only in the extensive research and comprehension required to grasp the nuances of the topic but
also in the intricate process of weaving together coherent arguments and ideas.
Firstly, one must delve into the vast realm of term paper essays, navigating through a myriad of

2. The Paradox Commandments Analysis
A poem is often defined as an art form used to express yourself, which evokes
emotion in its reader. However, there are poems with another purpose besides
making the audience feel something. Some poems are used to educate, inspire, or
give advice to it s readers. Two poems that offer excellent advice about how to live
life happily and successfully are If by Rudyard Kiplingand The Paradoxical
Commandments by Dr. Kent M. Keith. Rudyard Kipling, the author of If and Dr.
Kent M. Keith, the author of The Paradoxical Commandments give both similar and
different advice, but this advice is directed at two different audiences because of the
way it is presented in the poems.
The largest difference between these poems is the demographic they are written
for. If is undeniably male dominant in comparison to The Paradoxical
Commandments which has advice directed at anyone who chooses to read it. The
first indication that If has advice specifically given to males is in line three when
Kipling says, If you can trust yourself when men doubt you, This line could have
easily been adjusted to ... when people doubt you, to allow all readers to relate to it.
The second time Kipling makes it obvious his words are for male readers only is the
second line of the final stanza Or walk with Kings nor lose the common touch.
Kings are clearly masculine, and as powerful as a person can get in Kipling s eyes.
The final line of the poem And which is more you ll be a man, my

4. Supply-Side Economic Policy
First of all, one policy of the Economic policy is supply side economic policy .
Supply side policy is a policy that is meant to improve societies economy. Also, it is
used to describe changes in marginal rates that influence the economic rates.
Supply side economic policy began in the late 1970 s. From the 1990 1993 tax
were increasingly high. President john F. Kennedy made tax reductions that
dropped tax rates to 90 percent. By the 1980 s President Ronald Reagan reduced
tax rates by up to 70 percent. During his 7 year of being president economic growth
increased by 4 percent. Ronald Reagan might have used supply side economicsbut
others have used the opposite.
Another Economic policy is called Demand side economic policy . Demand side
policy is a belief that demand and supply are the main causes that are affecting the
overall economy. Another name for demand side economy is called Keynesian
economy policy . Demand side claims that it is most successful when lower and
middle class increases buying power, which increases demand and supply. The
Keynesian economic policy was created by John Maynard Keynes. John wrote a book
named The General theory of employment, interest and money John states that
aggregated demand made by households, businesses and the government is the

5. Essay On Coriolanus Banishment
Ralph Fiennes, actor and director, portrays the fearsome Roman military hero who
loathes those of lesser class than to him, protagonist Coriolanus. One of the most
important scenes for the film Coriolanus is his banishment, done by the people he
sought lesser of (plebeians). His sudden outburst to the banishment y the common
people will be referred to as the common cry of curs speech from the Shakespeare
play, to the common people on power and honour. Specifically this scene, is after
his banishment from the common people chanting in empowered it shall be so
repetitions. The rhetorical devices which I have identified are; hyperboles and
juxtaposition. Film techniques I will discuss are eye level angle shots, cut aways and

This creates a complete contrast to the effect the eye level angle shots. Eye angle
shots suggest equality compared to the hyperboles, used in effect to construct
Coriolanus as a man who believes himself to be the most prized military possession
of the world used by shakespeare in Coriolanus s retaliation to his banishment.
Near the closing of Coriolanus s retaliation, Coriolanus declares he will find a
world elsewhere where his military prowess is needed. The same world where
without Coriolanus the Romans will be annihilated by their enemies (Volscians)
That won you without blows . By choosing to use eye level angle shots Coriolanus
and the common people are perceived to be equals. In contrast Coriolanus states
boldly with reassurance how the Romans will inevitably be drained from existence
without his presence, creating a gap between him and the common people in terms
of power and who holds importance. Coriolanus would rather hold power and be
banished, as he values power and honour over powerlessness and being a flattering
empathetic politician to the people. Coriolanus, born a Roman in Rome holds his
beliefs of honour being the utter most important thing to live for with
6. Ancient Greek Civilization
Evidence suggests that many of the Ancient civilisations were very well
developed in certain aspects of their daily life, but it s apparent that some aspects
were not. Ancient Greece, Ancient Egypt and Ancient China are all civilistations
which in some ways developed advanced systems and invented many things that
influence our lives. Ancient Greece developed many things like architecture and
political systems, which greatly influence our lives nowadays, but there are some
aspects that we had to improve such as the Olympics. The ancient Greeks
developed a system of orders which were known as columns. These columns were
beautiful both structurally and appearance wise. The columns were put into use
by creating ancient temples. Because of religion there was always a meaning
behind the design of the temple. Because the ancient Greeks developed this, it has
influenced architects nowadays to design buildings based on the original structure
and the many details in the building just like the Greeks. The most beautiful
buildings in our era are the ones which have hints of history and respect the ancient
designs. The Greeks also invented democracy which allowed people to vote for
the rights of their state. This was done in order to keep the state in order. People
were allowed to vote on the best person to be in charge of their state, most of the
state would be happy with the decision made for their state. It has greatly impacted
our lives nowadays as on the news there is commonly a
7. Causal Argument Essay
Causal Argument: Will Lowering the Drinking Age Solve the Problem of Binge
Drinking among College Students? Research has supported the observation that
young people in America consume alcohol regularly; this prevalence of use
increases rapidly during adolescence, as well as a few years afterward (Wagenaar
and Wolfson 37). This has come to be a problem among college students. It has been
shown through extensive quantitative and qualitative research that those under
twenty one years of age are able to obtain alcohol, which allows them to binge drink.
Binge drinking holds many problems for college students: alcohol poisoning, DUIs,
traffic accidents, and even fatalities. In 1984, the federal drinking age was raised to

Louisiana has the lowest rate of arrests for liquor law violations with a rate of 12
arrests per 100,000 in the population; South Dakota has the highest rate with 561
per 100,000 (Wagenaar and Wolfson 39). Despite these numbers of arrests through
appropriate law enforcement, underage individuals are still able to access alcohol in
many areas. In a recent study, underage males successfully purchased packaged beer
in 97 percent of attempts in Washington D.C., 80 percent in Westchester County,
New York, and 44 percent in Albany/Schenectady Counties in New York. A similar
study found that underage youth were refused alcohol sales in only one third of 100
establishments tested in eight sights across the United States (Wagenaar and Wolfson

environment that enables binge drinking among those that are underage. Those in
favor of lowering the drinking age also claim that social norms play a major role in
perception of alcohol, which is believe to end in the justification of binge drinking.
Key social constraints such as community acceptance and perceived influence of the
political power of the alcohol industry that work to divert attention from commercial
sources of alcohol for those that are underage. Other social aspects of the cultural and
policy environment in communities affect the issue of alcohol use in youth.

Intentional and symptomatic readings on The Yellow Wallpaper On starting my
reading on Charlotte Perkins Gilman s short story The Yellow Wallpaper , I found it
very amusing to understand the feeling of the narrator, whose name is revealed as
Jane at the very end of the story. She is constantly restricted in many ways by her
husband John, yet many of her description describes him as caring and loving even
though he disappoints her in most of her wants. The contradiction, I suspected, was
due to that the authorial intention is not projected on the spot, and that through
interpreting the story with intentional reading and symptomatic reading different
ideology may be revealed respectively. I therefore decided to study the... Show more

Can you not trust me as a physician? ), but often we find that he does not understand
Jane s need ( John does not know how much I suffer ; it is worse in the morning
when you are away ). We see a woman, despite having decent knowledge ( I know a
little principle of design ; being able to name Latin words), oppressed by the man in
this narrative, and the oppressions are repetitive over the narrative even the narrator
herself does not often recognise these as behaviours against her. We see flaws or
indecent characters in the man, possibly a projection of dissatisfaction towards men.
We also see, the woman, unsatisfied in her position, attempts an escape from her
imprisonment . We further discover a hermeneutic closure in which the men s method
of treating women eventually fails, resulting in damages in both of the gender. We

10. What Is The Characteristics Of Puritanism And Pragmatism
Benjamin Franklin s life account is often presented as a surrogate narrative of the
history of the America in the epoch in which he lived. His account of modest
beginnings truthfully, but self consciously re created by Franklin nearly fifty years
later when he began to write his Autobiography has been accepted as the tale of the
America s first Horatio Alger.
Rooted in the New England ethos, Benjamin Franklin was indelibly stamped in the
Puritan dye yet exempt from Puritan spirituality. In his thoughts and deed he showed
possibilities of a secularized and humanized world view (Conkin 73). A study of his
autobiography exposes how the Puritan anticipates the pragmatism of such American
thinkers like Charles S. Pierce, William James and John Deway. This paper endeavors

I wished to live without committing any Fault at anytime; I would conquer all that
wither natural Inclination, Custom, or Company might lead me into (66) says
Franklin while describing the grandiose objectives at the time. He derived from his
Puritan background, diligence, preoccupation with ethics and a sense of
responsibility to an ordered community. But he approached the tradition with
detachment and selectivity . We find his activities confined to the world of men and
he is not involved in any mystical participation in divine being. In the earlier
passages of his autobiography there is a reflection of Franklin s initial optimism in
his ability to achieve the desired results and it perhaps reflects his enthusiasm for
deistic principles that he describes in the earlier passage of the autobiography. His
subsequent account of his failure to reach his goal bespeaks an understanding of
human nature in relation to the Divine that owes much more to theology of Calvins

11. I Woke Up From My Nap
I woke up from my nap. From that nap I went to school and I was given a challenge.
Something that sounds almost impossible, go twelve hours without any electronics
unless an emergency. As the assignment was given out. I thought to myself without
my phone and tv, how would I go hours being awoke with no electronics devices. So,
I brainstormed that entire day.
I came up with a nice little list of things I could do to past time. It sounded like a
really big task at hand, but I felt as if I could easily do it, if I out my mind to it. So,
Saturday I prepared myself for the assignment. I dry texted people the entire day, I
didn t text some people back, and I listened to music the whole day. Got a
goodnight rest because Sunday was going to be a big day. Right before I went to
sleep I put my phone on airplane mode and I put my phone in my footlocker/chest,
closed my eyelids and went to sleep.
Instantly when I woke up I had forgot about the entire thing and I began to panic! I

minutes of looking for it. I gracefully walk up stairs and I approach my little

was lying, until my mother yells you out it in your chest to do your school

Favism is one of the most common inherited enzyme deficiency where, 400 million
people suffer from it. People who have favism and eat fava beans experience
anemia that can often lead to death. Favism directly affects the circulatory system
because many red blood cells are destroyed.Favism is the result of a lack of glucose 6
phosphate dehydrogenase, G6PD, which is supposed to get rid of free radicals in the
blood. Free radicals are molecules or atoms with an unpaired electron. These unpaired
electrons seek a pair with another electron from different molecules and can cause a
damaging chemical reaction, which can lead to the cell s death. Favism has multiple
symptoms, which include fatigue, shortness of breath, dizziness, headache, fever,...

It was treated through the avoidance of fava beans. If favism is such a difficult
disease to live with, why do many of Mediterranean descent still have it? Favism
actually has helped in the past, this disease saved many from Malaria. Malaria is
an infectious disease that kills more than the 1 million infected. Once infected,
terrible fevers and chills, vomiting, and anemia will follow. It is especially
dangerous for children and pregnant women. Malaria is caused when a parasitic
protozoa enters the bloodstream through an infected female mosquitoes bite.
Neanderthals used plants 60,000 years ago to begin to treat it, and Ancient Greeks
used opium milk. However Favism came around, even with the potential of anemia,
it protected against the threat of Malaria, which was very common in these regions
and more fatal. If Favism allows for the survival of humanity and protection against
even more dangerous diseases, then it will stay in the gene pool. Now a while back,
most survival took place outside in fields where beans, such as fava, were cultivated
for food. In addition the housing situation was not the most sanitary thus the surplus
of mosquitoes whom all have the potential of carrying malaria. Malaria killed many
yet people with favism managed to survive. This disease saved humanity thus it will

The...
Being called to love can be summed up by Jesus s words in Matthew 22:37 40,
when he says, Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and
with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is
like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these
two commandments. My understanding of how to loveGod and love my neighbor has
certainly been shaped by the material in this course thus far, especially by the
consistent prayerful attitude discussed in Liturgy of the Ordinary. By implementing
spiritual disciplines such as lectio divina and close reading, I have been able to
center myself on this prayerful attitude and more effectively live out my call to love
God and others.
Through Tish Harrison Warren s Liturgy of the Ordinary, I have gained a greater
understanding of what being called to love means, and I have learned multiple
practical means by which I can live out my call to love. Harrison Warren illustrates
the idea that our call to love is not one that is to be separated from the mundane
tasks of our daily lives; on the contrary, our call to love is to be embraced in the
midst of and through these mundane tasks. Throughout the first few chapters of the
book, the main idea has been to love God more deeply by having an attitude of
prayerfulness, which one could certainly consider a spiritual discipline. Whether
Harrison Warren is speaking of the liturgy of bed making or teeth brushing, the

15. Summary Of James Laxer s Tecumseh And Brock
Published for the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812, James Laxer s Tecumseh
Brock is a unique, if troubled, work of historical scholarship. The book approaches
the War of 1812 through the lens of two key leaders: British general Sir Isaac Brock
and leader of his allied native confederacy, Tecumseh. Laxer argues that Britain
avoided defeat in Canada by forming an alliance with Tecumsehs native confederacy,
since they shared the common enemy of the United States. Gathering this intuitively
from the text proves challenging, at best. The separate conflicts between Britain or
the Native Americans versus the US are portrayed as being personified by Tecumseh
and Sir Isaac Brock, respectively. Much of the author s critical thinking revolves
around the effects of the two men on history, as representatives of their conflict with
the United States.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The remainder of the book digresses from Laxer s main ideas, abandons any
semblance of support for the thesis, and serves simply as an inflated denouement to
the conclusion of the War of 1812. The final chapter of the book does little to
reinforce any argument, but rather discusses the nature of Tecumseh and Brock as
some kind of folk legends in Canada. With this in mind a reader must ask, is this a
dual biography? Is it a history of the War of 1812? Is the text simply a piece of anti
American sentiment penned for the bicentennial memorial of 1812 in Canada, as it
often reads? This lack of focus is the problem with Tecumseh Brock. Despite its
compelling nature the text falls short of its academic

17. Crime And Deviance In The Dark Knight By Christopher
Nolan
Throughout The Dark Knight by Christopher Nolan crime and deviance is seen
throughout the film. Crime and deviance in The Dark Knight has two faces as
society accepts crime for those whose are helping them and at the same time punishes
those who are punished. Society in Gotham accepts crime when the Batmancommits
it to help for the betterment of society; however, crimeis not accepted when it is
committed by mob bosses, gangs, criminal cops, and most importantly through the
joker. The forms of deviancy/crime which are seen throughout the film is the
Labeling Approach, Human Rights Approach, and Human Diversity Approach. The
Labelling Approach is a theory in which an individual s identity is determined or
influenced by the terms that is used to describe or classify them, through the use of
serotyping someone. This is seen within The Dark Knightwhen the Joker recruits
those who have been labelled as mentally insane, or have been outcast by society.
This makes them believe that have a sense of being within society as they start to
create their own society, and those who do not follow the norms that the Joker puts
into place. Through allowing the joker to recruit those who have a negative label,
do to the Joker having a label himself of being a villain by both sides of society.
Not being accepted by anyone, even his own, which forces him to act on such a
label through committing crimes that are not even the norms of the criminal
society. This behavior is being seen as a rationale by both sides of society the
general public, and criminals by not allowing the Joker and his associates fit within
the norms that are being set for them. This also helps society within Gotham to
make sure that those with a label are not socially accepted such as those that have a
mental illness, and who perform criminal acts. However, at the same time it gives
the people of Gotham as a sense of power over those that have a label, and the sense
that they have a position over society. Furthermore, the Human Rights Approach
argues that crime occurs whenever a human right is violated, no matter of what
context the crime is being committed, regardless of whether the crime was legal or
not. This is seen within The Dark Knight when

Use of Darkness and Light by Melville, Poe, and Hawthorne
Melville, Poe, and Hawthorne all tend to focus on the darker side of humanity in
their writings. In order to allow their readers to better understand their opinions, they
often resort to using symbolism. Many times, those symbols take the form of
darkness and light appearing throughout the story at appropriate times. A reader
might wonder how light functions in the stories, and what it urges the reader to
consider. If we look carefully at these appearances of light, or more likely the
absence of it, we can gain some insight into what these subversive romantics consider
to be the truth of humanity. Hawthorne uses this technique to its fullest; however, it is

Melville explained in his essay Hawthorne and his Mosses : this great power of
blackness in him derives its force from its appeals to that Calvinistic sense of Innate
Depravity and Original Sin, from whose visitations, in some shape or other, no
deeply thinking mind is always and wholly free. Melville is claiming that this is a
part of Hawthorne the man, but this undoubtedly carries over into his work as well.
If this wasn t enough symbolism, Hawthorne soon introduces us to the people that
YGB encounters on his journey. In his book Power of Darkness, Levin suggests
that in this piece, the darkness is symbolic of the deep mystery of sin (54). The
people who are representative of the sins are those who are cloaked in darkness, and
who appear grave and dark clad to the reader the elder witches. Considering that the
story deals with the loss of faith replaced by doubt (Levin, 54), we can only assume
that these dark clothed characters represent the sin that humanity has brought upon
itself. YGB has been drawn to the sin, but hasn t yet partaken of it he doesn t actually
join the witches in the end. Nonetheless, Hawthorne wants us to understand that he
was drawn to the dark side of human nature, with all it appears to promise, and yet
turned it away at the last minute to the goodness (represented by the light pink color
of Faith s ribbons).

20. Comparing Gilgamesh s Polpol Vuh And Other Myths
Polpol Vuh and other Myths After reading the book Polpol Vuh, I was able to
instantly point out many similarities and differences between two other myths that
we have read throughout the class. The first myth that came to mind was Genesis.
Genesis and Polpol Vuh both talk of creation of animals, trees, and mountains, as
well as the creation of mankind, After doing research in the past, I knew that
Genesis and Gilgamesh had similarities which then put Gilgamesh in the category
with Polpol Vuh and Genesis. While reading these tales, I was also able to answer
a series of questions based on my opinions. In this essay, I will explain my beliefs
about what the people in these three tales seem to believe about how they came to
be, what qualities they share, what is important to them, why their creator(s) make
them, their reason for being where they are and lastly, what a good person and bad
person would be like if these people wanted to be like their creator(s). I believe that
the people in Genesis believe that they are created from Gods image. In genesis, it
states, And God created the human in his image, in the image of God He created
him, male and female He created them. (Norton Vol. A 159)

I believe that the Mayan people had corn as their main source of food which is
why they believed that they were made from corn. In Gilgamesh, there were many
different characters. Enkidu was one that was created by Aruru, a Goddess of
creation. She sculpted him from clay and her spittle. In all three tales, the people
share many qualities and one of them would be strength, For example, in all three
tales there is a battle that occurs and there is great strength portrayed in each battle,

Legal and illegal immigration has always been a primary issue in the American
economy. There are many American workers that consider immigration a primarily a
redistributive policy.
The prediction by economists is that illegal immigrants will redistribute income by
lowering the salaries of competing American workers and increasing the salaries
of complementary American workers as well as profits for business owners and
users of illegal labors. America has always been a home to all immigrants and is
considered a large group in the work force and contributing to the economy. While

comes to individuals who work visa is that they take jobs from American workers.
More often H 1B visa holders take jobs that American are reluctant to take. H 1B

needed such as doctors. American are resultant to relocate to these areas, so
foreigners often fill in to these types of situations. According to Taylor Mark
companies are not allowed to pay visa holder less money than to their American

save money for their companies. One gap that companies especially in the
engineering sector is to hire visa holder through a third party service, paying them
less than their American counterparts. This does happen but more often than not.
Individuals who hold H 1B visa are contributing to our economy and filling in jobs

At its heart, promoting a product is simply communication. Consumer perceptions are
a key component of success or failure, so organizations must strive to align
communications into clear, concise, and customer oriented messages (Lumen, n.d).
The point of promotion is to convince consumers to purchase the intended product.
There are several promotion methods to choose from and nearly limitless media to
use for promotion. Marketingdepartments must choose the method or methods and
media that best reach the target consumer. In order to further illustrate the use of
promotion methods and media, promotion strategies have been developed for a
software company, a new toy, a health beverage, and a small airline.

Overall, this approach is indicative of the importance of the customer to the
organization. It has another benefit as well. When a small company uses multiple
salespeople to contact a client it helps the company appear larger than it is (Lumen,
n.d.). There are a couple of types of media the organization should use. First, submit
the software to www.cnet.com for review. This will provide a point of reference for
anyone researching animation software and provide impartial judgment on the merits
of the software. Second, contact ideal customers and schedule a presentation of the
new advanced software. Once complete, offer a sample version of the software (with
reduced functionality) so it can be operated prior to purchasing the full version. Since
there are many small companies that create video games and other animation, I
suggest attending trade shows. According to the Animation World Network website,
there are 19 tradeshows in the next 3 months (Events, n.d.). The organization can also
attend shows frequented by animators such as the E3 and South by Southwest
conferences. The proper use of these methods will ensure the news of this innovative
animation software reaches the intended target audience. While this plan works in
this scenario, it does not necessarily apply to all products.

24. One Art By Elizabeth Bishop
One Art by Elizabeth Bishop is a villanelle in which the narrator talks of losing things.
Her attitude of losing things in lines 16 19 is different from her attitude in lines 1 15.
As the poem continues, the narrator s losses change from material items to the truly
painful loss of a beloved person. Bishop uses verse form and language throughout the
poem which contribute to the reader s understanding of the narrator s different
attitudes throughout the poem.
In lines 1 15, the author writes in tercets. The combination of writing in tercets, and
having an a b a rhyme pattern creates a steady rhythm to the poem. The poem also

person. She says Even losing you (the joking voice, a gesture/ that I love) I shan t
have lied. It s evident/ the art of losing s not too hard to master/ though it may look
like (Write it!) a disaster (Lines 16 19). The use of parentheses in the last line
makes the last stanza more personal. The author switches from addressing the
reader (lines 1 15), to her love (lines 16 17), then to herself in line 19. When the
author says (Write it!) (Line 19), she capitalizes the W, making it an imperative
command to herself, forcing herself to admit that losing you was a disaster. In
stanza 1, the author says The art of losing isn t hard to master (Line 1). That stanza
is refrained as the poem continues, but is changed slightly in the last stanza to: It s
evident/ the art of losing s not too hard to master... (Lines 17 18), which is a
significant confidence change from the beginning of the poem. In the beginning the
author says that losing things is no disaster because it is their intent to be lost. In the
last stanza the author s attitude changes, saying that it was easy to master the art of
losing, even though it looks like a

Batwoman has one of the most interesting origin stories of all the comic heroines.
In the year 1954, there was a book called the Seduction Of The Innocent by Fredric
Wertham, which claimed had Batman and Robin of have a homosexual relationship
(Madrid, 59) and also informed parents that their kids would copy the crimes seen in
the comics (Simonson, 119). Back in 1954, it was frowned upon being gay. Batman
and Robin were one of the best sellers at DC comicsso In 1956, Batman was assigned

Ace the Bat Hound, Bat Girl (not Batgirl, they are two different characters), and a
magical imp named Bat Mite (Misiroglu 59). This was used to help remove the
image of homosexuality in the comics. But it didn t really work, why? Batwoman
would learn that her greatest obstacle wouldn t bring justice to Gotham City or not
nefarious criminals of its underworld, but her idol, Batman. When the caped
twosome meets, Batman tells Batwoman that crime fighting is too dangerous for a
woman (Madrid 62 64). There definitely wasn t much of a romance going on, and
relationship that Batman and Batwoman did have was not a good foundation for a
love affair (Madrid 67). Nevertheless, Batwoman presence seemed to dispel the gay
speculation (Madrid 67). She was in the comic books from 1956 to 1964
(Simonson 119) and was rebooted in 2006 (Simonson 149). The irony is that
although Batwoman had been introduced as a lover for Batman as a way to dispel
the gay speculation, in the comic series 52 issue 11 produced in July 2006 Katherine

When I m around 65 years old, I want to have the ability to quit working. I want,
like almost all Americans want, to be able to retire. Well, the trouble with that is
that I, and just about everyone else, probably won t have enough money to be able
to retire just from the saved income from our jobs and from social security. We ll
have to take the money we save from our earnings and try to make it grow. So the
problem then lies in finding the best way to invest our savings so that it grows, like
in this image, large enough, and crucially, safe enough, to be able to retire upon. I
think, that the best way to grow our money large and safe enough is called an index
fund. So today, I m going to explain what index fundsare, and why they re better than
our other investing options. Owning stocks in general is really pretty simple. In
fact, it s a lot like owning cows. You can spend all of your money on one cow that
looks perfect, but then there s a lot to worry about. For instance, you have to worry
about that cow dying to disease or falling in a ravine or getting struck by lightening
or getting lost. Or you can share an entire herd of cows with a few other investors.
Think about how much safer you are! The likelihood of losing a whole herd to
something is pretty small, and something really terrible would have to happen. How
does that relate to stocks? Well individual stock picking is like owning one cow,
while index funds are like owning the herd. And just like your cow could get

The famous poem Trees by Joyce Kilmer is a lyrical poem that focuses on nature,
in which God has made. A tree is used in this poem to emphasize how the works of

omnipresence and omnipotence.
An aabbccdd rhyme scheme is used in this short but well expressed couplet.
Personification is frequently used frequently throughout the poem to make it evident
to the readers that God s creation of nature is living. For an example, in stanza 2,
Kilmer says, A tree whose hungry mouth is prest Against the earth s sweet flowing

which was available in her Whimsical Whimsies resulting in adoration from millions

War I in 1917. He served as a private in the 7th Regiment in the New York National

war, which included his faith in God. Kilmer s life ended when he was shot in the

Abstract
Adverse early life experience affects physiological and behavioral development,
leading to differences in life history outcomes. One key component is the relationship
between the developing sympathetic nervous system (SNS) and hypothalamic
pituitary adrenal (HPA) axis. Recent studies have suggested an association between
early life adversity (ELA) and asymmetry in cortisol (a measure of HPA axis
activation) and salivary alpha amylase (a correlate of SNS activation) responses to
stress among human children, but to my knowledge there have been no studies of
such a relationship in nonhumans. Here, I investigate the responses of these
analytes to non stressful and stressful events in a cohort of free ranging juvenile
rhesus macaques (Macaca mulatta) on Cayo Santiago, Puerto Rico. Behavioral data
collected on maternal rejection and abuse during each juvenile s first three months
of life was used to determine individual ELA categories. Saliva samples were
collected from juveniles during both low stress and high stress states. High ELA
juveniles were found to exhibit blunted cortisol responsiveness during high stress
situations compared to moderate and low ELA juveniles. These juveniles were also
found to have the highest low stress cortisol levels of the three groups. Further, sAA
output was higher overall during high stress states than during low stress states, but
did not significantly differ among the three ELA categories. Cortisol and sAA values

Albert Einstein once said, Life is like riding a bicycle, in order to keep your

32. Understanding The Terms State And Trait
First, define the terms state and trait. States are temporarily behaviors and feelings
that depend on a person s circumstances. States are responsible how to deal with
everyday stress circumstances. Traits are stable characteristic behaviors and
feelings also known as personality, it is a consistent way how individuals respond
to stress. It is genetic based (Kottler, 2011, pg. 116). Second, provide a brief
description of each of the personality types and how each deals with stress. Different
personality types: 1.Type A personality. People with this personality are intense, very

(Kottler, 2011, pg. 119 120). 3.Repressive personality. People with this type of
personality are very organized; rule bounded and they hate surprises. They prefer
not being spotlight, they want that nobody sees them and they avoid conflicts at any
costs. However, they need an approval that whatever they are doing they are doing it
right. When are dealing with stress, they may appear being very optimistic because
they minimalize the threats around them it is an adaptive mechanism how to deal
with stress. They are repressing earlier happened traumas or disturbing situations.
They try to avoid acknowledging anxiety, fear and even attraction. If they do not feel
it there is no stress. (Kottler, 2011, pg. 121). 4.Codependent personality. This is a
learned behavior between people, where one person is emotionally destructive and
abusive in relationship. One patient is the sick one and another one is enabler. Both
parties stay in this codependent relationship while they are feeling needed. While
dealing with stress, they continue to proceed to repeat the same dysfunctional,
dependent patterns over and over again until they experience consequences for their
actions and seek help. Codependent persons develop emotional problems, such as
depression, anxiety, and being hyperactive in one second and lethargic in another
second. As well, codependent persons can also experience physical problems, such as
colitis, ulcers, migraines etc. (Kottler,

34. Global Warming And Its Effect On The Marine Ecosystem
Essay
The fear of global warming has been looming over people, and baffling scientists for
decades. Since it was recognised that climate change is becoming accelerated due to
human resources, the knowledge around it has been slowly evolving. Fifty years ago,
as will be discussed, thinking around the subject was quite different. Even now
experts cannot come to a consensus as to what the result of climate changewill be. It
is observed, at present, that global warminghas made a huge impact on the marine
ecosystem as the sea temperature and amount of carbon continues to rise. One of
the great concerns about global warming is its effect on the cryosphere and polar
caps, of which the science will be later explored. In addition, it is predicted that if
global warming continues to develop within the next ten years, the world will change
drastically for the worse. Body Paragraph One: Past knowledge
Fifty years ago, scientific knowledge of climate change was limited, and some
predictions were far from the results. In the 1960 s to 1970 s, what we in the present
day fear, global warming, was not an issue at all, actually, experts were concerned
about global cooling. According to this theory, proposed by Kenneth Watson of the
University of California, it was predicted that by the 21st century, the earth would
have cooled enough to send the world into an ice age, and billions of people alive
now would have died due to starvation, caused by crops being unable to grow. There

Fairy tales possess the ability to last throughout the decades. The stories are passed
down from generations and teach valuable lessons in extraordinary ways. In fact,
most fairy tales began with oral storytelling. However, The Grimm Brothers made
multiple editions of tales that they claimed as their own. With over 200 fairytales, not
all of their stories gained the same amount of popularity. Their more prominent
stories, such as Cinderella and Snow White, create a sense of whimsy with talking
animals and love. In contrast, The Robber Bridegroom, a lesser known fairy tale,
focuses on dark ideas: cannibalism and murder. The Grimm Brothers fairy tale The
Robber Bridegroom did not reach the same level of acclaim as other Grimm stories...

Grimm stories usually contain the standard characters of a fairy tale. In a normal
fairy tale, the characters include the fool, the fairy, the wicked crone, the charming
prince, and the beautiful damsel (Heckel). While not all of these characters are
always included, most stories contain some combination of them. These characters
help make the iconic setup that makes the story popular. For instance, the famous
fairy tale Snow White shows off a wicked crone, a charming prince, and the
beautiful damsel. Snow White escapes her evil queen mother and ends up with her
prince ( Snow White ). In Snow White, the ideal structure is in place; everything
comes together and it has a joyful ending. However, in The Robber Bridegroom,
there is no charming prince or a standard wicked crone ( The Robber ). The
daughter is left to defend herself against the suitor and she does not end up with love.
The archetypal characters are not only missing, but the standard theme of love is not
present anywhere within the story. The fairy tale did not reach its full capability
because it lacks the archetypal characters that let readers connect to the

was thin and very simple. Over many generations, it has become longer
38. Nationalism Is A Progressive Force
Introduction
There are many people supposing that nationalism is a progressive force in
international relations. However, there is also much debate in academic materials
which are identifying nationalism as a hindrance in achieving the possibilities
presented by globalization, as well as a risk factor in war. Therefore, there is a
division in terms of if nationalism is progressive or regressive, as far as international
relations are concerned. As a response to these conflicting views, this paper will
explore the relevant literature to support the thesis that nationalism is a progressive
force in international relations.
Nationalism is a Progressive Force
O Leary (1997) argues that nationalism is the most significant form of political
legitimacy in the modern world, as well as an astute component of modernity.
According to O Leary, nationalism is a principle that holds a nation to be
institutionally expressed freely and collectively under the rule of its own co nationals.
However, not all share the views of O Leary, with sections associating nationalism
with regression as opposed to progression with regards to international relations. For
instance, Anastasiou (2007) explains that Westerners and educated elites consider
nationalism, both as a regressive force and as exclusivist in its nature, which demands
reshaping of the future. Dione (2012) expresses arguably similar concerns by asking
whether the new nationalism which reduced the dominance of the West and facilitated

40. Investigating The Substances Of Water Chromatography
Most chemists and many other scientists must routinely separate mixtures and
identify their components. The ability to qualitatively identify the substances found
in a sample can be critical. For example, an environmental chemist investigating
samples of polluted ground water will want to know which toxic ions might be
present in a sample. Chromatographyis one of the first tools used in such situations. In
this technique, many types of mixtures can be separated into the component pure
substances; by comparison to a standard sample, each component substance can also
be tentatively identified. Many varieties of chromatography exist, each one designed
to separate specific types of mixtures. The common feature of each type of... Show

The movement of the components in the mobile phase is controlled by the
significance of their interactions with the mobile and/or stationary phases. Because of
the differences in factors such as the solubility of certain components in the mobile
phase and the strength of their affinities for the stationary phase, some components
will move faster than others, thus facilitating the separation of the components within
that mixture.
The first chromatograph was invented by Russian botanist Mikhail Semenovich
Tsvett. Mikhail Tsvet was born 14 May 1872 in Asti, Italy. His mother was Italian,
and his father was a Russian official. His mother died soon after his birth, and he
was raised in Geneva, Switzerland. He received his B.S. degree from the
Department of Physics and Mathematics at the University of Geneva in 1893.
However, he decided to dedicate himself to botany and received his Ph.D. degree
in 1896 for his work on cell physiology. He moved to Saint Petersburg, Russia, in
1896 because his father was recalled from the Foreign Service. There he started to
work at the Biological Laboratory of the Russian Academy of Sciences. His
Geneva degrees were not recognized in Russia, and he had to earn Russian degrees.
In 1897 he became a teacher of botany courses for women. In 1902 he became a
laboratory assistant at the Institute of Plant Physiology of the Warsaw University in
41. Lab Safety And Safety In A Science Lab
Lab safety is very important if you are going to work in a science lab. The two
things to always remember when working in a lab is safety and that lab is a
privilege. The Lab is a privilege each student is lucky to have, without it the
students would not be able to conduct experiments in the laboratory. One of the
most important reasons why students should always be safe is because many
things in the lab can be harmful to one or others in the lab. Toxic substances may
be spilled, shards of glass or other sharps may cause injuries/accidents if one is not
careful. Lab procedures must be talked over and thoroughly in a lab to make sure
that the lab is a safe environment to perform tasks for the experiment. Using good
judgment, observe safety rules and follow directions can prevent accidents from
happening.
One of the first rules in the laboratory is having the correct /appropriate attire. While
working in the lab all clothing must not be baggy or loose and be able for one to
work in their workspace. Hair must be slicked back and out of the way from all
materials during an experiment. Open toes shoes are not allowed in the lab, only
enclosed shoes. No long dangling jewelry or items are permitted. As well, goggles
should always be on just in case any chemicals or materials are out of harms worth.
Lastly, in the lab, all students including the professor should be wearing an apron
while conducting all experiments. This prevents a lot of accidents that can be caused
by the
43. The Is A Non Profit Organization
The EDF is a non profit organization whose goal is to protect the environment. The
organization have many projects that help them to raise fund for such goal. Their
main stakeholders are the people who support them and push politicians to pass
environmentalist laws. One of their main programs is called the Climate Corps ;
this programs creates a small network that only allows people who are strictly
selected by the EDF. Moreover, the plans that their interns create for company
affect some stakeholders inside the company they work for. Consequently, many
other stakeholders are negatively affected by this. In order to avoid more negative
effects instead of positive, the EDF should extend the Climate Corps program and
modify some of the basis in which the program creates their plans, so direct and
indirect problems can also be solve. To begin with, one of the most affected
stakeholders in this network are the students that are not allowed to participate in the
Climate Corps; therefore, the student s selection have to be wider in order to avoid
undergraduates of doing unethical decisions. The EDF has to keep their reputation
of perfection in order to attract companies. One of their ways to do it is by showing
that their interns are the best in the country. First, the EDF only accepts students who
are in top colleges of the country. Secondly, they have to be the top of their
generation. These two main requirements are used as advertisement in the Climate
Corps page. Moreover,

The Friar and the Pardoner The Canterbury Tales, retold by Geraldine
McCaughrean, is composed of many stories told by different characters on the
road to Canterbury. On their pilgrimage, each of the characters tells a different
story in a contest to win a free dinner when they get to Canterbury. Many of the
tales have similar morals, but the tellers are very different, such as the tales of the
Friar and the Pardoner. Though both of these tales have a similar plot and can be
interpreted in a similar way, their tellers are significantly different. Although the
Friar and the Pardoner are very different people, they both have a similarly
structured story, using a symbolic demons as the antagonist, and with very similar
plotlines. In the Pardoner s Tale, three unintelligent men want to find and murder
someone named Death who is killing many people. The three men stumble upon a
pot of gold, which happens to be Death s pot of gold. They all split the money in
the pot and become rich. While one of the three leaves to buy wine to celebrate
their fortune, the two guarding the gold become greedy and plot to kill the other
so they can keep his gold. However, the one who left had a similar idea, and poisons
the wine he brings to dinner. That night, the two who guarded the gold kill the other
one, but then drink the poisoned wine to celebrate. They all die, and Death takes
back his gold. In the Friar s Tale, a Summoner meets up
45. Ralph Lauren Mission Statement
A popular goal for many businesses, especially in the fashion industry, is to provide
quality products to customers. Especially within the world of fashion, keeping
customers loyal and happy is important for any business, because customers mean
sales and sales mean profit. Therefore, this is why providing quality products is one
major goal of Ralph Laurens mission statement. Ralph Lauren understands how
having quality products that satisfy customers impacts the loyalty of customers as
well as the growth and continuation of the business. When customers are not happy,
they do not buy. Also, when customers do not buy, they generally go to competitors.
Furthermore, when customers are not happy, they often tell others of their
displeasure. Word of mouth
46. Research Paper On Bahamas
Did you know that the Bahamas is on the corner of the Bermuda triangle? The
Bahamas is a group of over 700 islands in the Atlantic Ocean. One of the main
reasons why people go to the Bahamas is because of the weather and the climate.
There weather is around 80 degrees year round. The attractions are another reason
why people go to the Bahamas. There is a lot of water parks in the Bahamas. A
historical site in the Bahamas is Fort Charlotte. Fort Charlotte is a fort built in the
British colonial era. You should go to the Bahamas because it is the best country in
the world. In the Bahamas the weather is usually 80 degrees year round. The reason
why they have that weather is because it is a Tropical Marine climate. In a tropical
marine climate,
47. Taking a Look at MIMO Techniques
MIMO techniques are mostly used to accelerate system throughput over disruptive
wireless communication channels. It is well known fact that with the number of
transmit antenna M and number of receive antenna N, the capacity of MIMO
systems increases linearly with a factor of MN. The receiver decodes the received
signal vectors into actual information, a narrow band flat fading MIMOis designed as:
Y=Hx+n (1)
Where Y x are received and transmitted vectors, H is channel matrix n is the noise.
During the last decade, MIMO techniques in wireless industry have gained a huge
interest in the study. MIMO is treated as an extension of conventional smart antenna
systems (SAS). In SAS, techniques of beamforming are deployed and the optimal
antenna weighting vector that determines antenna radiation pattern is computed
based on the optimal criterion such as maximum signal to interference plus noise
ratio (SINR), minimum mean square error (MMSE) [8]. The ability to exploit and
use the multipath propagation can be considered as one of the major advantages of
MIMO systems. In contrast to transmit beamforming schemes, channel state
information (CSI) is generally not required at the transmitter of MIMO systems.
MIMO techniques for transmitting systems can be majorly divided into two
categories: spatial multiplexing and space time coding (spatial diversity techniques).
In spatial multiplexing technique, it increases the data rate (throughput) over a

48. Theme Of Conflict In Romeo And Juliet Act 1
Conflict is indeed present throughout Act 1, as it forms the basis of the underlying
plot and gives meaning to the undying love between Romeo and Juliet. Within Act
1 there are 2 types of conflict that are present in the play where Shakespeare
introduce them to us in several situations. Physical and Verbal conflict is the norm
of conflict in Act 1 as both types of conflict aid one another to determine a conflict.
Moreover, specific acts of conflict where seen liable in such the feud that had
aroused between the servants of the 2 families, along with Juliet s inner conflict
whether to love an enemy and lastly the conflict of power shown in the party
between the Head of Capulet and Tybalt. Consequently, these are more of the
renowned conflicts that can be seen in Act 1 and it brings importance to the plot as it

As the party nears to end, Juliet finds out from the Nurse that Romeo is a
Montague, and to her demise that she was loving an enemy. Juliet exacerbates and
ponders whether loving Romeo was the valid choice or not. This can be evidently
seen when the Nurse reveals the identity of Romeo to Juliet His name is Romeo,
and a Montague, The only son of your great enemy ( Shakespeare, Act 1). While
the Nurse had told to Juliet that Romeo is the son of your great enemy, it clearly
shows that Juliet is not allowed to be around him and should not love him for the
sake of her family, yet she still knows and believes that she loves him. Her
insidious love towards Romeo can be seen in the quote My only love sprung from
my only hate! Too early seen unknown, and known too late! Prodigious birth of
love it is to me, That I must love a loathГЁd enemy ( Shakespeare, Act 1). This
clarifies that she is aware that she is loving an enemy and which she refuses to stop
loving him when she should, but she knows that she can t easily subside her feelings

49. The Dehumanization Of The Natives In Colonial America
For centuries, the English and European colonizers wanted a piece of the new world.
Many of these colonists were very curious of what was at this new world and wanted
to create opportunities for themselves by extracting resources through the labor of the
indigenous people and imported slaves. Though they needed the laborers for their
resources, the indigenous people and imported slaves that worked for them were
dehumanized and mistreated for the colonist s greed. The Spanish and Portuguese
treated the Natives and Slaves inhumanely, while the French treated the Natives fair
and just, but the slaves just the same as the Spanish and Portuguese. One of the major

They just did what they were told, while some revolted. They joined the Bacon s
rebellion because they felt like they had a greater stake since they had to work for
life. Compared to the Native s response, the African slaves did not rebel as much as
the Natives did. The Natives had many violent wars with the Americans. The Anglo
Americans treated the Native Americans with dishonor. The Anglo Americans
treated the Native Americans as if they were the first people to live in America.
The Americans did not count them in their federal census for the purposes of
representation . The Anglo Americans treated the Five Civilized Tribes with no
remorse. They forcedly relocated the tribes along the Missouri River with the help
of president Thomas Jefferson. He established a US sovereignty that would push
them away even though they had no word against it. The Native Americans living
on the plains were treated with no respect. The Anglo Americans took over and
disrespected the land these Natives have lived on for decades with the railroad. To
get this job done, they Americans had to get rid of the Natives and to do that they
must either assimilate or be exterminated. This impacted the Natives spiritually as
they believed their precious land was dying from the works of the
50. Medicare and Medicaide Essay
Medicare and Medicaid together are the single biggest contributor to [the United
States] long term [budget] deficit. This idea was expressed by President Obama
during his 2011 state of the Union Speech. After saying this, the president said that
health care costs need to be reduced, including these two services. Medicareand
Medicaidare beneficial to those who receive their services, and the criteria for
eligibility currently allow many to qualify for either program. This is most likely the
cause of the major deficit that the president spoke of. However, downsizing or
eliminating these programs to lessen the deficit will affect many people and their
ability to receive healthcare.
In 1965 President Johnson signed both Medicare and ... Show more content on

Yes Medicare is supposed to be an insurance program that helps the needy aging
population. I personally don t want to strip seniors of their essential benefits, but it
is affecting me and my future; with the inevitable raise of taxes, shrinking defense,
and squeezing of other domestic spending everything from the FBI to college aid
(Samuelson, 2011, para.1). Many seniors count on these services but we as a
nation need to make changes to help the future retirees. According to Samuelson,
Obama said we must win the future, but our massive federal debt will keep
growing because, without restraining spending on retirees, there s no path to a
balanced budget (Samuelson, 2011,para.2). This shows true in Medicaid too, The
social safety net [Medicaid] for the growing ranks of poor Americans would be
further strained (Samuelson,2011, para.2). It would also be helpful to screen
people better so they don t abuse this system. If Medicaid would verify assets they
can weed out the people who don t deserve these services. This will cut costs by
verifying better eligibility, which in turn will be less wasteful. This is all very
scary for the future, interest of our country. From 2012 to 2021... Social Security
would rise 27 percent and Medicare, 32 percent (Samuelson, 2011,sec.3) In my
opinion with the higher life expectancy of our nation we need to move the age for
Medicare benefits up higher to reflect the increase in life

Purpose of the study
The main purpose of this study was to ascertain how lipid transport molecules LDL,
HDL, and triglycerides are linked to neuropsychological function.
Hypothesis (es)
The authors of this study made the hypothesis that elevated levels of triglycerides and
LDL cholesterol would be related to decreased neuropsychological function, with a
greater link in the scopes of memory and executive function.
Participants
A total of 74 females and 46 males participated in this study. All these participants
were taken from two different studies, yet it is to be noted that these studies
overlapped one another. The participants were chosen on the premise of having
existing or an absence of cerebrovascular disease (CVD) risk components, for
example, cholesterol, blood pressure, and an atypical regulated glucose. Out of the
one hundred twenty three participants in this study, thirty one of these participants
were chosen from a larger sample taken from the Harvard Cooperative Program on
Aging (HCPA) Clause Pepper Older American Independence Center. The participants
that partook in this program were taken from their respective community, and their
reasoning to partake was due to

Analysis of All the President s Men
All the President s Men, the 1976 film directed by Alan J. Pakula, is a detective
thriller that portrays the story behind the Washington Post reporter s Bob
Woodward and Carl Bernstein s Pulitzer Prize winning relentless pursuit of the
Watergate conspiracy. It initially started as a local burglary story and eventually led
to the resignation of President Nixon. Over 40 years after Nixon s resignation, the
Academy Award winning film was shown on July 14, 2017, at the Paramount
Theater s Screening Series in Oakland, California. This film has current significance
as the current US president is in the middle of a special investigation for possible

After a short news clip, the film begins with a flashback. There are a few seconds
where the screen is completely black. Then, a small flashlight slowly scans a dark
alley, looking for anything unusual. This light led to uncovering the break in at the
Democratic National Committee office at Watergate. This slow paced event is
elevated in importance by the lack of any dialogue or music, creating a tense
mysterious mood. There is nothing to distract the viewer from following the light.
The film frequently cuts between dark night shots and the brightly lit Washington
Post s newsroom. The lack of shadows represents that the goal of the newsroom
was to find the truth. Many newsroom shots are close ups of mismatched reporters:
new reporter Woodward and veteran reporter Bernstein revising stories. These
scenes could have slowed the pace of the film down, but instead, we get to see into
the thinking and motives of the characters. In a key scene in the film, the camera
focuses on a TV set showing Richard Nixon s second inauguration. Off to the side in
the newsroom, we see Woodward and Bernstein working on the story that would
bring Nixon down. The wide angle shots of the nearly empty newsroom show that
Woodward and Bernstein were working around the clock to uncover the truth. News
stories come together out of scraps of information under the bright lights in the
newsroom.

Decision Making Model Analysis Paper
Throughout this paper, the values of the Six Thinking Hats will be discussed and
the meanings behind the Six Hats. Six Thinking Hats is used to look at decisions
from a number of important perspectives. This forces you to move outside your
habitual thinking style, and helps you to get a more rounded view of a situation (de
Bono, 1985) . There are five values behind the Six Thinking Hats. They are role
playing, attention direction, convenience, possible basis in brain chemistry, and rules
of the game. Decision making can be difficult, but these are decisions that are made
after all the information has been provided beforehand.

making things happen. It covers a positive spectrum that ranges from the logical and
practical at one end to dreams, visions and hopes at the other end.
Green Hat
Green hat is grass, vegetation and abundant, fertile growth. The green hat indicates
creativity and new ideas (de Bono, 1985) . With the green hat there is a need to go
beyond the known and the obvious and the satisfactory. The green hat thinking seeks
to move forward from an idea in order to reach a new idea. The word provocation is
used to take us out of the usual patterns of thinking. With the creative pause the green
hat thinker pauses at any given point to consider whether there might be alternative
ideas at that point.
Blue Hat
Blue hat is cool, and it is also the color of the sky, which is above everything else.
The blue hat is concerned with control and the organization of the thinking process.
Also the use of the other hats (de Bono, 1985) . The blue hat is like the conductor of

for summaries, overviews and conclusions. Even though the blue hat role is assigned
to one person, it is still open to anyone to offer comments and suggestions.
54. The Importance Of The Indole Test
The indole test is a test that determines the ability of an organism to separate from
the tryptophan molecule. The organism Enterobacter aerogenes is aseptically
removed from an agar slant and spread over a square on the Indole dry slide. If
there was a positive reaction the slide would turn a red color, and if there was no
color change then the results would be negative. The next tests are the Methyl Red
broth and Voges Proskaur broths are inoculated using the broth inoculation
technique used in class. The broth will allow fermentation to occur by either
pathway. The product that is formed and then detected with different reagents will
show the difference. The methyl red test is a test performed to detect the ability of
the organism E. aerogenes to produce mixed acid fermentation from supplied
glucose. By aseptically using the inoculating loop, one broth is inoculated with the
organism E. aerogenes. The other broth is left inoculated for now. The broths are
incubated for 37 degrees for two to five days. After the incubation period, five
drops of methyl red are added to the MR tube, which this will detect a strong, stable
mixed acid formed in the mixed acid pathway. The other broth is taken and six
drops of Barritt s reagent A, which is called a naphthol and then two drops of
Barritt s reagent B (40% KOH) is added to VP tube. The tube is then mixed well by
rolling the tube by holding the top. After 15 minutes have passed, the acetoin formed
