This document provides instructions and guidelines for students in a Year 7 Art class. It discusses procedures for art class, responsibilities of students, and how to properly organize and label work in a visual diary and art folder. 2. HOW DO YOU BEHAVE IN
THE ART ROOM?

6. WHAT IS A ZEN-TANGLE?
• A drawing using

14. EXTRA: CORPSE
ZENTANGLE
• Draw a string (with your eyes closed) to create a body shape using
2B pencil on A4. Add some features to turn it into an animal.
• Get inspired by the example zentangles and create your own in
your visual diary in 2x2 cm squares.
• Fill the different areas of the creature with zentangles using black
fineliner.

19. DRAWING PRACTICES

20. REALISTIC ANIMAL
DRAWING
• Today practice drawing animals from an image (without
instruction)
• Draw the animal provided to you by the teacher. You will have
30 minutes for this task. Use a 2B pencil and A4
21. RESEARCH ANIMAL PHOTOS
CREATE A PIC COLLAGE
• Criteria for photos:
• Close-up of the head of animal, not
whole body
• Photos need to be sharp (high
resolution) and have lots of detail.
• Edit your photos in black and white; it
should have good contrast (light and
dark areas)
• Select 4 photos and put them in a Pic
Collage and annotate (=explain what
you like for each photo and which
you prefer!)
• Email the Pic Collage to your teacher
before the duedate.
• Make sure to provide your name and
class in the Pic collage!
22. CHARCOAL PRACTICE
• In your visual diary create
a page on which you use
charcoal.
• Draw some different lines
• Use a paper stump to
create a shade
• Use a kneedable rubber
on a shaded area and
create a highlight. The
rubber will pick up the
charcoal particles.
23. ANIMAL PORTAIT
• Start sketching basic shapes
lightly on A3 paper within
A4 size frame
• Correct or redefine areas
before moving to next step
• Focus on big areas, then
detail
• Use charcoal, kneedable
rubber and paperstump
• Use darker materials and
high light areas with white
