Advantages And Disadvantages Of Virtual Reality
Oxford Dictionary defines virtual reality as The computer generated simulation of a three dimensional
image or environment that can be interacted with in a seemingly real or physical way by a person
using special electronic equipment, such as a helmet with a screen inside or gloves fitted with sensors.
Wikipedia says Virtual Reality (VR), which can be referred to as immersive multimedia or computer
simulated life, replicates an environment that simulates physical presence in places in the real world or
imagined worlds. Virtual reality can recreate sensory experiences, which include virtual taste, sight,
smell, sound, and touch.
As with the definition goes,Virtual Reality (VR) in simple way to define I would say it is the use of
computer technology embedded with many different sensors which mimics the natural environment
and make us feel as if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Haptic systems that provide physical feedback or allow a fully articulated presence within an
environment are clumsy and can cause problems during use. The type of hardware that even simple
head mounted displays use can break the sense of immersion as adjustments to the device need to be
made and components such as wires and headphones turn into obstacles to natural movement.Socially,
some of the disadvantages of using virtual reality as entertainment have already started to surface,
even without an experience that fully removes a person from his or her surrounding stimuli. One issue
is social isolation, in which the user of virtual reality relies more on interactions that take place in a
virtual world than on experiences in the real world. This lack of true, physical interaction has the
potential to create incorrect associations that are not part of real social settings. The isolation could
eventually cause depression, disassociation and other conditions, if it is severe

Symptoms And Symptoms Of Schizophrenia
Introduction
Schizophrenia is very complex and startling disorder characterized by a broad range of cognitive and
emotional dysfunctions (Barlow Durand, 2015, p. 477). It can greatly impact a person s life in a
negative manner: affecting physical, emotional, relational, and occupational health. The National
Institute of Mental Health defines schizophrenia as a chronic and severe disorder that affects how a
person, think, feels, and acts (National Institute of Mental Health, n.d., para. 1). It is believed to be
caused by an excess of the neurotransmitter dopamine (Brisch, Saniotis, Wolf, Bielau, Bernstein,
Steiner, ..., Gos, 2014).
Symptomology and Diagnosis
The American Psychiatric Association gives five main symptoms of schizophrenia: delusions,
hallucinations, disorganized speech, disorganized or catatonic behavior, and negative symptoms (5th
ed.; DSM 5; American Psychiatric Association [APA], 2013). Since the presentation of schizophrenia
varies from person to person, only two out of these five symptoms need to be present in order to get a
diagnosis. There are three categories of symptoms that accompany schizophrenia: positive, negative,
and cognitive (Carlson, 2013). The five symptoms above all fit within these three categories. Positive
symptoms occur when something abnormal is present, negative symptoms occur when something
normal is absent, and cognitive symptoms occur when something is abnormally cognitively. When one
has schizophrenia, the symptoms appear as

Examples Of Monty Hall Problem
Bayes Theorem and the Monty Hall Problem Faizan Hasan Introduction The Monty Hall problem is
that has troubled many, including myself when I first heard of it. The Monty Hall problem is based on
a game show from the 1960 s, named Let s Make a Deal, where the host Monty Hall offers a
contestant a choice to choose between three doors. Behind two of which are goats and the other one
contains a very desirable car. He asks the contestant to choose one door where they would assume the
car is. At this point Monty Hall knows what s behind each door. After the contestant has chosen a door
for example lets say the contestant chose door number 1, Monty Hall opens one door which he knows
contains a goat which for now we can assume to be door number 2, he then offers the contestant
whether they want to change their choice to door number 3 or stay with their original choice of door
number 1. It has confused many people about whether they should switch doors or stick to the one
they choose originally, So which one would be the best one to increase the probability for you winning
the car? Rationale ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When I was made to choose which option I would choose to stay or switch doors I said that it would
make no difference, my reasoning behind that was you had one third chance when you first chose a
door to win the car, and once the door containing the goat was opened you had 50/50 chance of
winning the car, as you had two options. However I was then told that the correct decision always was
to switch to the other door if you wanted to maximize your chance at winning the car. To solve this
problem I did some research and discovered the best way to solve the problem is using Bayes
Theorem, as it is the best way to understand the Monty Hall

Social Inequality And Stereotyping Cultures From Political...
EDUC1708 Research Essay Due: 25 August 2014
By: Kody Williamson (s4350274)
Tutor: Dr Joy Kennedy
Youdell (2012) argues that the singular and one off multicultural events reproduce majority/minority,
Same/Other relations in their display of minoritises cultures for the appreciation of or consumption by
the majority. (p 153) This essay will look into the argument of how the one off multicultural events
can be seen as racist, fostering social inequality and stereotyping cultures from political power. It will
also outline how educators with the right strategies and planning can foster valuable cultural
experiences and cultivate socio equality with their students and their school communities.
Multicultural education is the term ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Reynolds, 2012) The schools that are hosting these singular multicultural days do have intent to
inform students of diverse cultures, yet instead are accentuating the already existing social and cultural
hierarchies. (Gorski, 2008)
The way and how to teach multiculturalism in the classroom is a sensitive topic between the many
parties involved. Since multicultural education is primarily a set of beliefs and philosophies (Neito,
1994), it is a very powerful issue especially from socio political perspectives. Wright (2007) argues
that multiculturalism has no pre given destiny nationally or globally, but is continually being renewed
and re contested by political policy actors from their dominating point of view. The power of the
corporate elite demonstrates their need for social in equality through globalization, for the cheap labor
from the poorest countries that accelerate their economic growth. This cycle is what Chosudovsky
(2003) calls the Globalisation of Poverty .
The educational policies in place illustrate this globalisation of poverty when we look at the
legislations and those who write them. In the US, the educational policy is firmly under the thumbs of
these corporate elites in the form of the Business Roundtable, the public education system itself is
becoming a vehicle for socialising citizens into good compliance and complicity. (Chomsky, 2003;
Gabbard, 2003)

Introduction
Negotiating is something that has been around since the beginning of mankind. We all start off
negotiating as little kids, even for little things such as candy and toys. When we grow up, negotiating
becomes sort of the norm. We negotiate consciously and subconsciously every single day. When you
think about it, negotiation takes up most of our lives. We are always trying to see what we can get as a
benefit without giving up much. It always comes down to the pie, how big is the pie and who can get
the biggest slice. As we become adults with careers, there are ever some that become flat our
Negotiators . This means that all they do for a living is negotiate. They are master negotiators and are
praised for being so. When it comes to negotiation, persuasion is also within that talent. You have to
be able to get what you want from people without them feeling like they are being taken advantage of
and that they are also getting just as big a piece of the pie as you are getting, although in reality they
are not. Negotiation Negotiation is all about a strategy. The end result is usually to end a problem that
someone is having, whether it is personally or

Timothy Cooper was just one of the thousands of West Indians who fled to Britain. despite having a
cramped journey, when Timothy saw Britain in sight, his eyes opened and jolted and he thought the
journey had been well worth it. (Information about Timothy cooper taken from Modern Minds the
Twenty first century world.) The black carrabieins expectations were so high that they couldn t even
think of the worst of what could happen.
In June 1948 the SS Empire Windrush had just arrived in Britain. The press and the cinema news reels
gave them a mighty warm welcome. One newparper article from the Manchester Guardian in 23rd
June 1948 said, one of them looked over the unlovely town to the grey green field behond and said, If
this is England, I like it. A good omen perhaps. This article is saying that Britain is not that great, but it
looks great to those who arrive. Members of the public were very discriminating, judgemental, unfair
and racist towards the Afro carrabiens. Violence broke out in Liverpool as soon as 1948. The West
Indains had been attacked by mobs of white people. The new arrivals couldn t understand what was
going on, this was their mother country they called it. The West Indians found it especially hard to

Swot Analysis Of United Airlines
Introduction
The airline industry has been a major factor in the globalization of the world economy. It connects the
sellers and the buyers as well as transports goods across countries. It also breaks the time and distance
barriers. In the past, air travel was considered a luxury but it is now a common necessity.
The Battle Of The Air has been used to describe current situation in the airline industry. The
emergence of No Frills discount carriers such as Air Asia, Mahlindo, Firefly have threatened the
survival of the traditional giants such as MAS, SIA, Thai Airways in the APAC regions and even the

Weaknesses
( i ) High Dependency On Third Party Providers
United depends strongly on third party providers to ensure smooth operations. Many integral functions
comprising of the maintenance, repair, fuelling of the aircraft as well as call centres are outsourced.
This increases the company s expenses and decreases the revenue.
The company s reputation will be at stake if these third party providers fail to perform or to live up to
expectations.
( ii ) Strong Unions
A strong majority of the United s employees are part of professional unions as per the following :
Flight attendants : AFA
Pilots : ALPA
Engineers : IFPTE
Dispatchers : PAFCA
More than 5,000 flights were cancelled as a result of pilots going on strike ( Washington Post, 2000 ).
United s schedule was on standstill for 29 days when their pilots went on strike in 1985 resulting in
severe losses and a downward plunge in customer confidence ( www.alpa.org, 1985

Forgiveness
Being able to forgive and forget allows people to continue to move on with their lives instead of
dwelling on a situation. However, would one be able to forget about a situation more easily if they
have forgiven their transgressor first? Saima, Bierman, and MacLeod (2014) proposed a study to
address this question. They believe this is an important question to address because if forgiving makes
forgetting easier, it will allow people who are able to forgive to release offenses, empowering them to
preserve valued relationships and move on with their lives.
The independent variable presented in these studies is forgiveness and the dependent variable is the
ability to forget. The participants were between the ages of 18 and 39 and were made up ... Show more

They saw a cue word for 30 seconds and were asked to press the space bar as soon as the associated
scenario came to mind. Then were given one minute to give as much detail on the scenario as they
could. Finally participants then responded a second time to the forgiveness questionnaire.
The results of this study were that unforgiven scenarios were observed as more serious (M=6.750,
SD= .32) than forgiven scenarios (M=4.03, SD= .85). It was also observed that participants were more
motivated to forgive the offender for scenarios that had been forgiven (M=2.92, SD=. 76) then
unforgiven (M=5.84, SD= .76) (Saima, Bierman, MacLeod, 2014). The researchers were trying to
make a causal claim that, based on this information, forgiving facilitates forgetting of a

Visit To The Brown Building (Asch Building)
I propose that we visit the Brown Building (originally named the Asch Building). That is because it
was a very important place regarding my topic, labor. The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory occupied the
eighth, ninth, and tenth floors of that building, which was well known for its fire proof rooms at the
time. Obviously, this was proven wrong. There was a huge fire in the top few floors of the building,
that could have been caused by many things. But, the results of the fire were grave. Just under 150
deaths were caused by this accident, as well as 71 non fatal injuries. There were some issues with what
happened though. One problem is that a set of exit doors, which could have led the people to safety,
were locked. The doors were locked to ensure

Emotions And Its Effects On Human Rights
Eliciting emotional responses is often used to extend human rights and can be done without infringing
on existing rights. The legitimacy of these emotional influences depends on their methods, particularly
which emotions are utilized. Patriotism is a necessary start to a movement like this where the aim is to
emotionally bond to strangers and entire separate communities in order to recognize their rights. When
emotions are legitimately used, they won t infringe on human rights because the emotions will modify
a community s collective perception on what their rights are. While some privileges of the wealthy,
high class, and high status would be forfeited, the new emotional connection to other communities
should cause them to value others rights above their own privileges.
Emotions can be used to discourage persons, groups, or institutions that reject or violate human rights
from doing so, perhaps by eliciting their sympathy or respect, or alternatively by generating in them
some form of fear (Gregg 128). The legitimacy depends on how emotions are used. From this divide
of either empathy or fear being the basis for emotionally influenced human rights, only those rights
evoked by empathy will be legitimate. Empathizing with others does more than just allot them rights,
but it actually changes the values of individuals in the community to believe they deserve those rights.
Fifty years ago, the queer community was nearly entirely rejected. Sympathizing with queer people,

Truest Language Acquisition
It is hard to just pick one theory of language acquisition that is the truest for me. I would have to say
the theoretical perspectives on language acquisition which I find to be the truest is the behaviorist
perspective and the social interactionist perspective since both believe that a child s environment plays
a significant role in their language development. I am basing this off of personal experience from
working with children for quite some time now and also from our reading. As the book mentions, the
four perspectives each have their place at different points in the language development process;
however, I do find that some are more important than others. With that being said, this refers back to

The Cultural Body In The Cultural Body
How does Melati Suryodarmo explore the Cultural Body in her performance art work? Through this
essay I am going to explore the Cultural Body in the works and career of Melati Suryodarmo. In aid of
my research and exploration I will consider two of the most influential artists during her training and
two of her works: Rindu, her first solo performance in 1996, and Ballad of Treasures, performed in
2004. The Cultural Body in performance is the presentation of a person or country s culture through
the body. It could be shown through the interpretation or performance of an art form that means
something to the heritage of a country, civilisation or period in time. Melati takes inspiration for her
pieces from her experiences in the world and uses them to express her pain and struggle of being a
foreigner in Germany (Tsai, 2013) during her training, the beginning of her career and her life
following her move there with her husband. She attempts to push through everyday experiences and
present cultural and political encounters that would stimulate the discovery of new identification .
Melati produces a concentrated level of nervous intensity, a bodily experience that does not have any
narrative , which leads to a factual absurdity outcome in the performance that is welcome in
Suryodarmo s work (Pearl Lam Galleries, undated). Melati trained with Anzu Furukawa, an expert
Butoh dance professor, and Marina Abramović to gain her experience in performance art while she
lived in Germany during the 1990s. Following her training, Melati has gone on to present her works at
many international festivals and exhibitions around the globe; and since 2007 has organised an annual
performance art event, Undisclosed Territory, and a Performance Art Laboratory in Indonesia. Melati,
despite not originally choosing performance art as her career path, now finds that using un verbalised
communication opens the door to the different forms of perception and the mind s freedom to interpret
these inputs is a fascinating area of research which Melati is very fond of (Pearl Lam Galleries,
undated). Melati, an Indonesian born artist based in Germany, creates performances that have strong
cultural, social and political aspects, with many

Theme Of Spirit In Lucille Clifton s There Is A Girl Inside
Lucille Clifton s There is a girl inside , teaches the reader to never let old age influence one s spirit and
portrays this by using Clifton s own spirit as an example.
Clifton first introduces her message by representing her childhood spirit as a girl inside of her own
body. The narrator then shows the little girl s determination to not be changed by age. Clifton s first
few lines of the poem starts with a description of the girl that lives inside her. Clifton relates the girl
inside of her to a wolf to emphasize the girl s energetic and strong characteristic. This is important to
the poem because it displays that Clifton s spirit is still lively and active, regarding her age. In the next
few lines, the narrator says, She will not walk away/ and leave these bones/ to and old woman (ln. 3
5). This quote implies that Clifton s spirit (the girl) is determined to maintain young and lively while
Cliftons physical body does not. This quote is important because it shows that a strong spirit is needed
to not be internally influenced by age. Cliftons inner self is fighting against her physical self, which
contributes towards Cliftons advice to never let age take over spirit.
Furthermore, Clifton explains that the girl inside of her is special and unique to emphasize that Clifton
s spirit has not changed. Making the reader understand that Clifton s spirit is special and unique is
important because it emphasizes that the girl is different from her aging body. The narrator says, She
is a green tree/in a forest of kindling (ln. 6 7) to portray the little girls uniqueness. A green tree in a
forest of kindling uses irony to emphasize the little girls uniqueness. This is ironic because it would be
against people s expectations to find a tree in a forest of small kindling. The speaker adds, She is a
green girl/in a used poet (ln. 8 9). Clifton organized this stanza to make the first two lines be reflective
of the last two lines in the stanza. This quote is related to the previous two lines in the poem and
implies what being a green girl in a used poet means. Being a green girl in a used poet means that
Clifton s spirit is what stands out about her, and Clifton s body is just the body of a poet.
Clifton furthers her

The Association Between Spontaneous Resolution And...
Chlamydia is the most common bacterial sexually transmitted infection in the United States and
worldwide. Serious complications are associated with untreated chlamydia such as pelvic
inflammatory disease (PID), infertility, and ectopic pregnancy. Most chlamydia infections are
asymptomatic for long periods.1 Some infections may progress causing complications, or may resolve
spontaneously without treatment also known as self cure. The article presents findings of a perspective
study to evaluate the association between spontaneous resolution and decreased reinfection in women
tested positive for chlamydia returning for treatment. The perspective study was conducted between
January 2008 and June 2011. Participants of the study were women 16 years of age or older positive
for chlamydia. At enrollment of the study participants were tested for chlamydia, given treatment, and
scheduled for a 6 month follow up clinic visit for retesting. To reduce confounding a 60 day max time
interval was given between initial screening and treatment. In most cases women receive treatment for
chlamydia at the initial clinic visit if they have been exposed to chlamydia. Only women who had not
received treatment, not pregnant and no prior hysterectomy were eligible for this study. About 20% of
chlamydia infected patients observed experienced spontaneous resolution of infection between the
time of initial screening for chlamydia and returning for treatment of a positive test. II. Article Review

Character Analysis Of The Darkness In Emma By Jane Austen
Jane Austen begins the novel Emma by stating, Emma Woodhouse, handsome, clever, and rich, with a
comfortable home and happy disposition, seemed to unite some of the best blessings of existence, and
had lived nearly twenty one years in the world with very little to distress or vex her (1) immediately
giving readers the impression that Emma is a young woman whom the readers should respect and
grow to love throughout the novel. As we continue reading, however, we learn that while Emma has a
respectable reputation and a circle of people who love her and want the best for her, she is extremely
flawed. In the article, The Darkness in Emma, Anita Soloway states, for Emma, beauty, cleverness,
and wealth prove to be mixed blessings at best, for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Emma is selfish, unable to see reality as it truly is, and is impulsive, yet, because of her respectable
standing in the social class, people love her and want the best for her and think highly of her. While
discussing Emma with Mr. Knightley, Mrs. Weston states, With all dear Emma s little faults, she is an
excellent creature. Where shall we see a better daughter, or a kinder sister, or a truer friend? No, no;
she has qualities which may be trusted; she will never lead any one really wrong; she will make no
lasting blunder; where Emma errs once, she is in the right a hundred times (25). While her opinion on
Emma does recognize that she has faults and isn t perfect, those flaws are basically overlooked. Mrs.
Weston seems to believe that Emma is a blessing to everyone she encounters, and even when she
creates an issue, it s acceptable because it s assumed she ll do something great to compensate up for it.
This definitely shows what Emma s reputation is like, and how the people close to her view her. One
of Emma s main flaws is the fact that she is extremely impulsive with her actions, and she doesn t stop
to think about what she s doing until the damage is already done. This happens multiple times
throughout the novel, especially when Emma tries to play matchmaker. This is partially due to the fact
that she is unable to see reality clearly, which is what happens during her attempt at bringing Harriet
and Mr. Elton together.

The Contributions Of The Progressive Era
Taking place in the United States between the 1890s and the 1920s, the Progressive Era was a period
characterized by political reform and social activism. Due to the popularity of the Progressive ideals
during this time period, American citizens elected for president candidates, such as Roosevelt, Taft,
and Wilson, who subscribed to these ideals. Of the three Progressive presidents, Wilson was the most
effective when it came to addressing the major issues of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, as
many reforms were enacted during his presidency, including reforms related to his New Freedom
program, despite the controversy surrounding the majority of these reforms. During his two terms of
presidency, Wilson fared well in terms of persuading the Congress, which had mostly consisted of
conservative Democrats, to pass acts that adhered to the Progressive legislative agenda. However, this
can be partially attributed to the fact that many of these acts were aligned with the ideals of
Democrats. Some of the issues that characterized the period between the late 1890s and the early
1920s were economic inequities, poor working conditions, and insufficient social welfare. Progressive
reformers sought to foster efficiency, protect social welfare, promote moral development, and secure
economic reform. As one can see, the Progressive reformers were focused on properly addressing the
major issues of the time period. Therefore, it can be assumed that President

Educational Disparity And Inequality
The most pressing public policy issue affecting my community is educational disparity and inequality.
Education is the key for racial equality, yet the federal government continues to neglect the
educational discrepancies that plague various African American communities. Opportunities that are
not offered to African American students are a microcosm to the present struggles minorities endure.
The continued growth of the Black middle class since the 1960 s has serve to expand the social and
educational advancement of black students. However, recent reports show that an increased number of
minority high school graduates in urban settings suffer from inadequate school and educational
conditions. Since the 1964 Civil Rights Act that prohibited

Bottled Water In Schools
We appreciate you creating new policies to make sure all classrooms have water, and even letting
students pick their choice of water, whether it s a drinking fountain that uses tap water, a water
dispenser, or individual bottles of water. I am writing to propose that the best form of drinking water is
from drinking fountains that use tap water. I believe this because tap water is more environmentally
responsible, as well as better for your health and safety.
One reason that I believe bottled water is not suitable to give to everyone in the school, is because it
causes a lot of environmental problems. According to The Story of Bottled Water by Annie Leonard,

In the online article, How does Pollution Affect Humans by The World Counts, Breathing polluted air
puts you at a higher risk for asthma and other respiratory diseases. When exposed to ground ozone for
6 to 7 hours, scientific evidence shows that healthy people s lungs function decreased and they
suffered from respiratory inflammation (The World Counts par. 4 ). THose are just some of the health
problems that pollution causes This information matters to me because it shows that bottled water not
only affects the Earth by causing pollution, but that pollution also causes health problems. Not only
does it affect the Earth by causing pollution, but bottled water can directly affect you. According to the
online article Bottled Water vs. Tap Water: Rethink What You Drink by Priscilla Torres, The EPA
regulates tap water, while the FDA oversees bottled. Yet FDA oversight doesn t apply to water
packaged and sold within the same state, leaving some 60 to 70 percent of bottled water, including the
contents of watercooler jugs, free of FDA regulation (Torres pg. 2 par.5). This matters to me because it
means if every student in the Natomas district drank from bottled water, some of their water might
contain chemicals because it wasn t checked. Chemicals are definitely a threat because Torres
continues to say, Scientists in Germany found that the longer a bottle of water sits around (in a store,
in your home), the more antimony it develops. High concentrations of antimony can cause nausea,
vomiting, and diarrhea (Torres pg. 3 par. 7). This information is important because it shows that just
keeping water bottles for a long period of time can cause many health problems. If every student had
to drink bottled water, they would constantly be getting sick and spreading their sickness to other
students. So, bottled water causes many health problems, through pollution, and because there may be

Benefits Of The GI Bill
GI Bill: The Servicemen Readjustment Act of 1944
In World War I, the servicemen had postponed benefits that were promised to them. This caused
political turmoil and the response was the Servicemen Readjustment Act of 1944, which is also known
as the GI Bill. This bill provided a range of benefits for the returning World War II veterans. The GI
Bill made a step in the right direction to ensure rightful benefits to the veterans, but did have faults.
The American Legion played an important role in the enactment of the bill. The GI Bill did not
advocate discrimination, but had been interpreted differently for African Americans. The bill also did
not include Merchant Marines, which were carriers and ships that delivered war supplies to the
soldiers. Over the years, adjustments to the GI Bill were made.
The Servicemen Readjustment Act of 1944 was enacted after the soldiers of World War I had come
back from the war and had troubles making ends meet. The soldiers had help from government
benefits, but the benefits were not enough to help soldiers transitioning back to the work force.
Congress had stepped in and made the Act of 1924. This Act promised a bonus that was based on the
number of days that were served in the military. However, this bonus was not put into action until 20
years later, which was too late for struggling soldiers. A group of veterans called the Bonus Marchers
was composed up of 17,000 United States World War I veterans, veterans families, and other groups
that were affiliated with them. The Bonus Marchers marched to the Capitol in Washington, D.C. and
demanded the bonus that they were promised. The government did not convey and ended up sending
out U.S. troops against the WWI veterans under President Hoover s demands. This movement, putting
veterans against soldiers, was a turning point in veterans rights.
President Franklin D. Roosevelt was determined to right the wrong that was done to the veterans. On
June 22, 1944, the GI Bill was signed into law. February 17, 1944 marks the date that the American
Legion began their daily meetings on how to get the GI Bill of Rights passed. Other veteran affiliated
organizations that played a role in the creation of the

Comparing Organic Farming and Conventional Farming
There are many evidences exist that due to conversion of conventional to organic farming, producers
have received better yield, on the contrary, many reviewed findings show that in conversion period,
farmers have gained lower yield. Many researchers evidences have also revealed that, in the long
term, organic farming system may work to enhance agricultural productivity (Hoque, 2012). For
instance, in many developing countries, significant amount of yield rises in crops and fruits in terms of
organic farming projects. These achievements are varied with soil fertility management procedures
such as proper composting, green manure, cover crops, legumes culture, crop rotation, organic
fertilizer application and other soil conservation practices (Zundel and Kilcher, 2007).
The average yield of organic farming over all crops was 75% of conventional crop yield. The main
reason for low yield in organic farming was insufficient availability of nutrient. Input energy
consumption in organic farming was 21% lower than conventional farming. Lower energy inputs in
organic farming were mainly due to the low use of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides (Tuomisto et al.,
2012). The individual yield in organic crops are on average 80% of conventional crops and the
average yield gap between organic and conventional farming is more than 20% (De Ponti et al., 2012).
The yield from organic Chinese kale was approximately 5 times lower than conventional Chinese
kale. The higher yield in

Rowan Williams Argument For The Existence Of God
Rowan Williams is the current Archbishop of Canterbury and leader of the Church of England wrote a
book based on Christian belief. He is the chief religious figure of England as such he is responsible for
leading the life and witness of the Church of England in particular by his teaching and oversight, and
promoting and guiding the communion of the world wide Anglican Church. He knows his audience,
they are Christians, seeking answers about God s existence. Williams does not come across as a
lecturer rather it reads as if he is having a conversation with his audience. He allows for the reader to
pause and reflect what he has written. In his writings, he explains that he explains that, The Bible has
no arguments for the existence of God , and never has a person entered into faith because of a

Instead, his writings make the reader sit back and examine if they are in the faith. Williams keeps his
ideas about God s existence the same throughout both texts yet changes his style of writing for his

When his six year old daughter, Lulu, wrote a letter to God, journalist Alex Renton did his best to get
her an answer. After asking friends and family to help, he sent the letter to Williams and was surprised
to get a response. There is clearly a shift in audience between the first and second text. The first text
was directed to a general audience of varying ages, and the second text is addressed to a six year old
girl, Lulu. The first text focuses more on the complex topic of the existence of God and the possibility
that he interferes with our world. The second text, is a personal letter addressed to a

The Case Of The Killer Whales
Killer whales, also known as Orca s, are the largest members of the dolphin family and the top
predator in their ecosystem. They are one of the most intelligent marine creatures, especially due to
their acute senses of sight and hearing. The word Orca means connection and leadership. People travel
from all over the world just to catch a glimpse of the astounding whale. Their beauty has mesmerized
humans for generations, but for many Orca s, captivity limits their freedom and enjoyment of life. In
1965, orca poaching was at its prime. Over a thousand whales were being captured for either greed or
for the purpose of captivity (Timeline of Commercial Whaling Muller). Captivity is a prison for many
orcas, it not only damages the whale s health, but also has a negative impact on breeding, and the
danger of humans.
Captivity causes many health problems in orcas. Female and male killer whales can grow up to thirty
two feet long and weighing up to twenty two thousand pounds. Many of these whales are thrown into
small tanks that are as long as themselves. The tanks are filled with water and mixed in with chemicals
that the whale is not used to; this results in blindness and many skin problems. Almost all orcas in
captivity die from stress related diseases. Some examples are ulcers, pneumonia, heart defects, and
malnutrition. Orcas are known as divers, since their tanks are around twenty six feet wide and forty
feet deep, they have no room to dive and have no other choice but to go

The continent of Africa provides a home to biodiversity unlike anywhere else. Many endangered
species roam the various biomes that call Africa home. Trophy hunting has been a popular activity for
many decades; many well known individuals such as the Theodore Roosevelt participated. Trophy
hunting is hotly debated within the scientific community; Lucille Palazy, who works for the University
of Paris, introduces this, Trophy hunting is one of the most controversial issues in the field of

Some researchers such as Nuzzo and Traill, who work at Imperial College London and are published
in the African Journal of Ecology, feel as though not enough research has been done on the topic.
Nuzzo and Traill studied data from the years of 1960 to 2011. They conclude, ...[we] cannot draw any
strong conclusions... this research emphasizes the need for population level monitoring programmes,
(Nuzzo, Marcella C, and Lochran W. Traill 253). Conservationists such as Michael Paul Nelson
choose to evaluate the issue through an ethical stance. Nelson introduces an important idea within
conservation, consequentialism. Nelson states, consequentialism is... the end justifies the means...
Consequentialist thinking is common in conservation, (Nelson, Michael Paul, et al. 303). This idea
must be taken into consideration when trying to solve the issue. Other conservationists are strongly
against trophy hunting, such as Peter Lindsey. Lindsey works at the University of Pretoria and
Panthera, a conservation association dedicated to lions. In one of his studies, Trophy Hunting of

hunting quotas and legal hunting areas. Lindsey et al. produce a firm opinion; ...there remain several
problems associated with the negative management of lion hunting which may perpetuate negative
impacts, (Lindsey, Peter Andrew, et al. 9). In another of Lindsey s articles, he discusses the differences
between wild trophy hunting as opposed to captive bred lions being trophy hunting. Lindsey
summarizes, Some trophy hunting organizations...differentiate between the shooting of captive bred
lions and that of wild lions, (Lindsey, P., et al. 20). This important caveat can skew data collected

Harappa And Mexican Civilization Essay
Last night I dreamed that I went back in time, as I walked around I saw people farming wheat and
barley as well as growing dates and melons. In the city there were artist making art using copper,
bronze, ivory and wood. I learned that they were the first to make cotton cloth. Traders were trading
goods with the traders from Egypt and Mesopotamia. I asked a woman in a red dress if she could tell
me a little about her land. She told me that this society was called the Harappa and Mohrenjo Daro
society. I asked how organized her government was. She said that the government was very strong and
organized. The cities were well planned right down to the water and sewer system. The people were an
educated and religious people. They had developed their own system of writing that was done on clay
tablets, statues and other remains. Her society worshipped a mother goddess. They were polytheists;
they believed the buffalo and bull was sacred. They treated their animals special. I saw some graves
that were filled with offerings like food and weapons. She told me that they thought the dead might
need these in an afterlife. I thanked her and she was on her way.

Heroes In The Odyssey
What is a hero? We all know of the nearly three thousand people who died on September Eleventh,
2001 in New York. But what about the over four hundred firefighters, policemen and paramedics who
died that tragic morning? These men and women knew of the danger they were going into and yet,
they were brave enough to rush into the World Trade Center while most fled the site. These heroes
saved many people. But what of those who came out of the rubble? Most went on living the rest of
their lives before the collision, not asking for glory. Heroes do not want power and glory but instead
show bravery when others cower and are willing to sacrifice for what they believe in.

arm and was suddenly afraid (SB p 56). Many soldiers go into battle knowing what they are fighting

who die are unfortunate but still heroic. The ones who tell the story are still heroic in the sense that
they still sacrificed their time, efforts or even their body to the cause that they fight for. A specific
example of a soldier who sacrificed a lot is Pat Tillman. Tillman was offered a three year, $3.6 million
contract playing safety for the Arizona Cardinals. During his career, he said Passion is what makes life
interesting, what ignites our soul and pushes our limits. This said passion of his beloved country led
Tillman to join the U.S. army after the 9/11 attacks, giving up the joy of being a professional football
player and getting that $3.6 million. Tillman ended up giving his life in the field. Today, there is the
Pat Tillman Foundation which helps support veterans, doing what Pat would do.
In short, heroes are selfless men and women who don t cower in times of need and, if necessary,
sacrifice themselves. We need more heroes today. Like the firefighters on 9/11, we need to show our
bravery. We need fewer power hungry men who will stop at nothing to get their power and we need

Leonardo da Vinci
The noblest pleasure is the joy of understanding. (da Vinci)
This quote shows evidence that Leonardo Da Vinci loved to learn and explore. This may explain why
he chose to follow various fields, such as engineering, art, and why people called him a jack of all
trades, master of none ( Leonardo Da Vinci , Authors) (also mentioned below). He created many
paintings and sketches, illuminated the world by creating many statues and buildings as well as
believing in the idea of human flight.
Leonardo da Vinci was a talented sculptor, painter, architect, engineer, and scientist. He was also the
illegitimate son of a Florentine (Italian) notary. This means that he was the child of 2 people that

been so bad that the ice have started to melt, and animals that need the ice to survive or other vital
activities started to suffer. Animals like polar bears (Ursus maritimus) have been seen behaving in
different ways, and all the evidence leads to global warming. There have been evidence of polar bears

Descriptive Essay On My Dream Car
Whether it s a lifted truck running a hemi or a suped up WRX, your dream car embodies what you
desire, the life you d like to live, and the kind of person you d like to be. Your real car embodies what
you have, the life you live, and the kind of person you are.
The search for your dream car entails spending months combing over different makes and models of
car, seeing which has the most horsepower, the fastest, the best for mudding or the best for racing.
Pondering what it would be like to own such a masterpiece of vehicular perfection.
The time spent imagining what your friends would think if you were to pull up to school in a Rolls
Royce, stepping out like a lavish Bill Gates. The flock of people crowding around the new wheels just
to catch a glimpse.
Instead, people walk briskly past your car to distance themselves from the smell of burning oil and the
squeaking the tranny makes anytime you shift to park.
But back to the dream car, the embodiment of fancy, adorning a leather interior, unnecessary interior
lights, top of the line dash clusters and head unit gadgets.
You look down and see your car is outfitted with an interior resembling a 1640 s tavern. Seats stuffed
with a frightening combination of feathers and hay, interior lights so dim you can t see the pedals in
the dark and worst of all, the dash. The tachometer, idling dangerously close to 3, spikes randomly if
you go over 45. As we move over, we meet the fuel gage, hovering ever so close to the dreaded E.
Does your car know what a full tank of gas is like or only what $5 gets you? But hey, I m sure that s
enough to get to school, right? Next we find the temperature gage, where even in park the daring
arrow continues to inch it s way closer and closer to H. Then we glance over to the ominous but
impending doom of the dash lights. You know what light that is, but if you don t look maybe it will go
away. A strange box with the word CHECK inside. It could be anything from a faulty light, to a blown
head gasket, but that s not important cause you re not fixing it regardless.
Last but not least, we reach the coup de gras of your dash, the odometer. Dust covers the numbers,
protecting your eyes from the abomination that is the mileage.

that Dr. Jekyll was enthusiastic about testing out his ?new creation,? as if he were a child and it a toy.
Here, is another difference between the two doctors. Dr. Frankenstein (after realizing what he has
done) halts all of his experiments and does away with his laboratory anything to get his mind of his
terrible creation. He travels around, always watching his back expecting his creature to be there. Dr.
Frankenstein has many qualities of the classic Byronic hero; a character that shows romanticized

felt then that I should survive to exhibit what I shall soon cease to be a miserable spectacle of wrecked
humanity, pitiable to others and intolerable to myself? (Shelley 153). In this quotation, he shows
romanticized self pity and remorse for what he has created. Victor calls himself a ?miserable spectacle
of wrecked humanity.? By this he feels his life is over; he can no long face the world a decent man.

The First Stop On My Cpr Tour
Crystal City Underground
The first stop on my CPR tour was the Crystal City Underground. This awesome cave sits in the heart
Crystal City, which is located about 30 miles south of St Louis, MO. Carved into the Mississippi river
bluff this cavern was once an active sand mine serving a local glass plant, Pittsburgh Plate Glass
factory, with materials for almost a century. In the 1980 s the plant and the mine were closed, allowing
water that was pumped out for decades to begin to flood portions of the cave. The recent owners of
this cave decided to turn the property into a tourist attraction. They built up area s for children to
explore, adults to play games, a stage for bands to play, a sitting area with large TV s for sports and
other event enjoyment, and barges to take tours on while exploring the depths of vastness this cave has
to offer. On the day of my arrival I had the pleasure of experiencing a dark path being well lit with
over 400 carved pumpkins along what was pleasantly titled the Great Pumpkin Walk. As I ventured
along I could see multiple paths that led to deeper parts of the cavern. Many of these paths were
blocked off for what I am assuming were safety reasons. After walking what seemed to be a half mile I
arrived at the tour barge. Loaded with 8 passengers our tour guide, Steve, took us deep into the cave
and explained its history while showing us fascinating things. I witnessed my first close up experience

A community is an area of group of people who has and share things in common. A community may
be large or a small population. According to Stanhope and Lancaster (2016) A community is defined
as a locality based entity composed of systems of formal organizations reflecting societal institutions,

Conflict And Social Behavior Perspective
Introduction This paper will show how conflict and social behavior perspective play an important role
in Dasani s life (Hutchinson, 2015). The reader will have a better understanding of the perspective
through examples in Dasani s life. This paper will conclude with a reflection of the writer s future
profession in the social work field.
Conflict Perspective Defined Conflict perspective is seen through the lens of someone who has power
and seeks to oppress people with less power, sometime through discrimination or control (Hutchinson,
2015). Individuals who are not in the social work field would automatically assume that the conflict
involves a dispute between two individuals. An issue with conflict perspective is that it has the ...

Within this perspective, there are three theories that describe different ways in which learning occurs;
classical conditioning theory, operant conditioning theory, and cognitive social learning theory
(Hutchinson, 2015). Classical conditioning is often associated with physiologist Ivan Pavlov s
experiment with the salivating dog (Hutchinson, 2015). This experiment focused on conditioning the
dog to associate food with the bell while salivating, and eventually salivates when the bell is rung
even without the presence of food. Operant conditioning theory is changed behavior as the result of a
reinforcement (Hutchinson, 2015). In our society, we associate positive reinforcements with
compliments, smiles, high fives in order to encourage a behavior more. Negative reinforcement
involves jail, detention, and grounding, and this is to stop a behavior from continuing. A cognitive
social learning theory states that behavior can be learned through observations, beliefs, expectations,
and imitation of others (Hutchinson, 2015). A major difference between cognitive social learning
theory and the others, is a lack of manipulation to encourage the individual to follow through with a
behavior. Rather, cognitive social learning theories suggest that a change in thinking can ultimately
result in a change in behavior (Hutchinson, 2015).
Dasani s conflict Perspective A reoccurring conflict throughout this case assessment is the mayor s
ignorance to the policies that he is

  • 2. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Virtual Reality Oxford Dictionary defines virtual reality as The computer generated simulation of a three dimensional image or environment that can be interacted with in a seemingly real or physical way by a person using special electronic equipment, such as a helmet with a screen inside or gloves fitted with sensors. Wikipedia says Virtual Reality (VR), which can be referred to as immersive multimedia or computer simulated life, replicates an environment that simulates physical presence in places in the real world or imagined worlds. Virtual reality can recreate sensory experiences, which include virtual taste, sight, smell, sound, and touch. As with the definition goes,Virtual Reality (VR) in simple way to define I would say it is the use of computer technology embedded with many different sensors which mimics the natural environment and make us feel as if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Haptic systems that provide physical feedback or allow a fully articulated presence within an environment are clumsy and can cause problems during use. The type of hardware that even simple head mounted displays use can break the sense of immersion as adjustments to the device need to be made and components such as wires and headphones turn into obstacles to natural movement.Socially, some of the disadvantages of using virtual reality as entertainment have already started to surface, even without an experience that fully removes a person from his or her surrounding stimuli. One issue is social isolation, in which the user of virtual reality relies more on interactions that take place in a virtual world than on experiences in the real world. This lack of true, physical interaction has the potential to create incorrect associations that are not part of real social settings. The isolation could eventually cause depression, disassociation and other conditions, if it is severe ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Symptoms And Symptoms Of Schizophrenia Introduction Schizophrenia is very complex and startling disorder characterized by a broad range of cognitive and emotional dysfunctions (Barlow Durand, 2015, p. 477). It can greatly impact a person s life in a negative manner: affecting physical, emotional, relational, and occupational health. The National Institute of Mental Health defines schizophrenia as a chronic and severe disorder that affects how a person, think, feels, and acts (National Institute of Mental Health, n.d., para. 1). It is believed to be caused by an excess of the neurotransmitter dopamine (Brisch, Saniotis, Wolf, Bielau, Bernstein, Steiner, ..., Gos, 2014). Symptomology and Diagnosis The American Psychiatric Association gives five main symptoms of schizophrenia: delusions, hallucinations, disorganized speech, disorganized or catatonic behavior, and negative symptoms (5th ed.; DSM 5; American Psychiatric Association [APA], 2013). Since the presentation of schizophrenia varies from person to person, only two out of these five symptoms need to be present in order to get a diagnosis. There are three categories of symptoms that accompany schizophrenia: positive, negative, and cognitive (Carlson, 2013). The five symptoms above all fit within these three categories. Positive symptoms occur when something abnormal is present, negative symptoms occur when something normal is absent, and cognitive symptoms occur when something is abnormally cognitively. When one has schizophrenia, the symptoms appear as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Examples Of Monty Hall Problem Bayes Theorem and the Monty Hall Problem Faizan Hasan Introduction The Monty Hall problem is that has troubled many, including myself when I first heard of it. The Monty Hall problem is based on a game show from the 1960 s, named Let s Make a Deal, where the host Monty Hall offers a contestant a choice to choose between three doors. Behind two of which are goats and the other one contains a very desirable car. He asks the contestant to choose one door where they would assume the car is. At this point Monty Hall knows what s behind each door. After the contestant has chosen a door for example lets say the contestant chose door number 1, Monty Hall opens one door which he knows contains a goat which for now we can assume to be door number 2, he then offers the contestant whether they want to change their choice to door number 3 or stay with their original choice of door number 1. It has confused many people about whether they should switch doors or stick to the one they choose originally, So which one would be the best one to increase the probability for you winning the car? Rationale ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When I was made to choose which option I would choose to stay or switch doors I said that it would make no difference, my reasoning behind that was you had one third chance when you first chose a door to win the car, and once the door containing the goat was opened you had 50/50 chance of winning the car, as you had two options. However I was then told that the correct decision always was to switch to the other door if you wanted to maximize your chance at winning the car. To solve this problem I did some research and discovered the best way to solve the problem is using Bayes Theorem, as it is the best way to understand the Monty Hall ... EDUC1708 Research Essay Due: 25 August 2014 By: Kody Williamson (s4350274) Tutor: Dr Joy Kennedy Youdell (2012) argues that the singular and one off multicultural events reproduce majority/minority, Same/Other relations in their display of minoritises cultures for the appreciation of or consumption by the majority. (p 153) This essay will look into the argument of how the one off multicultural events can be seen as racist, fostering social inequality and stereotyping cultures from political power. It will also outline how educators with the right strategies and planning can foster valuable cultural experiences and cultivate socio equality with their students and their school communities. Multicultural education is the term ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Reynolds, 2012) The schools that are hosting these singular multicultural days do have intent to inform students of diverse cultures, yet instead are accentuating the already existing social and cultural hierarchies. (Gorski, 2008) The way and how to teach multiculturalism in the classroom is a sensitive topic between the many parties involved. Since multicultural education is primarily a set of beliefs and philosophies (Neito, 1994), it is a very powerful issue especially from socio political perspectives. Wright (2007) argues that multiculturalism has no pre given destiny nationally or globally, but is continually being renewed and re contested by political policy actors from their dominating point of view. The power of the corporate elite demonstrates their need for social in equality through globalization, for the cheap labor from the poorest countries that accelerate their economic growth. This cycle is what Chosudovsky (2003) calls the Globalisation of Poverty . We all start off negotiating as little kids, even for little things such as candy and toys. When we grow up, negotiating becomes sort of the norm. We negotiate consciously and subconsciously every single day. When you think about it, negotiation takes up most of our lives. We are always trying to see what we can get as a benefit without giving up much. It always comes down to the pie, how big is the pie and who can get the biggest slice. As we become adults with careers, there are ever some that become flat our Negotiators . This means that all they do for a living is negotiate. They are master negotiators and are praised for being so. When it comes to negotiation, persuasion is also within that talent. You have to be able to get what you want from people without them feeling like they are being taken advantage of and that they are also getting just as big a piece of the pie as you are getting, although in reality they are not. Negotiation Negotiation is all about a strategy. The end result is usually to end a problem that someone is having, whether it is personally or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, would one be able to forget about a situation more easily if they have forgiven their transgressor first? Saima, Bierman, and MacLeod (2014) proposed a study to address this question. They believe this is an important question to address because if forgiving makes forgetting easier, it will allow people who are able to forgive to release offenses, empowering them to preserve valued relationships and move on with their lives. The independent variable presented in these studies is forgiveness and the dependent variable is the ability to forget. The participants were between the ages of 18 and 39 and were made up ... • 12. Emotions And Its Effects On Human Rights Eliciting emotional responses is often used to extend human rights and can be done without infringing on existing rights. The legitimacy of these emotional influences depends on their methods, particularly which emotions are utilized. Patriotism is a necessary start to a movement like this where the aim is to emotionally bond to strangers and entire separate communities in order to recognize their rights. When emotions are legitimately used, they won t infringe on human rights because the emotions will modify a community s collective perception on what their rights are. While some privileges of the wealthy, high class, and high status would be forfeited, the new emotional connection to other communities should cause them to value others rights above their own privileges. Emotions can be used to discourage persons, groups, or institutions that reject or violate human rights from doing so, perhaps by eliciting their sympathy or respect, or alternatively by generating in them some form of fear (Gregg 128). The legitimacy depends on how emotions are used. From this divide of either empathy or fear being the basis for emotionally influenced human rights, only those rights evoked by empathy will be legitimate. Empathizing with others does more than just allot them rights, but it actually changes the values of individuals in the community to believe they deserve those rights. Fifty years ago, the queer community was nearly entirely rejected. Sympathizing with queer people, such ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. The Cultural Body In The Cultural Body How does Melati Suryodarmo explore the Cultural Body in her performance art work? Through this essay I am going to explore the Cultural Body in the works and career of Melati Suryodarmo. In aid of my research and exploration I will consider two of the most influential artists during her training and two of her works: Rindu, her first solo performance in 1996, and Ballad of Treasures, performed in 2004. The Cultural Body in performance is the presentation of a person or country s culture through the body. It could be shown through the interpretation or performance of an art form that means something to the heritage of a country, civilisation or period in time. Melati takes inspiration for her pieces from her experiences in the world and uses them to express her pain and struggle of being a foreigner in Germany (Tsai, 2013) during her training, the beginning of her career and her life following her move there with her husband. She attempts to push through everyday experiences and present cultural and political encounters that would stimulate the discovery of new identification . Melati produces a concentrated level of nervous intensity, a bodily experience that does not have any narrative , which leads to a factual absurdity outcome in the performance that is welcome in Suryodarmo s work (Pearl Lam Galleries, undated). Melati trained with Anzu Furukawa, an expert Butoh dance professor, and Marina Abramović to gain her experience in performance art while she lived in Germany during the 1990s. Following her training, Melati has gone on to present her works at many international festivals and exhibitions around the globe; and since 2007 has organised an annual performance art event, Undisclosed Territory, and a Performance Art Laboratory in Indonesia. Melati, despite not originally choosing performance art as her career path, now finds that using un verbalised communication opens the door to the different forms of perception and the mind s freedom to interpret these inputs is a fascinating area of research which Melati is very fond of (Pearl Lam Galleries, undated). • 17. Theme Of Spirit In Lucille Clifton s There Is A Girl Inside Lucille Clifton s There is a girl inside , teaches the reader to never let old age influence one s spirit and portrays this by using Clifton s own spirit as an example. Clifton first introduces her message by representing her childhood spirit as a girl inside of her own body. The narrator then shows the little girl s determination to not be changed by age. Clifton s first few lines of the poem starts with a description of the girl that lives inside her. Clifton relates the girl inside of her to a wolf to emphasize the girl s energetic and strong characteristic. This is important to the poem because it displays that Clifton s spirit is still lively and active, regarding her age. In the next few lines, the narrator says, She will not walk away/ and leave these bones/ to and old woman (ln. 3 5). This quote implies that Clifton s spirit (the girl) is determined to maintain young and lively while Cliftons physical body does not. This quote is important because it shows that a strong spirit is needed to not be internally influenced by age. Cliftons inner self is fighting against her physical self, which contributes towards Cliftons advice to never let age take over spirit. Furthermore, Clifton explains that the girl inside of her is special and unique to emphasize that Clifton s spirit has not changed. Making the reader understand that Clifton s spirit is special and unique is important because it emphasizes that the girl is different from her aging body. The narrator says, She is a green tree/in a forest of kindling (ln. 6 7) to portray the little girls uniqueness. A green tree in a forest of kindling uses irony to emphasize the little girls uniqueness. This is ironic because it would be against people s expectations to find a tree in a forest of small kindling. The speaker adds, She is a green girl/in a used poet (ln. 8 9). Clifton organized this stanza to make the first two lines be reflective of the last two lines in the stanza. This quote is related to the previous two lines in the poem and implies what being a green girl in a used poet means. Being a green girl in a used poet means that Clifton s spirit is what stands out about her, and Clifton s body is just the body of a poet. Clifton furthers her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Serious complications are associated with untreated chlamydia such as pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), infertility, and ectopic pregnancy. Most chlamydia infections are asymptomatic for long periods.1 Some infections may progress causing complications, or may resolve spontaneously without treatment also known as self cure. The article presents findings of a perspective study to evaluate the association between spontaneous resolution and decreased reinfection in women tested positive for chlamydia returning for treatment. The perspective study was conducted between January 2008 and June 2011. Participants of the study were women 16 years of age or older positive for chlamydia. At enrollment of the study participants were tested for chlamydia, given treatment, and scheduled for a 6 month follow up clinic visit for retesting. To reduce confounding a 60 day max time interval was given between initial screening and treatment. In most cases women receive treatment for chlamydia at the initial clinic visit if they have been exposed to chlamydia. Only women who had not received treatment, not pregnant and no prior hysterectomy were eligible for this study. Where shall we see a better daughter, or a kinder sister, or a truer friend? No, no; she has qualities which may be trusted; she will never lead any one really wrong; she will make no lasting blunder; where Emma errs once, she is in the right a hundred times (25). One of Emma s main flaws is the fact that she is extremely impulsive with her actions, and she doesn t stop to think about what she s doing until the damage is already done. • 20. The Contributions Of The Progressive Era Taking place in the United States between the 1890s and the 1920s, the Progressive Era was a period characterized by political reform and social activism. Due to the popularity of the Progressive ideals during this time period, American citizens elected for president candidates, such as Roosevelt, Taft, and Wilson, who subscribed to these ideals. Of the three Progressive presidents, Wilson was the most effective when it came to addressing the major issues of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, as many reforms were enacted during his presidency, including reforms related to his New Freedom program, despite the controversy surrounding the majority of these reforms. During his two terms of presidency, Wilson fared well in terms of persuading the Congress, which had mostly consisted of conservative Democrats, to pass acts that adhered to the Progressive legislative agenda. However, this can be partially attributed to the fact that many of these acts were aligned with the ideals of Democrats. Some of the issues that characterized the period between the late 1890s and the early 1920s were economic inequities, poor working conditions, and insufficient social welfare. Progressive reformers sought to foster efficiency, protect social welfare, promote moral development, and secure economic reform. Not only does it affect the Earth by causing pollution, but bottled water can directly affect you. According to the online article Bottled Water vs. Tap Water: Rethink What You Drink by Priscilla Torres, The EPA regulates tap water, while the FDA oversees bottled. Yet FDA oversight doesn t apply to water packaged and sold within the same state, leaving some 60 to 70 percent of bottled water, including the contents of watercooler jugs, free of FDA regulation (Torres pg. 2 par.5). This matters to me because it means if every student in the Natomas district drank from bottled water, some of their water might contain chemicals because it wasn t checked. Chemicals are definitely a threat because Torres continues to say, Scientists in Germany found that the longer a bottle of water sits around (in a store, in your home), the more antimony it develops. This caused political turmoil and the response was the Servicemen Readjustment Act of 1944, which is also known as the GI Bill. This bill provided a range of benefits for the returning World War II veterans. The GI Bill made a step in the right direction to ensure rightful benefits to the veterans, but did have faults. The American Legion played an important role in the enactment of the bill. The GI Bill did not advocate discrimination, but had been interpreted differently for African Americans. The bill also did not include Merchant Marines, which were carriers and ships that delivered war supplies to the soldiers. Over the years, adjustments to the GI Bill were made. The Servicemen Readjustment Act of 1944 was enacted after the soldiers of World War I had come back from the war and had troubles making ends meet. The soldiers had help from government benefits, but the benefits were not enough to help soldiers transitioning back to the work force. Congress had stepped in and made the Act of 1924. This Act promised a bonus that was based on the number of days that were served in the military. However, this bonus was not put into action until 20 years later, which was too late for struggling soldiers. A group of veterans called the Bonus Marchers was composed up of 17,000 United States World War I veterans, veterans families, and other groups that were affiliated with them. The Bonus Marchers marched to the Capitol in Washington, D.C. and demanded the bonus that they were promised. The government did not convey and ended up sending out U.S. troops against the WWI veterans under President Hoover s demands. This movement, putting veterans against soldiers, was a turning point in veterans rights. President Franklin D. Roosevelt was determined to right the wrong that was done to the veterans. On June 22, 1944, the GI Bill was signed into law. February 17, 1944 marks the date that the American Legion began their daily meetings on how to get the GI Bill of Rights passed. Many researchers evidences have also revealed that, in the long term, organic farming system may work to enhance agricultural productivity (Hoque, 2012). For instance, in many developing countries, significant amount of yield rises in crops and fruits in terms of organic farming projects. These achievements are varied with soil fertility management procedures such as proper composting, green manure, cover crops, legumes culture, crop rotation, organic fertilizer application and other soil conservation practices (Zundel and Kilcher, 2007). The average yield of organic farming over all crops was 75% of conventional crop yield. The main reason for low yield in organic farming was insufficient availability of nutrient. Input energy consumption in organic farming was 21% lower than conventional farming. Lower energy inputs in organic farming were mainly due to the low use of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides (Tuomisto et al., 2012). The individual yield in organic crops are on average 80% of conventional crops and the average yield gap between organic and conventional farming is more than 20% (De Ponti et al., 2012). They are one of the most intelligent marine creatures, especially due to their acute senses of sight and hearing. The word Orca means connection and leadership. People travel from all over the world just to catch a glimpse of the astounding whale. Their beauty has mesmerized humans for generations, but for many Orca s, captivity limits their freedom and enjoyment of life. In 1965, orca poaching was at its prime. Over a thousand whales were being captured for either greed or for the purpose of captivity (Timeline of Commercial Whaling Muller). Captivity is a prison for many orcas, it not only damages the whale s health, but also has a negative impact on breeding, and the danger of humans. Captivity causes many health problems in orcas. Female and male killer whales can grow up to thirty two feet long and weighing up to twenty two thousand pounds. Many of these whales are thrown into small tanks that are as long as themselves. The tanks are filled with water and mixed in with chemicals that the whale is not used to; this results in blindness and many skin problems. Almost all orcas in captivity die from stress related diseases. Some examples are ulcers, pneumonia, heart defects, and malnutrition. Orcas are known as divers, since their tanks are around twenty six feet wide and forty feet deep, they have no room to dive and have no other choice but to go ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The ones who tell the story are still heroic in the sense that they still sacrificed their time, efforts or even their body to the cause that they fight for. A specific example of a soldier who sacrificed a lot is Pat Tillman. Tillman was offered a three year, $3.6 million contract playing safety for the Arizona Cardinals. During his career, he said Passion is what makes life interesting, what ignites our soul and pushes our limits. This said passion of his beloved country led Tillman to join the U.S. army after the 9/11 attacks, giving up the joy of being a professional football player and getting that $3.6 million. Within this perspective, there are three theories that describe different ways in which learning occurs; classical conditioning theory, operant conditioning theory, and cognitive social learning theory (Hutchinson, 2015). Classical conditioning is often associated with physiologist Ivan Pavlov s experiment with the salivating dog (Hutchinson, 2015). This experiment focused on conditioning the dog to associate food with the bell while salivating, and eventually salivates when the bell is rung even without the presence of food. Operant conditioning theory is changed behavior as the result of a reinforcement (Hutchinson, 2015). In our society, we associate positive reinforcements with compliments, smiles, high fives in order to encourage a behavior more. Negative reinforcement involves jail, detention, and grounding, and this is to stop a behavior from continuing. A cognitive social learning theory states that behavior can be learned through observations, beliefs, expectations, and imitation of others (Hutchinson, 2015). A major difference between cognitive social learning theory and the others, is a lack of manipulation to encourage the individual to follow through with a behavior. Rather, cognitive social learning theories suggest that a change in thinking can ultimately result in a change in behavior (Hutchinson, 2015).
