We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Overview on Edible Vaccine: Pros & Cons with Mechanism
Q4 5
1. Question 4; Who would be the audience for your media product ?
and
Question 5; How did you attract/address your audience ?
2. Our target audience for our product was 13-17 years.
We felt that our target audience being teenagers was
affective as it enabled them to identify with the plot a
lot more due to the fact that the main characters were
around the age range of our target audience. We
decided that the film should be rate 12A as anyone
younger than 13 may feel uncomfortable and agitated
with the way Bertie is acting.
Originally I stated in one of my previous blog
posts that I felt our thriller did not have a
particular target gender as I felt boys would
enjoy it more than girls as boys stereotypically
enjoy more dark films. However, during our
filming process we decided to add more clips
of the character ‘Anna’ who helps Bertie in the
near end of the film when defeating the devil.
We felt that by including more clips of her
would allow the female audience to have a
character to identify with during the film making
our target audience be both male and female.
My group and I aimed for our audience to be
Active whilst watching our thriller film. I feel
We met our aim as the verbal feedback we were given
said that it made them feel involved and due to the
reactions we received people jumped throughout;
meeting our aims of involving the audience but at the
same time creating a scary and jumpy atmosphere.
3. We chose this target audience as teenagers like to explore; like
myself and others, are interested in the supernatural. Our
thriller includes supernatural aspects when Bertie is possessed
by the devil.
I feel that our thriller film will interest people who are able to
identify with characters and put them selves in the characters
shoes. I feel our target audience does fit perfectly with this as
teenagers do tend to have a wide imagination and so would be
able to identify with the plot.
I feel that our thriller in some aspects is metaphor as a lot of
teenagers do have a lot of pressure which could represent the
inner demon of Bertie, I feel by having the main actors around
this age range would also allow our target audience to also
identify with this aspect of the film and by the end of the film
may relieve some pressure.
4. I feel the sound addressed our audience as it
was a popular song from the film ‘Hunger
Games’ which the majority of teenagers have
watched. The use of this cover gave the
audience connotations to the hunger games
but at the same time adding our own twist
linking it with the film.
Throughout our thriller we used many
techniques such as camera angles to
address our audience. We used point
of view shots throughout in order to
put the audience both within Bertie’s
shoes and in a position where it looks
like their passing through the woods.
We also used panning shots to
portray someone walking through the
woods and seeing Bertie run past
them.
5. A film in which does not have a similar target audience
is ‘Sixth sense’. Sixth Sense is aimed at people in the
late 20’s early 40’s as it deals with themes such a death
which is a sensitive manner and are not all about gore
and violence which you’d expect a younger target
audience to watch. Even though our thriller film does
deal with the theme of death (death of Bertie family), its
not in such an extensive amount of detail that would
apply to a younger audience as its not portrayed in a
sensitive manner, by this I mean that the whole film
itself is not based on death but based just on Bertie and
the devil inside.
I previously did some research on
Cabin in the woods’ target
audience and it stated that 65% of
the audience for Cabin in
the woods were from teens to
young adults making this the most
significant as the next highest was
25-35 which was only 26%. This
clearly shows that younger people
from teens to young adults will
most stereotypically be attracted to
this genre of the film. Linking this
to our target audience, both Cabin
in the woods and our target
audience have very similar age
ranges.
Before we started the filming process of A Souls
Redemption we showed our trailer to a variety of people.
We showed the trailer to a 23 year old, 15 year old, and 47
year old. I felt that the responses given showed that both the
15 year old and 23 year old understood the plot more than
the 47 year old as I had to explain the plot to her.
6. When asking for feedback from our final product from our
audience ages from 16-18 we got a range of opinions.
Here someone said they really enjoyed the sound as it
grabbed the viewers attention, they also stated that they
felt that the newspaper at the beginning of the opening
was the best moment. I feel that the sound is relevant as
its Elsie’s cover of hanging tree from the hunger games. As
many people know this song, the tune is familiar, but as
Elsie added her own twist, it was something the audience
wasn’t expecting.
Similarly, here someone said that they also
enjoyed the sound but this time they stated that it
was Bertie’s scream. I feel this really added to the
effect that he was not only fighting a battle inside
but added to the jumpy effect we aimed to give the
audience.
