Relationship of Societal Institutions and the Concept of...
Pierre Bourdieu is a French sociologist who presents a focus on the relationship of societal institutions
and the concept of habitus. Habitus is simply the socially structured norms that influence individuals
in order to direct the ideas and behaviors that make them who they are. With this, habitus does not
allow individuals to possess complete freedom of their thoughts and perceptions. The individual s
expressions, judgments, thoughts, perceptions, and behaviors are all reflective of societal structures
such as, class, gender, politics, and education which are then reproduced by their actions. These
common practices and perceptions are formed by one s history and can be modified over time through
different lifestyles and unexpected conditions such as education, age, or becoming a parent. This
means that individuals will not have a habitus identical to another individual. Lastly, people s
everyday activities and tastes exist in relation to the people around them and that habitus is essential to
controlling aspects of individual s social lives (Johnson 2006). Bourdieu s concept of habitus is
evident through his articles, Distinction and Cultural Reproduction and Social Reproduction and can
also be demonstrated in Shamus Kahn s book, Privilege. Bourdieu s article, Distinction exemplifies
this idea of habitus and the effect of institutions on social and cultural patterns. He demonstrates how
these institutions instill a social order into people s thoughts and everyday

Petruchio Monologue
Studying The Taming of the Shrew through performance led me to understand the power of language
and importance of speech. [The play was a comedy, so I had a lot of fun with Petruchio s outspoken
character and exaggerated persona. In order to perform as him, I needed to understand his underlying
motivations.] Petruchio is defined by two motivations: wealth and dominance. His main motive to
wed Katharina is to gain wealth, for the dowry he will receive once they are married. This is shown by
his emphasis and haste to ask for the dowry when he first meets Katharina s father. He asks, Then tell
me, if I get you daughter s love, / What dowry shall I have with her to wife ( )? Baptista responds,
After me death the one half of my lands, / And in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He demeans Katharina through sexual innuendos. For instance, when Katharina calls him a nice stool,
Petruchio responds with Thou hast hit it: come sit on me (2.1.209). His quick response with a sexual
innuendo shows his imperviousness to her insults. That is why I chose to say this conceited and loud
to show that he is pleased about his swift counter Katharina s biting remarks. At the end of the
encounter between Katharina and Petruchio, Petruchio ends with a speech declaring that they will be
married, no matter how much she opposes it or defies him. He says in his monologue, For I am he am
born to tame you Kate, / And bring you from a wild Kate to a Kate / Conformable as other household
Kates (2.1.291 293). Here, Petruchio is seen as declaring control Katharina. That is why I chose to say
this in an assertive manner, staring directly into the eyes of Nabiha, who was acting as Katharina,
while slowly and confidently walking towards her, backing her into a corner. I emphasized wild and
conformable to convey the dominating role of Petruchio. This also foreshadows the alarming lengths
he later goes to impose dominance over

The World Of The New Country
The city would have theatres, churches, restaurants, schools, a football stadium and a Marine zoo. The
outer massive concrete wall was curved to deflect the wind above it. All around the city, except for a
gap to let ships through, would be a line of sausage shaped canisters. These would be positioned at
some distance from the wall, and being part filled with water, would float low in the sea. These were
designed to break the large waves coming towards the sea. Oceania: The Atlantis Project
Appropriately named Oceania, this new country is expected to be built off the coast of Panama, 50
miles due east. Oceania will utilize ocean pontoon floating technology, similar to that used by the
Saigon Floating Hotel, off the coast of Saigon, Vietnam, which was designed by Sten Sjostrand. This
country will be devoted to the value of freedom, and will first exist as a sea city in the Caribbean.
Mike Oliver and Eric Klein were the founders of the Alantis Project. They visualized a country where
there would be no taxes. It would be a haven for free thought and free enterprise. They imagined a
place where one could invest or run his business without the interference of government bureaucrats
and tax extortionists. The only people one needed to answer to would be ones customers and
contractors. The architect of the project, Sten Sjostrand designed the city taking the hexagon as a
module. His structure was feasible for very large structures, but inefficient for small communities. An

Football Concussions And Head Injuries
Football Concussions and Head Injuries
Football is one of the most popular sports played today, but, many injuries can occur while playing
football. Some of these injuries may include broken bones, spinal injuries and concussions. High
school football accounts for forty seven percent of all reported sports
concussions(headcasecompany.com). A concussion, also known as mild traumatic brain injury
(MTBI), is a brain injury caused by a blow to the head or a violent shaking of the head or body.
Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) is a degenerative disease of the brain and is associated with
repeated head traumas like concussions (CNN.com). Brain injuries cause more deaths in sports than
any other injury. If we want to continue the sport of football in our youth and young teens, we need to
have ways to prevent head injuries. Some ways of preventing head injuries would be different helmet
designs, better tackling techniques or less contact time in practices.
The Strib piece, is about Wally Hilgenberg, the former Minnesota Vikings linebacker who died in
2008 at age 66. He had been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), but a brain analysis
after his death has led a group of Boston scientists to conclude his symptoms were more likely the
result of repeated trauma to his head (Kaszuba).

Essay about My Family s Experience with Foreclosure
Foreclosure is one of the hardest things that a person can be introduced to. It can make a person or
break a person, but for me it made me so much stronger. I can truly say I have accomplished much
more since getting out of a foreclosure scam at a very young age of 16. Throughout that hard time I
just continued to not only motivate myself, but my mother because I understand getting something
taken away from you that you have worked hard for can destroy a good person. This is what happened
to my family and I, and what we did to overcome it. April 1, 2007 we got the phone call stating we
had finally been approved to move into our first family home after 13 years. We were so ecstatic that
we immediately started packing that very night. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This lady sat at our dining room table talking to me and my mother about how we were going to sue
the man who leased us this home because he was not the full owner of the house. He had some
privileges to the home but only financially. We stopped paying our monthly bill for 3 months because
foreclosure on the home would mean a immediate termination of our contract. The owner of the home
also told us she came because the mortgage on the home had not been paid since May. So not only
was the partial owner of the home not informing us of his financial problem but he did not pay the
mortgage company the money we gave him and still to this day we do not know where our money is.
We soon heard from him around Christmas time but not about the foreclosure. The conversation
revolved around if he didn t get his money what he would do to my family. We were threatened
mentally and physically to the point that we changed the locks and immediately started looking for
another home. We found out the situation we were in was a scam because we did some research and
noticed that we were not the first person he had approached with the same offer but also who lost all
of their money in the same home the same way we were. A week before Christmas eve my family
received a phone call from the sheriff s office from a man who was extremely concerned about us. He

university, get his first class honors degree and then become a scientist. Christopher has set great goals
for himself despite barriers that he knows he will face, but still continues to reach for his goals.
Disability will not affect chris, he will move past it. Christopher achieves his goals because of his
never ending determination. Diana French describes how literacy is power when she writes Literacy
involves a continuum of learning to enable an individual to achieve his or her goals, to develop his or
her knowledge and potential, and to participate fully in the wider society. (Literacy Is Power)The
depiction of this quote is that continuous sequences of different elements will let one achieve their
goals. By creating goals, we are also achieving many new experiences along the way and learning a
variety of new things. The same is with Christopher. A series of events allow him to achieve his goals.
For Example, going through his father s belongings even though he knew he would get in trouble,
resulted in a good outcome, as he found his mother s letters.

everything is good to go. This could not have been further from the truth. At this point, he is not aware
of the problems he will face in his new endeavor. Carl s lack of experience is clearly exhibited when
his assurance has not been tested. The next key problem that arises for Carl is when he checks the new
trainee files and discovers that they are incomplete. All the new recruits have gone through the
interview process and filled out their paperwork. Unfortunately, the paperwork is incomplete and
missing lots of valuable data. To make matters worse, some files are missing transcripts, and no one
has completed the required drug screens. Problems only get worse for Carl when he discovers that
only three copies of the employee manuals exist. Of the three manuals that exist, they are all missing
several pages. Unfortunately, he needs fifteen complete copies. As if the previous issues alone are not
bad enough, Carl also learns that the training room he plans to use for orientation has been booked by
another individual for the entire month of June. At this point, he is faced with a serious dilemma, and
his lack of experience reveals that he does not realize the severity of his problem. Namely, he lacks
leadership because he failed to prepare and assumed that his first project would go smoothly. Next, he

Donald Justice s Poem Incident In A Rose Garden
Live While You Can
James 4:14
Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are nothing more than
a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes.
Donald Justice wrote a poem called Incident in a Rose Garden, showing readers the true fact that life
is nothing more than a vapor. It evaporates almost as quickly as it is made. However, there is beauty in
it as well as surprise. He portrays this theme throughout the poem by using contrast and irony.
Furthermore, there are many people that are scared of death and for good reasons. Although death is
final and cannot be undone, it is a beautiful thing. Mr. Justice shows this by using the literary device
of contrast. During the poem, Death is amid the rose gardens. When people think of roses, they
usually think of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Donald Justice uses situational irony to establish to readers that death is sometimes unexpected. The
gardener realized this by saying I want to see my sons/ Once more before I die./ I want to see
California (Justice 17 19). The gardener realized almost too late that life is short. This is apparent in
his sudden push to see family and foreign places. Even though Death is not coming for the Gardener,
it was an important lesson that the Gardener learns. Many people believe that they will never die or
that they deserve to live forever. When, in fact, no one is owed life and no one should have a sense of
entitlement. In the poem, the master addresses death: Sir, you must be that stranger/ Who threatened
my gardener./ This is my property, sir (Justice 16 18). From this quote, readers infer that the master
does not believe that Death has any reason to be on his property. In other words, the Master thinks he
deserves a tomorrow even though he does not. Mr. Justice uses situational irony to show readers how
death will sometimes come at the moments one does not

The Challenges Of Canada s Health Care System
There are 196 countries with healthcare systems across the world... Canada s healthcare system is
ranked 30th overall. Most critics keep health care related debates to the small scope of Canada and the
USA. However, neither the USA nor Canada s systems are ranked in the top 25 for overall efficiency
(The Patient Factor). In order for Canada s healthcare system to improve, there must be changes made
in regards to major problems; financial aspects, timely access, and the doctor shortages. Evidence
shows that the best healthcare systems in the world are founded on a strong primary care system

This survey included over 3,700 physicians in eight different countries. The results showed Canada
continuously had the lowest overall adaption rate; early adaption of technologies is a key element to
sustaining healthcare systems (Williams). Canada is a slow adapter of innovative technologies that
could enhance the quality of health care services and improve the health and quality of life of
Canadians (Daniel Muzyka). There is plenty of evidence to validate that many Canadians are incorrect
in believing that they have the best healthcare system in the world . Spending on healthcare in Canada
continues to outpace the government spending program in growth and is limiting public investments
in other areas that would make for an overall more effective society (Daniel Muzyka). Canada is the
10th highest spender, spending an average of $2,600 per Canadian per year. Recent studies by Brett
Skinner have looked at trends in the annual growth rates for provincial healthcare expenditures and
total government revenue. He found that if recent trends persist, provincial government spending on
healthcare will consume more than half of total revenues from all sources in six of 10 provinces by the
year 2020 (Neil Stuart). Due to the over spending factor and tight budgets, several healthcare
institutions in Canada are cutting back costs any way they can. Specifically, in

INTRODUCTION pH is a scale that is used to determine the acidity or alkalinity of a solution. A
solution
with a pH less than 7 is considered acidic and a solution with a pH of more than 7 is considered
basic. In the first part of this lab we had to make several solutions and using a litmus paper
deduce it s pH number, this is done by analyzing its color, and determine if the solution is acidic
or basic. In the second part we had put a basic solution into several solutions to see if it would
have an effect on its pH. A more detailed information about the procedure can be found in

The Los Angeles Riots Essays
The Los Angeles Riots
Though sparked by the Rodney King verdict, there were many other causes of the riots that erupted on
the streets of Los Angeles on April 29, 1992. The Los Angeles riots in 1992 were devastating. The
obvious issue portrayed through the media was black versus white. If you did not live in Los Angeles
or California chances are you did not hear full coverage of the story, you heard a simple cut and dry
portrayal of the events in South Central. If you heard one thing about the riots, it was that there was a

The McCone Commission found that poverty, racial divisions and other social conditions helped
trigger the violence (Pope). However, after the commissions report, interest in the Watts riots faded
and adequate action was not taken to address these issues in the affected areas. At the conclusion of its
investigation, the McCone Commission cited that so serious and so explosive is the situation that,
unless it is unchecked, the August riots may seem by comparison to be only a curtain raiser for what
could blow up one day in the future (Pope). Although the city has changed in those years since the
Watts riots, unfortunately, much has remained the same. This confession by the McCone Commission
proved to be prophetical. The Watts riots left 34 dead and 600 buildings damaged or destroyed. The 92
riots caused 52 fatalities, and more than 1,200 buildings were damaged or destroyed. An anonymous
man from Hollywood made a similar statement in 92 after the riots. He stated, the verdict was just the
spark this (the riots) had been set for years before (Smith).

of these sub cities themselves are not unified. Due to their size, all

Use Of Effective And Efficient Communication
Clinical Question In the clinical health care setting, health care professionals such as nurses, use
effective communication tools such as handoffs and bedside reporting. Handoffs has been the main
known communication method used to transfer critical information that leads to a continuity of care
and safety for the patient. Bedside reporting allows the oncoming nurse to physically see the patient,
allowing questions to be asked and participation. Effective and efficient communication has been the
main focus of many research studies that observe, analyze and evaluate the methods like bedside
reporting and handoffs. The main question is: Does one method improve patient care and safety over
the other?
Significance of Problem
As the health care field has evolved over the years, ineffective handoffs may pose a potential risk in
patient care and safety which may include wrong placement surgery, medication errors or patient
death (Friesen, White Byers, 2008). It has been done traditionally at the nurse s station and research
has displayed that uneventful episodes or accidents were more likely to occur during the shift report
(Ofori Atta, 2015).
Purpose of Paper In this paper, Appraising the Evidence: Bedside Report Vs. Handoff , the main focus
is to interpret two articles that undergoes research for bedside reporting and handoff and if one method
improves patient safety and outcome over the other. Interpreting of these articles will like at the

Rna Interference Regulates Gene Expression
Chapter 1: Introduction
1.1 RNA interference regulates gene expression in eukaryotes
The flow of genetic information within a living organism was first stated by Crick as DNA makes
RNA and RNA makes protein (Crick 1956). In response to environmental stimuli, the dynamic
modulation of specific gene products (mRNAs and proteins) confers flexibility and adaptability to
prokaryotes, eukaryotes, and viruses (Crick 1956). Proper gene regulation is essential for cell growth,
development, proliferation, and differentiation, which also lead to the creation of distinct cell types
and cell cycle stages that share the same genome but exhibit different gene expression profiles (Chen
and Rajewsky 2007). The increase or decrease of a certain gene ... Show more content on

1998). Interestingly, the phenomenon that the introduction of double stranded RNAs quelled the
expression of endogenous genes contain homologous sequences had been observed and even utilized
as a tool to knock down gene expression by researchers long before the underlying RNAi mechanism
was identified and separated from the antisense silencing by Fire and Mello in 1998 (Fire et al. 1998).
They consistently found that the introduction of double stranded RNAs (dsRNAs) was 100 or more
folds effective than the single stranded sense or antisense RNAs (ssRNA) to silence the complement
gene expression (Fire et al. 1998; Kennerdell and Carthew 1998). Moreover, the dsRNA mediated
gene silencing can be transferred between adjacent cells, and even inherited through multiple rounds
of cell division (Fire et al. 1998). Therefore, it is proposed that this so called RNA interference is an
inheritable and transferrable process that involves a catalytic process, which differs from the
previously known antisense silencing that ssRNAs directly bind to the complement mRNA targets to
repress translation by blocking ribosome access. Subsequently, Tuschl and co workers demonstrated
that RNAi mechanism exists in mammalian cell lines for the introduction of synthetic

Domestication In The Americas Essay
Moving away from Eastern Asia, it is now time to focus on the development of agriculture of the
Americas. In a similar way as to what happen in China, agriculture originated independently in three
different areas: Mesoamerica, the Andean region in South America and eastern, mid continental North
America. The earliest evidence for domesticates so far comes from archaeobotanical remains found in
caves, in all three origin centres. These remains are usually recovered in a state of remarkably good
preservation, as a result of the dry climate that prevents the decay of organic materials. The caves in
which these remains are discovered, usually also display evidence for the presence of small groups of

Essay On NASA Twin Study
NASA Using Analytic to Analyze its Twin Study
The recent NASA Twin Study could be categorized as your typically Nature vs. Nurture studies that
observe twins in different environments to determine which one the two factors supersede the
other...genetics or environment (Powell, 2015)? The Nature vs. Nurture debate has been traced back to
13th Century France. The answer to this historical debate has yet to be discovered; nevertheless, most
scientists can agree that both of these factors do a play a part in growth even though that specific part
is unidentified (Powell, 2015).
In NASA s twin study, the two chosen environments to separate the twins were earth and space. Yes,
outer space! That once unreachable environment before July 20, 1969, when Astronaut Neil Alden
Armstrong was the first man to walk on the moon (Williams, 2005). Since 1969 and with the
advancement of technologies, NASA continues to study space to understand its mystery characteristics
because society is even more fascinated about the world beyond its reached. I believe that some

Communication Is A Key Element For The Success Of The...
In a group, communication is a key element that contributes to the success of the group. Without
communication between group members, the tasks will not be fulfilled. This is why communication
was an important aspect in our team.
There were several forms of communication used throughout our project. Some included
communicating in person as well as communicating after class. However, when we began to work on
the interview portion of the assignment, we were all very busy and could no longer meet face to face.
This is when we decided to keep in touch through technology for future references. We did so by
communicating through an app called Groupme. By utilizing this app, we were able to control,
organize, and plan for all of the tasks required.
Another form of communication that we used during this time was Google Docs. Google Docs
allowed us to examine, edit, and comment on each other s assigned portion of the assignment. It was
extremely convenient and effortless to use. This is how we conclusively agreed on the final
submission of assignment.Overall, the communication within our team was efficient and successful.
II. Group Decision Making:
In our group, we wanted to make sure everyone s ideas and opinions were acknowledged. Since there
were five group members, we were able to avoid dilemmas because all of the decisions were based on
majority rule. In the case of a group member not being present during discussion hours, the group
leader would then make the final

Women s Property Rights
Throughout history, whether women had property rights was a significant indicator of women s status.
Women who had property rights were able to distinguish their own property from those of her husband
s and were able to create a separate property inheritance line. This gave space for women to have their
own heir and thus giving them more power. Women s status had declined throughout medieval Japan
because property rights were taken away from them. Women were no longer independent and were
restricted in many ways. However, despite the fact that women were not able to inherit property, some
women were still able to have power managing the properties. The property rights of women of
warrior status changed drastically. The establishment of the house system during the later Kamakura
period took away power from women. In the early Kamakura period women as daughters were able to
inherit freely just as sons. Tonomura provides an example in her article that, In the early Kamakura
period, daughter had as good a chance of being included in the division of family property as did sons,
to the extent that a father would grant land with the stewardship title to Nagaharume [daughter] s child
in her womb, whose sex is unknown (Tonomura 1990). Daughters were not treated differently in

Hopkins University, Watson and Rayner s goal was to condition certain phobias into a perfectly
normal child. Watson was testing Pavlov s theory on humans, not dogs. They chose a nine month old
baby who they called Albert, or Little Albert. Watson tested Albert with a white rat, a white rabbit, a
monkey, a variety of mask, and burning newspaper. This was the neutral stimulus because he showed
no fear when presented with these objects. Then he was placed on a mattress with a rat. When he
would touch the rat Watson would hit a piece of steel with a hammer. This was the unconditional
stimulus. Albert would roll over and cry, now in fear of the rat. He would later be placed on the

Egypt ABSTRACT
Rice is one of the most important food crops for more than half of the world s population, the rice
weevil, Sitophilus oryzae (L.) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) is a major pest of stored rice in Egypt. The
use of nanoparticles as pesticide could be promising alternative strategy to affect pests which have
become resistant to pesticides. Two nano materials nano aluminum oxide and nano zinc oxide were
tested against rice weevil under laboratory and store conditions. Nano aluminum oxide was found to
be highly effective against S. oryzae, while nano zinc oxide has lowered effectiveness against the
weevil.
Results showed that mortality percentage of S. oryzae were 65.34 ± 8.9 and
58.58 ± 8.3 after treatment with 0.5 gm / kg, 100.00± 9.6 and 81.81 ± 4.2 with
1 gm / kg. The mortality scored with 2 gm / kg 100.0 ± 0.0 and 80.80 ± 2.3 after 14 days of treatment
with nano aluminum oxide and nano zinc oxide, respectively as compared to 0.0 ± 0.0 in the control

When you first step on that brightly lit field, immediately you are put on sensory overload. The
mixture of the lights and the dull screams from the crowd resonate in the back of your mind and do
not completely leave you until after the game is long finished. Normally, you are standing on the
outside of the field in the student section, instead of out on the turf. This year that is not the case. You

Cats Make the Perfect Pet

Cats make the perfect pet I have heard the old saying that dogs are man s best friend. I don t know
much about dogs, but I do know a lot about cats. I have had a cat as a pet for at least 30 years. They
are wonderful and I know I will always have one in my life. I think cats make the perfect pet because
they are self sufficient, intelligent, and good companions. The first reason I think that cats make the
perfect pet is because they are self sufficient. Cats can take care of themselves. When we take cats into
our homes as pets, they don t require much attention. Another good example of why cats are self

Cats also make good companions because they like to curl up next to us for a good long nap, and there
is no better sleeping partner than a cat. Cats don t care what we look like, they don t expect anything
in return, and they will always keep our feet warm! Another example of why a cat makes a good
companion is because at the end of the day they will not come running up to us at the door and lick us
to death like a dog. They are just glad to see us. A meow and a flip of the tail is all that is needed to
say hello. One more reason cats make good companions is because they can live long lives. If they are
taken care of properly it is not uncommon for them to live into their teens or twenties. Also cats are
good companions because they are soft and cuddly and easy to love. When looking for a good
companion, a cat will make a wonderful choice and a lifelong friend. My love for cats goes back a
long time. In a few years I will probably become the crazy cat lady. Cats are independent and self
sufficient. They are very intelligent animals and they make good companions. I think these things

Retread Rubber Market Analysis
RETREAD RUBBER MARKET ANALYSIS
Introduction
1. In the manufacture of a new tyre, about 75% of the manufacturing cost is incurred in Tyre Casing
and remaining 25% in the Tread (The portion of the tyre which meets the road surface).Hence, by
applying a new Tread over the body of the worn out tyre, a fresh lease of life is given to the tyre, at a
cost which is less than 30% of the price of a new tyre. This process is termed as Tyre retreading and
the materials used for process are known as Retread Materials.

6. Buffing equipment also made tremendous advances. Up until this time, buffing was done either by
using a hand held rasp and rotating the tire a section at a time or by using a rasp wheel on a pedestal
and placing the tirearound the worker s waist. 7. In 1934 and 1935, 35 major tire companies entered
the retreading industry in the world. Federal and state governments of Unite States experimented with
retreads on trucks and official cars while private truck and bus fleets as well as individual motorists
purchased them. By the end of the decade retreads accounted for 5 percent of the replacement
passenger tire market and 20 percent of the replacement truck tire market
8. Synthetic rubber was invented to replace natural rubber and was used domestically in retread tread
stock. Between 1942 and 1944 the retreading industry expanded 500 percent. Retreads met virtually
all civilian passenger tire needs, since sales of new tires and tubes were strictly rationed during world
war II.
9. The armed forces in US relied greatly on retreading and repairing, sponsored research and
published numerous guidelines for proper repair and retread procedures. Unfortunately, the first
synthetic rubber used during war time had poor adhesion qualities that resulted in a large percentage
of tread separations. Memories of these retread failures still haunt the

What Is The Purpose Of Queen Victoria
The daughter of Edward, the Duke of Kent (and fourth son of King George III) and German Princess
Victoire of Leiningen or better known as Queen Victoria rule from 1837 to 1901. She was one of the
longest ruling monarch in Britain s history (Queen Victoria). Queen Victoria was criticized and
satirized by Lewis Caroll as the tyrannical and despotic queen of Wonderland, The Queen of Heart in
Alice s Adventure in Wonderland. She is first seen when Alice arrives in the Queen of Heart s garden.

Caroll also hints that Queen Victoria is most likely to convict an innocent man or woman to prison due
her inability to judge and give the correct punishment as she is often sway by her emotions. The
author further juxtaposes Queen Victorian and The Queen of Hearts by accentuating the fact that
Queen Victoria is ruthless and vicious when it pertains to punishments. Not only Queen Victoria is
known for her overbearing attitude, she can juxtapose due to her love for punishment and judging a
crime unfairly just like the Queen of Hearts. You may go, said the King, to the Hatter hurriedly left the
court, without even waiting to put his shoes on and just take his head off outside, the Queen added to
one of the officers (Through the Looking Glass 102). Caroll uses the Queen of Hearts to satirises
Queen Victoria because Caroll would have find her ridiculous with her flaws that makes her
incompetent as a Queen. All in all, Queen of Hearts is a character that is parallel to Queen Victoria to

The Negative Effects Of Media In The Media
In today s modern social and public media children can come across many different forms of
unwanted profanity and bad practices. As this becomes more and more prevalent children are slowly
becoming more and more accustomed to hearing and seeing profane things. Children are being
impacted in a negative way when crossing negative and profane media. This media can lead to
children developing a sense of fear, lack of respect towards their piers and others around them, and a
desensitizing of emotions and thoughts. These days its pretty hard not to come across content in media
that can be offensive and or profane. This is partly due to the fact that movie and media rating
companies are becoming more and more lenient with what content is considered non profane and what
is. For example, Kimberly M. Thompson and Fumie Yokota found in their research of the correlation
between movie rating and profanity and violence saying, The MPAA mentioned alcohol or drugs in its
rating reason for 18% of films, while Screen It! assigned a score above none for tobacco and/or
alcohol/drugs for 95% of films and above none for alcohol/drugs for 93%... This shows that more and
more movies and shows are staring to include this profane content and are still being classified as PG
or PG 13. Another study referenced in Chandra Johnson s article about Kids and swear words: Can
profanity in media hurt? referenced a study by VidAngle saying, from the first swear word on film
(1939 s Gone with the Wind ) to 2013 s The Wolf of Wall Street, which holds the record with 798
swearwords an increase of 500 percent over 74 years.... This shows that swear words and profanity are
being included more and more in movies and media. We instead need to include versions of movies
that are censored and child family friendly. Having this decrease in profanity standards means that
children are going to be exposed to profanity at a much faster rate. This will increase the rate at which
children are affected and can lead to the negative affects listed above.
Having children become fearful, disrespectful, and desensitized when it comes to emotion will lead to
social and economic issues later down in their lives. For example, Rupal Patel (a child

government total control of its industry and the economy and all people have equal social and
economic status. These two types of economic systems each have a different effect on the economy of
the nations and its people.
Capitalism is the system in which we live in, where businesses are privately owned and operated for
profit and where people can buy and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To get higher profits companies will need to seek out new ways of making a good more cheaply or
look for a new way to manufacture it s this competition that leads to the production of better goods at
lower prices this is called Mass production. Also by removing all limitations and regulations, every
ones self interests would fuel the economy s growth. While in government plays a small role in
capitalism it allows its citizens some Individual freedom like Freedom of Speech, Freedom of
Religion, Freedom of Choice, Freedom of Assembly and Freedom of the Press. Because of this
Entrepreneurs have the ability can risk their own money in the market economy. Entrepreneurs are
people take a risk by investing their money in a business venture.
Communism has an opposite way of achieving the needs of its people like Adam Smiths Wealth of
Nations Karl Marx a 9th century philosopher and political economist addressed a wide range of
political and social issues the Communist Manifesto. By having a Communist economy, the
government can have total control of industry and keep production of goods from competing with one
another and make everyone work for the good of the society. By doing this competition,
unemployment, and poverty would be eliminated. All good and services would be distributed
according to people s needs as a result food and clothes would cost less. Through this system,
Communist workers standard of living would be raised because many benefits can be provided

Why Do Liquids Evaporate At Different Rates
The purpose of this lab investigation is to determine why liquids evaporate at different rates. The Lab
manual defines rate of evaporation (ºC/s) as temperature change divided by the amount of time taken
to reach the lowest temperature. Factors such as the intermolecular forces (IMFs) of a molecule
determine the rate of evaporation. Observing the rate of evaporation allows one to figure out the IMFs
of a liquid. IMFs are the attraction of molecules, by which physical properties of a liquid are
determined. There are three main types of IMFs: London dispersion forces, dipole dipole, and
hydrogen boding. London dispersion forces are the weakest IMFs due to unequal electrons and consist
of a temporary dipole. Dipole dipole forces are attractions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The data table of IMFs of a liquid (below) display the strength of each substance. Methanol, Ethanol,
Propanol, Butanol, and Water were all hydrogen bonding, while Acetone was dipole dipole, and
Pentane was London dispersion. The rate of evaporation table shows that all the hydrogen bonding
liquids had the lowest rates of evaporation, except for Methanol whose rate was 0.113 ºC/s. This data
corresponds with the notion that stronger IMFs have slower rates of evaporation, due to more energy
and time needed to break their strong bonds. On the other hand, when a molecule lacks highly
electronegative atoms, that molecule will have a faster rate of evaporation due to its inability to attract
bonds. Pentane doesn t have any highly electronegative atoms; therefore, it was justified as to why it
had the fastest evaporation rate. Observing the bar graph below, the liquids increased (slowest to
fastest) in rate of evaporation from Butanol Propanol Water Ethanol Methanol Acetone Pentane. In
that same order, the liquids also increased from strongest to weakest IMFs. Lastly, reviewing other
groups data resulted in similar findings. Other groups had Butanol as the slowest and Pentane as the
fastest rate of

Effects Of Global Warming On The Environment And The...
The impacts of increased greenhouse gas admission are evident through the rising global
temperatures, causing extreme natural disasters and expanding sea levels. Anthropogenic climate
change refers to the production of greenhouse gases emitted into the earth s atmosphere as a result of
human expansion and activity. According to research conducted by The National Aeronautics and
Space Administration, Goddard Institute for Space Studies (NASA, 2016) the average global
temperature of the Earth has risen 0.87 degrees Celsius from 1880 to 2016, the highest temperature
rise recorded to date, as a result of heightened greenhouse gas admissions. It is essential to identify the
causes of anthropogenic climate change and recognize the significant negative impact it is having on
the global environment and the population.
The increased release of carbon dioxide (CO2) through human activity is a major contributing factor
to global warming. The human race contributes to the issue of climate change through the burning of
fossil fuels and deforestation. These activities release vast amounts of CO2 into the atmosphere, which
have caused the earth s temperature to rise (Society, 2016). This process is known as the Greenhouse
gas effect , in which heat from the earth is trapped in the atmosphere by gases, such as CO2, causing
the surface of the earth to warm. (Environment.gov.au, 2016). One of the main ways humans emit
fossil fuels into the atmosphere is through industrial operations.

The Space Race Between America And Russia
From the beginning of time, people have been curious about space but could not figure out how to get
there. Up until the late 1900 s people were not able to send anything up in space. But this changed
when the Soviet Union sent up the first satellite, and then, the space race between America and Russia
began! Many animals were sent up in space including dogs, rats, rabbits, and even chimpanzees. One
famous chimpanzee named Ham was sent up and paved the way for other astronauts to go up in space.
Ham s background, his expedition to space, and the design of the Mercury Redstone rocket caused
more people to want to travel in space. It is hard to believe that a chimpanzee could go up into space.
This chimp was born on July 1957, in the French Camaroon, West Africa. Ham was only 3 years old
and weighed 37 pounds when he was chosen to go to space. He was picked because he had a sweet
attitude and was intelligent. This chimp was named Ham after the lab Holloman Aerospace Medical
Center, which was in New Mexico. As soon as the mission was done, Ham lived by himself in the
Washington Zoo from 1963 to September 25, 1980. Sadly, on January 17, 1983, Ham died at North
Carolina Zoological Park in Asheboro. When he died, they placed his skeleton into the Armed Forces
Institute of Pathology for further research. His other body parts were buried near the International
Space Hall of Fame in Alamogordo, New Mexico. Even though Ham was just a chimpanzee, he was
able to learn how to do

  • 2. Relationship of Societal Institutions and the Concept of... Pierre Bourdieu is a French sociologist who presents a focus on the relationship of societal institutions and the concept of habitus. Habitus is simply the socially structured norms that influence individuals in order to direct the ideas and behaviors that make them who they are. With this, habitus does not allow individuals to possess complete freedom of their thoughts and perceptions. The individual s expressions, judgments, thoughts, perceptions, and behaviors are all reflective of societal structures such as, class, gender, politics, and education which are then reproduced by their actions. These common practices and perceptions are formed by one s history and can be modified over time through different lifestyles and unexpected conditions such as education, age, or becoming a parent. This means that individuals will not have a habitus identical to another individual. Lastly, people s everyday activities and tastes exist in relation to the people around them and that habitus is essential to controlling aspects of individual s social lives (Johnson 2006). Bourdieu s concept of habitus is evident through his articles, Distinction and Cultural Reproduction and Social Reproduction and can also be demonstrated in Shamus Kahn s book, Privilege. Bourdieu s article, Distinction exemplifies this idea of habitus and the effect of institutions on social and cultural patterns. He demonstrates how these institutions instill a social order into people s thoughts and everyday ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Petruchio Monologue Studying The Taming of the Shrew through performance led me to understand the power of language and importance of speech. [The play was a comedy, so I had a lot of fun with Petruchio s outspoken character and exaggerated persona. In order to perform as him, I needed to understand his underlying motivations.] Petruchio is defined by two motivations: wealth and dominance. His main motive to wed Katharina is to gain wealth, for the dowry he will receive once they are married. This is shown by his emphasis and haste to ask for the dowry when he first meets Katharina s father. He asks, Then tell me, if I get you daughter s love, / What dowry shall I have with her to wife ( )? Baptista responds, After me death the one half of my lands, / And in ... For instance, when Katharina calls him a nice stool, Petruchio responds with Thou hast hit it: come sit on me (2.1.209). His quick response with a sexual innuendo shows his imperviousness to her insults. That is why I chose to say this conceited and loud to show that he is pleased about his swift counter Katharina s biting remarks. At the end of the encounter between Katharina and Petruchio, Petruchio ends with a speech declaring that they will be married, no matter how much she opposes it or defies him. He says in his monologue, For I am he am born to tame you Kate, / And bring you from a wild Kate to a Kate / Conformable as other household Kates (2.1.291 293). Here, Petruchio is seen as declaring control Katharina. That is why I chose to say this in an assertive manner, staring directly into the eyes of Nabiha, who was acting as Katharina, while slowly and confidently walking towards her, backing her into a corner. I emphasized wild and conformable to convey the dominating role of Petruchio. This also foreshadows the alarming lengths he later goes to impose dominance over ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The outer massive concrete wall was curved to deflect the wind above it. All around the city, except for a gap to let ships through, would be a line of sausage shaped canisters. These would be positioned at some distance from the wall, and being part filled with water, would float low in the sea. These were designed to break the large waves coming towards the sea. Oceania: The Atlantis Project Appropriately named Oceania, this new country is expected to be built off the coast of Panama, 50 miles due east. Oceania will utilize ocean pontoon floating technology, similar to that used by the Saigon Floating Hotel, off the coast of Saigon, Vietnam, which was designed by Sten Sjostrand. This country will be devoted to the value of freedom, and will first exist as a sea city in the Caribbean. Mike Oliver and Eric Klein were the founders of the Alantis Project. They visualized a country where there would be no taxes. It would be a haven for free thought and free enterprise. They imagined a place where one could invest or run his business without the interference of government bureaucrats and tax extortionists. The only people one needed to answer to would be ones customers and contractors. The architect of the project, Sten Sjostrand designed the city taking the hexagon as a module. Some of these injuries may include broken bones, spinal injuries and concussions. High school football accounts for forty seven percent of all reported sports concussions(headcasecompany.com). A concussion, also known as mild traumatic brain injury (MTBI), is a brain injury caused by a blow to the head or a violent shaking of the head or body. Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) is a degenerative disease of the brain and is associated with repeated head traumas like concussions (CNN.com). Brain injuries cause more deaths in sports than any other injury. If we want to continue the sport of football in our youth and young teens, we need to have ways to prevent head injuries. Some ways of preventing head injuries would be different helmet designs, better tackling techniques or less contact time in practices. The Strib piece, is about Wally Hilgenberg, the former Minnesota Vikings linebacker who died in 2008 at age 66. He had been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), but a brain analysis after his death has led a group of Boston scientists to conclude his symptoms were more likely the result of repeated trauma to his head (Kaszuba). It can make a person or break a person, but for me it made me so much stronger. I can truly say I have accomplished much more since getting out of a foreclosure scam at a very young age of 16. Throughout that hard time I just continued to not only motivate myself, but my mother because I understand getting something taken away from you that you have worked hard for can destroy a good person. This is what happened to my family and I, and what we did to overcome it. April 1, 2007 we got the phone call stating we had finally been approved to move into our first family home after 13 years. This lady sat at our dining room table talking to me and my mother about how we were going to sue the man who leased us this home because he was not the full owner of the house. He had some privileges to the home but only financially. We stopped paying our monthly bill for 3 months because foreclosure on the home would mean a immediate termination of our contract. The owner of the home also told us she came because the mortgage on the home had not been paid since May. So not only was the partial owner of the home not informing us of his financial problem but he did not pay the mortgage company the money we gave him and still to this day we do not know where our money is. We soon heard from him around Christmas time but not about the foreclosure. The conversation revolved around if he didn t get his money what he would do to my family. We were threatened mentally and physically to the point that we changed the locks and immediately started looking for another home. We found out the situation we were in was a scam because we did some research and noticed that we were not the first person he had approached with the same offer but also who lost all of their money in the same home the same way we were. You are nothing more than a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Donald Justice wrote a poem called Incident in a Rose Garden, showing readers the true fact that life is nothing more than a vapor. It evaporates almost as quickly as it is made. However, there is beauty in it as well as surprise. He portrays this theme throughout the poem by using contrast and irony. Furthermore, there are many people that are scared of death and for good reasons. Although death is final and cannot be undone, it is a beautiful thing. Mr. Justice shows this by using the literary device of contrast. During the poem, Death is amid the rose gardens. When people think of roses, they usually think of ... This is apparent in his sudden push to see family and foreign places. Even though Death is not coming for the Gardener, it was an important lesson that the Gardener learns. Many people believe that they will never die or that they deserve to live forever. When, in fact, no one is owed life and no one should have a sense of entitlement. In the poem, the master addresses death: Sir, you must be that stranger/ Who threatened my gardener./ This is my property, sir (Justice 16 18). Use Of Effective And Efficient Communication Clinical Question In the clinical health care setting, health care professionals such as nurses, use effective communication tools such as handoffs and bedside reporting. Handoffs has been the main known communication method used to transfer critical information that leads to a continuity of care and safety for the patient. Bedside reporting allows the oncoming nurse to physically see the patient, allowing questions to be asked and participation. Effective and efficient communication has been the main focus of many research studies that observe, analyze and evaluate the methods like bedside reporting and handoffs. The main question is: Does one method improve patient care and safety over the other? Significance of Problem As the health care field has evolved over the years, ineffective handoffs may pose a potential risk in patient care and safety which may include wrong placement surgery, medication errors or patient death (Friesen, White Byers, 2008). Rna Interference Regulates Gene Expression Chapter 1: Introduction 1.1 RNA interference regulates gene expression in eukaryotes The flow of genetic information within a living organism was first stated by Crick as DNA makes RNA and RNA makes protein (Crick 1956). In response to environmental stimuli, the dynamic modulation of specific gene products (mRNAs and proteins) confers flexibility and adaptability to prokaryotes, eukaryotes, and viruses (Crick 1956). Proper gene regulation is essential for cell growth, development, proliferation, and differentiation, which also lead to the creation of distinct cell types and cell cycle stages that share the same genome but exhibit different gene expression profiles (Chen and Rajewsky 2007). Interestingly, the phenomenon that the introduction of double stranded RNAs quelled the expression of endogenous genes contain homologous sequences had been observed and even utilized as a tool to knock down gene expression by researchers long before the underlying RNAi mechanism was identified and separated from the antisense silencing by Fire and Mello in 1998 (Fire et al. 1998). They consistently found that the introduction of double stranded RNAs (dsRNAs) was 100 or more folds effective than the single stranded sense or antisense RNAs (ssRNA) to silence the complement gene expression (Fire et al. 1998; Kennerdell and Carthew 1998). Moreover, the dsRNA mediated gene silencing can be transferred between adjacent cells, and even inherited through multiple rounds of cell division (Fire et al. 1998). Therefore, it is proposed that this so called RNA interference is an inheritable and transferrable process that involves a catalytic process, which differs from the previously known antisense silencing that ssRNAs directly bind to the complement mRNA targets to repress translation by blocking ribosome access. In a similar way as to what happen in China, agriculture originated independently in three different areas: Mesoamerica, the Andean region in South America and eastern, mid continental North America. The earliest evidence for domesticates so far comes from archaeobotanical remains found in caves, in all three origin centres. These remains are usually recovered in a state of remarkably good preservation, as a result of the dry climate that prevents the decay of organic materials. The caves in which these remains are discovered, usually also display evidence for the presence of small groups of hunter gatherers. These particular aspects led researchers to suggest that the domestication process in the Americas was initiated by nomadic or seminomadic groups of people, possibly in a higher setting, although this theory is now being questioned by new lines of evidence (Smith, 1994: 174). ... For example, people in southwestern United Stated maintained species such as beans (Phaseolus vulgaris), squash (Cucurbita pepo ssp. pepo), and sunflower (Helianthus annuus var. macrocarpus) as important components of their diets, even after the establishment of maize as a staple ... Without communication between group members, the tasks will not be fulfilled. This is why communication was an important aspect in our team. There were several forms of communication used throughout our project. Some included communicating in person as well as communicating after class. However, when we began to work on the interview portion of the assignment, we were all very busy and could no longer meet face to face. This is when we decided to keep in touch through technology for future references. We did so by communicating through an app called Groupme. By utilizing this app, we were able to control, organize, and plan for all of the tasks required. Another form of communication that we used during this time was Google Docs. Google Docs allowed us to examine, edit, and comment on each other s assigned portion of the assignment. It was extremely convenient and effortless to use. This is how we conclusively agreed on the final submission of assignment.Overall, the communication within our team was efficient and successful. II. • 24. Women s Property Rights Throughout history, whether women had property rights was a significant indicator of women s status. Women who had property rights were able to distinguish their own property from those of her husband s and were able to create a separate property inheritance line. This gave space for women to have their own heir and thus giving them more power. Women s status had declined throughout medieval Japan because property rights were taken away from them. Women were no longer independent and were restricted in many ways. However, despite the fact that women were not able to inherit property, some women were still able to have power managing the properties. The property rights of women of warrior status changed drastically. The establishment of the house system during the later Kamakura period took away power from women. In the early Kamakura period women as daughters were able to inherit freely just as sons. Tonomura provides an example in her article that, In the early Kamakura period, daughter had as good a chance of being included in the division of family property as did sons, to the extent that a father would grant land with the stewardship title to Nagaharume [daughter] s child in her womb, whose sex is unknown (Tonomura 1990). • 37. The Negative Effects Of Media In The Media In today s modern social and public media children can come across many different forms of unwanted profanity and bad practices. As this becomes more and more prevalent children are slowly becoming more and more accustomed to hearing and seeing profane things. Children are being impacted in a negative way when crossing negative and profane media. This media can lead to children developing a sense of fear, lack of respect towards their piers and others around them, and a desensitizing of emotions and thoughts. These days its pretty hard not to come across content in media that can be offensive and or profane. This is partly due to the fact that movie and media rating companies are becoming more and more lenient with what content is considered non profane and what is. For example, Kimberly M. Thompson and Fumie Yokota found in their research of the correlation between movie rating and profanity and violence saying, The MPAA mentioned alcohol or drugs in its rating reason for 18% of films, while Screen It! assigned a score above none for tobacco and/or alcohol/drugs for 95% of films and above none for alcohol/drugs for 93%... This shows that more and more movies and shows are staring to include this profane content and are still being classified as PG or PG 13. Another study referenced in Chandra Johnson s article about Kids and swear words: Can profanity in media hurt? referenced a study by VidAngle saying, from the first swear word on film (1939 s Gone with the Wind ) to 2013 s The Wolf of Wall Street, which holds the record with 798 swearwords an increase of 500 percent over 74 years.... This shows that swear words and profanity are being included more and more in movies and media. We instead need to include versions of movies that are censored and child family friendly. Having this decrease in profanity standards means that children are going to be exposed to profanity at a much faster rate. This will increase the rate at which children are affected and can lead to the negative affects listed above. Having children become fearful, disrespectful, and desensitized when it comes to emotion will lead to social and economic issues later down in their lives. For example, Rupal Patel (a child ... To get higher profits companies will need to seek out new ways of making a good more cheaply or look for a new way to manufacture it s this competition that leads to the production of better goods at lower prices this is called Mass production. Also by removing all limitations and regulations, every ones self interests would fuel the economy s growth. While in government plays a small role in capitalism it allows its citizens some Individual freedom like Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Religion, Freedom of Choice, Freedom of Assembly and Freedom of the Press. Because of this Entrepreneurs have the ability can risk their own money in the market economy. Entrepreneurs are people take a risk by investing their money in a business venture. Communism has an opposite way of achieving the needs of its people like Adam Smiths Wealth of Nations Karl Marx a 9th century philosopher and political economist addressed a wide range of political and social issues the Communist Manifesto. By having a Communist economy, the government can have total control of industry and keep production of goods from competing with one another and make everyone work for the good of the society. By doing this competition, unemployment, and poverty would be eliminated. All good and services would be distributed according to people s needs as a result food and clothes would cost less. Through this system, Communist workers standard of living would be raised because many benefits can be provided ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Why Do Liquids Evaporate At Different Rates The purpose of this lab investigation is to determine why liquids evaporate at different rates. The Lab manual defines rate of evaporation (ºC/s) as temperature change divided by the amount of time taken to reach the lowest temperature. Factors such as the intermolecular forces (IMFs) of a molecule determine the rate of evaporation. Observing the rate of evaporation allows one to figure out the IMFs of a liquid. IMFs are the attraction of molecules, by which physical properties of a liquid are determined. There are three main types of IMFs: London dispersion forces, dipole dipole, and hydrogen boding. London dispersion forces are the weakest IMFs due to unequal electrons and consist of a temporary dipole. Dipole dipole forces are attractions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The data table of IMFs of a liquid (below) display the strength of each substance. Methanol, Ethanol, Propanol, Butanol, and Water were all hydrogen bonding, while Acetone was dipole dipole, and Pentane was London dispersion. The rate of evaporation table shows that all the hydrogen bonding liquids had the lowest rates of evaporation, except for Methanol whose rate was 0.113 ºC/s. This data corresponds with the notion that stronger IMFs have slower rates of evaporation, due to more energy and time needed to break their strong bonds. On the other hand, when a molecule lacks highly electronegative atoms, that molecule will have a faster rate of evaporation due to its inability to attract bonds. Pentane doesn t have any highly electronegative atoms; therefore, it was justified as to why it had the fastest evaporation rate. Observing the bar graph below, the liquids increased (slowest to fastest) in rate of evaporation from Butanol Propanol Water Ethanol Methanol Acetone Pentane. In that same order, the liquids also increased from strongest to weakest IMFs. Lastly, reviewing other groups data resulted in similar findings. Other groups had Butanol as the slowest and Pentane as the fastest rate of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Effects Of Global Warming On The Environment And The... The impacts of increased greenhouse gas admission are evident through the rising global temperatures, causing extreme natural disasters and expanding sea levels. Anthropogenic climate change refers to the production of greenhouse gases emitted into the earth s atmosphere as a result of human expansion and activity. According to research conducted by The National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Goddard Institute for Space Studies (NASA, 2016) the average global temperature of the Earth has risen 0.87 degrees Celsius from 1880 to 2016, the highest temperature rise recorded to date, as a result of heightened greenhouse gas admissions. It is essential to identify the causes of anthropogenic climate change and recognize the significant negative impact it is having on the global environment and the population. The increased release of carbon dioxide (CO2) through human activity is a major contributing factor to global warming. The human race contributes to the issue of climate change through the burning of fossil fuels and deforestation. These activities release vast amounts of CO2 into the atmosphere, which have caused the earth s temperature to rise (Society, 2016). This process is known as the Greenhouse gas effect , in which heat from the earth is trapped in the atmosphere by gases, such as CO2, causing the surface of the earth to warm. (Environment.gov.au, 2016). One of the main ways humans emit fossil fuels into the atmosphere is through industrial operations. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. The Space Race Between America And Russia From the beginning of time, people have been curious about space but could not figure out how to get there. Up until the late 1900 s people were not able to send anything up in space. But this changed when the Soviet Union sent up the first satellite, and then, the space race between America and Russia began! Many animals were sent up in space including dogs, rats, rabbits, and even chimpanzees. One famous chimpanzee named Ham was sent up and paved the way for other astronauts to go up in space. Ham s background, his expedition to space, and the design of the Mercury Redstone rocket caused more people to want to travel in space. It is hard to believe that a chimpanzee could go up into space. This chimp was born on July 1957, in the French Camaroon, West Africa. Ham was only 3 years old and weighed 37 pounds when he was chosen to go to space. He was picked because he had a sweet attitude and was intelligent. This chimp was named Ham after the lab Holloman Aerospace Medical Center, which was in New Mexico. As soon as the mission was done, Ham lived by himself in the Washington Zoo from 1963 to September 25, 1980. Sadly, on January 17, 1983, Ham died at North Carolina Zoological Park in Asheboro. When he died, they placed his skeleton into the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology for further research. His other body parts were buried near the International Space Hall of Fame in Alamogordo, New Mexico. Even though Ham was just a chimpanzee, he was able to learn how to do ...
