1. Which of the following statements about heat is false? A) If heat flows into a system, the extra
energy of the system appears in the form of internal energy. B) A hot object possesses more heat than a
cold object. C) If the system and surroundings are in thermal equilibrium, there is no heat flow
between them. D) A process in which heat flows out of a system is said to be exothermic. E) Heat is a
form of energy flow. B is false. If you compare a cup of water at 25oC and a bath tub of water at
20oC, the cup of water may be warmer, but there are many fewer atoms than the bathtub of water, so
there can actually be more heat in a colder object, but it is spread out throughout many more atoms so
the temperature can be lower. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
X rays have the shortest wave length and frequency is inversely proportional to the wavelength so it
has the highest frequency, therefore x rays will be first in the list. Ultraviolet has the next highest
being of shorter wavelength than visible light. Infrared is of longer wavelength than visible light and
microwaves are some of the longest wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation. 9. What is the
frequency of a photon having an energy of 8.56 x 10 16 J? (c = 3.00 x 108 m/s, h= 6.63 x 10 34 J s) A)
3.88 x 1026 Hz B) 2.32 x 10 10 Hz C) 1.29 x 1018 Hz D) 2.58 x 10 27 Hz E) 2.57 x 10 7 Hz The
answer is B. Energy = planks constant * wavenumber and wave number = speed of light divided by
frequency so energy = planks * speed of light / frequency or E = h*(c/v) and we rearrange to solve for
v so V = h * c / E = (6.63*10 34) * (3*108) / 8.56 * 10 16 = 2.32 x 10 10 s 1 also known as Hz 10.

The New Hero of Aeneas Essay
The New Hero of Aeneas
Can myopia afflict an individual with so severe a malady to the extreme of proclaiming, If you take
from Vergilius his diction and metre, what do you leave him ? Unless we take this statement as a
neophyte joke, we may not be able to continue. The objective of this essay is to clean the bifocals of
those whom I presumed after reading the Aeneid as a botched up replica of the Iliad and the Odyssey
conclude that it is indeed so and go about perpetuating such calumny. Hence, to answer the obvious, if
we strip Vergilius of his diction and metre, we leave him a new type of hero. Well, actually he leaves
us a new type of hero, a hero that is foreign to the golden age of Homer. He presents a new ideal of ...

Although he opens up with This is the tale of arms and of a man and suggests that his hero is another
Achilles, or Odysseus, he has, before the end of the first paragraph, shown that he reaches beyond
Aeneas to the long history that followed from him: and that was the origin of the Latin nation, the
Lords of Alba, and the proud battlements of Rome (I, 6 7). Soon after wards, when he has noted the
obstacles that the Trojans meet in their wanderings, he again ends a period in the similar note: Such
was the cost in heavy toil of beginning the life of Rome (I, 33). Once again, when Venus complains
that her son Aeneas is unjustly treated, Jupiter replies not only by promising that all will be well for
Aeneas but by giving a prophetic sketch of Roman history to Julius Caesar. This reward, which the
ancestor is to receive, is much more than his own success or glory, more even than his settlement in
Italy. It is the assurance of the Roman destiny, of universal and unending dominion: To Romans I set
no boundary in space or time. I have granted them dominion, and it has no end (I, 278 79). As we can
see, at the outset Vergilius shows what kind of destiny is the subject of his poem. The wanderings,
sufferings and ultimate success of Aeneas and his followers are but a preliminary and preparation for a
greater theme. Secondly, there is different theme in Vergilius art. The fundamental

Florida Recruit Case Study
Florida Recruiting: Inaugural Early Signing Day Preview
Tomorrow marks the first early signing period for college football recruits. Prospects from around the
country will be shutting down their recruitment processes, signing, and early enrolling to their
program of choice.
Dan Mullen was introduced as the 27th head coach in Florida Gators history just three weeks prior to
the inaugural signing period.
Despite seven de commitments from the Gators 2018 recruiting class since the arrival of Mullen, this
staff have put themselves in a position to close out the early signing period with a profusion of
momentum.

The opportunity of playing time awaits Jones in Gainesville and many believe he will sign his letter of
intent to the Gators on Wednesday.
Prediction: Florida
DB Trey Dean (Hampton, Ga.) Dean is another big time prospect that seems to be eyeing the Gators
more than other programs.
Dean de committed from the Tennessee Volunteers two weeks ago, and ever since, the Gators have
made a pursuit at landing the nations 22nd ranked safety.
Dean (6 foot 2, 180 pounds) is a long, athletic defensive back that possesses tremendous football IQ.
His length at defensive back benefits him in jump ball situations, allowing him to make a play on the
ball at its highest point.
Following an official visit to the Gators this past weekend, I expect Florida to seal the deal with Dean.
Florida also recently hired the Volunteers defensive back coach from a season ago (Dean s former
coach he committed to), making the pitch to Dean much easier.
Dean would be the fourth safety prospect to sign for the Gators on Wednesday. The staff made this
unit a priority on the trail and it will pay off during the inaugural early signing

The Big Apple Can Be Rough At Times
Stand Strong Leila
Growing up in the Big Apple can be rough at times; especially for 17 year old Leila Ashford. Leila s
mom died when she was 10. She now lives in a tiny apartment with her father. Her father works in a
big business and barely has time for Leila. When her mom was still alive, Leila was enrolled in a
dance class; she was momma s little ballerina. Ballet was Leila s biggest dream. After her mom died,
her dad got really upset and quit his job. Ever since, there hasn t been any extra money for Leila to
reapply, but she didn t let that stop her. Everyday after school, Leila would go out onto the patio and
dance until sunset. She was determined to be a professional dancer some day.
Instead of being outgoing, like most of the students at her school, Leila was quiet and shy. She didn t
have any friends because she devoted all her time to dancing. All of her teachers tried to persuade her
to join different clubs, but none of them interested her. Finally a teacher confronted her and asked her
what she liked to do.
I like to dance. Leila replied.
The teacher mentioned Leila s old dance studio and she ran away crying. That night she missed her
dance studio more than ever.
Senior Year
When Leila went back to school for her final year of high school she saw that construction had been
done over the summer. When she walked past the gym, she saw a door with a pair of plaster ballet
shoes mounted above it. A familiar smile crossed her face. She might be able to go back

The Epidemic Of Fake Accounts
The online anonymity issue that arose ever since the internet had the ability to create profiles has
grown to a something much re than some face every day. Millions of fake accounts engulf us while
feeding us untrustworthy texts without even knowing. These fake accounts have the most privileges
when the secret of who the really are is never released. Having anonymity on social media gives users
some sort of safety cape to be able to possibly say whatever they feel. Some people take this tool and
use it negatively while others ignore it or even may use it positively. The epidemic of fake accounts
taking over the internet has been questioned to have an effect on those creating it and how they may
act differently thanks to having anonymity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This tool of anonymity can be used in a positive or negative way. Some may use it for stating what
they feel freely while other abuse the ability by using it against others. If viewers do not know who is
behind the accounts, they cannot make any logical judgments simply due to lack of information about
the profile. Because of the leeway anons have online, their behavior is lead to be less restricted and
more unbounded. Imagine being online under a fake name (or no name at all) and freely stating your
thoughts on the recent presidential campaign. The anonymous cape you gain from having a hidden
profile allows users to be more confident in their opinions their posting (Palme 3). Sure, it could upset
viewers or even be relatable on the other side, but no one would know that you were the one behind
that statement. It is almost as if what is being said anonymously is protected, so it does not matter
what you say! Being able to go online anonymously has its positives and negatives. Users hiding
behind these anonymous accounts seem to have a boost of confidence online when they know that
their identity is unknown. On the other hand, bad anonymity has become somewhat famous on social
media. Bullying, and so called catfishing both assist bad anonymity into getting its name categorized
into untrustworthiness.

Ray Kroc Research Paper
In America: A Concise History, chapter twenty six is titled The Modern State and the Age of
Liberalism, 1945 1980 and discusses topics such as the Baby Boom, the GI Bill and many other
topics. One topic that peaked my interest was the subsection about fast food and shopping malls;
specifically, fast food. In researching fast food, I came across quite a few facts that I was completely
unaware of. Facts such as when fast food first was introduced to the world, what the first fast food
restaurant was in the United States, different forms of the fast food industry through time, and the fast
food industry boom. It turns out that the fast food industry s history didn t begin with a building with a
window that cars pulled up to. The beginning of this industry took place in Ancient Rome when
apartment buildings became very popular because of their limited to no kitchen space (History). This
is when many people took advantage of street vendors and walk up restaurants. It ... Show more

offers to pay him to drive her into the woods and look for her daughter. He replied, I wouldn t charge
anybody anything to search for a child s body. But she s not in the woods. Nothing could have stayed
hidden, the way these woods were searched (165). By offering to help the child s mother the
paperhanger gains the mother s trust. To the reader, he appears to be helping the mother during a time
of need, making him a decent friend. The paperhanger manipulated the situation, to get the girl s
mother to trust him and consequently leave with him. He knew the child would not be found, not
because the woods were extensively searched, but because he remains. The paperhanger was supposed
to drive the child s mother to the woods, but instead drives her to a cemetery. After noticing that some
of the graves had been dismantled and robbed, she tells the paperhanger. He responded by saying, You
can t rob the dead. They have nothing left to steal (167). The woman was shocked by his response and
then asked him if he had robbed the graves. He responded by saying, The line between grave robbing

What Are The Causes Of Inequality
To understand the causes of inequality one must first know what inequality is. Inequality is the extent
to which income is distributed unevenly in a group of people. It is the disproportionate ownership of
resources between different sections of the society. Inequality is typically thought of as differences
between individuals within a population, normally a country, though it can also be considered for
smaller or larger populations. Thus it is important to consider inequality between groups of people,
including global inequality between countries, inequality between regions or communities within a
country, and inequality between groups of individuals or households classified according to various
criteria (for example gender, class). Inequality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For unskilled workers, computers and machinery perform a lot of tasks these workers used to be do. In
many jobs, such as packaging and manufacturing, machinery works even more effectively and
efficiently. Hence, jobs involving repetitive tasks have largely been eliminated. Skilled workers are
not immune to the nightmare of losing jobs. The rapid development in artificial intelligence may
ultimately allow computers and robots to perform knowledge based jobs. The impact of increasing
unemployment is stagnant or decreasing wages for most workers, as there is a low demand for but
high supply of labour. A small portion of society, usually the owners of capital, controls an ever
increasing fraction of the economy. The income gap between workers who earn by their skills and
owners who earn by investing in capital has widened. Although both skilled and unskilled workers are
adversely affected by the technological advance, it seems unskilled workers are subject to worse
outcomes. This is because the labour market may still need skilled workers to use computers and
operate the advanced machines. The rightward shift in the demand for skilled labour creates an
increase in the relative wages of the skilled compared to the unskilled workers. Hence, the income gap
among workers also has

Airport Security After September 11, 2001
September 11, 2001 is a date that will never be forgotten by Americans. On the morning of September
11, nineteen terrorists hijacked four airlines and killed 2996 people. Prior to this horrible day, security
was not a priority in airports. Terrorist have made transportation a main point of attack because it
plays such an important role in our economy. After the terrorist attacks, the airline industry made great
improvements. It is important for airline security to have tight regulations to ensure safety to all
passengers.
Before September 11, it was nearly impossible to detect the threats of the passengers. These threats
often include guns, knives, bombs and pathogens. There were few regulations to passenger
background checks. Each security check was done by private companies as opposed to the
Transportation Security Administration. Passengers were not patted down and did not remove their
shoes. Passengers were not required to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was obvious that a single passenger can be just as dangerous as a bomb. Therefore, airport security
made major changes to reinforce the safety of this nation. President Bush provided twenty billion
dollars to upgrade airline security. On November 19, 2001 Congress made the Aviation and
Transportation Security Act (ATSA). The ATSA made the Transportation Security Administration
(TSA). TSA was made in order to improve the security of airlines. The new improvements employed
almost 65,000 new employees and made airline security a top priority. Five million prohibited items
have been confiscated by the TSA. These items include 2.3 million knives and 49,331 box cutters,
which were the terrorists weapons of choice on September 11 (Taylor). Today, passengers need to be
searched, as well as their luggage. Passengers are limited to one carry on bag and are required to show

A Treatise On Courtly Love Analysis
The ideas found in Andreas Capellanus A Treatise on Courtly Love have made their mark on the
human psyche since its inception. The treatise defines love as: an inborn suffering proceeding from the
sight and immoderate thought upon the beauty of the other sex, for which cause above all other things
one wishes to embrace the other and, by common assent, in this embrace to fulfill the commandments
of love... (pg. 1). By framing love as an obsessional and insufferable experience, Capellanus renders
those in the midst of worshiping a paramour from afar helpless until their lovesickness is
consummated. Because men and women are programmed to enjoy the act of making love, the text
attempts to contain and formalize love through a systematic explanation of the private and passionate
pursuit of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Francesca strategically utilizes the concept of love, as described by Capellanus, as her alibi. In her
eyes, she is absolved of blame; it was the literature which swept her into a world of love and passion
(this would be equivalent to blaming alcohol for one s actions the other night at the bar). Francesca s
subsequent telling of her placement in hell nonetheless evokes an interesting and varied interpretation.
Despite her sin, perhaps she is hinting at the fact that her brief love affair will in reality last a lifetime
since Paolo will always remain by her side in the second circle of The Inferno. Conversely, she may be
suggesting that her moment of fulfilled passion and desire was well worth the eternal consequence of
displacement and pain. At any rate, what remains true for Dante, and it is well represented in Inferno,
is that the greater one s will is to sin, the deeper into the hellish abyss they fall. While anoesis is the
least willful of sins, it is nevertheless a choice that caused the lustful to be damned for all

Explain Why the Hispanic Vote Is Becoming More Important...
Explain why the Hispanic vote is becoming more important in US elections (10 marks)
Hispanics are a growing group in the USA in terms of politics, this can be seen through demographics,
according to the 2000 census, they did form 12% of the population, but by the 2010 census this figure
has increased over 16% (51 million people) this was due to immigration and birth rates, therefore over
the years they have become more influential as they are now a larger proportion or the electorate.
Furthermore, because they are a young group and a significant proportion are not yet of voting age,
with one quarter of Hispanics being under 18, Their full political importance is yet to show as they
have not yet acquired the right to vote, which is one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This could be due to George D. Bush though, as in the 2000 he made a significant effort to pitch for
the Hispanic vote, with the help of him speaking fluent Spanish. However, in 2012 these figures went
down to 27%. With 71% of the Hispanic population supporting Obama and the Democratic beliefs
such as rights for ethnic minorities, welfare and supporters of the dream act allowing for
naturalisation. There was also evidence of the alienation of this group however, by Romney in 2012,
whose reference to self deportation and anti immigration views in the campaign is thought to have
affected his chances of winning in several states and for some future Republicans in their campaigns.
But, Hispanics did help push Republicans to victory in a few 2014 races, as when Cory Gardner
ousted Colorado Senator.
When looking at political campaigns in recent years there has been increasing evidence in the parties
campaigns for the support of this racial group as they are being targeted in the campaigns in a strategic
manner, by campaigning in Spanish or supporting citizenship, or heavy focus on Hispanic candidates
from the parties for examples the Republican focus was on candidates such as Marco Rubio and Ted
Cruz.
It is true that the Hispanic population, at 53 million, is still much smaller than the non Hispanic
population, at around 260 million. But it s also a population that represents a massive opportunity for
either party. In

Lacan And Foucault And The Gaze
The term the gaze has a general meaning that means to look at something with intent and with fixed
attention. Lacan, Fanon and Foucault all use the gaze in order to refer to various concepts. Lacan uses
the gaze in order to refer to in instance during the mirror stage in which the subject views itself in the
mirror image. The subject then enters an anxious state that comes from the awareness from knowing
that it can be viewed. Lacan argues further that the individual then loses a level of self sufficiency
upon realising that they can be viewed as a visible object (Felluga, 2015).
The gaze has been used within social psychology for the representation of gender and sexual identity
within the media. An example of this is seen when using the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The awareness of being seen is a consequence of an unlocalizable mechanism in which he feels
photographed in an undesirable manner. This is exactly what Lacan describes as the gaze. Lacan states
that the gaze is everywhere and at the same time, it is nowhere (Bleeker, 2008). The gaze manifests
itself further through its effects rather than through the source. Therefore, like Fanon, the gaze cannot
be located. A difference Between Fanon s gaze and Lacanian gaze is that Lacan s gaze places
emphasis on how an individual views them self therefore it is the gaze upon one s self, where Fanon s
white gaze emphasises how we are affected by other people s gazes, most crucially how the white
gaze is used in order to impose power over black people. Fanon s gaze is also based entirely on race
and how one race grouped is viewed under the gaze of another race group, which in turn affects their
identity and subjectivity, while Lacan s gaze is based on how you view yourself, for example your

Victoria Climbie Case Essay
Throughout this essay, the health, safety and welfare policy and practise that came about after the
Victoria Climbie case will be reviewed and evaluated. After arriving in England in November 1991
from the Ivory Coast, eight year old Victoria Climbie suffered abuse from her great aunt, Marie
Therese Kouao, and her great aunts partner. The anguish and eventual murder of Victoria in 2000 from
hypothermia, caused by malnourishment and damp conditions, provoked the most extensive
investigation into the child protection system in British history as described by Batty (Macleod
Brudenell, 2004). The high media profiled incident exposed a clear lack of precision and

The report made 108 sweeping recommendations (Laming, 2003) about modifications that were
needed in the child protection system as a response to the errors made by professionals who had
accountability for Victoria s care. These involved the creation of a children and families board, a
children s commissioner, new local authorities management boards and the creation of a national
children s database. The thrust of the report was to address the integration of children s services,
bringing the relevant sections of the professional sector together to improve co ordination and
communication as that would directly lead to effective collaboration. Following these proposals from
Lord Laming, there have been developments in legislation and policy, which involve children s
welfare, one of which was the Green Paper of Every Child Matters (ECM) (DfES, 2003), a pre
legislative document from the government of the day. This built upon existing plans to strengthen
preventative services using the four key themes of: support, early intervention, problems addressed in
the Victoria Climbie case and ensuring adults working with children are trained. The ECM Green
Paper was the basis of a consultation between professionals, parents, cares and children about how the
services for young people were working. Following from this, the government developed and
parliament passed the Children Act

Italian Immigration To America Essay
One of the primary reasons that led to the very different, and very much worse reception of Catholic
Italian immigrants in the United States when compared to other Catholic European immigrants, was
the attitude Italians held in regards to the country they lived in, the United States. Italian immigrants
felt alienated in their new country. They believed that conforming to American values too quickly was
a direct threat to their own beliefs (Specifically the domus). This was especially true in the Italian
Harlem. However, as Orsi states, the alienation was not a purely internal matter; it was also caused by
American xenophobia (Orsi 160). She goes on to say that this discriminating view held by Americans
led to Italians being stereotyped as the worker , meaning a threat to take the jobs of Americans born in
the United States. This led to almost everything of Italian significance being omitted in schools which
led to students getting a sense of Italian inferiority. Teachers and students went as ... Show more

importance of the domus that Italians brought to the United States, Covello made four principles of the

In the episode I chose to watch, Evan Smith did an interview with Bernie Sanders. This episode was
originally aired on April 16, 2015, so the topic of discussion was if Bernie Sanders would be running
for president and what were the issues he would focus on if so. Sanders made some very good points
when he talked about our economy and the top one percent. He stated that the Koch Brothers are the
second wealthiest family in America and they spend at least $900 million in campaigns so they
basically own the country. I think this is very scary because if they along with other billionaires are the
ones giving the money to campaigns then they are the only voices that are being heard. The Koch
brothers have become too powerful and they are trying to own the political system. Though many

Sanders becoming our next president. I say this not only because people don t vote, but because as
good as his issues sound, EVERYONE in America would have to contribute in order for the changes
he want to make actually take action. Sanders also talks about raising the minimum wage prices,
which I am aware President Obama has been trying to enforce. Whitehouse.gov states that seventeen
states and Washington D.C have passed laws to raise minimum wage, but Sanders want more states to

Contemplative Importance
The Importance of Contemplative Practices in an Academic Environment (pt. 1)
Contemplative practices can take several forms, including meditation, prayers, and certain physical
exercises such as yoga. Before taking Education in the USA, I had spent very little time participating
in these practices except for the occasional yoga session my former tennis coach would instruct me to
attend. However, these were cases of me superficially participating in that practice. Since participating
in our Wednesday discussions which include a 5 to 10 minute period of meditation, the what s
present/what are we experiencing? exercises, and occasionally, the placement of different objects and
words in the center of the room I have become increasingly aware of the importance of these practices
in relation to both the material we are covering in lectures as well as our individual beings. In my
opinion, the respective purposes of these different contemplative practices have been to cultivate a
sense of mental calmness while taking a break from our busy lives, identify the importance of fully
embracing the present moment, and expose us to different viewpoints and reactions regarding certain
topics, ultimately forcing us to think critically and respond constructively to them. The meditation
portion of our Wednesday discussions allows us to take a step away from the rigorous classwork and
constant worrying about due dates by instead focusing solely on our breathing. Since arriving at

Traders and The Silk Road
Throughout history roads and routes has been an important means of transportation to the world. In
today s society roads connect us to different cities, and used for shipping valuables. Human beings
constantly use these routes as a way to trade their product repeating what others have done throughout
history. The Silk Road was one of the main routes used for trading valuables and merchandise. The
road stretched from China and along the Mediterranean Sea being used by mankind for thousands of
years. This trade route revolutionized our understanding of the connections between different regions
of Asia. In return the valuables and goods enhance the importance of the Silk Road. Each type of
contact with every encounter has a connection from the various artworks. The Silk Road carried many
products; however, the most valuable product was Silk. Traders were confused about this mysterious
product because of the limited knowledge and the unknown producer. The culture behind this popular
product was the Chinese, who kept silk as a secret for thousands of years. According to legends Lady

who doesn t receive her rights and is not acknowledged in anyway. Which is all a misconception only
conceived by non muslims or people who might not have much knowledge in Islam. If they were to
look deeper they would be astonished to see a womans worth in Islam and all the rights given towards
women. And how women in Islamic history helped shape the religion. Some prominent Muslim
women throughout Islamic history and modern times are from the following: Khadija b. Khuwaylid ,

Pick two or three settings from The Great Gatsby and explain their significance to the novel. Settings
are given in every novel being important as it helps the reader understand the story better. The settings
in The Great Gatsby are specifically very significant as it superbly fits with the storyline. The story is
set in the early 1920s in New york because it focuses on the society of that time and is particularly
focused on the factors such as prohibition of alcohol, the glamour of new york and also the way that
Tom, Nick Gatsby and daisy all escape from the mid west, a small minded town, and become

They both use the city to hide their goings on from the people they value on Long Island. In the story,
there is a distinction between West Egg, where Long Island is located, and East Egg on the other side.
The people who live in West Egg are considered to be the recently developed wealthy individuals.
Moreover, separated by a long river, on the other side is East Egg where people made of generations
of wealth live. However, Fitzgerald tells us, in Nicks point of view, directly that East Egg is the
wealthier, more elite of the two. Despite all his money, Gatsby lives in West Egg, suggesting that he
has not been able to complete his transformation into a member of the social upper class society. Tom
and Daisy are apart of the East Egg society being an example of a typical couple living there being
overindulged. We learn that Daisy being a mother is not responsible or mature for her age. She
introduces her daughter to her friends for a few minutes and then claims momma wanted to show you
off. This shows that Daisy being an East sider has taken a lot for granted, she has a nurse to take care
of the daughter instead of being a mother herself. The distance that separates Gatsby from Daisy lies
across the span of water between their houses the very distance between West Egg and East Egg,
representing a barrier between the two lovers. Valley of ashes shows the less happier side of the

The Tokugawa Period In Japan
The Tokugawa period in Japan started in 1603 and ended in 1867 this was the final period of medieval
japan. Tokugawa Shogunate lasted for more than 250 years and Medieval Japan changed dramatically
from feudalism to a modernised society due to the Meiji restoration which also turned japan into a
world of power. The three main focuses which will be discussed in this Essay are political, social and
military which changed in the Meiji restoration. Education, social class, and women s roles changed
drastically when Japan began to modernize. Due to the government which played a huge role in the
social change of the Meiji restoration by creating many new laws. The biggest change during the Meiji
restoration was the schooling of the Japanese children as back in feudal Japan it was only the high
class and nobles that got to go school and now after the Meiji restoration it is everyone. (Asia for

When still in beta version, Google was answering 10000 queries per day and hence it caught fancy of
the media. Being declared the search engine of the year, Google started achieving milestones and is
still a huge success.
Google s mission is to organize the world s information and make it universally accessible and useful.
As a first step to fulfilling that mission, Google s founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin developed a
new approach to online search that took root in a Stanford University dorm room and quickly spread
to information seekers around the globe. Google is now widely recognized as the world s largest
search engine an easy to use free service that usually returns relevant results in a fraction of a second.
Google s utility and ease of use have made it one of the world s best known brands almost entirely
through word of mouth from satisfied users. As a business, Google generates revenue by providing
advertisers with the opportunity to deliver measurable, cost effective online advertising that is relevant
to the information displayed on any given page. This makes the advertising useful to you as well as to
the advertiser placing it.
Other than the search engine, Google also sports various other tools that are innovations of the
company. Other than the Google toolbar and the oogle desktop it also has tools like Google earth and

The Issue Of American Patriotism
Nationalism and patriotism is a very touchy subject for some people just due to the fact of everyone
having their own opinion on what it means. Some people just do not know the difference between the
two, or just don t know if there even is a difference. They are very often commonly confused as the
same thing and I can see why at first glance, but after searching this subject on many credible sources
I have come to find many clarifying and interesting facts on this particular topic.
First of all, the actual definition of American patriotism is the pride and devotion to one s homeland.
As everything does, there are pros and cons to being a patriot. For example, a pro would be that it
leads us to feel proud of and for our county. That ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unless your knowledge is of a universal type, equally useful and valued anywhere; then it makes no
difference where you live, as long as you enjoy your life. Another being specialization; patriotism
instinctively guides citizens to discover their natural and cultural specialties: their own resources,
traditions, industries, and identity that has existed for ages. They will not imitate or copy another
country blindly. Loving a place makes one automatically love, learn, cherish, and improve the special
qualities about it/them. A couple of the others are commitment and security. Most cons of patriotism
fall under the category of centralization being harmful. They claim that the benefits enjoyed by
centralized countries will eventually be shared by everyone worldwide. They say that it is not a big
problem to desert some countries as long as citizens are happy and successful elsewhere. They also
claim that in over populated countries, or those with high unemployment rates, its better when people
leave. I do not neccesarily agree with all of this but I do think the majority of the claims made are true.
Nationalism has two definitions that basically mean the same thing but one is more easily understood.
The more complicated version saying that

Cuartin Creating Art Analysis
As an artist, I exemplify innovation and continuous improvement because it is absolutely essential to
my work. Drawing materials are often pricy and I cannot afford to pay for such specialized items, so I
must form an alternate solution from what I have. My innovation can be seen when I create makeshift
graphite blenders from copy paper and pallet knives from plastic utensils. Moreover, I like to
experiment art with different mediums. I have drawn on cardboard with only white and black markers,
splashed charcoal sketches with water, formed giant feathered wings sculptures from paper scraps, and
even pieced together a sculpture out of battered metal eating utensils. By blending my imagination and
these unique materials I form innovative original works. Moreover, I continuously seek improvement
in myself as I draw and sketch. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, artistic talent does not come naturally. I have honed my skills over my entire life, gaining

of paint. When I create a piece of work, it can appear finished at first. However, when revising it later,
it seems unfinished and lacking in textures and details. If I add more paint layers to fix certain aspects,
it becomes a better piece as a whole. Even some subtle touches of paint can dramatically improve a
piece of art. My artistic talent has also developed like this. Just when I thought that I learned
everything I could about a certain area of art, I realize that I can always learn more; even little

Pierce In Abandon
In the world today, it s not uncommon for someone to make a choice and for that choice to come with
consequences. Many people will become faced with decisions that they will have to make almost
every day whether they are the right choice or not. When it comes to allowing oneself to be
vulnerable, sometimes this feeling means one person is innocent on the inside, and this will get in the
way of what is trying to be done. In the book Abandon, main character Pierce is met with decisions
that aren t hard to make, but seem to be the wrong thing to do.With her being naive as well, she also
fails to see whenever she is being taken advantage of and fails to realize that it s better to be mature
than to act innocent all of the time. Abandon portrays ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At her grandfather s funeral, she notices a dove limping a few yards away in the cemetery. Cause she
tries to help, The bird panicked and half flew, half leaped into the side of a nearby crypt, crashing
against the bricks. Then it just lay there. As I hurried to its side, I realized with horror that it was dead
(Cabot 18). The little helpless dove is symbolically Pierce in a way. In his book The Archetypes and
The Collective Unconscious, C.G. Jung talks about Archetypes, known as a recurrent symbol or motif,
he goes to say that The term archetype thus applies only indirectly to the representations collectives,
since it designates only those psychic contents which have not yet been submitted to conscious
elaboration and are therefore an immediate datum of psychic experience (5). He s saying that
whatever someone sees or notices, that object is going to be something that relates to that person and
what might happen to that person. Pierce seemed to be the only one seeing the hurt bird and the only
one reacting when the bird died, nothing in her brain said this would happen to her until it happened.
The dove is a symbol of Pierce. The animals that she is always helping are helpless, just like her
whenever she needs someone to help her. And because the animals always seem to get hurt or die
when she tries to rescue them, the same thing happens to her later on. She gets hurt, but then will later
on accidentally killing herself just to save an

Fashion s Influence On Fashion
When one thinks of a genre they think of a book or a type of music. Genre can be thought of as a
category of art. Fashion is a form of art, artists everyday are creating works that they feel people will
wear and like. Fashion is a huge industry with thousands of designers that makes billions of dollars
per year. Whether people realize it or not, every single person has a sense of style and has their own
taste in clothing. With fashion there are different genres ranging from chic to bohemian to sporty.
Along with different genres of fashion, there are different genres of brands. With these two genres
combined, an examination of the correlation of the brands with the style of fashion will be examined.
The first genre of fashion we are going to examine is a style called chic . Chic is a French word that
means classy. When the word chic crosses my mind, I picture a girl standing in the streets of New
York City dressed up from head to toe looking her finest. Most chic clothes cover the body of the
person wearing them and makes them look a bit classier than others. BB Dakota is a brand that is
considered chic, it is on the lower of the scale of prices of clothes. Most of their clothes have been
seen in top boutiques and in department stores. Celebrities such as Taylor Swift and others have been
seen wearing this brand. It was first founded 30 years ago in Southern California by a French designer.
She limits the buyers of her clothing because she wants them to be unique and

Methods Of Interviewing And Surveying
To achieve the research aim both methods of interviewing and surveying will be employed. To
complete the first objective doctors will be interviewed in order to assess how they justify using
therapeutic privilege and what influence their medical experience has. In terms of the second objective
previous patients will be surveyed on their opinions of not giving fully informed consent and what
effect they would expect to experience if the therapeutic privilege was used.
Investigative interviews
I propose to interview eight doctors to obtain their personal opinions on therapeutic privilege. In
addition to what arguments they feel they would employ to justify the use of such. This will be
dependant on doctors willingness to participate. Encouraging doctors to get involved will be difficult.
There may be a need for a gatekeeper. Before getting doctors involved, specific permission will be
required. In Scotland, any NHS research must be approved by the Research Scotland Permissions
Coordinating Centre. This body will also hopefully aid me in getting in contact with doctors.
Before conducting such interviews ethical clearance will be sought. In these interviews, I aim to
include doctors from both genders, with a range of ages and ranges of professional experience. This
will maintain fairness and show if there are any differences between justifications depending on their
previous medical experience. In the interests of time and cost saving these interviews will be
conducted

An Unforgettable Grandma
An Unforgettable Grandma Some people have grandparents, and others don t. I am so incredibly
blessed to have a grandma that is so caring in my life. Unfortunately, I don t get to see this loving
person very often. She lives in Canada alongside the rest of my family. When I lived in Michigan my
parents, brother, and I owned a trailer in Canada that we would go to all the time. In 2012, we moved
to Ohio, so we had to sell the trailer. My grandma comes to visit us around three times a year, and we
go down to see her on some holidays. I have grown to appreciate her more and more. I hear a lot of
people say they love their grandparents, so I ask them, Why? I get many responses like, They give me
the best Christmas presents! or They make really good food! My grandma does this, too, but there s so
much more than that. She teaches me how to speak with love, encourages me to put in effort, and
helps me realize that the little things matter.
I don t understand why he s being so mean to me. I hate him! Emma exclaimed. Emma is my cousin
who was once telling my grandma about a person she hates. I was sitting in the kitchen with them as
she told the story. As she went on, her voice got louder, and louder. She finally reached the pinnacle of
her voice, and just broke down. I remember thinking at this moment that if she were talking to me, I

Review Of How To Read Literature Like A Professor By...
In How to Read Literature Like a Professor John Foster describes methods on how to relate texts to

any other reoccurring literary devices commonly used in books. The___ Foster states in his book is
seen being used in Upton Sinclair s The Jungle.
In Foster s writing, he believes the emphasis should be on the character s personality being altered
throughout the story, No matter how large or small the action, the most important thing that characters
can do is change, develop, learn, mature, call it what you will. This change is seen in Jurgis, the father
in this Lithuanian immigrant family, after coming back from jail for assaulting his wife s boss, who
sexually assaulted her. Before serving time, Jurgis has the persona of a hard working immigrant with
the strong motivation to work as hard as he can to provide for his family. He never steals, participates
in any illegal activities and promises his wife he will work even harder when they have any financial

Interplay Of Conflict And Deception In Interpersonal...
Two parts of interpersonal communication go hand in hand are conflict and deception. One can lead to
the other and vice versa. Most people try to avoid both conflict and deception, but people must realize
that they have benefits and are a reality in everyday interactions. The interplay of conflict and
deception specifically harnessed my attention over the past few chapters. Interpersonal conflict is an
expressed struggle between two interdependent parties who perceive incompatible goals, scarce
resources, and interference from the other party in achieving their goals (Floyd, 2011, p. 350). To fully
understand conflict, the definition can be broken down further. As Kory Floyd (2011) describes,
conflict is an expressed struggle. A conflict is not fully present until one party s feelings are aware to
the other party. This can be done through both verbal and nonverbal behaviors. Conflict occurs
between interdependent parties as Floyd (2011) explains. A disagreement becomes a conflict if both
parties depend on each other in some way. For example, the relationship between a child and their
parents is a relationship that has high interdependence. If there is no dependence between the two
parties, Floyd (2011) does not consider it interpersonal conflict, which I personally found interesting.
The next part of the definition declares that conflict is about the goals the parties perceive see as
incompatible. Incompatible, means that both party s needs cannot be met. However, Floyd

  • 2. Multiple Choice 1. Which of the following statements about heat is false? A) If heat flows into a system, the extra energy of the system appears in the form of internal energy. B) A hot object possesses more heat than a cold object. C) If the system and surroundings are in thermal equilibrium, there is no heat flow between them. D) A process in which heat flows out of a system is said to be exothermic. E) Heat is a form of energy flow. B is false. If you compare a cup of water at 25oC and a bath tub of water at 20oC, the cup of water may be warmer, but there are many fewer atoms than the bathtub of water, so there can actually be more heat in a colder object, but it is spread out throughout many more atoms so the temperature can be lower. ... What is the frequency of a photon having an energy of 8.56 x 10 16 J? (c = 3.00 x 108 m/s, h= 6.63 x 10 34 J s) A) 3.88 x 1026 Hz B) 2.32 x 10 10 Hz C) 1.29 x 1018 Hz D) 2.58 x 10 27 Hz E) 2.57 x 10 7 Hz The answer is B. Energy = planks constant * wavenumber and wave number = speed of light divided by frequency so energy = planks * speed of light / frequency or E = h*(c/v) and we rearrange to solve for v so V = h * c / E = (6.63*10 34) * (3*108) / 8.56 * 10 16 = 2.32 x 10 10 s 1 also known as Hz 10. • 3. The New Hero of Aeneas Essay The New Hero of Aeneas Can myopia afflict an individual with so severe a malady to the extreme of proclaiming, If you take from Vergilius his diction and metre, what do you leave him ? Unless we take this statement as a neophyte joke, we may not be able to continue. The objective of this essay is to clean the bifocals of those whom I presumed after reading the Aeneid as a botched up replica of the Iliad and the Odyssey conclude that it is indeed so and go about perpetuating such calumny. Hence, to answer the obvious, if we strip Vergilius of his diction and metre, we leave him a new type of hero. Well, actually he leaves us a new type of hero, a hero that is foreign to the golden age of Homer. He presents a new ideal of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although he opens up with This is the tale of arms and of a man and suggests that his hero is another Achilles, or Odysseus, he has, before the end of the first paragraph, shown that he reaches beyond Aeneas to the long history that followed from him: and that was the origin of the Latin nation, the Lords of Alba, and the proud battlements of Rome (I, 6 7). Soon after wards, when he has noted the obstacles that the Trojans meet in their wanderings, he again ends a period in the similar note: Such was the cost in heavy toil of beginning the life of Rome (I, 33). Once again, when Venus complains that her son Aeneas is unjustly treated, Jupiter replies not only by promising that all will be well for Aeneas but by giving a prophetic sketch of Roman history to Julius Caesar. This reward, which the ancestor is to receive, is much more than his own success or glory, more even than his settlement in Italy. It is the assurance of the Roman destiny, of universal and unending dominion: To Romans I set no boundary in space or time. I have granted them dominion, and it has no end (I, 278 79). As we can see, at the outset Vergilius shows what kind of destiny is the subject of his poem. The wanderings, sufferings and ultimate success of Aeneas and his followers are but a preliminary and preparation for a greater theme. Secondly, there is different theme in Vergilius art. Prospects from around the country will be shutting down their recruitment processes, signing, and early enrolling to their program of choice. Dan Mullen was introduced as the 27th head coach in Florida Gators history just three weeks prior to the inaugural signing period. Despite seven de commitments from the Gators 2018 recruiting class since the arrival of Mullen, this staff have put themselves in a position to close out the early signing period with a profusion of momentum. The opportunity of playing time awaits Jones in Gainesville and many believe he will sign his letter of intent to the Gators on Wednesday. Prediction: Florida DB Trey Dean (Hampton, Ga.) Dean is another big time prospect that seems to be eyeing the Gators more than other programs. Dean de committed from the Tennessee Volunteers two weeks ago, and ever since, the Gators have made a pursuit at landing the nations 22nd ranked safety. Dean (6 foot 2, 180 pounds) is a long, athletic defensive back that possesses tremendous football IQ. His length at defensive back benefits him in jump ball situations, allowing him to make a play on the ball at its highest point. Following an official visit to the Gators this past weekend, I expect Florida to seal the deal with Dean. Florida also recently hired the Volunteers defensive back coach from a season ago (Dean s former coach he committed to), making the pitch to Dean much easier. Dean would be the fourth safety prospect to sign for the Gators on Wednesday. The staff made this unit a priority on the trail and it will pay off during the inaugural early signing ... • 5. The Big Apple Can Be Rough At Times Stand Strong Leila Growing up in the Big Apple can be rough at times; especially for 17 year old Leila Ashford. Leila s mom died when she was 10. She now lives in a tiny apartment with her father. Her father works in a big business and barely has time for Leila. When her mom was still alive, Leila was enrolled in a dance class; she was momma s little ballerina. Ballet was Leila s biggest dream. After her mom died, her dad got really upset and quit his job. Ever since, there hasn t been any extra money for Leila to reapply, but she didn t let that stop her. Everyday after school, Leila would go out onto the patio and dance until sunset. She was determined to be a professional dancer some day. Instead of being outgoing, like most of the students at her school, Leila was quiet and shy. She didn t have any friends because she devoted all her time to dancing. All of her teachers tried to persuade her to join different clubs, but none of them interested her. Finally a teacher confronted her and asked her what she liked to do. I like to dance. Leila replied. The teacher mentioned Leila s old dance studio and she ran away crying. That night she missed her dance studio more than ever. Senior Year When Leila went back to school for her final year of high school she saw that construction had been done over the summer. When she walked past the gym, she saw a door with a pair of plaster ballet shoes mounted above it. A familiar smile crossed her face. She might be able to go back ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Millions of fake accounts engulf us while feeding us untrustworthy texts without even knowing. These fake accounts have the most privileges when the secret of who the really are is never released. Having anonymity on social media gives users some sort of safety cape to be able to possibly say whatever they feel. Some may use it for stating what they feel freely while other abuse the ability by using it against others. If viewers do not know who is behind the accounts, they cannot make any logical judgments simply due to lack of information about the profile. Because of the leeway anons have online, their behavior is lead to be less restricted and more unbounded. Imagine being online under a fake name (or no name at all) and freely stating your thoughts on the recent presidential campaign. The anonymous cape you gain from having a hidden profile allows users to be more confident in their opinions their posting (Palme 3). Sure, it could upset viewers or even be relatable on the other side, but no one would know that you were the one behind that statement. It is almost as if what is being said anonymously is protected, so it does not matter what you say! Being able to go online anonymously has its positives and negatives. Users hiding behind these anonymous accounts seem to have a boost of confidence online when they know that their identity is unknown. On the other hand, bad anonymity has become somewhat famous on social media. Bullying, and so called catfishing both assist bad anonymity into getting its name categorized into untrustworthiness. Ray Kroc Research Paper In America: A Concise History, chapter twenty six is titled The Modern State and the Age of Liberalism, 1945 1980 and discusses topics such as the Baby Boom, the GI Bill and many other topics. One topic that peaked my interest was the subsection about fast food and shopping malls; specifically, fast food. In researching fast food, I came across quite a few facts that I was completely unaware of. Facts such as when fast food first was introduced to the world, what the first fast food restaurant was in the United States, different forms of the fast food industry through time, and the fast food industry boom. It turns out that the fast food industry s history didn t begin with a building with a window that cars pulled up to. During this scene, the mother offers to pay him to drive her into the woods and look for her daughter. He replied, I wouldn t charge anybody anything to search for a child s body. But she s not in the woods. Nothing could have stayed hidden, the way these woods were searched (165). By offering to help the child s mother the paperhanger gains the mother s trust. To the reader, he appears to be helping the mother during a time of need, making him a decent friend. The paperhanger manipulated the situation, to get the girl s mother to trust him and consequently leave with him. He knew the child would not be found, not because the woods were extensively searched, but because he remains. The paperhanger was supposed to drive the child s mother to the woods, but instead drives her to a cemetery. After noticing that some of the graves had been dismantled and robbed, she tells the paperhanger. He responded by saying, You can t rob the dead. They have nothing left to steal (167). The woman was shocked by his response and then asked him if he had robbed the graves. He responded by saying, The line between grave robbing and archeology has always looked a little blurry to me. Inequality is the extent to which income is distributed unevenly in a group of people. It is the disproportionate ownership of resources between different sections of the society. Inequality is typically thought of as differences between individuals within a population, normally a country, though it can also be considered for smaller or larger populations. Thus it is important to consider inequality between groups of people, including global inequality between countries, inequality between regions or communities within a country, and inequality between groups of individuals or households classified according to various criteria (for example gender, class). In many jobs, such as packaging and manufacturing, machinery works even more effectively and efficiently. Hence, jobs involving repetitive tasks have largely been eliminated. Skilled workers are not immune to the nightmare of losing jobs. The rapid development in artificial intelligence may ultimately allow computers and robots to perform knowledge based jobs. The impact of increasing unemployment is stagnant or decreasing wages for most workers, as there is a low demand for but high supply of labour. A small portion of society, usually the owners of capital, controls an ever increasing fraction of the economy. The income gap between workers who earn by their skills and owners who earn by investing in capital has widened. Although both skilled and unskilled workers are adversely affected by the technological advance, it seems unskilled workers are subject to worse outcomes. This is because the labour market may still need skilled workers to use computers and operate the advanced machines. The rightward shift in the demand for skilled labour creates an increase in the relative wages of the skilled compared to the unskilled workers. Hence, the income gap among workers also has ... On the morning of September 11, nineteen terrorists hijacked four airlines and killed 2996 people. Prior to this horrible day, security was not a priority in airports. Terrorist have made transportation a main point of attack because it plays such an important role in our economy. After the terrorist attacks, the airline industry made great improvements. It is important for airline security to have tight regulations to ensure safety to all passengers. Before September 11, it was nearly impossible to detect the threats of the passengers. • 11. A Treatise On Courtly Love Analysis The ideas found in Andreas Capellanus A Treatise on Courtly Love have made their mark on the human psyche since its inception. The treatise defines love as: an inborn suffering proceeding from the sight and immoderate thought upon the beauty of the other sex, for which cause above all other things one wishes to embrace the other and, by common assent, in this embrace to fulfill the commandments of love... (pg. 1). By framing love as an obsessional and insufferable experience, Capellanus renders those in the midst of worshiping a paramour from afar helpless until their lovesickness is consummated. Because men and women are programmed to enjoy the act of making love, the text attempts to contain and formalize love through a systematic explanation of the private and passionate pursuit of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Francesca strategically utilizes the concept of love, as described by Capellanus, as her alibi. In her eyes, she is absolved of blame; it was the literature which swept her into a world of love and passion (this would be equivalent to blaming alcohol for one s actions the other night at the bar). Francesca s subsequent telling of her placement in hell nonetheless evokes an interesting and varied interpretation. Despite her sin, perhaps she is hinting at the fact that her brief love affair will in reality last a lifetime since Paolo will always remain by her side in the second circle of The Inferno. Conversely, she may be suggesting that her moment of fulfilled passion and desire was well worth the eternal consequence of displacement and pain. At any rate, what remains true for Dante, and it is well represented in Inferno, is that the greater one s will is to sin, the deeper into the hellish abyss they fall. Explain why the Hispanic vote is becoming more important in US elections (10 marks) Hispanics are a growing group in the USA in terms of politics, this can be seen through demographics, according to the 2000 census, they did form 12% of the population, but by the 2010 census this figure has increased over 16% (51 million people) this was due to immigration and birth rates, therefore over the years they have become more influential as they are now a larger proportion or the electorate. Bush though, as in the 2000 he made a significant effort to pitch for the Hispanic vote, with the help of him speaking fluent Spanish. However, in 2012 these figures went down to 27%. With 71% of the Hispanic population supporting Obama and the Democratic beliefs such as rights for ethnic minorities, welfare and supporters of the dream act allowing for naturalisation. There was also evidence of the alienation of this group however, by Romney in 2012, whose reference to self deportation and anti immigration views in the campaign is thought to have affected his chances of winning in several states and for some future Republicans in their campaigns. But, Hispanics did help push Republicans to victory in a few 2014 races, as when Cory Gardner ousted Colorado Senator. When looking at political campaigns in recent years there has been increasing evidence in the parties campaigns for the support of this racial group as they are being targeted in the campaigns in a strategic manner, by campaigning in Spanish or supporting citizenship, or heavy focus on Hispanic candidates from the parties for examples the Republican focus was on candidates such as Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz. • 13. Lacan And Foucault And The Gaze The term the gaze has a general meaning that means to look at something with intent and with fixed attention. Lacan, Fanon and Foucault all use the gaze in order to refer to various concepts. Lacan uses the gaze in order to refer to in instance during the mirror stage in which the subject views itself in the mirror image. The subject then enters an anxious state that comes from the awareness from knowing that it can be viewed. Lacan argues further that the individual then loses a level of self sufficiency upon realising that they can be viewed as a visible object (Felluga, 2015). The gaze manifests itself further through its effects rather than through the source. Therefore, like Fanon, the gaze cannot be located. A difference Between Fanon s gaze and Lacanian gaze is that Lacan s gaze places emphasis on how an individual views them self therefore it is the gaze upon one s self, where Fanon s white gaze emphasises how we are affected by other people s gazes, most crucially how the white gaze is used in order to impose power over black people. The anguish and eventual murder of Victoria in 2000 from hypothermia, caused by malnourishment and damp conditions, provoked the most extensive investigation into the child protection system in British history as described by Batty (Macleod Brudenell, 2004). The high media profiled incident exposed a clear lack of precision and communication between all professionals and agencies involved. This is shown by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The report made 108 sweeping recommendations (Laming, 2003) about modifications that were needed in the child protection system as a response to the errors made by professionals who had accountability for Victoria s care. These involved the creation of a children and families board, a children s commissioner, new local authorities management boards and the creation of a national children s database. The thrust of the report was to address the integration of children s services, bringing the relevant sections of the professional sector together to improve co ordination and communication as that would directly lead to effective collaboration. Following these proposals from Lord Laming, there have been developments in legislation and policy, which involve children s welfare, one of which was the Green Paper of Every Child Matters (ECM) (DfES, 2003), a pre legislative document from the government of the day. This built upon existing plans to strengthen preventative services using the four key themes of: support, early intervention, problems addressed in the Victoria Climbie case and ensuring adults working with children are trained. The ECM Green Paper was the basis of a consultation between professionals, parents, cares and children about how the services for young people were working. Following from this, the government developed and parliament passed the Children Act ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Italian Immigration To America Essay One of the primary reasons that led to the very different, and very much worse reception of Catholic Italian immigrants in the United States when compared to other Catholic European immigrants, was the attitude Italians held in regards to the country they lived in, the United States. Italian immigrants felt alienated in their new country. They believed that conforming to American values too quickly was a direct threat to their own beliefs (Specifically the domus). This was especially true in the Italian Harlem. However, as Orsi states, the alienation was not a purely internal matter; it was also caused by American xenophobia (Orsi 160). She goes on to say that this discriminating view held by Americans led to Italians being stereotyped as the worker , meaning a threat to take the jobs of Americans born in the United States. This led to almost everything of Italian significance being omitted in schools which led to students getting a sense of Italian inferiority. Teachers and students went as ... The term they used to describe this family centered way of life was Domus, or culture of the home. It was for this reason that the home was very important to the Italians. To highlight the importance of the domus that Italians brought to the United States, Covello made four principles of the domus, the points are; 10. One should stand by blood relatives in any situation whether they be right or wrong. 15. Married couples should never sever their relations with their parents. 17. Children should respect the friends and relatives to their parents and in their behavior conform to the opinions of these friends and relatives. 21. This episode was originally aired on April 16, 2015, so the topic of discussion was if Bernie Sanders would be running for president and what were the issues he would focus on if so. Sanders made some very good points when he talked about our economy and the top one percent. He stated that the Koch Brothers are the second wealthiest family in America and they spend at least $900 million in campaigns so they basically own the country. I think this is very scary because if they along with other billionaires are the ones giving the money to campaigns then they are the only voices that are being heard. The Koch brothers have become too powerful and they are trying to own the political system. Though many people, especially the younger generation, likes Sanders views and what he has ... First off, our top one percent would have to become less important than they are now and the middle and lower class people would have to become the main focus. People would have to get out and vote and considering no one really has time for it other than the top one percent, I do not see Bernie Sanders becoming our next president. I say this not only because people don t vote, but because as good as his issues sound, EVERYONE in America would have to contribute in order for the changes he want to make actually take action. Sanders also talks about raising the minimum wage prices, which I am aware President Obama has been trying to enforce. Whitehouse.gov states that seventeen states and Washington D.C have passed laws to raise minimum wage, but Sanders want more states to join and go a little bit higher. To me this seems like a problem because, considering how our economy is, more people would be out of jobs even though higher wages would help those with a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Contemplative Importance The Importance of Contemplative Practices in an Academic Environment (pt. 1) Contemplative practices can take several forms, including meditation, prayers, and certain physical exercises such as yoga. Before taking Education in the USA, I had spent very little time participating in these practices except for the occasional yoga session my former tennis coach would instruct me to attend. However, these were cases of me superficially participating in that practice. Since participating in our Wednesday discussions which include a 5 to 10 minute period of meditation, the what s present/what are we experiencing? exercises, and occasionally, the placement of different objects and words in the center of the room I have become increasingly aware of the importance of these practices in relation to both the material we are covering in lectures as well as our individual beings. In my opinion, the respective purposes of these different contemplative practices have been to cultivate a sense of mental calmness while taking a break from our busy lives, identify the importance of fully embracing the present moment, and expose us to different viewpoints and reactions regarding certain topics, ultimately forcing us to think critically and respond constructively to them. The meditation portion of our Wednesday discussions allows us to take a step away from the rigorous classwork and constant worrying about due dates by instead focusing solely on our breathing. The___ Foster states in his book is seen being used in Upton Sinclair s The Jungle. In Foster s writing, he believes the emphasis should be on the character s personality being altered throughout the story, No matter how large or small the action, the most important thing that characters can do is change, develop, learn, mature, call it what you will. This change is seen in Jurgis, the father in this Lithuanian immigrant family, after coming back from jail for assaulting his wife s boss, who sexually assaulted her. Before serving time, Jurgis has the persona of a hard working immigrant with the strong motivation to work as hard as he can to provide for his family. He never steals, participates in any illegal activities and promises his wife he will work even harder when they have any financial stress. Once out of jail, his wife and first child die in succession. The circumstance he s put in, spirals his life out of control, leading him to squander his measly earnings to drink heavily, abandon his family, and turn to corruption and crime as a ... Minimization of Casting Defects  There are 9 experiments conducted using Taguchi s DOE by changing the selected variables and different results, from very bad to good, were shown up. The shrinkage defect was precluded starting the first experiment since it can usually be corrected by proper design of the gating systems .  In fact, much more experiments were needed to determine the clear causes of gas defects as such causes are so many in number. Any ways, if the matrix of the variables that produce good result can be applied by ABMI, there will obviously be a substantial saving in the cost of production.  Gas defects have a number of different causes which are sometimes unique to a certain environment and working conditions.  Increasing the number of parameters and variables would give more accurate results and enables to know the effect of any individual variable on the defect scenario but, it costs is high. From among a lot of known porosity causing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Interplay Of Conflict And Deception In Interpersonal... Two parts of interpersonal communication go hand in hand are conflict and deception. One can lead to the other and vice versa. Most people try to avoid both conflict and deception, but people must realize that they have benefits and are a reality in everyday interactions. The interplay of conflict and deception specifically harnessed my attention over the past few chapters. Interpersonal conflict is an expressed struggle between two interdependent parties who perceive incompatible goals, scarce resources, and interference from the other party in achieving their goals (Floyd, 2011, p. 350). To fully understand conflict, the definition can be broken down further. As Kory Floyd (2011) describes, conflict is an expressed struggle. A conflict is not fully present until one party s feelings are aware to the other party. This can be done through both verbal and nonverbal behaviors. Conflict occurs between interdependent parties as Floyd (2011) explains. A disagreement becomes a conflict if both parties depend on each other in some way. For example, the relationship between a child and their parents is a relationship that has high interdependence. If there is no dependence between the two parties, Floyd (2011) does not consider it interpersonal conflict, which I personally found interesting. The next part of the definition declares that conflict is about the goals the parties perceive see as incompatible. Incompatible, means that both party s needs cannot be met. However, Floyd ...
