ASRMS Dress Code
ASRMS Dress Code School dress codes are very debated. Should we have it? Or should we just
have uniforms? It is a broad topic, that many people talk about. In the ASRMS student handbook,
(page 36), the dress code states, In order to create an environment conducive to student learning, the
school requires students to dress appropriately for an educational setting. Students shall not wear
clothing items that contain messages that are vulgar, obscene or libelous; that denigrate others on
the basis of race, color, religion, creed, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, or disability; that
promote alcohol or drug use or violence; or that are otherwise disruptive to the educational process.

The Story Of The Aphorism
Until lions tell their stories, tales of hunting will glorify the hunter. African Proverb The Aphorism
Until lions tell their stories, tales of hunting will glorify the hunter. , stood out to me among the
other aphorisms because it really reflects how we perceive stories, as well as the people who tell
them. In the same manner, it demonstrates how hearing both sides of a story is crucial to making
an accurate judgement while remaining unbiased. Studying this aphorism in a literal sense, we
would see precisely the bias in the perceptions we all have. When hunters disclose the stories of
their kills, they never mention anything that would make them seem any less god like among their
peers. They make a point to seem as virtuous, and honorable

Asset Pricing And Portfolio Management Models
There are many different asset pricing and portfolio management models available to assist us in
the estimation and evaluation of a stock s return. The Fama French Model ( FFM ) is one of
those models. Kenneth French and Eugene Fama who were professors at the University of
Chicago Booth School of Business designed the FFM. Kenneth French and Eugene Fama observed
that historically, the Capital Asset Pricing Model ( CAPM ), which was predominantly used, was
inaccurate as it often resulted in high alpha values which meant that a huge portion of excess
returns were left unexplained. They also observed that companies with smaller market caps would
outperform companies with higher market caps and companies with higher book to market ( B/E )...

This would form the excess returns that small firms have over larger firms and the firm specific
beta will be assigned to it to formulate the value of SMB, accounting for the size risk factor. This is
based on the assumption that smaller firms tend to experience higher excess returns. Accordingly, if
ОІ_SMB is larger than 0, it means that the portfolio would have higher expected returns
signifying that it consist mostly of small companies and vice versa. This assumption is in line
with the fact that smaller companies are riskier than larger companies. As the general rule that
the higher the risk the higher the returns, it is only fitting that companies with smaller market
caps thus higher risk would bring in higher returns. This occurs because the smaller firms are
usually not very popular hence; there are not many investors that are interested in the stock
consequently, the share price would be relatively low, giving it room to perform better. On the
other hand, firms with larger market cap are traded often due to investor s interest, causing their
share price to be high. Evidence of this can be found in a report issued by a research company
Duff and Phelps (2013). It shows that in a 30 year period, small companies has out performed
large companies 92% of the time, further proving that size factor plays a huge part in evaluating the

Ernest Stockler s Desire To Leave The Home
Most people spend their life attempting to discover who they are. They focus on their interests,
their lifestyle, and how they feel. However, a key component to who we are resides in the past.
It depends on our ancestors, our culture, our history, and our family s story. I am the great
granddaughter of Ernest Stockler. I am the great granddaughter of a Czechoslovakian immigrant
that traveled across the ocean to make a better life for his future children. His story made my story
what it is. But, what exactly is his story? Ernest Stockler s story revolves around his desire to leave
Czechoslovakia, the appeal of the United Statesof America, and the life he made in the home of
the free. Ernest Stockler had a strong desire to leave Czechoslovakia. He did not live a terrible
life. In fact, Ernest lived in Czechoslovakia during the time where it became... Show more content

He had to slowly build his life up. Ernest was lucky enough to be surrounded by people who
spoke his language and shared his culture. In fact, during the late nineteenth and early twentieth
centuries, about one sixteenth of all European Czechs immigrated to America (Czech). This
gave my great grandfather the chance to have a safety net of sorts. Yes, he was in a completely
new place. But, it was not entirely foreign. With this support system, Ernest worked hard and
long. In 1940, he was working every week of the year as a mechanic for Distillates factory
(United States). Ernest was stubborn and hardworking. He worked at this factory and built up
his contacts in order to achieve a better life. According to my grandfather, Ernest later was able to
create his own company named A and B Dictaphone Company. This company, named after his
sons, allowed him to create the foundation of a good life for his family (Stockler). This foundation

How Did Chief John Ross Get Fellow Cherokee
Fellow Cherokee people: There is a bad seed among us that must be expelled before spreading it s
disease to more members of our honorable tribe. Jon Ross and his cronies are spreading lies and
blinding our people from seeing the truth.
Chief John Ross says that he is doing what is best for the people when in reality he is doing the
best for himself. Ross denied the people the right to vote in elections by ceasing their existence
despite numerous attempts by the council to reinstate them. Ross is denying the people the right to
speak for themselves. This is NOT the Cherokee way.
Chief John Ross also denied the people the right to publish information and their opinions in the

that the death of our land and the death of our people are one and the same. Ross s faction has
attacked me personally saying that my faction is a pack of spineless mutts that encircle the
Cherokee territory, biting off pieces of our land and retrieving them for the white man in efforts
to please him. My faction is not working for the white man, we are working for the Cherokee
people. The Ridge faction is not selling Cherokee land for 4 million as the Ross faction suggests,
we are guaranteeing Cherokee sovereignty and land and getting the best deal for the Cherokee
people. Even though we may be leaving our territory just as the water beetle left the sky realm but
we are not working to please the whites. How can Ross accuse us of giving land to the whites
when he himself signed a moratorium signing away the Cherokee land in Tennesseewithout
consulting the Cherokee people? Cherokees like Jacob Adair have to move from their land
because of the actions of John Ross. Signing away Cherokee land without even consulting the
Cherokees that live on that land is an action that many would argue is an action done to appease the
whites. This is NOT the Cherokee

The Disadvantages And Disadvantages Of Smallholders And...
2.1.4Smallholders and Farmer Cooperatives
Coffee farming is crucial as the source of income for smallholders farmer in most of developing
countries. Although, the number of private plantation is quite small, they might have the
possibility to break the boundary and an access broader market channel. However, small scale
farmers might have several constraints that prevent them from reaching the market. The demand for
high quality products and consistent volumes is one of the possible constraints that they might
face. Several studies have been drawn the important barrier encountered by developing country
producers regarding institutional and infrastructural support (Trienekens, 2011:52). To some extent,
smallholders also faced a various disadvantage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

rife in high value export market. The conflict lies in the requirements for marketing in terms of

Julius Caesar Standard Score
Caesar is a 7 year old second grader. Caesar claims that he does not like math. To understand Caesar
s results, you must understand the terms raw score, standard score, percentile rank, and grade/age
equivalent. Caesar was tested in basic concepts (numeration, rational numbers, geometry),
operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, mental computation), and applications
(measurement, time, money, estimation, interpreting data, problem solving). From Caesar s scores
on the Key Math Revised he appears to be slightly above average in math comprehension. An
average standard score is 100. Caesar received a standard score of 101 in basic concepts, 102 in
operations, and 107 in applications. This shows that Caesar ranked highest in applications, meaning
that he is slightly above average in measurement, time, money, estimation, interpreting data, and
problem solving, and average in basic concepts. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The grade/age equivalent scores show what grade level matches the student s performance, and
then what age level matches the student s performance. Caesar received a 7 11 in basic
concepts, 7 8 in operations, and 8 3 in applications. These results are interesting, but do not
determine his knowledge in mathematics. Grade/age equivalent scores are a statistical
abstraction; there is no evidence to support the score. The grade/age equivalent score is an
estimation of what the average student can comprehend at a certain age or grade level. The
Committee to Develop Standards actually warns for people not to trust these scores as absolute
truths of a students intelligence. This can be seen on how much these scores differ from the
standard score and percentile ranking Caesar was given. It is highly unlikely that Caesar scored

Factors That Influence The Development Of Mobile Payments
More and more people before deciding to purchase goods used to check offers via smartphones or

Technological development and high availability of new solutions contributed to the increase in
customer expectations to its relations with the bank. The ability to use the money anywhere,
anytime in an easy and convenient way for customers has become natural. Mobile payments is big
innovation which has some a lot of good coins but it has some threats and limitations about which I

The Pros And Cons Of Ineffective Methods
Can you imagine going through the juvenile court system at age 15? Today, when kids commit
crimes at a young age, they can be tried as an adult, and serve adult sentences that could put them
in prison for a large part of their life. As you continue to read, you will learn about the effective and
ineffective ways that the court deals with today s youth.
Ineffective Methods Some of the most ineffective ways to deal with today s youth are the scared
straight program, boot camp (shock incarceration), and group homes. Boot camp is a youth
correctional program, where they enforce strict rules and have harsh punishments. A boot camp s
ineffectiveness is shown where it says, States have begun to consider new approaches to juvenile
offenders, backed by research showing that incarceration actually increases the chances a young
person will commit another crime (Source 3,1). This quote shows that boot camp does not serve its
purpose. When a juvenile goes into boot camp, it is not only ineffective, but it actually increases the
chances that the juvenile will commit another crime. Another method that has proven to be
ineffective is scared straight. Scared straight is a program in which juveniles go into an adult prison
to interact with inmates. One of the people from the Spokane county juvenile court system said that
if a good kid does something bad, then scared straight actually makes it more likely that the kid will
commit another crime (Source 5). This quote shows that scared

My Trip To Goa Essay
My Goa Retreat: Finally the dreamy Goa holiday I badly needed!
You haven t really travelled if you haven t been to Goa. The state is the ultimate destination for
Indian and international tourists and even though I grew up in Orissa, another Indian paradise with
fulfilling beaches, Goa has its own charm. Its reputation precedes it and with its perfect windy,
tropical weather, how could I resist my trip to Goa?
I had heard so much about the Goa water sports so the day I got there for my three day Goa trip,
the first thing I did was hire a boat and just enjoy the morning aboard. I sailed and my husband
was more interested in water scooting so we got our host from the resort to get us a scuba diving

I was really surprised that a lot of people manage to do all these things in just a week or three
days and even though, I was motivated to accomplish at least few of the things I read on the blog, I
stuck with my own laidback intentions!
My husband often takes Goa 2 nights package and Goa 4 nights 5 days with his corporate friends
so I might plan my own list the next time. But this time, we spend our second night in Goa eating
a nice, sumptuous and luxurious lunch at a Goa 4 star resorts beach restaurant. There is absolutely
nothing more romantic than a candle lit delicious meal together in a dimly lit restaurant. I had
been dieting for so long but I ended up eating so much on my trip that I have my cravings satisfied
for almost a year!
I had few monuments like the old churches and some markets decided from the quintessential
Goa 10 places to visit but we the spend our third morning in Goa watching classic films. My
husband is such a movie buff so we watched Pulp Fiction and then had some breakfast in bed.
Our window has the classy beach view as we were staying at a resort near the Calangute so our
room had this perfect view of the beach. It was really the most amazing room in a hotel I have ever
stayed in and now that I am back here, I really want to go

Haitian Revolution Dbq
The Haitian Revolution took place in 1791. One of the main Factors which led to the success of the
revolution is the collapse and the malfunction of the French Monarchy. In France, the revolutionary
government was considering equality. The governor at the time implemented the idea of equality
for all blacks and whites to bend, he also mandated that slaveryabolished. Instead of the people of
France agreeing with him they Beheaded him and killed his members. The salves thought that they
had been freed in the Caribbean which resulted in their starting to resist and revolt on the basis that
the planter were hiding their freedom from them. They wanted to be free and not be beaten
anymore. Which sparked the Haitian Revolution

He was also very successful in negotiating with the French General Leclerc, who misrepresented
France s orders by attacking L Ouverture and his forces. L Ouverture was able to calmly respond
by arranging a diplomatic meeting and creating a resolution about territorial boundaries, proving
his advanced diplomatic ability. He also proved advanced military ability by defending cities
against French Gen. Rochambeau. One specific battle was at La Croix, during which L
Ouverture fought off Rochambeau s force which far outnumbered his own (304). Dessalines
and Christophe also proved very capable and they worked cohesively with each other and with L
Ouverture .Г‚ L Ouverture s leadership empowered the Haitian people and the slave armies and
his reputation had such a lasting effect that he became a heroic figure for anti slavery activism
in the U.S. He was described by some activists in the mid 1800s as being among history s greatest
men (Clavin 38).Г‚ His character became a symbol of anti slavery idealism and, on a larger
scale, of racial equality (35). L Ouverture was proof of the ability of black men to achieve feats
comparable to white men, showing that the races were equal (38). His success had revolutionary
implications because this was the first time a black slave population had ousted a white population

IT in the New Future
1.1Introduction
A revolution is taking place. Information Technology has quickly emerged as a significant field all
over the world. Computers are extremely versatile and finding their way into every business,
industry and research activity today. The uses of computers are diverse and encompass
entertainment, education, communication, problem solving, research, decision making and
everything. The whole lot will be merged to IT in the near future. The wired world of business,
where technology, human talent, and a new way of doing business make up to day s growing
worldwide economy. The backbone of this electronic commerce is the internet. While it s rapidly
spreading there are also rapid changes in every instance of time as addition of new sophisticated
technologies and new standards etc.
Though communication technology is currently undergoing a massive revolution, these advances
and the accompanying benefits have not yet filtered down to those in developing nations with
antiquated and outdated technology. This project attempts to address this need by developing a
system that harnesses the power of the Internet, which is the most economical and yet most widely
available and accessible global network in existence.

Throughout the course of time, politicians have used the media to promote their platform. Now, in

are these two rival politicians, how do they campaign, and who outperforms the other?
The two candidates are Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. Hillary Clinton is the democratic

I believe Hillary is more adept at establishing credibility, with her use of retweeting thoughts, but
Trump s pathos is certainly stronger than Hillary s. Both flounder in the face of Logos, although
given the medium, Logos is rather difficult to use. Trump does promote himself using twitter,
through Hashtags for topics, but Hillary succeeds at using twitter to it s fullest as she also retweets.
With this in mind, I would give the name of better rhetorician to Hillary.

The Lowell Work Force, And The Social Origins Of Women...
The first article was chapter three, The Lowell Work Force, 1836, and the Social Origins of
Women Workers from the book, Women at Work: The Transformation of Work and Community
in Lowell, Massachusetts, 1826 1860, written by Thomas Dublin. It paralleled nicely with the
article I chose which was, I Think Less of the Factory than of my Native Dell Labor, Nature, and
the Lowell Mill Girls from Environmental History, by Chad Montrie. The article, The Lowell
Work Force primarily discussed what type of people, predominately women, worked in the
Lowell mill. The information was neither new nor surprising for me. I had been to the Lowell
Mill museum before and most the information there was in the article. The women were young
women, from farming families, not yet married and mostly native born women, not immigrants.
What did surprise me was why they chose to work. I would have guessed that they worked to
earn wages to send home to help support their families, yet, that was rarely the case. Moving away
did lighten the family burden; however, that is not why these women left. They moved to work in
a factory so they could earn wages and use them for nonessential things, things that they wanted,
not needed. For many, the appeal of this might have been from the fact that growing up on a farm
with limited money, clothes were always homespun and they had few, if any, frivolous things. For
example, Sally Rice left home to earn something of my own, which was obviously not

Origin of replication is the starting point of DNA replication. It cannot replicate in the host cells

Antibiotic resistance gene can be served as a select agent to find the right clone and then improve
the plasmid transformation efficiency. Antibiotic resistance gene can also give the bacteria a

This paper will be defining the 2008 great recession and the economic impact which the United
States wasn t aware of. The great recession affected various businesses and others forced to
increase prices or close doors immediately. Fiscal and monetary policies will also be discussed
briefly in detail knowing the differences and determining the best course of action. Lastly will be
implementing possible solutions to fix the economic problem and prevent any future recessions
that could pose a devastating impact to economy. 2008 Great Recession Involvement The Great
Recession was best known during the late President Bush into Obama era. Great Recession defined
as; the economic slump began when the U.S. housing market went from boom to bust and large
amounts of mortgage backed securities and derivatives lost significant value (Investopedia.com).
As the housing market was crashing, houses and business buildings have become vacant which the
per capita rate for many cities dropped. The issue forced gas prices and goods to increase to make
up for the loss per capita rate percentage. The economy doesn t see the big picture when prices rise
and interest decreases, hurting, value and profits within businesses throughout country continue
bringing down markets. Take Johnstown Pennsylvania for example; the city was known for the
leading steel manufacturing companies. With the market declining with facts from 2000 2010

A Changing Lifestyle At The Age Of Thirty
A Changing Lifestyle
At the age of thirty, I am still trying to find my place in the world. I have moved in and out of my
parents home several times, and each time I have learned important lessons about life. Gaining
independence is often a long and difficult struggle. At the age of nineteen, I moved out of my
parents house. Becoming independent for the first time was great. My first apartment was small; it
had a one bedroom, and my rent was affordable. When I moved in to the apartment, I smelled the
fresh paint on the walls, I see that it had two windows and carpet that felt soft on my feet. I had
an old neighbor that lived next door to me to whom I started to become friends. His named was
Joe and we would always set around talk and have strawberry cheesecake. Ponderosa Steak
House was where I was working when I lived on my own. I worked there four years both baker
and cook person. Unfortunately, not everything went smoothly. Before long, my roommates and I
were partying too much. My friends that I had enjoyed partying, and I often joined them. We would
hang out at my place all night. We drank alcohol, watched movies, sat around talking, and went
out to other friends house. I hung out with my friends every weekend. I fell in love with the wrong
person whom I dated for four years. My ex s boyfriend was also in to alcohol. We were drinking all
the time; however, we would fight on a regular basis. I had to move back into my parents house in

Dehumanization In The Island Of Dr. Moreau
Dehumanization
In the book Civil War Stories the author Ambrose Bierce wrote about fictional war stories based
on his time in the Army. In all of the stories there is usually dehumanization and almost always a
plot twist at the end. In the book The Island of Doctor Moreau there is a mad scientist who lives
on an island trying to create the perfect beast person. Dr. Moreau dehumanizes a lot in this book in
many ways such as performing horrific surgery on animals. Dehumanization is when you treat
someone like they re not a human, making them seem like they re not worthy of human treatment.
That is what the book Civil War Stories and The Island of Dr. Moreau is about and what
dehumanization is. One of the stories in the book Civil War Stories... Show more content on

This story is told by a third person narrator. In this story a young boy who is deaf and mute
wanders off alone while playing war against fake people. After his fake war was over he
encountered an animal, it was a rabbit. He got so scared he ran, jumped in between two rocks
and cried himself to sleep. After a few hours passed he woke up and could feel the chills of the
night. He walked to an opening in the area and saw a figure that seemed to be a large animal. He
thought it might be a dog or a pig, maybe even a bear, but he could not name it. They were men,
they were soldiers. They did nothing like humans would do. They crawled, they only used their
knees and not their arms. Some layed motionless, they were dead. Nothing at all about them was
human. He thought they were like his father s slaves that he had ridden before making believe
they were his horses. He got on top of one of the men and immediately the man flung him off.
The man turned and lacked a jaw. His throat was a big red gap with flesh hanging down. The
man shook his fist at the child finally making him run away. Then a fire beyond the belt of the
woods suffused the whole landscape. On the boys way back he realized the fire was burning
down his own home. A woman lay dead in the house her forehead ripped off and her brain stood
out of her temple. In this story it shows dehumanization when the boy rides the soldier like he is an
animal. That

The Brothers Grimm s Cinderella
Life lessons stick with people throughout their life even if they re derived from children s stories.
There are valuable lessons in three versions of Cinderella, a beloved fairy tale around the world.
Grimm s version of Cinderella published in 1812 was a very momentous tale among youngins in
Germany. Korea s version of Cinderellapublished in 1990 was a widespread tale amount children
in Korea. Disney s depiction of Cinderella was a popular tale amount kids in America. In each
variation of Cinderella Grimm, Korea, and Disney one valuable theme stands out among all others.
The Brothers Grimm version of Cinderella displays and proves a very simple but meaningful
theme: if you do everything that you are asked to do you will be rewarded in the end. Before the
readers could realize that this was the theme of the story the Grimm Brothers explained how the

The theme is meant to imply that you have to work and do what you re asked for a reward. The

you ll be put in a sack and sent back to china. (2) Later when she does all of this thanks to one of

Persuasive Essay On Hurricane Harvey
As our city grieves in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, a category four hurricane that hit Houston as
a tropical storm, our nation is left battling economic and social concerns that will impact the future
of both Texas and America as a whole. As many areas of Houston are transitioning from relief to
rebuilding, our politicians and local leaders need to take hard look at the best path moving forward.
Despite tensions between Texan politicians and the national government, it is to our benefit that we
turn to federal funding to provide for our people. Though we are Houston Strong and were able to
act quickly in helping our neighbors immediately following the devastation, it is imperative that we
work cohesively with the national government to make Texasstronger for the long run. As we
begin moving forward we need to ask ourselves, Do we want to rebuild sooner or better?
As we re trying to move from relief to recovery and rebuilding, it s nearly imperative that we look
back to unveil why this widespread flooding occurred in the first place. If we trace back to the
research of engineers in the 1990 s, it was recorded that the reservoir system was inadequate and
endangered thousands of lives and properties (Thompson). Arthur Storey, Harris County s Flood
Director in 1996, coins the wreckage that lies before us as a massive governmental and engineering
failure (Thompson). Research suggests that we foresaw the potential damage, yet failed to invest in

Reconstruction Of Post Disaster Reconstruction Projects
Post disaster reconstruction projects are influenced by administrative, political, social, economic,
and cultural settings. The likelihood of success of such projects diminishes if and when systematic
recovery plans are absent and the project cost and time overruns. Inadequate relevant policies and
legal systems and domination from economically or politically powerful groups/persons in planning
and decision making processes further weaken the reconstruction process. Furthermore, ignoring the
communication and coordination among stakeholders, boosting unsustainable construction,
prioritizing corruption, and hindering transparency lead such projects to a complete failure.

Sustainable reconstruction offers the opportunity to improve the quality of infrastructures, the
environment and living conditions in disaster affected regions. To improve the outcomes of
reconstruction, efforts are needed from various angles, ranging from legislation and policy making,
capacity building of local communities to updating building codes and enhanced relevant political
support. A public private partnership synergizes the advantages of both public and private sectors in
long term comprehensive partnerships. According to a number of studies, public private
partnership projects have been performed on time and within budget with enhanced sustainability
than traditionally procured projects. Adding people in the public private partnership projects can
achieve better value for money and sustainable infrastructure reconstruction. People, in this context,
are the major stakeholders in reconstruction that include local communities, academia, professional
groups and media. A partnership among public sector, private sector, and people will play an
important role in improving the outcomes from post disaster reconstruction projects. Local
communities should be involved from the very beginning in post disaster planning phase as they
can be a source of invaluable local history, culture and customs, as well as their involvement will

The Importance Of Agriculture In Schools
I think agriculture can help schools. Through Agriculture in Schools, students ages 10 14 and their
teachers receive training in best practices, including compost making, proper sowing and
cultivation. Students who participate learn to appreciate the great importance and dignity of
agricultural work. Agriculturewill help with fresh ingredients; young people often have a poor
opinion of agricultural work. Clearly, this could be the answer to teach students, how to be able to
grow more food of better nutritional quality. Agriculture should be an elective or even a
requirement at schools.
Many students who has grow in farms specially, do not want to have agriculture as a courses,
because they aspire to break away from what they consider a financially and morally impoverishing
vocation. So, an option could be to have agriculture, as a club where student interested on learning
more about agriculture, which is the cultivation and breeding of animals, plants and fungi (fungus)
for food, fiber, biofuel, medicinal plants and other products used to sustain and enhance human life.
So with this information, do you believe agriculture can help schools?
First and foremost it would create fresh ingredients, because they could cook with fresh
vegetables like garlic, carrots, and corn. They could help with fruits like apples and oranges. They
wouldn t have to order the fruits and vegetables. They would be able to get it while saving money.

Ethics, Unnatural Laws, By Arthur A. Leff
Part One: Summary In the article Unspeakable Ethics, Unnatural Laws, Arthur A. Leff took an
agnostic approach when determining what morality should be comprised of. He suggested that
humans struggle with desiring to follow a predetermined and unchallengeable set of moral rules,
while at the same time wanting the autonomy to create those rules.
If ethical rules are preordained, they would need to come from a supernatural being that was
unruled, unjudged, and beyond question: God. If God exists, we are created to fit into His system
and should therefore abide by His rules. God dictates the laws of the world through what Leff
refers to as performative utterances . These utterances are essentially His will made into reality via
His command. Performative utterances are the act of God creating the rules that govern the world.
He is the only being who has the capacity to do this without facing the inevitable says who
mentality.
This sort of attitude ensues when beings of equal rank differ in their opinions of what is right
and what is wrong, with no overarching authority. It is this problem in particular that leads
philosophers to despair; if there is no God, there is no steady ethical or legal system that can be
put into place. There is nothing more correct or more flawed than anything else. There will never
be progress, as you cannot progress from something you cannot deem to be less suitable. If there is
no such higher being, we are all that is left to decide for

Noah And The Frogs Essay
Despite the fact that several fables and the bible were written in two completely different time
periods they are still are relatable in the sense that one of their main purposes is to teach the
individuals reading or listening to them a moral lesson or a cardinal virtue. The presence of the
cardinal virtue prudence is evident in both Genesis book six, the story of Noah, and the fable
Jupiter and the Frogs. From these stories we are able to distinguish that when prudence is found at
just the right amount characters find themselves in rewarding situations, on the other hand, if too
much prudence (vanity) is retained then punishment tends to follow. The story of Noah and the

The Differences Of Aztecs And Mayan Civilizations
Aztecs and Mayans were the biggest civilizations in Mesoamerica. They are known for having
mass amounts of knowledge in subjects like astronomy, mathematics, agriculture and architecture.
These two civilizations have their own creation myth: Mayas have Popol Vuh, while Aztecs have
Mito de los Cinco Soles. Both works have given an insight on their culture s values, ways of living
and beliefs. However, when the Spanish came to America most of the books containing essential
information of these civilizations were destroyed. Some of the written works that were rescued
pertained to both: Mesoamerican and Spanish authors. The Mayan and Aztecworks Chilam Balam
and Presagios segГєn los informantes de SahagГєn describe Spanish brutality and abuses, defining
them as violent. In contrast Spanish works Segunda Carta de RelaciГіn de HernГЎn Cortes and
Carta de Pedro de Alvarado justify Spanish actions against Mesoamericas civilizations by
portraying their own leaders as saviors. Spanish and Mesoamerican civilizations texts show
contradictory points of view towards the conquest, creating skepticism on what really happened
during that time.
Popol Vuh and Mito de los Cinco Soles are relevant texts because they emphasize the importance of
sacrifice in their culture. The Mayan book, Popol Vuh, is a broad text that contains the myths of
earth, humanity, and life creation; as well as it emphasizes the influence deities had in their life.

Reasons For Imperialism
According to the textbook, World History: Modern Times by Glencoe. Imperialism is said to be
extension of a nations power over other lands (page 430). The power included control of politics,
economy, and culture life of other countries. Imperialism was global and was controlled by France,
Britian, and the United States. Over time other countries became a part of imperialistic rule. There
are four forms of imperial rule that included: colonies, protectorates, spheres of influence, and
economic imperialism. Colonies were in categories by two different kinds; direct rule and indirect
rule. Direct rule meant that officials from France were sent to be in charge of the colonies. Indirect
rule meant that rulers from that area were in charge.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, Britan saw India as a great source of raw materials because of their canal that made
transporting materials easy and made trade of textiles inexpensive. Being able to get raw
materials and cheap labor from countries who were poor became the drive for imperialism.
Another motivation for imperialism was an effort for countries in power to gain more power
over other European countries. They also wanted to gain more land and they did not stop at
using their military force to get what they wanted! Also imperialism was motivated by moral
benefits. The ruling countries believed they were the superior race because they were white and
everyone else was considered primitive . For example, in the 1850 s the British mistreated Indian
soldiers and this led to a war. The ruling countries also considered it their job to civilize people in
other parts of the world. An example can be seen in the fact that many Indians were impressed by
the British and learned English and actually condemned some tradtions held by the Indians like child

Communication Journal Entry

Perhaps there is nothing more important than understanding how we communicate if we want to
ensure that we are able to convey our ideas and intent to people across a wide variety of cultures in
a wide variety of settings. Thus, it is vital for me to understand my verbal communication style if I
want to be an effective speaker. After our Encounters class on verbal communication, I was able to
better understand how I communicate with others. I realized that being brought up in a low context
culture, in addition to the fact that I was an immigrant, has made me to be more explicit in my
words than implicit. More often than not, when I communicate, I will try to verbally indicate as
many details and instructions as possible. Conversely, I have difficulty communicating with people
who are more implicit in their verbal communication style if I m not familiar with the culture or
slang, I might interpret their message more literally. Furthermore, when I communicate, I feel as if
I don t consider face as much as other people. I have always emphasized facts and the truth, even
at the cost of losing face. As a result, I am more straightforward in my choice of words. For
example, If I feel someone is not contributing to some sort of group project, I will tell that person
that they are not doing their part for the team. Of course, through my experiences, I have come to

Black Molly Research Paper
There are some peculiar varieties of fish which requires special conditions for their existence.
Black molly is one of them.
Black Molly is a brackish fish. Such type of fish cannot sustain in either pure freshwater or in pure
saltwater. They must be kept in a tank with water which has some salt. The quantity of salt may
not be very high like normal saltwater but there has to be some salt required for them to live.
Naturally you cannot easily accommodate Black Molly with other fish in fresh water or salt water
tanks.
You should make some on line research and also consult your pet shop owner about how much salt
needs to be placed in the water.

Usually it resembles a black guppy fish. This is a live bearer fish. So you need to provide a lot
of baby fish around the adults. If you keep a pair of a male and a female with no young ones
around, they may not be comfortable with the environment and may develop stress which may even
result in their death.
In spite of these specific requirements, Black Molly is an easy fish to care. You should put the
fish in a tank with the water capacity of 10 gallons or more. This is required for taking care of
their living environment. The fish will grow up to two inches over a period of time. If you want
to keep a family of them in the tank, which is recommended, you should calculate the water
capacity at two gallons per one inch of fish. So if the family consists of 10 members, you can keep
them in a tank of 20 plus gallons.
The temperature of water should be kept in the range of 75 85 degrees. You should install a
lighting system to provide sufficient light for them. They will usually require 6 hours of light
every day. Please do not keep the light for longer time. In that case, the temperature of the water
will increase and the fish will get over heated. Providing light for 6 hours will resemble their natural

The Dilemma Of The Chicken And Egg Dilemma
The chicken and egg dilemma
Many of you will be aware of the famous dilemma of the chicken and the egg which came first?
For those of you who aren t aware, essentially this has been a question in philosophical thought for
many centuries. The question asks, how can the first chicken have come from an egg when that
egg would have had to have been laid by a chicken, and how can the first egg have come from a
chicken when that chicken would have had to have been hatched from an egg? Thus, the dilemma
of which came first, the chicken or the egg? Evolutionary theory believes it has answered this
question. It surmises that the foetuses in eggs laid by previous ancestors of the chicken would have

The intermediate (morphologically significantly different) creatures between species are listed as
the number variants on Figure 11. For example, in the dog species we could hypothetically
consider the first dog as creature d1 and the American Bulldog (one of the most recent dog
breeds to come into existence) as d5 which is then going to go on to develop a new species e
(obviously this has not happened [yet?!]). The higher the number, the closer the creature is to
becoming the next species. For example, creature b7 is close to becoming a new species
(species c). Remember, this is only a hypothetical depiction for explanation purposes in
evolutionary theory it is presumed there would be many, many more intermediate creatures
between the two distinct species, but for purposes of our explanation, this makes no difference.
Now, species differentiation can be clearly separated by an objective and binary measurement,
namely the ability to reproduce. Either you can reproduce with another creature or you cannot
there is no in between whereby you can partially reproduce with them. If you are the same
species, you can reproduce; if you are different species, you cannot reproduce. Obviously, it is
clear to see that creature b7 is still a member of the b species and therefore technically should be
able to reproduce with any member of the b species all the way down to creature b1. However,
the morphological differences between b1 and b7 are going to be much greater than that between
b7 and c1, meaning it makes no sense why b1 and b7 can reproduce but b7 and c1 cannot. You
cannot say the theoretical ability to reproduce gradually reduces as species get more advanced and
get closer to becoming the next species this would be non sensical. Similarly, we cannot say that
creature b7 can reproduce with creature c1 as this would defy the principal that different species
cannot reproduce. So, there is this strange

Planning A Cheerleaders Essay
Being a cheerleader comes with a great deal of responsibilities. Planning a pep rally is one of
them. It takes time, even when you don t have any. It is so stressful but well worth it. A pep
rally takes a lot of planning and a lot of patience but not everyone is capable of doing it. Before
planning a pep rally, you need game supplies, music, and cheerleaders. First, when planning a
pep rally, you need to set aside a date and have it approved by a higher authority. Once the date
has been set, you can start advertising to students, staff, and the rest of the community. After all of
that has been broadcasted, picking a theme comes next. This is probably the hardest part of
planning a pep rally. It is so difficult because finding music that is not inappropriate, is
unimaginable. When picking a theme, you also need to keep in mind how to design a t shirt. Then,
it s timeto send out order forms and set a due date for the shirts. And this isn t even the hard part!
After setting a date, picking a theme, and designing a shirt is done, it s time to start creating a
dance! Plus a cheer for the Varsity Cheerleaders. But the dance consists of several eight counts,
stunt sequences, jumps, and a various number of formations that goes along with your appropriate
music and theme. Once that is completed, it s time to teach everyone!... Show more content on

We don t need our audience bored but nothing too dangerous. Usually, I look on pinterest for
game ideas because that s one thing I m not good at. This past year for the Back to School Bash,
our cheer sponsor had ideas from games they played at church camp over the summer. Here are
some examples of what we played: Sit Down Basketball, Diaper Dodgeball, and Home Run Derby.
All of three of these games require different supplies, such as one basketball, forty clean diapers, a
plastic bat, and a small foam ball. Once everything is gathered for the games you choose, you re

Pros And Cons Of Pay For Equal Pay
The Guardian article The USA women s national team are demanding equal pay. Is it realistic?
written by Beau Dure discusses the interview held by CBS s 60 Minutes about the USA women
s national soccer team s drive for equal pay. There have been scarce meetings between US soccer
and representatives for the women s team, and even less knowledge of what is being discussed
within these meetings. As of now all that anyone knows for sure is that the women s team
current deal is coming to an end. Dure points out that the debate at hand includes all forms of
equality between the US men s team and the US women s team; such as equality in pay, travel
amenities, and field location accessibility. However, while there are many parts to this debate
Dure choses to focus on the difference in pay. Dure emphasizes the difference in the payment
systems, bonuses for championships, and gap between two star players that play the same
position. Dure makes sure to add that this debate has been going on for a long time and not only
in the US. At this moment it is unknown if they are looking for exact pay as the men s team.
The USA women s national team are demanding equal pay. Is it realistic? by Beau Dure, is an
informative article written with the purpose to tell the reader the facts in the debate over equal
pay between men s and women s soccer. Dure emphasizes the pay gap and supports the claim of
there being one with several sub claims. He does not simply say that there is a gap, he tells

The Cardiovascular System From The National Nutrition Of...
This paper will examine the possible consequences on the cardiovascular system from the national
nutrition of Kazakhstan. I choose this topic for research since I have the personal interest in the
food I eat and I am contemplating the disciplines in medicine, particularly cardiology or cardio
surgery. So, choosing this topic might enhance my knowledge in these areas that can help me to
stand out from other candidates. Moreover, during my work experience in a cardiologycenter, I had
many questions but they still have not answered yet, hence doing this project I am planning to find
the answers for them. My first and the main question was the reason the Kazakh nation has
tremendous problems with the hearthealth. Another one was why most of the patients lying in the
clinic are males who are in age and overweight. These questions seem to be obvious but it was
before I went to do A level and I can say that I knew nothing about the heart. Although, now I have
broad knowledge about this topic I want to extend them and imply it to my culture and traditions.
Therefore, I proposed a hypothesis Kazakh national food has a deleterious effect on the
cardiovascular systemand it is the major cause of death from the cardiovascular diseases . So, the
purpose of this research is to confirm or refute this hypothesis and try to identify to what extent
traditional meals influence the development of cardiovascular diseases.
The heart and circulatory system make up the cardiovascular system.

E-Commerce and the Global Market
Electronic commerce (e commerce) over the Internet is the fastest growing method for consumers
to conduct business. Less than ten years old and it already has radically altered the potential to
economic activities and the social environment. There are nearly 200 million Internet users
worldwide currently. Of these 200 million users, roughly 40 percent reside in the United States
(Styliano, A., Robbins, S. Jackson, P., 2003). E commerce currently affects large sectors such as
communications, banking and the retail industry. E commerce has also had an effect on the
education, health and government (Wyckoff, A., Colecchia A., 1999). It is predicted that
commerce on the Internet could total tens of billions of dollars by the turn of the... Show more

There have been some negative effects on the economy due to the emergence of e commerce. It is
assumed that the availability of goods online should increase competition but this does not always
occur. Reputable companies who have majority control over their industry can sometimes maintain
high prices. Further, the Internet allows companies to obtain pricing information from their
competitors companies easily and allows them to react immediately to external changes. Company
monitoring can also work against consumers. Since other companies can quickly change their
price, the original company would not make any extra revenue from increased sales (LaRose,
R.,2000). There is also the issue of product differentiation. Increased competition due to ecommerce
allows companies to better create products especially for a certain target audience. This makes it
difficult for consumers to compare products and lessens the competition and keep prices high.
As electronic commerce expands it has a greater social impact. The social impact of e commerce is
characterized by the globalization of markets, the shift towards an economy based on knowledge
and information, and the growing prominence of technology in everyday life (Jones, B., n.d.). As e
commerce expands, there becomes a greater need to improve education about the business and
technical side of e commerce. Traditional educational institutions will have to

Analysis Of Michael Patrick King s The City Franchise
Second edition of Sex in the City franchise by director Michael Patrick King, the girls are settling
into their 40 s or in Samantha s case her 50 s. Each gal is still looking fabulous but needing a
break from the doldrums of daily life, they are invited to Abu Dhabi to experience the newest
hotel in hopes that Samantha s PR firm will endorse it. The bulk of the movie follows the ladies
on their awkward vacation in the rigid Middle Eastand the life lessons learned there. Sex in the
City 2 misses the mark in its latest attempt at the box office by choosing the location of Abu Dhabi
of the United Arab Emirates, scripting a lazy floundering plot line and a movie length that could
have been trimmed by more than a few minutes. The first and greatest downfall of this movie is
simply the location. Sending the fully liberated girls to Abu Dhabi is just a stupid mistake for
two reasons. First, it s 2010 and America is at war in Afghanistan and Iraq, and so why the
writers chose another Muslim country to send their main characters to on a vacation is beyond
me. In a time when we have so many of our brothers and sisters fighting in wars in the Middle
East, to glorify Abu Dhabi as a vacation location can be considered by many as offensive.
Second, if the creators were looking for exotic locations, there are many other places to be found?
Paris may not be exotic but it is fashionable and far enough away to be exotic to Holly Housewife
who is shelling out the eight dollars to see

Throughout The Ritual Of Death Essay
1.Throughout the ritual of death and burial, what is the most important thing to take away from the
ritual.
I think for me personally, is to take away the fact that the person who is leaving or spiritual
world, is going to a better place. We can take away the knowledge that we know our friend is
going to a more peaceful place. Also it s important to take away that we know the person in the
death ritual is leaving in the proper catholic way
2. what are the key symbols that are used throughout the ritual?
The Priest s Vestments
Since we are celebrating our loved one s entrance into everlasting life and sharing in Christ s
victory over death, the clergy normally wears the color white, which is associated with resurrection
and used at Easter, weddings, baptisms and other joyous events. Music

The words of Jesus Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has life eternal and I will raise him
on the last day recall our hope for eternal life in Christ. Placing of the Pall
The funeral pall points back to the white garment given us at our Baptism and symbolizes our life
in Christ. It is draped over the coffin at the beginning of the liturgy, usually by family members.
Symbols of Christian Life
A symbol of Christian life, such as a bible, a book of the gospels, or a cross may be placed on the
coffin as a sign that the Christian is marked, in Baptism, and through Jesus victory over death is
brought to eternal life. Reconciliation
Often, the death of a loved one touches family members and friends who have become alienated
from God and wish to become reconciled. The parish priest may assist in that process by offering
the opportunity for the sacrament of penance or reconciliation at the church or funeral home before
calling hours. If this is desirable, please contact the parish priest to ask if these arrangements can be

William Faulkner Influence on his Work Essay
The writer and Nobel Prize winner, William Cuthbert Faulkner, was born in New Albany,
Mississippi, on September 25, 1897. Faulkner was the first of four sons to Murry Cuthbert
Falkner and Maud Butler. His family settled in Oxford when he was about five years old, and
Faulkner spends most of his life there. Faulkner was successful early in his life, but during the
fifth grade he lost interest in school and started missing classes. He did not graduate from high
school, and later on he was able to go to the University of Mississippi in Oxford, but dropped out
after three semesters. He is known as one of the most famous Southern literature writers, mostly for
his novels and poetry. William Faulkners literary career was influenced by... Show more content on

the men through a sort of respectful affection ... (Faulkner 79). The Souther culture valued their
community and took it for a granted accomplishment to attend a funeral and help in need. Theses
Southern culture and values influenced some of Faulkner s work. Also, Faulkner represents the
old southern values through his story A Rose for Emily, when Emily starts seeing Homer
Barron. The author Thomas Dilworth refers in his journal A Romance to Kill for: Homicidal
Complicity in Faulkner s A Rose for Emily , By entering a love affair with Homer Barron, Emily
briefly rebelled against southern values and then, by ending her affair with him, at least as far
the townspeople were concerned, she conformed against those values (Dilworth). The older
townspeople believed that Emily forgot her noblesse oblige . They disliked Barron because he
was a Northerner Yankee . Faulkner s own Southern culture and value are present in his story.
Dilworth also describes in his journal that the narrator, ... implies his own and his society s
cultural values which influence attitudes and behavior toward Emily in a way that implicates him
and the townspeople in her fate (Dilworth). Faulkner is describing his own privet love story
thorough Emily s love for Barron. When Faulkner fall in love Estella Oldhams, her parents a
banded their relationship and made Estella marry someone else. In A Rose for Emily, Faulkner
wrote that Emily was prepared to get married, but Barron Faulkner states,

The Importance of Booster Seats and Seat Belts
In 2011 there were 650 deaths of children who were not properly buckled or in a car seat when
riding in a vehicle, with the use of a booster that could have been extremely reduced. Families are
out on road trips so much more than in the past, which means that children are in the car far
more than they used to be ( Booster ... 1). Almost 7, 000 children were involved in accidents in
2006 and 45% of them were not restrained and received fatal injuries ( Statistics... 6). In 2006, there
were approximately 5 child fatalities daily ( Statistics... 2).This number could be lowered if
children would be placed in proper booster or car seats for their age and buckled soundly. Most
children that are not buckled are from families where the parent does not buckle up ( Child
Passenger Safety 2). When in a car, only about 21% of children ages 4 8 years of age are
occasionally riding in a booster ( Child Passenger Safety Statistics 4).These precautions help
children to be secure in case of an accident. In an article published by the CDC, they stated,
Buckling children in age and size appropriate car seats, booster seats, and seat belts reduces the
risk of serious and fatal injuries ( Child Passenger Safety 4). The laws state that all children should
be in a car seat, for a reason. Use of seat belts are important but the combination of seat belts and
boosters together, are proven to help keep children from deaths and injuries in accidents, especially
when they are used

The Quality Of Language Input And Early Onset Effects On...
The two previous studies exemplify that the quality of language input and early onset has
significant effects on linguistic and sub linguistic mechanisms. It calls into question whether
input quality is predictive of later sign language skills in deaf education program settings. In
spoken languages, the quality and quantity of language input is predictive of a child s later
linguistic abilities (Cartmill et al., 2013). However, most deaf children entering education have
hearing parents, creating a barrier to language development. Many deaf programs support
bilingual philosophies in which the basis of English is also taught in order to facilitate
communication between the deaf and non deaf communities (Murphy Swiller, 2014). Leah Nicole
Murphy Swiller (2014) investigates input quality within deaf education settings using American
Sign Language (ASL). She hypothesizes that deaf participants learning language through slightly
different modalities will differ in their ASL receptive skills and their comprehension of English
grammar knowledge, even after educational instruction. This is done by comparing
approximately one hundred and forty nine 4 and 5 year old deaf children at schools in 26 states
across the United States of America. The deaf children are divided into three groups: those with
ASL as their first language (L1), English as their L1, and those who spoke a sign supported
English. These groups are compared to a control group of same aged hearing peers. All children

An Analysis Of Flowers For Algernon
Flowers for Algernon is a very intriguing novel about Charlie Gordon, a mentally challenged adult.
Throughout the novel, there are numerous references to Carlie s past with his family. His past
intelligence is what primarily causes him to undergo his treatment. However, his past relationship
with his family, prominently his mother, alter his abilities to develop emotional connections. His
newfound intelligence also complicates his abilities to reconnect with his family and friends
from before. Therefore, Charlie s past had a very powerful influence on Charlie during and after
the experiment. During the experiment, Charlie s intelligence level heavily influences how he is
treated. Before he becomes an intellectual, Charlie is treated with great disrespect by his
acquaintances. Charlie s coworkers used the phrase pulling a Charlie Gordon quite often when
insulting another coworker. They use this term to describe a person as unintelligent, or stupid,
much like they label Charlie. Initially, Charlie does not understand what the term means, but as
he becomes smarter, he does, and it upsets him greatly. Charlie s change of opinions affects his
relationships and bonds. Before Charlie went through the experiment, he believes his coworkers,
Frank and Joe, are his best friends, as they take him to parties with them. As Charlie progresses,
he realizes they only keep him around to embarrass him, and for a good laugh. (4) Suddenly,
during his progression, Charlie s co workers take a

African Proverb The Aphorism Until lions tell their stories, tales of hunting will glorify the hunter. , stood out to me among the other aphorisms because it really reflects how we perceive stories, as well as the people who tell them. In the same manner, it demonstrates how hearing both sides of a story is crucial to making an accurate judgement while remaining unbiased. Studying this aphorism in a literal sense, we would see precisely the bias in the perceptions we all have. • 5. Asset Pricing And Portfolio Management Models There are many different asset pricing and portfolio management models available to assist us in the estimation and evaluation of a stock s return. The Fama French Model ( FFM ) is one of those models. Kenneth French and Eugene Fama who were professors at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business designed the FFM. Kenneth French and Eugene Fama observed that historically, the Capital Asset Pricing Model ( CAPM ), which was predominantly used, was inaccurate as it often resulted in high alpha values which meant that a huge portion of excess returns were left unexplained. They also observed that companies with smaller market caps would outperform companies with higher market caps and companies with higher book to market ( B/E )... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This would form the excess returns that small firms have over larger firms and the firm specific beta will be assigned to it to formulate the value of SMB, accounting for the size risk factor. This is based on the assumption that smaller firms tend to experience higher excess returns. Accordingly, if ОІ_SMB is larger than 0, it means that the portfolio would have higher expected returns signifying that it consist mostly of small companies and vice versa. This assumption is in line with the fact that smaller companies are riskier than larger companies. As the general rule that the higher the risk the higher the returns, it is only fitting that companies with smaller market caps thus higher risk would bring in higher returns. This occurs because the smaller firms are usually not very popular hence; there are not many investors that are interested in the stock consequently, the share price would be relatively low, giving it room to perform better. On the other hand, firms with larger market cap are traded often due to investor s interest, causing their share price to be high. Evidence of this can be found in a report issued by a research company Duff and Phelps (2013). It shows that in a 30 year period, small companies has out performed large companies 92% of the time, further proving that size factor plays a huge part in evaluating the returns of a ... The article, The Lowell Work Force primarily discussed what type of people, predominately women, worked in the Lowell mill. The information was neither new nor surprising for me. I had been to the Lowell Mill museum before and most the information there was in the article. The women were young women, from farming families, not yet married and mostly native born women, not immigrants. What did surprise me was why they chose to work. I would have guessed that they worked to earn wages to send home to help support their families, yet, that was rarely the case. Moving away did lighten the family burden; however, that is not why these women left. They moved to work in a factory so they could earn wages and use them for nonessential things, things that they wanted, not needed. At the age of nineteen, I moved out of my parents house. Becoming independent for the first time was great. My first apartment was small; it had a one bedroom, and my rent was affordable. After a few hours passed he woke up and could feel the chills of the night. He walked to an opening in the area and saw a figure that seemed to be a large animal. He thought it might be a dog or a pig, maybe even a bear, but he could not name it. They were men, they were soldiers. They did nothing like humans would do. They crawled, they only used their knees and not their arms. Some layed motionless, they were dead. Nothing at all about them was human. He thought they were like his father s slaves that he had ridden before making believe they were his horses. He got on top of one of the men and immediately the man flung him off. The man turned and lacked a jaw. His throat was a big red gap with flesh hanging down. The man shook his fist at the child finally making him run away. Then a fire beyond the belt of the woods suffused the whole landscape. On the boys way back he realized the fire was burning down his own home. • 29. Ethics, Unnatural Laws, By Arthur A. Leff Part One: Summary In the article Unspeakable Ethics, Unnatural Laws, Arthur A. Leff took an agnostic approach when determining what morality should be comprised of. He suggested that humans struggle with desiring to follow a predetermined and unchallengeable set of moral rules, while at the same time wanting the autonomy to create those rules. If ethical rules are preordained, they would need to come from a supernatural being that was unruled, unjudged, and beyond question: God. If God exists, we are created to fit into His system and should therefore abide by His rules. God dictates the laws of the world through what Leff refers to as performative utterances . These utterances are essentially His will made into reality via His command. Performative utterances are the act of God creating the rules that govern the world. He is the only being who has the capacity to do this without facing the inevitable says who mentality. This sort of attitude ensues when beings of equal rank differ in their opinions of what is right and what is wrong, with no overarching authority. It is this problem in particular that leads philosophers to despair; if there is no God, there is no steady ethical or legal system that can be put into place. There is nothing more correct or more flawed than anything else. There will never be progress, as you cannot progress from something you cannot deem to be less suitable. For those of you who aren t aware, essentially this has been a question in philosophical thought for many centuries. The intermediate (morphologically significantly different) creatures between species are listed as the number variants on Figure 11. For example, in the dog species we could hypothetically consider the first dog as creature d1 and the American Bulldog (one of the most recent dog breeds to come into existence) as d5 which is then going to go on to develop a new species e (obviously this has not happened [yet?!]). The higher the number, the closer the creature is to becoming the next species. For example, creature b7 is close to becoming a new species (species c). Remember, this is only a hypothetical depiction for explanation purposes in evolutionary theory it is presumed there would be many, many more intermediate creatures between the two distinct species, but for purposes of our explanation, this makes no difference. Now, species differentiation can be clearly separated by an objective and binary measurement, namely the ability to reproduce. Either you can reproduce with another creature or you cannot there is no in between whereby you can partially reproduce with them. If you are the same species, you can reproduce; if you are different species, you cannot reproduce. Obviously, it is clear to see that creature b7 is still a member of the b species and therefore technically should be able to reproduce with any member of the b species all the way down to creature b1. However, the morphological differences between b1 and b7 are going to be much greater than that between b7 and c1, meaning it makes no sense why b1 and b7 can reproduce but b7 and c1 cannot. You cannot say the theoretical ability to reproduce gradually reduces as species get more advanced and get closer to becoming the next species this would be non sensical. Similarly, we cannot say that creature b7 can reproduce with creature c1 as this would defy the principal that different species cannot reproduce. So, there is this strange ... • 43. The Cardiovascular System From The National Nutrition Of... This paper will examine the possible consequences on the cardiovascular system from the national nutrition of Kazakhstan. I choose this topic for research since I have the personal interest in the food I eat and I am contemplating the disciplines in medicine, particularly cardiology or cardio surgery. So, choosing this topic might enhance my knowledge in these areas that can help me to stand out from other candidates. Moreover, during my work experience in a cardiologycenter, I had many questions but they still have not answered yet, hence doing this project I am planning to find the answers for them. My first and the main question was the reason the Kazakh nation has tremendous problems with the hearthealth. Another one was why most of the patients lying in the clinic are males who are in age and overweight. These questions seem to be obvious but it was before I went to do A level and I can say that I knew nothing about the heart. Although, now I have broad knowledge about this topic I want to extend them and imply it to my culture and traditions. Therefore, I proposed a hypothesis Kazakh national food has a deleterious effect on the cardiovascular systemand it is the major cause of death from the cardiovascular diseases . So, the purpose of this research is to confirm or refute this hypothesis and try to identify to what extent traditional meals influence the development of cardiovascular diseases. The heart and circulatory system make up the cardiovascular system. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. E-Commerce and the Global Market Electronic commerce (e commerce) over the Internet is the fastest growing method for consumers to conduct business. Less than ten years old and it already has radically altered the potential to economic activities and the social environment. There are nearly 200 million Internet users worldwide currently. Of these 200 million users, roughly 40 percent reside in the United States (Styliano, A., Robbins, S. Jackson, P., 2003). E commerce currently affects large sectors such as communications, banking and the retail industry. E commerce has also had an effect on the education, health and government (Wyckoff, A., Colecchia A., 1999). It is predicted that commerce on the Internet could total tens of billions of dollars by the turn of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There have been some negative effects on the economy due to the emergence of e commerce. It is assumed that the availability of goods online should increase competition but this does not always occur. Reputable companies who have majority control over their industry can sometimes maintain high prices. Further, the Internet allows companies to obtain pricing information from their competitors companies easily and allows them to react immediately to external changes. Company monitoring can also work against consumers. Since other companies can quickly change their price, the original company would not make any extra revenue from increased sales (LaRose, R.,2000). There is also the issue of product differentiation. Increased competition due to ecommerce allows companies to better create products especially for a certain target audience. This makes it difficult for consumers to compare products and lessens the competition and keep prices high. As electronic commerce expands it has a greater social impact. The social impact of e commerce is characterized by the globalization of markets, the shift towards an economy based on knowledge and information, and the growing prominence of technology in everyday life (Jones, B., n.d.). As e commerce expands, there becomes a greater need to improve education about the business and technical side of e commerce. Traditional educational institutions will have to ... • 45. Analysis Of Michael Patrick King s The City Franchise Second edition of Sex in the City franchise by director Michael Patrick King, the girls are settling into their 40 s or in Samantha s case her 50 s. Each gal is still looking fabulous but needing a break from the doldrums of daily life, they are invited to Abu Dhabi to experience the newest hotel in hopes that Samantha s PR firm will endorse it. The bulk of the movie follows the ladies on their awkward vacation in the rigid Middle Eastand the life lessons learned there. Sex in the City 2 misses the mark in its latest attempt at the box office by choosing the location of Abu Dhabi of the United Arab Emirates, scripting a lazy floundering plot line and a movie length that could have been trimmed by more than a few minutes. The first and greatest downfall of this movie is simply the location. Sending the fully liberated girls to Abu Dhabi is just a stupid mistake for two reasons. First, it s 2010 and America is at war in Afghanistan and Iraq, and so why the writers chose another Muslim country to send their main characters to on a vacation is beyond me. In a time when we have so many of our brothers and sisters fighting in wars in the Middle East, to glorify Abu Dhabi as a vacation location can be considered by many as offensive. Second, if the creators were looking for exotic locations, there are many other places to be found? Paris may not be exotic but it is fashionable and far enough away to be exotic to Holly Housewife who is shelling out the eight dollars to see ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Importance of Booster Seats and Seat Belts In 2011 there were 650 deaths of children who were not properly buckled or in a car seat when riding in a vehicle, with the use of a booster that could have been extremely reduced. • 49. The Quality Of Language Input And Early Onset Effects On... The two previous studies exemplify that the quality of language input and early onset has significant effects on linguistic and sub linguistic mechanisms. It calls into question whether input quality is predictive of later sign language skills in deaf education program settings. In spoken languages, the quality and quantity of language input is predictive of a child s later linguistic abilities (Cartmill et al., 2013). However, most deaf children entering education have hearing parents, creating a barrier to language development. Many deaf programs support bilingual philosophies in which the basis of English is also taught in order to facilitate communication between the deaf and non deaf communities (Murphy Swiller, 2014). Leah Nicole Murphy Swiller (2014) investigates input quality within deaf education settings using American Sign Language (ASL). She hypothesizes that deaf participants learning language through slightly different modalities will differ in their ASL receptive skills and their comprehension of English grammar knowledge, even after educational instruction. This is done by comparing approximately one hundred and forty nine 4 and 5 year old deaf children at schools in 26 states across the United States of America. The deaf children are divided into three groups: those with ASL as their first language (L1), English as their L1, and those who spoke a sign supported English. These groups are compared to a control group of same aged hearing peers. All children ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. An Analysis Of Flowers For Algernon Flowers for Algernon is a very intriguing novel about Charlie Gordon, a mentally challenged adult. Throughout the novel, there are numerous references to Carlie s past with his family. His past intelligence is what primarily causes him to undergo his treatment. However, his past relationship with his family, prominently his mother, alter his abilities to develop emotional connections. His newfound intelligence also complicates his abilities to reconnect with his family and friends from before. Therefore, Charlie s past had a very powerful influence on Charlie during and after the experiment. During the experiment, Charlie s intelligence level heavily influences how he is treated. Before he becomes an intellectual, Charlie is treated with great disrespect by his acquaintances. Charlie s coworkers used the phrase pulling a Charlie Gordon quite often when insulting another coworker. They use this term to describe a person as unintelligent, or stupid, much like they label Charlie. Initially, Charlie does not understand what the term means, but as he becomes smarter, he does, and it upsets him greatly. Charlie s change of opinions affects his relationships and bonds. Before Charlie went through the experiment, he believes his coworkers, Frank and Joe, are his best friends, as they take him to parties with them. As Charlie progresses, he realizes they only keep him around to embarrass him, and for a good laugh. (4) Suddenly, during his progression, Charlie s co workers take a ...
