Patterns and textures
Divide a page in your sketchbook page into four boxes and find different patterns that relate
to your cultural past. If you do not have anything that is relevant then choose other
patterns that you find on ceramics, textiles or images within your home.
Copy each pattern into a different quarter. Try to use a range of materials for example,
pencil, paint, collage or draw with biro into kitchen foil.... Be creative in your choice of
materials.
Grade 2
Four, carefully copied
patterns showing different
tones and shades of colour.
Grade 3
At least one media that
involves painting or collage.
Media must still be used to
create an accurate copy of
the chosen pattern.
Grade 4
High level of detail, four
ambitious media (wet and
dry). Work is annotated
with the significance of the
pattern chosen.
