberfest is the biggest one we celebrate that is a German tradition. Oktoberfest attracts over six

It left a lifelong impression on Schultz (Gallo, Forbes). From his father s struggles, Schultz realized he

Schultz s childhood and young adulthood struggles before his success qualify him as a twice born
leader, which is characterized by Warren Bennis as someone who has re invented him or herself and
become a leader due to their hard work and success while overcoming many obstacles. Bennis
highlights in his book that often times it is much harder for people to become leaders when they need

Macbeth Compared To Today s Social Issues
In today s world, there are clear political and societal issues that can be compared to Macbeth, which
is hundreds of years old. Americans, for example, are challenged to this day over the same political
issues that arose during the time Macbeth was written: Macbeth rises and becomes a Tyrant, Lady
Macbeth being an influence on Macbeth s decision making, and even the Weird Sisters can all be
compared to modern day issues. Several of the issues America faces today includes fake news, family
troubles, and foreign dilemmas. Even though the play Macbeth was written hundreds of years ago, it
seems as if history will repeat itself, and throughout lifetimes people will experience the same
troubles. One of the several political issues America faces today is fake news. Any person can go on

One of these issues can be referred to Kim Jong Un, and the fact that he is a tyrant. Macbeth became a
tyrant when he took over the throne when King Duncan was murdered (Act II, Scene IV). Soon after
Macbeth took the throne, it seems as if people were scared of Macbeth and that he would be rude to
others. This is similar to how Kim Jong Un deals with his power. Kim Jong Un could be seen as a
harsher tyrant than Macbeth, and many would agree, but nonetheless, Mabet does not treat people well
just like Kim Jong Un. We see how Macbeth rashes out against his own people, for instance, Macbeth
rashed out against the doctor when he said he could not fix Lady Macbeth CITE. Mcbeth can also be
seen as hated because everyone is going against him and trying to overpower Macbeth. The ability for
tyrants to be an issue during the renaissance era along with the modern world shows people that we

not the conspirators as would seem to deem but as Jan Smuts states, A man is not defeated by his
opponents but himself.
In the Shakespearean tragedy Julius Caesar, the infamous Caesar is assassinated by those whom many
consider friends and even brother. Caesar is foretold by many the fate of his destiny. At the end, the
man who considers himself the north star in which Rome revolves around, and the cornerstone and
pillar of the edifice of the empire is brought low.
Everyone agrees Julius Caesar should have ignored the warnings of others; ... Show more content on

The night before the assassination, Calpurnia states... Fierce fiery warriors [fought] upon the clouds.
In ranks and squadrons and right form of war, which drizzled blood upon the capital. This dream and
the odd portents during the night became the second confirmation to Caesar of the events that would
take place if he proceeded to the senate. However, the voice of another darkens the voice of his wife.
And the once wise and noble Caesar is manipulated to his fall. Throughout the play Caesar is not only
deaf to those who care for him the most but the voices in which need his closest attention are
relinquished like words that drift through the air.
The third reason it is imperative for the emperor to regard the warnings is to strengthen character. The
last and final caution Caesar receives is in the streets on the way to the Senate, when he brushes aside
Artemidoro. However, this final plea is not enough to dissuade Caesar from going to the Senate. These
encounters reveal much of Caesar s character one in which lacked discernment. Faced over and over
again to evaluate and make the right decisions Caesar always makes the wrong one. Julius
miscalculates everything and pays for it at the

Analysis Of I Got You
In I Got You, Jamie Lake describes her characters in ways that make the above statement real. When
Jake meets Benjamin for the first time he describes him as hot...tall and strapping, [in] a body suit
barely contain[ing] the young man s perfectly well built body. (266) The description of Benjamin
makes two things evident, 1. Even in the gay community there is a certain amount of pressure put on
looks and 2. Even in the gay community looks are one of the most important things first looked at.
On the other hand, Jake was a view entirely different. On page 31 he was described as wiry and pale
and then on page 136 his sister described him as skin and bones, signifying his more skinny and
fragile appearance. Although Benjamin fit the bill for how men, gay men specifically, are suppose to
look. Jake, on the other hand was the complete opposite of what gay men want their partners to look
like. Jake s appearance goes against what gay men are suppose to look like specifically, some could
even say that Jake was underdeveloped. For example, in the article, A Gay man and a Straight Woman
Talk body Image, Stern, the gay man, specifically says that what gay men are looking for is Not bony
and gangly! In the book this is exactly how Jake is described. In today s society you are suppose to
take a sort of pride in how you looked and Jake wasn t described as the best candidate to showcase
that. We have been programmed to think about looks first without even getting to know a person.

Technology In Blade Runner
Technology can be broadly defined as the use of scientific knowledge for practical purposes mostly in
industry. Its application in various industries includes the information and media technology,
agriculture, education, construction and transport. Technology allows us to perform complicated tasks
in our daily lives and ensures efficiency in production. Technology has been advancing in astounding
ways in recent years especially due to progress achieved in computing and it can only grow even more
in the future. Although authors have different views on this broad topic, they are important as they
help paint a picture for society on how technology will evolve. Phillip K. Dick in his book Blade
Runner, technology is more advanced and humans have achieved abilities to create machines that
resemble men. According to (Dick, 24), Roy: Chew, if only you could see what I ve seen with your
eyes . This points us to the fact that Chew considers himself Roy s creator and that he even though he
did, he does not get to experience what Roy do. We can deduct from this quote that the author foresees
a future in which Artificial Intelligence will be highly developed and robots will be a norm and that
people will own their own robots. George Orwell gives us an insight into his view on the subject of
technology in his 1949 novel, Nineteen Eighty Four as an important tool of innovation and
development that can be manipulated to serve evil masters in facilitating a lot of evil on humanity. The

Opioid Agonist Therapy
Opiods are the group of drugs which act on the opioid receptor and cause relief from the pain. This
group consists of both prescription opioids used for moderate to severe pain relief and illicit drug like
heroin. According to CDC, from 2000 to 2015 more than half a million people died from opioid
overdose (CDC, 2017). According to National Institute on Drug Abuse, total economic burden of
prescription opioid overdose, abuse and dependence in the U.S tends to be around $78.5 billion
(Florence et al., 2016). Risk factor for opioid addiction tends to be substance abuse and high
prescribed dosage for a longer period of time. The use of opioid is seen common in both genders,
between 22 55 years, non Hispanic whites, living in poor neighborhood and in rural areas (Rudd et al.,
2016; Hasegawa,Espinola, et al.,2014; Macarena C. Garcia,2017). Also it is common in patients with
HIV because they are prone to various opportunistic infections which tend to be very painful. Thus,
the study to understand the effect of opioids on patients with HIV is very important. ... Show more

Essay On Thurgood Marshall
Throughout history, there has been discrimination against race, religion, gender, orientation, age,
among many other things. From the British preventing the colonists rights to the separate but equal
doctrine people used to justify discrimination against African Americans, America has had its fair
share of it. After years of the mockery of equality that African Americans had, change was needed.
Out of the thousands of voices who brought the winds of change, that were heard the most were:
Martin Luther King Jr., for convincing people to join their cause; Thurgood Marshall, who used the
law to get people to listen to their voices; and the Silent Majority, for without them, freedom would
never truly ring from every mountainside.
While King was the spokesperson, the Silent Majority were the people who really pushed for civil
rights. They were the ones who did the sit ins, boycotts, strikes, and protests. While the organizations
such as the NAACP ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Linda Brown, an African American girl, had to have to walk so far to a school in terrible condition
when there was an all white school close to her house. Her parents hired Marshall on her behalf to find
a way to desegregate schools so black students could go to the same school. This resulted in his most
famous case, Brown v. Board of Education, which argued that it was unconstitutional for schools to be
segregated. (The Road to Civil Rights) Because of his victory in the Supreme Court, the Little Rock
Nine could desegregate Little Rock Central High School, and the only legal way to get them out of the
school was to close it. While working for the NAACP, he also won several other cases that would
pave the way for equality for all, and went on to become the first African American Supreme Court
justice. (The Road to Civil Rights) His efforts helped Martin Luther King Jr. s

  • 2. Essay on Increasing Airline Security Increasing Airline Security Over the past five months, airline and airport security has been in the news almost daily. The events on and since September 11 have completely changed the viewpoints of many Americans, as well as the world, concerning airline security. Between the 18 suicide hijackers to Richard the shoe bomber Reid and the many other terrorists that lurk in the world, flying is definitely not as safe as it once was. I strongly believe that security in airports should be much more strict than it is now, even if it infringes on the people s right to privacy. The last part of that statement is the point of clash for many people because they strongly believe in privacy rights. Before I get to why there should be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These men did not have any other luggage with them though. They used the box cutters to take over the planes and eventually crash the planes into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a Pennsylvania field. A few months later, Richard Reid boarded a plane in Paris, France, headed for America with explosives in his shoes. None of the security precautions discovered the explosives. Only passengers who saw Reid trying to ignite the explosives stopped the destruction of the plane. Reid attempted to blow up this plane only one day after he was detained and extensively questioned while trying to board another plane to America. Since September 11th, many changes have been made to the security in airports, but I believe that they are not enough to keep us safe. Currently, airport security includes armed National Guard troops watching over lobbies and terminals, more checked luggage requirements, and more metal and x ray detectors. Right after the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, every airport in America was shut down for several days and only opened with National Guard soldiers watching for suspicious behavior. But, after only a month of the extra security guards, the majority of the airports were without the Guard troops. Another precaution that airlines are currently taking includes several new checked luggage requirements. In November, Congress passed a law that requires airlines to screen all bags in four ... They are said to have a friendly temperament and is remarked for being attached to their owners. Pit bull dogs are good pets, but they can cause severe problems if they are not trained correctly. Even with their friendly attitude towards human, they are aggressive and defensive towards their territory. This tends to threaten the society when considering how to control the pit bulls of mauling incidents. These bulldogs were described as friendly and kind by his neighbors, who undoubtedly were shocked by the bestial actions of the dogs. Many people are outraged by this horrific behavior of the dogs that unknowingly were a family dog to the boy. Some issues of this devastation had arisen whether banning these attack dogs would be a good solution (Bulwa). Over the past few years, pit bulldogs have been a great concern because of the dog mauling incidents. In the San Francisco Chronicle, it revealed that Denver had passed laws to control certain breeds in dogs to ensure the safety for the people. Canada as well took action. They decided to ban the pit bulldogs in their province in August 2005. Hopefully, by banning the pit bulldogs, there will be less dog mauling devastations in the neighborhood where many people live. Dog mauling is quite common, but it is rarely seen that people are mauled to death by dogs. In the statistics shown by CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), of the 199 dog attack fatalities in the USA between 1979 and 1996, dogs identified as pit bulls were responsible for 60 attacks just under a third. Compared to the second most dangerous group were Rottweilers, which were only responsible for 29 attacks. This had raised issues, causing a turbulent disturbance in the public. Mooncakes In Asian American Culture After generations, mooncakes came to hold a slightly different meaning to the Chinese in America, but nevertheless, the traditional pastries are valued as a piece of their Chinese culture as they continued to clash with those in America. Asian American have slowly lightened their adherence to the traditional versions as their choice of mooncakes and for many, having mooncakes just became a formality during the Mid Autumn Festival. The large amount of money spent by the Chinese reflects the continued importance of the pastries in more recent years. Also, by 2009, China s packaging material waste accounted for a third of the country s solid waste (Sohu Business). That is my first thought upon arriving at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, on March 11, 2010. We stop at a small red roofed gatehouse with a single beamed electric post. The quiet entrance of this base, with its red leafed palms, towering oaks, and rows of citrus trees, set on a 6,000 acre peninsula, has the appearance of an idyllic beach resort. The wooden gatehouse is neither substantial nor imposing. It does not hint of Fortress America nor would it pass the minimum post 9/11 standards of perimeter security. Its diminutive scale is far out of proportion to the consequential institutions on the other side. For me, the disparity is jarring. Small dark lettering at the checkpoint, ... Since that time, there has been an unprecedented shift toward increased alcoholic advertisements in an effort to increase market share and raise profits. This shift brings into light the challenge alcoholic companies face in balancing their fiduciary duties to their shareholders and their corporate and social responsibility to society. From society s perspective, any activities conducted by the alcohol beverage companies to remove alcohol related problems like violence, decreased morality and intoxication related problems like drinking driving are seldom advertised and marketed. In this sense, society is only seeing advertisements related to increased consumption leading to increased profits. Accordingly alcohol industries fail to fulfill their ethical duty to be informative and truthful in their advertising efforts. At present, alcohol beverage companies create a brand image by sponsoring sports and cultural activities that attract drinkers, first starting as a social drinker and then becoming regular drinkers (Munro amp; De Wever, 2008). The current alcohol advertising regulatory system in Australia should aim to minimize exposure and appeal to children (VAADA, 2010). In Australia, advertising activities are regulated by legislation and a code of practice such as the Advertiser Code of Ethics and Alcoholic Beverages Advertising Code (ABAC). This code is based on a voluntary system of self regulation which is funded and administered by the alcohol beverage companies. • 9. The Nuances Of The Ukrainian Conflict The nuances of the Ukrainian conflict In the winter of 2013, thousands of activists braved the freezing cold to protest on the central Maidan Independence Square in Kiev. Their grievance was then President Viktor Yanukovych s decision to align his country closer to Russia by rejecting a trade agreement with the European Union which many had been hoping for. The movement, known as Euromaidan, demanded the removal of Yanukovych from power and the establishment of closer ties to the EU. However, Yanukovych stood firm and the protestors came under fire, probably by members of the security services, and in the ensuring street battles over 100 people, mainly activists (but also some police), were killed. As the conflict grew more intense and particularly after the downing of Malaysian airliner MH17, the United States, Britain and many countries in the EU responded with economic sanctions and increasingly tough rhetoric, with Prince Charles and others likening the actions of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Adolf Hitler. The war has, to date, claimed over 6,000 lives and displaced many more. Fortunately, the bulk of the fighting seems to be over and the situation seems to have relaxed somewhat, a ceasefire signed in February 2015 in the Belarusian capital of Minsk appearing to hold, albeit with violations almost daily. The common narrative, at least the one put forward by Ukraine and much of the West, is one of Russian aggression. Russia, afraid of losing its influence over its former colonies and refusing the accept the modernising, pro Western ambitions of the Ukrainian people, artificially engineered a rebellion through propaganda and blatant lies, labelling the protestors in Kiev as fascists and Neo Nazis, then moved in its own troops under the guise of disgruntled locals and off duty army volunteers to try and disrupt Ukraine s progress. For many, Peter Pan s Neverland may be associated with innocuous connotations, an innocent and whimsical world wherein the harsh and offensive realities of society are unable to penetrate. However, upon closer examination of J.M. Barrie s Peter and Wendy (1911), the notion of innocent childhood fantasy is revealed as a façade, a confirmation that even Neverland and all of its whimsy is not safe from the ideologies which influence racial oppression and demeaning stereotypes. In analyzing the existence of the racial hierarchy within this fantasy world, it is necessary to perform a close reading of passages concerning the Piccaninny Indian tribe which expose the degrading representations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In considering the overarching interpretation regarding depictions of race throughout the novella, this specific excerpt is salient in both its characterization of the tribe and the racial commentary that can be derived as a result. Despite the previous passage s depiction of the Piccaninny through diction that signifies subordination, they are comparatively described here in a violent and masculine manner that suggests a form of power. In this then, one must revisit the previously posed inquiry: is the narrator reproducing the degrading racial hierarchy that labels the other as inferior, or are they persuading the reader to question it? Phraseology such as diabolical cunning to describe their plans not only contradicts the notion that they are a rudimentary people, it also encourages a questioning of the connotations of savagery as it is used throughout the work (174). However, this is not to argue that the passage is any less problematic in its presentation. While certain aspects of the word choice may indicate power, the redskins are still described in a manner that strips them of their humanity. The use of phlegmatic as an adjective to portray the manner in which they should deal pale death suggests that they are inhumane and emotionless creatures (174). • 11. Somali The Somali Banking System The Somali Banking System Anna Koontz Dr. Darcy Hartman AEDE 4536 21 November 2015 A: Introduction and Problem Description Somalia is a war torn nation in East Africa that has been systematically affected by political, economic, and social issues for decades. These issues have profoundly impacted the way that the nation functions as a whole. One of the most significant economic issues that plagues Somalia today is its lack of an effective central bank, and the general scarcity of banks throughout the country. The Central Bank of Somalia does exist, but it is essentially inoperative, as it has no substantial authority and has not officially printed a single bank note since the 1990s1. Currently, the Central Bank of Somalia does not dictate monetary policy whatsoever, and only conducts surveys as it attempts to reconstruct itself 2. Because of this, counterfeit currency makes up a sizable proportion of the money in circulation, and most Somalis rely on remittances transferred from family members abroad to survive. In fact, it is estimated that around 45% of Somalia s economy is made up of these remittances that come from places like Kenya, Ethiopia, and the United States, where large populations of Somali refugees and immigrants currently live3. Not surprisingly, the lack of a banking system has led to currency substitution that appears in many forms. Some use foreign currency or the plentiful counterfeit bills, while others use money issued by regional ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. The Dialectical Model Of Identity Formation In Don s lecture, he discusses the dialectical model of Identity formation, which includes three components or circles that interact. The subjective reality, the objective reality and Indigenous objective reality. Subjective reality is the individual s identity that is comprised of someone s thoughts and feelings. Objective reality is outside of the self, encompassing the culture in mainstream society, such as institutions, history, capitalism and rules. The indigenous objective reality is influenced by both mainstream society and Aboriginal culture. People s feelings and behaviours are likely to mimic those of the urban people around them. There are two process that occur, externalization and internalization. Externalization is the process of taking a thought and projecting it to the objective reality. For example, an individual will externalize their Indigenous culture to school by bringing traditions from home like dances and teaching them to students. Externalizing can also happen from mainstream society to the Indigenous culture by bringing what is learned at school to back to the family. Internalization is how the individual s subjective reality is affected by the surrounding institutions through rules, norms, etc. Therefore, they internalize the Indigenous culture through family traditions, and Internalize mainstream society through the media, school rules, etc. Early Europeans thought that it was impossible for Indigenous peoples to participate in the modern world ... In your view, how relevant is an organization s culture and value system in achieving the objectives of a system of internal controls? The system of internal control is an essential process for both public and private sectors. It is a system which must be implemented to ensure due diligence is exercised during the transactions of the corporate business within all applicable laws and regulations. Policies and procedure must be developed and implemented to prevent fraud, abuse, misappropriation of funds and to protect the company s assets. Without such parameters, it would be difficult to accurately track the expenditures and revenues and for accountability of the business and its employees. The County has a code of conduct in place that each employee must read and sign upon commencement of employment. There are also policies as it relates to use of equipment, credit cards, cash handling procedures, accepting gifts and donations for both Staff and Council. It is important to ensure the budget document is reviewed and up to date regularly. All Departments complete month end reports, within 3 days of the completion of said month. Further, through variance reporting and fiscal forecast updating our Department is able to monitor regularly the status of our respective budgets. Each Department reports to the Finance Department and in turn a report is provided to Council for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd quarters and over the course of the 4th quarter, sometimes monthly reports are provided. There have been fiscal years where Departments have been advised that expenditures are limited to necessities only such as cell phones, office supplies, wages where a significant deficit is being projected. For this reason, as young girls grow up, they look to their fathers for stability and comfort. In the song, the father was the complete opposite of everything good. He failed the young girl by tearing her down and making her life miserable. In Blown Away , the authors Josh Kear and Chris Tompkins use symbolism and imagery to show the difficulties the girl face as a child and how she finds hope for a better future. One device the authors use to portray hope is symbolism. The first way the song exhibits symbolism is through the tornado and the destruction is causes. Carrie Underwood sings, The weather man called for a twister / she pray it blow down (lines 5 6). These lines show that she wants the tornado to come down towards her. It represents the destruction her father has brought her life, but also the hope she has that it will be good for her future. She realizes that while the tornado might destroy everything she owns and knows about her childhood, it will also set her free from her father and the darkness that is bringing her down. Her life is like the storm. Before a storm comes it is dark and dreary outside, much like her life now. After a storm passes the skies clear and a rainbow appears, this is what her life will be like after the tornado passes. The storm takes away all the bad in her life and leaves her with an open path to a brighter future. The second way the authors ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Different therapies and rehabilitation centers offer treatment dealing with the drug that was used. While criminal activity regarding drug use should punish and dealt with, however, more people will benefit in the long term if criminal drug abusers receive treatment rather than just punishment. There are many possible treatments to try and help the person cope with getting away from drugs. The punishment of drugs may be considered a little harsh. Cotton And Sugar Ethical Consumerism Ethical consumption is the practice of purchasing products and services produced in ways that minimizes social and environmental damage while avoiding products and services to have a negative impact on society and environment (Ethical Consumerism: 2007). I personally think that the use of ethical consumption is an effective way for social change because it guarantees that producers are paid a stable amount while being protected. Ethical consumption starts with fair trade. Some examples of ethical consumption would be the selling of dolphin meat, fair trade of coffee, cotton and sugar. Another component to ethical consumption is, the social, economic and environmental outcomes (Cole and Brown 2015: 52). In order for social change, the change has to start with the core principles of asking the question, will it benefit socially, economically and environmentally? Persuasive Essay On Tariffs I think a lot of people are tired of watching other countries ripping off the United States, comments Trump as he implements, a 25 percent tariff on foreign steel and a 10 percent tariff on foreign aluminum when the product comes across our borders. Trump believes that other countries have been taking advantage of the US through the current free trade agreements. We are America the Great ; therefore, of course, we produce steel and aluminum in the cheapest and most efficient way possible. We will save jobs by encouraging other sectors to purchase steel and aluminum domestically. The tariffs will only hurt the other countries, not our own people. This belief is a big joke. They want to have their jobs protected, like many working people do. Trump promised to help those workers. He promised to protect their jobs. That is why he is proposing the tariffs. Yet, the tariffs are not actually beneficial for the workers. By strongly encouraging Americans to use domestic steel and aluminum, the prices are being raised on these products. All the products that have these two products as inputs are also having increased prices. Why were factories buying these goods across the sea? China produces steel and aluminum at a lower marginal cost, allowing them to sell the goods at a lower price and still maximize profit. Therefore, China is the most efficient producer of these products. Instead of trying to inhibit efficiency, Trump should be promoting efficiency. He could do so by encouraging the steel and aluminum factories to discover new ways to produce their goods with a lower marginal cost. Also, maybe American factories could specialize in another industry if China is the lowest cost producer of steel and aluminum. But, these proposals are not being encouraged by Trump and his ... In the US and Australia there were many significant protests undertaken by different groups of brave individuals all to invoke change. Some of the most influential protests were the Montgomery Bus Boycott and the American and Australian Freedom Rides. These protests mainly used the tactic of non violent protests however, they also used boycotts and demonstrations. These protests brought great change to the way that the African Americans were treated in the US and the Indigenous people in Australia, because it forced the public to acknowledge the hardships that they had to face from segregation. The main tactic used by civil rights activists in both Australian and the United states was non violent protests. This is when the activists would protest with methods that would not harm anybody. This was done because the civil rights activists did not want to sink down to their oppressor s level and also so that no legal action could be inflicted on the African American community. The freedom rides in the United States were perfect examples of non violent protests as the leaders of these actions would not harm anybody in the course of change.
