The Three Types of Annoying Shoppers
Tires squeal across the hot asphalt; exhaust fumes fill the air. Innocent shoppers leap to safety as cars
circle the neighborhood grocery store lot in search of the ideal parking spot. Engines revving.
Adrenaline rushing. The driver s sole mission is to obtain a white lined rectangle of pavement before
entering the race known as shopping. As a safety precaution, competent and considerate shoppers
should be aware of the distinct character traits of the three annoying types of shoppers: Hurry Harry,
Suburban Sally, and Picky Pete. Knowledge of their parking lot to checkout stand habits increases the
chance of avoiding a head on collision.

Words are finger painted in the dust on the back window above the bumper stickers declaring, My
child is an honor student and Vacation at Disneyland. Sticky, diapered youngsters spill from the van to
scramble for a rusty cart which desperately needs a front end alignment. Suburban Sally, in a loose
sweatsuit and pink rollers, unravels a grocery list equal to any childÕs letter to Santa. She skillfully
maneuvers the cart through the maze of shoppers, braking without warning, to comparison shop or to
threaten her loud bunch of food guzzlers. With the strength of a two ton truck, she steers her cart to the
finish line. As the cashier rings up her purchases, it is time for her to make one last lap around the
store for a forgotten item. Customers sigh as she pulls out coupons and rebates to offset the sticker
price. She writes a check and calculates the difference before leaving. A good set of brakes and plenty
of tabloids to read are necessary when shopping behind Suburban Sally.
In comparison to her absent minded habits, Picky Pete, the third type of annoying shopper, appears
flawless. Sunlight shines off his latest BMW parked across three spaces farthest from the store; his
political statements boldly expressed on the shiny chrome bumper: Don t blame me, I voted for Bush
and To err is human,

Essay on Functionalism in Education
Having attended public schools throughout my childhood and adolescence, I never was familiar with
the term functionalism and its many elements. After observing and analyzing my field placement
classroom I have come to understand the concept of functionalism to some extent. In general,
functionalists see schools as serving to socialize students to adapt to the economic, political, and social
institutions of that society (Feinberg, p.6, 2004). They also theorize that in order for societies to
survive, they must carry out vital functions such as, attaining fundamental knowledge and acquiring
essential skills and proficiency, acknowledging certain norms and values within their community, and
recognizing authority figures. It is also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As soon as their teacher, Mrs. Root asked them to settle down, they instantly became silent. This is an
example of an unspoken expectation of the teacher and is one of many hidden curriculums that I
witnessed in the classroom. Another instance was during instruction; Mrs. Root had asked a question
pertaining to shapes and who ever knew the answer, demonstrated this particular hidden curriculum by
raising their hand. The functionalist concept, hidden curriculum, is best defined as organizational
features and routines of school life that provide the structure needed to develop the psychological
dispositions appropriate for work and citizenship in industrial society (Feinberg, p. 21, 2004). It is
intended to assist in achieving norms, learning one s position in society, and how to think of oneself.
Hidden curriculum has also been explained as making the transition from family to the real world less
difficult. This concept applies to the examples I gave because when the teacher asked the students to
settle down, they instantly knew that they needed to follow directions. The idea that teachers are
authority figures and deserve to be respected is instilled in children at a very young age and is
expected to be upheld. As for students raising their hands when wanting to speak or answer a question,
this has also been implanted in children s minds and is a norm in today s society. I conducted my

Innocence Taken Essay
Innocence Taken
In a world of violence and greed, parents are on the frontlines of a morality battle for the sake of their
children. If they are not battling teen drug and alcohol abuse, these protectors of progeny constantly
monitor for depression, sexual behavior, bad influences, and everything under the sun that could be in
harms way of their offspring. There are many predators in the game of life that seek to manipulate and
deceive these innocent juveniles for personal gains and selfish reasons. At a time when their childhood
experiences are building the adult that they will become, many are out seeking to distort or pervert this
outcome. Childhood has long been recognized as a critical period in the development of many ...

Even worse was the fact that he had been accused several times of touching students and offering
them money for sexual favors (Bridges). As for the priest, normally one that is respected as a spiritual
leader and link to heaven above, he was caught molesting children when working in South Florida and
was sent to work in Tampa were he again abused at least four more young boys (Kleinberg). But most
despicable of all three is the group of Miami residents. This gaggle of disgust consisted of two men in
their mid 50s and two women, ages forty one and twenty five. They made their living off of selling
girls ranging from twelve to fifteen years young in a child prostitution ring (De Valle). If not for an
anonymous tip, the group s control and manipulation of these girls would have continued.
Control, being a major issue for the pedophile, can be in the form money or expensive possessions that
the child might not otherwise be able to attain. Sometimes drugs are used to hook them into returning
to the source. Pedophiles even will go so far as to threaten the child with physical harm, shame, or
lack of love to keep their silence. Going to extraordinary lengths, these predators major focus is to
maintain the relationship as a secret due to the fact that it is against the law and they know the price
that they will pay in jail if incarcerated. For those that do not know, pedophiles are normally badly
beaten or killed in prison due to the nature of their crime.

Inquiry Intention Essay
Inquiry Intention:
I come from Republican baby boomer parents, whose parents before them were Republicans and so
on. Growing up, I had strict political ideas fused into my spongy childhood brain without any
realization on my part. I m from a very liberal part of the country, and I remember in middle school,
discussing politics in my civics class, and being confused as to why people would get so mad about
the ideas I held as true. My parents talked about this stuff, how could what they say be lies or arrogant
responses to social issues? I soon realized through discussion with my peers that a lot of the stuff I
said I believed in I really didn t agree with and that my views were vastly different from my parents
and those before them. From there I went super radical liberal, spewing my views at my parents telling
them they were wrong! After countless arguments with them, I gave up. They weren t going to change,
and in my cynical teenage head I decided that this was true of everyone. Nobody changes, nothing
changes, everything sucks. Then I gave up on not only changing people, but politics in general. I just

Oral And Oral Of Dental Hygienists
Introduction As dental hygienists we are members of the healthcare community. That means that we
have an extremely important role when it comes to the health of our patients. When patients present
themselves in our treatment room, it is our responsibility to make sure we do not leave anything
unexamined. We are professionals in the practice of identifying, preventing, and treating oral diseases.
We do this by completing thorough extraoral and intraoral exams and being conscious of what to look
for. One particular exam that we do is an oral cancer exam. As dental hygienists we are at the forefront
in identifying this disease. In an article written by Nancy Burkhart, a coauthor of General and Oral
Pathology for the Dental Hygienist, she states, It is known that oral cancer is more likely to be
detected in an early stage in the dental office than those found at a physician s office, which tend to be
at a later stage. (Burkhart, 2014) This may be because dental hygienists focus more on the oral tissues
than physicians do; or the fact that patients go to a doctor when it is already at advanced stages. It is
imperative that we as dental hygienists know the signs and symptoms of oral cancer, as well as the
risk factors involved in developing the disease and how it can be prevented. While it is important as a
dental hygienist to identify oral diseases, it is more important to educate our patients on how they can
avoid any potential abnormalities from becoming severe problems,

Essay On Dc Motors
ABSTRACT Brushless permanent magnet DC motors are being manufactured and used increasingly
in everything from home appliances to automobiles due to their inherent advantages. The merits of
these motors could be enhanced further according to another design approach method which alters the
typically used winding parts for low to medium power range motors. This paper deals with the high
power brushless DC motor used for traction in a 48 V golf cart system. The stator is designed with
segment rectangular copper winding to maximize output power within its limited dimensions. In the
design process, the closed slot opening and slot pole combination are investigated and compared in
terms of efficiency and input current density. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With no windings on the rotor, they are not subjected to centrifugal forces, and because the windings
are supported by the housing, they can be cooled by conduction, requiring no airflow inside the motor
for cooling. This in turn means that the motor s internals can be entirely enclosed and protected from
dirt or other foreign matter. Brushless motor commutation can be implemented in software using a
microcontroller or computer, or may alternatively be implemented in analogue hardware or digital
firmware using an FPGA. Commutation with electronics instead of brushes allows for greater
flexibility and capabilities not available with brushed DC motors, including speed limiting, micro
stepped operation for slow and/or fine motion control, and a holding torque when stationary. 3.
COGGING TORQUE: Cogging torque of electrical motors is the torque due to the interaction
between the permanent magnets of the rotor and the statorslots of a Permanent Magnet (PM) machine.
It is also known as detent or no current torque. This torque is position dependent and its periodicity
per revolution depends on the number of magnetic poles and the number of teeth on the stator.
Cogging torque is an undesirable component for

The Marine Corps As A Marine
Once a Marine, Always a Marine
There are many different cultures or social groups that have a language barrier whether that is because
of religion, race, or social differences. These language barriers eventually will have to be overcome so
that we can all communicate with each other. Out of these social groups, comes the greatest fighting
force in the World, The Marine Corps. Marines have a very unique language dialog that has been
preserved for hundreds of years Unfortunately, there comes a point in time when a Marine must
transition out of the Marine Corps into the Civilian World (as we call it). Transitioning is a very
exciting time for Marines but it also is very difficult time due to the strong language community that
we belong to. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So let us start with the basic acronyms used mostly by the enlisted Marines. PFT which stand for
Physical Fitness Test; which consists of 3 different exercises, One Hundred crunches in two minutes,
three mile run in thirty minutes or less, and twenty pull ups. GCSS, which stands for Global Combat
System Services. That is a program where we order parts and induct vehicles into maintenance. Now,
the officers tend to use a lot more acronyms for lots of things such as OCS, which stands for Officer
Candidate School. When Helicopters have to land for any sort of reason they have to land on an LZ
that stands for landing zone. They also use the term ASP which stands for Ammo Supply Point.
Acronyms are very important to the Marine Corps and are used in a variety of different ways. When
Marines transition into the Civilian World they will have to use less acronyms which may be a little
difficult. But with time they will be able to speak the civilian language fluently.
Marines tend use different words to describe everyday items used by the average Civilian. For
example, a hat would be considered a cover . Depending on what kind of boots you wear, they could
either be considered Jungle Boots or Moon Boots . Jungle boots have two holes on the inside of the
boot near the arch of the foot so that if you were to be in a jungle like situation and there was water in
your boots, the water could drain out through the

Importance Of Association For Mental Health
Association for Mental Health (now MIND) was formed to campaign for better provision for the
mentally disabled.
The National Assistance (NA) Act, 1946, implemented 1948, abolished the Poor Law/Public
Assistance and established the National Assistance Board (NAB), which took over its institutions and
responsibility for means tested benefits. However, all hospitals were absorbed into the National Health
Service, also established 1948. Older and disabled people were divided into the sick , who were placed
in hospitals (c. 90,000 people) and those needing care and attention (c. 42,000) who were placed in
residential homes, overwhelmingly former workhouses. The NAAct required local authorities, under
the control of the NAB, to provide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The NAB was responsible to the Minister of Health, but semi independent and required to work also
with the new Ministry of National Insurance, whose benefits it supplemented. The
National Assistance Act was piloted through the Commons jointly by the Minister of Health,
Aneurin Bevan and the Minister of National Insurance, Jim Griffiths. The boundary between health
care and social care was far from clear and could not easily be for older and disabled people. In 1966
the NAB was abolished and replaced by the Supplementary Benefits
Commission. In 1968 this was absorbed into a new Department of Health and Social Security which
replaced the Ministries of Health and National Insurance, where it remained until 1988, when a
separate Department of Health was established. Responsibility for local government moved
permanently from the Ministry of Health to a separate in department in 1951, further complicating the
relationship between health and social care.
Few new Homes or hospitals were constructed until the late 1950s due to financial constraints.
Surveys in the 1960s found deplorable conditions in both hospitals and Homes for older and disabled
people.
There was a trend from the 1950s towards the replacement of in patient with out patient treatment for
the mentally disabled, influenced by the increasing awareness of psychiatrists of the harmful effects of
long term institutional care for some people, and by the costs of institutions. In 1953 half of

Voltaire s Candide And Swift s Gulliver s Travels
From someone deciding to snooze their alarm an extra time in the morning to deciding if they should
marry their significant other, every decision a person makes will create either a positive or negative
effect on their life. This statement is evident in both Voltaire s Candide and Swift s Gulliver s Travels.
Candide is a satire that was published in 1759 by the French author and philosopher, François Marie
Arouet, better known as Voltaire. Gulliver s Travels is also a satire that was published in 1726 by
Anglo Irish author, Jonathan Swift. In these two stories; no matter how big or small a decision is, it
will inevitably have an effect on the character s quality of life, even if it is not completely apparent at
the time.

To reiterate Pangloss s beliefs that this world is the best of possible worlds he also claims that there is
no effect without a cause. Pangloss uses simple examples in the beginning of the story to demonstrate
what he means. He states: that things cannot be otherwise than as they are; for all being created for an
end, all is necessarily for the best end. Observe, that the nose has been formed to bear spectacles thus
we have spectacles. Legs are visibly designed for stockings and we have stockings (18). This
statement is illogical and quite humorous, as one would think spectacles were made for the nose and
stockings were made for legs, not vice versa. Anyway, this whole story is based on cause and effect.
Every single decision Candide makes affects him in some type of way later in the story. Nevertheless,
it is not obvious what the outcome of the majority of his decisions will be, as this story has many
twists and random outcomes.
It all starts at the castle of Thunder ten tronckh where young Candide lays a kiss on Cunégonde. One
might believe kissing your love would lead to good things to come, however, it is the complete
opposite. The effect of this cause results in Candide being banished from the castle to defend himself
alone. When Candide and Pangloss treat the earthquake victims, Pangloss attempts to comfort the
victims by telling them the earthquake was for

Qin Shi Huang
Qin Shi Huang, First Emperor of China
Qin Shi Huang (or Shi Huangdi) was the First Emperor of a unified China, who ruled from 246 BCE
to 210 BCE. In his 35 year reign, he managed to create magnificent and enormous construction
projects. He also caused both incredible cultural and intellectual growth, and much destruction within
China.
Whether he should be remembered more for his creations or his tyranny is a matter of dispute, but
everyone agrees that Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor of the Qin Dynasty, was one of the most

As emperor, Qin Shi Huang reorganized the bureaucracy, abolishing the existing nobility and

weights and measures, and minted new copper coins.
The Great Wall and Ling Canal:
Despite its military might, the newly unified Qin Empire faced a recurring threat from the north: raids
by the nomadic Xiongnu (the ancestors of Attila s Huns).
In order to fend off the Xiongnu, Qin Shi Huang ordered the construction of an enormous defensive
wall. The work was carried out by hundreds of thousands of slaves and criminals between 220 and
206 BCE; untold thousands of them died at the task.
This northern fortification formed the first section of what would become the Great Wall of China. In
214, the Emperor also ordered construction of a canal, the Lingqu, which linked the Yangtze and Pearl
River systems.
The Confucian Purge:
The Warring States Period was dangerous, but the lack of central authority allowed intellectuals to

Clinton V. Morrison Case Summary
In 1994, Christy Brzonkala, a student at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, stated that
Antonio Morrison and James Crawford raped her. A year later, Brzonkala filed a complaint against
Morrison and Crawford under Virginia Tech s Sexual Assault Policy. After two hearings, Morrison
was found guilty of sexual assault and sentenced to immediate suspension for two semesters. At some
point throughout the duration of these hearings, Morrison personally admitted to having sexual contact
with Brzonkala after she said no twice, however still affirmed that the sexual act was consensual.
Crawford, however, stated that he left the room before any sexual activity commenced and was later
charged with a lesser offense that was unrelated to sexual conduct. Being that both Morrison and
Crawford were valued varsity members of the prestigious Virginia Tech football team and worried
about the continuity of their athletic careers, they made an appeal through the university s
administrative system to reduce their suspensions. After being processed, the punishments were set

The Aesthetic Qualities Of A Musical Selection From Space...
Introduction From a young age, I ve had a great interest in all sorts of music. I appreciate and enjoy
listening to classical, opera, rap, hip hop, country, contemporary and Mexican music. When I signed
up for Music Appreciation, I was excited to learn more about the history of music and the instruments
used. I wanted to learn what to listen for and how to understand the different types of music. There are
many styles of music from different eras. After taking notes on a variety of listening exercises from
different eras, I understand what composers were trying to accomplish with their music. I will discuss
an influential composer and his musical time period, along with events that helped shape his career. I
will also cover a musical period that I believe to be most important to music history. I would also like
to discuss how this course has influenced the way I listen and hear music. Lastly, I will analyze the
aesthetic qualities of a musical selection from Space Odyssey: 2001.

The Death Of An Athlete Dying Young
Housman s To An Athlete Dying Young
A. E. Housman s To an Athlete Dying Young, also known as Lyric XIX in A
Shropshire Lad, holds as its main theme the premature death of a young athlete as told from the point
of view of a friend serving as pall bearer. The poem reveals the concept that those dying at the peak of
their glory or youth are really quite lucky. The first few readings of To an Athlete Dying Young
provides the reader with an understanding of Housman s view of death.
Additional readings reveal Housman s attempt to convey the classical idea that youth, beauty, and
glory can be preserved only in death.
A line by line analysis helps to determine the purpose of the poem. The first stanza of the poem tells of
the athlete s triumph and his glory filled parade through the town in which the crowd loves and cheers
for him. As Bobby
Joe Leggett defines at this point, the athlete is carried of the shoulders of his friends after a winning
race (54). In Housman s words:
The time you won your town the race
We chaired you through the market place;
Man and boy stood cheering by,
And home we brought you shoulder high. (Housman 967).
Stanza two describes a much more somber procession. The athlete is being carried to his grave. In
Leggett s opinion, The parallels between this procession and the former triumph are carefully drawn
(54). The reader should see that
Housman makes another reference to shoulders as an allusion to connect the

The Cultures and Subcultures of the Deaf and Deaf Blind. California University of Pennsylvania
CMD 350: Sign Language amp; Braille I September 27, 2011 The Cultures and Subcultures of the
Deaf and Deaf Blind. Deaf culture describes the social beliefs, behaviors, art, literary traditions,
history, values and shared institutions of communities that are affected by deafness and which use sign
languages as the main means of communication (http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deaf_culture). Much
is the same when describing the social cultures of the deaf blind communities. They come from
different social, vocational and educational backgrounds. They have many jobs and roles: teachers,

are also more self explanatory modes of technology such as video conferencing and captioned

also such things as beliefs and customs that have lent towards the deaf and deaf blind cultures. A
positive attitude toward being deaf is typical in Deaf cultural groups. Deafness is not generally
considered a condition that needs to be fixed. Culturally Deaf people value the use of natural sign
languages that exhibit their own grammatical conventions, such as American Sign Language and
British Sign Language, over signed versions of English or other spoken languages. Deaf culture in the

politely negotiating a signing environment. It is also commonplace for them to arrive early for certain

capital, marketing or other expenditures, or lose category share, any of which could have a
materialistic harmful effect on their business and financial results. Category share and growth could
also be adversely impacted if Kellogg s are not successful in introducing new products.
Agricultural produce, including corn, wheat, soybean oil, sugar and cocoa, are the principal raw
materials used in Kellogg s products. Carton board, corrugated, and plastic are the principal packaging
materials used by the company. The cost of such products may fluctuate widely due to government
policy and regulation, weather conditions, climate change or other unforeseen circumstances. To the

associated with forecasted purchases of raw materials.

Guildford County Case Study
The population in Guildford county at the end of 2017 was 526,953, according to the US census
bureau, and Forsyth s population was 371,511, In 1990 the populations were 349,135 and 266,855
respectively. Some contributing factors for the increase in population are, the location of the counties,
and the amount of higher learning institutions in the area. In 2017 the growth rate of the population in
Guilford county was up 0.73% from the previous year, while Forsyth s rate of growth was higher at
0.95%. ( cite world population) The location of both counties makes them attractive options for those
who want to be close to larger cities, such as, Charlotte and Raleigh but have no desire to live in rural
areas. These counties had the allure of being a manufacturing hub. Textile plants like Cone Mills, R.J.
Reynolds tobacco plant, Western Electric with their electronic engineering facility, and the expansion
of the High Point furniture market allowed Guilford and Forsyth to flourish into the 90s. Many of
those people chose to stay in the area and learn a different trade after the manufacturing plants moved

Abraham Lincoln was a great president. He helped the county become one, and so much more.
Abraham Lincoln was possibly the best at what he did, until the assassination.( Abraham Lincoln
Assassination). Abraham Lincoln, a beloved and hated president of the United States, was
assassinated.
Before Abraham Lincoln was assassinated the things he did were great. He ended the civil war, was
planning to build more since the damage of the civil war. He did away with slavery which was a big
deal. Abraham Lincoln thought it would be smart to take a day off and go to a play at ford s theatre.
The play Lincoln was attending was Our American Cousin Starring Laura Keene.(Michael Burgan) He
thought since the amount of work he did he deserved a break and attended the play. Lincoln didn t

Booth was born in 1838. Booth heard about Lincoln attending the play and knew it was his chance.
Booths original plan was just to kidnap Lincoln and trade him for prisoners of the war. Booth got his

PART A
Joan and Darby ( the taxpayers ) have not filed tax returns in five years since 2005. The taxpayers sold
their home in 2005 and their concerns are whether the sale has had any tax consequences for them.
CGT Event The first issue is whether the sale of the taxpayers Hunter s Hill home on 15th May 2005
has triggered a Capital Gains Tax ( CGT ) event. The applicable statute relevant to this issue is s104
10[1] of the ITAA97[2]. Since the taxpayers home was disposed of with a change of ownership it has
therefore triggered an A1 CGT event. s104 10 also states that the event occurs when the contract was
entered into; in the taxpayers case that is 15th May 2005 and not the 30th June 2005.
CGT Asset Another issue is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore the ITAA97 has specified two main ways of adjusting the calculation. The first method is
called the discount method and it outlined in s115. It can be used only on assets where the CGT event
occurred after 21 September 1999 and by individuals. The taxpayers satisfy both of these conditions
and can therefore use this method. s115 100 states that individuals are to discount their capital gain by
50%. The second method is called the indexation method and is set out in s110 36. Indexation adjusts
the cost base (except the third element) and can only be used if the CGT event occurred after 21st
September 1999. Furthermore, the section states that the taxpayer needs to choose to use the
indexation method; if no choice is made the discount method will be automatically applied. Therefore,
the taxpayers may be limited to using the discount method as it can be assumed they did not specially
choose the indexation method at the time of the CGT event in 2005. However, s103 25 states that the
choice needs to be made on the day the taxpayer lodges their tax return. Since the taxpayers are yet to
lodge theirs, they are still eligible to use this method. s960 275 sets out how to calculate the index
factor:

Using this formula the taxpayers should use an index factor of 1.730715.[9]
Separating the assets As previously mentioned, the contract in which the taxpayers entered into
changed in 1985. It should be noted that while the contract with Oz to

Nietzsche s On The Genealogy Of Morality
In section 13 of Friedrich Nietzsche s On the Genealogy of Morality, he presents his audience with a
metaphor, That the lambs feel anger toward the great birds of prey does not strike us as odd: but that is
no reason for holding it against the great birds of prey that they snatch up the little lambs for
themselves. (Section 13, 25). In this passage, Nietzsche details the complex relationship between the
birds of prey and the lambs. Firstly, I argue that the birds of prey represent the noble class, and the
lambs represent the slave class. This metaphor offers insight into their complex relationship that
ultimately led to a shift from noble to slave morality. Secondly, I argue that this metaphor aids
Nietzsche s broader goals in this piece by explaining the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

In section 13, Nietzsche begins by saying, But let us come back: the problem of the other origin of
good, of the good one was conceived by the man of ressentiment, demands its conclusion. (Section 13,
25). Here Nietzsche is setting up who the lambs represent in his moral theory. He is arguing that
whomever falls under the category of the man of ressentiment is also the group who originated their
own definition of good. This group of people would be the slaves or the lambs. When Nietzsche says,
the man of ressentiment he is talking about a very specific emotion that occurred between the lambs
and the birds of prey. When the slaves saw how powerful, noble, and war like the upper

Raynaud s Phenomenon
Raynaud s Phenomenon
In 1862, French Physician A. G. Maurice Raynaud discovered a condition that caused an intermittent
lack of blood flow to the extremities. Dr. Raynaud highlighted the symptoms and probable causes of
the condition in a doctorate thesis; and later published a book entitled, De l asphyxie locale de la
gangrène symétrique des extrèmitiès (translated by systranet to be: Local asphyxiation and caused to

people with the condition. Since that time, the condition has taken on many different names,
including: Raynaud s Disease, Raynaud s Phenomenon, Raynaud s syndrome (Raynaud s Association,
2016, para. 3), idiopathic Raynaud s and dead finger. The U.S. Department of Health and Human

Studies show that Raynaud s affects females (4.9% 20.1%) more often than males (3.8% 13.5%).
Onset of Primary Raynaud s is usually during early adult years, and onset of Secondary Raynaud s is
dependent on the underlying medical condition (Hansen Dispenza, Lisse, J. R., Oberto Medina, M.
Narayanan, S. A., 2015, p. 6). The Raynaud s Association website informs only one out of ten suffers
seek treatment (para. 3), which would lead one to believe that the prevalence is higher than noted.
Contributing Factors
While the cause of Raynaud s is unknown, factors such as: exposure to cold, underlying disease
processes, chemical exposure, cigarette smoking, injury/trauma, repetitive hand actions, and
medications can increase the risk of developing the condition (University of Rochester Medical
Center, 2016, para. 4). Although Raynaud s has been diagnosed in more than one family member, a

Anime Vs Japanese Appime
Lately, in today society, anime are being dubbed faster than the past. Usually, it takes about a year for
an anime to be dubbed. Patience was killing me more, than waiting for the latest episode. This is why
I prefer Japanese version than the English dubbed version. I prefer subtitle anime because I only wait
once a week for a new episode, it contains the original context and it helps me learn more about the
language and the culture. Japan is an amazing culture that makes you want to visit at least once in
your lifetime. Not only is Japan the country of anime but it also has its own sense of fashion, art, food,
hot spring, tea ceremony, and much more that would peak anyone interested. I was into learning the
Japanese culture when I first started watching anime. Watching anime is one of my hobbies. It is an
animation produced in Japan. A few years ago, when a new anime is released, it takes time for the
dubbed version to be uploaded. Depending on how popular the anime is or how demanding the fans
are, the release dubbed version could take up to 3 months or more. It also depends on many episodes
there are, which could take months or years to complete it. For example, the dubbed version of Hunter
X Hunter (one of my favorite anime) had just begun last year and it is being aired on Toonami every
Saturday at 1 am. The show is currently in episode 72, while the Japanese version is completed with
148 episodes since 2014. Instead of waiting for the new dub episode, just watch the

The Effect Of Temperature And Ph On The Enzyme Activity Of...
The Impact of Temperature and pH on the Enzyme Activity of Catechol Oxidase in Solanum
Tuberosum Samples Abstract The role of an enzyme is to catalyse reactions within a cell. The enzyme
present in a potato (Solanum Tuberosum) is catechol oxidase. In this experiment, the enzyme activity
was tested under different temperature and pH conditions. The objective of this experiment was to
determine the ideal conditions under which catechol oxidase catalyses reactions. In order to do this,
catechol was catalyzed by catechol oxidase into benzoquinone at diverse temperatures and pH values.
The enzyme was exposed to its new environment for 5 minutes before the absorbance of the catechol
oxidase was measured at 420 nm using a spectrophotometer. The use of a spectrophotometer was
crucial for the collection of data in this experiment. When exposed to hot and cold temperatures, some
enzymes were found to denature causing the activity to decrease. Similarly, when the pH was too high
or low, then the catechol oxidase enzyme experienced a significant decrease in activity. It can be
concluded after completing this experiment that the optimal pH for catechol oxidase is 7 and that the
prime temperature is 20º C. Due to the fact that the catechol oxidase was only tested under several
different temperatures and pH values, it is always possible to get a more precise result by decreasing
the increments between the test values. However, our experiment was able to produce accurate results
as to the

Encounters with Death in The Masque of Red Death
After reading Edgar Allan Poe s The Masque of Red Death (317 22), the reader can only conclude that
death is the theme once again in another thrilling horror tale. Other critics such as Patricia H. Wheat,
view this tale as a battle between life and death (51 56). Yet, Leonard Cassuto brings an interesting
theory to this tale According to the narrator s own account, no one survives the Red Death. The only
one who(lives) is Death. The narrator must be death himself (317 20). Reflecting back to the various
critical analogies on tone, character, and allegory on The Masque of Red Death a certain aspect of this
work has yet to be defined. The plague that devastated a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Virgina Clemm, Poe s thirteen year old cousin who he loved dearly and eventually married, also
succumbed to a similar fate as his mother. While singing she had burst a blood vessel in her throat,
causing profuse bleeding and the coughing up of blood. She simply bled to death. Again Poe was
forced to watch helplessly and endure another Masque of Red Death. In comparison, to better
understand the probability of this affliction we should refer to Marie Bonapartes Analytical
Interpretation : Haemoptyses do not last long, either: they occur suddenly and the scarlet blood
appears, especially on the face (514). To further clarify the disease Hemoptysis (current spelling

of pulmonary or bronchial hemorrhage . Hemoptysis, particularly if it involves a large quantity of
blood or recurrent, is a frightening, potentially fatal event. Despite systematic and intensive search, the
cause of hemoptysis is not found in 30 to 40% of cases (Beers MD, Berkow, MD 1999).
While not being able to understand the affliction that had taken away Poe s loved ones, he used his
brilliant imagination to convey how death had left an everlasting impression through his writing of
The Masque of Red Death (317 22).

Responding to the Wii? Market Birth, Collapse, and Rebirthb The videogame industry got off to an
uncertain start in 1972, when television maker Magnavox introduced Odyssey, the first home
videogame console. Priced at $100 (the equivalent of $516 in 2008 dollars),c Odyssey needed a
television screen to project its very limited action. The system came with 12 games, including versions
of tennis and ping pong, each on a printed circuit board.5 However, partly due to some uninspired
marketing and distribution decisions, Odyssey s appeal proved limited. Magnavox sold more than
100,000 game systems by year end, but sales quickly declined and Odyssey was pulled from the
market.6 Enter Atari Around the same time, a young entrepreneur named Nolan Bushnell was
developing arcade games with the use of then new microprocessor technology.7 In 1972, the company
he started, Atari, launched its first hit game an arcade version of ping pong.8 In Pong, two players
batted a ball of light back and forth between on screen paddles. The game instructions were simple:
Avoid missing ball for high score. 9 Pong was an immediate success: 8,500 arcade consoles were sold

Street Fight Movie Analysis
PART I: STREET FIGHT
The documentary Street Fight directed by Marshall Curry covered a boisterous 2002 campaign in
Newark, New Jersey, against a young city councilor Cory Booker verses the cities longest serving
major running for a re election James Sharpe. During the entire documentary there were multiple
points regarding politics and political power. In the beginning of the movie it was noted that some
citizens were afraid to support Booker because they feared being targeted and possibly losing their
homes or businesses. Even though Booker attempted to beat the Sharpe, he was nowhere near as
entrenched and politically connected Sharpe. With the stark difference in the demographics each
runner was targeting it became apparent that Booker was viewed as an outsider to the suburban
residents of Newark that believed Sharpe would be the best candidate to become mayor. With that in
mind, it is clear that social class adds a dimension into consideration of civic engagement (Losco 12).
In my opinion, due to Sharpe s vast influence to achieve his desired goals would be considered a
ruling elite. Paraphrasing from Losco page 5, Sharpe had access to government officials to become re
elected as a government official himself. In the AM GOV text it states, Although citizens may not
agree with specific government policies, they will support as legitimate, or lawful, policies founded
upon accepted contracts and standards. (Losco 5). This can be connected to the documentary by noting

I couldn t believe it, but it was the Klan blacklist, with my picture on it. I guess I must have sat there
for about an hour holding it, says Moody in her autobiography Coming of Age in Mississippi. In
Moody s response to the blacklist, one pervasive theme from her memoir becomes evident: though she
participated in many of the same activist movements as her peers, Moody is separated from them by
several things, chief among them being her ability to see the events of the 1960s through a wide,

years Moody continues to push at the boundaries of society post childhood, which lead to her getting

her more aware of the time in which she was living; in a sense, gaining a broader world view. She

During the allied invasion of France in WWII, American general George Patton said I would rather
have a German division in front of me, than a French division behind me . Throughout history
comparisons have been made between Germany and France, and rightly so, these two countries are the
powerhouses of Europe, very little can be accomplished on the continent without their support. France
and Germany share not only a border but common aspects of their political systems. They are both
bicameral, constitutional republics with centralized national governments. But in recent years the
French political system has become stuck in gridlock while Germany continues to move ahead and
pass legislation. The critical difference between these two countries lies in the way they organize their
parliaments and electoral systems, as well as the use of coalition governments.
The current French political system was developed in 1958, with the creation of the fifth republic,
which was introduced by Charles de Gaulle. The purpose of the new constitution of the fifth republic
was to increase the power of the president while decreasing the power of parliament. Since the
establishment of the fifth republic France has held mostly a two party system leading to many

I Call It The Pursuit Of Happiness, By The Mega Marketing...
Understanding Who We Truly Are Many people will agree with the idea that happiness is the key to a
successful life. Everybody has their own perception of happiness, whether it is a loving family, a
healthy lifestyle, or maybe even money. As people progress through the journey of life, or as I call it
the pursuit of happiness, they undergo an ample of events or experiences that help them understand
the difference between who they think we are, and who they really are. By going through these
favorable or unfavorable experiences, they become emotionally stronger. However, this situation is
not always the case. Most of the times, people find themselves unintentionally altering reality and
avoiding the truth to make almost every situation beneficial. To properly understand happiness, we
have to first tackle the idea of understanding ourselves. The way we view ourselves shapes our
experiences of events to a great extent because we finally understand why we go through what we do.
After thoroughly reading both Immune to Reality , and The Mega Marketing of Depression in Japan ,
I am confidently able to say that reality in our lives is strongly based on our subjective perceptions of
things. To effectively comprehend the stories of ourselves we can begin by looking at what factors
shape how we understand and communicate our emotional experiences. We all know that culture is
ones upbringing and roots that are embedded into their minds at a young age. In addition to that, we

protest occurred in his country, this occurrence allowed him to be awaken with new found knowledge.
The protests were about the price increase and an economic crisis, ever since that it has expanded his
relatively simplistic view of the world. Leading him to understand that education can play a major role
in society, even if it has a small difference. I agree with Sukma s statement about education because
education is more than the amount of money ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the 10th grade I saw Spike Lee s biopic of Malcolm X. From that movie, I learned that Malcolm X
was one of the most influential African Americans in history, but he wasn t always like that. Before he
became an American Muslim Minister, he was a lowlife scoundrel. This all changed when he went to
prison and increased his knowledge. He acquired more knowledge, which led him to understand there
are issues that should be fixed. This led Malcolm X to help the population of African Americans
understand that supremacy and racism exist amongst them. Malcolm X believed that people should be
treated equally, and be given equal rights just like their counterparts. This influenced people to be
more aware of their environment and protest on the problems they face. Eventually, this movement
made the government guarantee that African Americans should be given the most fundamental rights.
Similar to the protest that Sukma encountered, it was all for a cause. This cause was acknowledged
because Malcolm X used his education to understand the bias differences. To a large degree,
moreover, the protest allowed people to let go of their differences and come together to fight a bigger
cause. Education allows people to spread their knowledge to others and allow them to understand the
issues they face. This connects to Sukma s idea that knowledge gives us the ability to take social

Why Concerning Global War On Terrorism And Clash Of...
B. Why relating Global War on Terrorism to Clash of Civilization is incorrect?
There are several factors that argues that relating global war on terrorism to clash of civilization is
incorrect. For example,
a. The Global war on Terror and Huntington s Clash of Civilization could not be engaged in the same
position because the West especially the UK and the US and some other Muslim countries like Saudi
Arabia, the UAE, Pakistan and Uzbekistan helped AQ when it was in war with the Soviet Union
(Lansford, Watson and Covarrubias, 2009). So, according to Joseph Nye (2004: 17), the struggle
against Islamist terrorism is not a clash of civilizations. In the same way, Ahmed S. Hashim (2001:29)
relates that it is not in the interest of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There was an aim of establishing US s hegemony over South Asia by this attack. For example, the
then US President s national security adviser James L. Jones stated while speaking to CNN We have
strategic interests in South Asia that should not be measured in terms of finite times. We are going to
be in the region for a long time (Mazzetti, 2009).
c. Both Al Qaeda and the Bush administration pretended to speak on behalf of their respective
civilizations , but none could be considered as a core representative of the entire civilization to which
they belonged. For example,
After 9/11 Twin Tower attack,
i. The AQ was criticized by Saudi Arabia, Iran, Indonesia, Malaysia and Pakistan. Beside, on the night
of 9/11, Iranians gathered outside the US embassy to offer their sympathy toward the American people
(Shahi, 2017). ii. Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir bin Mohammad made it difficult for Malaysian
jihadists to travel to Afghanistan to fight alongside the Taliban and al Qaida (Shahi, 2017). iii.
President Pervez Musharraf of Pakistan criticized the terrorists for giving Islam a bad name. The
Organization of the Islamic Conference condemned Osama bin Laden s terrorism, but did not
condemn the US response (Gardels, 2001). iv. Most religious leaders in Islamic

Innocent shoppers leap to safety as cars circle the neighborhood grocery store lot in search of the ideal parking spot. Engines revving. Adrenaline rushing. The driver s sole mission is to obtain a white lined rectangle of pavement before entering the race known as shopping. As a safety precaution, competent and considerate shoppers should be aware of the distinct character traits of the three annoying types of shoppers: Hurry Harry, Suburban Sally, and Picky Pete. Knowledge of their parking lot to checkout stand habits increases the chance of avoiding a head on collision. The first annoying type of shopper, Hurry Harry, ... Sticky, diapered youngsters spill from the van to scramble for a rusty cart which desperately needs a front end alignment. Suburban Sally, in a loose sweatsuit and pink rollers, unravels a grocery list equal to any childÕs letter to Santa. She skillfully maneuvers the cart through the maze of shoppers, braking without warning, to comparison shop or to threaten her loud bunch of food guzzlers. With the strength of a two ton truck, she steers her cart to the finish line. As the cashier rings up her purchases, it is time for her to make one last lap around the store for a forgotten item. Customers sigh as she pulls out coupons and rebates to offset the sticker price. She writes a check and calculates the difference before leaving. A good set of brakes and plenty of tabloids to read are necessary when shopping behind Suburban Sally. In comparison to her absent minded habits, Picky Pete, the third type of annoying shopper, appears flawless. Sunlight shines off his latest BMW parked across three spaces farthest from the store; his political statements boldly expressed on the shiny chrome bumper: Don t blame me, I voted for Bush and To err is human, ... After observing and analyzing my field placement classroom I have come to understand the concept of functionalism to some extent. In general, functionalists see schools as serving to socialize students to adapt to the economic, political, and social institutions of that society (Feinberg, p.6, 2004). They also theorize that in order for societies to survive, they must carry out vital functions such as, attaining fundamental knowledge and acquiring essential skills and proficiency, acknowledging certain norms and values within their community, and recognizing authority figures. This is an example of an unspoken expectation of the teacher and is one of many hidden curriculums that I witnessed in the classroom. Another instance was during instruction; Mrs. Root had asked a question pertaining to shapes and who ever knew the answer, demonstrated this particular hidden curriculum by raising their hand. The functionalist concept, hidden curriculum, is best defined as organizational features and routines of school life that provide the structure needed to develop the psychological dispositions appropriate for work and citizenship in industrial society (Feinberg, p. 21, 2004). It is intended to assist in achieving norms, learning one s position in society, and how to think of oneself. Hidden curriculum has also been explained as making the transition from family to the real world less difficult. This concept applies to the examples I gave because when the teacher asked the students to settle down, they instantly knew that they needed to follow directions. The idea that teachers are authority figures and deserve to be respected is instilled in children at a very young age and is expected to be upheld. As for students raising their hands when wanting to speak or answer a question, this has also been implanted in children s minds and is a norm in today s society. I conducted my second ... There are many predators in the game of life that seek to manipulate and deceive these innocent juveniles for personal gains and selfish reasons. Growing up, I had strict political ideas fused into my spongy childhood brain without any realization on my part. I m from a very liberal part of the country, and I remember in middle school, discussing politics in my civics class, and being confused as to why people would get so mad about the ideas I held as true. My parents talked about this stuff, how could what they say be lies or arrogant responses to social issues? I soon realized through discussion with my peers that a lot of the stuff I said I believed in I really didn t agree with and that my views were vastly different from my parents and those before them. From there I went super radical liberal, spewing my views at my parents telling them they were wrong! After countless arguments with them, I gave up. • 9. Oral And Oral Of Dental Hygienists Introduction As dental hygienists we are members of the healthcare community. That means that we have an extremely important role when it comes to the health of our patients. When patients present themselves in our treatment room, it is our responsibility to make sure we do not leave anything unexamined. We are professionals in the practice of identifying, preventing, and treating oral diseases. We do this by completing thorough extraoral and intraoral exams and being conscious of what to look for. One particular exam that we do is an oral cancer exam. As dental hygienists we are at the forefront in identifying this disease. In an article written by Nancy Burkhart, a coauthor of General and Oral Pathology for the Dental Hygienist, she states, It is known that oral cancer is more likely to be detected in an early stage in the dental office than those found at a physician s office, which tend to be at a later stage. (Burkhart, 2014) This may be because dental hygienists focus more on the oral tissues than physicians do; or the fact that patients go to a doctor when it is already at advanced stages. It is imperative that we as dental hygienists know the signs and symptoms of oral cancer, as well as the risk factors involved in developing the disease and how it can be prevented. While it is important as a dental hygienist to identify oral diseases, it is more important to educate our patients on how they can avoid any potential abnormalities from becoming severe problems, ... • 10. Essay On Dc Motors ABSTRACT Brushless permanent magnet DC motors are being manufactured and used increasingly in everything from home appliances to automobiles due to their inherent advantages. The merits of these motors could be enhanced further according to another design approach method which alters the typically used winding parts for low to medium power range motors. This paper deals with the high power brushless DC motor used for traction in a 48 V golf cart system. The stator is designed with segment rectangular copper winding to maximize output power within its limited dimensions. In the design process, the closed slot opening and slot pole combination are investigated and compared in terms of efficiency and input current density. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With no windings on the rotor, they are not subjected to centrifugal forces, and because the windings are supported by the housing, they can be cooled by conduction, requiring no airflow inside the motor for cooling. This in turn means that the motor s internals can be entirely enclosed and protected from dirt or other foreign matter. Brushless motor commutation can be implemented in software using a microcontroller or computer, or may alternatively be implemented in analogue hardware or digital firmware using an FPGA. Commutation with electronics instead of brushes allows for greater flexibility and capabilities not available with brushed DC motors, including speed limiting, micro stepped operation for slow and/or fine motion control, and a holding torque when stationary. 3. COGGING TORQUE: Cogging torque of electrical motors is the torque due to the interaction between the permanent magnets of the rotor and the statorslots of a Permanent Magnet (PM) machine. These language barriers eventually will have to be overcome so that we can all communicate with each other. Out of these social groups, comes the greatest fighting force in the World, The Marine Corps. Marines have a very unique language dialog that has been preserved for hundreds of years Unfortunately, there comes a point in time when a Marine must transition out of the Marine Corps into the Civilian World (as we call it). PFT which stand for Physical Fitness Test; which consists of 3 different exercises, One Hundred crunches in two minutes, three mile run in thirty minutes or less, and twenty pull ups. GCSS, which stands for Global Combat System Services. That is a program where we order parts and induct vehicles into maintenance. Now, the officers tend to use a lot more acronyms for lots of things such as OCS, which stands for Officer Candidate School. When Helicopters have to land for any sort of reason they have to land on an LZ that stands for landing zone. They also use the term ASP which stands for Ammo Supply Point. Acronyms are very important to the Marine Corps and are used in a variety of different ways. When Marines transition into the Civilian World they will have to use less acronyms which may be a little difficult. But with time they will be able to speak the civilian language fluently. Marines tend use different words to describe everyday items used by the average Civilian. For example, a hat would be considered a cover . The boundary between health care and social care was far from clear and could not easily be for older and disabled people. In 1966 the NAB was abolished and replaced by the Supplementary Benefits Commission. In 1968 this was absorbed into a new Department of Health and Social Security which replaced the Ministries of Health and National Insurance, where it remained until 1988, when a separate Department of Health was established. Responsibility for local government moved permanently from the Ministry of Health to a separate in department in 1951, further complicating the relationship between health and social care. Few new Homes or hospitals were constructed until the late 1950s due to financial constraints. Surveys in the 1960s found deplorable conditions in both hospitals and Homes for older and disabled people. There was a trend from the 1950s towards the replacement of in patient with out patient treatment for the mentally disabled, influenced by the increasing awareness of psychiatrists of the harmful effects of long term institutional care for some people, and by the costs of institutions. Voltaire s Candide And Swift s Gulliver s Travels From someone deciding to snooze their alarm an extra time in the morning to deciding if they should marry their significant other, every decision a person makes will create either a positive or negative effect on their life. This statement is evident in both Voltaire s Candide and Swift s Gulliver s Travels. Candide is a satire that was published in 1759 by the French author and philosopher, François Marie Arouet, better known as Voltaire. Gulliver s Travels is also a satire that was published in 1726 by Anglo Irish author, Jonathan Swift. Pangloss uses simple examples in the beginning of the story to demonstrate what he means. He states: that things cannot be otherwise than as they are; for all being created for an end, all is necessarily for the best end. Observe, that the nose has been formed to bear spectacles thus we have spectacles. Legs are visibly designed for stockings and we have stockings (18). This statement is illogical and quite humorous, as one would think spectacles were made for the nose and stockings were made for legs, not vice versa. Anyway, this whole story is based on cause and effect. Every single decision Candide makes affects him in some type of way later in the story. Nevertheless, it is not obvious what the outcome of the majority of his decisions will be, as this story has many twists and random outcomes. It all starts at the castle of Thunder ten tronckh where young Candide lays a kiss on Cunégonde. One might believe kissing your love would lead to good things to come, however, it is the complete opposite. I wanted to learn what to listen for and how to understand the different types of music. There are many styles of music from different eras. After taking notes on a variety of listening exercises from different eras, I understand what composers were trying to accomplish with their music. I will discuss an influential composer and his musical time period, along with events that helped shape his career. I will also cover a musical period that I believe to be most important to music history. I would also like to discuss how this course has influenced the way I listen and hear music. • 19. The Death Of An Athlete Dying Young Housman s To An Athlete Dying Young A. E. Housman s To an Athlete Dying Young, also known as Lyric XIX in A Shropshire Lad, holds as its main theme the premature death of a young athlete as told from the point of view of a friend serving as pall bearer. The poem reveals the concept that those dying at the peak of their glory or youth are really quite lucky. The first few readings of To an Athlete Dying Young provides the reader with an understanding of Housman s view of death. Additional readings reveal Housman s attempt to convey the classical idea that youth, beauty, and glory can be preserved only in death. A line by line analysis helps to determine the purpose of the poem. The first stanza of the poem tells of the athlete s triumph and his glory filled parade through the town in which the crowd loves and cheers for him. As Bobby Joe Leggett defines at this point, the athlete is carried of the shoulders of his friends after a winning race (54). In Housman s words: The time you won your town the race We chaired you through the market place; Man and boy stood cheering by, And home we brought you shoulder high. (Housman 967). Stanza two describes a much more somber procession. The athlete is being carried to his grave. In Leggett s opinion, The parallels between this procession and the former triumph are carefully drawn (54). The reader should see that Housman makes another reference to shoulders as an allusion to connect the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The taxpayers sold their home in 2005 and their concerns are whether the sale has had any tax consequences for them. CGT Event The first issue is whether the sale of the taxpayers Hunter s Hill home on 15th May 2005 has triggered a Capital Gains Tax ( CGT ) event. The applicable statute relevant to this issue is s104 10[1] of the ITAA97[2]. Since the taxpayers home was disposed of with a change of ownership it has therefore triggered an A1 CGT event. s104 10 also states that the event occurs when the contract was entered into; in the taxpayers case that is 15th May 2005 and not the 30th June 2005. The first method is called the discount method and it outlined in s115. It can be used only on assets where the CGT event occurred after 21 September 1999 and by individuals. The taxpayers satisfy both of these conditions and can therefore use this method. s115 100 states that individuals are to discount their capital gain by 50%. The second method is called the indexation method and is set out in s110 36. Indexation adjusts the cost base (except the third element) and can only be used if the CGT event occurred after 21st September 1999. Furthermore, the section states that the taxpayer needs to choose to use the indexation method; if no choice is made the discount method will be automatically applied. Therefore, the taxpayers may be limited to using the discount method as it can be assumed they did not specially choose the indexation method at the time of the CGT event in 2005. However, s103 25 states that the choice needs to be made on the day the taxpayer lodges their tax return. Since the taxpayers are yet to lodge theirs, they are still eligible to use this method. s960 275 sets out how to calculate the index factor: [pic] Using this formula the taxpayers should use an index factor of 1.730715.[9] Separating the assets As previously mentioned, the contract in which the taxpayers entered into changed in 1985. In Vienna he suffered bouts of depression and sometimes experienced extreme highs. Soon at age 21 Hitler began to become interested in politics which would help play out his soon to be career (Hitler, Adolf). In May 1913, Hiter moved to Munich Germany which he became an advocate for the upcoming war. Hitler wasn t worried about making a living in Munich because of his faith in the war arising, but Hitler was right. On August 1, 1914 a huge crowd including Hitler gathered in a big public plaza in Munich to celebrate the german proclamation for war. Hearing the news Hitler thanked heaven for him to be alive for the Great War. Two days later, Hitler volunteered for the German Army. Hitler found the trenches of the battlefield to be his new home. • 31. The Effect Of Temperature And Ph On The Enzyme Activity Of... The Impact of Temperature and pH on the Enzyme Activity of Catechol Oxidase in Solanum Tuberosum Samples Abstract The role of an enzyme is to catalyse reactions within a cell. The enzyme present in a potato (Solanum Tuberosum) is catechol oxidase. In this experiment, the enzyme activity was tested under different temperature and pH conditions. The objective of this experiment was to determine the ideal conditions under which catechol oxidase catalyses reactions. In order to do this, catechol was catalyzed by catechol oxidase into benzoquinone at diverse temperatures and pH values. The enzyme was exposed to its new environment for 5 minutes before the absorbance of the catechol oxidase was measured at 420 nm using a spectrophotometer. The use of a spectrophotometer was crucial for the collection of data in this experiment. When exposed to hot and cold temperatures, some enzymes were found to denature causing the activity to decrease. Similarly, when the pH was too high or low, then the catechol oxidase enzyme experienced a significant decrease in activity. It can be concluded after completing this experiment that the optimal pH for catechol oxidase is 7 and that the prime temperature is 20º C. Due to the fact that the catechol oxidase was only tested under several different temperatures and pH values, it is always possible to get a more precise result by decreasing the increments between the test values. However, our experiment was able to produce accurate results as to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Encounters with Death in The Masque of Red Death Essays Encounters with Death in The Masque of Red Death After reading Edgar Allan Poe s The Masque of Red Death (317 22), the reader can only conclude that death is the theme once again in another thrilling horror tale. Other critics such as Patricia H. Wheat, view this tale as a battle between life and death (51 56). Yet, Leonard Cassuto brings an interesting theory to this tale According to the narrator s own account, no one survives the Red Death. The only one who(lives) is Death. The narrator must be death himself (317 20). Reflecting back to the various critical analogies on tone, character, and allegory on The Masque of Red Death a certain aspect of this work has yet to be defined. The plague that devastated a ... While singing she had burst a blood vessel in her throat, causing profuse bleeding and the coughing up of blood. She simply bled to death. Again Poe was forced to watch helplessly and endure another Masque of Red Death. In comparison, to better understand the probability of this affliction we should refer to Marie Bonapartes Analytical Interpretation : Haemoptyses do not last long, either: they occur suddenly and the scarlet blood appears, especially on the face (514). To further clarify the disease Hemoptysis (current spelling Websters 1999ed.) as noted: The spitting of blood derived from the lungs or bronchial tubes as a result of pulmonary or bronchial hemorrhage . Hemoptysis, particularly if it involves a large quantity of blood or recurrent, is a frightening, potentially fatal event. Despite systematic and intensive search, the cause of hemoptysis is not found in 30 to 40% of cases (Beers MD, Berkow, MD 1999). While not being able to understand the affliction that had taken away Poe s loved ones, he used his brilliant imagination to convey how death had left an everlasting impression through his writing of The Masque of Red Death (317 22). (SCEI), had just gotten off a conference call with journalists. It was late August 2008, and the reporters were inquiring about Afrika, a new safari videogame for Sony s PlayStation 3 (PS3) console that allowed players to watch wild animals and take virtual pictures. Hirai could not help feeling frustrated. Most of the conversation like many others with Sony outsiders in the past month had revolved around two questions: Was Afrika Sony s answer to the casual games that were partly responsible for the runaway success of rival Nintendo s Wii videogame console? Market Birth, Collapse, and Rebirthb The videogame industry got off to an uncertain start in 1972, when television maker Magnavox introduced Odyssey, the first home videogame console. Priced at $100 (the equivalent of $516 in 2008 dollars),c Odyssey needed a television screen to project its very limited action. The system came with 12 games, including versions of tennis and ping pong, each on a printed circuit board.5 However, partly due to some uninspired marketing and distribution decisions, Odyssey s appeal proved limited. Magnavox sold more than 100,000 game systems by year end, but sales quickly declined and Odyssey was pulled from the market.6 Enter Atari Around the same time, a young entrepreneur named Nolan Bushnell was developing arcade games with the use of then new microprocessor technology.7 In 1972, the company he started, Atari, launched its first hit game an arcade version of ping pong.8 In Pong, two players batted a ball of light back and forth between on screen paddles. The game instructions were simple: Avoid missing ball for high score. 9 Pong was an immediate success: 8,500 arcade consoles were sold in the first year.10 Bushnell ... • 34. Street Fight Movie Analysis PART I: STREET FIGHT The documentary Street Fight directed by Marshall Curry covered a boisterous 2002 campaign in Newark, New Jersey, against a young city councilor Cory Booker verses the cities longest serving major running for a re election James Sharpe. During the entire documentary there were multiple points regarding politics and political power. In the beginning of the movie it was noted that some citizens were afraid to support Booker because they feared being targeted and possibly losing their homes or businesses. Even though Booker attempted to beat the Sharpe, he was nowhere near as entrenched and politically connected Sharpe. With the stark difference in the demographics each runner was targeting it became apparent that Booker was viewed as an outsider to the suburban residents of Newark that believed Sharpe would be the best candidate to become mayor. With that in mind, it is clear that social class adds a dimension into consideration of civic engagement (Losco 12). In my opinion, due to Sharpe s vast influence to achieve his desired goals would be considered a ruling elite. Paraphrasing from Losco page 5, Sharpe had access to government officials to become re elected as a government official himself. In the AM GOV text it states, Although citizens may not agree with specific government policies, they will support as legitimate, or lawful, policies founded upon accepted contracts and standards. I guess I must have sat there for about an hour holding it, says Moody in her autobiography Coming of Age in Mississippi. In Moody s response to the blacklist, one pervasive theme from her memoir becomes evident: though she participated in many of the same activist movements as her peers, Moody is separated from them by several things, chief among them being her ability to see the events of the 1960s through a wide, uncolored perspective (pun intended). Whereas many involved on either side of the civil rights movement became caught up in its objectives, Moody kept a level head and saw things as honestly as she could, even if it meant thinking negatively of her ... While playing, she looks over her white friend s privates, and, as is explained in the book, thinks I examined each of them three times, but I didn t see any differences. I still hadn t found that secret. Even as a child, Moody is bright enough to question the role of race in her society. In Part 2 Teenage years Moody continues to push at the boundaries of society post childhood, which lead to her getting involved in activist causes as a teen. After the wife of a Klan member mentions the NAACP, Moody asks her mother to tell her more about the organization. Her mother responds with scorn to the situation, refusing to tell her daughter about the NAACP and also telling her never to ask any white person about it either. Nonetheless, Moody asks another adult about the organization and eventually gets a full five hours of history on the movement. Moody s newfound knowledge of the NAACP made her more aware of the time in which she was living; in a sense, gaining a broader world view. She more or less says as much in her memoir when she writes I couldn t go on pretending I was dumb and innocent, pretending I didn t know what was going on. At the time, these views set her apart from not only her classmates, but her family as well. French And German Comparative Politics University of Toronto French and German Comparative Politics Daniel Mendes November 10, 2014 POL 207Y Professor Mathias Albert TA: Michael Pelz Session: Wednesday 9 10 Student ID: 1000433122 MLA citation style During the allied invasion of France in WWII, American general George Patton said I would rather have a German division in front of me, than a French division behind me . Throughout history comparisons have been made between Germany and France, and rightly so, these two countries are the powerhouses of Europe, very little can be accomplished on the continent without their support. France and Germany share not only a border but common aspects of their political systems. They are both bicameral, constitutional republics with centralized national governments. But in recent years the French political system has become stuck in gridlock while Germany continues to move ahead and pass legislation. The critical difference between these two countries lies in the way they organize their parliaments and electoral systems, as well as the use of coalition governments. The current French political system was developed in 1958, with the creation of the fifth republic, which was introduced by Charles de Gaulle. The purpose of the new constitution of the fifth republic was to increase the power of the president while decreasing the power of parliament. Since the establishment of the fifth republic France has held mostly a two party system leading to many majority ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. I Call It The Pursuit Of Happiness, By The Mega Marketing... Understanding Who We Truly Are Many people will agree with the idea that happiness is the key to a successful life. Everybody has their own perception of happiness, whether it is a loving family, a healthy lifestyle, or maybe even money. As people progress through the journey of life, or as I call it the pursuit of happiness, they undergo an ample of events or experiences that help them understand the difference between who they think we are, and who they really are. By going through these favorable or unfavorable experiences, they become emotionally stronger. However, this situation is not always the case. Most of the times, people find themselves unintentionally altering reality and avoiding the truth to make almost every situation beneficial. To properly understand happiness, we have to first tackle the idea of understanding ourselves. The way we view ourselves shapes our experiences of events to a great extent because we finally understand why we go through what we do. After thoroughly reading both Immune to Reality , and The Mega Marketing of Depression in Japan , I am confidently able to say that reality in our lives is strongly based on our subjective perceptions of things. To effectively comprehend the stories of ourselves we can begin by looking at what factors shape how we understand and communicate our emotional experiences. We all know that culture is ones upbringing and roots that are embedded into their minds at a young age. In addition to that, we found ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From that movie, I learned that Malcolm X was one of the most influential African Americans in history, but he wasn t always like that. Before he became an American Muslim Minister, he was a lowlife scoundrel. This all changed when he went to prison and increased his knowledge. He acquired more knowledge, which led him to understand there are issues that should be fixed. This led Malcolm X to help the population of African Americans understand that supremacy and racism exist amongst them. Malcolm X believed that people should be treated equally, and be given equal rights just like their counterparts. This influenced people to be more aware of their environment and protest on the problems they face. Eventually, this movement made the government guarantee that African Americans should be given the most fundamental rights. Similar to the protest that Sukma encountered, it was all for a cause. This cause was acknowledged because Malcolm X used his education to understand the bias differences. To a large degree, moreover, the protest allowed people to let go of their differences and come together to fight a bigger cause. Education allows people to spread their knowledge to others and allow them to understand the issues they face. This connects to Sukma s idea that knowledge gives us the ability to take social ...
