The document analyzes audience research conducted for a film noir project. A survey was sent to 12 people and 10 responses were received. Most respondents preferred action and adventure films. The research showed that while audiences were familiar with action genres, some were unfamiliar with film noir. This suggests the filmmakers should raise awareness of the noir genre. The research also helped the filmmakers decide on including mysterious characters and plot twists in the film. Most respondents preferred the film to be aimed at ages 15 and up. Common props like guns and cars fit well within the noir genre. The research provided useful insights into audience preferences that the filmmakers will consider for their project.
Here I have discussed the age restriction our film would be given based on the BBFC post and how they decide the age limits on new film releases. Also, I have included the reasons as to why our film would fit into the age limit given.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.
1. Analysis of audience research
To start off my audience research I created a questionnaire, this ensured that I
got real representation of results back from different audiences. I sent the survey
to 12 people and got 10 responses.
The first question we asked was which
film genre do you prefer. As you can see
from our results most of the audience
preferred to watch action and adventure
films. We are creating a film noir film but
three of the participants questioned me
to ask what a noir film was. We feel the
need to raise awareness for our noir
films, as the audience need a wider
range of films to choose from. There are more action genres for the audience to
watch, which means the audience has been given a specific genre to watch and
therefor will choose the one they most know about. Action genres are also
popular with the audience; this could be incorporated into our noir film as action
scenes are needed to make it more watchable and exciting. 18.2% of the
audience choose comedy. As noirs are serious action films it would be difficult to
incorporate comedy into a noir film.
The result back from the audience has helped
us to figure out which character we must we
must create. As we were struggling between
a mysterious character or a revealing female
(Femme Fatale), this result has made us
choose to use a mysterious woman character.
Not many people liked hero’s to be an option;
this is a good result as we have a half hero
half bad guy, who is the investigator in our film. A convention of noir is that we
have an anti-hero who despite being our main protagonist has their flaws.
Half of the audience choose aged 15 for a film,
which means that our film would be best to aim
for the 15 upwards audience. To make sure our
film will be the correct context for our audience
target we will need to check what is suitable to
be shown. The next choice that the people choose
was an 18, but we would like to aim to have a
wider range of audience so that more people can experience the noir genre.
As shown by the audience’s results they most
like to have a plot twist in the film. We have a
plot twist within our film so this will meet the
demands of most of the audience. Meeting the
demand might make sure that more people will
2. want to watch a noir type film. Another popular answer was narrative told in
chronological order and this means that the audience would like to see every
thing happening in the order it should, with no confusion to throw them of how
is to blame for certain things in the film. Our film will also show a flashback as
the narrator is telling the story to what has happened through his life.
The audience has stated that they like to see
props such as guns, fake blood, cigarettes, and
cars. The most popular ones are guns and cars;
this is great feedback to hear, as a noir film must
have these props to be a realistic noir film from
that time it has came from. Cigarettes are the
least popular prop which could mean the
audience does not like to see people smoking
but they like the effect it gives so they know what type of personality the
character has. So to deal with the smoking we could imply that they smoke but
never show that they take any smoke in.
We asked our audience about how they
would like the titles to show up in the
opening of the film.
Some of the audience did not understand
this question, although they answered it
the best they could. The most popular
answer was ‘All together’ and this would
mean that most of the opening sequence
would be full of the cast and crew all at once. This may not be the best title’s to
use, as the audience would not be drawn in straight away. The second best
choice was continuously and this means we can slowly introduce the cast and
director without drawing all of the attention away from the scene going on in the
background.
From collecting all the audiences’ research we will take on board some of the
most popular things that were chosen by them. We understand that the
audiences have expectations for they types of films they like to see. Although
they might like to stick with the same genre we would like to challenge their film
boundaries.
