Cultivation of root crops is practiced by the central part of Nigeria, while cultivation of cereal crops
are practiced in Northern savannah region (Gordon, 2003).
Furthermore, Nigeria, at first, was involved in the slave trade for mutual beneficial interaction. But as
time went by, the mutual beneficial interaction changed to one sided trade; it only benefited the
several societies with wealth and power, but destroyed the other groups of society. But later in 1800s,
the slave trade was abolished (Gordon 2003). According to Graham, in 1884 British colonized Nigeria
officially at the Berlin Conference. British used force and violence to control Nigeria. Although there
were riots by Nigerians, all of them were suppressed (Graham 2009). Meanwhile, British practiced in
indirect rule of Nigeria; British colonization changed many aspects of Nigeria including language,
education, religion, economy, transportation, and etc. So this Legacy paper will discuss about the

Nigeria has two major religions, which are Islam and Christianity. Fifty percent of populations believe

Grounded theory Is a qualitative approach which calls for simultaneous data collection and analysis to
generate a theory during the research process. A theory emerges inductively through the systematic
data collection and analysis pertaining to a given phenomenon (Strauss Corbin, 1990). This has two
fundamental characteristics which include: theoretical sampling and constant comparative analysis. A
grounded theory is generated by themes which emerge from the data during analysis, capturing the
essence of meaning drawn from varied contexts and situations
Theoretical sampling, this involves data collection for comparative analysis (Glaser Strauss 1967).
The collected data then gives insights and the analysis leads to further data collection and analysis.

Both approaches are based on naturalistic inquiry. They focus on how people behave in natural
settings while engaging in real life experiences. Both maintain inquiry stems from the naturalistic
paradigm that places itself opposite positivist paradigm.
Both approaches support flexibility in using multiple sources of data. This allows checking the
reliability and validation of a given phenomenon under investigation through triangulation. For
example use of interviews, document review and observation.
Both methods seek themes through coding process. The main of these two approaches is to capture

Family relationships are an important part of humanity. Many children grow up with or without a
family thus resulting the way they behave. Having a good relationship with your family is the key to a
healthy living. We need to trust one another and learn to gain respect for a happy future. This is an
important part of the process to a healthy relationship because it plays a crucial role in instilling values
and teaching responsibilities.For example if there are parents who fought a lot, the child would be
insecure towards other people. Another, point is that it helps solve misunderstandings in the family,
thus creating a stable unity.
Back to text, family relationships was the main theme in the four texts that I have read/watched:
Secrets and Lies, The Castle, Good Will Hunting and Not without my Daughter. This has influenced a
number of authors and directors to direct to create films that relate to a certain topic of family. This is
because it focuses on the family itself, which can have an impact on the audience who may be
experiencing this kind of problem in the text. This is shown in the four texts that I have studied:
Secrets and Lies, The Castle, Good Will Hunting and Not Without my Daughter. These texts were
influenced by family problems and secrets within our daily lives.
In the film, The Castle we are able to see what a good family relationship is. Daryl Kerrigan is trying
to fight to save his home, which he calls his Castle even though the house is not in good
