It Feels Miserable Without You…Almost Like Having You Here
Satire. A trend of the ancient times, following America like a lost a puppy. But where did it come
from? Why did it get started? To answer these questions take a look at satirical historians. They
believe the starting point of satire most likely goes back to many ancient ethnic groups who used it in
rituals. The people believed that their words were just as powerful as their swords, making satire a
thing to be feared. In fact, satire was so extremely feared among the ethnic groups and the people that
if someone was found using it, they would be put to death by fire (Roman). Among those who have
strong influences, Jonathan Swift wrote a wonderful explanation of satire in his preface to The Battle
of the Books. He describes satire as a type ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Swift s use of a parody that the Irish should eat their babies is imitating the intelligence level of some
people who think their ideas are so marvelous, when it is really a terrible suggestion (Swift). Another
parody is found in A Modest Proposal as Swift explains his final statement. He claims . . . [I] have
nothing to gain economically from this proposal . . . This is a parody because it imitates the usual
objections of people who claim to be unselfish in their proposals (Swift). A reversal is a major
technique used in the film Tangled. As Princess Rapunzel uses her unnaturally long hair to bring up
her pretend mother from the tower, it is incredible how far the beautiful golden hair can reach.
However, the fact that Rapunzel has to take care of her mother is simply not natural. Although every
mom wants to feel beautiful and accepted by society, her main concern should be making sure her
daughter feels beautiful and accepted. Many people have the capabilities to stun the rest of the world,
but it is just not a natural thing for a teenage daughter to be taking care of her mother and making her
feel young and wanted. This, above all, is truly daffy and out of proportion.
The picture to the left is a very strong form of satire. There are a few types of satire it could fall under,
but it is typically that of a parody. While most people have

The Effects Of Global Warming On Our Environment
Global warming is already having significant and harmful effects on our communities, our health, and
our climate. Sea level rise is accelerating. The number of large wildfires is growing. Dangerous heat
waves are becoming more common. Extreme storm events are increasing in many areas. More severe
droughts are occurring in others We must take immediate action to address global warming or these
consequences will continue to intensify, grow ever more costly, and increasingly affect the entire
planet including you, your community, and your family. The good news is that we have the practical
solutions at hand to dramatically reduce our carbon emissions, slow the pace of global warming, and
pass on a healthier, safer world to future generations.Global warming is happening now. The planet s
temperature is rising. The trend is clear and unmistakable. Every one of the past 38 years has been
warmer than the 20th century average. The 12 warmest years on record have all occurred since 1998.
The hottest year ever recorded for the contiguous United States occurred in 2012. Globally, the
average surface temperature has increased The scientific evidence is clear. Within the scientific
community, there is no debate. An overwhelming majority of climate scientists agree that global
warming is happening and that human activity is the primary cause.

Queen Victoria s Influential Reign Over the British Empire...
Queen Victoria is connected with Britain s economic progress, great age of industrial expansion, and
particularly, empire. Right at the moment of her death it was believed, Britain had a worldwide empire
on which the sun never set (Hibbert 3). Queen Victoria established the nature of the British Empire for
future monarchs by reigning through sequences of commanding prime ministers who acquired
political control of Britain. Queen Victoria was born on May 24 1819 in London (Williams 24). The
morning of June 20th, 1837 the king before Queen Victoria had seen his last couple of days and
Princess Victoria had become Queen Victoria. She had to quickly learn the ways and customs of being

Britain had been taking on the switch to a constitutional monarchy in which the ruler is set with firm
authorities and projected to continue above any politics party s. In 1857, after the Indian Mutiny,
control was transitioned from East India Company to that of the crowns. In 1861, the death of her

During 1877, Queen Victoria had become the monarch of all India, Canada, Austria, New Zealand,

Quetzalcoatl s Influence On The Aztecs
We all have our own ideas, religion and a way to see the world and its creation. There are many
different civilizations around the world. and each of these have their out myths and legends about how
was the world created. According to Cartwright, the Aztecs also known as the Mexicans were one of
the most powerful empires which were located in Mexico City before called Tenochtitlan, but covered
most of northern Mesoamerica during 1345 and 1521(Cartwright, Aztec). Kay and Gonzales also
mention that the Aztecs settle their empire on Tenochtitlan because their god Huitzilopochtli sent an
eagle sitting on a cactus to indicate where they should build their new home, which end being in the
center of Mexico and they ended calling it Tenochtitlan. In addition to this, they also mention that

Quetzalcoatl sacrifices himself and became the second sun, also known as 4 wind sun. Quetzalcoatl
was also known as the Plumed Serpent , he was a god for different cultures as the Maya, Toltecs, and
the Aztecs, he was a god related to the wind god; therefore, he was known as the 4 wind sun (Maestri,
Quetzalcoatl). Kay and Gonzales stated that Quetzalcoatl was one important god for all cultures,
because of his two personalities; he was extremely active god while creating and destroying the
universe, that made him have a creative side, and his second personality was his way of governing, he
was as a cultural hero (Read and Gonzales 223). Now with the second sun, humans were able to only
eat piñon nuts. But after some time, the world suffers of many catastrophic disasters as hurricanes,
earthquakes, and other natural disasters, ending this world in chaos. The only survivors in this world
were transformed into monkeys, and as the first case, this world only survives for 665 years (Maestri,

Id Ego Superego In A Long Way Gone
The Id, Ego and Super Ego of Ishmael Beah
In his story A Long Way Gone Ishmael Beah struggles to balance his id, ego and superego during his
time of recovery at UNICEF s rehabilitation center. The id, ego, and superego are terms that Sigmund
Freud introduced to explain differences in the unconscious mind. The id is of the unconscious the part
of our minds in which our drives towards pleasures and bodily needs, such as self preservation,
aggression, and sexual urges are found this unconscious part is the primary of the unconscious this is
is also primitive. I like to think when eating a cake my id will want the whole thing accepting the

Right Ventricular Analysis
Right ventricular fractional area change (RVFAC) is the percentage change in RV area between end
diastole and end systole. It is obtained from a four chamber view where the RV end diastolic
(RVEDA) and end systolic areas (RVESA) are measured, and the RVFAC is calculated as follows:
RVFAC (%) = (RVEDA RVESA)/RVEDA (Figure 6B). It has a good correlation with MRI derived
RVEF and was shown to have prognostic significance in patients with myocardial infarction and
pulmonary hypertension (Anavekar et al., 2008). Figure (6): Methods of determining indices of right

The ejection time can be determined from the parasternal short axis view at the pulmonary valve,
while isovolumic intervals are derived based on the tricuspid flow. It was shown to correlate with
radionuclide derived right ventricle ejection fraction (RVEF) (Karnati et al., 2008). Normal values for
MPI are 0.28+0.04, and it usually rises in diseases associated with RV dysfunction (Tei et al., 1996).
Another parameter of contractility is RV dP/dt which is measured using the velocity profile of the
tricuspid regurgitant jet using continuous wave Doppler of the tricuspid regurgitation (TR) jet; dP/dT
is the time interval for the TR velocity to rise from 1 to 2 m/s. Although relatively easy to measure,
RV dP/dT can be dependent on loading conditions and may be less accurate in the setting of severe
TR. Because of lack of normative data, this measure is not recommended for routine use and should
only be used in patients who have suspected RV dysfunction (Rudski et al.,

The Effects Of Wildfire Smoking In California
More than a dozen wildfires in California have destroyed at least 1,500 homes in the past few days.
According to this article, wildfires send smoke, soot, toxic gases and tiny particles into the air, which
can be carried for tens or even hundreds of miles, and have been linked to respiratory and heart
problems. Air pollution too my knowledge would be a big problem in California. Some of the most
obvious health effects of wildfire smoke are itchy eyes, a burning or runny nose and coughing and the
more time you spend outside when it s smoky, the worse these symptoms are likely to get in my
opinion. In addition, treated wood in a house s frame, for instance, put there to prevent bacteria

Children s Child Entitlement, Dependency...
Many parents always want a better life for their children than what they had. They always try to keep
them as happy as can be and make sure the children have everything that they need and want. Most
parents want to keep their children happy, and associating them with toys and the things that they want
equates to happiness. Some children may deserve some of what is given to them, but other children
may be given everything that they want. Busy parents, or parents who are not home a lot, feel that
since they do not spend the time with their children that they must shower them in gifts. While
although those things may be nice, the parents are potentially hurting their children in the long run.
Spoiling children can lead to child entitlement, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This type of behavior leads to the idea of entitlement with children and teenagers. They already have it
in their heads that they need this or want that, but as soon as the parents give in, they know that they
can get away with it. Amy McCready, who partners with Kids R Kids for the expert parenting advice
series states that, the two biggest culprits for the entitlement epidemic are over indulging and
pampering. The child or teen gets what they want and have no gratitude or appreciation towards their
parents. At a young age, children automatically depend on their parents. When they are babies and
toddlers, they cannot do the things to maintain themselves. When a child or teen is spoiled, they rely
on their parents to help them out whenever they are in need. There are cases in which the parent loves
the idea that the child needs them, and doesn t give the child any type of responsibility. They do
everything that the child asks or wants them to do just to keep them happy. This can lead to
unmotivated children, since they know that their parents will do it themselves. Parents give their
children a little money here and there, so now they believe that they do not need to work for it. In
depend people, they cannot do anything on their own; they always require someone else to be there.
Researchers Connie Dawson and David J. Bredehoft cite a study showing that young college students
who were spoiled as children, tended to believe that being alone makes

Essay On The Great Chicago Fire
The Great Chicago Fire was one of the significant devastation that happened in the eighteenth century.
Through this tragic event, hundreds of people died and thousands of buildings were completely
destroyed in the fire. Before, the city was flourishing as more people traveled and decided to call
Chicago their home. After the fire destroyed most of the surrounding area, people began blaming one
another for the deaths of all the people. As time passed, Chicago slowly began to rebuild like never
before. Although the city of Chicago continued to grow before the fire, after, the city boomed with the
abundance of money and people. Moreover, because there was destruction, the people of Chicago,
Illinois did not allow a fire to stop them from creating more opportunities for the future. The city has
changed from the fire, but because of the help that was received, it was able to get rebuilt, and invite
new individuals to explore the wondrous city of Chicago. Before the fire destroyed over half of the
area, Chicago was overflowing with history on how this area became a city. In addition, the first

When identifying what a meme is, one should consider the fact that a meme is not just a circulating
picture of a cat deemed grumpy. A meme is much more complex in the sense that exist as many
different entities ranging from new concepts to new slang words, to even a development of a new
behavior that has become popular within a culture. Richard Dawkins, author of the book The Selfish

[1] Various religions around the world use meditation as a time to clear the mind and focus on a higher

The purpose of meditation is to simply find yourself or whatever it is you seek to accomplish.
Meditation is very difficult for some to practice, especially for those who are new to meditating. Most
beginners believe that if they are unable to completely clear their mind while meditating, they have
failed the purpose of the exercise, which is not the case. The mind is a powerful muscle, but like every
muscle it must train to become stronger and independent. For example, if an individual s goal is to run

characteristic that unites both goals is training, simply training. If meditation is not regularly practiced,
your mindset will never reach it s full potential. Thich Nhat Hanh, a Vietnamese Buddhist monk

Analysis of Out, Out by Robert Frost Essay
Analysis of Out, Out by Robert Frost
Robert Frost tells a disturbing story in Out, Out, , in which a little boy loses his life. The title of the
poem leaves the reader to substitute the last word of the title, which some would assume would be out
because of the repetition. The title is referring to the boy exiting the living world. Frost drags the
reader s mind into the poem with the imagistic description of the tools and atmosphere the little boy is
surrounded by.
Frost describes the little boy s work in the first two lines by saying the stove length sticks of wood,
inferring the practical nature of his work. The mountains described in the next lines further add to the
captive nature of the poem. Vermont provides a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sister prepares the evening meal, making her contribution to the family; and calls on the boy to
come and eat. The saw in the boy?s hands was still running and when he took his attention away from
his work, and that split second of carelessness cost him an extremity. His instincts raised his arm
upward to keep all the blood from spilling out immediately. When he realized what was happening,
the boy finally realized he was to young to be doing a man?s work. The boy ?saw all spoiled,? and
now knew his whole childhood had vanished and it was impossible to get it back. The boy frantically
called out to his sister to make the doctor keep his hand on. The boy?s body must have instantly gone
into shock and not felt the absence of the hand. When the doctor arrived he gave him some ether to
make him go to sleep. The little boy began to lose his pulse and soon he was a stranger to the world.
The people surrounding the boy never expected the loss of his hand to tragically end the little boy?s
life. Frost?s almost appalling casual description of death shocks the reader enough to make them
think. ?Since they were not the one dead, turned to their affairs,? describes the environment of the
survivors. They are forced to move on with their life and keep working because they cannot afford to
stop and mourn.
The poem ?Out, Out, ? can only be described as an ironic misfortune that could be experienced by
anyone. The realistic subject

The South African State Of The Zulu
Writing Assignment 3 Origin of States For this paper, I decided to focus on the South African State of
the Zulu and how it emerged into a state from a small tribe during the Early 1800 s. Shaka Zulu, The
leader of the Zulu and the face of the Zulu as a nation when they came to power, was known to be a
very fierce fighter and strong leader. Born around approximately 1787 as an illegitimate half son to the
current leader of the Zulu, he was exiled from the state and worked his way up as the equivalent of an
officer in an opposing states military. Once Shaka s father died, he used his military expertise along
with the help of his current tribe s leader to take control of the Zulu tribe for himself, since he did have
the blood line of their previous leader. Shaka almost single handedly grew the Zulu from a small south
African Tribe into a state of over 100,000 people with almost half of the total population being in the
active military. Through militaristic and expansionist values, Shaka quickly grew the Zulu from a
small tribe into a large warring state which raided many other South African Tribes for their resources
and wealth, and Shaka also absorbed them into the Zulu tribe whenever possible in order to increase
his power and area of control. Shaka Zulu is widely known as one of Africa s fiercest warriors in
history, and he is famous for how he alone is responsible for the Zulu s rise to power in South Africa. I

Sleep And Memory
How is Sleep related to Memory
According to the American Sleep Association, Insomnia is the most common specific sleep disorder,
with short term issues reported by about 30% of adults and chronic insomnia by 10%. ( American
Sleep Association, 2018, P.1) Scientists have proven that sleep is directly related to memory. Sleep has
effects on insomnia, discrimination skills, memory retention, and more.
Sleep is related to memory because of the effects that it has on insomnia. It has been suggested that
healthy sleep facilitates the consolidation of newly acquired memories and underlying brain plasticity.

The Generation, Generation Y, Born From 1980
The workforce in most workplaces is now made up of up to four generational cohorts. The diversity
between these generations, in how they work and how they use technology, can create conflict, and in
some cases reduce productivity. Conflicts caused by the generational gaps are due to differences in
work ethics, habits, and styles, attitudes, and expectations. Most of these changes have developed due
to the changing technology each generation works with. The newer generations are more experienced
and reliant on technology, while older generations will prefer to not use technology in the same ways.
This forces the employers to find some way to help the generations work together more effectively.
First is the newest generation, Generation Y, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is also part of why they like to change their jobs and careers more often than other generations;
they don t like that much sameness. Another issue is how their lives run. Generation Y is the busiest
generation ever, particularly when younger, resulting in less free time, and may mean their lives are
more scheduled. This can cause conflict when shifts need to be covered, and may make them more
inclined to get shifts off, which others may see as issues. Gen Y has also begun to read far less, even
over electronics, meaning they will take in much less from long written reports, policies, etc.
Employers will need to either find an alternative, or offer multiple forms of communicating the
information. For most of Gen Y, the more that is done using electronics, the better, making the key to a
functioning workplace with Gen Y implementing technologies into how the workplace runs. A balance
will have to be found, as the other generations are not as technologically inclined as Gen Y tends to
be. Generation Y should be valued for their understanding of technology and insight into its uses.
They will be capable of helping implement technology into the workplace, improving efficiency. Most
importantly, they can assist older generations in understanding newer technology. A lack of experience
only means they need to be taught, not that they will be incompetent. Generation Y

Improving Genetic Producers
Throughout our country producers are working hard and developing new methods to increase carcass
yields and better quality cattle. Often times producers focus on developing better genetics; which are
characteristics that make up an animal. In order to develop better genetics producers, take into
consideration many different things including what is the purpose of their operation. Often times
producers have many options available to them to improve genetic within their herd. In order to
increase genetics producers can conduct physical evaluations, look at pedigrees, and use artificial
insemination to increase genetic within their herd. First and foremost, producers can physically
evaluate animals to improve their genetics. Physical evaluation is often one of the most come ways a
producer can help improve their herd genetics. Producers are able to evaluate physical characteristics
such as muscle, body structure, and reproductive soundness. For instants, if a producer is looking to
improve muscle throughout their herd, then they would look at the forearm, back, gaskin, stifle, loin
and round. If a producer is looking to improve body structure than they will select cows with a deeper
body and more spring of rib. Physical evaluations are one of the easiest ways a producer can improve
his genetics within his herd.

if a bull is out of the price range of the producer or is too far away, a producer will order a straw of

with different genetic characteristics that may not be available to them elsewhere. With the use of
artificial insemination producers are able to not only increase genetics within their herd but also

Sex Trafficking In Texas
One of the growing issues in our society is sex trafficking. Sex Trafficking is a hidden crime because
victims rarely come forward to seek help due to language barriers, fear of the traffickers, and they do
not know where or who to turn too. These young girls are lured into prostitution by force, fraud, or
promises of a better life. Sex Trafficking is a serious crime that often goes overlooked because people
are uncomfortable with the issue, and are not sure how to fight it. This issue can be found even at our
own back door. The same interstate many Lamar Orange students use is the same one sex traffickers
use to transport their victims. One in every five victims of human trafficking in the U.S. travels

Sex traffickers use violence, threats, lies, debt bondage, and other forms of coercion to compel adults
and children to engage in commercial sex acts against their will. (Polaris Project) In the area of
organized crime, sex trafficking is one of the fastest growing businesses. The Texas Department of
Public Safety issued statistics that approximately 100,000 children are estimated to be in the sex trade
in the united states each year. Texas had the second highest incoming trafficking tips in 2013. These
incoming tips totaled 2,236 calls, emails, and tip forms. As of June 2015 there has been 833 calls and
214 cases reported. These numbers are expected to double before the end of the year. Houston is
known to be one of the largest cities for sex trafficking. This makes interstate 10, which runs through
Houston, one of the main routes for sex traffickers. Due to interstate 10 passing straight through the
golden triangle, Beaumont, Port Arthur, and Orange have seen a rise in sex trafficking victims. (8 12)
It is important to note that the actual number of sex trafficked individuals is higher than what has been
reported due to the secret nature of the crime. Many victims never come forward because of fear, age,
and a lack of realization that they are being used as sex

By understanding their causes and characteristics, managers can make sensihle decisions about when
and how to fight a price war, when to flee one and even when to start one. The first step, then, is
diagnosis. Consider a small commodities supplier that suddenly found that its largest competitor had
slashed prices to a level well below the small company s costs. One option the smaller company
considered was to lower its price in a tit for tat move. But that price would have heen below the
suppher s marginal cost; it would have suffered debilitating losses. Fortunately, a few phone calls
revealed that its adversary was attempting to drive the supplier out of the local market by underpricing
its products locally but maintaining high prices elsewhere. The supplier correctly diagnosed the
pricing move as predatory and elected to do two things. First, the manager called customers in the
competitor s home market to let them know that the price cutter was offering special deals in another
market. Second, he called local customers

The Haroun and The Sea of Stories by Salman Rushdie, is based on Harouns life stories and

Economics Is The Fundamental Force
No matter who you are, economics is integral to everything you do. The decisions one makes as a
consumer, employee, and voter impact his or her life in multiple aspects, often in ways that are not
obvious. The allocation of resources by companies, the government, and other people can alter your
economic opportunities greatly, and thus it is essential to understand how the choices that not only
you, but everyone and everything else makes, will alter your future. Doing so can can greatly enhance
your economic opportunities, while not being aware, and making poor economic decisions, can
greatly diminish your future economic well being. Every choice you make involves economic decision

In turn, this will increase the demand for goods needed to make more cars, such as rubber and metal.
In addition, even more workers are hired to make cars (at least for a time), thus creating even more
jobs. In this way, your and everyone else s decision to consume cars has stimulated a portion of the
economy. Perhaps this stimulation results in an opportunity for you to gain a better job, thus gaining
you a higher wage, and raising your standard of living. This is entirely hypothetical, yet plausible,
scenario of how your contribution to the economy as a consumer could enhance your economic
opportunities. Your decision as a consumer can do more than stimulate the growth of a business; it can
contribute to the decline of one as well. For example, perhaps you decide that you no longer wish to
eat meat, and decide to go vegetarian. This may seem like a relatively personal, and inconsequential
decision, yet it is actually very influential. If a large number of people decided to become vegetarian,
the meat industry would take a direct hit: obviously, there would be less meat demanded, and profits
would decrease. Furthermore, as less people demanded meat, the price would go down, as less people
purchased meat and it became harder to sell. Another effect this newfound vegetarianism would have
is due to cross price elasticity of meat and vegetables. As the demand of meats goes down, the price of
vegetables and grains would likely go up, as more are demanded.

Baldassare Castiglione, And Giovanni Pico Delia Mirandola
The Renaissance and Literature During the Italian Renaissance, many people began a new way of
thinking and with this new way of thinking, came literature. With these passages or books
characteristics of humanism, individualism, feudalism, and the interest in antiquity became clear. The
writings of Francesco Petrarch, Baldassare Castiglione , and Giovanni Pico delia Mirandola all give
insight to the beginnings of these ideas. Francesco Petrarch is a perfect example of a new found
fascination of antiquity through humanist teachings. In a passage from one of his literary pieces,
Petrarch scorns educators stating, There has arisen of late a set of dialecticians, who are not only

The Effect of the Death Penalty in Texas
The Effect of the Death Penalty in Texas
Introduction
A lot of heat and controversy surrounds capital punishment in today s society. The death penalty was
built into the Texas justice system in 1835 and has retained most of its strength compared to the rest of
the states. The famous motto Don t Mess with Texas stands true when concerning the death penalty; In
Kenneth William s article, Texas: Tough on Murderers or on Fairness?. Williams states, No one

in Texas the death penalty is saved for the worst criminals who are truly deserving. She says that
crime rates in Texas have fallen nearly sixty percent since the state started using the sentence for

The Influence Of The Voting Age On Young Teens
The voting age has been 18 for several centuries. Some people think lowering to 16 would be a great
opportunity for young teens, but there are obvious reasons why they still haven t lowered it. Some of
the reasons are 16 year olds can easily be influenced by their parent s choices, teens under 18 are less
experienced, society sees them as kids not as adults, and parents wouldn t allow their kids to go to
war. Many 16 year olds don t even care about politics even as they get closer to the voting age. The
percentage of young adults voting is low enough that even if 16 year olds could vote the percentage

country so why give them the privilege of voting. 18 years old were drafted because they were
matured and consider young adults. No one would ever let a 16 year old go to war, in parent s eyes a
16 year old teen is still their baby. Especially know that their kid might die in war. War is very
dangerous that s the only reason they accept 18 year olds and not 16 year olds. Cowley writes, You
can join the forces from 16, but only with parental consent, and front line service is avoided until 18,
not least because the UK has signed the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, which defines
childhood as lasting until 18. The reader can agree with Cowley that even if 16 year old could join the
forces they wouldn t be admitted until 18. Even if they wanted to join the forces the 16 year olds
would need parental consent to join in UK. Even though U.K allows 16 year olds to join forces they
wouldn t actually be frontline. They still don t allow 16 year olds to vote and most probably wouldn t
because 16 year olds are still considered children too their parents. The U.S. voting age used to be 21,

LIBERTERIAN THEORY vs. SOCIAL RESPONSBILITY THEORY
The libertarian theory states that people are capable enough to find out and judge good ideas from bad.
It further says that an individual is a rational being and his rational thoughts lead him to differentiate
between good and bad. The press ought not to confine anything; even a negative substance may give
information and can settle on better decision in worse situation. Under this theory, media s main
purpose is to inform, educate, entertain and act as a regulator of the government. Libertarian Theory
involves a belief that everyone has a right to information.Media is a form of free speech to the society.
There is an enormous liberty to the press and the right to freedom of speech and expression including
the freedom of propagation of ideas, and circulation given to it as there is individualism for press too.
The Social Responsibility theory states that the main role of media is to serve the public. With power,

There were many changes in the business of music records from the 1980s onward. For example, the
Telecommunications Act of 1996 law was passed. This enabled a free for all in for the record
companies and granted them the ability to compete with anyone in the market. What ended up
happening was the companies bought each other left and right until there were 5 or 6 big companies
that ran everything. The record industry controlled music production, distribution, and airplay on the
radio. Radio started out on the AM frequencies, then later the FM higher fidelity stations. The only
way to get music through to the masses feasibly was to go through the highly selective record

Billy Budd Analysis
Billy Budd is the story of the sailor Billy Budd and his time on the H.M.S Bellipotent during the last
decade of the 18th century, after being impressed from the previous ship he was on The Rights of Man
. He was seen as a handsome sailor , and was loved by his old crew. He was also innocent to a fault.
This man could not see the bad or suspicious in someone at all. In the context of this novel, he was the
purest good in this ship, which could also be seen as a microcosm of the world as it was. Billy as a
whole is seen mainly as a man without fault. He could do no wrong in his world, because he is the
personification of all that is good. This makes his one flaw, that being his stutter, the perfect aspect of
his being to show us of the dangers of innocence. The fact that he cannot bring words out to defend
himself against the malice tossed at him because his very being will not allow him to even
comprehend that there are people in the world with such ill intent. Ill intent does not exist to him, and
it ultimately proved to be his undoing. As if almost a flip of a coin, Claggart can be seen as the
complete opposite than that of Billy. An ugly man, in both the figurative and literal sense, Claggart s
innate malice is without cause or limit. While Billy lacks the awareness of the differences of human
actions and the intentions behind them, Claggart knows these differences all too well. He has a great

Feminism And The Feminist Movement Essay
The feminist movement came to fruition during the early 20th century. Over all, the push for women s
suffrage and rights was strong, but further enhanced by leaders like Alice Paul and Jane Addams. The
idea of equal rights for all was further scrutinized and contested after civil rights were granted to
former slaves. Women began to push for similar equality as illustrated through the feminist movement.
The feminist movement became very large and sprouted subsections, one being a subsection of
feminism known as social feminism. This branch of feminism was more interested in social rights and
used suffrage as a tool to obtain these rights. The question that arises from this idea of a more specific
section of feminism becomes: does social feminism qualify as feminism in its truest form? Does social
feminism embody the same ideas and morals of the feminist movement? In general, does social
feminism count as feminism? Some people question the validity of this brand of feminism. I believe
this section of feminism qualifies as feminism nonetheless. To examine this, we must first accurately
define social feminism and feminism as a whole, before we can actively compare them.
First, let us address the meaning of feminism as the overarching category, in which several specific
divisions of feminism fall. Feminism is an extremely simple concept to grasp, if one believes in equal
political, economic and social rights for men and women, then they can be classified as a

Zamperini from the biography Unbroken written by Laura Illenbrad is a specific example of the
modern man who has responded to gods call through key events that has changed his view towards
god. Similarly, Abraham from the bible was also called to do gods work but in a different set of
circumstances. Louis Zamperini was born into a vastly different family environment to Abraham.
Louis Zamperini was born to Italian immigrant parents in America. Louis family were middle class
however money did not come easy to them. Abrahams family is not mentioned in the bible however
he is a man that is well off will plenty of life stock and servants. Louis grew up with god as he grew
up in a strictly catholic family. However, Louis was forced into this faith he did not follow it willing
with him stopping when he moved out of home. Although he does find his way back to the lord. Louis
and Abraham also grew up in vastly different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Louis came back from the war he started drinking as a way to cure his post traumatic stress
disorder. His wife recognised that Louis was facing a serious problem and made him come along to
church with her. Louis was reluctant at first however after he realised that he had forgot his promise he
made himself while in prison this truly sent him on his journey towards Christ. Whereas Abraham was
always a Cristian man unlike Louis. However, Abraham truly became a Cristian man when god spoke
to him that he must father his nation. The thing that is consistent between them is that they were both
reluctant to serve god. However, they did not regret it

Junot Diaz s The Money
Junot Diaz is a professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is very widely known for this
writing and his background story. In Junot Diaz s story, The Money: Starting Out, he shares a story
from his childhood. The story is about when Diaz and his family had just recently moved to New
Jersey from Santo Domingo and they felt as if they were targeted. The neighborhood that they were
living in was not the top of the line, lots of robberies were taking place. The Diazs themselves are a
victim of robbery, but in the end, everything turns out to be good. Throughout Diaz s story the reader
can better understand and sympathize with this family because of the many uses of pathos and ethos in
the passage.
The context of this story ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Diaz informed us by providing some background of this childhood. He also explains to us that robbery
happens all the time, In our neighborhood, cars and apartments were always getting jacked, and the
kid stupid enough to leave a bike unattended for more than a tenth of a second was the kid who was
never going to see that bike again (Diaz 385). Thankfully many families do not have to think about
their personal items being stolen, but that does not mean that other families are always completely
safe.
It seemed as if the Diaz s were never safe. The stories focus is about a time that one of his best friends
stole his money, even though he thought he never would. His friend knew how bad his family was
struggling and he still stole from him. In the end Diaz regained his money and belongings, but this just
showed how much of a real friend he was. This family was already struggling and now they are hit
with a burden of theft. This just goes to show that anything can happen, but the outcome depends on
how people handle it.
The purpose of this story is to show that your childhood does not define your whole life. Diaz
obviously had a rough childhood at times. Especially moving into the United States from the
Dominican. His family did not have many funds, to give him all the things he needed. This did not
stop him from succeeding on his own though. Diaz went on to graduate high school, something that

a complex system of ropes and drums that might be considered to be a means of deciding which parts
of the mechanism performed which actions and when.[8] This is the essence of programmability.
Around the end of the 10th century, the French monk Gerbert d Aurillac brought back from Spain the
drawings of a machine invented by the Moors that answered either Yes or No to the questions it was
asked.[9] Again in the 13th century, the monks Albertus Magnus andRoger Bacon built talking
androids without any further development (Albertus Magnus complained that he had wasted forty
years of his life when Thomas Aquinas, terrified by his machine, destroyed it).[10]
In 1642, the Renaissance saw the invention of the mechanical calculator,[11] a device that could
perform all four arithmetic operations without relying on human intelligence.[12] The mechanical
calculator was at the root of the development of computers in two separate ways. Initially, it was in
trying to develop more powerful and more flexible calculators[13]

King Henry Viii Essay
King Henry VIII Henry VIII (born 1491, ruled 1509 1547). The second son of Henry VII and
Elizabeth of York was one of England s strongest and least popular monarchs. He was born at
Greenwich on June 28, 1491. The first English ruler to be educated under the influence of the
Renaissance, he was a gifted scholar, linguist, composer, and musician. As a youth he was gay and
handsome, skilled in all manner of athletic games, but in later life he became coarse and fat. When his
elder brother, Arthur, died (1502), he became heir apparent. He succeeded his father on the throne in
1509, and soon thereafter he married Arthur s young widow, Catherine of Aragon. During the first 20
years of his reign he left the shaping of policies largely in the ... Show more content on

In the northern part of the kingdom the people rose in rebellion in behalf of the monks, but the
Pilgrimage of Grace, as it was called, was put down. Although Henry reformed the government of the
church, he refused to allow any changes to be made in its doctrines. Before his divorce he had
opposed the teachings of Martin Luther in a book that had gained for him from the pope the title
Defender of the Faith a title the monarch of England still bears. After the separation from Rome he
persecuted with equal severity the Catholics who adhered to the government of Rome and the
Protestants who rejected its doctrines. Henry was married six times. Anne Boleyn bore the king one
child, who became Elizabeth I. Henry soon tired of Anne and had her put to death. A few days later he
married a third wife, Jane Seymour. She died in a little more than a year, after having given birth to
the future Edward VI. A marriage was then contracted with a German princess, Anne of Cleves, whom
the king had been led to believe to be very beautiful. When he saw her he discovered that he had been
tricked, and he promptly divorced this wife and beheaded Thomas Cromwell, the minister who had
arranged the marriage. Henry s fifth wife, Catherine Howard, was sent to the block for misconduct. In
1543 he married his sixth wife, the tactful and pious Catherine Parr. Catherine, who survived Henry,
lived to marry her fourth husband. During Henry s reign

Hitler Youth Analysis
Moving away from the window, the young man walked toward a school desk, the only furniture
present in the room. He left a glass soda bottle, labelled Eagle s Flight , on top of it. Just as he picked
up the bottle, two teenagers, a boy and a girl, entered the room. The boy wore the winter uniform of
the Hitlerjugend (Hitler Youth), the national youth movement of the German Reich. His female
accomplice, dressed in the winter uniform of the Hitler Youth s female wing, the Bund Deutscher
Mädel. They even carried handguns holstered around their hips.
After closing the door, the two saluted the young man, their right arms high above their shoulders.
Heil dir, Harold der kluger Mann Brotzman (Hail to thee, Harold the Wise Man Brotzman), they
chanted in unison.
Likewise, Harold saluted them in a similar manner. Ja, heil unser Deutschland (Yes, hail our
Germany), he responded. Kept you two waiting, huh? I ve been waiting here for the past several
hours!
The boy in the Hitler Youth uniform combed his flaxen hair, his dark blue eyes gazing toward Harold

My Life As A Microbe Project

Your Life as a Microbe project
September 1, 2016:
My name is strep. Streptococcus Mutans to be exact. I live in a diverse community but my family
make up about twenty percent of the world we live in. Our home is called mouth. We have lived here
for as long as I can remember. From what I have been told we lived here before there were even
homes for us. As a baby our host was kissed by a caregiver who transferred my family to our host. I
wasn t around yet but I hear we had to live down in the grooves of the tongue at that time. Then when
teeth began erupting we were able to upgrade into better homes but some of my family still lives down
in those valleys. We re a bacterium that is normal to have so our host has never really tried to kick us
out but we re not the cleanest of microbes and have been known to cause some tooth decay here and
there. I am writing this journal to keep record of the things that have been happening to us lately.
September 2, 2016:
I know that no one will ever be reading my journal besides me but if for some reason you re reading
this I know I kind of left you in the dark yesterday with what I said about our home. Which is funny
because we re pretty much always in the dark here. Lately some strange things have been happening
around here when it comes to how our host takes care of his mouth. Some of the streptococcus mutans
have been eliminated. That s a change because our world has mostly flourished for a very long time.
Our city was so

  • 2. It Feels Miserable Without You…Almost Like Having You Here Satire. A trend of the ancient times, following America like a lost a puppy. But where did it come from? Why did it get started? To answer these questions take a look at satirical historians. They believe the starting point of satire most likely goes back to many ancient ethnic groups who used it in rituals. The people believed that their words were just as powerful as their swords, making satire a thing to be feared. In fact, satire was so extremely feared among the ethnic groups and the people that if someone was found using it, they would be put to death by fire (Roman). Among those who have strong influences, Jonathan Swift wrote a wonderful explanation of satire in his preface to The Battle of the Books. He describes satire as a type ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Swift s use of a parody that the Irish should eat their babies is imitating the intelligence level of some people who think their ideas are so marvelous, when it is really a terrible suggestion (Swift). Another parody is found in A Modest Proposal as Swift explains his final statement. He claims . . . [I] have nothing to gain economically from this proposal . . . This is a parody because it imitates the usual objections of people who claim to be unselfish in their proposals (Swift). A reversal is a major technique used in the film Tangled. As Princess Rapunzel uses her unnaturally long hair to bring up her pretend mother from the tower, it is incredible how far the beautiful golden hair can reach. However, the fact that Rapunzel has to take care of her mother is simply not natural. Although every mom wants to feel beautiful and accepted by society, her main concern should be making sure her daughter feels beautiful and accepted. Many people have the capabilities to stun the rest of the world, but it is just not a natural thing for a teenage daughter to be taking care of her mother and making her feel young and wanted. This, above all, is truly daffy and out of proportion. The picture to the left is a very strong form of satire. There are a few types of satire it could fall under, but it is typically that of a parody. While most people have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sea level rise is accelerating. The number of large wildfires is growing. Dangerous heat waves are becoming more common. Extreme storm events are increasing in many areas. More severe droughts are occurring in others We must take immediate action to address global warming or these consequences will continue to intensify, grow ever more costly, and increasingly affect the entire planet including you, your community, and your family. The good news is that we have the practical solutions at hand to dramatically reduce our carbon emissions, slow the pace of global warming, and pass on a healthier, safer world to future generations.Global warming is happening now. The planet s temperature is rising. The trend is clear and unmistakable. Every one of the past 38 years has been warmer than the 20th century average. The 12 warmest years on record have all occurred since 1998. The hottest year ever recorded for the contiguous United States occurred in 2012. Globally, the average surface temperature has increased The scientific evidence is clear. Within the scientific community, there is no debate. According to Cartwright, the Aztecs also known as the Mexicans were one of the most powerful empires which were located in Mexico City before called Tenochtitlan, but covered most of northern Mesoamerica during 1345 and 1521(Cartwright, Aztec). Although relatively easy to measure, RV dP/dT can be dependent on loading conditions and may be less accurate in the setting of severe TR. • 11. Children s Child Entitlement, Dependency... Many parents always want a better life for their children than what they had. They always try to keep them as happy as can be and make sure the children have everything that they need and want. Most parents want to keep their children happy, and associating them with toys and the things that they want equates to happiness. Some children may deserve some of what is given to them, but other children may be given everything that they want. Busy parents, or parents who are not home a lot, feel that since they do not spend the time with their children that they must shower them in gifts. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This type of behavior leads to the idea of entitlement with children and teenagers. They already have it in their heads that they need this or want that, but as soon as the parents give in, they know that they can get away with it. Amy McCready, who partners with Kids R Kids for the expert parenting advice series states that, the two biggest culprits for the entitlement epidemic are over indulging and pampering. The child or teen gets what they want and have no gratitude or appreciation towards their parents. At a young age, children automatically depend on their parents. When they are babies and toddlers, they cannot do the things to maintain themselves. When a child or teen is spoiled, they rely on their parents to help them out whenever they are in need. There are cases in which the parent loves the idea that the child needs them, and doesn t give the child any type of responsibility. They do everything that the child asks or wants them to do just to keep them happy. This can lead to unmotivated children, since they know that their parents will do it themselves. Parents give their children a little money here and there, so now they believe that they do not need to work for it. The title of the poem leaves the reader to substitute the last word of the title, which some would assume would be out because of the repetition. The title is referring to the boy exiting the living world. Frost drags the reader s mind into the poem with the imagistic description of the tools and atmosphere the little boy is surrounded by. Frost describes the little boy s work in the first two lines by saying the stove length sticks of wood, inferring the practical nature of his work. The sister prepares the evening meal, making her contribution to the family; and calls on the boy to come and eat. The saw in the boy?s hands was still running and when he took his attention away from his work, and that split second of carelessness cost him an extremity. His instincts raised his arm upward to keep all the blood from spilling out immediately. When he realized what was happening, the boy finally realized he was to young to be doing a man?s work. The boy ?saw all spoiled,? and now knew his whole childhood had vanished and it was impossible to get it back. The boy frantically called out to his sister to make the doctor keep his hand on. The boy?s body must have instantly gone into shock and not felt the absence of the hand. When the doctor arrived he gave him some ether to make him go to sleep. The little boy began to lose his pulse and soon he was a stranger to the world. The people surrounding the boy never expected the loss of his hand to tragically end the little boy?s life. Frost?s almost appalling casual description of death shocks the reader enough to make them think. ?Since they were not the one dead, turned to their affairs,? describes the environment of the survivors. They are forced to move on with their life and keep working because they cannot afford to stop and mourn. The South African State Of The Zulu Writing Assignment 3 Origin of States For this paper, I decided to focus on the South African State of the Zulu and how it emerged into a state from a small tribe during the Early 1800 s. Shaka Zulu, The leader of the Zulu and the face of the Zulu as a nation when they came to power, was known to be a very fierce fighter and strong leader. Born around approximately 1787 as an illegitimate half son to the current leader of the Zulu, he was exiled from the state and worked his way up as the equivalent of an officer in an opposing states military. Once Shaka s father died, he used his military expertise along with the help of his current tribe s leader to take control of the Zulu tribe for himself, since he did have the blood line of their previous leader. Shaka almost single handedly grew the Zulu from a small south African Tribe into a state of over 100,000 people with almost half of the total population being in the active military. Through militaristic and expansionist values, Shaka quickly grew the Zulu from a small tribe into a large warring state which raided many other South African Tribes for their resources and wealth, and Shaka also absorbed them into the Zulu tribe whenever possible in order to increase his power and area of control. Shaka Zulu is widely known as one of Africa s fiercest warriors in history, and he is famous for how he alone is responsible for the Zulu s rise to power in South Africa. • 20. The Generation, Generation Y, Born From 1980 The workforce in most workplaces is now made up of up to four generational cohorts. The diversity between these generations, in how they work and how they use technology, can create conflict, and in some cases reduce productivity. Conflicts caused by the generational gaps are due to differences in work ethics, habits, and styles, attitudes, and expectations. Most of these changes have developed due to the changing technology each generation works with. The newer generations are more experienced and reliant on technology, while older generations will prefer to not use technology in the same ways. This can cause conflict when shifts need to be covered, and may make them more inclined to get shifts off, which others may see as issues. Gen Y has also begun to read far less, even over electronics, meaning they will take in much less from long written reports, policies, etc. Employers will need to either find an alternative, or offer multiple forms of communicating the information. For most of Gen Y, the more that is done using electronics, the better, making the key to a functioning workplace with Gen Y implementing technologies into how the workplace runs. A balance will have to be found, as the other generations are not as technologically inclined as Gen Y tends to be. Generation Y should be valued for their understanding of technology and insight into its uses. They will be capable of helping implement technology into the workplace, improving efficiency. Furthermore, as less people demanded meat, the price would go down, as less people purchased meat and it became harder to sell. Ill intent does not exist to him, and it ultimately proved to be his undoing. As if almost a flip of a coin, Claggart can be seen as the complete opposite than that of Billy. An ugly man, in both the figurative and literal sense, Claggart s innate malice is without cause or limit. While Billy lacks the awareness of the differences of human actions and the intentions behind them, Claggart knows these differences all too well. He has a great understanding of deception and ambiguity that he uses to hide his real ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Feminism And The Feminist Movement Essay The feminist movement came to fruition during the early 20th century. Over all, the push for women s suffrage and rights was strong, but further enhanced by leaders like Alice Paul and Jane Addams. The idea of equal rights for all was further scrutinized and contested after civil rights were granted to former slaves. Women began to push for similar equality as illustrated through the feminist movement. The feminist movement became very large and sprouted subsections, one being a subsection of feminism known as social feminism. This branch of feminism was more interested in social rights and used suffrage as a tool to obtain these rights. The question that arises from this idea of a more specific section of feminism becomes: does social feminism qualify as feminism in its truest form? Does social feminism embody the same ideas and morals of the feminist movement? In general, does social feminism count as feminism? Some people question the validity of this brand of feminism. I believe this section of feminism qualifies as feminism nonetheless. To examine this, we must first accurately define social feminism and feminism as a whole, before we can actively compare them. First, let us address the meaning of feminism as the overarching category, in which several specific divisions of feminism fall. Feminism is an extremely simple concept to grasp, if one believes in equal political, economic and social rights for men and women, then they can be classified as a ... The Subtle but Not So Subtle Discrimination In Alvin Chang s article, The subtle ways colleges discriminate against poor students, explained with a cartoon Chang uses multiple research projects to explain why students that have lower income or are first generation students are less likely to succeed in college. In the article Chang references a survey that was taken in order to see what different college administrators expect their students to acquire during their education. Another example of this is when Chang uses a study done by Nicole M Stephens, an Associate professor of psychology at Northwestern University, regarding the GPA difference between first generation students and continuing generation students. Although Chang does not bring in his own experiences as a professor his article is still credible because of the highly respected sources he brings to the table. He also explains to us that robbery happens all the time, In our neighborhood, cars and apartments were always getting jacked, and the kid stupid enough to leave a bike unattended for more than a tenth of a second was the kid who was never going to see that bike again (Diaz 385). Thankfully many families do not have to think about their personal items being stolen, but that does not mean that other families are always completely safe. It seemed as if the Diaz s were never safe. The stories focus is about a time that one of his best friends stole his money, even though he thought he never would. His friend knew how bad his family was struggling and he still stole from him. In the end Diaz regained his money and belongings, but this just showed how much of a real friend he was. This family was already struggling and now they are hit with a burden of theft. This just goes to show that anything can happen, but the outcome depends on how people handle it. The purpose of this story is to show that your childhood does not define your whole life. Diaz obviously had a rough childhood at times. Especially moving into the United States from the Dominican. His family did not have many funds, to give him all the things he needed. This did not stop him from succeeding on his own though. Diaz went on to graduate high school, something that most ... In the northern part of the kingdom the people rose in rebellion in behalf of the monks, but the Pilgrimage of Grace, as it was called, was put down. Although Henry reformed the government of the church, he refused to allow any changes to be made in its doctrines. Before his divorce he had opposed the teachings of Martin Luther in a book that had gained for him from the pope the title Defender of the Faith a title the monarch of England still bears. After the separation from Rome he persecuted with equal severity the Catholics who adhered to the government of Rome and the Protestants who rejected its doctrines. Henry was married six times. Anne Boleyn bore the king one child, who became Elizabeth I. Henry soon tired of Anne and had her put to death. A few days later he married a third wife, Jane Seymour. She died in a little more than a year, after having given birth to the future Edward VI. A marriage was then contracted with a German princess, Anne of Cleves, whom the king had been led to believe to be very beautiful. When he saw her he discovered that he had been tricked, and he promptly divorced this wife and beheaded Thomas Cromwell, the minister who had arranged the marriage. I live in a diverse community but my family make up about twenty percent of the world we live in. Our home is called mouth. We have lived here for as long as I can remember. From what I have been told we lived here before there were even homes for us. As a baby our host was kissed by a caregiver who transferred my family to our host. I wasn t around yet but I hear we had to live down in the grooves of the tongue at that time. Then when teeth began erupting we were able to upgrade into better homes but some of my family still lives down in those valleys. We re a bacterium that is normal to have so our host has never really tried to kick us out but we re not the cleanest of microbes and have been known to cause some tooth decay here and there. I am writing this journal to keep record of the things that have been happening to us lately. September 2, 2016: I know that no one will ever be reading my journal besides me but if for some reason you re reading this I know I kind of left you in the dark yesterday with what I said about our home. Which is funny because we re pretty much always in the dark here. Lately some strange things have been happening around here when it comes to how our host takes care of his mouth.
