A Speech On The Dark Side
I was in a poor mood the moment I opened my eyes. Not only did I have a headache, my dad left the
house early. I knew where he had snuck off to and I should finally realize there was no use raising my
hopes. He will never keep his promise no matter how much I fool myself into believing his lies. He
was addicted to gambling and no amount of hearing his hollow words about quitting will ever happen.
The one button he always pushes is when he says his little problem is much better than him being a
booze hound or a drug addict. I had finally gotten tired of him using this excuse and counted with it
didn t matter in the end because all of them can get you put into the hospital or in the ground just as
fast. I felt ashamed about last ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How could it not be with my father always at the track and me at my part time jobs and going to
afternoon, night, and weekend classes at the local community college? I did burn out a few lightbulbs
studying several nights in a roll before exams, but my books had my attention more than the TV in the
living room that was collecting dust. A single lightbulb use less electric then the boob tube. I was also
fortunate that my part time jobs gave me numerous opportunities to study. I worked at the exit gate of
the parking lot at the mall during the day when there were very few shoppers. Because of gas fumes
you could only work so many days in a row. I also worked at the local condiment plant as quantity
control. That job had me checking all outgoing shipments heading north. It was always the smallest
orders with the shortest routes, but it was the one that had the most complaints of missing items (until
I started doing the quantity control). The job was simple. Once an order for the trucks are counted and
tagged for each supermarket on the trucker s route is done, there is nothing left to do until the
Loadmaster call me over to check on the next shipment. Oh, but there was one more. My last part time
job was working at a bookstore as a cashier during the day. It s not unusual for someone working at a
book store to see them nose deep into a book. The benefit working this particular job is that no one
bothered you unless they needed help knowing which

Write A Term Paper On Pluto
In 1906, Percival Lowell, founded the Lowell Observatory and started an project in search of a
possible ninth planet, or planet x .
Pluto was discovered, by astronomer Clyde W. Tombaugh, on 18 February 1930. This period in
astronomy was of intense planet hunting.
Pluto is smaller than any other planet and smaller than Earth s moon. It s dense and rocky but its
nearest neighbors are the gaseous Jovian planets. It is due to this that it is believed that Pluto
originated elsewhere in space and got caught in the sun s gravity. Pluto s orbit is erratic, all other
planets orbit the sun in a flat plane.
The International Astronomical Union made an altering decision in 2006. The International
Astronomical Union stripped Pluto from its planet status and issued a new set of requirements that
would define whether ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pluto however fail to clear its orbital neighborhood and on that the International Astronomical Union
labelled that Pluto is not a planet.
Pluto s moon Charon, is about half of Pluto s size. Pluto as well as its moon, Charon, orbit a common
center of gravity. Pluto however orbits this center of gravity at a much closer distance than Charon,
and is this the reason that Charon is considered to be Pluto s moon. Pluto is further also on the
borderline of a region in our solar system, the Kuiper Belt, where many ice bodies orbit the sun at a
very large distance.
Pluto has thus not cleared its orbital neighborhood and was defined as a dwarf planet. Dwarf planets
orbit the sun, are nearly round, have note cleared its orbital neighborhood and does not orbit any other
body.
There is so many evidence that indicates that Pluto does not adhere to the requirements to be seen as a
planet that I also think that Pluto should not be seen as a planet but rather either as a binary system
together with its moon, Charon, or a dwarf planet, as it is currently classified

Greek Writing Impact
Chapter 1 Introduction According to Professor Joshua J. Mark from Marist College, New York,
Writing is the physical manifestation of a spoken language. (Mark et al, 2011) In fact, from this quote,
this attains this topic needed for discussion in this research paper, in order to how writing was used for
monumental purposes in the classical era. In this research assignment, one will begin to see the great
impacts that writing has compassed in Ancient Greece and Rome, by presenting three commentaries
on vital fields that has some of the biggest impact on writing and language; systematically through
religion, politics and communal. Although, religion has probably been the greater impactor on writing
, which will be discussed later on, but all three fields will be investigated as all three sources show
various styles of writing relating to the material investigated. Of the three sources examined in this
paper, two of which are in Ancient Greek and one in Latin. Each source will help to provide evidence
to show how writing was used for monumental purposes. First source examined, is presented from
The Epidaurian Miracle Tablets in Ancient Greek, which will investigate how religion culture had a
great role to play on writing in the fourth century BCE. This source ... Show more content on

When analgising these three sources in the upcoming chapters, take not that all three have a strong
emphasis on a specific topic that the research may suggest that was not only vital in life or death but in
writing and literature too. Therefore, this evidence may lead to conclude this paper to suggest that
religion was used as superiority when it came to writing in the classical periods, making religion a
monumental factor in

Essay about Cannibalism
Cannibalism is the consumption of human flesh by other human beings. The concept of people eating
other people is highly debatable, but it has been proven to occur throughout history. The word
cannibalism comes from the Carib Indians of the West Indies, which were called Caribales quot; or
Canibales (Spier 543). The Spanish word canibales translates to thirsty and cruel in English. Another
known term for cannibalism is the Latin form anthropophagy (Bell). Anthropophagy derives from the
Greek words anthropos meaning man and phagein meaning eat. The term anthropophagy was used in
ancient times, which suggests that people from ancient times consumed other human beings (Spier
543).
The first documented encounter of cannibalism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After half of the travelers had died, the remaining people started to eat the flesh of the deceased in
attempts of survival. Forty six survivors were eventually rescued, but they received excessive
judgement for their actions. They were tried for their crimes of cannibalism, and they all served six
months in prison before they could return to their communities (Bell).
Another case of survival cannibalism took place in 1972 when a group of South American rugby
players were stranded in the Andes Mountains. Forty five people left on an airplane for their
destination of Chile, and only sixteen would make it alive. Their plane crashed into the Andes
Mountains, killing thirteen people from the crash itself. The crash also injured many others who would
eventually die over the weeks from their injuries. The mountains offered no supplies or food for
support. With no food, many of the crash survivors resorted to eating the deceased. Those survivors
who refused to eat their fellow people died of starvation. This group of people spent seventy days in
the mountains before the sixteen survivors were rescued and brought home (Bell). The story of these
South American athletes would be the plot for the movie Alive (1993) which was based on a true story
(Goldman).
Another form of cannibalism that has taken place is spiritual and ritual cannibalism. There are many
forms of it worldwide. The first is exocannibalism which is when a group or

Racism And Sexism
Racism and sexism are the unfortunate realities to exist in our society. Both of said institutions can
shape the experiences of people, especially people of color. In order to speak more about this, it is best
to define what racism and sexism is. Racism can be defined as the belief in the superiority of one race
over another. On the other hand, sexism is the behavior, conditions, or attitudes that foster stereotypes
of social roles based on gender. It comes as no surprise that both acts of racism and sexism often, if
not always, results in the discrimination as well as prejudice towards people of different races,
ethnicities, as well as gender. It has been theorized that racism and sexism are not fixed ideas, rather,
they are social constructs

The Value Of Taking Responsibility Essay
The Value in Taking Responsibility During the late 1800 s and early 1900 s a series of laws and
campaigns were instated to prevent forest fires. It was believed that forest fires would greatly damage
the timber industry due to the loss of trees the forests would suffer as a result. The longer these
campaigns persisted, the worse the forest fire breakouts became, and the forests continued to degrade.
Many animals were also displaced and threatened as a result of these intense fires. Eventually forestry
researchers and conservationists started looking at what fires did to the various ecosystems. They
found that fires actually promote the growth of healthier, stronger trees by burning the weak trees and
providing more nutrients for the soil. By suppressing fires, the forests experienced large amounts of
degradation, and many animals were threatened by the loss of sustainable habitats. Controlled burns
every few years actually benefits all the organisms living in that ecosystem, however, in some places it
s nearly impossible to burn. After so many years of fire suppression the leaf litter has accumulated to
such large amounts that any fire started would burn to hot and high for the forest to survive. Human
interests often times have profound affects on the world around them. There are many instances like
the above example in which peoples own self interests end up hurting and degrading the environment
around them. In the aftermath of events such as this, there are many

Public Service At The Station
With a house in the suburbs and a small family, life on the outside looked as ordinary as it seemed.
However, growing up in the Atlanta Bonnie Lee Kellogg knew, the controversy was in plain sight. Her
first experiences with music occurred as a teenager when she bought her first AM radio. During the
nights, she would listen to various stations across the states where 50,000 watt coverage was available.
Red Jones, the on air disk jockey of her local radio station, announced her as the winner of a contest to
be a disk jockey for the day (Kellogg 2016). Even after the contest had finished and her prize
received, she would continue to work at the station writing PSA s (public service announcements) and
was assigned other errands. She would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She was a liberal thinker living amongst conservative minds. Many of the friends that she had were
considered outcasts by Atlanta social standards. One of her friends was expelled from the Peace Corps
because he dared to date a black woman in Africa. She went to high school with the son of a governor
who took out an ax to repel demonstrators and shut down his restaurant rather than serve blacks
(Kellogg 2016). Dating the captain of the Atlanta Hawks basketball team, the couple would remain in
safe neighborhoods out of fear of the violence he would face for being out with a white girl (Kellogg
2016). Working in the radio industry, she had a lot of black friends, and it was recalling those
moments in the present how unusual it was to go to the clubs and see artists such as Ray Charles and
the Fifth Dimension performing in person. Growing up listening to black artists, there was a lot of
hostility regarding the racist attitude of the rest of Atlanta versus her own. This is evident in an essay
written by her in 1976 titled Today I m Going to Be Green served as the advertising campaign for
ARCO oil that envisioned her perspective of the world in the year of 2076. In her writing, she
imagined the world where color didn t matter and is optimistic about the direction concerning the
progress going forward (Kellogg 2016). Her support for equal rights was a part of her principles,

Robert Cohn Isolationism
The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway perfectly encapsulates the confused, alienated, and
immoral generation that matured into adults by the end of World War I. Hemingway opens the novel
with the narrator describing a man named Robert Cohn. He was an insecure Jewish boxer from a well
off family. The narrator ponders the reasons for Cohn being a boxer despite not caring much for the
sport. Ultimately, he finds comfort in his conclusion that Robert boxes in order to let off steam, in fact
he says, being very shy and a thoroughly nice boy, he never fought anyone except for in the gym.
Hemingway is setting up Cohn s character as a metaphor for the older generation. Cohn is shown to
have a strict set of morals and believes only resorting to violence when necessary. ... Show more

Later on, the reader finds out that Cohn is not a war veteran, despite all of his friends having served.
Robert has not faced the violence that the others have. He, like the older generation, will never
understand the trauma and change brought on by WWI. He assumes he can still move on with the
morals taught to him by his parents, and their parents before them, despite all that has happened.
Correspondingly, Harding s presidency was founded on the same idea, a Return to normalcy . This is
proven wrong when Cohn breaks and attacks Jake, even though Jake had done nothing wrong to him.
This directly contradicted Cohn s beliefs and left him confused and upset. Afterwards, Jake returns to
the hotel to find Robert crying in the dark. He asks to shake Jake s hand through his tears. This is
representative of the shattering of previous beliefs and the desperate measures to get them back in the
early 1920 s. Cohn resorts to what he knows, despite it not fixing his actions. The damage had been
done, and no amount of pretending could change

Blindness In Sophocles Oedipus The King
Oedipus Rex Essay
They say that there is no real definition of what it is to see something. We have all become
accustomed to seeing things that are right in front of us that we sometimes forget what we are truly
seeing. We tend to forget about the beauty behind certain things and we forget how lucky we are to be
able to see them. On the other hand, sometimes we try to close our eyes to the things we hate. During
a scary movie or horrific event, people may cover there eyes and choose to not see the truth and what s
really in front of them. Oedipus Rex wasn t able to see the truth, and yet Teiresias, a blind man saw it
plainly. Oedipus is known for his intelligence but chooses to be ignorant and therefore blind to the
truth about himself and his past. In Oedipus the King, Sophocles uses the blindness motif effectively
by making Oedipus blind throughout the story by his refusal to see that the prophecy has come true,
while Tiresias physical blindness allows him to see the truth. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Disadvantages And Disadvantages Of Trade Blocs
Trade Blocs
A regional trading bloc is an intergovernmental agreement or treaty among a group of countries, acting
together for a common purpose of removing or reducing trade barriers of trading between the
participating nations. It is a form of economic integration, creating high level of globalization and
regionalisation. Economic integration is the integration of economies on different aspects of trade and
thus, reduction of its barriers among the countries. World trade is being shaped by economic
integration, whose level defines the degree and nature of economic relationship among countries.

Disadvantages of trading blocs
1. Loss by Trade Policies
Free Trade benefits from trading among different blocs are lost.
The countries may also, lose their resources while trading it to the more efficient members and may
become a country will less resources for future and cause its downfall.
2. Competitiveness of trade
Trading blocs may like to distort world trade, and thus, reduce the benefits of the specialisation and
exploit the competitive advantages of the members.
3. Monopoly
The firms of the member countries may merge to become a largest and leading monopoly. This would
lead to the diseconomies of Scale, if this becomes very large.
4. Trade diversion Inefficiencies
When trade gets diverted from an efficient producer which are outside the trading area, is called Trade
Diversion. This would lead to the loss of efficient producers. Example: Inefficient farmers of
European Union protected from low cost imports that may come from developing countries.
5. Trade Disputes
One regional trading bloc lead to the making of another trading bloc, leading to the trade disputes.
Example: In 1970s, reacting to the UK joining European Market, various former UK colonies formed

Diversity Reflection
The implications and understandings developed in class were a gateway in applying it to real world
work. Being given the opportunity to volunteer at The Continuum, I was able to understand the
meaning of disability in the lives of others. I saw firsthand how access, knowledge, and care can
transform a person s daily life in all aspects. With educative modules on assistive technology, culture
and care, family issues, and many others, I was able to transform my perspective and practice what I
am currently learning in the classroom. The Continuum provides a ReGenerations Adult Day Club for
individuals who may deal with Alzheimer s disease, Dementia, Traumatic Brain Injuries, Stroke
Recovery, Parkinson s disease, and M.S. . This program is fundamental in providing an array of
different care, and I found it to be beneficial for more than just their members. Through my 15 hours
of volunteer experience with The Continuum, I analyzed how a person s disability can be managed
and addressed using a variety of techniques and methods, in caring for individuals.
My first day volunteering had me nervous, but with an excited anticipation of being able to help
others, while learning. I immediately assessed the location for how they incorporated accessibility in
their framework, in regard to, the layout, doors, and general environment. It is interesting how once
you are aware of something, it easily becomes incorporated in simple daily life. I was given a brief

My Life Changed For The Worst
I remember the day so vividly, the day that my life changed for the worst. It was just like every other
year. We were going to get Tux, my cat, shaved. He s a long haired cat so we get him shaved every
summer so he does not get unbearably hot. This year was slightly different, though. Along with getting
him shaved, we were getting some potential tumors checked to see if they were cancerous, and get
them removed. Although I was nervous about the tumors, I did not think much of it because nobody
expects their cat to have cancer. The car ride to the vet was just like every other time, except the traffic
was heavier than usual that morning. It was around 7 o clock in the morning. It was a sunny day,
probably around 80 degrees. My mom and I were carrying on small talk, and we had the radio playing
quietly for background noise in hope of it calming Tux down. My mom thought it was annoying how
much Tux talks in the car, but I find it very humorous. He never talks more than he does when he goes
on car rides. We finally arrived at the vet clinic, after what seemed to be such a long car ride between
Tux crying and all the traffic along the way. I picked the heavy cage up off my lap that held Tux inside
of it. My mom went over to the receptionist to her know that we had arrived, but Tux and I went to go
sit down in the waiting area. I had on my favorite pair of Soffee shorts, and I could not quit thinking
about how cold it was inside the animal clinic. I remember when I sat down

Decriminalization Of Mental Health
Additionally, in order to combat the large increase in homelessness many of whom are war vets, who
have been diagnosed with a mental illness, and also those who have been involved in
deinstitutionalization in the late 60 s; the Mental Health Act created a bill that would help end
homelessness. The bill would only work if the Department of Health and Human services awards
grants in order to provide; Mental Health Services, Education about mental health, and integrated,
coordinated treatment for disorders that constantly reoccur.
Lastly, in hopes of limiting the amount of individuals being sent to psychiatric facilities, the Mental
Health and Parity Act creates preventive measures for those who may be susceptible to mental illness
and those who are currently struggling with a diagnosed illness. The bill would put into place
preventive measures by teaching individuals vital information regarding the illness, while also helping

As soon as I got the door open though, freezing cold water came rushing in, hitting me like cold, hard

there were many more. The mountainous terrain as well as a deeply entrenched sense of independence
probably allowed the system to remain more of a loose confederation than a central republic, like that
of Rome. The early Roman republic probably began around the year 509 BCE and lasted for more
than 450 years before the gradual decay of its republican institutions. The Senate, which concentrated
political leadership, had come in place by 300 BCE or so to represent the ruling class of patricians and
wealthier members of the plebs. The typical Roman citizen lived in the country and the bulk of the
Roman economy was based on agriculture and land ownership. But as the empire grew

Ode On A Grecian Urn Essay
Essay on Ode on a Grecian Urn
In John Keats s poem Ode on a Grecian Urn, the reader is given descriptions of the urn. The urn is old
and Keats is acting as the interpreter of the urn. This essay will argue that the poem Ode on a Grecian
Urn conveys the idea that art shows an idealized human existence that cannot be achieved by humans.
In stanza two, John Keats introduces the scene of two young lovers on the urn to show idealized love.
There is a young man and woman on the Urn. The young man is listening the young woman sing.
Keats descries her voice: Heard melodies are sweet, but those unheard are sweeter; ... Her singing is
sweeter than any human can imagine. Thus the scene on the urn has a better vocal ability than humans
despite being mute; meaning that art shows a better human existence. Later on in the stanza Keats
states: Through winning near the goal yet, do not grieve; She cannot fade, through thou has not thy
bliss, For ever wilt thou love and she be fair! In these lines, the young man doesn t have bliss because
bliss would be catching the girl. The bliss part will only last a short period, and is not as powerful as
the emotions right before the catch. Thus the young man should not be sad that he doesn t have bliss
because he will forever love her and she will forever be beautiful. In the human world love ends and
people grow old. The scene on the urn will always show love, and the people will never grow old.
Thus art has the ability to last; therefore the

I Hear America Singing The American Dream
Despite many people insisting that the American Dream is unattainable because of issues people will
face in America, others argue that the American Dream is still very achievable these days because of
the opportunities we provide, and new ways of living in the United States.
Only in America can someone start with nothing and achieve the American Dream. That s the
greatness of this country (Rafael Cruz). A controversial topic a lot of people discuss is whether the
American Dream is only just a dream now. Many argue that financially and emotionally it s hard to
live an easy life. Others state that the U.S is the greatest country on earth and can provide endless
opportunities for anyone. The American Dream is still a reasonable goal in America, ... Show more

As times have changed, you don t have to live like everyone else and always try to gain money with
the white picket fence around your perfect garden home. Instead to live a happy, loving life. Courtney
Martin, a wife, mother of two children explains that everyone can have their own American Dream.
She describes to everyone that not everybody has to achieve the same thing. Courtney herself doesn t
own a house, but instead lives in a small community approximately the size of 1.8 acres, her family
and the neighbors all dine together 3 times a day but make sure to make privacy for one another. The
houses are all eco friendly with solar panels so an electricity bill over ten dollars is scarce. Now this
isn t the American Dream many people desire and it is abnormal from regular living lifestyles, but this
is a new way of living that makes Courtney

I Swear Im Not The Devil
Mental illness is an issue affecting over 300 million people worldwide with numbers steadily climbing
annually regardless of increased efforts to create awareness. If left untreated, disorders such as
depression and anxiety could affect the sufferer to the extent where they may decide to take their own
life. Despite this alarming reality, stigmas and prejudices around people affected by these disorders
remain embedded within the larger whole of society. My decision to use this topic as the subject of my
design stems from my personal history with mental illness and the influence it exercises on my daily
life. Awareness around this issue is still heavily marked with stigma in spite of the overwhelming
research and studies validating its reality. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Shakespeare Is Shakespeare
To be or not to be Why is Shakespeare still relevant? Shakespeare is still relevant because his poems
and plays continue to live on even though he is dead. His plays and poems are all so well executed and
they all have a theme . For example in the play Antony and Cleopatra there are a number of themes
such as loyalty, honour, romance and betrayal. Also the play contains many poetic narrations such as
my desolation begins to make a better life
One of the many themes of the play Antony and Cleopatra is loyalty Antony loved Cleopatra so much
and was so loyal to her that he gave up being part of the triumvirate to stay with her. He even betrayed
Caesar by abandoning his sister and his wife. He even went to war with Caesar because of Cleopatra
while she on the other hand was never loyal to Antony even though she claims to kill herself over him.
Her constant willingness throughout the play to manipulate him is an indication of the fact that she d
betray him as soon as it was convenient for her, either politically or emotionally she wasn t as loyal to
him as much as he was loyal to her. Also another example of loyalty from the play is Enobarbus after
Enobarbus deserts Antony he then ultimately regrets the decision so much that he dies of his sorrow he
was very loyal to Antony but something went wrong that made him betray Antony but because of how
loyal he was before to Antony he then died of his sorrow regretting not being loyal to Antony till the
end. Another

The Virtues Of Isolation Summary
Annotated Bibliography
AGAINST:
Crane, Brent. The Virtues of Isolation. The Atlantic, Atlantic Media Company, 30 Mar. 2017,
www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2017/03/the virtues of isolation/521100/.
The Virtues of Isolation , written by Brent Crane, states that under the right circumstances being alone
can provide significant psychological help. The article stated that scientists often associate isolation
with negative outcomes due to it having adverse effects on the minds of children. However, when it is
voluntarily pursued, it can be shown to have significant befits some would even say its therapeutic.
That temporarily isolating yourself gives you a chance to take a step back and take a good look at
yourself. It alleviates the stress on our everyday lives and lets us relax. That the difference between
solitude as therapy and solitude as misery depends on the quality of self reflection that a person
experiences, and the ability to reintegrate into social groups when their ready.
Edmonds, Molly. What are the effects of isolation in the mind? HowStuffWorks Science,
HowStuffWorks, 6 Apr. 2010, science.howstuffworks.com/life/inside the mind/emotions/isolation
effects.htm.
What are the effects of isolation in the mind? discusses the scientific aspect of what transpires in our
brains when we are lonely vs non lonely. Writer Molly Edmonds tells us how The University of
Chicago researchers conducted an experiment to see how lonely people s brains react to certain stimuli
as opposed to that of a non lonely person. Both the lonely and non lonely subjects were shown
photographs of people in both pleasant and unpleasant settings. When viewing the pleasant pictures,
the non lonely subjects showed much more activity in a section of the brain known as the ventral
striatum than the lonely subjects. The ventral striatum is a part of the brain that deals with learning and
part of the brain s reward center. The lonely subjects showed less activity in this region of the brain
while viewing the pleasant pictures and unpleasant pictures. The results left researchers wondering
whether loneliness rewires the brain to function differently or if the brain inclines certain people to
feel isolated.

Descriptive Essay About Goldfinger Concert
Crowd surfing at a Goldfinger Concert was the best feeling i ve ever experienced, but getting a
cigarette put out on your back isn t the best feeling in the world. I went to a Sublime with Rome, The
offspring, The Urge, Reel Big Fish, and Goldfinger concert this september for my birthday with my
friends harrison, travis, kam, harrison, and brogan. While we were listening to Goldfinger perform, we
tried to get into the moshpit that was going on at the front of the concert. First, we got our blankets
and pillows ready on the lawn of the main stage and got some snacks from the snack bar, Which was
very, very expensive. A red bull was $5 and a 20oz bottle of water was about $7. Not the best prices
difference between water and a red bull. We got back to the main venue and the urge just started
performing. I didn t really know any songs by them so i just sat there and ate my food that i got from
the snack bar and my backpack that i filled with snacks. The urge ended and we went to the other
venue where people were all migrating to to see the Beastie Boys cover band perform. The bass of the
songs that they were playing were literally making my ears move into my brain. They played a couple
more songs and left the venue. After that we went back to the snack bar and got more water and a little
more snacks for the meantime while the other bands were getting ready to perform. We just got to the
Goldfinger performance and tried to get to the front of the concert by pushing and shoving people out
of the way. It was pretty much impossible to get to the front of the venue because every time we got
closer there were more people bunched up together trying to get closer. Eventually some guy in a
wheelchair came through and we followed the guys behind him but he suddenly got stopped in the
middle of the crowd. Then, we asked these two big guys with muscles the side of yachts. Harrison
went up first and started heading to the front surfing in the crowd. People weren t paying much
attention behind them because they were focused on the concert, so harrison eventually got dropped
onto the floor, but the guy next to him lifted him up again and he made it to the front of the concert
still crowd surfing. The same people lifted me

Most research on capital structure has focused on public, nonfinancial corporations with access to U.S.
or international capital markets. This is the right place to start. These companies have the broadest
menu of financing choices and can adjust their capital structures at relatively low cost. Yet even 40
years after the
Modigliani and Miller research, our understanding of these firms financing choices is limited. We
know much more about financing tactics for example the tax efficient design or timing of a specific
security issue than about financing strategy, for example the firm s choice of a target overall debt
level.
Research on financing tactics confirms the importance of taxes, information differences and agency
costs. Whether these factors have first order effects on the overall levels of debt vs. equity financing is
still an open question. Debt ratios of established, public U.S. corporations vary within apparently
homogenous industries.
There is also variation over time, even when taxation, information differences and agency problems
are apparently constant.
Some Facts about Financing
Most of the aggregate gross investment by U.S. nonfinancial corporations has been financed from
internal cash flow (depreciation and retained earnings).
External financing in most years covers less than 20 percent of real investment, and most of that
financing is debt. Net stock issues are frequently negative: that is, more

The Blood Sucking Behavior Of Hirudo
The Blood Sucking Behavior of Hirudo Miguel Soto Professor Folkerts Pepperdine University 23
April 2014 Abstract Hirudo are well known for their blood sucking, fluid feeding behavior. The
purpose of this experiment was to get a better understanding of Hirudo s blood feeding behavior; more
specifically, the study was designed to answer the question: how do different volumes of blood affect
Hirudo s thirst? By soaking a sponge with different volumes of cow blood and measuring the time it
took for the Hirudo to attach to the blood soaked sponge, the experiment yielded results that help
explain whether or not there was a connection between the amount of blood available to Hirudo for
feeding and the time it takes Hirudo to attach to the blood source. The experiment was conducted
using six Hirudo, with a total of ten different volumes of blood per sponge (ranging from 1mL to
10mL) and two trials done for each volume of blood. Data collected from the experiment was
analyzed with the SPSS program and found that differences in attachment time for the various levels
of blood in the sponge were significant at the .05 level. These results explain that Hirudo do in fact
take significantly less time to attach to a blood source containing a higher volume of blood. This
information can be helpful for medical practitioners who use Hirudo as an alternative form of
medicine. In nature, these results can also help explain Hirudo s feeding behavior and how Hirudo
utilizes these behaviors for

  • 2. A Speech On The Dark Side I was in a poor mood the moment I opened my eyes. Not only did I have a headache, my dad left the house early. I knew where he had snuck off to and I should finally realize there was no use raising my hopes. He will never keep his promise no matter how much I fool myself into believing his lies. He was addicted to gambling and no amount of hearing his hollow words about quitting will ever happen. The one button he always pushes is when he says his little problem is much better than him being a booze hound or a drug addict. I had finally gotten tired of him using this excuse and counted with it didn t matter in the end because all of them can get you put into the hospital or in the ground just as fast. I felt ashamed about last ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... How could it not be with my father always at the track and me at my part time jobs and going to afternoon, night, and weekend classes at the local community college? I did burn out a few lightbulbs studying several nights in a roll before exams, but my books had my attention more than the TV in the living room that was collecting dust. A single lightbulb use less electric then the boob tube. I was also fortunate that my part time jobs gave me numerous opportunities to study. I worked at the exit gate of the parking lot at the mall during the day when there were very few shoppers. Because of gas fumes you could only work so many days in a row. I also worked at the local condiment plant as quantity control. That job had me checking all outgoing shipments heading north. It was always the smallest orders with the shortest routes, but it was the one that had the most complaints of missing items (until I started doing the quantity control). The job was simple. Once an order for the trucks are counted and tagged for each supermarket on the trucker s route is done, there is nothing left to do until the Loadmaster call me over to check on the next shipment. Oh, but there was one more. My last part time job was working at a bookstore as a cashier during the day. It s not unusual for someone working at a book store to see them nose deep into a book. The benefit working this particular job is that no one bothered you unless they needed help knowing which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Write A Term Paper On Pluto In 1906, Percival Lowell, founded the Lowell Observatory and started an project in search of a possible ninth planet, or planet x . Pluto was discovered, by astronomer Clyde W. Tombaugh, on 18 February 1930. This period in astronomy was of intense planet hunting. Pluto is smaller than any other planet and smaller than Earth s moon. It s dense and rocky but its nearest neighbors are the gaseous Jovian planets. It is due to this that it is believed that Pluto originated elsewhere in space and got caught in the sun s gravity. Pluto s orbit is erratic, all other planets orbit the sun in a flat plane. The International Astronomical Union made an altering decision in 2006. The International Astronomical Union stripped Pluto from its planet status and issued a new set of requirements that would define whether ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pluto however fail to clear its orbital neighborhood and on that the International Astronomical Union labelled that Pluto is not a planet. Pluto s moon Charon, is about half of Pluto s size. Pluto as well as its moon, Charon, orbit a common center of gravity. Pluto however orbits this center of gravity at a much closer distance than Charon, and is this the reason that Charon is considered to be Pluto s moon. Pluto is further also on the borderline of a region in our solar system, the Kuiper Belt, where many ice bodies orbit the sun at a very large distance. Pluto has thus not cleared its orbital neighborhood and was defined as a dwarf planet. Dwarf planets orbit the sun, are nearly round, have note cleared its orbital neighborhood and does not orbit any other body. There is so many evidence that indicates that Pluto does not adhere to the requirements to be seen as a planet that I also think that Pluto should not be seen as a planet but rather either as a binary system together with its moon, Charon, or a dwarf planet, as it is currently classified ... • 4. Greek Writing Impact Chapter 1 Introduction According to Professor Joshua J. Mark from Marist College, New York, Writing is the physical manifestation of a spoken language. (Mark et al, 2011) In fact, from this quote, this attains this topic needed for discussion in this research paper, in order to how writing was used for monumental purposes in the classical era. In this research assignment, one will begin to see the great impacts that writing has compassed in Ancient Greece and Rome, by presenting three commentaries on vital fields that has some of the biggest impact on writing and language; systematically through religion, politics and communal. Although, religion has probably been the greater impactor on writing , which will be discussed later on, but all three fields will be investigated as all three sources show various styles of writing relating to the material investigated. Of the three sources examined in this paper, two of which are in Ancient Greek and one in Latin. Each source will help to provide evidence to show how writing was used for monumental purposes. First source examined, is presented from The Epidaurian Miracle Tablets in Ancient Greek, which will investigate how religion culture had a great role to play on writing in the fourth century BCE. This source ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When analgising these three sources in the upcoming chapters, take not that all three have a strong emphasis on a specific topic that the research may suggest that was not only vital in life or death but in writing and literature too. Therefore, this evidence may lead to conclude this paper to suggest that religion was used as superiority when it came to writing in the classical periods, making religion a monumental factor in ... • 5. Essay about Cannibalism Cannibalism is the consumption of human flesh by other human beings. The concept of people eating other people is highly debatable, but it has been proven to occur throughout history. The word cannibalism comes from the Carib Indians of the West Indies, which were called Caribales quot; or Canibales (Spier 543). The Spanish word canibales translates to thirsty and cruel in English. Another known term for cannibalism is the Latin form anthropophagy (Bell). Anthropophagy derives from the Greek words anthropos meaning man and phagein meaning eat. The term anthropophagy was used in ancient times, which suggests that people from ancient times consumed other human beings (Spier 543). The first documented encounter of cannibalism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After half of the travelers had died, the remaining people started to eat the flesh of the deceased in attempts of survival. Forty six survivors were eventually rescued, but they received excessive judgement for their actions. They were tried for their crimes of cannibalism, and they all served six months in prison before they could return to their communities (Bell). Another case of survival cannibalism took place in 1972 when a group of South American rugby players were stranded in the Andes Mountains. Forty five people left on an airplane for their destination of Chile, and only sixteen would make it alive. Their plane crashed into the Andes Mountains, killing thirteen people from the crash itself. The crash also injured many others who would eventually die over the weeks from their injuries. The mountains offered no supplies or food for support. With no food, many of the crash survivors resorted to eating the deceased. Those survivors who refused to eat their fellow people died of starvation. This group of people spent seventy days in the mountains before the sixteen survivors were rescued and brought home (Bell). The story of these South American athletes would be the plot for the movie Alive (1993) which was based on a true story (Goldman). Another form of cannibalism that has taken place is spiritual and ritual cannibalism. There are many forms of it worldwide. The first is exocannibalism which is when a group or ... • 6. Racism And Sexism Racism and sexism are the unfortunate realities to exist in our society. Both of said institutions can shape the experiences of people, especially people of color. In order to speak more about this, it is best to define what racism and sexism is. Racism can be defined as the belief in the superiority of one race over another. On the other hand, sexism is the behavior, conditions, or attitudes that foster stereotypes of social roles based on gender. It comes as no surprise that both acts of racism and sexism often, if not always, results in the discrimination as well as prejudice towards people of different races, ethnicities, as well as gender. • 7. The Value Of Taking Responsibility Essay The Value in Taking Responsibility During the late 1800 s and early 1900 s a series of laws and campaigns were instated to prevent forest fires. It was believed that forest fires would greatly damage the timber industry due to the loss of trees the forests would suffer as a result. The longer these campaigns persisted, the worse the forest fire breakouts became, and the forests continued to degrade. Many animals were also displaced and threatened as a result of these intense fires. Eventually forestry researchers and conservationists started looking at what fires did to the various ecosystems. They found that fires actually promote the growth of healthier, stronger trees by burning the weak trees and providing more nutrients for the soil. By suppressing fires, the forests experienced large amounts of degradation, and many animals were threatened by the loss of sustainable habitats. Controlled burns every few years actually benefits all the organisms living in that ecosystem, however, in some places it s nearly impossible to burn. After so many years of fire suppression the leaf litter has accumulated to such large amounts that any fire started would burn to hot and high for the forest to survive. Human interests often times have profound affects on the world around them. There are many instances like the above example in which peoples own self interests end up hurting and degrading the environment around them. In the aftermath of events such as this, there are many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, growing up in the Atlanta Bonnie Lee Kellogg knew, the controversy was in plain sight. Her first experiences with music occurred as a teenager when she bought her first AM radio. During the nights, she would listen to various stations across the states where 50,000 watt coverage was available. Red Jones, the on air disk jockey of her local radio station, announced her as the winner of a contest to be a disk jockey for the day (Kellogg 2016). Even after the contest had finished and her prize received, she would continue to work at the station writing PSA s (public service announcements) and was assigned other errands. She would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She was a liberal thinker living amongst conservative minds. Many of the friends that she had were considered outcasts by Atlanta social standards. One of her friends was expelled from the Peace Corps because he dared to date a black woman in Africa. She went to high school with the son of a governor who took out an ax to repel demonstrators and shut down his restaurant rather than serve blacks (Kellogg 2016). Dating the captain of the Atlanta Hawks basketball team, the couple would remain in safe neighborhoods out of fear of the violence he would face for being out with a white girl (Kellogg 2016). Working in the radio industry, she had a lot of black friends, and it was recalling those moments in the present how unusual it was to go to the clubs and see artists such as Ray Charles and the Fifth Dimension performing in person. Growing up listening to black artists, there was a lot of hostility regarding the racist attitude of the rest of Atlanta versus her own. This is evident in an essay written by her in 1976 titled Today I m Going to Be Green served as the advertising campaign for ARCO oil that envisioned her perspective of the world in the year of 2076. • 9. Robert Cohn Isolationism The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway perfectly encapsulates the confused, alienated, and immoral generation that matured into adults by the end of World War I. Hemingway opens the novel with the narrator describing a man named Robert Cohn. He was an insecure Jewish boxer from a well off family. The narrator ponders the reasons for Cohn being a boxer despite not caring much for the sport. Ultimately, he finds comfort in his conclusion that Robert boxes in order to let off steam, in fact he says, being very shy and a thoroughly nice boy, he never fought anyone except for in the gym. Hemingway is setting up Cohn s character as a metaphor for the older generation. Cohn is shown to have a strict set of morals and believes only resorting to violence when necessary. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Later on, the reader finds out that Cohn is not a war veteran, despite all of his friends having served. Robert has not faced the violence that the others have. He, like the older generation, will never understand the trauma and change brought on by WWI. He assumes he can still move on with the morals taught to him by his parents, and their parents before them, despite all that has happened. Correspondingly, Harding s presidency was founded on the same idea, a Return to normalcy . This is proven wrong when Cohn breaks and attacks Jake, even though Jake had done nothing wrong to him. This directly contradicted Cohn s beliefs and left him confused and upset. Afterwards, Jake returns to the hotel to find Robert crying in the dark. He asks to shake Jake s hand through his tears. This is representative of the shattering of previous beliefs and the desperate measures to get them back in the early 1920 s. Cohn resorts to what he knows, despite it not fixing his actions. • 10. Blindness In Sophocles Oedipus The King Oedipus Rex Essay They say that there is no real definition of what it is to see something. We have all become accustomed to seeing things that are right in front of us that we sometimes forget what we are truly seeing. We tend to forget about the beauty behind certain things and we forget how lucky we are to be able to see them. On the other hand, sometimes we try to close our eyes to the things we hate. During a scary movie or horrific event, people may cover there eyes and choose to not see the truth and what s really in front of them. Oedipus Rex wasn t able to see the truth, and yet Teiresias, a blind man saw it plainly. Oedipus is known for his intelligence but chooses to be ignorant and therefore blind to the truth about himself and his past. In Oedipus the King, Sophocles uses the blindness motif effectively by making Oedipus blind throughout the story by his refusal to see that the prophecy has come true, while Tiresias physical blindness allows him to see the truth. ... Being given the opportunity to volunteer at The Continuum, I was able to understand the meaning of disability in the lives of others. I saw firsthand how access, knowledge, and care can transform a person s daily life in all aspects. With educative modules on assistive technology, culture and care, family issues, and many others, I was able to transform my perspective and practice what I am currently learning in the classroom. • 13. My Life Changed For The Worst I remember the day so vividly, the day that my life changed for the worst. It was just like every other year. We were going to get Tux, my cat, shaved. He s a long haired cat so we get him shaved every summer so he does not get unbearably hot. This year was slightly different, though. Along with getting him shaved, we were getting some potential tumors checked to see if they were cancerous, and get them removed. Although I was nervous about the tumors, I did not think much of it because nobody expects their cat to have cancer. The car ride to the vet was just like every other time, except the traffic was heavier than usual that morning. It was around 7 o clock in the morning. It was a sunny day, probably around 80 degrees. My mom and I were carrying on small talk, and we had the radio playing quietly for background noise in hope of it calming Tux down. My mom thought it was annoying how much Tux talks in the car, but I find it very humorous. He never talks more than he does when he goes on car rides. We finally arrived at the vet clinic, after what seemed to be such a long car ride between Tux crying and all the traffic along the way. I picked the heavy cage up off my lap that held Tux inside of it. My mom went over to the receptionist to her know that we had arrived, but Tux and I went to go sit down in the waiting area. I had on my favorite pair of Soffee shorts, and I could not quit thinking about how cold it was inside the animal clinic. I remember when I sat down ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 22. Ode On A Grecian Urn Essay Essay on Ode on a Grecian Urn In John Keats s poem Ode on a Grecian Urn, the reader is given descriptions of the urn. The urn is old and Keats is acting as the interpreter of the urn. This essay will argue that the poem Ode on a Grecian Urn conveys the idea that art shows an idealized human existence that cannot be achieved by humans. In stanza two, John Keats introduces the scene of two young lovers on the urn to show idealized love. There is a young man and woman on the Urn. The young man is listening the young woman sing. Keats descries her voice: Heard melodies are sweet, but those unheard are sweeter; ... Her singing is sweeter than any human can imagine. Thus the scene on the urn has a better vocal ability than humans despite being mute; meaning that art shows a better human existence. Later on in the stanza Keats states: Through winning near the goal yet, do not grieve; She cannot fade, through thou has not thy bliss, For ever wilt thou love and she be fair! In these lines, the young man doesn t have bliss because bliss would be catching the girl. The bliss part will only last a short period, and is not as powerful as the emotions right before the catch. Thus the young man should not be sad that he doesn t have bliss because he will forever love her and she will forever be beautiful. In the human world love ends and people grow old. The scene on the urn will always show love, and the people will never grow old. Thus art has the ability to last; therefore the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

His plays and poems are all so well executed and they all have a theme . For example in the play Antony and Cleopatra there are a number of themes such as loyalty, honour, romance and betrayal. Also the play contains many poetic narrations such as my desolation begins to make a better life One of the many themes of the play Antony and Cleopatra is loyalty Antony loved Cleopatra so much and was so loyal to her that he gave up being part of the triumvirate to stay with her. He even betrayed Caesar by abandoning his sister and his wife. He even went to war with Caesar because of Cleopatra while she on the other hand was never loyal to Antony even though she claims to kill herself over him. Her constant willingness throughout the play to manipulate him is an indication of the fact that she d betray him as soon as it was convenient for her, either politically or emotionally she wasn t as loyal to him as much as he was loyal to her. Also another example of loyalty from the play is Enobarbus after Enobarbus deserts Antony he then ultimately regrets the decision so much that he dies of his sorrow he was very loyal to Antony but something went wrong that made him betray Antony but because of how loyal he was before to Antony he then died of his sorrow regretting not being loyal to Antony till the end. The Atlantic, Atlantic Media Company, 30 Mar. 2017, www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2017/03/the virtues of isolation/521100/. The Virtues of Isolation , written by Brent Crane, states that under the right circumstances being alone can provide significant psychological help. The article stated that scientists often associate isolation with negative outcomes due to it having adverse effects on the minds of children. However, when it is voluntarily pursued, it can be shown to have significant befits some would even say its therapeutic. That temporarily isolating yourself gives you a chance to take a step back and take a good look at yourself. It alleviates the stress on our everyday lives and lets us relax. That the difference between solitude as therapy and solitude as misery depends on the quality of self reflection that a person experiences, and the ability to reintegrate into social groups when their ready. Edmonds, Molly. What are the effects of isolation in the mind? HowStuffWorks Science, HowStuffWorks, 6 Apr. 2010, science.howstuffworks.com/life/inside the mind/emotions/isolation effects.htm. What are the effects of isolation in the mind? discusses the scientific aspect of what transpires in our brains when we are lonely vs non lonely. Writer Molly Edmonds tells us how The University of Chicago researchers conducted an experiment to see how lonely people s brains react to certain stimuli as opposed to that of a non lonely person. Both the lonely and non lonely subjects were shown photographs of people in both pleasant and unpleasant settings. When viewing the pleasant pictures, the non lonely subjects showed much more activity in a section of the brain known as the ventral striatum than the lonely subjects. The ventral striatum is a part of the brain that deals with learning and part of the brain s reward center. The lonely subjects showed less activity in this region of the brain while viewing the pleasant pictures and unpleasant pictures. The results left researchers wondering whether loneliness rewires the brain to function differently or if the brain inclines certain people to feel isolated. Khullar, Dhruv. How ... The bass of the songs that they were playing were literally making my ears move into my brain. They played a couple more songs and left the venue. After that we went back to the snack bar and got more water and a little more snacks for the meantime while the other bands were getting ready to perform. This is the right place to start. These companies have the broadest menu of financing choices and can adjust their capital structures at relatively low cost. Yet even 40 years after the Modigliani and Miller research, our understanding of these firms financing choices is limited. We know much more about financing tactics for example the tax efficient design or timing of a specific security issue than about financing strategy, for example the firm s choice of a target overall debt level. Research on financing tactics confirms the importance of taxes, information differences and agency costs. Whether these factors have first order effects on the overall levels of debt vs. equity financing is still an open question. Debt ratios of established, public U.S. corporations vary within apparently homogenous industries. There is also variation over time, even when taxation, information differences and agency problems are apparently constant. Some Facts about Financing Most of the aggregate gross investment by U.S. nonfinancial corporations has been financed from internal cash flow (depreciation and retained earnings). External financing in most years covers less than 20 percent of real investment, and most of that financing is debt. Net stock issues are frequently negative: that is, more ... • 34. The Blood Sucking Behavior Of Hirudo The Blood Sucking Behavior of Hirudo Miguel Soto Professor Folkerts Pepperdine University 23 April 2014 Abstract Hirudo are well known for their blood sucking, fluid feeding behavior. The purpose of this experiment was to get a better understanding of Hirudo s blood feeding behavior; more specifically, the study was designed to answer the question: how do different volumes of blood affect Hirudo s thirst? By soaking a sponge with different volumes of cow blood and measuring the time it took for the Hirudo to attach to the blood soaked sponge, the experiment yielded results that help explain whether or not there was a connection between the amount of blood available to Hirudo for feeding and the time it takes Hirudo to attach to the blood source. The experiment was conducted using six Hirudo, with a total of ten different volumes of blood per sponge (ranging from 1mL to 10mL) and two trials done for each volume of blood. Data collected from the experiment was analyzed with the SPSS program and found that differences in attachment time for the various levels of blood in the sponge were significant at the .05 level. These results explain that Hirudo do in fact take significantly less time to attach to a blood source containing a higher volume of blood. This information can be helpful for medical practitioners who use Hirudo as an alternative form of medicine. In nature, these results can also help explain Hirudo s feeding behavior and how Hirudo utilizes these behaviors for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
