Title: Adaptive Total Variation Regularization
Based SAR Image Despeckling and
Despeckling Evaluation Index
Abstract—We introduce a total variation (TV) regularization model for synthetic
aperture radar (SAR) image despeckling. A dual-formulation-based adaptive TV
(ATV) regularization method is applied to solve the TV regularization. The
parameter adaptation of the TV regularization is performed based on the noise
level estimated via wavelets. The TV-regularization-based image restorationmodel
has a good performance in preserving image sharpness and edges while removing
noises, and it is therefore effective for edge preserve SAR image despeckling.
Experiments have been carried out using optical images contaminated with
artificial speckles first and then SAR images. A despeckling evaluation index
(DEI) is designed to assess the effectiveness of edge preserve despeckling on SAR
images, which is based on the ratio of the standard deviations of two neighborhood
areas of different sizes of a pixel. Experimental results show that the proposed
ATV method can effectively suppress SAR image speckles without compromising
the edge sharpness of image features according to both subjective visual
assessment of image quality and objective evaluation using DEI.

This document proposes a new approach for video denoising and enhancement using optical flow estimation. It discusses using motion compensation via optical flow estimation along with principal component analysis (PCA) to provide fine video details. However, PCA has limitations in fully eliminating noise. The proposed method aims to replace PCA with wavelet transformation, which provides multi-resolution analysis and sparsity advantages for better denoising results in terms of PSNR and RMSE compared to PCA. It involves estimating optical flow between frames for motion compensation before applying wavelet transformation for noise removal and video reconstruction.

- An investigation was conducted of kV CBCT image quality and dose reduction for volume-of-interest (VOI) imaging using dynamic collimation. - A prototype iris aperture was used to dynamically collimate the radiation field as a function of gantry angle to track a predefined VOI, reducing scatter and improving image quality while lowering dose outside the VOI. - Preliminary results found that VOI imaging reduced scatter ratios by up to a factor of 8.4 compared to full-field imaging, lowered dose outside the VOI by up to 90%, and improved contrast-to-noise ratio by a factor of 2, demonstrating the potential for improved image guidance with reduced patient dose.

A compact microstrip antenna with a circular patch placed on a semicircular patch is designed for WLAN applications using defected ground structure (DGS) technique. The antenna is simulated using HFSS software on an FR-4 substrate with dimensions of 50mmx50mmx1.6mm. With a half ground plane, the antenna achieves a return loss of -37.3653dB, bandwidth of 3.61GHz, VSWR of 1.0275, and impedance matching of 49.7713ohms. Compared to other designs, this proposed antenna has better return loss and bandwidth for WLAN frequencies.

This document describes research on improving the performance of a circularly polarized patch antenna by varying the position of a stub. The antenna studied is a three-layer stacked microstrip patch antenna. Initially, the antenna without a stub showed poor return loss and axial ratio, indicating random polarization. A stub was then introduced at the radiating edge to generate circular polarization. By varying the stub position, the researchers measured parameters like return loss, axial ratio, and radiation efficiency. The best results were a return loss of -21.091 dB, axial ratio of 1.643 dB, and 100% antenna efficiency, indicating the design achieved circular polarization.

It uses commercial lenses and CCD cameras to perform spectroscopy at a fraction of the cost of custom components. While low-cost, PAggieSpec experiences light loss in the red wavelengths that requires more study to understand and address. The system demonstrates the potential of using commercial lenses for astronomy instrumentation at reduced cost.

This paper presents a technique for denoising digital radiographic images using a wavelet-based hidden Markov model. The method first applies the Anscombe transformation to adjust for Poisson noise, then uses the dual-tree complex wavelet transform for decomposition. A hidden Markov tree model is used to capture correlations between wavelet coefficients across scales. Two correction functions are applied to shrink coefficients before inverse transformation. Evaluation on phantom and clinical images showed the method outperforms Gaussian filtering in terms of noise reduction, detail quality and bone sharpness, though some edges had artifacts.

The study used ODEON acoustic simulation software to model the auditorium and predict reverberation times (RT) and other acoustic parameters. Absorptive and diffusive materials were used on walls to improve acoustics. The aim of this work is the achievement, and the validation of a small microstrip patch antenna array using a circular shaped dumbbell defected ground structure. This work has been dividing into two stages: The first step is to miniaturize a microstrip patch antenna resonating at 5.8GHz, which operate in the Industrial Scientific Medical band (ISM) and the second is to use a circular defected ground structure to shift the resonance frequency of the antenna array from 5.8GHz to 2.45GHz. At last, a miniaturization up to 74.47%, relative to the original microstrip antenna array has accomplished. The antenna structure has designed, optimized and miniaturized using CST MW Studio. The obtained results have compared with Ansoft’s HFSS electromagnetic solver. The antenna array has fabricated on FR-4 substrate, and its reflection coefficient is measured.

Homography normalization is presented as a novel gaze estimation method for uncalibrated setups. The method applies when head movements are present but without any requirements to camera calibration or geometric calibration. The method is geometrically and empirically demonstrated to be robust to head pose changes and despite being less constrained than cross-ratio methods, it consistently performs favorably by several degrees on both simulated data and data from physical setups. The physical setups include the use of off-the-shelf web cameras with infrared light (night vision) and standard cameras with and without infrared light. The benefits of homography normalization and uncalibrated setups in general are also demonstrated through obtaining gaze estimates (in the visible spectrum) using only the screen reflections on the cornea.

This document analyzes the gain enhancement of different shapes of microstrip patch antennas. It simulates eight antenna shapes (square patch, circular patch, circular loop, square loop, cross dipole, square aperture, Jerusalem cross, and gridded square frequency selective surface) with and without an electromagnetic band gap (EBG) using ADS software. The results show that antennas using an EBG structure have higher gain compared to those without an EBG. Specifically, the square aperture and circular patch antennas achieved the highest gain of 3.38 and 3.502 respectively when incorporating an EBG. In conclusion, EBG structures are effective in improving the gain of microstrip patch antennas.

Unsupervised Deep Learning for Accelerated High Quality Echocardiography

Echocardiography is a pivotal imaging tool for emergency medicine. Unfortunately, it suffers from poor image quality due to the intrinsic limitations of sonography systems. Towards this end, a better quality can be achieved at the cost of reduced frame rate by increasing the number of transmit/receive events and utilizing computationally expensive noise suppression algorithms. However, this visual quality and temporal resolution trade-off is a bottleneck for many echocardiography applications. Conventional acceleration methods, such as multi-line acquisition (MLA), work only for limited acceleration factors and produce blocking artifacts at a high frame rate. Accordingly, various machine learning algorithms have been designed to reduce blocking artifacts in MLA. These algorithms require access to either high-quality raw RF data or time-delayed baseband IQ data. Unfortunately, in many lower-end commercial systems, such data are not accessible. On the other hand, ultrasound images are badly affected by speckle noises which significantly reduces the image quality. We propose an image domain unsupervised deep learning framework using cycleGAN architecture for high quality accelerated echocardiography that simultaneously reduces the blocking artifacts and the speckle noise. The method is evaluated on real in-vivo and phantom data and achieves notable performance gain.

Biological tissue interaction with Electromagnetic fields became one of the interesting studies in the last years. Wide variety wireless electronic devices are emerged in day to day life each providing a wireless connection for a certain service such as Global Positioning System, broadcasting systems, mobile communication systems, and networking. In this research article, fractal sierpinski square patch antenna is proposed and simulated to operate over L1 frequency range of 1.575 GHz for GPS applications using CST studio Suite where the proposed antenna has been investigated on Carpet shaped substrate made of Arlon 250 AD lossy. The dielectric constant equals to 2.5 and thickness of 1.6 mm. Thickness of patch is 0.6 mm. Also, the electromagnetic fields absorption on the human fingers is investigated where SAR levels are calculated for 0th, 1st, 2nd and 3rd iteration of the Fractal Sierpinski Square Patch Antenna. The results reported that the SAR limit of human finger tissue is enhanced with increasing the number of iteration: finger, human, tissue, GPS, SAR, absorption.

The several array operates in C-Band frequencies (4GHz – 8GHz) and X-Band frequencies (8GHz-12GHz) with a 1.82 VSWR, -18.72dB Return loss, 0.29 reflection coefficient, and 5.8dB gain for 2x2 array, 1.64 VSWR, -16.17dB Return loss, 0.24 reflection coefficient, and 5.4dB gain for 2x4 array, 1.04 VSWR, - 37.70dB Return loss, 0.19 reflection coefficient, and 7.6dB gain for 4x4 array. All of the varians in array elements are feed using a direct feeding technique. This array antenna is suitable developed for use in radar communication systems.

Raytracing is used to calculate x-ray attenuations through each voxel to generate projection images. Filtered backprojection is then used to reconstruct slices from the projections. Preliminary results show the simulated tomosynthesis can restore object slices. Further work will optimize geometry parameters and test different reconstruction algorithms.

Using SAR Intensity and Coherence to Detect A Moorland Wildfire Scar

This document presents a study that used SAR intensity and coherence to detect a fire scar in a degraded moorland environment in the UK. It describes the methodology, which involved preprocessing SAR data and extracting backscatter values for different land cover classes within the fire scar over time. The results show that precipitation and land cover affected the SAR intensity signal inside the fire scar, with peat bog having the highest returns. InSAR coherence was also analyzed for pairs before and after the fire. The summary concludes that SAR intensity can detect large fire scars but coherence needs more exploration, and recommends investigating different fire scenarios and radar frequencies.

This paper presents a new approach for the enhancement of Synthetic Radar Imagery using Discrete Wavelet Transform and its variants. Some of the approaches like nonlocal filtering (NLF) techniques, and multiscale iterative reconstruction (e.g., the BM3D method) do not solve the RE/SR imaging inverse problems in descriptive settings imposing some structured regularization constraints and exploits the sparsity of the desired image representations for resolution enhancement (RE) and superresolution (SR) of coherent remote sensing (RS). Such approaches are not properly adapted to the SR recovery of the speckle-corrupted low resolution (LR) coherent radar imagery. These pitfalls are eradicated by using DWT approach wherein the despeckled/deblurred HR image is recovered from the LR speckle/blurry corrupted radar image by applying some of the descriptive-experiment-design-regularization (DEDR) based re-constructive steps. Next, the multistage RE is consequently performed in each scaled refined SR frame via the iterative reconstruction of the upscaled radar images, followed by the discrete-wavelet-transform-based sparsity promoting denoising with guaranteed consistency preservation in each resolution frame. The performance of the method proposed is compared in terms of the number of iterations taken by it with other techniques existing in the literature.

This Paper presents a wavelet-based multiscale products thresholding scheme for noise suppression of magnetic resonance images. This paper proposed a method based on image de-noising and edge enhancement of noisy multidimensional imaging data sets. Medical images are generally suffered from signal dependent noises i.e. speckle noise and broken edges. Most of the noises signals appear from machine and environment generally not contribute to the tissue differentiation. But, the noise generated due to above mentioned reason causes a grainy appearance on the image, hence image enhancement is required. For the intent of image denoising, Adaptive Multiscale Product Thresholding based on 2-D wavelet transform is used. In this method, contiguous wavelet sub bands are multiplied to improve edge structure while reducing noise. In multiscale products, boundaries can be successfully distinguished from noise. Adaptive threshold is designed and forced on multiscale products as an alternative of wavelet coefficients or recognize important features. For the edge enhancement. Canny Edge Detection Algorithm is used with scale multiplication technique. Simulation results shows that the planned technique better suppress the Poisson noise among several noises i.e. salt & pepper, speckle noise and random noise. The Performance of Image Intesification can be estimate by means of PSNR, MSE.

We develop an efficient MRI denoising algorithm based on sparse representation and curvelet transform with variance stabilizing transformation framework. By using sparse representation, a MR image is decomposed into a sparsest coefficients matrix with more no of zeros. Curvelet transform is directional in nature and it preserves the important edge and texture details of MR images. In order to get sparsity and texture preservation, we post process the denoising result of sparse based method through curvelet transform. To use our proposed sparse based curvelet transform denoising method to remove rician noise in MR images, we use forward and inverse variance-stabilizing transformations. Experimental results reveal the efficacy of our approach to rician noise removal while well preserving the image details. Our proposed method shows improved performance over the existing denoising methods in terms of PSNR and SSIM for T1, T2 weighted MR images.

X-Ray Image Enhancement using CLAHE Method

This document presents a method for enhancing X-ray images using Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLAHE). CLAHE improves local contrast and edge definition by applying histogram equalization separately to small regions of the image rather than the entire image. It prevents overamplification of noise that can occur with adaptive histogram equalization. The proposed method uses an image processing filter chain including noise reduction, high pass filtering, and CLAHE to enhance 2D X-ray images. Key parameters of the filter chain are optimized using an interior point algorithm. The goal is to provide customized tissue contrast for each treatment location to allow for accurate patient setup and analysis in radiation therapy. Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is a special type of imaging radar that involves advanced technology and complex data processing to obtain detailed images from the lake surface. Lake ice typically reflects more of the radar energy emitted by the sensor than the surrounding area, which makes it easy to distinguish between the water and the ice surface. In this research work, SAR images are used for ice classification based on supervised and unsupervised classification algorithms. In the pre-processing stage, Hue saturation value (HSV) and Gram–Schmidt spectral sharpening techniques are applied for sharpening and resampling to attain highresolution pixel size. Based on the performance evaluation metrics it is proved that GramSchmidt spectral sharpening performs better than sharpening the HSV between the boundaries. In classification stage, Gram–Schmidt spectral technique based sharpened SAR images are used as the input for classifying using parallelepiped and ISO data classifier. The performances of the classifiers are evaluated with overall accuracy and kappa coefficient. From the experimental results, ice from water is classified more accurately in the parallelepiped supervised classification algorithm.

Development in the field of image processing for reducing speckle noise from digital images/satellite images is a challenging task for image processing applications. Previously many algorithms were proposed to de-speckle the noise in digital images. Here in this article we are presenting experimental results on de-speckling of Synthetic Aperture RADAR (SAR) images. SAR images have wide applications in remote sensing and mapping the surfaces of all planets. SAR can also be implemented as "inverse SAR" by observing a moving target over a substantial time with a stationary antenna. Hence denoising of SAR images is an essential task for viewing the information. Here we introduce a transformation technique called ―Ridgelet‖, which is an extension level of wavelet. Ridgelet analysis can be done in the similar way how wavelet analysis was done in the Radon domain as it translates singularities along lines into point singularities under different frequencies. Simulation results were show cased for proving that proposed work is more reliable than compared to other de-speckling processes, and the quality of de-speckled image is measured in terms of Peak Signal to Noise Ratio and Mean Square Error

This document presents a method for reducing speckle noise in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images using the curvelet transform. SAR images are affected by speckle noise during image capture and transmission. The curvelet transform is used to decompose the SAR image into different scales and orientations. Thresholding is applied to the curvelet coefficients to remove coefficients corresponding to noise. The inverse curvelet transform is then applied to reconstruct the denoised image. Experimental results on SAR images show that the proposed curvelet-based method achieves higher peak signal-to-noise ratio and lower mean squared error than conventional filters, indicating it more effectively removes noise while preserving image detail.

Recent advances in video capturing and display technologies, along with the exponentially increasing demand of video services, challenge the video coding research community to design new algorithms able to significantly improve the compression performance of the current H.264/AVC standard. This target is currently gaining evidence with the standardization activities in the High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) project. The distortion models used in HEVC are mean squared error (MSE) and sum of absolute difference (SAD). However, they are widely criticized for not correlating well with perceptual image quality. The structural similarity (SSIM) index has been found to be a good indicator of perceived image quality. Meanwhile, it is computationally simple compared with other state-of-the-art perceptual quality measures and has a number of desirable mathematical properties for optimization tasks. We propose a perceptual video coding method to improve upon the current HEVC based on an SSIM-inspired divisive normalization scheme as an attempt to transform the DCT domain frame prediction residuals to a perceptually uniform space before encoding. Based on the residual divisive normalization process, we define a distortion model for mode selection and show that such a divisive normalization strategy largely simplifies the subsequent perceptual rate-distortion optimization procedure. We further adjust the divisive normalization factors based on local content of the video frame. Experiments show that the scheme can achieve significant gain in terms of rate-SSIM performance and better visual quality when compared with HEVC

RESEARCH ON NOISE REDUCTION AND ENHANCEMENT ALGORITHM OF GIRTH WELD IMAGE

In order to eliminate the salt pepper and Gaussian mixed noise in X-ray weld image, the extreme value characteristics of salt and pepper noise are used to separate the mixed noise, and the non local mean filtering algorithm is used to denoise it. Because the smoothness of the exponential weighted kernel function is too large, it is easy to cause the image details fuzzy, so the cosine coefficient based on the function is adopted. An improved non local mean image denoising algorithm is designed by using weighted Gaussian kernel function. The experimental results show that the new algorithm reduces the noise and retains the details of the original image, and the peak signal-to-noise ratio is increased by 1.5 dB. An adaptive salt and pepper noise elimination algorithm is proposed, which can automatically adjust the filtering window to identify the noise probability. Firstly, the median filter is applied to the image, and the filtering results are compared with the pre filtering results to get the noise points. Then the weighted average of the middle three groups of data under each filtering window is used to estimate the image noise probability. Before filtering, the obvious noise points are removed by threshold method, and then the central pixel is estimated by the reciprocal square of the distance from the center pixel of the window. Finally, according to Takagi Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy rules, the output estimates of different models are fused by using noise probability. Experimental results show that the algorithm has the ability of automatic noise estimation and adaptive window adjustment. After filtering, the standard mean square deviation can be reduced by more than 20%, and the speed can be increased more than twice. In the enhancement part, a nonlinear image enhancement method is proposed, which can adjust the parameters adaptively and enhance the weld area automatically instead of the background area. The enhancement effect achieves the best personal visual effect. Compared with the traditional method, the enhancement effect is better and more in line with the needs of industrial field.

Geometric attacks can desynchronize the location of the watermark and hence cause incorrect watermark detection. This paper presents a robust colour image watermarking scheme based on visually significant feature points and image normalization technique. The feature points are used as synchronization marks between watermark embedding and detection. The watermark is embedded into the non overlapped normalized circular regions in the luminance component or the blue component of a color image. The embedding of the watermark is carried out by modifying the DCT coefficients values in selected blocks. The original unmarked image is not required for watermark extraction Experimental results show that the proposed scheme successfully makes the watermark perceptually invisible as well as robust to common signal processing and geometric attacks.

This paper describes a speed control device for generating electrical energy on an electricity network based on the doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) used for wind power conversion systems. At first, a double-fed induction generator model was constructed. A control law is formulated to govern the flow of energy between the stator of a DFIG and the energy network using three types of controllers: proportional integral (PI), sliding mode controller (SMC) and second order sliding mode controller (SOSMC). Their different results in terms of power reference tracking, reaction to unexpected speed fluctuations, sensitivity to perturbations, and resilience against machine parameter alterations are compared. MATLAB/Simulink was used to conduct the simulations for the preceding study. Multiple simulations have shown very satisfying results, and the investigations demonstrate the efficacy and power-enhancing capabilities of the suggested control system.

This research centres on the power struggle, considering geopolitical, geostrategic, and geoeconomic variables. Topics including trade, political hegemony, oil politics, and conventional and nontraditional security are all explored and explained by the researcher. Using Mackinder's Heartland, Spykman Rimland, and Hegemonic Stability theories, examines China's role in Central Asia. This study adheres to the empirical epistemological method and has taken care of objectivity. This study analyze primary and secondary research documents critically to elaborate role of china’s geo economic outreach in central Asian countries and its future prospect. In the domain of brain tumor segmentation, the ability to precisely delineate tumor boundaries from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans holds profound implications for diagnosis. This study presents an ensemble convolutional neural network (CNN) with transfer learning, integrating the state-of-the-art Deeplabv3+ architecture with the ResNet18 backbone. The model is rigorously trained and evaluated, exhibiting remarkable performance metrics, including an impressive global accuracy of 99.286%, a high-class accuracy of 82.191%, a mean intersection over union (IoU) of 79.900%, a weighted IoU of 98.620%, and a Boundary F1 (BF) score of 83.303%. Notably, a detailed comparative analysis with existing methods showcases the superiority of our proposed model. These findings underscore the model’s competence in precise brain tumor localization, underscoring its potential to revolutionize medical image analysis and enhance healthcare outcomes. This research paves the way for future exploration and optimization of advanced CNN models in medical imaging, emphasizing addressing false positives and resource efficiency.

The aquaponic system of planting is a method that does not require soil usage. It is a method that only needs water, fish, lava rocks (a substitute for soil), and plants. Aquaponic systems are sustainable and environmentally friendly. Its use not only helps to plant in small spaces but also helps reduce artificial chemical use and minimizes excess water use, as aquaponics consumes 90% less water than soil-based gardening. The study applied a descriptive and experimental design to assess and compare conventional and reconstructed aquaponic methods for reproducing tomatoes. The researchers created an observation checklist to determine the significant factors of the study. The study aims to determine the significant difference between traditional aquaponics and reconstructed aquaponics systems propagating tomatoes in terms of height, weight, girth, and number of fruits. The reconstructed aquaponics system’s higher growth yield results in a much more nourished crop than the traditional aquaponics system. It is superior in its number of fruits, height, weight, and girth measurement. Moreover, the reconstructed aquaponics system is proven to eliminate all the hindrances present in the traditional aquaponics system, which are overcrowding of fish, algae growth, pest problems, contaminated water, and dead fish.

Logic Mind Technologies Vijayangar (Near Maruthi Medicals), Bangalore-40 Ph: 8123668124 // 8123668066 Title: Adaptive Total Variation Regularization Based SAR Image Despeckling and Despeckling Evaluation Index Abstract—We introduce a total variation (TV) regularization model for synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image despeckling. A dual-formulation-based adaptive TV (ATV) regularization method is applied to solve the TV regularization. The parameter adaptation of the TV regularization is performed based on the noise level estimated via wavelets. The TV-regularization-based image restorationmodel has a good performance in preserving image sharpness and edges while removing noises, and it is therefore effective for edge preserve SAR image despeckling. Experiments have been carried out using optical images contaminated with artificial speckles first and then SAR images. A despeckling evaluation index (DEI) is designed to assess the effectiveness of edge preserve despeckling on SAR images, which is based on the ratio of the standard deviations of two neighborhood areas of different sizes of a pixel. Experimental results show that the proposed ATV method can effectively suppress SAR image speckles without compromising the edge sharpness of image features according to both subjective visual assessment of image quality and objective evaluation using DEI.
