Black Panther Party Essay
Huey Newton and Bobby Seale were two African American men growing up in the ghetto of
California where they saw and experienced racism and police brutality. There voices were not heard
when it came to their communities. It took three young children to die by car crashes, and a peaceful
candlelight vigil that turned into a fight between a neighborhood and the police (in which the police
covered up their badges so that no one could report them to the police department) for them to want to
make a change to free themselves from control and oppression. It was because of this that 25 year old
Huey Newton and 30 year old Bobby Seale founded The Black Panther Party for Self Defense in
October 1966, in Oakland, California.

6.) We want all black men to be exempt from military service. 7.) We want an immediate end to
POLICE BRUTALITY and MURDER of black people. 8.) We want freedom for all black men held in
federal, state, county and city prisons and jails. 9.) We want all black people when brought to trial to
be tried in court by a jury of their peer group or people from their black communities, as defined by
the Constitution of the United States. 10.) We want land, bread, housing, clothing, justice, and peace.
And as our major political objective, a United Nation supervised plebiscite to be held throughout the
black colony in which only black colonial subjects will be allowed to participate, for the purpose of
determining the will of black people as to their national destiny (Freed 96 98). Their platform and its
ideals intrigued blacks across the country, especially in the inner cities of the north. The Panthers were
able to organize and unite these blacks; this alarmed the federal government.
The Black Panthers eliminated the Self Defense label from their name near the end of the1960 s and
became The Black Panthers in order to assume a better role with the community. The Black Panthers
called for neighborhood control of such services as education and the police. Aside from being
militant, they provided survival programs such as food giveaways, free health clinics, free breakfast
programs for children and helped people to clean up their neighborhoods. The Panthers also

The Pros And Cons Of Biological Weapons
One of the reasons as to why the commission believes that terrorists are more likely to obtain
biological weapons than nuclear weapons is because some biological weapons are much simpler and
easier to make than nuclear weapons (Abramson, 2012). Moreover, the materials that are needed to
create a biological weapon could easily be obtained from innocuous endeavors that improve the
quality of human life (Abramson, 2012). On the other hand, if a terrorist organization would try to
conduct a nuclear attack, then they would face many challenges that would be very difficult to
overcome while also keeping the attack secret (Gerstein, 2010). One of these challenges would be
acquiring the equipment and the infrastructure that is needed to create a nuclear weapon without
raising any alarms to authorities about the intents of the terrorist organization (Gerstein, 2010). The
terrorist organization ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, the former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) director James Woolsey has stated that creating
a biological weapon is as easy as producing beer and that even a good chemistry high school student is
capable of creating a biological weapon (Gerstein, 2010). Moreover, with the increase of natural
viruses such as Ebola, terrorists could carry out a biological attack without the need of having to use
any technology (Cenciarelli et al., 2015). They could simply travel to the country where a
transmittable natural virus is occurring and they could get infected on purpose; then, all they have to
do is travel back to their target location and intentionally spread the transmittable virus among large
crowds of people (Cenciarelli et al.,

Summarize Emerson Transcendentalism
Discussion Questions Self Reliance Directions: Read (and annotate) the essay carefully. You may want
to read it more than once. Then, answer each of the following questions fully and thoughtfully. Your
responses must be typed (they may be typed directly into this document). 1. Discuss the meaning of
the verse preceding the essay. The verse talks about how man is his own, he is in charge of his own
life and fate. I think this means to be self reliant, to be yourself, be your own individual and be
confident about it. Our lives can still be affected by the past like a shadow behind us but we cannot let
it take control. 2. Looking at the entire essay, what does Emerson mean by self reliance? Objectively

Naked Mole Rat Research Paper
The Naked Mole Rat
The naked mole rat is a very fascinating little creature. Naked mole rats are more closely related to
porcupines, chinchillas, and guinea pigs than they are to moles or rats and are the only species of mole
rat that has practically no fur (Zielinski). It s not very cute to look at. They are pinkish tan, with
wrinkled skin, and a tail. They do not have fur, hence the name naked. They do have very fine hairs on
their body to help them feel what s around them. They are also known as a sand puppy. It s closely
related to the blesmols (Hagan). The have big, strong sharp incisors. These are used for digging
tunnels and gnawing on roots and tubers that grow underground from trees and plants.

Differences Between Newark And Washington s 7th...
Throughout all levels of American politics incumbents running for reelection have a huge and
systematic advantage over their challengers. In this paper, the incumbency advantage will be
examined through the lens of James Jim McDermott s continual reelection in Washington s 7th
Congressional District and Sharpe James, the longtime mayor of Newark. James incumbency
advantage is especially interesting in the context of 2002 mayoral campaign, where he was nearly
unseated by Cory Booker. Both McDermott and James served their constituents for over 30 years and
developed sizable incumbency advantages, though in some cases they were used in different ways.
Looking at the differences demographically between Newark and Washington s 7th Congressional
District can be striking, but if instead the incumbency advantage is considered, the similarities are
wide reaching and fascinating. In this paper, six major elements of incumbency advantage will be
looked at: name recognition, party advantage, redistricting, constituency service, focus on candidates
and special incumbent privileges.
Before comparing the incumbency advantage, the differences between Newark and Washington s 7th
congressional district have to be examined. While the incumbency advantage is very similar in each
region, the physical and demographical difference couldn t be starker. First, and most obviously,
Sharpe James was running for mayoral position of Newark but Jim McDermott was running for the

Lester B. Pearson and the Suez Canal Crisis
The Suez crisis was a conflict that could have easily turned into a third World War. With a battle
between the Israelis and Egyptians at Sinai, the British and French invasion of Egypt, and nuclear
threats from the Soviet Union, all of the elements were present to escalate the conflict and pull other
countries into the fray. Canada had no direct ties to the Suez crisis, in terms of control or economic
interest. However, Canadian Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Lester B. Pearson, persuaded the
UN General Assembly to send in the United Nations Emergency Force. Even though Lester B.
Pearson dismayed the Commonwealth with his measures for peace, Canada was recognized for
starting the first ever United Nations Peacekeeping mission. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Israeli advance towards the canal is a fake to show the world that Egypt in danger of being
overthrown by the Israelis. The British and French then dissimulate as peacekeepers, trying to diffuse
then tension between Egypt and Israel. They offer Nasser an ultimatum: Israel and Egypt are to cease
fighting or the two Western powers will intervene . On the 31st of October this ultimatum expires and
France and Britain attack, bombing Alexandria and sending in thousands of troops. Russia then
threatens Britain and France with Nuclear weapons. At this point it looks as though the world is on the
brink of another World War.
Canada had no interest to the Suez crisis, in terms of control, economic or military interest, but Lester
B. Pearson saw an opportunity to intervene. While the Cabinet in Ottawa debated about the attack on
Egypt, the UN Security Council met in New York. Even though Canada did not have a permanent seat
on the United Nations Security Council, Lester B. Pearson and the Foreign Affairs delegation of
Canada worked towards building an agreement for the proposal to the UN, on the Suez Crisis.
Encouraged by the US, Yugoslavia makes a Uniting for Peace resolution , which enables a debate to
be moved to the General Assembly. The UK and France do not block this, however, negative votes
would not constitute a veto. The Suez Canal

Genre Analysis Of Baseball
The game of baseball has been around for approximately 150 years and throughout its history there
have been different genres used to discuss or write about the sport. The two genres are a blog post and
a news article about win loss projections for teams. Each genre will look at the sport and write about
the projections in a different way because they have different authors, audiences, and purposes. The
two different genres will also differ in the style and context because they have different reasons and
goals for their writings. The blog post will attempt to prove how the preseason predictions made by
the news article are unreliable. On the other hand, the news article will attempt to show how the
predictions are still trustworthy. The genres ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Following genre conventions, the use of NJ math whiz is an exciting and attention seeking way to say
a math professor (Casey). Casey uses this phrase in order to entice readers to click on his article. The
first sentence also draws readers in as it tells readers that Yankee and Red Sox fans won t be happy to
hear what the math professor predicted for their teams (Casey). Then, he describes the background
behind the article that a math professor at the New Jersey Institute of Technology uses mathematical
formulas before every season to estimate the records of the MLB teams. The professor, Bruce Bukiet,
uses models that he developed in the 1980s and these formulas usually rank in the top 15% of
preseason predictions when compared to sports writers (Casey). Last year, Casey explains that the
professor successfully projected four of the six division winners to make the playoffs. However, even
the mathematical models cannot foresee the randomness that is included in the game of baseball. The
author s purpose for writing about the professors preseason predictions is to share his interests in
statistics through his journalism. The author s tone in the article comes from the fact that it seems

INTRODUCTION
Cholera is a tropical disease that causes critical dehydration. The bacterium, which can be found in
contaminated water or food, produces the toxin that causes unusual fluid secretion (1). Even though
cholera still causes several deaths, about 80% of the cases can be treated with rehydration therapy (2).
In 2013, America had the highest number of cholera cases (Figure 1).
Figure 1: Cholera cases reported to WHO by year and continent 1989 2013 (World Health
Organization, 2014) The causal agent of cholera is called Vibrio cholerae (Figure 2), which is a Gram
negative bacillus from the genus Vibrionaceae. The bacterium moves by a polar flagellum. Even with
a high number of strains described, only the serotypes O139 and O1 can cause cholera (3).
Figure 2: Vibrio cholerae (Kirn et al, 2000) The cholera toxin (also called choleragen) is a protein that
activates adenylate cyclase. Being an enterotoxin, this protein affects the membrane permeability of
intestinal wall cells (4). The protein was first purified in 1969 and it is composed by two types of
subunits, with one being the binding type of subunit (B) and other being the toxic active type of
subunit (A) (5). The B type has a mass of 64 kDa, which is about 67% of the total protein mass. It is

No one before Canadian writer director Dolan has ever tried a 1:1 a risk considering the vast majority
of modern films are screened in a 1.85:1 or 2.35:1 aspect ratio. Despite the time it takes to get used to
the restrained perspective, it works beautifully in both an aesthetic and metaphoric manner. The bold
visual trick mixed with tight shot sizes allow every moment to be emotionally sincere; the audience
can avoid distractions to the left and right of the frame and look the characters right in the eye. Even in
the most calm of scenes, if there are three characters on screen, the sequence becomes that much more
powerful. The ratio forces the audience to sit front row in the suffocating unhealthiness and, like Steve
s mind, offers them no escape save for two fleeting moments when the frame expands to a standard
aspect ratio. These moments, being the two most hopeful in the film, really do help to express the
feelings of freedom that the characters experience before being but back into their cages the perfect

The intention of virtual reality is to help the user relate, assess, as well as manipulate the environment,

When nurses are made aware and prepared for these complex situations, this assists in reducing harm
and it also improves patients safety (Weiss, and Jessel, 1998). Based on the article it was reported that,
healthcare providers are more likely to create errors or problems the first time they conduct any
procedure. (Weiss, and Jessel, (1998). The preparations of appropriate experiences when learning and
meeting the prospects of healthcare can be quite overwhelming for both students as well as the
instructors. The study revealed that virtual reality simulation is an effective computerized teaching
strategy, whereby real life events are simulated as well as other nursing experiences. The study
reduces most of errors encountered, and allows unlimited procedures when practicing and offers
effective feedback among the students and the trainers (Abrams, 2002). The study also revealed that
nursing students put their attention on skills rather than exhibit concern in the preparation of nursing.

America s Lack Of Economic Equality
America suffers from a lack of economic equality; the population is divided into social classes. Per
Mantsios, the upper fifteen percent control eighty five percent of the nations wealth. This attributes the
other eighty five percent of the population the remaining fifteen percent of the nations wealth. The
people born into a high economic standing can afford better education which prepares them for better
jobs. And those who are born into a lower economic standing are more expected to enter low income
schools and conditioned for labor jobs. Higher income families, those of the fifteen percent, are more
likely to have children that will obtain a better education. This leaves the other eighty five percent of
the population that make up the lower and middle class to seemingly reduced education and public
schooling which is only available for free up until the twelfth grade. The population consisting of the
lower class, who can t afford higher education, are less likely to continue to go to college; this only
narrows their options for jobs. Those in the upper class will have a better education and obtain higher
positions in companies than those in the lower class.
Educational development is a very important step in life; it seems that people are judged everyday
especially on their education. Parents seem to go through extensive procedures to get their children

The Prosecution Of Sexual Assault
The prosecution of sexual assault is unlike the prosecution of any other criminal offence. There an
intense focus on the character and motivation of the complainant. Traditionally, this focus has
translated into a preoccupation with aspects of the complainant s behavior which is not immediately
related to the circumstances of the offence. One example is whether the complainant provided a recent
complaint after the assault. This focus also results in an extraordinary interest in the demonstration of
proof of resistance by the complainant and the corresponding application of force by the perpetrator,
though neither is an element of the crime. A proper appreciation of the law in this area requires an

It is not mentioned in our conversations and that silence contributes to the continuation of domestic
and sexual violence. As early as the year 800, rape was a capital offense in Anglo Saxon England. In
1769, William Blackstone, the leading eighteenth century authority on common law in both England
and the colonies, defined common law rape as the carnal knowledge of a woman forcibly and against
her will (Samaha). The definition boiled down to four elements: Sexual intercourse by force or a threat
of severe bodily harm (actus reus). Intentional vaginal intercourse (mens rea). Intercourse between a
man and a woman who wasn t his wife (attendant circumstance). Intercourse without the woman s
consent (attendant circumstance). The common law required proof beyond a reasonable doubt of all
four elements. In the common law trials, rape victims were allowed to testify against accused rapists;
it was up to the jury to decide whether to believe them. But the victim s credibility depended on three
conditions, always difficult (and often impossible) to satisfy: Her chastity, whether she promptly
reported the rape, whether other witnesses corroborated the rape (womanslawproject.org). By the
1970s and 1980s was a time of major reform of sex offense laws. First, states changed rape
prosecution procedures that had been in effect since the 1600s. Many states abolished the

Stamp Out Smoking Ad Campaign Analysis

counseling services by phone, online, or both. Although the ADH focuses on all aspects of smokers,
the Arkansas Department of health has a strong passion to help those who suffer from second hand
smoke. Plastered throughout Arkansas cities and on nearly every television, the ADH runs ads of
children both young and old that suffer from second hand smoke. Perhaps one of the strongest ads is
the one that has a picture of a hand grenade and a cigarette and says they are both capable of killing

Communism Created By Karl Marx And Friedrich Engels
Communism is a philosophy and form of government that has been used all over the world. It was
created by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. For the most part it has failed to build stable and
prosperous nations. What factors caused communism to fail? Can we identify those factors and avoid
it entirely? We must try to, and preserve our successful form of government.
The creators of communism are Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. Karl Marx was born on May 5, 1818
into a well off German family. He eventually attended university and this is when his interest and
critique of religion and government began. When he went to university he joined the Young Hegelian
movement, and he produced a radical critique of Christianity (Kreis, 2000). After the ... Show more

The Communist Manifesto says that society is split into two rival camps Bourgeoisie and Proletariat.
The Bourgeoisie were the ruling and powerful class that had apparently gained that power through
several revolutions. The Bourgeoisie had apparently put a system in place which only valued self
interest and greed over its number of revolutions, because the Bourgeoisie needs a constantly
expanding market, it establishes connections all over the globe...it creates a world in its own image
(The Communist Manifesto, n.d). The book ends its first chapter by stating that production and
exchange are the basis of the Bourgeoisie s society and because of over production it will turn on
itself. The other half of society were the Proletarians, which the communist said they were. The
communist s goal is the formation of the proletariat into a class, overthrow of the bourgeoisie,
conquest of political power by the proletariat. (Marx, 1884). One of the most important goals of the
Communist League was to abolish the right to private property, it also points out that the workers do
not get anything out of working, and what they do get is the Bourgeoisie s not theirs, in communist
society labor will be done for the sake of the laborer (The Communist Manifesto, n.d). The last section
of the Communist Manifesto explains that the communist party fights for the workers, and will work
with the Bourgeoisie to further their own agenda (The Communist

Improving Your Emotional Intelligence Can Be Jump
Improving your emotional intelligence can be jump started by following some simple steps.
Psychiatrist Dr. Norman Rosenthal (2012) suggests several steps that can enhance your emotional
intelligence, many of the tips he suggests are found among the foundational skills toward successful
collaboration discussed in the text by Friend and Cook (2013). Both Rosenthal and Friend and Cook
place not interrupt or changing the subject high among skills that will help you to become a better
listener. Listening with your whole body and being aware of physical sensations of stress will allow
you to process your thoughts with the power of reason (Rosenthal, 2012). Additionally, all of the
authors suggest avoiding prejudgments and making faulty assumptions. By not making assumptions
and judgments before all of the information about a topic or conflict has been given prevents a
thorough thought process from taking place. Rosenthal follows up this step with two additional steps
that require the listener to seek to make connections with their own thoughts. He states that listening
to your feelings is like listening to all of the witnesses in a court case. Only by admitting all of the
evidence will you be able to reach the best verdict (2012). I think this advice makes an excellent tie
into Friend and Cook s suggested listening skills namely, establishing listening goals, and focusing on
the content and context of the spoken message (p. 67 68). When a conflict arises it is important to be

Personal Narrative Essay On Staff Only
Saturday Mornings My body went numb. I could hear voices asking me if I was okay, but all I could
do was stare straight. Beep! Beep! Beep! My alarm buzzed right at 8:30 like clockwork that Saturday
morning. I groaned and slowly climbed out of the warm imprint my body left in my bed the previous
night. I threw on my bright, red collared shirt with the word VOLUNTEER written across the right
side of my chest, and I clipped on my badge that made me feel unusually professional because that
little piece of paper had the ability to get me through all of the doors that read Staff Only . A half hour
later, I was on my way to St. Vincent Carmel Hospital. Little did I know that I was about to experience
a moment that I would remember for a lifetime. As I walked into the emergency room entrance,
everything seemed normal. I could hear the hospital beds gliding across the floor, the monitors with a
steady heartbeat, and the phones ringing. All of the nurses warmly greeted me as I began my weekly
shift of 9 12 AM. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The stretcher was rolled in with a paramedic straddled across the patient, pumping on the man s chest.
I often saw broken bones, stomach pains, infections; however, nothing like this. Doctors, nurses, and x
ray technicians rushed into the patient s room. The man was surrounded by a team of thirty health

their duties and stayed out of each other s way. Each second was crucial to the survival of this man,

Was Marie Antoinette a Cause of the French Revolution or...
Marie Antoinette was the Archduchess of Austria, and became Dauphine of France after several years.
Many French citizens dislike her because of her behaviors. Some citizens blamed on her that she was
one of the reason to cause the French Revolution. Some of the people said that she was not a serious
problem for forming the French Revolution. There were also some people said that those behaviors
were came from Louis XVI or influenced to Marie Antoinette, and actually he was one of the reason
that caused the French Revolution. So what is the truth as one of the cause of French Revolution? Was
she really a cause of the French Revolution? Marie Antoinette was born on November 2, 1755 at the

very poor, Marie Antoinette wore his lady fashion cloth and ate meals in front of public. Her life after
married to Louis XVI became very luxurious, because the only thing she knew was spending money

made the economy even worse when they wasted money. Instead of ruling the country, Louis XVI

Essay on Conscience of Queen Gertrude in Shakespeare s...
The Conscience of the Queen William Shakespeare s play Hamlet is perhaps one of his most
intriguing and scandalous pieces of work. One character who is liable for much of this excitement and
outrage is Hamlet s mother, Queen Gertrude. To some readers and critics, Gertrude is conceived as an
erratic, superficial and sensual woman. Others discern the Queen as an earnest, intellectual and
sagacious woman whose tragic fault is her yearning for sexual satisfaction. Throughout the text, there
are several legitimate arguments for both sides, but in the end, Hamlet seems to sum up the Queen s
true persona with the words Frailty, thy name is woman . Evidence of Gertrude s true nature can be
found in many instances through out the play such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hamlet s conflict with Gertrude is a main part of this play. A few characters in this play give insight on
Gertrude that point in the direction of her being shallow and evil. One example is late in the first act
when Hamlet cries O most pernicious woman! O villain, villain, smiling, dammed villain! This is
when, deep in thought, Hamlet realizes that his mother could have possibly taken part in his father s
death and he thinks she s evil. In Hamlet s head, everything makes sense now because it is now
understandable how she got over the death so quickly. This is the first time that Hamlet realizes his
mother s true character. This is a very imperative notion about Gertrude s personality because for her
very own son to think a validation like this is extreme. Often times a man will love and defend his
mother until the day he dies, while Hamlet, on the other hand, is thinking of her playing a role in his
father s death. When the ghost speaks of Gertrude s speedy marriage, it provides more evidence of her
shallowness. The King s ghost says that she is seeming virtuous . He is basically saying that while she
looks holy and righteous, she isn t. The new King offered her something (or many things) that she
wanted, and she took the bait and married him. She didn t care that her husband had just died, or how
her son would react to this

What Is The Significance Of The Gold Rush In Canada
History may not be everyone s favourite subject however, there are some fascinating events that have
happened in Canada s history in which one of them was the Gold Rush Era. In Canada, the three key
events in the Gold Rush Era included the Fraser River, Cariboo, and Klondike gold rushes. A gold
rush is when a numerous amount of individuals migrate to a specific region to get hold of newly
discovered gold in pursuit of riches.
The Fraser River Gold Rush was British Columbia s first significant gold rush. In 1857, a local man
was taking a drink from the Thompson River when he noticed a tiny glittering pebble. That pebble
was then discovered to be gold and with that the history of British Columbia was changed for eternity.
In 1858, when the word spilled out that there was gold near the Fraser River, more than 30, 000 people
flocked to the shores of the Fraser River to Lillooet, British Columbia to find gold. A significant
amount of seekers were Americans looking for new opportunities after the California gold rush had
come to an end. Due to the arrival of many Americans, to prevent American invasion from threatening
the British sovereignty in the area, a new colony called New Caledonia was created, which is now
present day British Columbia. The gold rush ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

River Gold Rush, many First Nations were forced to leave their land once again due to settlers moving
in. In 1862, Governor James Douglas made workers build the Cariboo Road, between Yale and
Barkerville, BC to provide a wagon route to the gold fields of the Cariboo regions. In 1866, the

Utopia Vision Statement
When I first began college, I knew that I wanted to major in civil engineering; However, knowing that
my major would take up all of my units after finishing the general education classes, I knew that I
could not afford to take any extra classes, to explore and expand my own curiosity and knowledge of
what is available. Instead, I decided to invest my academic career focusing on engineering. As
freshman students began college, many students asked themselves that oh so common and over beaten
life question what is the point of college?, while others wondered if it was it a place to explore and
discover more about one s self. Well now, thanks to Kwame Anthony Appiah, who teaches philosophy
at N.Y.U. and wrote an article What Is the Point of College?, he explains two visions which are Utility
U. and Utopia U. as well as the habits students possess at the start of college. As students first enter
the college world they go through what is known as, Utility and/or Utopia vision; However, one vision
would be stronger than the other. A Utility vision is when you want to know if you are getting a
profitable return in an investment, while the same students are also act out the role of a consumer.
Utility U. possess certain requirements that need to be filled and will pay for expenses in exchange for
quick responses such as the desire, to be taught. Plus the fact that, Utility U. is concerned with value,

Forbidden Love In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet Still...
How relevant can a play written over 400 years ago be in today s society? Romeo and Juliet is a play
written by William Shakespeare around 1595. It tells the story of an old feud between the house of
Capulet and the house of Montague. This feud could only be broken by the forbidden love and death
of their children. So, because of the forbidden love, instability in youth, and pointless feuding, the
story of Romeo and Juliet is actually really relevant in today s society.
Frist of all, forbidden Loves can be caused by many different issues. For example, forbidden love can
be caused by differences in race, religion, social standing, gender preference, or in the case of Romeo
and Juliet, family feuding. As a result, people, especially teens, ... Show more content on

For instance, the prologue of Romeo and Juliet says, From ancient grudge break to new mutiny,
Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean. From forth the fatal loins of these two foes A pair of star
crossed lovers take their life, Whose misadventured piteous overthrows Doth with their death bury
their parents strife. Here the writer proves, that the fighting between these two families only ended by
the tragic suicide of their children. As a result, pointless feuding usually leads to revenge. For
instance, according to the telegraph Killings of black men by US police officers lead to revenge
shootings across America . This is similar to when Romeo avenges Mercutio by killing Tybalt. In any
event, pointless feuds are a terrible idea that usually ends in tragedy!
It s easy to see how Romeo and Juliet are still relevant in today s society. Of course, it may be true that
the language is quite confusing, it doesn t change the meaning of their words. Moreover, just because
arranged marriages are not a normal practice in America doesn t mean the larger issues presented in
Shakespeare s tragic tale are not. So, from the forbidden love to the instability in youth to feuding, this
400 plus year old play is still relevant in today s society. In fact, considering our track record, I m

The Federalist 10 Summary
In The Federalist #10 Madison argues that the greatest corruption found within a popular government
is its vulnerability to the problems that arise from factions, which is a group of people who ban
together to protect their own self interest and are prone to intrude upon the rights of others. Due to
different self interest, man will support what he believes in, even at the expensive of others, if he is
given the freedom to do so. Madison expresses that by nature, man possesses different opinions,
abilities, and self interest and therefore factions are inevitable to human nature. Madison proposes two
solutions in order to cure the problem of factions: prevent the causes of fractions or to control the
effects of the fractions. Madison states that the two reasons that cause fractions are liberty and
differences in property. Madison suggests that if liberty is stripped from the people, it will then result
in the people to carry the same beliefs and opinions. Yet, liberty plays a crucial role in the forming of
factions, which is why it cannot be demolished since its consequences can be worse than ... Show

There is only one other solution to this problem, which is to control the effects of the factions with the
forming of a republic government with different parties. Madison strongly states that by having a large
republic, where the people elect representatives, the less chance there is for corruption. He further
elaborates on what actions to take in order to be protected against the tyranny of the majority or
masses. Those who govern are accountable for taking actions that will benefit for the greater common
good. In a large republic, people will invest their votes on the elects of office, which is therefore prone
to less corruption where as in a small republic it is easy for those to be fooled due to manipulation of
possible people running for

Utopia By Thomas Moore s Utopia
Thomas Moore s Utopia appears to be a perfect society where everyone is treated fairly and equally.
However, Utopia is not as egalitarian as it appears. This can be determined through the implications
about and restraints placed on women. The attitude toward women in Utopia may have been seen as
acceptable in 1516, but in contrast with today s standards this approach in the book towards women is
misogynistic and oppressive. In Utopia, values are critical to the preservation of peace in society. Yet,
these values do not include fair and proper treatment of every individual. Utopia appears to be a land
of no persecution but women still suffer and are harassed through the societal standards pressed upon
them as a condition of their sex. While the land of Utopia at first appears to give more rights to
women than many countries did at the time, it becomes evident that the treatment of women and their
rights are not representative of the supposed egalitarian principles applauded in the novel.
There are multiple cases in Utopia where conflict is evident between the treatment of men and the
treatment of women. There are many moments in Utopia when it appears that the women are equal to
men, only to turn around and suggest they are not. One of these examples is when Raphael Hythloday
is discussing the terms and conditions of marriage, or rather, conditions prior to even the engagement.
He says that Whether she is a widow or a virgin, the women is shown naked to the suitor by a

U.s. Involvement During The Korean War
US Involvement In the Korean War President Truman s desire to stop communism in the Korean
Peninsula resulted in the decision to join the Korean War. The catalyst for the United States
involvement in the Korean War is mostly due to the fear of the spread of communism, which was
caused by North Korea s encroachment and intimidation of South Korea, as well as the desire to
silence the Soviet Union. Other factors attributed to US involvement such as the Truman Doctrine, the
Domino Theory, and McCarthyism. The United States has a profound fear of communism and
honestly I think most, if not all, countries do as well. Communism according to Wikipedia, is a social,
political, and economic ideology and movement whose ultimate goal is the establishment of the
communist society, which is a socioeconomic order structured upon the common ownership of the
means of production and the absence of social classes, money, and the state. In plain terms, it is a form
of government in which no one owns anything, it all belongs to the state and everyone is equal no one
is above anyone else.
Now to some people that must give a euphoric feeling to have everyone equal. Well, the one deadly
factor that leads to disasters, anarchy, and deaths is us. The humans. Humans cannot live with
everyone being equal. We still have the biological need to make things ours and communism disables
the luxury of having private property and owning things in Kaminsky 2 general. Communism itself isn

  • 2. Black Panther Party Essay Huey Newton and Bobby Seale were two African American men growing up in the ghetto of California where they saw and experienced racism and police brutality. There voices were not heard when it came to their communities. It took three young children to die by car crashes, and a peaceful candlelight vigil that turned into a fight between a neighborhood and the police (in which the police covered up their badges so that no one could report them to the police department) for them to want to make a change to free themselves from control and oppression. It was because of this that 25 year old Huey Newton and 30 year old Bobby Seale founded The Black Panther Party for Self Defense in October 1966, in Oakland, California. The party was ... We want all black people when brought to trial to be tried in court by a jury of their peer group or people from their black communities, as defined by the Constitution of the United States. 10.) We want land, bread, housing, clothing, justice, and peace. And as our major political objective, a United Nation supervised plebiscite to be held throughout the black colony in which only black colonial subjects will be allowed to participate, for the purpose of determining the will of black people as to their national destiny (Freed 96 98). Their platform and its ideals intrigued blacks across the country, especially in the inner cities of the north. The Panthers were able to organize and unite these blacks; this alarmed the federal government. The Black Panthers eliminated the Self Defense label from their name near the end of the1960 s and became The Black Panthers in order to assume a better role with the community. The Black Panthers called for neighborhood control of such services as education and the police. Aside from being militant, they provided survival programs such as food giveaways, free health clinics, free breakfast programs for children and helped people to clean up their neighborhoods. • 3. The Pros And Cons Of Biological Weapons One of the reasons as to why the commission believes that terrorists are more likely to obtain biological weapons than nuclear weapons is because some biological weapons are much simpler and easier to make than nuclear weapons (Abramson, 2012). Moreover, the materials that are needed to create a biological weapon could easily be obtained from innocuous endeavors that improve the quality of human life (Abramson, 2012). On the other hand, if a terrorist organization would try to conduct a nuclear attack, then they would face many challenges that would be very difficult to overcome while also keeping the attack secret (Gerstein, 2010). One of these challenges would be acquiring the equipment and the infrastructure that is needed to create a nuclear weapon without raising any alarms to authorities about the intents of the terrorist organization (Gerstein, 2010). Then, answer each of the following questions fully and thoughtfully. Your responses must be typed (they may be typed directly into this document). 1. Discuss the meaning of the verse preceding the essay. The verse talks about how man is his own, he is in charge of his own life and fate. I think this means to be self reliant, to be yourself, be your own individual and be confident about it. Our lives can still be affected by the past like a shadow behind us but we cannot let it take control. 2. Looking at the entire essay, what does Emerson mean by self reliance? • 9. Differences Between Newark And Washington s 7th... Throughout all levels of American politics incumbents running for reelection have a huge and systematic advantage over their challengers. In this paper, the incumbency advantage will be examined through the lens of James Jim McDermott s continual reelection in Washington s 7th Congressional District and Sharpe James, the longtime mayor of Newark. James incumbency advantage is especially interesting in the context of 2002 mayoral campaign, where he was nearly unseated by Cory Booker. Both McDermott and James served their constituents for over 30 years and developed sizable incumbency advantages, though in some cases they were used in different ways. Looking at the differences demographically between Newark and Washington s 7th Congressional District can be striking, but if instead the incumbency advantage is considered, the similarities are wide reaching and fascinating. In this paper, six major elements of incumbency advantage will be looked at: name recognition, party advantage, redistricting, constituency service, focus on candidates and special incumbent privileges. Before comparing the incumbency advantage, the differences between Newark and Washington s 7th congressional district have to be examined. While the incumbency advantage is very similar in each region, the physical and demographical difference couldn t be starker. Canada had no direct ties to the Suez crisis, in terms of control or economic interest. However, Canadian Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Lester B. AMINO ACID SEQUENCE ANALYSIS OF THE SUBUNIT B FROM CHOLERA TOXIN PRODUCED BY Vibrio cholerae O139 CELIO CABRAL OLIVEIRA NUCLEOTIDE SEQUENCE ANALYSIS RUTGERS UNIVERSITY FALL 2014 INTRODUCTION Cholera is a tropical disease that causes critical dehydration. The bacterium, which can be found in contaminated water or food, produces the toxin that causes unusual fluid secretion (1). Even though cholera still causes several deaths, about 80% of the cases can be treated with rehydration therapy (2). In 2013, America had the highest number of cholera cases (Figure 1). The bold visual trick mixed with tight shot sizes allow every moment to be emotionally sincere; the audience can avoid distractions to the left and right of the frame and look the characters right in the eye. Even in the most calm of scenes, if there are three characters on screen, the sequence becomes that much more powerful. The ratio forces the audience to sit front row in the suffocating unhealthiness and, like Steve s mind, offers them no escape save for two fleeting moments when the frame expands to a standard aspect ratio. Per Mantsios, the upper fifteen percent control eighty five percent of the nations wealth. This attributes the other eighty five percent of the population the remaining fifteen percent of the nations wealth. The people born into a high economic standing can afford better education which prepares them for better jobs. And those who are born into a lower economic standing are more expected to enter low income schools and conditioned for labor jobs. Higher income families, those of the fifteen percent, are more likely to have children that will obtain a better education. This leaves the other eighty five percent of the population that make up the lower and middle class to seemingly reduced education and public schooling which is only available for free up until the twelfth grade. The population consisting of the lower class, who can t afford higher education, are less likely to continue to go to college; this only narrows their options for jobs. Those in the upper class will have a better education and obtain higher positions in companies than those in the lower class. We need a President with the compassion, empathy and understanding for the American people. I reiterate that Carson is an excellent candidate for 2016 presidential race. One could argue that these same attributes that make him the best candidates could also make him the worst. Here are a few examples: Carson is a humanitarian, who could never turn away thousands of refugees escaping social and economic injustice. There an intense focus on the character and motivation of the complainant. Traditionally, this focus has translated into a preoccupation with aspects of the complainant s behavior which is not immediately related to the circumstances of the offence. One example is whether the complainant provided a recent complaint after the assault. This focus also results in an extraordinary interest in the demonstration of proof of resistance by the complainant and the corresponding application of force by the perpetrator, though neither is an element of the crime. It is not mentioned in our conversations and that silence contributes to the continuation of domestic and sexual violence. As early as the year 800, rape was a capital offense in Anglo Saxon England. In 1769, William Blackstone, the leading eighteenth century authority on common law in both England and the colonies, defined common law rape as the carnal knowledge of a woman forcibly and against her will (Samaha). The definition boiled down to four elements: Sexual intercourse by force or a threat of severe bodily harm (actus reus). Intentional vaginal intercourse (mens rea). Intercourse between a man and a woman who wasn t his wife (attendant circumstance). Intercourse without the woman s consent (attendant circumstance). The common law required proof beyond a reasonable doubt of all four elements. In the common law trials, rape victims were allowed to testify against accused rapists; it was up to the jury to decide whether to believe them. But the victim s credibility depended on three conditions, always difficult (and often impossible) to satisfy: Her chastity, whether she promptly reported the rape, whether other witnesses corroborated the rape (womanslawproject.org). By the 1970s and 1980s was a time of major reform of sex offense laws. First, states changed rape prosecution procedures that had been in effect since the 1600s. Anyone who is referred should be planning a quit date within the next 30 days. Psychiatrist Dr. Norman Rosenthal (2012) suggests several steps that can enhance your emotional intelligence, many of the tips he suggests are found among the foundational skills toward successful collaboration discussed in the text by Friend and Cook (2013). Both Rosenthal and Friend and Cook place not interrupt or changing the subject high among skills that will help you to become a better listener. Listening with your whole body and being aware of physical sensations of stress will allow you to process your thoughts with the power of reason (Rosenthal, 2012). Additionally, all of the authors suggest avoiding prejudgments and making faulty assumptions. By not making assumptions and judgments before all of the information about a topic or conflict has been given prevents a thorough thought process from taking place. Rosenthal follows up this step with two additional steps that require the listener to seek to make connections with their own thoughts. He states that listening to your feelings is like listening to all of the witnesses in a court case. Only by admitting all of the evidence will you be able to reach the best verdict (2012). I think this advice makes an excellent tie into Friend and Cook s suggested listening skills namely, establishing listening goals, and focusing on the content and context of the spoken message (p. 67 68). One character who is liable for much of this excitement and outrage is Hamlet s mother, Queen Gertrude. To some readers and critics, Gertrude is conceived as an erratic, superficial and sensual woman. Others discern the Queen as an earnest, intellectual and sagacious woman whose tragic fault is her yearning for sexual satisfaction. A few characters in this play give insight on Gertrude that point in the direction of her being shallow and evil. One example is late in the first act when Hamlet cries O most pernicious woman! O villain, villain, smiling, dammed villain! This is when, deep in thought, Hamlet realizes that his mother could have possibly taken part in his father s death and he thinks she s evil. In Hamlet s head, everything makes sense now because it is now understandable how she got over the death so quickly. This is the first time that Hamlet realizes his mother s true character. This is a very imperative notion about Gertrude s personality because for her very own son to think a validation like this is extreme. Often times a man will love and defend his mother until the day he dies, while Hamlet, on the other hand, is thinking of her playing a role in his father s death. When the ghost speaks of Gertrude s speedy marriage, it provides more evidence of her shallowness. The King s ghost says that she is seeming virtuous . The Federalist 10 Summary In The Federalist #10 Madison argues that the greatest corruption found within a popular government is its vulnerability to the problems that arise from factions, which is a group of people who ban together to protect their own self interest and are prone to intrude upon the rights of others. Due to different self interest, man will support what he believes in, even at the expensive of others, if he is given the freedom to do so. Madison expresses that by nature, man possesses different opinions, abilities, and self interest and therefore factions are inevitable to human nature. Madison proposes two solutions in order to cure the problem of factions: prevent the causes of fractions or to control the effects of the fractions. Madison states that the two reasons that cause fractions are liberty and differences in property. • 34. Utopia By Thomas Moore s Utopia Thomas Moore s Utopia appears to be a perfect society where everyone is treated fairly and equally. However, Utopia is not as egalitarian as it appears. This can be determined through the implications about and restraints placed on women. The attitude toward women in Utopia may have been seen as acceptable in 1516, but in contrast with today s standards this approach in the book towards women is misogynistic and oppressive. In Utopia, values are critical to the preservation of peace in society. Yet, these values do not include fair and proper treatment of every individual. Utopia appears to be a land of no persecution but women still suffer and are harassed through the societal standards pressed upon them as a condition of their sex. While the land of Utopia at first appears to give more rights to women than many countries did at the time, it becomes evident that the treatment of women and their rights are not representative of the supposed egalitarian principles applauded in the novel. There are multiple cases in Utopia where conflict is evident between the treatment of men and the treatment of women. There are many moments in Utopia when it appears that the women are equal to men, only to turn around and suggest they are not. The catalyst for the United States involvement in the Korean War is mostly due to the fear of the spread of communism, which was caused by North Korea s encroachment and intimidation of South Korea, as well as the desire to silence the Soviet Union. Other factors attributed to US involvement such as the Truman Doctrine, the Domino Theory, and McCarthyism. The United States has a profound fear of communism and honestly I think most, if not all, countries do as well. Communism according to Wikipedia, is a social, political, and economic ideology and movement whose ultimate goal is the establishment of the communist society, which is a socioeconomic order structured upon the common ownership of the means of production and the absence of social classes, money, and the state.
