AUDIENCE QUESTIONSS
What do real audiences consume?
Best selling films of 2012.
1. The Dark Knight Rises.
2. The Hobbit.
3. The Avengers.
4. Brave.
5. The amazing spider-man.
These were the most ‘consumed’ films of 2012. audiences
mostly like actions films like batman, the hobbit, the
Avengers and Spiderman. Also Disney films are always
very popular. None of these films are individual
films, they are all made by very big production
company's.
Who are the specific audiences for
particular products?
Most action films are focused towards younger
generation below the age of 40. Rom coms are
mostly aimed at girl audiences. These are just
some example of what kind of films are aimed at
certain types of audiences.
How do media industries target
those audiences?
They use adverts to show people the films.
YouTube for example now hosts adverts, ty[ically
people who use YouTube are below the age of
30. It is common to find a lot of action and sci –fi
trailers on YouTube. You also find a lot of rom
com trailers on YouTube. Also depending on
what you watch on TV you will get different
adverts. If you are watvhing an action packed tv
programme the you are more likely to see an
action film trailer in the advert breaks.
Pitching the product to the rest of the group and
taking feedback, noting the responses from this
and deciding how to act as a result.
The main thing I found with our feedback is that everyone was unclear about the enigma code. The
majority of people left the box blank or didnt actually know what it was. Next time we do this we need
to make sure that the engima code is clear so that the audience knows what it is.
Out of all of the feedback the best part of it was the Name of the film and the cast section. Both of
these where highly praised in our feedback and the majority of people rated them both very highly. This
shows that our film was appealing because everyone like the title which would make people remember
the film and the cast made people excited about the film.
The section "is the film different?" Had mixed reviews most people didnt really know what to think of it.
Some people thought that it was a good idea and liked it but other thought that it reminded them of a
couple of other films. This may make us want to change the theme slightly because people may get
bored watching it. This wouldnt be good in the long run because no one will want to watch it and it will
no make any money.
Overall the film went down well and most people decided that they would buy the film rights if they
could. This is encouraging because it shows that our film would have been a success if it was all put
together.
Showing early drafts of the work (such as an animatic of the
storyboard or a mock up front cover) and asking some carefully framed
questions about them to get a sense of the audience‟s understanding
of the product rather than just a measure of whether the audience
liked it.

Do you know what the genre is? ‘I think you can
see that is an techno thriller film. It was obvious
it would will be focused around action.’
Who is the main character? The girl being
chased Is very heavily focused so it is obvious
she is the main character.
Does this make sense? ‘I'm not 100% sure what
is happening, it is obvious she is being chase but
I'm not sure why.
Taking peer feedback at later stages and then again on the finished
product; asking things like “can you tell me what happened in that
sequence, what the relationship between the characters is and what do
you think will happen in the rest of the film?” to look for audience
readings of the work. „

  • 2. What do real audiences consume? Best selling films of 2012. 1. The Dark Knight Rises. 2. The Hobbit. 3. The Avengers. 4. Brave. 5. The amazing spider-man. These were the most ‘consumed’ films of 2012. audiences mostly like actions films like batman, the hobbit, the Avengers and Spiderman. Also Disney films are always very popular. None of these films are individual films, they are all made by very big production company's.
  • 3. Who are the specific audiences for particular products? Most action films are focused towards younger generation below the age of 40. Rom coms are mostly aimed at girl audiences. These are just some example of what kind of films are aimed at certain types of audiences.
  • 4. How do media industries target those audiences? They use adverts to show people the films. YouTube for example now hosts adverts, ty[ically people who use YouTube are below the age of 30. It is common to find a lot of action and sci –fi trailers on YouTube. You also find a lot of rom com trailers on YouTube. Also depending on what you watch on TV you will get different adverts. If you are watvhing an action packed tv programme the you are more likely to see an action film trailer in the advert breaks.
  • 5. Pitching the product to the rest of the group and taking feedback, noting the responses from this and deciding how to act as a result. The main thing I found with our feedback is that everyone was unclear about the enigma code. The majority of people left the box blank or didnt actually know what it was. Next time we do this we need to make sure that the engima code is clear so that the audience knows what it is. Out of all of the feedback the best part of it was the Name of the film and the cast section. Both of these where highly praised in our feedback and the majority of people rated them both very highly. This shows that our film was appealing because everyone like the title which would make people remember the film and the cast made people excited about the film. The section "is the film different?" Had mixed reviews most people didnt really know what to think of it. Some people thought that it was a good idea and liked it but other thought that it reminded them of a couple of other films. This may make us want to change the theme slightly because people may get bored watching it. This wouldnt be good in the long run because no one will want to watch it and it will no make any money. Overall the film went down well and most people decided that they would buy the film rights if they could. This is encouraging because it shows that our film would have been a success if it was all put together.
  • 6. Showing early drafts of the work (such as an animatic of the storyboard or a mock up front cover) and asking some carefully framed questions about them to get a sense of the audience‟s understanding of the product rather than just a measure of whether the audience liked it. Do you know what the genre is? ‘I think you can see that is an techno thriller film. It was obvious it would will be focused around action.’ Who is the main character? The girl being chased Is very heavily focused so it is obvious she is the main character. Does this make sense? ‘I'm not 100% sure what is happening, it is obvious she is being chase but I'm not sure why.
  • 7. Taking peer feedback at later stages and then again on the finished product; asking things like “can you tell me what happened in that sequence, what the relationship between the characters is and what do you think will happen in the rest of the film?” to look for audience readings of the work. „ Cannot do yet as project isn't finished.
