INSIDE OUT Group Action
Groups choose a statement and gather participants to have their portraits taken
with the statement as their focus.
The digital images are sent to the INSIDE OUT studio,
printed into 36” x 53” posters and shipped back to the group leaders who paste
them in the public space of their choice.
OUR STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:
Creativity on the Inside and the Outside
At School One many people present themselves on the outside to be
artistic or creative types but not everyone dresses the part. Some
students are very creative in many different ways although they
might not be thought of that way based on how they look. We find
this to be a parallel to the appearance of our school. School One
used to be a Catholic school and is a rectangular brick box that has
no visual connection to the artistic and inspired imagination which
resides inside. We want our appearances and expressions to show
the world outside that our school generates creativity in a variety of
ways inside.

How did this idea come up?
On a rainy Saturday I ended up getting sucked into TED CONFERENCE videos.
This is where I first heard of the artist JR and his interesting idea.
The video is inspiring and shows that this is not just about pasting photos.
It is about ideas, feelings, and all that makes us human beings.
