Argumentative Essay Example For College
Writing an argumentative essay, particularly on a topic like "Argumentative Essay Example For
College," can be a challenging yet rewarding task. The difficulty lies not only in presenting a
compelling argument but also in structuring the essay effectively to convey your ideas
coherently. Here are some aspects that contribute to the complexity:
1. Research: Crafting a solid argument requires thorough research to gather relevant
information, statistics, and examples to support your claims. This can be time-consuming
and may involve sifting through numerous sources to find credible and up-to-date data.
2. Critical Thinking: Constructing a persuasive argument demands critical thinking skills.
You need to analyze different perspectives, anticipate counterarguments, and develop
responses to strengthen your position. This process can be intellectually demanding and
requires a keen understanding of the topic.
3. Organization: The structure of an argumentative essay is crucial. It involves arranging
your ideas logically, developing a clear thesis statement, and ensuring each paragraph
contributes to the overall coherence of the essay. Poor organization can lead to a lack of
clarity and impact.
4. Writing Style: Achieving a balance between a formal, academic tone and engaging
writing can be challenging. Crafting sentences that are clear, concise, and compelling
requires skill and practice.
5. Revision and Editing: A well-written essay is often the result of multiple drafts and
revisions. Editing your work to refine your arguments, improve clarity, and eliminate
errors is a meticulous process that demands time and attention to detail.
Despite these challenges, the process of writing an argumentative essay can also be an
opportunity for personal and academic growth. It allows you to delve deep into a subject, hone
your research and analytical skills, and articulate your thoughts effectively.

Essay on Case East Penn Bank
Activity Based Costing in the
Service Sector:
The East Penn Bank
ABSTRACT: This case illustrates why a major segment of the service sector banks
needs accurate cost information to make strategic decisions, and how more refined
accounting systems help fulfill this need.
East Penn Bank is a hypothetical bank that has suffered falling profits despite a shift
in customer base toward retail customers, which the current information system
reports are more profitable than business customers. Following a stepby step
approach, you will develop the Bank s average cost of serving a retail customer
account and a business customer account, under (1) the Bank s traditional single
allocation base system, and (2) a (pilot test) activity based costing ... Show more

The bank allocates these indirect costs to either the retail customer line or the
business customer line, based on the total dollar value of checks processed (which
is readily available because each branch must provide the dollar values of daily
transactions for internal control). For the current period East Penn processed a total of
$95 million in checks, of which $9.5 million was written by retail customers, and
$85.5 million was written by business customers. This costing approach was fairly
typical of banks and other financial institutions at the time East Penn developed its
cost system.
In college, Erik learned about an alternative costing approach called activitybased
costing (ABC). However, the examples he remembered involved manufacturing
firms. He wondered whether East Penn could develop an ABC system, with the
business account customer line and the retail account customer line as the two
primary cost objects. Erik approached Rob Garrison with this suggestion.
Rob was skeptical, exclaiming, Our profits are going down the tubes and you want
me to spend money developing a new accounting system? However, Erik persisted,
and Rob eventually authorized a pilot ABC study using three local branches of the
bank.
The ABC implementation team included Erik, the managers of each of the three bank
branches, a bank teller, and a representative from the customer
Modern Film On Our Rational And Critical Thought
Processes
Frankfurt School philosophers fiercely debated the effects of modern film on our
rational and critical thought processes. Max Horkheimer and Theodor Adorno assert
film is an oppressive technology that makes us intellectually docile, while Walter
Benjamin contests their assertion by recognizing film s liberatory potential. Although
Horkheimer and Adorno make important points about the current relationship
between film and the masses, they fail to acknowledge any possible changes to it. In
the context of futurity, Benjamin presents a convincing argument the technology of
film can create subjectivities that will help the masses assimilate into modernity.
Horkheimer and Adorno s understanding of film reflects our current reality. Although
Benjamin acknowledges film s current state, he envisions a future where film trains
us to cope with the pressures of modernity. In The Culture Industry: Enlightenment as
Mass Deception, Horkheimer and Adorno argue film oppresses our ability to think
critically. They base their argument on how culture today is infecting everything with
sameness (Horkheimer 94). That is, the ubiquitous nature of film infects everyone
with identically diseased notions. The connotations of infection are clear: affliction,
contamination, and disorder. For Horkheimer and Adorno, the infection (film created
by the bourgeois cultural elite) forces us into a state of mental lethargy the masses
uniformly accept film content with little resistance
Internal Identity Conflicts In Lord Furnival, By Nathaniel...
Crispin s identity is something that he struggles with throughout the book. At the
beginning of the book, his name is Asta s son since he lives with his mother and
never knew his father. He grew up with no personal name and little dignity because
he and his mother were so poor. Later, he becomes the servant of Bear and finds out
he is the son of LordFurnival, the Lord of his small villageand various others
throughout England. Simply because of the fact he is Lord Furnival s son, he is
sought to be silenced and killed. At the end of the book, he chooses to become what
he wants to really be, a free man who decides where his own path will take him.
Crispin realizes that he ultimately decides who he will serve while doing what action.
The social restrictions that previously bind him are cut off and he begins his new life.
The picture with the question mark in the man s head represents the internal identity
conflict.
When John Aycliffe, the steward from Crispin s village, declares Crispin a wolf s
head, it becomes legal for anyone to kill Crispin. Whoever spots him, may kill him
and reap a monetary award. Crispin does not realize until the end of the book why
he is to be killed. Much conflict of the book stems from the escaping and dodging
of men searching for Crispin. He always has the fear that he will be spotted in one
of the towns while he and Bear are performing. His fears become true when he is
spotted in Great Wexley. The picture used to represent this key event in the

Hysteria And Its Effects On Society
Hysteria, as stated by Dinwiddie, has been traced back to the Hippocratic School of
medicine, perhaps even as far back as ancient Egypt. Hysteria is when psychological
conflict is turned into physical symptoms, such as when a patient complains of
symptoms for which no clear physical cause. Somatization disorder has often been
linked with hysteria in the same ways that hypochondriasishas, however these two
diseases are not the same. In the past hypochondriasis was thought to be a
somatization disorder, but has since been re classified as an anxiety disorder by the
DSM IV (Ehrlich, 2013). A somatization disorder is a chronic condition in which a
person has physical symptoms involving multiple body parts that have no physical
cause, it is currently one of the hardest diseases to diagnose. To be diagnosed with
somatization disorder, a person must have four pain symptoms, two gastrointestinal
symptoms, one sexual symptoms, and one psuedoneurological symptom (Medina).
Diagnostic criteria states that a person must exhibit these symptoms for at least six
months, however these symptoms do not have to occur throughout the entire
duration. Along with these symptoms a diagnosismust adhere to one of the following.
After investigation the symptoms cannot be fully explained by a medical condition,
and when there is a related medical condition, the symptoms must exceed what is to
be expected from laboratory findings (Dinwiddie, 2013). To understand what
contributes to a diagnosis, one
Teepee In North America
A History of the Teepee in North America
Teepees, also known as tepees or tipis are a native American home used and
constructed by the plains Indians of North America. Although not thought to be the
invention of the plains Indian, that honour reputedly goes to the Indians of the
Northern forests, they did further develop them and are the most famous dwellers in
them. It is thought the earliest use of the teepee by plains Indians was around the
seventeenth century.
Teepees and plains Indians such as the Sioux nation, Arapaho, crow, Cheyenne,
Omaha, Osage and Blackfoot tribes were most commonly found on the broad
expanse of prairie and steppe which lies east of the Rocky mountains in the USA.

Buffalo, sometimes bison or elk skin was brought by the man after hunting for the
exterior and poles were either made by him or traded for. It was quite usual to pay
a horse for five poles. Trees were scarce on the plains so poles were a rare and
valuable commodity. During cold weather the men also placed an extra piece of
hide around the top of the teepee to keep warmth in. Having fires in the centre of
these dwellings meant the need for an escape for the smoke, and a hole was left at
the top of the tent for this purpose. These teepees could often be between twelve and
twenty feet tall so placing the extra skin was no easy feat. The men also, with
permission of their wives painted the exterior of the teepees. This was usually done
during winter when hunting was limited. Scenes depicted usually included animals,
historical battles, celestial bodies and personal
The Impact Of Innovation On Nursing Education Essay
The impact of innovation in nursing education is essential in order to provide
competent nurses during the nursing shortage. Upon review of Craven Community
College s curriculum (CCC), it was noted that peer mentoring could be utilized in
order to decrease anxiety and increase confidence in nursing students. Peer mentoring
has been defined as a planned relationship between a more experienced person and a
less experienced person with the purpose of achieving identified outcomes. In a peer
mentoring relationship, the mentor and mentee are similar in terms of age and status
(Hunt Ellison, 2010). This relationship could foster collaboration and a spirit of
inquiry. It is consistent with the situated learningtheory and provides opportunities to
develop teamwork and collaboration strategies (Botma, Hurter Kotze, 2012). There
are benefits for the mentee as well as the mentor. Upon literature review, it was noted
that effective mentoring can contribute toward a positive learning environment and
valuable learning experiences (Botma, Hurter Kotze, 2012). A long standing concern
among nursing faculty has been the large number of students that a clinical faculty
member is responsible for during a clinical experience and faculty time for adequate
supervision and attention (Bagnardi, 2011). Peer mentoring is a strategy that has
been used in the clinical setting. A major role of the mentor is to assist and
encourage students to link theory to practice in a practical setting
The City s Love, By Lucille Clifton
The love affair between a city and the people who reside there can be influential in a
person s life. Cities share a relationship with their residents and the residents start to
ponder about their emotional relationship with their homes. In in the inner city by
Lucille Clifton, the speaker thinks of uptown and how different it is compared to her
home, the inner city. The speaker sees how unique the inner city is and takes pride
in her home. In The City s Love by Claude McKay the speaker experiences a brief
moment of acceptance by the city. Both Clifton and McKay s poem both illustrate
joy towards a city. The connotation used to describe their joy allows the reader to see

In The City s Love , McKay uses imagery such as similes to depict how appreciative
and satisfied the speaker is. In the first lines the reader can infer that the moment
that the speaker is talking about is uncommon and treasures his experience: For
one brief golden moment rare like wine, The gracious city swept across the line; (l.

golden because he was used to the mistreatment in a different far more
discriminatory city. This city shows affection towards him making the speaker
forget that he is different from the majority The gracious city swept across the line;
Oblivious of the color of my skin, Forgetting that I was an alien guest, (l. 2 4). Even
though the speaker has experienced hate from another society he ends up finding a
city that seems to give the speaker affection, which reveals the loving relationship the

Weight And Activity Analysis
Weight and Activity Level I have been overweight most of my life. As a child I
was overweight but during my early teen years as I grew, I began to lean out. I
was able to maintain a healthy weight throughout middle school but when I began
working during high school I had less time to exercise so I started to, again, gain
weight. Since then I have consistently stayed between 200 and 210 pounds which
puts me in the obese category with a BMI of 32. Luckily, taking physical
education as a requirement to graduate has forced me to get in some exercise that I
otherwise wouldn t find time to do and has driven me to want to continue. I
currently take a weight training class that meets twice a week for a total of two and
a half hours each week.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After learning about U.L. and the toxicity effects it can cause, I think that sticking to
a good well rounded diet is crucial. Other than the multi vitamin the only other type
of supplement I use on occasion is egg white protein that I put in my smoothies.
Self Evaluation
I think that I have done alright in my daily eating in the sense that I know what the
best way for me to get my fruits and vegetables into my diet. I eat plenty of protein
and healthy fats which help with satiety and maintaining a healthy heart. Taking
the weight training class has helped me too because it has encouraged me to work
out more. Doing weight bearing exercises is good for bone health as well as
keeping a good muscle mass. Even though I know what I should and should not
eat, I still have a hard time making sure to eat things in moderation. When
something that I eat or drink is especially good I tend to eat more than I should,
which contributes to a higher calorie intake than I should. That, paired with the fact
that if I get off of my exercise routine it is hard to get back on, is keeping me from
losing body fat and keeping a healthy
Theme Of Oppression In The House On Mango Street
Quick, there is a murder on the loose who only kills people wearing a blue coat.
What s the first thing you do? Do you wear your blue coat in defiance of the blue
coat killer? I mean, who is some murder to tell you what you can and cannot
wear?Do you hide it, I mean there s a murder so it common sense, right? But what
if you couldn t hide them? Now imagine that the blue coat killer is a euphemism for
the oppression in our society, and the blue coats are the things being oppressed in
people, whether it be race, genderor class. Some oppressed people wanted to fight
the oppression, like the people who would wear coats in defiance, while others
would try and hide away the things that were oppressed, like there class or their...

By instilling the belief of the worthlessness of a woman in the women, it is easier to
take advantage and to get them to be compliant with the life that saddens them.
Esperanza says, She looked out the window her whole life, the way so many
women sit their sadness on an elbow (Cisnero 11). Consequently, this implies that
women have to watch out the window as the world goes on without them. They
have to watch their lives pass by without them. This reality depresses the women of
Mango Street, because they had to give up their hopes and dreams solely because
they were women. Many of the women are still young, but were forced into
marriages by societal expectations. Esperanza says, Rafaela, who is still young, but
is getting old from leaning out the window so much, gets locked indoors because
her husband is afraid Rafaela will run away since she is too beautiful to look at
(Cisnero 79). While this implies that women were depressed with their situations, it
also implies that the men in this society have final say and ultimate rule in the
home. The role of women in society is to listen to the men and do whatever they are
instructed to do. Now, Esperanza doesn t plan on taking these societal expectations
laying down, and with the support of her community, she can make her dreams come
true. She has hopes and dreams that she intends to fulfill, no matter what others want
from or for her. She will have get own house, her own job, and her own life,
Essay on The Simpsons
The Simpsons
The Simpsons is an original, satirical American sitcom cartoon, which is shown all
over the world and appeals to a wide range of audiences with its unique, yet basic
form of humour. It stereotypes and satirises the typical American lower middle class
family. With its simple plots, exaggerated situations, unrealistic scenarios, lurid
colours, humour, animation and familiar pattern, it is a typical cartoon but with an
original twist. This makes it like no other cartoon made before, the twist is the level
of humour used in the Simpsons, and this type of humour is called satire. There are
many other types of humour involved in the Simpsons, but satire plays a large role in

Marge is also like Wilma in that they are both housewives, really care for their
children and aspire to be the perfect wife. Another thing that has linked on is that
quite often the naming of the families is used as the name of the show/programme
for example, The Simpsons, The Jetsons and the Flintstones.
The Flintstones did a spin off series and created a different sitcom that was almost
identical to the jokes and the theme, but it was set in the space age.
The only way that Flintstones and the Jetsons are different to the way in which the
Simpsons works, is the type of humour used. The Simpsons humour is a lot more
complex and has clever jokes; it satirises and makes a joke about political, literary,
and cultural values of Americaand the rest of the world. Whereas the Flintstones
and Jetsons just make a joke about the time which they are set in (stone age and
space age) and the artefacts they use and twist them to be funny. For example in the
Flintstones they use a lawn mower which is really a pterodactyl which cuts the grass
and speaks. This is why the Simpsons is revolutionary, also because no cartoon
sitcom has ever been done of just satirising the typical American
The Marketing Model Canvas As An Analytical Framework
Critique
Our group has used the Business Model Canvas as an analytical framework to
evaluate The Fun Center and generate recommendations to further improve the
delivery of its value proposition. The Fun Center aims to provide children with an
exciting and safe place to have fun by providing an array of arcade games, food
and beverages, and event hosting. We made no changes to the general premise of
the Business Plan, but rather we fine tuned the aspects we felt lacked clarity. The
gaps that we originally identified in the first version of the Business Plan were minor
and posed little threat to the company s overall success. However, we felt that The
Fun Center s lack of distinctiveness would limit the company in terms of potential
growth. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Recommendation 1: Market to Children and Parents
Our analysis of the Business Model Canvas has revealed a minor hole in the channels
section. We feel as though the company s business plan failed to account for a very
significant customer segment: kids. Currently, marketing is directed towards
arcade enthusiasts and middle to upper class adults. The hope is that parents will
be intrigued by the company s value and bring their children to the arcade.
However, considering that the value proposition seeks to serve children ages 5 12
as a target customer segment, the Business Model Canvas would suggest that a
channel should exist to directly connect The Fun Center s value to children. In
addition to advertising to adults with traditional methods, we recommend that The
Fun Center also market directly to children in order to improve reputation and
garner more interest. For example, advertising The Fun Center on children s shows
and radio stations will communicate to children in ways that are already familiar
and comfortable to them. According to small business advice from Hearst
newspapers, it would cost 200 to 1,500 dollar to commercially advertise The Fun
Center on a local station, a small investment for a large long term benefit (Wagner,
2015). In in the same way they react to new toys and cereal, they will ask their

The Importance Of Archetype In Today s Culture
Throughout the season of winter, a yellow zesty fruit blossoms from a tree with
thorny branches and white flowers with purple edges. This yellow citrus fruit is
known as a lemon. In today s culture, lemons are used for food, skin, hair, cleanings,
and are even featured in an iconic American singer s album. You do not necessarily
eat a lemonas a whole. It is usually ingested by cutting it either in half or in pieces,
and squeezed for its juice. The acidic juice from a lemon has a very sour and bitter
taste but it is enjoyed by many. Adding lemon to a plate changes its whole flavor.

Death In The Book Thief By Markus Zusak
In The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, Death tells a story about humans from his point
of view. This provides a unique point of view for the reader to understand the story of
Liesel. Death often speaks of the horrible things that humans do to each other, but he
just as often speaks of the beauty of human life. Throughout the lives of the
characters, the effect of other characters love and hate is evident. From the moment
Liesel arrived on Himmel Street, she was shown love by Hans, and Hans shows
kindness to everyone throughout the novel. On the other hand, Hitler and the Nazis
despised the Jews and other minorities. They beat them, imprison them, torture them,

Theodore Roosevelt s First Progressive President
Theodore Roosevelt is considered by many to be America s first progressive
president due to his conservationism, his military prowess, and the natural ease with
which he handled national and worldwide politics. He had a vision for the place he
wanted America to be, a courage that made him admirable, and a jovial attitude that
made people love him. Not only did he take steps to make the office of president
more important than it once was, he tried to do so in ways that were important. One
of these ways was by protecting the natural beauty of America so that it would not be
entirely depleted before it could replenish itself. Another way was by proving his
leadership, his bravery, and his dedication to complete the task at hand in the military.
His struggle for equality in his nation and international peace also show his
determination to make the world better. These points prove that Theodore Roosevelt
had his eyes set on the future and was determined to move toward it.
Conservationism, the preservation and protection of natural resources, is something
that Roosevelt frequently stressed the importance of during his presidency. Roosevelt
believed that the government had a responsibility to take care of the nation s
environment, so he worked to create many parks, agencies, and acts to do so ( The
Theodore Roosevelt Administrations. ). The President even said, ...natural resources
are not limited by the boundary lines which separate nations, and that need for
conserving them upon

Overview of the College Process The college process is a stressful meatgrinder
that, at the same time, crushes and fulfills the dreams of millions upon millions of
students each year. Never before have I seen such a calculated and corrupt system.
For instance, universities have set up a monopolistic empire that is free to price
discriminate at will, and society, along with our government, perpetuates this
standard along with other equally revolting standards. Why have we supported it?
Because the job market now stipulates that every new employee must have a shiny
college degree regardless of the job s actual qualifications. Furthermore, colleges
seem to have little regard for their prospective students. Each institution demands
three or more essays, and they act as if students are not taking classes at the same
time. Next year I will be, most likely, taking seven advanced placement classes
because that is necessary for admission into this nation s most prestigious
universities, yet my studies are hampered by the same question stated in an
infinite amount of ways, What makes you right for our school? This is not how
the college process should be, but we are all too busy writing 250 500 word
meaningless essays, essays that simply answer cliche questions that could be asked
in an interview and answered in two to three sentences, to see what the college
process could be. My Personal Goals My dream school is Georgetown University, but

whether culture bound syndromes are indicative of one or more possibilities that

ways in which individuals from different cultures express mental illness, as well as
reflecting different ways in which the social and cultural environment interact with
genes to produce disorders, or any combination of these. (pp. 101) With the
following information in mind, it should be noted that not all disorders are
considered pathological; some behaviors are seen as ways of expressing and
communicating distress to members of a certain culture and are seen as culturally
accepted responses (APA, 1994). In fact, cultures experience, express, and cope with
feelings of distress in various ways that may counter what Western societies see as
common. Furthermore, at times these cultural differences are

their goals are before it is possible to implement an effective safety management

techniques that have been developed through years of research, it is possible to

Essay on The Success and Failure of the New Deal
The New Deal The United States encountered many ordeals during the Great
Depression (1929 1939). Poverty, unemployment and despair clouded the American
Dream and intensified the urgency for solutions to address and control the
nationwide damage. President Franklin Roosevelt proposed the New Deal to

With troubling incidents like the stock market crash of 1929, reform was highly
necessary to never have a relapse of these events in the future. Historian Allan
Nevins says that the New Deal was the epiphany the government needed to possess
greater responsibility for the economic welfare of its citizens. It made the
government initiate attempts to reorganize the economic turmoil and restore the
people s faith in banking system which was successful with the Emergency
Banking Relief Act and Bank Holiday. Congress allotted for the Treasury
Department to weed out the unfit banks and reopen the stable banks, significantly
lowering bank failures. Especially with measures like the Glass Steagall Act it
offered assurance and insurance to citizens with a compensation of 5,000 dollars in
the case of an inconvenience of their bank and since the creation of the FDIC there
were no incidents in which a depositor has lost its insured funds. Many of the
legislations passed under the Reform point remained for fifty years to prove the
reliability and effectiveness like the Securities and Exchange Commission that
regulated stock market activities and prevented another large scale crash to occur,

The Threat Against Sea Turtles
There are over 1 million known species of plants and animals that in habit the plant
s oceans, and scientist estimate that there are over 9 million more species that
have yet to be discovered. Those numbers seem to have great value, but when put
in perspective there are only 7 species of sea turtles in the vast ocean, those
numbers don t seem so big after all. Even more so when you say all 7 species are on
the endangered list of extinction. One of the biggest threat against seaturtles, and all
other oceanic life, is the pollution crisis of plastics, glass, and all other trash. But as
long as people dump their trash in the oceans, and it doesn t violate the government s
dumping regulations, then it s perfectly http://i.imgur.com/foQcVja.jpg legal.
Without breaking any laws, people will always continue to do it and the ocean will
continue to suffer because of it. On the other side of dumping trash into the oceans
scientist are gathering huge amounts of data on how we re killing the oceans and
everything that lives in it. That is why we must come to our senses and use the
common ground of finding a new way to dispose of trash and help rebuild the oceans
to sustain life on the planet. When it comes to pollution in the oceans people
automatically think that they re talking about glass, trash, and plastic. However, The
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) team has collaborated to
discuss just how exactly does the ocean get so polluted around the mainlands.
Argumentative Essay On Body Image
It s true that we shouldn t judge people off their physical appearances, but it s just
in our human nature to do it. Whether it s a stranger on the street or a close family
member, we are always judging them from our first glance at them. In this day and
age, where more than half of the population uses some type of media, we can see an
increase in the importance of body image. Body image is how a person perceives
their own body. It can be perceived positively or negatively through many factors
some of which are, social factors, cultural factors, and a person s own experiences.
Gender and race play roles in the way body image is perceived as well. Even if a
person feels confident with their body image, society believes that there is always...

It is seen more in females compared to males, but studies have shown that both
genders can be equally hurt by social media. This doesn t mean that social media
directly impacts body image, but that there s a strong correlation between the two.
Another type of media is the magazine. It is a little bit outdated in these times, but
magazines have contributed in shaping body image. Magazine covers usually have
these thin photoshopped women and lean muscular men promoting beauty
products or exercise plans. They reel you in with bolded words saying Get
Shredded in a Few Days! , or 5 Must Have Beauty Products . There is a sense of
control and power when we can manipulate our bodies. An example is dieting, of
course all these athletes and models like to talk about their bodies and diets, but we
are different from them. They have specific meal plans to accommodate their body.
Wrong dieting can cause eating disorders and can be extremely harmful to our
bodies. We fall into the trap of eating less to be skinnier and at the same time,
society is praising us for wanting to look skinny. With more differences between us
and these ideals, the more we become insecure and critical of our body image. Even
though many companies promote the skinny, toned models, there are other growing
companies that are starting to promote different body shapes and sizes. An example
is a clothing brand called Dear Kate , they did their own underwear campaign

The Miracle of Feeding the 5000 Essay
The first thing that one needs to understand is the true meaning of the miracles
Jesus performed, even though the Devil does not want us to understand the
meaning. He loves when we speculate and question. In the Bible, miracles are often
referred to as signs. Miracles are acts that only God can be responsible for, usually
above and beyond natural laws. Baker s Dictionary of the Bible defines a miracle as
Synthesizing the root connotations of these terms, we may define a miracle
biblically as an observable phenomenon effected by the direct operation of God s
power, an arresting deviation from the ordinary sequences of nature, a deviation

Jesus also performed a miracle of feeding four thousand (Matthew 15: 32, Mark 8:
1), which is much like the miracle of Jesus feeding the five thousand. There were
many more astonishing acts performed by the wondrous miracle worker, Jesus. The
coin in the fish s mouth, walking on the water, and raising of Lazarus from the dead,
are just a minute amount, out of approximately thirty six. The miracle of Jesus
feeding the five thousand is just one of the many.
Feeding of the multitude is the only miracle besides the resurrection that is present
in all four of the Gospels; Matthew 14: 13 21, Mark 6: 31 44, Luke 9: 10 17, and
John 6: 1 15. Jesus performed this miracle of feeding the multitude of five thousand,
with only five barley loaves of bread and two fish. The basic meaning of all four
gospels is the same with a few slight differences. The amount of five thousand did not
include the women or children. According to John A Broadus, the number of these
(woman and children) was probably small in proportion to the men, for otherwise
Mark, Luke, and John would hardly have omitted to mention them.
Matthew and Mark have the most similar writings in regards to this miraculous act,
besides a few minor things. Matthew writes that Jesus feels pity for them and cures
the sick but Mark on the other hand does write that Jesus feels pity, but does not
mention healing the sick. In Matthew, the people heard the ship
Pitching Under Pressure
Perfect Pitching Under Pressure There are two outs in the bottom of the ninth of the
World Series; the team in the field is up by one and the best hitter is coming up the
plate. The pitcher takes a deep breath and realizes what had to be done. Three strikes
and the game was over, but that seemed an eternity away with the overwhelming
pressure mounting. How could the pitchermove past the pressure and get the last out?
The answer would more than likely surprise most people. It is common knowledge
that the pitcher must physically be in the right positions to throw a strike, but it is
quite the opposite for the mental side of pitching. The mental aspect plays a much
larger factor than most people would presume and in reality, it is just as important...

It is surprisingly common for a pitcher who is having problems outside the sport
that would affect their mental health to see a decrease in their in sport
performance. In her article on PsychologyToday.com, Laura Miele says in general
Negative external or internal psychological factors can lead to mental blocks,
causing breaks in focus and preparation, poor performance and, at times, injuries to
the athlete. The most basic example of this would be some non sport related
activity or interaction that would distract the pitcher during play. As stated earlier
in the essay, focus on throwing strikes is of paramount importance in order to be
successful and any activity or interaction that would take that focus away would be
a distraction that would affect performance. In addition, an overall feeling of
depression would greatly affect a pitchers well being in and outside of the sport. As
was also stated earlier, pitchers must have confidence in themselves and their ability
and depression is in one faced a lowered self confidence. Depression and anxiety
commonly go hand in hand and together or alone they can greatly influence sport
performance. One example of a baseball player who faced depression and saw a
drastic change in performance is Joey Votto, first basemen for the Cincinnati Reds.
He said in an interview with Bleacher Report during the 2009 season The stuff I
was dealing with off the field finally seeped its way into the game. After taking
time off from the game and getting his personal life in order, he came back to win
the NL MVP, the most valuable player award, the next year. It is very uncommon to
think of the impact that psychological problems can have on finding success in
pressure situations, but the evidence shows that the connection is clear and players
and coaches should be more aware of

In this piece of coursework I will be writing an essay on how women are
represented in media in general and also in the films Pretty Woman and Thelma and

In these two films women are represented as housewives/sex objects, for example in

Pretty Women is a fairy tale romance film. The reason why I have used this genre
type is because that it wasn t an complicated film, and also had an happy ending
where everyone ended up happy, and having what they wanted just like what would
of happened in a fairy tale story. Also in Pretty Woman they have used quite a lot of
stereotypes (judgement of someone that may not be true) to describe characters. For
example Vivien was dressed up like a prostitute and went into an expensive designer
clothes shop, where the workers told her to get out because they thought she didn t
have enough money for the clothes in there.
Thelma and Louise is about two main female characters who want to change there
lifestyles. One of the female characters murders her husband and does a runaway
with the other female character to start a new lifestyle. On this ran away they have
an adventures road trip, where lots of interesting things happen to them on their
way to their new lifestyle. Thelma and Louise is a feminist road movie film. The
reason why I have used this genre type is because the film is mainly taken on the
road, and also the women are after there rights and want to be treated equal. Also in
Thelma and Louise they haven t used as much stereotypes as they have used in Pretty
Woman because Thelma and Louise was a feminist film.

The Theme Of Death In Mid Term Break
Seamus Heaney conveys the theme of death effectively through an early death of a
family member, a 4 year old brother in this case. Mid Term Break is a first person
interpretation of the experience of facing death for the first time. Heaney takes
readers along the journey to accept the death of his brother. As he confronts death, he
realises how death can affect those he loves. In contrast, Emily Dickinson has put
death in the form of a gentleman suitor. Death is not described as a painful process
but completely tranquil and relaxing.
In Because I Could Not Stop for Death, death has been effectively shown as the
journey to afterlife, as a peaceful, gentle process into eternity. The opening stanza

Access to General Higher Education in Haryana: An Inter district Analysis
INTRODUCTION:
Higher Education occupies a centre stage in this era of knowledge; it acts as a
catalyst in promoting the acquisition of new knowledge and higher skills for
development of physical and human resources and for building an environment of
creative thinking and growth of individuality. There is general consensus that higher
education is one of the vital factors of national development, an important social
resource and means of reducing inequalities in the societies. Keeping in view the
important role of higher education in transforming the society into a more
enlightened, prosperous and civilized community, the Indian Governments (Central
State level both) and various Commissions Committees paid special attention towards
the growth and spread of higher education facilities in the country.
Though, Indian higher education system has grown tremendously both in terms of
size and diversity, yet there exist large disparities in the spread of higher educational
facilities across States/regions in India. Some States are educationally advanced
while others are relatively backward. Even within each State, some regions have
better educational facilities while others lag behind. The apex body i.e. University
Grants Commission identified 374 Educationally Backward Districts of India in 2009
with an aim to address the problem during the tenure of the Eleventh Five Year Plan.

show that same honor through their attendance. I also asked the event coordinator is
this the first Military band that has performed at the Frauenthal, and if not, how was

Lucy and Tumnus have a superb tea, however the faun begins sobbing uncontrollably

The World Cup allows countries to display their nationalism in supporting their

speak regardless of your religion, language, political views, and culture. The
objectivity of FIFA on picking the location of recent World Cups has brought FIFA
and its president Sepp Blatter under heavy criticism. FIFA has specifically been
criticized regarding the role of politics in objectively picking each World Cup s
location (Plaja, Steffi). Objectively picking a World Cup location requires specific
criteria for a location to be considered, some countries just do not have the
infrastructure among other criteria to host the World Cup. As a non governmental
organization, FIFA is required to hold a political objectivity when choosing the
location for each World Cup. Recent allegations of corruption in the location
selection process have brought FIFA s highest members under heavy criticism.
FIFA s current selection process allows countries who want to host the World Cup
to submit bids to FIFA. The bidding process allows for politics to become heavily
integrated into the overall selection process (Plaja, Steffi). Allowing countries to bid
for the ability to host the World Cup provides some countries with a significant
advantage over others to win the bid. FIFA s bidding process has allowed politics

Upon first glance of this image, a large shark is displayed that is enclosed in a
rectangular tunnel like space. It is unclear where exactly this space is located,
however it is most likely not in an aquarium because the space is too small and
there are no other fish, marine like organisms, or marine characteristics around the
shark. The shark is probably dead and preserved to be up on display because of the
way his mouth is open and because of the white paneling surrounding the space he
is confined to. Considering that the shark is in a museum, there must be something
remarkable or idiosyncratic about him, such as his size, breed, capabilities, or place
of death. Upon second glance of a more expansive display of this image, along with a

Human beings may attempt to understand his death and what it was like, however
could never really grasp or relate since their own death has not been reached. While
humans may mentally comprehend, relate to, and be able to view death of living
things around them, they are unable to completely know what it is physically like,
which is portrayed in Damien Hirst s work The Physical Impossibility of Death in the
Mind of Someone Living. The title of his work gives more meaning to the artwork
itself, which applies to titles of other pieces of art, poems, books, or movies, as
well. Many people say not to judge a book by its cover , which is actually partly
true. Giving the work a quick glance or just a look at the title is clearly not a fair
way to judge, however the title is important because it gives way to what the
creator was attempting to portray. The shark in the museum and its title both allow
people to decipher what the shark itself and the title mean in various ways;
however, if it was just the shark, the artist s purpose would definitely not be
depicted as well. At first glance, one may believe that the shark is in the museum
because of something special about him, such as his age or any other specialities.
Once the title is read, full meaning is given to the work and individuals see that the
artist actually created it to portray the reason that death is incomprehensible to living
individuals. The role of titles is not only important to

Foucault And Panopticon
Foucault and Freud on social control and discipline Foucault and Freud have
different views on what is needed to keep a civilization from going extinct. For
Foucault, the presence of a panopticon in a society will ensure discipline and the
power needed for a civilization to continue. On the other hand, Freud believes a
panopticonwill help build a strong civilization, but later will be its own destruction.
Although Foucault and Freud differ in their views of what the effect the panopticon
will bring, both agree that the panopticon is needed in order to enforce social control
and discipline in a civilization.

In many communities, one has to act normal in order to fit in the crowd, or else
they will be classified as abnormal and excluded from the community. As Foucault
states, On the one hand, the lepers are treated as plague victims; the tactics of
individualizing disciplines are imposed on the excluded; and, on the other hand, the
universality of disciplinary controls makes it possible to brand the leper and to
bring into play against him the dualistic mechanisms of exclusion (Foucault, 1995).
The Panopticon has branded the leper as the plague causing the people around this
person to exclude this person from society. The goal of the Panopticon is to keep
the community pure without any person there to pollute and push back their
progress. Social control and discipline is taken in action in this situation, the
Panopticon enforces people to view this person as abnormal and not fit to be part of
this society. As Foucault states, So it is not necessary to use force to constrain the
convict to good behaviour, the madman to calm, the worker to work, the schoolboy to
application, the patient to the observation of the regulations. All that was needed was
that the separations should be clear and the openings well arranged (Foucault, 1995).
If the Panopticon was used correctly, the community will not go against it which will
make discipline to be less of a punishment and more

Editing Techniques In The Departed And Space Odyssey
This use of editing is one of the most important things in a film. It is what literally
puts an entire film together. There are many compelling techniques for editing and
much of so are different. The films that I choose this week, The Departed is a film
that has one of the most captivating editing techniques, however none of which are
new to Scorsese and his go to filmeditor Thelma Schoonmaker. One of the most
interesting film editingtechniques is the use of the montage technique. So when
asked to discuss the use of montage in The Departed and Space Odyssey, I had to
choose probably the most interesting and talked about scenes of the 2001 Stanley
Kubrick film and the scene in the 2006 Martin Scorsese, film that sets the tone for the
second half of the film.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The beginning of the film tells the story of how each character got into the situation
that they were currently in; however, the middle is where it gets really remarkable.
When looking for the rat, the use of montage to tell the story of Matt Damon s
character s head space is incredible, although this is something that it not innovative
for a Scorsese film, it is something that I have always found interesting. The scene
follows in the characters finding out that a rat has been made aware of and the race to
both keep themselves hidden while finding their own counterpart. The editor uses the
montage to grab the audience s attention and to get them in the mind of that particular

An Analysis Of The Denver Broncos
Below is a ranking of the top 5 teams that look poised to make a run to Super Bowl
52 in Minneapolis. 5. Denver Broncos Starting our countdown, we have the Denver
Broncos. After a narrow 24 21 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 1,
the Broncos welcomed the Dallas Cowboys to Mile High in Week 2 and shocked
the football world with a 42 17 thrashing of the NFC East favorites. After one of
last weekend s most anticipated games, Denver has suddenly reemerged as a true
Super Bowl contender. The defense looked elite last week, as they made Dak
Prescott look truly uncomfortable for one of the first times in his young career. The
Cowboys offensive line struggled as mightily as it has since Prescott arrived in

Despite slow starts from both Bell and Brown, by their standards through the first
two games, it s only a matter of time before they find their mid season grooves and
return to tormenting opposing defenses. Defensively, the Steelers are young and
rapidly improving, which has to be a welcomed sight for Steelers fans after years
of defensive overturn and development. While many team defenses have a strong
front seven or secondary, the Steelers seem to have both. T.J. Watt and Cameron
Heyward headline a strong pass rush, while Joe Haden has been excellent in
leading the secondary since coming over from the Cleveland Browns. Add in the
speed and leadership of Ryan Shazier at the linebacker position, and the Steelers
are suddenly incredibly solid at all three levels of the defense. However, the
Steelers certainly aren t invincible, which was evident in their narrow victory over
the hapless Browns in Week 1. Mike Tomlin led teams have been notorious for
playing down to their competition and having their fair share of problems away
from the Terrible Towels at Heinz Field. If the Steelers can pave their way through a
favorable schedule and secure home field advantage, they unquestionably have the
talent to reach the AFC Championship and even get to the Super Bowl. Season

The Man Who Mistook His Wife For A Hat Analysis
Through his research in his story The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat
Oliver Sacks presents a seemingly neurotypical man who physically sees in the
most peculiar ways. The patient, Dr. P, often sees objects and people as different
than what they are. For example, he mistakes his foot for a shoe or his wife s head
for a hat. It would be evident as to why he did this if he should signs of a known
mental or visual disability. However, the apparent impairment of his sight was
unexplained. Dr. Sacks did end up discovering that Dr. P s life revolved around
music and used it to help him establish a routine in order to function and make sense
of the world around him. The same can be seen in Mark Haddon s story, The Curious
Incident of the Dog in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
P and Christopher Boone are both easily confused by the world. Since Boone is
autistic he does not understand basic social cues and or other conversation elements
such as jokes. This caused him to see the world through a metaphorical lense that is
not familiar to a neurotypical mind. Boone gets confused with emotions and how
other people feel so he uses math to help him understand, But I was frightened in
two different ways. And one way was being frightened of being far away from a
place I was used to, and the other was being frightened of being near where Father
lived, and they were in inverse proportion of one another, so that together the fear
remained a constant as I got further away from home and further away from
Father... (Haddon 136). In this quote Boone is using math to help him understand
his different fears. Dr. P is different as he sees the world metaphorically the same as
a neurotypical person would however, he poses a severe physical lense and will get
confused by the most simple shapes and formations. To help him understand all of
this he established a routine that he uses everyday and each routine comes with a
song. This assists him immensely because he is a music teacher and music is in his
everyday life, I put his usual clothes out, in all the usual places, and he dresses
without difficulty, singing to himself. He does everything singing to himself.. (Sacks

Religion And Philosophy During The Hellenistic Era
Religion and Philosophy were very important during the Hellenistic era due to the
mixing of people. When new cities were built by Hellenistic kings, temples were
also built honoring the old Olympian gods of Greece. Religious groups sponsored
literary, musical, and athletic contests (McKay et al, Western Society, 107). The
festivals were both intellectual and physical. I think these events helped shape
everyday life by allowing people to get involved. The people were able to get
together and have fun as well as praise their gods during the festivals. Philosophy
was more for the educated and wealthy people during the Hellenistic era. One
important philosophy from this time was Stoicism. Stoicism was taught by a man
from Cyprus named Zeno (McKay
Praying For Sheetrock Book Report
There were many things you could have learned from reading the book Praying for
Sheetrock that would be very useful to your lives. Segregation was one of those
things because in the book the white had their own community in the book and
African Americans had their own communities in the wood they both were separated
but not equal because the white were in charge of both communities. Corruptionwas

and were equal, were not corrupt, and not use violence as a way to discipline

One important thing I learned was about segregation and how it could deeply hurt
a town and that if we don t integrated that we will never be equal. I also learned how
bad corruption could affect a town like McIntosh County in a good and bad way.
Corruption could be used in a good way, for example, when the trucks were on the
road and sheriff Poppel let the poor people take what s on the truck because they
couldn t afford to buy them. Corruption could also be used in a bad way, like when
they were ticking the northerners to take their money or how it took down the
hero. The violent act of an unarmed black man being shot in the mouth and dragged
to jail with no medical attention was also a concept still happening to this day. We
should all take a lesson from this book and making sure we re integrated and were
equal, were not corrupt, and not use violence as a way of disciplining

Essay Rousseau
Rousseau Rousseau s claim that men cannot create new forces, but merely unite and
direct existing ones (Rousseau 147). In view of that, Rousseau believed that what
simply at some point man realized that there were some obstacles, which became
harmful to their maintenance in the state of nature and eventually, these obstacles
were strong enough to fight off the forces that each individual used to preserve
himself in that state. And accordingly Rousseau emphasized that because of this it
became clear to all men that there were advantages to seeming to be what one
actually wasn t. Because of this difference in appearing to be what one was not, in
due course of time this led to the establishment of justice. So how does one... Show

Consequently, justice rather than being mistaken for a new force, is really just a
transformative redirection of already existing forces. Thus, intelligent men seeing
the benefit of the combination of their strengths to make the most of the weak
seduced the powerless into allowing them to be protected by the strong, when they
had nothing to be protected against, for the sake of harmony among them all.
Previously, I explained how new forces are not created but nevertheless are
produced by simply uniting and directing existing forces. This claim can be
associated with Rousseau s later statement that the passage from the state of nature
to the civil state produces quite a remarkable change in man, for it substitutes
justice for instinct (Rousseau 150). This significant change takes place in mans
behavior and gives his actions an ethical quality they previously lacked. As far as
replacing justice for instinct, because of this creation of a new union Rousseau
asserts that, man finds himself forced to act upon other principles and he also finds
himself more active in applying his reason before listening to his preferences
(Rousseau 151). Based on this explanation alone, it becomes evident that justice
takes the place of instinct, for the sole reason that when a man is a component of a
civil state that is directed by a general will, he is then forced like Rousseau claimed,
to be relevant and use motive other

  • 2. Essay on Case East Penn Bank Activity Based Costing in the Service Sector: The East Penn Bank ABSTRACT: This case illustrates why a major segment of the service sector banks needs accurate cost information to make strategic decisions, and how more refined accounting systems help fulfill this need. East Penn Bank is a hypothetical bank that has suffered falling profits despite a shift in customer base toward retail customers, which the current information system reports are more profitable than business customers. Following a stepby step approach, you will develop the Bank s average cost of serving a retail customer account and a business customer account, under (1) the Bank s traditional single allocation base system, and (2) a (pilot test) activity based costing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The bank allocates these indirect costs to either the retail customer line or the business customer line, based on the total dollar value of checks processed (which is readily available because each branch must provide the dollar values of daily transactions for internal control). For the current period East Penn processed a total of $95 million in checks, of which $9.5 million was written by retail customers, and $85.5 million was written by business customers. This costing approach was fairly typical of banks and other financial institutions at the time East Penn developed its cost system. In college, Erik learned about an alternative costing approach called activitybased costing (ABC). However, the examples he remembered involved manufacturing firms. He wondered whether East Penn could develop an ABC system, with the business account customer line and the retail account customer line as the two primary cost objects. Erik approached Rob Garrison with this suggestion. Rob was skeptical, exclaiming, Our profits are going down the tubes and you want me to spend money developing a new accounting system? However, Erik persisted, and Rob eventually authorized a pilot ABC study using three local branches of the bank. The ABC implementation team included Erik, the managers of each of the three bank branches, a bank teller, and a representative from the customer
  • 3. Modern Film On Our Rational And Critical Thought Processes Frankfurt School philosophers fiercely debated the effects of modern film on our rational and critical thought processes. Max Horkheimer and Theodor Adorno assert film is an oppressive technology that makes us intellectually docile, while Walter Benjamin contests their assertion by recognizing film s liberatory potential. Although Horkheimer and Adorno make important points about the current relationship between film and the masses, they fail to acknowledge any possible changes to it. In the context of futurity, Benjamin presents a convincing argument the technology of film can create subjectivities that will help the masses assimilate into modernity. Horkheimer and Adorno s understanding of film reflects our current reality. Although Benjamin acknowledges film s current state, he envisions a future where film trains us to cope with the pressures of modernity. In The Culture Industry: Enlightenment as Mass Deception, Horkheimer and Adorno argue film oppresses our ability to think critically. They base their argument on how culture today is infecting everything with sameness (Horkheimer 94). That is, the ubiquitous nature of film infects everyone with identically diseased notions. The connotations of infection are clear: affliction, contamination, and disorder. For Horkheimer and Adorno, the infection (film created by the bourgeois cultural elite) forces us into a state of mental lethargy the masses uniformly accept film content with little resistance
  • 4. Internal Identity Conflicts In Lord Furnival, By Nathaniel... Crispin s identity is something that he struggles with throughout the book. At the beginning of the book, his name is Asta s son since he lives with his mother and never knew his father. He grew up with no personal name and little dignity because he and his mother were so poor. Later, he becomes the servant of Bear and finds out he is the son of LordFurnival, the Lord of his small villageand various others throughout England. Simply because of the fact he is Lord Furnival s son, he is sought to be silenced and killed. At the end of the book, he chooses to become what he wants to really be, a free man who decides where his own path will take him. Crispin realizes that he ultimately decides who he will serve while doing what action. The social restrictions that previously bind him are cut off and he begins his new life. The picture with the question mark in the man s head represents the internal identity conflict. When John Aycliffe, the steward from Crispin s village, declares Crispin a wolf s head, it becomes legal for anyone to kill Crispin. Whoever spots him, may kill him and reap a monetary award. Crispin does not realize until the end of the book why he is to be killed. Much conflict of the book stems from the escaping and dodging of men searching for Crispin. He always has the fear that he will be spotted in one of the towns while he and Bear are performing. His fears become true when he is spotted in Great Wexley. The picture used to represent this key event in the

Hysteria is when psychological conflict is turned into physical symptoms, such as when a patient complains of symptoms for which no clear physical cause. Somatization disorder has often been linked with hysteria in the same ways that hypochondriasishas, however these two diseases are not the same. In the past hypochondriasis was thought to be a somatization disorder, but has since been re classified as an anxiety disorder by the DSM IV (Ehrlich, 2013). Although not thought to be the invention of the plains Indian, that honour reputedly goes to the Indians of the Northern forests, they did further develop them and are the most famous dwellers in them. It is thought the earliest use of the teepee by plains Indians was around the seventeenth century. Trees were scarce on the plains so poles were a rare and valuable commodity. During cold weather the men also placed an extra piece of hide around the top of the teepee to keep warmth in. Having fires in the centre of these dwellings meant the need for an escape for the smoke, and a hole was left at the top of the tent for this purpose. These teepees could often be between twelve and twenty feet tall so placing the extra skin was no easy feat. The men also, with permission of their wives painted the exterior of the teepees. This was usually done during winter when hunting was limited. Scenes depicted usually included animals, historical battles, celestial bodies and personal
  • 8. The Impact Of Innovation On Nursing Education Essay The impact of innovation in nursing education is essential in order to provide competent nurses during the nursing shortage. Upon review of Craven Community College s curriculum (CCC), it was noted that peer mentoring could be utilized in order to decrease anxiety and increase confidence in nursing students. Peer mentoring has been defined as a planned relationship between a more experienced person and a less experienced person with the purpose of achieving identified outcomes. In a peer mentoring relationship, the mentor and mentee are similar in terms of age and status (Hunt Ellison, 2010). This relationship could foster collaboration and a spirit of inquiry. It is consistent with the situated learningtheory and provides opportunities to develop teamwork and collaboration strategies (Botma, Hurter Kotze, 2012). There are benefits for the mentee as well as the mentor. Upon literature review, it was noted that effective mentoring can contribute toward a positive learning environment and valuable learning experiences (Botma, Hurter Kotze, 2012). A long standing concern among nursing faculty has been the large number of students that a clinical faculty member is responsible for during a clinical experience and faculty time for adequate supervision and attention (Bagnardi, 2011). Peer mentoring is a strategy that has been used in the clinical setting. A major role of the mentor is to assist and encourage students to link theory to practice in a practical setting

Cities share a relationship with their residents and the residents start to ponder about their emotional relationship with their homes. Collaborating his first thoughts to his closing ones The great, proud city, seized with a strange love, (l. 7) The speaker describes this love as strange and golden because he was used to the mistreatment in a different far more discriminatory city. Even though the speaker has experienced hate from another society he ends up finding a city that seems to give the speaker affection, which reveals the loving relationship the speaker and the city
  • 10. Weight And Activity Analysis Weight and Activity Level I have been overweight most of my life. As a child I was overweight but during my early teen years as I grew, I began to lean out. I was able to maintain a healthy weight throughout middle school but when I began working during high school I had less time to exercise so I started to, again, gain weight. Since then I have consistently stayed between 200 and 210 pounds which puts me in the obese category with a BMI of 32. Luckily, taking physical education as a requirement to graduate has forced me to get in some exercise that I otherwise wouldn t find time to do and has driven me to want to continue. Other than the multi vitamin the only other type of supplement I use on occasion is egg white protein that I put in my smoothies. I eat plenty of protein and healthy fats which help with satiety and maintaining a healthy heart. Taking the weight training class has helped me too because it has encouraged me to work out more. Doing weight bearing exercises is good for bone health as well as keeping a good muscle mass. Even though I know what I should and should not eat, I still have a hard time making sure to eat things in moderation. When something that I eat or drink is especially good I tend to eat more than I should, which contributes to a higher calorie intake than I should. That, paired with the fact that if I get off of my exercise routine it is hard to get back on, is keeping me from losing body fat and keeping a healthy

Do you wear your blue coat in defiance of the blue coat killer? I mean, who is some murder to tell you what you can and cannot wear?Do you hide it, I mean there s a murder so it common sense, right? But what if you couldn t hide them? Now imagine that the blue coat killer is a euphemism for the oppression in our society, and the blue coats are the things being oppressed in people, whether it be race, genderor class. By instilling the belief of the worthlessness of a woman in the women, it is easier to take advantage and to get them to be compliant with the life that saddens them. Esperanza says, She looked out the window her whole life, the way so many women sit their sadness on an elbow (Cisnero 11). Consequently, this implies that women have to watch out the window as the world goes on without them. They have to watch their lives pass by without them. This reality depresses the women of Mango Street, because they had to give up their hopes and dreams solely because they were women. Many of the women are still young, but were forced into marriages by societal expectations. Esperanza says, Rafaela, who is still young, but is getting old from leaning out the window so much, gets locked indoors because her husband is afraid Rafaela will run away since she is too beautiful to look at (Cisnero 79). While this implies that women were depressed with their situations, it also implies that the men in this society have final say and ultimate rule in the home. The role of women in society is to listen to the men and do whatever they are instructed to do. Now, Esperanza doesn t plan on taking these societal expectations laying down, and with the support of her community, she can make her dreams come true. She has hopes and dreams that she intends to fulfill, no matter what others want from or for her. She will have get own house, her own job, and her own life,

It stereotypes and satirises the typical American lower middle class family. With its simple plots, exaggerated situations, unrealistic scenarios, lurid colours, humour, animation and familiar pattern, it is a typical cartoon but with an original twist. This makes it like no other cartoon made before, the twist is the level of humour used in the Simpsons, and this type of humour is called satire. Another thing that has linked on is that quite often the naming of the families is used as the name of the show/programme for example, The Simpsons, The Jetsons and the Flintstones. The Flintstones did a spin off series and created a different sitcom that was almost identical to the jokes and the theme, but it was set in the space age. The only way that Flintstones and the Jetsons are different to the way in which the Simpsons works, is the type of humour used. The Simpsons humour is a lot more complex and has clever jokes; it satirises and makes a joke about political, literary, and cultural values of Americaand the rest of the world. Whereas the Flintstones and Jetsons just make a joke about the time which they are set in (stone age and space age) and the artefacts they use and twist them to be funny. For example in the Flintstones they use a lawn mower which is really a pterodactyl which cuts the grass and speaks. This is why the Simpsons is revolutionary, also because no cartoon sitcom has ever been done of just satirising the typical American

The Marketing Model Canvas As An Analytical Framework Critique Our group has used the Business Model Canvas as an analytical framework to evaluate The Fun Center and generate recommendations to further improve the delivery of its value proposition. The Fun Center aims to provide children with an exciting and safe place to have fun by providing an array of arcade games, food and beverages, and event hosting. We made no changes to the general premise of the Business Plan, but rather we fine tuned the aspects we felt lacked clarity. The gaps that we originally identified in the first version of the Business Plan were minor and posed little threat to the company s overall success. Recommendation 1: Market to Children and Parents Our analysis of the Business Model Canvas has revealed a minor hole in the channels section. We feel as though the company s business plan failed to account for a very significant customer segment: kids. Currently, marketing is directed towards arcade enthusiasts and middle to upper class adults. The hope is that parents will be intrigued by the company s value and bring their children to the arcade. However, considering that the value proposition seeks to serve children ages 5 12 as a target customer segment, the Business Model Canvas would suggest that a channel should exist to directly connect The Fun Center s value to children. In addition to advertising to adults with traditional methods, we recommend that The Fun Center also market directly to children in order to improve reputation and garner more interest. For example, advertising The Fun Center on children s shows and radio stations will communicate to children in ways that are already familiar and comfortable to them. According to small business advice from Hearst newspapers, it would cost 200 to 1,500 dollar to commercially advertise The Fun Center on a local station, a small investment for a large long term benefit (Wagner, 2015). Theodore Roosevelt s First Progressive President Theodore Roosevelt is considered by many to be America s first progressive president due to his conservationism, his military prowess, and the natural ease with which he handled national and worldwide politics. He had a vision for the place he wanted America to be, a courage that made him admirable, and a jovial attitude that made people love him. Not only did he take steps to make the office of president more important than it once was, he tried to do so in ways that were important. One of these ways was by protecting the natural beauty of America so that it would not be entirely depleted before it could replenish itself. Another way was by proving his leadership, his bravery, and his dedication to complete the task at hand in the military. His struggle for equality in his nation and international peace also show his determination to make the world better. These points prove that Theodore Roosevelt had his eyes set on the future and was determined to move toward it. Examples Of Portfolio Reflection On College College Unit Portfolio Reflections Overview of the College Process The college process is a stressful meatgrinder that, at the same time, crushes and fulfills the dreams of millions upon millions of students each year. Never before have I seen such a calculated and corrupt system. For instance, universities have set up a monopolistic empire that is free to price discriminate at will, and society, along with our government, perpetuates this standard along with other equally revolting standards. Why have we supported it? Because the job market now stipulates that every new employee must have a shiny college degree regardless of the job s actual qualifications. Furthermore, colleges seem to have little regard for their prospective students. Each institution demands three or more essays, and they act as if students are not taking classes at the same time. Next year I will be, most likely, taking seven advanced placement classes because that is necessary for admission into this nation s most prestigious universities, yet my studies are hampered by the same question stated in an infinite amount of ways, What makes you right for our school? The miracle of Jesus feeding the five thousand is just one of the many. Feeding of the multitude is the only miracle besides the resurrection that is present in all four of the Gospels; Matthew 14: 13 21, Mark 6: 31 44, Luke 9: 10 17, and John 6: 1 15. According to John A Broadus, the number of these (woman and children) was probably small in proportion to the men, for otherwise Mark, Luke, and John would hardly have omitted to mention them.
