Fourth module for GNED 1201 (Aesthetic Experience and Ideas). This one covers Greek art and culture during the archaic and classical time periods (roughly 700 - 400 BCE).
This course is a required general education course for all first-year students at Mount Royal University in Calgary, Canada. My version of the course is structured as a kind of Art History and Culture course. Some of the content overlaps with my other Gen Ed course.
Ancient Greece has a certain familiar presence in modern times, from the Trojan War and Odysseus to the commanding presence of the Parthenon. Art has an important role in keeping the ancient culture alive and well no matter the passage of time. Here’s a quick introduction to ancient Greek art, which still delights and keeps art enthusiasts and collectors in awe.

Introduction to Western Humanities - 4 - Classic GreeceRandy Connolly

This Powerpoint slideshow presentation briefly sketches the development of sculpture in ancient Greece, from its humble beginning in the Greek islands to its zenith in the Hellenistic age. It maps out the milestones and advances made in stages, with the help of images of Greek masterpieces, like the Sulky Kore, the Kritios Boy, the Artemision Bronze, the Riace Bronzes etc. The Ancient Greece is unique amongst the ancient civilizations to develop such very level high of naturalism, with its expressive and life-like sculptures. According to some art historians they were driven largely by the spirit rooted in the belief that man is a free, indeed an exalted, being or simply their idea and love of beauty.

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.

What other areas were ruled by the Greeks and who is mainly responsible for that?
26. The sculpture from the centre of the EAST pediment was destroyed when an
apse was built at the east end, to convert the Parthenon into a Christian church.
We know the pediment showed the birth of Athena, who sprang fully grown and
armed from the head of her father Zeus after Hephaistos struck him with an axe.
The centerpiece must have comprised these three and probably Hera.
The surviving sculptures are of other gods witnessing this event, and of horses
drawing the chariots of the Sun
(far left) and Moon (far right).
