The document discusses feedback received from a questionnaire distributed to the target audience for a trailer. It shows that the audience provided useful feedback on what they expected and wanted to see. This feedback did not indicate wanting a certain scene, but that they wanted to be surprised by different aspects. The feedback also helped the group think about how to make their trailer stand out from others in the genre that the audience prefers, and how themes might differ based on the ages of respondents.
1. This screen shot of the data collected from our
questionnaire carried out on survey monkey, shows
directly on who we should direct our trailer
towards.
Creating a questionnaire enabled use to have a
very strong idea on what the audience expect
and want to see in our trailer. So therefore when
we gained our audience feedback we did not
receive answers such as the audience expected a
certain sort of scene to happen or shot, but rather
we wished to surprise them with a different aspect
to our trailer.
Question 3 enabled us to think outside the
box. With us knowing what our target
audiences favourite urban drama trailer is, it
made us think as a group, why is that their
chosen answer, we can we do to make it
similar and what can we do to make it stand
out for that trailer. So if we were to add our
trailer to list after, what would make them
choose our trailer other the real media texts.
Also with question 2, our respondents
would have had a huge impact on our
trailer. With the ages, if majority of
respondents were 18+, we would be
able to incorporate controversy l
themes based with urban dramas such
as Drugs and Violence in our trailer.
2. The previous slide shows, how I gathered various feedback from my target audience. I
did this through means of technology such as whatsapp and twitter, through this I
managed to gain feedback from different people and see what they thought about
my groups trailer. Furthermore from our audience feedback we gained two common
criticisms.
Two main criticism consisted of comments on the transitions between to the main songs
and the volume of specific dialogue. During our editing stages we had in mind the faults
that already lied in our trailer and tried to resolve it as much as possible. But as
according to our feedback, we did not resolve it enough.
The other main criticism was the font used for our typography, we subverted
against the norms of urban drama films having basic big bold fonts for their titles,
instead we used a more gritty font. However we now see how this has backfired,
as the audience suggest that they cannot really read the writing. As we placed a
gritty font on top of a gritty background, but instead we should have placed a
simple font on top of a gritty background as done in “Shank”.
3. In addition to that we have also learned that several elements have worked effectively
in our trailer. Numbers of people commented on how the backing track suited perfectly
with the genre of our trailer which was Urban Drama. As we carried out research and
planning we came across a continuous convention of upbeat grime/ dub step being
used for trailer, so we followed through and repeated this specific convention.
Additionally, the most successful feedback was about our unique selling point. This
made the audience want to watch it even more even though it was only a trailer. This Is
shown in the “whatsapp” messages, as respondents asked for a full movie and episodes.
