CDO Rating
Another reason nobody believed Michael Burry and Steve Eisman was because of the fraudulent
economic activity taking place in the rating agencies. The biggest criminal act performed by the rating
agencies was misjudgements in their ratings of CDOs or collateralized debt obligations (Weisberg).
The CDOs were structured obligations, with several tranches of differing risk characteristics. The
senior tranche had first claim on the mortgage interest and principal paid by the subprime mortgages
in the mortgage pool backing each CDO issue (Poole). However, CDOs now are being used to take a
bunch of BBB and BB loans that didn t sell and repackaging them and turning it into a whole other
mortgage bond at 95% AAA rated by the rating agencies. This is ... Show more content on

However, that is not all that the rating agencies did to destroy the system. The rating agencies also did
not distinguish between thick file FICO scores and thin file FICO scores (Lewis). A thin file FICO
score, is a score of an investor that had not done much borrowing (Lewis). The file was thin because
the borrower hadn t done much borrowing. For example, immigrants who had never failed to repay a
debt, because they had never been giving a loan, often had surprisingly high thin file FICO scores
(Lewis). These people who had high thin file FICO scores became more useful to the banks from a
credit rigging point of view, but the initial mistake came by the rating agencies who failed to identify
this problem and fix it. Since these people have high FICO scores, then when put through Moody s
model helps the banks get the money to lend to poor thin file FICO score people who need the money
to buy a house

Aaron Burr s Disgrace in the Burr Conspiracy Essay
Aaron Burr had been Vice President during the first administration of Thomas Jefferson. In the
summer of 1804, Burr killed his rival Alexander Hamilton in a duel, an event that effectively ended
Burr s career in national politics. Three years later, he was on trial, charged with the capital crime of
treason by the government headed by Jefferson, his former partner in political office. Presiding over
the trial was John Marshall, Chief Justice of the United States. Finally, there was James Wilkinson,
general of the army, once Burr s associate and at trial his chief accuser. With these principal players,
the trial in the U.S. Circuit Court at Richmond was as much high political and personal drama as it
was a judicial proceeding

He continued to sound out potential backers for his military expedition. In western Pennsylvania,
hoping to enlist the support of influential Colonel Morgan and his two sons, Burr made the fatal
mistake of expressing plans which his host found shocking. Morgan wrote a letter to President
Jefferson summarizing his conversation with Burr, setting in motion the effort that would eventually
put an end to Burr s dreams and lead to his arrest and trial. (Linder, 2001)
In November a militia detachment caught up with Burr on the west bank of the Mississippi. Burr was
handed a letter from the Governor of Mississippi demanding his surrender. He responded to the letter
by denouncing Wilkinson whose perfidious conduct had completely frustrated his projects. The next
day Burr met with the Governor who convinced him to surrender. A grand jury in Washington
declared Burr not guilty of any crime or misdemeanor against the United States. The jury went on to
condemn the arrest, suggesting that it had given cause to the enemies of our glorious Constitution to
rejoice. (Landen, 2001) Once additional information about Burr s activities became known, a new
warrant was issued for his arrest in mid February. Burr was taken to Fort Stoddart for two weeks and
then sent by a nine man military guard on a one thousand mile horseback trip to Richmond, where he
would stand trial for treason.

My Lean Action Plan ( Lap )
Introduction: Your Lean Action Plan (LAP) It never ceases to amaze me, witnessing all of these
Fortune 500, even Fortune 100 and Fortune 50 companies reach such incredible heights. I mean
PEAK performances, all in the face of adversities and despite an intensely schizophrenic like, creative
environment. Meetings, in particular, seem to always be the FIRST that the company has ever held.
Not because they are inexperienced in holding meaningful conversations with likeminded individuals.
Instead, these meetings all seem like the first, because they are completely lacking in any sense of
direction. Honestly, I have felt as though they all file into a conference room, having no agenda, no
workflow and no organization whatsoever. They are, for all intents and purposes, just various people,
sitting in a conference room, making various contributions, in an almost random pattern, that typically
only ends with setting up another meeting for the following week. A meeting that is going to be held
in order to discuss what wasn t accomplished in this weeks Important meeting. Essentially, wasting
time, payroll and intellectual energy, all for the purposes of Having a Meeting ! Case in point: Shortly
after I made the step into joining a large Ad agency, I was assigned to head the digital account for a

Media Perception, Blair, Cameron, And Their First 100 Days
# Media Perception, Blair, Cameron, and their first 100 days. Personal Project Prologue In his second
inaugural speech, delivered on the 8th of May, 2015, David Cameron expressed his sentiment of the
achievements his government has made in his first term as prime minister. When I stood here five
years ago, our country was in the grip of an economic crisis. Five years on, Britain is so much
stronger. But the real opportunities lie ahead. His achievements may have been remarkable but my
question is: throughout this, what was the viewpoint of the media, and how will it respond to his
second term as PM? I will be analysing David Cameron s second term as Prime Minister, as this
allows the government to be more accountable[1] and of the different media perceptions of each Prime
Minister; in particular, the newspaper outlets. For unlike television or radio which are legally
circumscribed to be impartial and unprejudiced, newspaper s have no such constraint. The large
amounts of time and energy senior politicians devote to ingratiating themselves to them is indicative
of how influential these newspapers are capable of being. This is clearly seen even in the relatively
recent efforts made by David Cameron in meeting Rupert Murdoch, the proprietor of the News of the
World, The Times, and most famously, The Sun. An even more evident example presents itself during
the run up to the 1997 general election, when the newly elected prime minister, Tony Blair, from the

How Does Stephen Crane Use Irony In A Mystery Of Heroism
If one is a fan of irony, then Stephen Crane s work is worth the read. He uses irony for real life
situations to relate to his readers. In War is Kind Stephen Crane develops emotional connections with
the readers by using irony to comfort the families. In A Mystery of Heroism he gives us the
perspective of what being in the war is like. Stephen Crane uses irony in both A Mystery of Heroism,
and War is Kind to prove that he is opposed to the war by developing emotion s of the soldiers
families, viewing the soldiers perspective, and using figurative language towards all the wrong parts
of war.
First, Stephen Crane develops emotional connections with the readers by using irony to comfort the
families. He does so by repeating war is kind when in fact it is not. He is convincing ... Show more

To some people hearing that war may actually be kind from someone else could help people have
some sort of relief from it, helping him accomplish why he wrote the poem in the first place. There is
no doubt that he is opposed to war, however, he understands that some people need to at least believe
that what their special someone is doing is not all that bad. It would not only help the people at home
from worrying, but it could help the soldier from feeling bad for causing all the stress and worry.
In A Mystery of Heroism he gives the readers the perspective of what being in the war is like. Some

Analysis Of Open By Andre Agassi
Many youngsters can have a hard time understanding parents and other people who belong to elder
generations and the other way around. This can have something to do with the time we are born in and
our mentality along with our way of thinking. This may be the topic in the extract from Andre Agassi s
autobiography Open from 2009, where it focuses on the relationships between the generations. But
why exactly are the characters from the different generations having such a hard time understanding
each other? And why has Andre written this text? When analysing the text s style of writing, it is
interesting to look at the structure of it. The text has a very common structure that implies a by line
which is followed by the headline, Open. Subsequently ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can have something to do with how the culture is in Iran, where the 2nd and 3rd generation lived
and were brought up. The father is portrayed as a dominating person and Andre feels pressured by him
as it is portrait in the quote on P. 2 ll.118 123: But my son, he adds maybe they will make tennis an
Olympic sport once again, and my son will win a gold medal, and that will make up for it. a little extra
pressure to go with my everyday pressure. The father has high expectation and does not care if Andre
wants to be a tennis player, but since he could not he wants his child to, which Andre does not seem to
understand. He also talks rudely and aggressively towards Andre as it is portrayed on P. 4 ll.241 242:
startled, he yells, steps back, then shoots out his fist. And on P. 4 ll.246 249: My father stands over me,
scowling. What the fuck is the matter with you? Go to your room. He behaves very mean towards
Andre and the quotes show that the father has a very short temper. This may have something to do
with the way the father was brought up as we see on P.1 ll. 11 13: He says she nagged him when he
was a boy and often beat him. This quote shows that the father does some of the things his mother did

The World Theory, And This Term Basically Means
In the textbook, it mentions of a term called Carpentered World Theory and this term basically means
that it is a perception about how individual s at least most American individuals see things that are
shaped in a form of a rectangle unconsciously (Juang Matsumoto, Chapter 5, pg. 122). As for the
lecture notes, it mentions how our culture is used to seeing objects in a rectangle shape (Lecture
notes). Thus is true, we see rectangle shapes all the time while driving from place to place. For
example would be the rectangle shape highway signs that we notice while driving past them. Another
example would be the signs that say do not turn right on red; these signs are in the form of a rectangle.

In regards to the Mueller Lyer illusion, the textbook mentions how Rivers stated that most English saw
the two lines more differently than any other cultural groups such as India or New Guinea (Juang
Matsumoto, Chapter 5, pg. 122). I decided to try an experiment with the Mueller Lyer Illusion. I
decided to ask 3 close friends of mine that are typical Americans. All but one was fooled by this
illusion. Then, I decided to ask 3 friends of mine that are from a different culture, one of them lives in
Australia, one is Korean and one was Native American. My friend who lives in Australia was fooled
by this illusion, whereas the Korean and Native American friend of mine stated it was the same length
but the arrows were oppositely flipped. I thought this was extremely interesting how each culture was
either fooled or not fooled by this illusion. This proves to show that cultures could in fact view optical
illusions differently because of either how they were raised or how they see the world in a different
light than others in views on how they interpret objects. In regards to the recognition of objects within
a visual scene there are uniquely clear differences between Americans and Japanese individuals.
According to the textbook, it mentions how Masuda and Nisbett (2001) did a research study that asked
Japanese and Americans to view an animated scene and then to recall how many objects were within
that scene and how they found that there was

Lego Mindstorm Research Paper
The Lego Mindstorms series of kits contain software and hardware to create customizable,
programmable robots. They include an intelligent brick computer that controls the system, a set of
modular sensors and motors, and Lego parts from the Technic line to create the mechanical systems.
The hardware and software roots of the Mindstorms Robotics Invention System kit go back to the
programmable brick created at the MIT Media Lab. This brick was programmed in Brick Logo. The
first visual programming environment was called LEGOsheets,[1] since it was created by the
University of Colorado in 1994 based on AgentSheets.

The version sold through LEGO Education is designed for a deeper level of learning or teaching that
often happens in a classroom or school setting. The LEGO Education version comes with support
called the Robot Educator. This includes 48 tutorials to walk the learner through the basics of coding
to more sophisticated and complex concepts such as data logging. This resource to support the learner
and/or educator are not included in the retail version of Mindstorm. It s always a good idea to reach
out to a LEGO Education consultant to inquire of other differences as there are several more. The
retail version was designed for more of a home/toy use vs the educator model was designed to support
deeper learning with extra resources and pieces to do so. This is why the LEGO Education Mindstorm
contains more sensors and parts than the retail version.
Mindstorms is named after the book Mindstorms: Children, Computers, and Powerful Ideas by
Seymour Papert.[5]
The latest system, called the Lego Mindstorms EV3, was released on September 1, 2014.

The Case Study of Bookoff, Amazon Japan, and the Japanese Retail Bookselling Industry
Una Hu
1 Why is the profitability of large Japanese retail booksellers relatively poor and their scale relatively
small?
According to the case, stagnation in sales along with the steady increase of costs over time has
reduced the profitability of both large chains and small stores (Peng 2009, p. 391). There are several
reasons that results in the relatively poor profitability of large Japanese retail booksellers and their
small scale.
Firstly, the Saihan system, i.e. Resale Price Maintenance, is the most important factor. The system s
price fixing policy rules out the price competition (Peng 2009, p. 390), which would be a normal

387 395). The large number of bookstores is competing with each other for similar products with
similar price. In addition, the Japanese retail bookselling industry has already become an oversaturated
market nowadays (Peng 2009, p. 391). Therefore, the rivalry among retail bookstores becomes fairly
intense under this circumstance.
Also, it is almost certain that potential new entrants can be threatening, owing to the weak competitive
power of existing bookstores, to be more specific, their small scale (Peng 2009, pp. 387), i.e. little
economies of scale (Peng 2009, p. 37), the lack of uniqueness in their products with similar price
(Peng 2009, pp. 390), i.e. shortage of non scale based advantages (Peng 2009, p. 37). In addition, the
scarcity of entry barriers set by the Japanese government is another factor (Higuchi 2007). Entry
barriers are advantages that incumbents have relative to new entrants. (Porter 2008)
Additionally, the number of publishers and wholesalers is relatively small compared with the
bookstores. Therefore, these distributors have high bargaining power, i.e. they have the choice to favor
larger book retailers over small ones because of the Consignment Sale System, i.e. they can obtain
higher profit due to larger retailer s lower return rate (Peng 2009, pp. 388 389).

Partnership is an arrangement between the parties and cooperates to carry on the business with mutual

1) The business should be continuous; it should be carried on in days to come. The transactions should
be carried on and repetitive actions should be implemented. According to Smith v Anderson [1880]15
Ch D 247, Brett J held that, the expression carrying on implies a repetition of acts and excludes the
case of an association formed for doing one particular acts and excludes the case of an association

Metaphors In Their Eyes Were Watching God
This novel is the story of Janie Crawford s quest for love, told, as noted prior, as a casing. The novel
Their Eyes Were Watching God, presents numerous topics, for example, love and marriage, discourse

Effects Of Physical Activity On Academic Performance
It is well known that exercise and physical activity have myriad positive effects and benefits on a
person s physical health. A similar concept to think about is the relationship between physical activity
and mental health, specifically academic performance. Through my research of studies, trials, and
reviews I believe that physical activity has a positive effect on academic performance, leading to
higher grade point averages, achievement in post compulsory education, and learning. To look at the
effects of physical activity on academic performance, researchers Kari, Pehkonen, Nen, Raitakari, and
Tammelin conducted a longitudinal study entitled, Longitudinal Associations between Physical
Activity and Educational Outcomes, examining physical activity performed in leisure time outside of
school affected academic achievement throughout basic education and education obtained in
adulthood. The study looked at Finnish male and female children ages 12 and 15, and continued
collecting data until the subjects reached their 40s. The participants self reported their physical activity
in overall leisure time outside school hours, participation in sports club training sessions, and
participation in sports competitions. Academic performance was measured in the form of the grade

that physical activity in childhood positively affected the educational outcome of their subjects. They

How I Learned Throughout The Semester And Why It Helped Me...
My journey through this semester was very knowledgeable and interesting experience. From learning
about musical techniques and applying it to my songwriting process, it helped me become a better
songwriter. Throughout this reflection, I want to discuss the things I learned throughout the semester
and why it helped my as a songwriter.
Before taking this course, I used to just sing my songs, but never used to write them down.
Throughout, the course I learned that it s important to work on your songs even if it s working on part
of it. Taking time to improve you songs is already a step forward. Starting from lesson two, I learned
the importance of having a strong premise. I found this very useful because then you have an idea of
what your song is going to be about. You start thinking of emotion and storyline you want to write in
the lyrics. For example, if you premise is about heartbreak, then the lyrics will be about a relationship,
with maybe a sad piano accompaniment. Another interesting thing I learned about lesson two was the
articles we read about techniques for finding ways to be inspired when writing a song. The article that
was very useful was Finding Inspiration. From this article, a technique that I found useful was to write
music about yourself or experiences. I found this to be a common thing for songwriters, according to
the book we read In their Own Words, which was very interesting to read, I found that most of the
famous songwriters, for example Dolly

the that didn t have access to basic health care. This resulted in a new non profit organization with the
founders serving as the board of directors. During the first years when the clinic was getting the
business off the ground, their mission was to serve all comers and not to turn anyone away, regardless
of their financial situation (Buchbinder, p. 441). The clinic has been providing free services for a very
long time; however, the patient volume and the complexity of the organization has increased in the
recent years. The clinic no longer has as many volunteers as they used to have as when they first
started their mission, and the organization has experienced some significant changes that don t allow
them to provide services for free. At this time the original founders of the clinic have stepped down
from their leadership role and decided to hire a new administrator with some experience in
management, to provide the board members with a proposal on how to handle this issue. The board of
directors would like for the new administrator to address three areas of particular

Thrasymachus Plato Justice Quotes
For years, philosophers have tried to define justice. In Plato s The Republic, Plato discusses the
equality of the sexes, abolition of family, rule by philosophers, life and while doing so, attempts to
describe what justice is. In Book I, the search for the answer to what is just is set up through
discussion done mostly by Socrates, Cephalus, Polemarchus and Thrasymachus. Thrasymachus
contributes to this conversation by establishing what he thinks justice means, especially in regards to
government and law. Thrasymachus argues that justice is the advantage of the stronger (Plato 338c).
Through discussion with Socrates, who opposes this view, Thrasymachus offers his definition and
explanation of the argument. I believe that though Thrasymachus s ... Show more content on

Socrates maps out how ruling aims to benefit the ruled and not the ruler, thus meaning that
Thrasymachus s argument that justice is in the advantage of the ruler is false. Socrates demonstrates
this point by explaining how he sees every craft to as having a particular aim. To clarify, he gives the
example of a doctor being a person who cares for the sick over a money maker, and a pilot being a
ruler of sailors over just a sailor (Plato 341d). In even further detail, the art of medicine has been
developed because the body is defective, and it is an art that s purpose is to provide what is
advantageous to the body. Socrates says, medicine doesn t consider the advantage of medicine, but of
the body (Plato 342c). It follows that if ruling is a craft, it would aim to benefit those who are being
ruled and not the ruler. Socrates goes as far as to say that because the ruler rules for the ruled and not
for himself, there is no ruler who considers his advantage before those of the ruled and he will do
everything for the advantage of the ruled (Plato 342f). Looking at this refutation that sees ruling as a
craft, Thrasymachus s argument that justice is in the advantage of who rules is clearly

Comparing Race And La Raza Cosmica
The Readings The Race by José Martí and La Raza Cosmica by José Vasconcelos explored the deep
analysis of races and how they function in society. Martí explained anti racism, and his specific life
experiences that led him to the beliefs he has. Vasconcelos similarly took a different approach on race
and explained the idea that culture plays an immense role in how a society functions and the lasting
impact it has for the future. Both works express a deep understanding of race, and the ideology behind
races. My Race by José Martí, explains how anti racism shaped by his life experiences led him to
write this. His belief is stated clearly that he wants Cuba specifically to be home to both blacks and
whites. Similarly, he then explains how people died for Cuba, not just blacks, or whites, or mulattos
but people within the Cuban community died for this place. In addition, Martí explains that there are
not whites or blacks, there are Cubans. Within that race are a group of people who want to liberate ...

How to Plan a Family Vacation
A penny saved is a penny earned. A job worth doing is worth doing right. We apply both of these

Like most people, I look forward to a vacation, but planning it can become overwhelming if you re not

families due to economic distress, but as little as a few hundred dollars you can plan a weekend

Consider your finances and what you re willing to spend. After deciding on what weekend you ll be
leaving, finding a place to stay is the next thing to plan. Most places fill up early. Make hotel, car and
other reservations as soon as you can. Quality and prices vary with each hotel. Some rates are as low
as $30 a night, while some rates are as high as $200 a night or more. Picking a room that s not in a
scenic area or without a view is usually cheaper. Each hotel offers different rates and quality. More
expensive places offer kitchenettes, suites, fireplaces, heated pools, and more. Search online for
coupon codes, AAA, AARP, Military or Government discounts. For the least expensive trip, you could
plan a camping trip in a state park, but for some that would mean a larger expense of purchasing tents,
sleeping bags and camping gear. Unless you re prepared for a camping trip, plan to stay in a hotel or
cabin.
Have a checklist prepared when packing for your trip. Know what the climate will be during the times
that you re there. Know what days or nights you ll need formal clothing, casual clothing, or swimwear.
Make sure that you pack so you re not buying needed things that you may already have at home.
Consider the amount of luggage you re taking in case you ll be flying. Pack things such as moist
towlettes, money, passports, medicine and sunglasses. Consider small children when traveling as they

Literary Interpretation In The Storm By Kate Chopin
The Storm by Kate Chopin
The entire setting of the story The Storm by Kate Chopin is an accurate reflection of an adulterous
situation. It employs the symbol The Storm to portray an exact circumstance that acknowledges the
existence of unfaithfulness through adultery. The story took place in the period 1800s and gives a clear
account of an affair that constituted Calixta who was the protective mother to Bibi and the wife to
Bobinot, Alcee, the husband to Clarisse. The relationship among the people above took place at the
prime time when there existed a violent rainstorm. As such, the depiction of the rainstorm does not
give an account of a particular coincidence that occurred behind the whole scene but represents an
external influence through which the proximity of the narration and the affair appeared
simultaneously. The narrative begins with the storm occurrence, reaches its peak and ceases, so
happens in paradox along with the relationship and the story.
The whole scene is a true tale and a replication of a how females were sexually burdened in the 19th
century period under the notion of male chauvinism and superiority. It also explicates women
discovery of their rights and freedom over their body and relations. In that light, the story marks the
end of female oppression and a transition for transformation on the female gender. Mainly, Kate s
literary work comprises of the content that happened at the particular time of the century and the

Scurvy
Scurvy is the state of Vitamin C deficiency. As the human body cannot produce vitamin C, serum
levels of this vitamin are solely dependent on dietary intake mainly from vegetables and fruits.
Vitamin C has an essential role in collagen formation of skin, gums, bones, and mucus membranes. It
also protects DNA, protein, and vessel walls from damage. Although scurvy is thought to be very rare
nowadays, it still can be found in elderly, college students and children who maintain poor diet on
daily basis . In general, it takes around 3 months for symptoms and signs to appear, ranging from

One study in the UK showed that in 2008 the weighted prevalence of low levels of Vitamin C (s
history and clinical examination are powerful tools to reach to an accurate diagnosis. However, it may
be difficult to reach to the diagnosis of scurvy especially when common symptoms are absent. The
classical findings in scurvy are swollen gums and gingival bleeding and those were not present in this
case. In fact, some studies reported rare manifestations of scurvy such a patient that initially presented
with anorexia nervosa and was eventually diagnosed with scurvy. In two separate case reports, scurvy
patients were admitted to a hospital after presenting with orthostatic hypotension and hematochezia.
The patient on this case report presented with perifollicular hemorrhages and ecchymoses on his lower
extremities, and despite poor dental hygiene, he did not have gingival hypertrophy, and denied gum
bleeding. In a similar report, a 38 year old male presented with knee pain, easy bruising but had
gingival bleeding, which may have suggested a more clear suspicion of Vitamin C deficiency, and
another presentation reported a 54 year old female with similar presentation as our patient but who

The Education System Of Saudi Arabia, Us, And World Economy
Report for 2014 states that there are more than 110,000 Saudi students enrolled in American

attributed by the fact that thirteen of the top universities in the world are in the United States whereas
the education system in Saudi Arabia is still in a developmental stage.

Discussion
The conditions in universities accepting international students need considerable attention. The reason
students go abroad to study is very clear through world class education, these students will turn into
valuable human assets of their country. They benefit their host country financially, contributing the
largest portion of the billions of dollars earned by the US each academic year (Wilson, 2011).
Internationalization of students also promote global understanding by adding cultural diversity to
campuses, and by facilitating better relations between the US and their home country. On the other
hand, completing a four or five year degree in an unfamiliar environment, and being exposed to an
education system that is very distinct from the one they are used to, do not come about easily for the
Saudi students.
Comparing the Education System between the US and Saudi Arabia The differences in the education
system implemented in the US and Saudi Arabia can be best compared by discussing the role of their
governments in education, and the academic cultures that the students from these two countries are

Is Lady Macbeth A Monster
Is She a Monster?
One of the main characters in The Tragedy of Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, has always been an object of
intense criticism. She is sometimes regarded to as cruel and abhorrent, but there is indication that
Shakespeare did not intend for her to be regarded so harshly. By assessing her character in relation to
her actions, we can see that Shakespeare possibly wanted Lady Macbeth to be judged by association
with Macbeth. What appears to be ruthlessness is really her dedication to her husband. Macbeth
desperately wants the throne, so Lady Macbeth does too. All her actions are done to get her husband,
as well as herself, on the throne.

Shortly after having Banquo slain, Macbeth believes he sees his ghost. He begins to speak to the
ghost, which is not perceptible to the others. Realizing that her spouse might say something linking
him with the murders of Duncan and Banquo, Lady Macbeth makes justifications for his behavior. She
says to the lords, My lord is often thus, / And hath been from his youth. Pray you, keep seat. / The fit
is momentary; (III.iv.53 55). She attempts to hide her husband s insanity while also standing up for
him. The death of Lady Macbeth is vital in understanding her mental ailment. At the commencement
of the play she appeared to be unyielding and insensitive to all feelings, but as the play progressed her
morality continued to overcome her. She wears down to a point where she is disheartened, and feels
the only answer is suicide. This self destruction shows that Lady Macbeth has emotions, and qualms

not intended to be thought of in that way. Her demise is proof that she has a sense of right and wrong,
and that she possesses a sense of grief and

Schizophrenia In The Fisher King
The Fisher King is a complex movie that follows a narcissistic radio host named Jack Lucas and a
homeless man named Parry. Throughout the movie, I frequently felt overwhelmed by the complex
nature of both Jack and Parry s behavior. Although their behaviors are very different, both characters
are complex individual s that are often tough to follow. The movie portrays Jack s narcissistic
personality disorder, as well as depression and illustrates the tolling effect depression has on an
individual, especially after feeling on top of the world. Additionally, the movie illustrates Parry s

Blues Music In Sterling Brown s Ma Rainey
In Sterling Brown s Ma Rainey, Brown describes the significance of blues music in rural black
culture. Using dialect and rhythm, Brown manages to show the way blues music reaches its intended
audience without breaking from the language said audience would use to describe this. In this way,
Brown creates a poem which does not simply describe its subject, but celebrates it fully, and
associates itself not with white literature describing black Americans but with what could be called
black American literature. Brown s poem is in exactly the style Langston Hughes advocates for in The
Negro Artist and the Racial Mountain; praising rather than neglecting black American culture, using
aspects which may be considered oddities in comparison to Nordic ... Show more content on

The blues singer in Ma Rainey has an almost mystical quality to her as she manages to soothe
everyone for miles aroun (Brown, Stanza I, line 4) with her songs. Hughes mentions the richness jazz
and blues add to lower class black culture, and how the middle and upper class black Americans tend
to turn away from blues as a signifier of the race they wish to leave behind. Brown celebrates blues as
a way of connecting people, and of giving them something to hold onto as they battle the hardships
associated with not being white in America. While those who wish to be white spurn blues music as
too black, Brown proves in his poem that blues is an essential way of bringing people together. He
paints a picture of its immense impact when he describes the listeners crying together as Ma Rainey
sings. This, in turn, serves as a call to other black artists to stop trying to break away from their race,
as it invokes a sense of belonging. All the people who come watch Ma Rainey sing belong to a
community of rural black Americans, and from this community they do face adversity, yet scenes like
the one described in Ma Rainey show that there is also a positive takeaway from being a part of it. In
the earlier mentioned segment from the third stanza, Brown s use of direct address sets up Ma Rainey
as an omniscient, almost godlike figure. The speaker, and presumably the reader included in the
speaker s us, can look to her for solace amidst their struggle. Brown implies that those who look to
their own culture may find meaning in it, which speaks to Hughes invocation for artists to Let the
blare of Negro jazz bands and the bellowing voice of Bessie Smith singing the Blues penetrate the
closed ears of the colored near intellectuals until they listen and perhaps understand,

  • 2. CDO Rating Another reason nobody believed Michael Burry and Steve Eisman was because of the fraudulent economic activity taking place in the rating agencies. The biggest criminal act performed by the rating agencies was misjudgements in their ratings of CDOs or collateralized debt obligations (Weisberg). The CDOs were structured obligations, with several tranches of differing risk characteristics. The senior tranche had first claim on the mortgage interest and principal paid by the subprime mortgages in the mortgage pool backing each CDO issue (Poole). However, CDOs now are being used to take a bunch of BBB and BB loans that didn t sell and repackaging them and turning it into a whole other mortgage bond at 95% AAA rated by the rating agencies. This is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, that is not all that the rating agencies did to destroy the system. The rating agencies also did not distinguish between thick file FICO scores and thin file FICO scores (Lewis). A thin file FICO score, is a score of an investor that had not done much borrowing (Lewis). The file was thin because the borrower hadn t done much borrowing. For example, immigrants who had never failed to repay a debt, because they had never been giving a loan, often had surprisingly high thin file FICO scores (Lewis). These people who had high thin file FICO scores became more useful to the banks from a credit rigging point of view, but the initial mistake came by the rating agencies who failed to identify this problem and fix it. Since these people have high FICO scores, then when put through Moody s model helps the banks get the money to lend to poor thin file FICO score people who need the money to buy a house ... • 3. Aaron Burr s Disgrace in the Burr Conspiracy Essay Aaron Burr had been Vice President during the first administration of Thomas Jefferson. In the summer of 1804, Burr killed his rival Alexander Hamilton in a duel, an event that effectively ended Burr s career in national politics. Three years later, he was on trial, charged with the capital crime of treason by the government headed by Jefferson, his former partner in political office. Presiding over the trial was John Marshall, Chief Justice of the United States. Finally, there was James Wilkinson, general of the army, once Burr s associate and at trial his chief accuser. With these principal players, the trial in the U.S. Circuit Court at Richmond was as much high political and personal drama as it was a judicial proceeding The Burr ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He continued to sound out potential backers for his military expedition. In western Pennsylvania, hoping to enlist the support of influential Colonel Morgan and his two sons, Burr made the fatal mistake of expressing plans which his host found shocking. Morgan wrote a letter to President Jefferson summarizing his conversation with Burr, setting in motion the effort that would eventually put an end to Burr s dreams and lead to his arrest and trial. (Linder, 2001) In November a militia detachment caught up with Burr on the west bank of the Mississippi. Burr was handed a letter from the Governor of Mississippi demanding his surrender. He responded to the letter by denouncing Wilkinson whose perfidious conduct had completely frustrated his projects. The next day Burr met with the Governor who convinced him to surrender. A grand jury in Washington declared Burr not guilty of any crime or misdemeanor against the United States. The jury went on to condemn the arrest, suggesting that it had given cause to the enemies of our glorious Constitution to rejoice. (Landen, 2001) Once additional information about Burr s activities became known, a new warrant was issued for his arrest in mid February. Burr was taken to Fort Stoddart for two weeks and then sent by a nine man military guard on a one thousand mile horseback trip to Richmond, where he would stand trial for treason. Article ... • 4. My Lean Action Plan ( Lap ) Introduction: Your Lean Action Plan (LAP) It never ceases to amaze me, witnessing all of these Fortune 500, even Fortune 100 and Fortune 50 companies reach such incredible heights. I mean PEAK performances, all in the face of adversities and despite an intensely schizophrenic like, creative environment. Meetings, in particular, seem to always be the FIRST that the company has ever held. Not because they are inexperienced in holding meaningful conversations with likeminded individuals. Instead, these meetings all seem like the first, because they are completely lacking in any sense of direction. Honestly, I have felt as though they all file into a conference room, having no agenda, no workflow and no organization whatsoever. They are, for all intents and purposes, just various people, sitting in a conference room, making various contributions, in an almost random pattern, that typically only ends with setting up another meeting for the following week. A meeting that is going to be held in order to discuss what wasn t accomplished in this weeks Important meeting. Essentially, wasting time, payroll and intellectual energy, all for the purposes of Having a Meeting ! Case in point: Shortly after I made the step into joining a large Ad agency, I was assigned to head the digital account for a major home improvement store. I will spare you the details, only to tell you that you know them. In fact, I wouldn t be the least bit surprised to hear that you shopped there last ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Media Perception, Blair, Cameron, And Their First 100 Days # Media Perception, Blair, Cameron, and their first 100 days. Personal Project Prologue In his second inaugural speech, delivered on the 8th of May, 2015, David Cameron expressed his sentiment of the achievements his government has made in his first term as prime minister. When I stood here five years ago, our country was in the grip of an economic crisis. Five years on, Britain is so much stronger. But the real opportunities lie ahead. His achievements may have been remarkable but my question is: throughout this, what was the viewpoint of the media, and how will it respond to his second term as PM? I will be analysing David Cameron s second term as Prime Minister, as this allows the government to be more accountable[1] and of the different media perceptions of each Prime Minister; in particular, the newspaper outlets. For unlike television or radio which are legally circumscribed to be impartial and unprejudiced, newspaper s have no such constraint. The large amounts of time and energy senior politicians devote to ingratiating themselves to them is indicative of how influential these newspapers are capable of being. This is clearly seen even in the relatively recent efforts made by David Cameron in meeting Rupert Murdoch, the proprietor of the News of the World, The Times, and most famously, The Sun. An even more evident example presents itself during the run up to the 1997 general election, when the newly elected prime minister, Tony Blair, from the U.K to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Case Study of Bookoff, Amazon Japan, and the Japanese Retail Bookselling Industry Una Hu 1 Why is the profitability of large Japanese retail booksellers relatively poor and their scale relatively small? According to the case, stagnation in sales along with the steady increase of costs over time has reduced the profitability of both large chains and small stores (Peng 2009, p. 391). There are several reasons that results in the relatively poor profitability of large Japanese retail booksellers and their small scale. The large number of bookstores is competing with each other for similar products with similar price. In addition, the Japanese retail bookselling industry has already become an oversaturated market nowadays (Peng 2009, p. 391). Therefore, the rivalry among retail bookstores becomes fairly intense under this circumstance. Also, it is almost certain that potential new entrants can be threatening, owing to the weak competitive power of existing bookstores, to be more specific, their small scale (Peng 2009, pp. 387), i.e. little economies of scale (Peng 2009, p. 37), the lack of uniqueness in their products with similar price (Peng 2009, pp. 390), i.e. shortage of non scale based advantages (Peng 2009, p. 37). In addition, the scarcity of entry barriers set by the Japanese government is another factor (Higuchi 2007). Entry barriers are advantages that incumbents have relative to new entrants. (Porter 2008) Additionally, the number of publishers and wholesalers is relatively small compared with the bookstores. Therefore, these distributors have high bargaining power, i.e. they have the choice to favor larger book retailers over small ones because of the Consignment Sale System, i.e. they can obtain higher profit due to larger retailer s lower return rate (Peng 2009, pp. 388 389). Starting from lesson two, I learned the importance of having a strong premise. I found this very useful because then you have an idea of what your song is going to be about. You start thinking of emotion and storyline you want to write in the lyrics. For example, if you premise is about heartbreak, then the lyrics will be about a relationship, with maybe a sad piano accompaniment. In even further detail, the art of medicine has been developed because the body is defective, and it is an art that s purpose is to provide what is advantageous to the body. Socrates says, medicine doesn t consider the advantage of medicine, but of the body (Plato 342c). It follows that if ruling is a craft, it would aim to benefit those who are being ruled and not the ruler. Socrates goes as far as to say that because the ruler rules for the ruled and not for himself, there is no ruler who considers his advantage before those of the ruled and he will do everything for the advantage of the ruled (Plato 342f). • 29. Literary Interpretation In The Storm By Kate Chopin The Storm by Kate Chopin The entire setting of the story The Storm by Kate Chopin is an accurate reflection of an adulterous situation. It employs the symbol The Storm to portray an exact circumstance that acknowledges the existence of unfaithfulness through adultery. The story took place in the period 1800s and gives a clear account of an affair that constituted Calixta who was the protective mother to Bibi and the wife to Bobinot, Alcee, the husband to Clarisse. The relationship among the people above took place at the prime time when there existed a violent rainstorm. As such, the depiction of the rainstorm does not give an account of a particular coincidence that occurred behind the whole scene but represents an external influence through which the proximity of the narration and the affair appeared simultaneously. The narrative begins with the storm occurrence, reaches its peak and ceases, so happens in paradox along with the relationship and the story. The whole scene is a true tale and a replication of a how females were sexually burdened in the 19th century period under the notion of male chauvinism and superiority. It also explicates women discovery of their rights and freedom over their body and relations. In that light, the story marks the end of female oppression and a transition for transformation on the female gender. Just figure out what s next. Summary: This quote by Steve Jobs, cofounder of Apple, really sticks out in my mind. In my opinion, it talks about egos and work ethics business workers should have. It is an example people in general should follow. The quote is saying, if you do a good job on something, like an assignment or a task, you should waste your time seizing the moment for too long. If you did well on that one thing, you can do something great on something else. Continue that cycle and you ll do great all the time. Evolution of Importance: This quote explains my values as a worker and a student perfectly. I am not one to dwell off the good things I have done in the past, I try to do good things all the time. The classical findings in scurvy are swollen gums and gingival bleeding and those were not present in this case. In fact, some studies reported rare manifestations of scurvy such a patient that initially presented with anorexia nervosa and was eventually diagnosed with scurvy. In two separate case reports, scurvy patients were admitted to a hospital after presenting with orthostatic hypotension and hematochezia. She is sometimes regarded to as cruel and abhorrent, but there is indication that Shakespeare did not intend for her to be regarded so harshly. By assessing her character in relation to her actions, we can see that Shakespeare possibly wanted Lady Macbeth to be judged by association with Macbeth. What appears to be ruthlessness is really her dedication to her husband. Macbeth desperately wants the throne, so Lady Macbeth does too. Using dialect and rhythm, Brown manages to show the way blues music reaches its intended audience without breaking from the language said audience would use to describe this. In this way, Brown creates a poem which does not simply describe its subject, but celebrates it fully, and associates itself not with white literature describing black Americans but with what could be called black American literature. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The blues singer in Ma Rainey has an almost mystical quality to her as she manages to soothe everyone for miles aroun (Brown, Stanza I, line 4) with her songs. Hughes mentions the richness jazz and blues add to lower class black culture, and how the middle and upper class black Americans tend to turn away from blues as a signifier of the race they wish to leave behind. Brown celebrates blues as a way of connecting people, and of giving them something to hold onto as they battle the hardships associated with not being white in America. While those who wish to be white spurn blues music as too black, Brown proves in his poem that blues is an essential way of bringing people together. He paints a picture of its immense impact when he describes the listeners crying together as Ma Rainey sings. This, in turn, serves as a call to other black artists to stop trying to break away from their race, as it invokes a sense of belonging. All the people who come watch Ma Rainey sing belong to a community of rural black Americans, and from this community they do face adversity, yet scenes like the one described in Ma Rainey show that there is also a positive takeaway from being a part of it. In the earlier mentioned segment from the third stanza, Brown s use of direct address sets up Ma Rainey as an omniscient, almost godlike figure. The speaker, and presumably the reader included in the speaker s us, can look to her for solace amidst their struggle. Brown implies that those who look to their own culture may find meaning in it, which speaks to Hughes invocation for artists to Let the blare of Negro jazz bands and the bellowing voice of Bessie Smith singing the Blues penetrate the closed ears of the colored near intellectuals until they listen and perhaps understand, ...
