Quality Matters Related Issues And Course Design
ENV 1053 and ENV 1073
Quality Matters related issues/course design:
There are no major issues related to Quality Matters; I will touch upon a few of the design issues that
came up during the review.
One of the really good things about these courses is in the incorporation of case studies. Each week or
chapter features a case study that s taken right from the course textbook. I ve advocated in other
courses for the use of case studies and I think this course serves as a starting point to incorporate them
into these other courses. The challenge I think here is that while the case studies are incorporated into
the students final grade, the stakes are so low that students may complete only a few or none of the
case studies. However the overall grade for discussion forums/case studies is only 4% of the final
grade. As such students can complete none of the discussion forums/case studies and still receive a
strong grade in the course. My suggestion would be to limit the number of case studies to four, and
create case studies that combine several of the weeks for units into one, each worth 2 1/2% of the final
grade. Students not completing any of the case studies as a result we ll lose 10% of their final grade.
This is enough to make or break a student s grade, between b and a. My suggestion is similar for the
critical thinking questions that are part of each week s activities. There are a lot of them and they
count for very little in terms of course grade(s).

American Sniper Chris Kyle Character Traits
Chris Kyle Personality Analysis The film American Sniper depicts the true story of Chris Kyle, a
former U.S. Navy SEAL. Kyle was a skilled marksman whose main objective was to protect his
fellow troops from above. Kyle performed his task very well and became the most lethal sniper in
U.S. Military history, tallying up over 160 confirmed kills. The film also shows many glimpses into
Kyle s personal life. A few such instances are: Kyle s up bringing, Kyle meeting and marrying his wife
Taya Kyle, the births of both their son and daughter, his brief visits at home after his deployments, his
life after being honorably discharged, and his unfortunate death. Chris Kyle s early life was very
influential in shaping his personality. Kyle was born on April 8th, 1974, and was the son of Wayne
Kyle, who was a church deacon and Sunday school teacher. Kyle s mother s name was Deby Lynn.
Kyle grew up in Odessa, Texas, and eventually went to college in Stephenville, Texas at Tarleton State
University where he studied agriculture for two years. One of the biggest influences in Kyle s early
life was his father. Kyle s father purchased him his first rifle at the age of eight, which they used to

It is no secret that it takes a special person to be admitted into the elite group of Navy SEALS. In
order to do this Kyle had to pass serval stages of test. The first was the Navy s form of basic training,
which he completed very easily. The Navy training is called BUDS, and it is used as a screening
method to find those who are weak and those who could be potential SEALS. After completing this
difficult training program Kyle began his grueling SEAL training. This training without a doubt
shaped Kyle s personality. It caused him to push his mind and body to places he thought he never
could. This led to a much deeper sense of loyalty, selflessness, mental toughness, and built bonds of

The Road Not Taken By David Orr Analysis
The existence of poetry as an artform predates literacy itself. Over the course of history, poetry grew
from a verbal form of art, existing mainly in religious hymns, to becoming the universal language of
the heart . The work of William Shakespeare and Edgar Allen Poe, some of the most notable poets of
history, has resonated with generations of Americans. Although they lived in a Pre industrial world,
their work remains powerful because the themes expressed in their artwork can still be applied to
modern society. On the contrary, protruding among this group of ancient poets is Robert Frost, whose
modern work remains just as powerful, shaping generations through his questions of existence, and
depiction of loneliness in an indifferent universe. One of Frost s most celebrated poems: The Road
Not Taken, is influential not only in the literary world, but also within American culture. The poems
subsequent ripple through American life is analyzed by David Orr In his essay The Most Misread
Poem in America. Here, Orr argues that the misread of The Road Not Taken magnifies the underlying
issues in society s understanding of both Frost and poetry as a whole.
In any educational field, there is an inherent gap in knowledge between those trained, and the common
citizen. Orr uses an analysis of the misread of The Road Not Taken to expose this subsequent ample
gap in poetic understanding between poetry educatprs and the rest of American society, when he
states:

Consulting gathered information from the previous year (2010) and used a Markov analysis to

is very stable for Tanglewood and we decided that the current workforce will be sufficient for the 2011
forecast. There are 10750 current employees in the Tanglewood stores in this region. The corporate

With this being an example then I would suggest that Tanglewood maybe initiate some kind of
incentive for these females to apply for jobs within the organization and move up the ladder which is a
well known fact that Tanglewood s core value is a standing relationship amongst its employees.
Promotion Practices Tanglewood is built on hard work and honesty, One of Tanglewood s core values
is to have an open floor when it comes to ideas within the organization. These new ideas are what
drive the company to be as successful as they are today. If you were to change this structure you
would be killing their corporate structure. Hard work and the ideas is the key to employees moving up
the chain of command. Hiring new graduates is another way to bring in new ideas to a company but it
has to be the correct job/ personality match for it to work. This is true with bringing in a manger with
experience into the company as well. If the core values of the company are different of that of the new
hires then your making a bigger issue within the organization. I would suggest that when making these
promotion or new hire decisions that they would first look from within the company and when all else
fails then look for that great fit from the outside workforce. Organizational Memo: When hiring and
promoting here at Tanglewood we want to give everyone the greatest chance of advancement as
possible. We want to be a company known for hard and honest workers.

Aerial Warfare Throughout The First And Second World Wars
The History of Aerial Warfare Throughout the First and Second World Wars When Aerial Warfare was
first introduced many thought it was useless, inferior, and just plain stupid. From biplanes to dropping
nuclear bombs, Aerial Warfare has come a long way. I am going to explain the advancements and
rapid adaptations Aerial Warfare made throughout the First and Second World Wars. In the beginning
of aerial warfare, it wasn t really warfare. It was more of Reconnaissance. Sources suggest the first use
of this Recon , was the Chinese, by using kites to fly people in the air to scout out the enemy. World
War 1 was the first legitimate war with air combat, and real advancements in the field. The Germans
heavily invested in aircraft technology, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Close Air Support was developed and fighters were formed to help with this such as the Stuka Dive
Bomber, and the British Tempest. Aircraft also began hunting tanks with large caliber machine guns
and unguided rockets as ammunition. Aircraft carriers were used on a large scale, and their true power
was shown at the Battle of Midway in the Pacific. This battle also showed how aircraft could use
torpedos and take down massive warships successfully. Using aircraft to transport supplies and troops
were now adopted, and paratroopers were starting to be used. Perhaps the most famous paratrooper
mission which was Operation Market Garden, was a nearly disastrous operation by the Allies in 1944.
Huge transport planes such as the JU 52, and the DC 3 could carry massive loads at decent speed,
which was effective for resupplying. Helicopters were soon developed, but were not really effective
during the war. Aircraft played a vital role in World War 2, and so many advancements and technology
changed because of it. In World War 1 air power was an addition to the war, but it didn t change the
outcome of many important campaigns of the war like World War 2 did. In conlusion, over both of the
World Wars aircraft warfare started from nothing and ended with nuclear bomb droppers and jet

Apology Of Woman
Eve´s Apology in Defense of Women, Lanier s contentious literary work from the seventeenth century,
seeks to justify Eve´s actions in the Garden of Eden. As it was written in the 17th century in British
society, where many women suffered inequality among social classes, this poem is reformist. The
Bible narrates the story of how Adam and Eve succumbed to sin in the third chapter of Genesis, The
Fall . The poet presents her argument by employing irony, sarcasm, oxymoron and superlatives
regarding the well known biblical story of how sin came into our world. She finds a way to gather this
context to prove defend women. Therefore, Amelia Lanier satirizes society´s stereotypes on the female
gender to emphasize the gender inequality found in patriarchal societies. ... Show more content on

In this stanza, she states why blame should fall the most on Adam. She mentions that he was most to
blame as he was first born and stronger (778 780). When the speaker says that strength might have
refused (779), she emphasizes that according to popular beliefs that men are stronger, Adam should
have been able to resist temptation. In Lines 777 through 784 Amelia employs the first stereotype
women are weaker than men. She ridicules this latter statement when she victimizes Eve describing
her as poore (784). Amelia Lanier continues accentuating the conventional idea that women are
fragile; for instance, in the third stanza the poet expresses poor women must endure it all ; this could
be interpreted in a very satirical

I chose to do a virtual tour of the Palace of Versailles. I am fascinated by the royal family so the Palace
of Versailles is deemed suitable because it is the home of the monarchy of France. I began my virtual
tour of the most famous room known as the Hall of Mirrors. As you walk through the room, you can
see chandeliers after chandeliers lined the center of the ceiling and to the sides. The room is structured
like a barrel vault with round arch windows symmetric to the mirrors reflecting the garden. Golden
sculptures of women are placed in between the mirrors against the marble wall. The vaulted ceilings
are covered with illustrations of the success of France painted by Le Brun. He also decorated the
rooms so his artistic vision can be seen everywhere. My initial reaction of the room was that it is very

defeating his enemies is one of the focus of the room. Surrounding it were trophies and weapons in

statement that Le Brun was trying to make is that he wanted to show that the king is very successful
during his reign because he defeated his enemies and that he was a very powerful man. The room
focuses on the French victories through illustrations on the ceilings. One painting that caught my eyes

Presentation of self outline Essay
Critical appreciation: Erving Goffman; The presentation of self in everyday life.
Erving Goffman was one of the most important Sociologists in the 20th century who focussed his
study on aspects of social life. It is often argued that Goffman was one of the twentieth century s most
remarkable practitioners of social science (Smith, 2006:1). He was born on the 11th June 1922 in
Alberta, Canada. His parents were Jewish and part of the group of Ukrainians who moved to Canada
before the beginning of the First World War. Initially Goffman studied Chemistry before moving to the
University of Toronto to study Anthropology and Sociology where he gained an understanding in

He also implies how an individual will be focussed on making a favourable show of him (a good
impression) which gives another explanation to why humans can be seen as actors in situations of
social interaction, they act how they think the audience (observers) want them to act. To summarise
his chapter on presentation Goffman s primary assumption is that individuals differ not by their
specific qualities, but by the situations they find themselves in to which they adopt different roles to
perform for the observer .
For this work Goffman gained inspiration from his own personal experiences, as his wife struggled
with mental illness and he chose to travel to the Shetland Islands to study the interaction in their
society. His wife s illness may have shaped his argument as another key piece of his work was
Asylums where he carried out fieldwork in a hospital where he wished to look at the social world of
an inmate. In his findings he was very critical and stated how behaviour that was deemed out of the
ordinary was simply someone not conforming to the rules and expectations of society. If those rules or
norms/values are broken that person would be viewed as an outsider and therefore displays an
inability to play the role of an actor .
A key theorist behind his work is Herbert Mead who published a book Mind, Self and Society and he
looked at the experiences of human beings and

Carole Boyce Davies discussion on Zora Neale Hurston s essay How It Feels to be Colored Me she
uses posits Hurston s proffering to travel piece of the way with visitors as a new way of thinking about
the periphery in academia . Beginning her chapter Coming to Terms with Theory, Boyce expresses
how outdated and inefficient the current theoretical practices have become. She states that scholars are
intellectually trapped by the hierarchical systems within scholarship. Her main critique comes from
the reality of upcoming scholars having to laboriously quote Euro American male scholars in order to
establish them within their field. Under this standard what we find is that in the constant referencing
of these European scholars the racial and cultural hierarchy of western society is sustained. Boyce
suggests that common favoring of European scholarly contributions reinforces structural biases
towards the consciousness of those in the periphery. As a result, western epistemology continues to
drive current scholarship through its standardization. And, moreover, European theory is falsely
applied to the estranged consciousnesses. The standardization of European scholarship places
limitations on how the marginal subject can articulate its existence. Barbara Christian s The Race for
Theory asks For whom are we doing what we are doing when we do literary criticism? Davies would
respond to this query by stating that current scholarship is written to and for the center. Based

Computed Tomography Advantages And Disadvantages
Computed Tomography (CT)
A CT scan, also called as X ray Computed Tomography (X ray CT) or Computerized Axial
Tomography (CAT ), makes use of computer processed combinations of many X ray images taken
from different angles to produce cross sectional (tomographic) images (virtual slices ) of specific areas
of a scanned object, allowing the user to see inside the object without cutting them.
Digital geometry processing is used to generate a three dimensional image of the inside of the object
from a large series of two dimensional radiographic images taken around a single axis of rotation.
Most common application of X ray CT is Medical Imaging. Its cross sectional images are used for
diagnostic and therapeutic purposes in various medical disciplines. ... Show more content on

Absolutist French Monarchs And The English Parliament
Absolutist French Monarchs and the English Parliament were two different political styles
implemented by two different countries in early modern Europe. Each government style was different
and the success it also varied. The French and English both had at least partial success, and
accomplished this with two very different ruling styles The English chose to govern through a style
known as monarchy. This system gave everyone a say in the government. English s governing body
consisted of a King, and Parliament. Parliament was represented by numerous people from various
backgrounds across the nation. The King, unlike in the past, did not have absolute power of the law;
the law was determined by the king in consultation with representatives of Parliament. Parliament also
oversaw other government affairs including the approving of taxes, passing laws, and handling
judicial business. Parliament also assisted the king whenever money needed to be raised for a new
cause, or advised during war and provided new military tactics. Through the leadership of the king and
guidance from parliament, England was able to modernize at a fast pace successfully. ... Show more

positions: noble, ministers, and secretaries. All of these positions were hand picked by the king. The
king and these government officials ruled from the royal court; the location of central governmental
machinery, and the place where powerful subjects had offices for themselves and their clients. The
king had absolute power in everything including important things like formulation of foreign policy,
making of war, secular power against religious authority, and the levying of taxes. This made it hard

Treatment Of Malignant Middle Cerebral Artery Infarction
DECOMPRESSIVE CRANIECTOMY FOR MALIGNANT MIDDLE CEREBRAL ARTERY
INFARCTION
INTRODUCTION
Stroke represents a public health issue that is affecting both developed and developing countries. A lot
money and time have been invested in attempts to improve outcome in these patients. The majority of
patients are treated with medical management. There are however few patients in which an occlusion
of the middle cerebral artery (MCA) can lead to progressive edema, mass effect and herniation of the
brain. As a consequence of this progressive rise in intracranial pressure surgical decompression of the
cranium is often considered creating a role for the neurosurgeon in the management of stroke patients.
I will present a case of a young boy with an underlying predisposing factor who presented with
malignant progression of an MCA infarct, that required surgical intervention.
CASE
A 14 year old boy presented to the Accident and Emergency department of the Kingston Public
Hospital with a history of acute left sided weakness. He was known to have sickle cell disease with the
HbSS genotype. He had previously presented with a stroke and had residual right sided weakness.
There was no history of headaches fever, vomiting, chest or joint pain. He was admitted to the medical
ward where treatment was instituted. On admission he had a Glasgow Coma Score (GCS) of 15 with
grade 2 power (MRC) in the upper limbs and grade 3 (MRC) in the lower limbs. Radiological

Russian and Chinese Advanced Persistent Threat Groups
Utica College
October 15, 2016
Introduction
In this paper I will discuss a total of four Advanced Persistent Threat Groups (APT). I will discuss
their motives, attack objectives, targets of the attacks, tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTP), and
attack vectors. I will propose strategies that would deter and provide defense against the group or that
type of threat. I will also discuss if the APT is state backed or if it is a rogue actor.
The four APT groups that I chose to discuss are APT 28 and APT 29 from Russia, PLA Unit 61398
and PLA Unit 78020 from China. I have chosen these four groups because they interested me while I
was researching the topic. They each have a little signature that makes them stand out. A few are
completely dependent on phishing campaigns when others are more streamlined and actually take the
holidays of their homeland off from their efforts.
Main Body
The first Advanced Persistent Threat Group (APT) I will discuss is APT28. APT28 is also known by
the names: Fancy Bear, Pawn Storm, Sofacy Group and Sednit . APT28 has been active since 2007
and targets political figures, government institutions, telecommunications and e crime services with a
concentration on European and Asian aerospace companies.

These valves are designed to control the direction of blood flow through the heart. The opening and
closing of these valves produce the heart beat sounds. When the heart beats, the valves close to keep
the blood form flowing backwards. The heart beats more than one hundred thousand times per day.
The valves must be able to flex, stretch and hold back pressure hundreds of million times in an
average lifetime. The mitral and aortic valves are on the left side of the heart. These are most
commonly affected by aging because the pressure is higher on this side. The right heart valves can be
damaged by infection or lung disease. Regardless of the valve damage, as they harden or weaken they
do not open properly and therefore blood flow may be blocked. Heart valve conditions may also be
congenital. Diseases such as rheumatic fever or bacterial infections may also scar or destroy the
valves. Heart valve diseases fall into two categories, stenosis and incompetence. The stenotic heart
valve prevents full opening of the valve because of the stiffened valve tissue, therefore the heart works
harder to push blood throughout the valve. The incompetent valve cause insufficient blood circulation
by permitting backflow of blood on the heart. There are two main types of prosthetic valve designs:
mechanical and bioprosthetic (tissue). Mechanical heart valves were first implanted in 1952. Since
then, over 30 different mechanical designs have originated. The

9. Outline the role of electrodes in the electron gun, the deflection plates or coils and the fluorescent
screen in the cathode ray tube of conventional TV displays and oscilloscopes.
CATHODE RAY TUBE:
 Electron Gun used to produce fast moving streams of electrons. o The electrodes have two roles: 1)
emit electrons to form a stream 2) accelerate the electrons (accomplished by a very large potential
difference between the cathode and anode) o The anode has a hole in it to allow the stream of
electrons to leave the electron gun.
 Deflection system used to change the direction of the electron stream o For the electron beam to
create an image on the screen, the beam must sweep over the screen rapidly.
 This is accomplished by the deflection plates that guide the electron bean to particular parts of the
screen.
 Fluorescent Screen coated in phosphorus that emits light when struck by the electrons. o This
makes the position of the electron beam visible.

Wilson disease is one of the common metabolic liver disorders prevailing worldwide. The diagnosis is
always difficult in children [1]. It is also a chronic liver disease for which effective therapy is available
therefore, early diagnosis is crucial. However because of its varied range of clinical manifestation, at

A six year male child presented with chief complaints of yellow discoloration of eyes and associated
history of passing high coloured urine for three months. It was associated with nausea, diffuse
abdominal pain and decreased appetite. There was no history of irritability, change in behaviour or
altered sleep pattern and no bleeding from any site. He had not received blood transfusion any time in
the past. There was no similar illness any of the family members. The child was admitted to a private
institution for a two week period, but as there was no improvement, he was referred to our institute. At
admission, he was afebrile and vitals were stable. General physical examination revealed mild pallor
and severe jaundice. Gastrointestinal systemic examination revealed moderate hepatomegaly along
with an enlarged left lobe of liver. There were no other clinical features suggestive of chronic liver
disease. Investigations revealed a total serum bilirubin of 15.6mg/dl with conjugated fraction of

Canadian Boarding Schools Case Study
Both in American and in Canadian boarding school systems, European ways of behavior and thinking
became the standards in all aspects of life. Children could speak only in English, and they studied, for
instance, history from a biased, European point of view, and their own cultures were constantly
rejected and attacked (Haig Brown 77, 90).
In Canada, until the 1940s, children participated in classes dedicated to academic subjects for no
longer than two hours a day (Haig Brown 90). They spent the rest of the day with religious training
and work. The program for civilizing Aboriginal children included teaching them skills required for
gardening, farming, cooking, sewing and cleaning, which resulted in the fact that the students
maintained their schools. Moreover, sometimes the schools even gained profit from the work of the
children. It is also important to mention that even if students experienced all aspects of proper
housekeeping through domestic training, there was a strong contrast between Native homes and the

Christianity as a mark of civilization (Dawson 82). Therefore, religious training played an important
role in educating Native students both in the U.S. and in Canada. According to the Meriam Report,
religious education of American Indians was unsuccessful because most missionaries knew little of
Native religion or life and they believed that it was necessary to destroy what the Indian people had,

Changes In Polar Bear Eating Habits
On the western shore of the Hudson Bay, biologists have been studying the drastic changed in polar
bear diets and their new eating habits. Through their studies of polar bear scat and video surveillance,
the biologists have come to the conclusion that polar bears are beginning to adopt a new form of food.
They are beginning to eat from the abundant source of snow geese. The snow geese have been
traveling farther north in the spring to nest in the grassy, arctic marshes. Here they lay their eggs,
vulnerable to predators such as the polar bear. Due to the global warming, the arctic ice has begun to
melt at a much faster pace. This means that polar bears have less time and less ice to hunt for seals.

are considered by the National Park Service, to have a intimate relationship with the land. They are the
Miccosukee Tribe of Indians: these are members of the Native Indian Tribes that inhabited the area,
long before land development). And the second group, the Gladesmen: husbands and sons who built
small homes in the everglades (National Park Service, August 01, 2016). Each of the groups have been
impacted differently, but both agree the federal government has been unable to maintain the mass land

(Babbitt, 2007), (Dedekorkut 2003) Both the federal and state agencies, along the American people are
dedicated to clean up the water flows in the Everglades. With this, the Everglades Restoration, as
Babbitt points out, is an example of a national commitment to large scale restoration of degraded
ecosystems (Babbitt 2007). However , currently, both the public and the political culture rely heavily
on natural resource science for answers the many phenomena that exist in water resource policy.
Traditional laws such as the Clean Water Act sets precedent regarding the nature of pollutants and
navigable water flows. The South Florida Water Management District decision to dump these
phosphorus pollutants into the Okeechobee River without the proper permission, is an example of
existing laws impacting state activities when it comes to water management. The Everglades
restoration project, which established to clean up ecosystems and waterways for both current and
future generations, has encountered many difficulties stemming from either damage that has been
done to the environment was in a fact a result of mother nature, or a result from the activities pursued
by mankind. The case involving the South Florida Water Management District can be argued to have
been caused by the agencies activities within the

command systems.
This paper will provide my reflection about mission command, and how I will incorporate principles
of mission command such as build cohesive teams through mutual trust, create share understanding,
provide guidance of Commander s intent which will inspire self discipline, produce mission order,
accept prudent risk, and exercise discipline initiative in my philosophy in future assignments as a
Sergeant Major.
Build Cohesive Team/s What better way to motivated troops, what better way to get cooperation,
mutual respect, and sense of pride than creating cohesive teams. As their Senior Enlisted Advisor, I
need to consider a key ingredient that it is essential to have a good cohesive team and that is trust.
Without trust, anything else related to mission command or look for cooperation to support the
commander s intent will be irrelevant. To earn the troops trust I must realize that everybody is human
and it is ok to make mistakes, and that is how we grow and learn, I must give all the troops the tools to
succeed, and to understand that there will be challenges and blockages that might prevent to meet the

The Depth of Diction in Richard Hayden’s Those Winter Sundays
When reading a poem it is important to understand that the chosen diction possesses more depth
beyond what is literally meant. Information hidden beneath metaphorical verses serves to not only
give insight into the writers thinking process, but also to communicate with readers. Richard Hayden
s, Those Winter Sundays, serves as a poetic narrative describing the actions taken by a father to ensure
his family s well being. Hayden s modern sonnet generates multiple concepts of love, sacrifice and
regret which assist the reader in understanding the limitless capacity of someone s devotion and the
recipients of this affection lack of gratitude. The title of any given work of literature is always
significant to the author s meaning and intent of the work. Hayden meticulously inserts an emotional
symbolism in the title of the poem which already opens the reader s eyes to the incoming
melodramatic nostalgic mood of the poem. Reading the title as a whole, one will assume that because
the words are in past tense form, the work will have a reminiscent feel to it. Nevertheless, when the
words are broken down and analyzed individually, more information about its meaning can be
derived. Firstly, the word those from the title serves a dual purpose. On one level, those illustrates
distance which will possibly allude to the speakers distance with his father during childhood.
Secondly, being that the word is pluralized, the use of those in the title also suggests something that is

Impact of the Presence of Sugar Daddies in the European...
Introduction 271 words 2,070 overall
The main aim of this paper is to identify and discuss a contemporary issue that affects operations
management, strategic management and human resource management within the specific industry.
Building on the authors interest this paper will focus on the arising issues and problems related with
the rapid growth of the influence of private and public (to lesser extent) benefactor owners within the
European football industry (Lang et al., 2011). The European model of Sport (Holt, 2009) refers to the
overall design of the European Football Industry and implies a guideline that organisations has to

These are strategic management, operations management and human resource management, which
will be briefly explained in this subchapter. To better understand the sugar daddy phenomenon it is
important to define it within the right historical and economical context. The sugar daddy term refers
to wealthy individual who decided to invest large amount of their capital into taking over the football
club (Lang et al., 2011) and then to inject even more money in order to acquire better coaching and
playing talent, hence to increase the overall team quality (Madden, 2012). However there were many
private owners of football clubs in the past. Wealthy investors like Jack Walker (Blackburn Rovers
F.C); Silvio Berlusconi (AC Milan) or Masimo Moratti (Internazionale Milano) (Lang et al., 2011)
managed their clubs in a way they could achieve both sporting success and its long term financial
stability. Only recently football clubs became an expensive toy for even wealthier individuals (Kuper,
2009). The core example and a kind of archetype of modern sugar daddy is Chelsea London Football
Club owner Roman Abramovich who injected a total of £880 million into his club between 2003 and
2012 (Franck Lang, 2012; Madden, 2012). He was then followed by others: Sheikh Mansour Bin
Zayed Al Nahyan bought Manchaster City (England) in 2008 for £800 million (Franck Lang, 2012);

India during the return leg of the seventh voyage and was buried in Calicut or at sea, although some

opportunities in Calicut.

Investigating The Distribution Patterns Of Three Species...
Biology 2.6 Achievement Standard 91158 Cellana Denticulata, Chamaesipho Columna and
Chamaesipho Brunnea are three species living in the intertidal zone of the rocky shore. I am
investigating the distribution pattern of these three species and the factors affecting the zonation
pattern of these organisms. The aim of the investigation was to analyse and compare the distribution
of the separate species, regarding the adaptations and the intraspecific and interspecific interactions
whether being competitive, cooperative or exploitative. The investigation took place at Sirens Rocks.
(see photo right) The distribution of these species are affected by abiotic and biotic factors of which
limit the upper vertical and lower vertical limit that the three organisms can endure, thus providing a
fundamental niche where the organisms inhabit. The ecological pattern presented at the location of
Sirens Rocks is Zonation, which is a community pattern, showing visual bands or zones of which is
created by the varying tolerance to different abiotic factors and biotic factors. The observable
community pattern of zonation, not taken from the given location of sirens rocks. Cellana Denticulata

  • 2. Quality Matters Related Issues And Course Design ENV 1053 and ENV 1073 Quality Matters related issues/course design: There are no major issues related to Quality Matters; I will touch upon a few of the design issues that came up during the review. One of the really good things about these courses is in the incorporation of case studies. Each week or chapter features a case study that s taken right from the course textbook. I ve advocated in other courses for the use of case studies and I think this course serves as a starting point to incorporate them into these other courses. The challenge I think here is that while the case studies are incorporated into the students final grade, the stakes are so low that students may complete only a few or none of the case studies. However the overall grade for discussion forums/case studies is only 4% of the final grade. As such students can complete none of the discussion forums/case studies and still receive a strong grade in the course. My suggestion would be to limit the number of case studies to four, and create case studies that combine several of the weeks for units into one, each worth 2 1/2% of the final grade. Students not completing any of the case studies as a result we ll lose 10% of their final grade. This is enough to make or break a student s grade, between b and a. My suggestion is similar for the critical thinking questions that are part of each week s activities. There are a lot of them and they count for very little in terms of course grade(s). There is ... • 3. American Sniper Chris Kyle Character Traits Chris Kyle Personality Analysis The film American Sniper depicts the true story of Chris Kyle, a former U.S. Navy SEAL. Kyle was a skilled marksman whose main objective was to protect his fellow troops from above. Kyle performed his task very well and became the most lethal sniper in U.S. Military history, tallying up over 160 confirmed kills. The film also shows many glimpses into Kyle s personal life. A few such instances are: Kyle s up bringing, Kyle meeting and marrying his wife Taya Kyle, the births of both their son and daughter, his brief visits at home after his deployments, his life after being honorably discharged, and his unfortunate death. Chris Kyle s early life was very influential in shaping his personality. Kyle was born on April 8th, 1974, and was the son of Wayne Kyle, who was a church deacon and Sunday school teacher. Kyle s mother s name was Deby Lynn. Kyle grew up in Odessa, Texas, and eventually went to college in Stephenville, Texas at Tarleton State University where he studied agriculture for two years. One of the biggest influences in Kyle s early life was his father. Kyle s father purchased him his first rifle at the age of eight, which they used to hunt ... The first was the Navy s form of basic training, which he completed very easily. The Navy training is called BUDS, and it is used as a screening method to find those who are weak and those who could be potential SEALS. After completing this difficult training program Kyle began his grueling SEAL training. This training without a doubt shaped Kyle s personality. It caused him to push his mind and body to places he thought he never could. This led to a much deeper sense of loyalty, selflessness, mental toughness, and built bonds of ... • 4. The Road Not Taken By David Orr Analysis The existence of poetry as an artform predates literacy itself. Over the course of history, poetry grew from a verbal form of art, existing mainly in religious hymns, to becoming the universal language of the heart . The work of William Shakespeare and Edgar Allen Poe, some of the most notable poets of history, has resonated with generations of Americans. Although they lived in a Pre industrial world, their work remains powerful because the themes expressed in their artwork can still be applied to modern society. On the contrary, protruding among this group of ancient poets is Robert Frost, whose modern work remains just as powerful, shaping generations through his questions of existence, and depiction of loneliness in an indifferent universe. One of Frost s most celebrated poems: The Road Not Taken, is influential not only in the literary world, but also within American culture. The poems subsequent ripple through American life is analyzed by David Orr In his essay The Most Misread Poem in America. Here, Orr argues that the misread of The Road Not Taken magnifies the underlying issues in society s understanding of both Frost and poetry as a whole. In any educational field, there is an inherent gap in knowledge between those trained, and the common citizen. Orr uses an analysis of the misread of The Road Not Taken to expose this subsequent ample gap in poetic understanding between poetry educatprs and the rest of American society, when he states: The first audience is ... The Washington market is very stable for Tanglewood and we decided that the current workforce will be sufficient for the 2011 forecast. With this being an example then I would suggest that Tanglewood maybe initiate some kind of incentive for these females to apply for jobs within the organization and move up the ladder which is a well known fact that Tanglewood s core value is a standing relationship amongst its employees. Promotion Practices Tanglewood is built on hard work and honesty, One of Tanglewood s core values is to have an open floor when it comes to ideas within the organization. These new ideas are what drive the company to be as successful as they are today. If you were to change this structure you would be killing their corporate structure. Hard work and the ideas is the key to employees moving up the chain of command. Hiring new graduates is another way to bring in new ideas to a company but it has to be the correct job/ personality match for it to work. This is true with bringing in a manger with experience into the company as well. If the core values of the company are different of that of the new hires then your making a bigger issue within the organization. I would suggest that when making these promotion or new hire decisions that they would first look from within the company and when all else fails then look for that great fit from the outside workforce. Organizational Memo: When hiring and promoting here at Tanglewood we want to give everyone the greatest chance of advancement as possible. We want to be a company known for hard and honest workers. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Aerial Warfare Throughout The First And Second World Wars The History of Aerial Warfare Throughout the First and Second World Wars When Aerial Warfare was first introduced many thought it was useless, inferior, and just plain stupid. From biplanes to dropping nuclear bombs, Aerial Warfare has come a long way. I am going to explain the advancements and rapid adaptations Aerial Warfare made throughout the First and Second World Wars. In the beginning of aerial warfare, it wasn t really warfare. It was more of Reconnaissance. Sources suggest the first use of this Recon , was the Chinese, by using kites to fly people in the air to scout out the enemy. World War 1 was the first legitimate war with air combat, and real advancements in the field. The Germans heavily invested in aircraft technology, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Close Air Support was developed and fighters were formed to help with this such as the Stuka Dive Bomber, and the British Tempest. Aircraft also began hunting tanks with large caliber machine guns and unguided rockets as ammunition. Aircraft carriers were used on a large scale, and their true power was shown at the Battle of Midway in the Pacific. This battle also showed how aircraft could use torpedos and take down massive warships successfully. Using aircraft to transport supplies and troops were now adopted, and paratroopers were starting to be used. Perhaps the most famous paratrooper mission which was Operation Market Garden, was a nearly disastrous operation by the Allies in 1944. Huge transport planes such as the JU 52, and the DC 3 could carry massive loads at decent speed, which was effective for resupplying. Helicopters were soon developed, but were not really effective during the war. Aircraft played a vital role in World War 2, and so many advancements and technology changed because of it. In World War 1 air power was an addition to the war, but it didn t change the outcome of many important campaigns of the war like World War 2 did. • 7. Apology Of Woman Eve´s Apology in Defense of Women, Lanier s contentious literary work from the seventeenth century, seeks to justify Eve´s actions in the Garden of Eden. As it was written in the 17th century in British society, where many women suffered inequality among social classes, this poem is reformist. The Bible narrates the story of how Adam and Eve succumbed to sin in the third chapter of Genesis, The Fall . The poet presents her argument by employing irony, sarcasm, oxymoron and superlatives regarding the well known biblical story of how sin came into our world. She finds a way to gather this context to prove defend women. Therefore, Amelia Lanier satirizes society´s stereotypes on the female gender to emphasize the gender inequality found in patriarchal societies. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this stanza, she states why blame should fall the most on Adam. She mentions that he was most to blame as he was first born and stronger (778 780). When the speaker says that strength might have refused (779), she emphasizes that according to popular beliefs that men are stronger, Adam should have been able to resist temptation. In Lines 777 through 784 Amelia employs the first stereotype women are weaker than men. She ridicules this latter statement when she victimizes Eve describing her as poore (784). Amelia Lanier continues accentuating the conventional idea that women are fragile; for instance, in the third stanza the poet expresses poor women must endure it all ; this could be interpreted in a very satirical ... Erving Goffman was one of the most important Sociologists in the 20th century who focussed his study on aspects of social life. It is often argued that Goffman was one of the twentieth century s most remarkable practitioners of social science (Smith, 2006:1). He was born on the 11th June 1922 in Alberta, Canada. His parents were Jewish and part of the group of Ukrainians who moved to Canada before the beginning of the First World War. He also implies how an individual will be focussed on making a favourable show of him (a good impression) which gives another explanation to why humans can be seen as actors in situations of social interaction, they act how they think the audience (observers) want them to act. To summarise his chapter on presentation Goffman s primary assumption is that individuals differ not by their specific qualities, but by the situations they find themselves in to which they adopt different roles to perform for the observer . For this work Goffman gained inspiration from his own personal experiences, as his wife struggled with mental illness and he chose to travel to the Shetland Islands to study the interaction in their society. His wife s illness may have shaped his argument as another key piece of his work was Asylums where he carried out fieldwork in a hospital where he wished to look at the social world of an inmate. In his findings he was very critical and stated how behaviour that was deemed out of the ordinary was simply someone not conforming to the rules and expectations of society. If those rules or norms/values are broken that person would be viewed as an outsider and therefore displays an inability to play the role of an actor . A key theorist behind his work is Herbert Mead who published a book Mind, Self and Society and he looked at the experiences of human beings and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Caribbean American Women Carole Boyce Davies discussion on Zora Neale Hurston s essay How It Feels to be Colored Me she uses posits Hurston s proffering to travel piece of the way with visitors as a new way of thinking about the periphery in academia . Beginning her chapter Coming to Terms with Theory, Boyce expresses how outdated and inefficient the current theoretical practices have become. She states that scholars are intellectually trapped by the hierarchical systems within scholarship. Her main critique comes from the reality of upcoming scholars having to laboriously quote Euro American male scholars in order to establish them within their field. Under this standard what we find is that in the constant referencing of these European scholars the racial and cultural hierarchy of western society is sustained. Boyce suggests that common favoring of European scholarly contributions reinforces structural biases towards the consciousness of those in the periphery. As a result, western epistemology continues to drive current scholarship through its standardization. And, moreover, European theory is falsely applied to the estranged consciousnesses. The standardization of European scholarship places limitations on how the marginal subject can articulate its existence. Barbara Christian s The Race for Theory asks For whom are we doing what we are doing when we do literary criticism? Davies would respond to this query by stating that current scholarship is written to and for the center. Based ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Absolutist French Monarchs And The English Parliament Absolutist French Monarchs and the English Parliament were two different political styles implemented by two different countries in early modern Europe. Each government style was different and the success it also varied. The French and English both had at least partial success, and accomplished this with two very different ruling styles The English chose to govern through a style known as monarchy. This system gave everyone a say in the government. English s governing body consisted of a King, and Parliament. Parliament was represented by numerous people from various backgrounds across the nation. The King, unlike in the past, did not have absolute power of the law; the law was determined by the king in consultation with representatives of Parliament. Parliament also oversaw other government affairs including the approving of taxes, passing laws, and handling judicial business. Parliament also assisted the king whenever money needed to be raised for a new cause, or advised during war and provided new military tactics. Treatment Of Malignant Middle Cerebral Artery Infarction DECOMPRESSIVE CRANIECTOMY FOR MALIGNANT MIDDLE CEREBRAL ARTERY INFARCTION INTRODUCTION Stroke represents a public health issue that is affecting both developed and developing countries. A lot money and time have been invested in attempts to improve outcome in these patients. The majority of patients are treated with medical management. There are however few patients in which an occlusion of the middle cerebral artery (MCA) can lead to progressive edema, mass effect and herniation of the brain. As a consequence of this progressive rise in intracranial pressure surgical decompression of the cranium is often considered creating a role for the neurosurgeon in the management of stroke patients. I will present a case of a young boy with an underlying predisposing factor who presented with malignant progression of an MCA infarct, that required surgical intervention. CASE A 14 year old boy presented to the Accident and Emergency department of the Kingston Public Hospital with a history of acute left sided weakness. He was known to have sickle cell disease with the HbSS genotype. He had previously presented with a stroke and had residual right sided weakness. There was no history of headaches fever, vomiting, chest or joint pain. He was admitted to the medical ward where treatment was instituted. Critical National Infrastructures And National Security Arthur Sions CYB 633 Critical National Infrastructures and National Security Week Seven Research Paper Russian and Chinese Advanced Persistent Threat Groups Utica College October 15, 2016 Introduction In this paper I will discuss a total of four Advanced Persistent Threat Groups (APT). I will discuss their motives, attack objectives, targets of the attacks, tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTP), and attack vectors. I will propose strategies that would deter and provide defense against the group or that type of threat. I will also discuss if the APT is state backed or if it is a rogue actor. The four APT groups that I chose to discuss are APT 28 and APT 29 from Russia, PLA Unit 61398 and PLA Unit 78020 from China. The opening and closing of these valves produce the heart beat sounds. When the heart beats, the valves close to keep the blood form flowing backwards. The heart beats more than one hundred thousand times per day. The valves must be able to flex, stretch and hold back pressure hundreds of million times in an average lifetime. The mitral and aortic valves are on the left side of the heart. These are most commonly affected by aging because the pressure is higher on this side. The right heart valves can be damaged by infection or lung disease. Regardless of the valve damage, as they harden or weaken they do not open properly and therefore blood flow may be blocked. Heart valve conditions may also be congenital. Diseases such as rheumatic fever or bacterial infections may also scar or destroy the valves. Heart valve diseases fall into two categories, stenosis and incompetence. The stenotic heart valve prevents full opening of the valve because of the stiffened valve tissue, therefore the heart works harder to push blood throughout the valve. The incompetent valve cause insufficient blood circulation by permitting backflow of blood on the heart. There are two main types of prosthetic valve designs: mechanical and bioprosthetic (tissue). Mechanical heart valves were first implanted in 1952. Since then, over 30 different mechanical designs have originated. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

CATHODE RAY TUBE:  Electron Gun used to produce fast moving streams of electrons. o The electrodes have two roles: 1) emit electrons to form a stream 2) accelerate the electrons (accomplished by a very large potential difference between the cathode and anode) o The anode has a hole in it to allow the stream of electrons to leave the electron gun.  Deflection system used to change the direction of the electron stream o For the electron beam to create an image on the screen, the beam must sweep over the screen rapidly.  This is accomplished by the deflection plates that guide the electron bean to particular parts of the screen.  Fluorescent Screen coated in phosphorus that emits light when struck by the electrons. o This makes the position of the electron beam visible. ... Children could speak only in English, and they studied, for instance, history from a biased, European point of view, and their own cultures were constantly rejected and attacked (Haig Brown 77, 90). In Canada, until the 1940s, children participated in classes dedicated to academic subjects for no longer than two hours a day (Haig Brown 90). They spent the rest of the day with religious training and work. The program for civilizing Aboriginal children included teaching them skills required for gardening, farming, cooking, sewing and cleaning, which resulted in the fact that the students maintained their schools. Through their studies of polar bear scat and video surveillance, the biologists have come to the conclusion that polar bears are beginning to adopt a new form of food. They are beginning to eat from the abundant source of snow geese. The snow geese have been traveling farther north in the spring to nest in the grassy, arctic marshes. Here they lay their eggs, vulnerable to predators such as the polar bear. Due to the global warming, the arctic ice has begun to melt at a much faster pace. Information hidden beneath metaphorical verses serves to not only give insight into the writers thinking process, but also to communicate with readers. Richard Hayden s, Those Winter Sundays, serves as a poetic narrative describing the actions taken by a father to ensure his family s well being. Hayden s modern sonnet generates multiple concepts of love, sacrifice and regret which assist the reader in understanding the limitless capacity of someone s devotion and the recipients of this affection lack of gratitude. The title of any given work of literature is always significant to the author s meaning and intent of the work. Hayden meticulously inserts an emotional symbolism in the title of the poem which already opens the reader s eyes to the incoming melodramatic nostalgic mood of the poem. Reading the title as a whole, one will assume that because the words are in past tense form, the work will have a reminiscent feel to it. Nevertheless, when the words are broken down and analyzed individually, more information about its meaning can be derived. Firstly, the word those from the title serves a dual purpose. On one level, those illustrates distance which will possibly allude to the speakers distance with his father during childhood. Secondly, being that the word is pluralized, the use of those in the title also suggests something that is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To better understand the sugar daddy phenomenon it is important to define it within the right historical and economical context. The sugar daddy term refers to wealthy individual who decided to invest large amount of their capital into taking over the football club (Lang et al., 2011) and then to inject even more money in order to acquire better coaching and playing talent, hence to increase the overall team quality (Madden, 2012). However there were many private owners of football clubs in the past. Wealthy investors like Jack Walker (Blackburn Rovers F.C); Silvio Berlusconi (AC Milan) or Masimo Moratti (Internazionale Milano) (Lang et al., 2011) managed their clubs in a way they could achieve both sporting success and its long term financial stability. Only recently football clubs became an expensive toy for even wealthier individuals (Kuper, 2009). The core example and a kind of archetype of modern sugar daddy is Chelsea London Football Club owner Roman Abramovich who injected a total of £880 million into his club between 2003 and 2012 (Franck Lang, 2012; Madden, 2012).
