The Hundred Days Offensive In World War One
World War One began in 1917 when Archduke Ferdinand was assassinated.
During the war, there were the Allies and Central powers along with the many battles included. The
Allied countries such as Great Britain, France, Russia, Italy, United States and Canada were
opposing the Central Powers which were Germany, Austria Hungary,
Ottoman Empire and Bulgaria. The Hundred Days Offensive was a series of battles that led to the
ending of the first world war. It led to a serious advantage to victory in World War One.
Among the hundred days were many victories for the allied powers.
Generalissimo Ferdinand Foch took advantage of the disorganization of the German army and
ordered a counter offensive. Following the counteroffensive was the Second
Battle of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After this, Foch started plotting some amazing plans for attacks in order to defeat Germany. On
September 26th, the American Army attacked in the MeuseArgonne following by the British First
and Third armies the next day that attacked eastwards towards Cambrai. Following that was an
attack in Flanders and the grand finale, the attack on the Hindenburg Line. These attacks were
known as the four stage concentric offensive plan. These attacks brought Germans to their breaking
point and forced their own General Erich Von Ludendorff to seek for peace. A note was sent to the
United States president Woodrow Wilson which included the acceptance his
Fourteen Points for negotiations. Although it took many notes and discussions,
Germany finally signed an Armistice on November 11th, 1918.
Many battles were fought across the globe. Although The Hundred Days
Offensive wasn t a battle itself, it led many vicious battles which resulted to victory for the Allied
powers and brought an end to World War One. This was the happy ever after for the Allied powers.
With great leaders and ambitious ideas for attacks,
Germans had no

Analysis Of Fortune Hath Taken Thee Away My Love
Fortune fine or poor, remains a top priority in Sir Walter Raleigh s poem, Fortune Hath Taken
Thee Away, My love. Each stanza is drenched in depressing diction; as a result, not much of the
poem can be taken so literally. There are six quatrains in this poem: In the first quatrain, the
author introduces to the reader he has lost his love because fortune took it or her away; never in
the poem does the author give a specific answer as to who or what his love is. Although, in the
third line, Raleigh does refer to his love as princess, so we could assume the subject of this poem
and his love is female. Continuing on to the second quatrain, the man goes on to say fortune
took away everything from him, just by taking his love away. Because of this, the author now
makes fortune, itself, a mortal enemy. Next, in the third quatrain, the author becomes angry,
telling himself all of the reactions to the loss are in vain. He curses his eyes for weeping, his
sighs and his continued search for his love. Moving into the fourth quatrain, the author accepts
sorrow as his new princess, in place of the one he lost; he begins to accept his new loss. In
comparison to the second quatrain, in the fifth, the author is almost glad to be able to experience
any kind of fortune, due to the fact even kings experience fortune. Finally, in the sixth quatrain the
author brings in the supernatural force of Cupid. He goes on to say if Cupid had used wisdom s
eyes, the author would not be suffering as

George Orwell Dystopia
In the novel 1984 George Orwell takes experiences from his life and what he sees within the
government to create the dystopian novel we know today. Orwell therefore wishes to create a
circle of meaning between himself and his readers by turning his own political and social
writing into an art form (Roberts 15). Orwell uses his life to bring different elements like the
proles in 1984. The Government corruption during his time of life was something he was very
much against. Stalin was a major power at the time. Communism is something that Orwell was
very much against. He was more for Socialism. The purpose of his novel 1984 was to warn
people of Communism and the long term effects of it. Orwell was born in India, his real name
being Eric Arthur... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stalin is much like Macbeth. Macbeth was driven by ambition and greed to rise to power much
like Stalin. Stalin wrote a nota bene saying Terror is the quickest way to new society during the
Red Terror. The Red Terror was a mass killing of people in 1917 conducted by the Bolsheviks.
Forced labor for the peasants and around 700,000 people were killed during the Red Terror and
many others were tortured or put into slavery. The issues of the past or history is a running theme
throughout 1984. It is a complex engagement on materiality of the past. The government destroy
any piece of history that they deem wrong. This is distortion of the truth which is why the proles
are so important. They are brainwashed but they seem to know what has really happened. A
difference in Winston is that he looks at the little parts that build up London rather than be like
everyone else who look at London as just the three Ministries. The government s control the
people in many different ways. Telescreens are one way that they control their people. The
telescreens allow them to monitor and to scare the residents of London. Although the proles are
not monitored by the telescreens. Surprisingly we are very close to these becoming a reality.
Telescreens work on what is like a closed circuit surveillance

Case Study Of Lens CraftersOperations Strategy
1. Evaluate Lens Crafters operations strategy and explain how the organization seeks to gain a
competitive advantage regarding sustainability. Lens crafters is a United States organization
that deals with the manufacture of eyewear including sun glasses and is a large retail company
in the USA. It was founded in 1983 by a person known as E. Dean Butler. He was a manager at
Procter Gamble Company, which he afterward sold to United States Shoe Corporation in 1985
(Walczak, 2014). Since then, the eyewear company has expanded enormously with over 840
stores in Canada alone. The factors that led to its fast growth were due to his optimistic character
of business growth. He also was very knowledgeable and had a way to manufacture glasses on
order and within the stipulated time hence meeting the customers needs (Hill, et al, 2014). This led
to increasing revenue which in return contributed to the globalization of the company. Operations
Strategy An operation strategy is a means by which a company or organization sets a plan of
actions to run and meet the organization s goals and objectives. Lenscrafter has a unique strategy
that attracted a lot of customers to it. The approach is called differential strategy. This is a method
where a company manufactures and produces exceptional quality products that are different from
any other film (Liu and Ko, 2014). Lenscrafer used this style which attracted a lot of customers.

rol de gГ©nero, actos sexuales, orientaciГіn y aspectos de placer, intimidad y reproducciГіn.
Influenciada por factores biopsicosociales, econГіmicos culturales religiosos y espirituales, la
expresiГіn de la sexualidad y deseo por tener intimidad es complejo. No solo se trata de gozar de

Essay about Drug Testing For Missouri Welfare Recipients
On 30 January 2011, the Missouri House of Representatives passed a bill and sent it to the senate
that would require drug testing for those receiving state Temporary Assistance for Needy Family
(TANF) funds. Funding from food stamps, medicare, and public housing would not be affected by
this bill (Keller House). According to Columbia Tribune reporter Rudi Keller, the bill is very
similar to the Arizona law which is the only other state that testswelfare recipients. Missouri and
Arizona would use a questionare and interview which would determine which applicants to test.
The two states are also similar in their caseload of 45,017 people on assistance in Arizona and
42,885 in Missouri. The state would not be obligated to provide treatment... Show more content on

According to Keller s article, the law would protect children. It would discourage parents from
using drugs which would create a better home environment. It would also ensure that state
money would be used for supporting families, not recreational drugs (Keller). Rep. John
McCaherty said The bill will show the state expects TANF recipients to be responsible with
public money. (Qtd. in Keller). The idea behind those that support this legislation is that the state
is responsible for ensureing that taxpayer s money doesn t ultimately end up buying illegal
substances and drug testing is an effective means to ensure this. As with all political issues, there
are those on the other side of the fence. People oppose this legistlation for various reasons: from
constitutionality to cost. According to a study done by the American Civil Liberties Union
(ACLU), welfare recipients are no more likely to use drugs. Furthermore, placing a requirement to
be tested may place a stigma upon those receiving welfare which would be counterproductive to
their relief (Drug Testing). An editorial by Henry Waters in the Columbia Daily Tribune, the bill is
the government attempting to punish a class of people who are presumed worthless (Waters).
Another reason people oppose this legislation is the cost. The ACLU study reports the average cost
of a drug test at $42 per person. There are less invasive and cheaper methods to

Memento Movie Analysis
Memento Movie is a cast directed by Christopher Nolan. The movie is a Psychological thriller that
narrates the events that have driven the cause of the protagonist called Leonard Shelby to murder
Teddy. The movie has received serious acclaim for its special time sequence, which can be
attributed to both its chronicle and reversed order. The formation of the film serves two purposes,
to imitate the process of human recollection, and to allow the audience to understand the nature of
anterograde amnesia, a disease Leonard Shelby ails from.
According to Buckland, the film is very difficult to fallow and it requires to be watched at least
twice to fully comprehend all the director Christopher Nolan who doubles as an actor is trying to
pass across (2009). Leonard Shelby is suffering from Anterograde Amnesiaa disability which makes
it technical for him to comprehend new memories beyond the victimization before his trauma. In
the bid to cope with his Amnesia, he relates to a client has had while he was serving as an
insurance agent. The client goes by the name Sammy Jenkins and he has the same experience of
suffering from the same amnesia as Leonard. Initially, Leonard worked on Sammy s case while
attempting to prove that unlike his case, Sammy was mentally ill. Leonard narrates this story to
everyone in the attempt to explain his amnesia. Leonard s amnesia came about during an incidence
when he was struck in the head while trying to save his own wife, after two assailants invaded

A Presentation Of The National Nanotechnology Initiative (...
1. Introduction.
There s plenty of room at the bottom ; this statement by Richard Feynman in 1959 during a
presentation to a meeting of the American Physical Society, is widely accepted as the spark that
initiated the present nano age1. Nano, dwarf in Greek, is defined as one billionth, it follows that
the nanoscale is measured in nanometres, or 10 9 m. To put this in perspective; the average strand
of a human hair is roughly 75,000 nm in diameter, or from the other extreme 1 nm is the length of
10 hydrogen atoms lined up end to end.
Nanotechnology can be difficult to define, as its definition is often engineered to suit the researcher
and their field; this resulted in a need of a general working definition, which the national
nanotechnology initiative (NNI) established []. Nanotechnology is thus defined as possessing the
following features;
Nanotechnology involves research and technology development at the 1 nm to 100 nm range.
Nanotechnology builds on the capability to organize or manipulate at the atomic scale.
Nanotechnology creates and uses structures that have novel properties because of their small size.
.
2. Nanotechnology
Nanoscience involves a study of nanotechnology and nanomaterials, of which at least one of the
dimensions is in 1 100 nm range. Over the past two decades, nanomaterials have been a topic of
both scientific and technological interest2. Due to their compact dimension and enlarged surface
area, these materials possess new physical and

A Contrastive Analysis of Compliments in American English...
When a student gets a high score, his teacher usually says: Good job! . When a child
automatically cleans up the room after playing, her parents are likely to say: You are very good .
When you go to school wearing a new shirt, you probably hear from your friends: That shirt looks
nice on you . Those utterances are called compliments which are used to show that someone likes
someone else s appearance, belongings, or work etc. Due to different cultural background and social
values, English and Vietnamese native speakers have different norms of complimenting as well as
responding to compliments. In this essay, I will discuss the notion of compliment made in
American English and Vietnamese in terms of topics, formulas, and responses. First... Show more

For example, when a host prepares a good meal, an English speaking guest will say The meal was

linguists. According to Maines and Wofson (1981), nine popular ways to give compliment are:
NP is/looks really ADJ. (Your blouse is beautiful) I really like/love NP. (I like your car) PRO is
(really) (a) ADJ NP. (That s a really nice wall hanging.) You V (a) really ADJ NP. (You did a

ADJ NP. (You have such beautiful hair) What a ADJ NP! (What a lovely baby you have!) ADJ
NP! (Nice game!) Isn t NP ADJ (Isn t your ring beautiful?) The first three are also the most
commonly used structures in many countries worldwide. From the examples in part 2, we can
easily see that Vietnamese also follow these formulaic structures when we want to show our
appreciation to hearers. One difference, however, is that unlike American, Vietnamese rarely use
the first person pronoun but the second person pronoun in their compliments. That is to say they
will not say I really like your new haircut . A more appropriate way to express the same idea in
Vietnamese is Your

representations of gender and motherhood and uncover these discourses affect lesbian parents and
lesbians more broadly. The following sections divide into individual discussions of each cultural
text to reveal the cogs within each site. I then compare and contrast both texts to investigate the
tensions between both productions and how the discourses thematically collude. Finally, this

Reinforcing The Gender Binary
Jules and Nic are slightly ambiguous representations of butch and femme, yet the film overtly
reinforces binary gender roles in its homonormative depiction of the family. Nic presents a more
masculine identity: she has messy, cropped hair, wears little makeup, and wears relaxed fitting
jeans and button down dress shirts. Quick to anger and aggressive, she is a workaholic doctor who
operates on conservatism and logic. Nic is both the disciplinarian and breadwinner in the family. In
contrast, Jules is more visually feminized with long, smooth red hair, wears sexy lacy lingerie, and
flowy or fitted T shirts. Free spirit Jules is more liberal and acts the role of the nurturing parent.
Elements of feminine characterize Jules she is emotionally sensitive, compassionate and craves
intimacy (Martin 1996). These characteristics that construct Jules are antithetical to masculinity
(Crewe 2015). These roles suggest that Nic is the man and Jules is the woman. Continuing
throughout the film, homonormative discourse creates dissonance between Nic and the role of
mother.
As the man in the relationship, Nic performatively embodies a dominant, masculine fatherly figure
(Fox 4). Postulating a masculinized identity,

The Land Registration Act 1925
The statement above will be thoroughly considered and discussed .To commence with it needs to
be established what a register is.
The Land Registration Act 1925 first presented the structure of registered land, but later it was
cancelled out by Land Registration Act 2002 due to reviews and room for reforms. There are three
main sections: property register, proprietorship register and charges register.
Firstly Property register, this describes the property (the nature), the address and plans which are in
correspondence with the actual boundaries of the specific properties and also third party rights and
rights which benefit the property.
Furthermore there is Proprietorship register, this consists of the class of title and any entries which
affect the owner s right of disposal such as restrictions which could hinder how the property is dealt
with. Restrictions will also be included in the Proprietorship Register found under S40 Land
Registration Act 2002 , this results in the restriction limiting how the registered proprietorship can
handle the land. It requires that a certain procedure is followed when disposing of the land
.Furthermore this coincides with overreaching, this is where the purchaser of trust land can take
the land free from the beneficial interest under that trust
Lastly Charges register, which contains charges, in addition to other charges that have impact on
the land, in correspondence with the land any covenants and third party rights such as

Analysis Of The Book Marchers Of The Night
Whats In The Night The retelling of spooky ghost stories has been a favorite activity in many
cultures, wether it be around a campfire of written in various articles and book. Perhaps one of
the most mysterious supernatural activities can be reported on the islands of Hawaii. Known as
the Night Marchers, these spirits have been known to roam the land, revisiting ancient war sites
and significant historical landmarks. In the book, Marchers of the Night by Helen P. Hoyt, a
renowned Hawaiian author, he describes his first experience with the Huaka ipo, or the Night
Marchers. In all the hundred years of my life I have seen the Marchers of the Night, the Huaka ipo,
only twice... (Hoyt 1969). He then continues to explain how on the night of the sixth of August,
1918, a night sacred to Ku, ancient god of all warriors the Night Marchers, which their torches and
pounding drums came to his house in the town of Waianae. Based on the many stories about the
Night Marchers and the other cultures around the world who have similar spirits, I will attempt to
demonstrate that these ghosts are more fact than fiction. Hawaiihas a rich background of folklores
and mythology and it s link to the past in ever present. Stories of the Night Marchers were first
written about in the late 1900 s but they were orally passed down long before that. Their native
name is Huaka ipo, but was translated to english as the Night Marchers. The term derives from the

Fish Is The Best Flavor And Quality Of A Fresh Fish
Seafood has become more and more prevalent for people to want to eat these days. Fish in
particular, all kinds, has become a bigger want. There are more than 30,000 different species of
fish. There are different specifications such as the type, skeletal structure, and how the they are
harvested. Fish can either be domesticated or man influenced or wild harvested, which delivers the
best flavor and quality of a fresh fish. Fish can be purchased with many different options as well.
Striper, or also known as: striped bass, rockfish, linesider, roller, squidhound, or simply as bass, or
scientifically as Morone saxatilis. It is a coastal sport fish and native to pretty much the whole east
coast and is wild caught and farmed in some cases.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Oddly enough, striper is one of the California s top ranking sport fish now. The fish was
numbered at approximately 3 million adults in the early 1960s and about 775 thousand with
30% hatchery reared in the early 1990s; this was when the fish was in relative abundance. Over
the years last ditch efforts are being made to restore western fisheries. Striper, a round fish, has
several qualities that can be used to differentiate them from other fish found on the east coast. It
has a large mouth, which has jaws that extend backward to just below the eye. There are two
prominent spines on the gill covers. The first, most anterior of its two well developed and
separated dorsal fins, has a series of sharp and stiffened spines. The anal fin on the other hand,
which is about as long as the posterior dorsal fin has three sharp spines. Its upper body can either
appear to be steel blue, light green, olive, brown, or black depending on its ecosystem it lives in.
The lateral line that the fish has is marks their silvery sides and has either seven or eight
continuous stripes around it. Their bellies or undersides are typically white or silver, with a
brassy iridescence to it in some cases. Striper typically live up to forty years, five feet in length,
and reach weights greater than 100 pounds in most cases. The females are usually greater in size
than the males and when the stripers are over thirty pounds, most likely it is a female. The females
also tend to

What Measures Should Be Taken By Tourism
What measures should be taken by tourism businesses to improve the way in which they serve
Chinese travellers? Why should these measures be widely adopted?
Over the last decade, China has been by far the fastest growing outbound tourism market in the
world and the Chinese market is one of the tourism sector s major growth opportunities. Due to
rapid economic growth, rising disposable incomes and loosening restrictions on foreign travel by
the government, the volume of international trips by Chinese travellers has grown from 10 million
in 2000 to 83 million in 2012 (Cripps, 2013). Expenditure by Chinese outbound tourists has also
increased dramatically since 2000. With sustained growth, China has become the largest spender in
international tourism globally (UNWTO, 2013). This remarkable growth has drawn attention from
travel industry, from hotels to restaurants to destination as a whole, to adapt to this inflowing of
Chinese tourists various ways. An essential step to ensure destinations and tourism providers
develop and distribute products that effectively serve the Chinese market is to recognise the
behaviors and needs of Chinese travellers which become more dynamic than ever before (Gray,
2013). The overall satisfaction of Chinese tourists is also an important factor in creating an
appealing destination image for this market. All of theses facts suggested why there is a need for
tourism destination and business to adopt a diverse range of measures not previously

Identify and understand the conflict over settling Texas
Technology s Influence on America s Growth
The economy of the United States changing rapidly. By the 1850s, more people were buying and
selling goods instead of producing goods for their own use. Capitalism was leading this change that
gave private individuals and companies the right to own factories, machines, and land. Business
owners were now investing their own money to make profits.
Capitalism brought change to farmers lives, too. The increasing populations needed more food.
Farmers were starting to used machines to plant and harvest their crops instead of doing all the
labor manually. This allowed them to grow more food to sell. In turn, farmers bought
manufactured goods with the money they earned from selling crops. As the market for goods
increased, the prices came down and allowed more people to purchase items.
People bought themselves new conveniences, such as shoes and boots coated with rubber or a new
sewing machine. The telegraph allowed almost instant communication across great distances.
Steamboats reduced both time and cost of river travel. Canals were dug in regions without passable

How Does Aphra Behn Show Loyalty In Oroonoko
One of the key themes present throughout Aphra Behn s Oroonoko is betrayal based solely on
the concept of trust. Throughout history, fine literature has provided us with novels that reveal
betrayal as the base and themes of the story. For example, Oroonoko s deepest values of trust and
loyalty are turned against him. His trust in friendship and honorable truth to his word, expose him
to the treachery of Europeans/Africans who calculate human worth on a measure of profit and
fear. A man without his word is nothing. Trust is the basis of all human collaboration: without it,
our world wouldn t exist, as we know it. A hero cannot survive in such a world, a tangle of
assurance and betrayals. Behn uses betrayal in Oroonokoto represent the contrast... Show more

Clearly a man of his character doesn t care about friendship and honor, what drives a captain like
himself is profit. The more bodies he captures the more profit he gains, Seiz d on all his Guests;

Football Is Dangerous And Something That Should Not Be...
Football is considered to be dangerous and something that should not be played or watched by
people. The game should be played and watched because a lot of players work hard to fight

of injury. It is the player s responsibility to know when it is time for them to walk away and take

Leading Like A Great Conductor Essay
Watching the Itay Talgam: Lead like the Great Conductors video orchestra my favorite Conductor
style was that of the final conductor because he lead the orchestra with his arms completely
crossed and occasionally instructed with is his face when a section should begin to play or not.
A great leader is just like a great conductor being in a leadership role one has to find the best way
of seeing things from a different perspective. In viewing the video I saw that there were many
parallels that could be seen between corporations and an orchestra.
Like an orchestra conductor, being a leader within an organization bears the same challenges trying
to create perfect harmony among the different variables in your business to ensure your
organization creates beautiful products and profits, (Leaders, March 2013).
In leading like a great conductor, one will not just lead but must bring out the best in their team
members. Therefore, a good leader may use gestures, facial expression, and eye contact to create a
strong sense of connection and involvement within their team to accomplish their mission.
How would you implement the style of a great conductor style into your leadership methods?

Persuasive Essay On How To Tie
What comes to mind when you think of ties? We usually associate ties with professional
meetings, formal parties, or something that is really hard to tie and is going to choke us no
matter what. Ties date back to the 17th century, during the 30 year war in France. King Louis
XIII hired Croatian mercenaries who wore a piece of cloth around their neck as part of their
uniform. The purpose of neckties was to tie the top of their jackets, but also to have a decorative
effect. King Louis enjoyed it so much he made it a mandatory accessory for royal gatherings and
to honor the Croatian soldiers. I m sure that at some point, all of us have had to use a tie for
formal parties, meetings, or just because it is required in your uniform or attire. Did you know,
the most expensive tie ever made was for $220K. It had 271 diamonds and 150g gold (Tie A

looking at you and your tie. However, what if you didn t know how to tie it around your neck?

Franco and Fascist Spain
The long term misunderstanding and simplification of RIGHT vs. LEFT terminology in political
discourse is responsible for the misconception that The RIGHT with its emphasis on traditional,
nationalistic, conservative or religious values is inevitably a step in the direction of the FAR

common appeal to the masses and depend on a collectivist ideology that glorifies abstractions such

Many conservative supporters of the church, military and monarchy were concerned as much by
the leader of the Falange, Jose Antonio, (always referred to by his admirers and followers by his

conservative right, monarchist and centrist parties that opposed the Leftist Popular Front in the
elections in 1936 refused to enter into an electoral alliance with the Falange which stood isolated.
Jose Antonio had stepped on too many toes by his justifiable criticism of scandal and corruption

The Pros And Consequences Of Malaria
Introduction
Infectious diseases are the leading cause of death all over the world [1]. Malaria, also called
plasmodium infection, is one of the most important human infectious diseases threatening the lives
of millions of people every year. According to WHO malaria report, globally, an estimated 3.2
billion people in 97 countries and territories are at risk of being infected with malaria and
developing disease, and 1.2 billion are at high risk [2]. Although the disease has been eradicated
in most areas, it s still widespread in some regions [2]. The biggest challenges in controlling
malaria disease are the emergence of anti malarial drug resistance and insecticide resistance in
parasite and mosquito, respectively [3 5]. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop novel
intervention strategies such as vaccines to reduce the burden of malaria morbidity and mortality.
Malaria is commonly associated with poverty and has a major negative effect on economic
development [6]. Oral vaccines offer exciting possibilities for reducing the burden of diseases
especially in developing regions of the world. Oral vaccines are inexpensive, easily administered
(needle free) and capable of being stored and transported without refrigeration [7]. In contrast to
injected vaccines, oral vaccines are mucosal targeted, which cause stimulation of systemic as well

Diagnostic Overlaps

as they can overlap. According to our text the following defines both types of procedures.
Diagnostic procedure: a procedure performed to obtain information needed to make a diagnosis
and treatment plan. Therapeutic procedure: a procedure performed to treat a disease or
condition. Mammograms and colonoscopies are examples of diagnostic procedures. However, a
colonoscopy can be a procedure that overlaps and provides a therapeutic service. In the case of a
diagnostic colonoscopy where polyps are discovered and removed at the same time, the code would

Physicians routinely order a panel of lab tests for their patients however, that does not mean that
all the tests meet the requirement for medical necessity. This can be an expensive problem for
patients that are on Medicare and Medicaid. Physicians must provide patients with the ABN if they
suspect that these tests will not be covered. Labs can offer discounts to physicians through panel
pricing however by ordering a panel it might be that the patient will have to pick up the tab. For
example, the General Health Panel is not covered by Medicare and some other insurance carriers.
One lab in Washington State clearly stated on their site that it would be more appropriate for
physicians to order the tests individually and document the medical necessity of the test with the
appropriate ICD 10 diagnostic code. Custom profiles are panels that are often ordered by certain
providers to treat and manage their patient. However, the Washington lab discouraged this practice
but suggested that the provider meet with their marketing representative who has underwent

This is formed in the wake of lacking information and clear goals (Espeland, 2006). Direction and
expectations are needed to make sure a person feels comfortable with the job they are doing. If
there is no direction or expectations it becomes difficult to be confident that they are doing their
job. When a person is not confident in what they are doing then one can feel like they are
constantly making mistakes and can lead to an attitude of always being on defense. The second
concept is a no win situation where a supervisor or boss is not happy with the job a healthcare
worker does no matter how good a job the employee is doing (Espeland, 2006). Care givers and
health care providers always strive to do better and change if needed. If a supervisor or boss
gives you direction to change a way of doing things because they feel you are doing something
wrong, and then when you change they are still not satisfied a person can feel as if they can not do
anything to make the situation any better no matter what they do to change. The third concept is

Followers Citizenship Behaviors
What is power? Power is the ability to make another person to act in your stead. Likewise, Max
Weber defines power, the probability that one actor within a social relationship will be in a
position to carry out his own will despite resistance (Luthans, 2011, p. 313). An example,
politician presenting a bill to Congress and the bill passes due to having a majority of the vote
despite the other politicians arguing against it. Another way to describe power, organizational
behavior theorist Pfeffer says, as the potential ability to influence behavior, to change the course
of events, to overcome resistance, and to get people to do things that they would not otherwise
do (Luthans, 2011, p. 313). A child doing their homework because his or her parent impressed
upon them if they did not do so they will be punished. The parent influenced the child s behavior
through coercive power. The kid feared being punished, so he or she did their homework. Each day
power shapes our lives in our work, school, community, and home lives. We selected Ethics

Power is not just a unilateral process of influence from the agent to the target but it more involves
a reciprocal relationship between the two (Luthans, 2011, p. 319). This is confirmed by Reiley

interpersonal relationship (p. 72). Ethical leaders are able to lead more by their actions and by

Women Of The Victorian Era
Intro Throughout history, women are casted with the role of being docile, obedient, and fragile by
the traditional values of the patriarchy society. In the nineteenth century during the Victorian era,
men expect women to maintain the domestic sphere as a cheerful pure haven for them when they
return home from work. The cult of true womanhood which was believed by both the Northern and
Southern states at the time was based on four main ideas: the sphere of home and the competitive
world outside which contrast the female and male nature; the belief that the home is the female s
only suitable sphere; women s moral superiority; and the idealization for women to behave as wife
and mother. It was expected that the world outside of home belongs to men because of its brutal
environment and competitive atmosphere, and women belongs to the moral sanctuary of society
called home. There are other influences that furthermore constrict women by spreading ideas of
how women should behave. Books and articles written by female and male authors often ask
women to be religious, domestic, and womanly to glorify their feminine role and seek fulfillment
within their own sphere. However, many women refused to be constrained by male dominance,
propriety, and the ideology of feminine virtue that paralyzed many Victorian women. Some
expressed their grievances against male authority, stereotypes about women, and their lack of power
in political dilemmas by writing. Female authors such as Charlotte

The basis of case research is case studies (Voss, Tsikriktsis Frohlich, 2002). It is best to conduct
case research in capturing the knowledge of practitioners and developing theories from it (Benbasat,
Goldstein Mead, 1987).
Categories of case research
There are four categories of case research which are single case, multiple cases, retrospective
cases and longitudinal cases (Voss, Tsikriktsis Frohlich, 2002). i.Single case The single case
research is most effective at the beginning theory building but not theory testing. Since single case
research is used for exploration, hence, it may be followed by multiple cases research. Single case
research can also be conducted to test the boundaries of established theories (Benbasat, Goldstein
Mead, 1987).
ii.Multiple cases
Theory building or testing is usually done by conducting multiple cases research. As the name
suggests, multiple cases research permits cross case analysis and extension of theory. In addition,
multiple cases research yield more general result (Benbasat, Goldstein Mead, 1987).

Statistics And Its Impact On The Quality Of Data
Statistics is defined as a branch of mathematics used to analyze, explain summarize as well as
interpret what we observe in order to make sense or meaning of our observations. Every day in life
we encounter information that originates from diverse forms and ways. This means that to make
this information to have sense, there is the need to use statistics. However, due to its focus and
empirical on applications, statistics is classically considered a distinctive mathematical science
rather than a branch of mathematics (Chance et al, 2005). Thus, some tasks a statistician use are
less mathematical; for instance, making sure data collection is carried out in a manner that yields
valid conclusions, reporting results, or coding data in ways understandable to the users. Statistics
is known to improve the quality of data by fashioning specific survey samples and experiment
designs. It also offers tools used to predict and forecasting the use of data as well as statistical
models. It is applicable in many academic fields that include business, government, social and
natural sciences.
Descriptive statistics are entirely used to describe the sample under study. They are used basically
to describe the fundamental characteristics of a given data. They offer simple summaries
concerning the measures and the samples. When utilized together with simple graphics study, they
form the heart of practically each quantitative study of data. This means that descriptive statistics

The Theory Of Knowledge Is Power
Adonis Perez Professor Anderson Sociology 1 April 30, 2015 Sociology Paper Knowledge will
forever govern ignorance and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm
themselves with the power which knowledge gives James Madison In layman s terms, the quote
above means to say that knowledge is power. That whoever knows the most will be in control.
This concept of power is seen in all aspects of society worldwide. In every nation, the man that
knows how to work the law to his benefit will basically get away with anything, which is seen in
the courts on a daily basis. Someone with a higher degree of knowledge, and strong enough
tenure, manages the way individuals get educated. It is part of our reality, and in order for things
to change; there must be a change in the already instilled system. The solutions to the ongoing
problem are through Ethnomethodology, which relates to Mehans Five Features of Reality:
reflexive activity, a coherent body of knowledge, interactional activity, fragility of reality, and the
permeability of reality, or through Conflict Theory. However, even with these two methods of
possible change, the possibility of change actually occurring is slim to none. Society has complete
and utter control on the individual. This can be seen in any group of individuals ranging from the
youngest to the oldest. When society has been shaped through the mass mainstream media it forces
the individual to follow in the same steps as everyone else. If society

Convict Lease System
It is commonly believed that after the onset of the Civil War, Lincoln s signing of the Emancipation
Proclamation was the key driver to freeing the slaves of the south. After the Civil War, the 13th,
14th, and 15th Constitutional amendments were passed which aided newly freed slaves in being
equally treated under the law, or so the story goes. The fact of the matter is that even after the
Emancipation Proclamation and after the amendments, slaveryin the United Stateswas still legal and

Thus, slavery pulled white workers down in two ways: one, by direct competition with slave labor
in the South, and two, by associating all the industrious efforts of workers with those of the

Yet, there was a difference of opinion in the minds of Southern elites who wanted to continue
slavery, but on different terms.
Looking at the social order at the time is important to understanding what is to come. While the
slaves were now free and able to do as they pleased, there was still a deeply embedded racism
within the minds of Southern whites. Just because blacks had fought in the Civil War did not
suddenly mean that the perception of blacks had changed; rather to the Southern elites, they still
viewed blacks as inferior and only good for labor, longing to perpetuate the slave system but within
a new industrial framework seeing as how the agricultural framework had been destroyed. This new
system was to be found in through convict leasing.

Brave New World And The Island
Imagine a perfect world where everything is controlled; your job, your everyday life, even your
thoughts. You would never have to think about anything ever again, but Aldous Huxley, the writer
of Brave New World and Michael Bay, the director of The Island, both attempt to depict the dangers
of this utopia . Although Brave New Worldand The Island both successfully communicate satire,
Brave New World is better at eliciting people to think and change.
In both Brave New World and The Island, one aspect that communicates satire is the lack of
individual thought. For example, in both, everyone in the community has predetermined jobs. In
Huxley s novel, everyone is assigned a job based on their caste level; in Bay s film, people
automatically learn a job to advance society after being cloned. This shows the degree of a
government s control over the population. The societies represented here closely resemble
totalitarianism, [a] form of government that subordinates all aspects of its citizens lives to the
authority of the state, with a single charismatic leader as the ultimate authority (Merriam
Webster.com). Because nearly everything is designated to people or enforced strictly, people do not
think for themselves. Although this creates a stable society, it also creates a mindless society. For

Why Restaurant Will Order Fewer Calories When Provided...
Q2
2a) According to the first study, diners underestimate the calories in their foods. The experiment
that I carried out also proved that the average diner underestimates their food. Even those who said
that they were comfortable with determining how many calories were in an item, tended to fall
behind by a couple hundred calories, which is something that the study concluded.

Study#2
The main objective of study #2 was to prove that diner will order fewer calories when provided
with a menu that has nutritional labeling. To carry out the experiment, a team led by Amy
Auchinncloss, PhD from Drexel University School of Public Health, surveyed 648 customers at 7
different restaurants. Two of the restaurants that the participants when to... Show more content on

Afterwards, the diners who were given the standard menus ordered an average 817 calories, the
ones with the calorie printed menus ordered an average of 765 calories, and the ones with the
traffic light symbols had 696 calories on average. While this might not seem like a huge
difference, cutting back 121 per day can lead to a one pound weight loss.
Study #4
The main goal of study #4 was to evaluate the impact food labeling has on the amount of food
people eat and their calories. To assess this, 303 participants were randomly assigned to either a
restaurant that had menu with no calorie information, a restaurant with calorie labels, or a
restaurant with a menu with calorie information as well as the recommended amount of daily
calories for an adult. The study found that people who ordered off of the menus with calorie
information ended up ordering less than their counterparts as well as ate less food throughout the
day. Overall, the people who were given the menus with calorie labels ordered 124 less calories
and the people given the calorie labels plus the information ordered 203 calories less than those
who had regular menus. Afterwards, the people who were given the standard menu consumed
1630 calories, the ones with the calorie labels had 1625 calories, and the ones given calorie

One of the most greatest appearing earthquake in San Francisco in the year of 1906. It was
approximately 7.8 earthquake. The earthquake had hit buildings, schools, streets and houses.
Killing hundreds of people and injuring thousands. This earthquake began at an opera house and
ended up all throughout the streets in San Francisco. The Great San Francisco Earthquake may be
studied by examining the earthquake, the spread of fire, and the aftermath of the worst natural
disasters.
The night before the quake it was an average typical night in the windy city of San Francisco.

music had filled the building up with his beautiful singing. Enrico s voice was like a thunderbolt
which seemed to be rocking the Opera House. Little did the payed audience have knowledge of that
an earthquake was going to come in a matter of hours. Not only that but this earthquake was going
shatter the city into piece by piece, and destroy San Francisco including the Opera House. The
earthquake had shook the ground within twenty to twenty five seconds. Then, at 5:12 a.m., it had

The Concepts Of Contractionism By John Rawls And Political...
Abstract art steps back from reality to witness a world separate from the human experience. This
departure allows people to project their own meaning onto the piece. They all come from varying
backgrounds so their understandings of the art are all radically different. John Rawls attempts to
apply the same concepts of abstractionism into political philosophyto arrive at a set universal rules
and values. However, Rawls ultimately fails, giving rise to an either too limited or too vague
theory of justice. Rawls is not clear on how to access morality, who his theory applies to, and
whether or not his theory functions in reality.
Rawls acts to expand on the social contract making it more applicable to the needs of the least
advantaged. One of political philosophy s goals is for the government to find some underlying
basis of philosophical and moral agreement such that the citizens agree on its authority . He
postulates the current system of government, utilitarianism, is deeply flawed, because it allows for
the continued suffering of the most vulnerable in society as long as the majority benefits . Instead
Rawls proposes the veil of ignorance take its place. In this thought experiment, men are in the
original position, in which the parties do not know their conceptions of the good or their special
psychological propensities . He makes two general assumptions about human nature people are
inherently self interested and they are risk adverse. Thus, behind the veil, a

Pros And Cons Of Judicial Review
Judicial review is defined as the procedure where a court is able to review an individual or
organisation(s) appeal who feel that they have been a victim of prejudice and where individuals
can challenge a decision made. A judge can then review the legitimacy of a decision made by a
public body, where it can be disputed that it challenges the way a decision was made. Therefore,
judicial reviewis simply concerned with whether the right laws were applied to the right cases
and situations, thus being a powerful way to make the public body alter a previous decision made.
Over the past few year s, judicial review has been seen as an area of growth in the legal system and

For example, politician Peter Mallinson believes a judicial review into the council s mental
health funding could simply be a waste of resources 3 Therefore some argue that instead of
proceeding with a judicial review, it is better to settle things with the socials themselves to avoid
both cost and time. Another example is a case which also presents how judicial review can be a
lengthy process for both the government and the individuals involved, not only that but it also
challenges the decisions made on something as complex as murder. The case of Paul Alexander
Cleeland v Criminal Review Commission 4 is one example of how time consuming a judicial
review case can be. Dating back to 2002 the case was ongoing even in 2009, where the claimant
was seeking a fresh decision on a criminal conviction case and hence why some individuals may
believe that judicial reviews threaten the government by allowing people to challenge the way a
decision is made, even on more complex cases such as this one. The claimant who was of 66
year s age seeks judicial review for a murder case to the court of appeal which was refused on
29th April 2008. However, the history of this case had been a long and difficult procedure dating
back to February 2002 where the court of appeal had originally dismissed the appeal, the claimant
later made another representation which was

Peter Singer on Equality
In recent years a lot of suppressed groups have worked in an organized and active way towards
one particular goal: equality. The typical example is the Black Liberation movement, which insisted
on putting an end to the prejudice and discrimination that has made them inferior to other people.
The instant call of the black liberation movement and its success became an ideal for other
oppressed groups to go after. During the time other movements started to develop, putting the focus
on such issues as gay, women s and African American rights. Peter Singer gave a start to animal
rightsmovement, paying particular attention to how in former time permissible types of
discrimination and prejudice came to be seen as unjustly and dishonestly bias towards specific set
of people and that the hour has come for a much the same dedication to the moral and legal
entitlement of species that walk on four legs instead of two.
Singer starts his argument by supposing that the principle of equality or principle of equal
consideration of interests is a basic moral principle, which implies treating the interests of all
people as equally significant in spite of gender, color, or sexual orientation. Then he puts forward
the idea that we should reinterpret the theory of equality so that it relate not only just to all human
being but also to all sentient beings, by which he refers to all beings that have the ability to suffer
or enjoy happiness. Suffering is immoral, so we should stop

The Junction Gardens Business Improvement Area (BIA)
The Junction Gardens Business Improvement Area (BIA) is a small highly circulated art district
that runs along Dundas Street West. It can be found northwest of Bloor Street and Yonge Street and
is easily accessible by a variety of transportation forms. On October 13th, around noon, I had visited
the heart of this BIA at its major intersection of Dundas Street West and Keele Street with the aid of
the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC), which services thousands of commuters. Transportation in
the cityis a necessity to provide people a means of getting around town safely, promotes social

Premarital Counseling Essay
What is Premarital Counseling?
Premarital Counseling is defined as a type of therapy that helps couples prepare for marriage and
it is often provided by a licensed therapist. Therapist is known as a marriage or family therapist.
There are also the options of seeking counseling through your religious institution if that works
better for you and your future spouse (Mayo Clinic Staff, 2013) .
How to prepare for Premarital Counseling?
When embarking on any new venture in your life you need to follow steps that lead up to that
instant, so below is a checklist that you and your future spouse should follow in order to secure
that you ve chosen the right individual help in this big step. Before you and your spouse chose ...

Doing so will strengthen you and your spouse s relationship prior to marriage and perhaps get some
things in check first. Premarital counseling also teaches communication and conflict resolution
techniques. This will help to increase the level of marital satisfaction. It is also found/suggested
that greater communication skills reduce the risk of divorce. The counseling should also bring up
discussions that are vital to a couple s relationship. Whatever these things are they should be
hatched out before so there are no surprises in the relationship. These issues may be minor or
major depending on what s discussed. This may be a time to sort out like gender roles,
expectations, and finances most importantly. Premarital counseling is basically making you aware
of strengths and growth areas therefore insuring a happy and long future together as one (Stebbins,
2011; Duncan, Childs Larson, 2010).
Types of Premarital Counseling
As stated earlier there are various approaches to premarital preparation simply because there are
some many different types of people to connect to the different approaches offered (Duncan, Childs
Larson, 2010). Furthermore there has been no significant evidence that says that any one approach
is more effective than others (Duncan, Childs Larson, 2010). So based on information found

Child Labor Essay example
Child labor is considered as a form of child abuse, it being the exploitation of a child s rights and
freedoms. Therefore, child labour is when underage children are employed, this happens because a
child labourer is paid less than an adult labourer. Consequently employers have more children
working for them because they spend less paying the children.
Child labor usually means work that is done by children under the age of 15 (14 in some
developing countries) that restricts or damages a child s physical, emotional, social and/or spiritual
growth. 1
Child labour is not something that just recently evolved. As a matter of fact, child labour dates
back to the 1780s and the 1840s, where child labour was predominant worldwide. In 1788, it ...
Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although there are efforts to put an end to child labour in the world of today, they does not seem
to be enough. This is because even though there is a decrease in the number of children that
experience child labour, the change is not significant. The level of child labour continues to
increase. Presumably, in the societies where child labour is the way of life, only few individuals
master the courage to speak against it. Unfortunately, their voices are unheard. For instance, in
India there are efforts to lessen the number of child labourers, but culture always gets in the way.
This results in children working under very poor conditions that pose a danger to their health on
short term and long term scale. However, in Canada the law states that:
Section 72 imposes a statutory duty on every person to report certain suspicions are based, to a
children s aid society. 2
... a professional has a legal obligation to immediately report suspected child abuse. 3
Usually, there is a reason behind everything that occurs in the world. For instance, the purpose of
going to school is to educate ourselves so that we can have a bright future ahead of us. The main
cause of child labour is poverty, which is heavily inclined by culture which varies with different
societies. In India, culture is the way of life. Closely related to customs, culture this merely
provides guidelines to the people within a society on how to conduct their daily lives.

Fusion Research Paper
Fusion
is the process of combining the nuclei of smaller atoms(less protons neutrons and hence, a smaller
atomic number) to create a larger atom. In many stars, the process starts with hydrogen (H) atoms
combining to form helium atoms (He) then combining again to form Beryllium (Be) atoms and so
on... The process stops when all the atoms are converted to Iron (Fe) and the star is thus dead. The
reason for this is that once the atoms reach Iron and higher, the energy required to fuse the atoms
becomes greater than the energy released by the atoms.
Fusion occurs naturally in environments where a sufficiently large amount of matter is collapsed
under gravitational pressure that atoms are stripped of their electrons and nuclei have a sufficiently
low mean free path (i.e. their density is fairly high). The aggregate of matter forming such an
object is then usually referred to as a star.

distorts allowing the coulomb repulsion between the positive protons to overcome the strong
nuclear attraction and separate them this forms two highly energetic halves. these may increase
their stability by emitting neutrons, these are known as prompt neutrons. Other neutrons maybe
emitted later these are known as not surprisingly delayed neutrons. There are two types of fission,
the first is spontaneous (this happens without first absorbing a neutron) and more common neutron
induced fission which is as its name

Comparing Saramago s Death With Interruption, And Re
Saramago s quote Some people spend... speaks well to the depth of works and the recongnition of
themes within them. Stories create a broad path from beginning to end in order to engage a
reader, and sometimes even link these two ends to an extreme degree. Other stories, however, lead
the reader on a journey from the beginning to end, and they grow lost between what the focus of
the novel and what other subplots are trying to establish. Saramago, Sartre, and Marquez all show
how a flowing river of literature may seem to detract from the overarching theme of a work, but in
actuality enhance the reader s experience. In Death with Interruptions, Saramago establishes an
undercurrent of mystery, as why death has stopped. Until the end of the... Show more content on

Each individual has (and will) hurt each other, and that is what caused them to be there in the
first place. When Inez first meets Garcin, she is eager to begin her torture, so as to be tortured by
separation, she sets the scene for the end of the story (Sartre 8). Garcia realises the futility in
fighting against the hellish (a hah) environment he is in. Finally, Garcin says well, well, let s get on
with it..., thereby linking the cycle of the story (Sartre 47). Most of the middle section can be
considered just fluff and slight character development, but the majority of the action occurs when
the characters first meet upon their entry to hell and their acceptance of the fate that they have been
left with, not determining who they are in relation to each other. For the longest time, the three
have been fighting over (and sometimes for) each other, but the most momentous achievement is
when they learn to accept each other. This story teaches about acceptance, as even with a
murderer, an adulterer, and an abuser can get along, because they are condemned for eternity.
Europe has a long history of not accepting differences, from the early slave trade to more modern
examples like the Armenian Genocide. Sartre experienced a lot of this living in France during both
World Wars, and seeing just how brutal humans could treat others. Instead, Sartre tries to portray a
world filled with terrible individuals, but shows that eventually they must all have to get along with

  • 2. The Hundred Days Offensive In World War One World War One began in 1917 when Archduke Ferdinand was assassinated. During the war, there were the Allies and Central powers along with the many battles included. The Allied countries such as Great Britain, France, Russia, Italy, United States and Canada were opposing the Central Powers which were Germany, Austria Hungary, Ottoman Empire and Bulgaria. The Hundred Days Offensive was a series of battles that led to the ending of the first world war. It led to a serious advantage to victory in World War One. Among the hundred days were many victories for the allied powers. Generalissimo Ferdinand Foch took advantage of the disorganization of the German army and ordered a counter offensive. Following the counteroffensive was the Second Battle of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After this, Foch started plotting some amazing plans for attacks in order to defeat Germany. On September 26th, the American Army attacked in the MeuseArgonne following by the British First and Third armies the next day that attacked eastwards towards Cambrai. Following that was an attack in Flanders and the grand finale, the attack on the Hindenburg Line. These attacks were known as the four stage concentric offensive plan. These attacks brought Germans to their breaking point and forced their own General Erich Von Ludendorff to seek for peace. A note was sent to the United States president Woodrow Wilson which included the acceptance his Fourteen Points for negotiations. Although it took many notes and discussions, Germany finally signed an Armistice on November 11th, 1918. Many battles were fought across the globe. Although The Hundred Days Offensive wasn t a battle itself, it led many vicious battles which resulted to victory for the Allied powers and brought an end to World War One. This was the happy ever after for the Allied powers. With great leaders and ambitious ideas for attacks, Germans had no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Analysis Of Fortune Hath Taken Thee Away My Love Fortune fine or poor, remains a top priority in Sir Walter Raleigh s poem, Fortune Hath Taken Thee Away, My love. Each stanza is drenched in depressing diction; as a result, not much of the poem can be taken so literally. There are six quatrains in this poem: In the first quatrain, the author introduces to the reader he has lost his love because fortune took it or her away; never in the poem does the author give a specific answer as to who or what his love is. Although, in the third line, Raleigh does refer to his love as princess, so we could assume the subject of this poem and his love is female. Continuing on to the second quatrain, the man goes on to say fortune took away everything from him, just by taking his love away. Because of this, the author now makes fortune, itself, a mortal enemy. Next, in the third quatrain, the author becomes angry, telling himself all of the reactions to the loss are in vain. He curses his eyes for weeping, his sighs and his continued search for his love. Moving into the fourth quatrain, the author accepts sorrow as his new princess, in place of the one he lost; he begins to accept his new loss. In comparison to the second quatrain, in the fifth, the author is almost glad to be able to experience any kind of fortune, due to the fact even kings experience fortune. Finally, in the sixth quatrain the author brings in the supernatural force of Cupid. He goes on to say if Cupid had used wisdom s eyes, the author would not be suffering as ... • 4. George Orwell Dystopia In the novel 1984 George Orwell takes experiences from his life and what he sees within the government to create the dystopian novel we know today. Orwell therefore wishes to create a circle of meaning between himself and his readers by turning his own political and social writing into an art form (Roberts 15). Orwell uses his life to bring different elements like the proles in 1984. The Government corruption during his time of life was something he was very much against. Stalin was a major power at the time. Communism is something that Orwell was very much against. He was more for Socialism. The purpose of his novel 1984 was to warn people of Communism and the long term effects of it. Orwell was born in India, his real name being Eric Arthur... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Stalin is much like Macbeth. Macbeth was driven by ambition and greed to rise to power much like Stalin. Stalin wrote a nota bene saying Terror is the quickest way to new society during the Red Terror. The Red Terror was a mass killing of people in 1917 conducted by the Bolsheviks. Forced labor for the peasants and around 700,000 people were killed during the Red Terror and many others were tortured or put into slavery. The issues of the past or history is a running theme throughout 1984. It is a complex engagement on materiality of the past. The government destroy any piece of history that they deem wrong. This is distortion of the truth which is why the proles are so important. They are brainwashed but they seem to know what has really happened. A difference in Winston is that he looks at the little parts that build up London rather than be like everyone else who look at London as just the three Ministries. The government s control the people in many different ways. Telescreens are one way that they control their people. The telescreens allow them to monitor and to scare the residents of London. Although the proles are not monitored by the telescreens. Surprisingly we are very close to these becoming a reality. Telescreens work on what is like a closed circuit surveillance ... Lens crafters is a United States organization that deals with the manufacture of eyewear including sun glasses and is a large retail company in the USA. It was founded in 1983 by a person known as E. Dean Butler. He was a manager at Procter Gamble Company, which he afterward sold to United States Shoe Corporation in 1985 (Walczak, 2014). Since then, the eyewear company has expanded enormously with over 840 stores in Canada alone. The factors that led to its fast growth were due to his optimistic character of business growth. He also was very knowledgeable and had a way to manufacture glasses on order and within the stipulated time hence meeting the customers needs (Hill, et al, 2014). This led to increasing revenue which in return contributed to the globalization of the company. Operations Strategy An operation strategy is a means by which a company or organization sets a plan of actions to run and meet the organization s goals and objectives. Lenscrafter has a unique strategy that attracted a lot of customers to it. The approach is called differential strategy. This is a method where a company manufactures and produces exceptional quality products that are different from any other film (Liu and Ko, 2014). • 6. • 8. Essay about Drug Testing For Missouri Welfare Recipients On 30 January 2011, the Missouri House of Representatives passed a bill and sent it to the senate that would require drug testing for those receiving state Temporary Assistance for Needy Family (TANF) funds. Funding from food stamps, medicare, and public housing would not be affected by this bill (Keller House). According to Columbia Tribune reporter Rudi Keller, the bill is very similar to the Arizona law which is the only other state that testswelfare recipients. Missouri and Arizona would use a questionare and interview which would determine which applicants to test. The two states are also similar in their caseload of 45,017 people on assistance in Arizona and 42,885 in Missouri. The state would not be obligated to provide treatment... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Keller s article, the law would protect children. It would discourage parents from using drugs which would create a better home environment. It would also ensure that state money would be used for supporting families, not recreational drugs (Keller). Rep. John McCaherty said The bill will show the state expects TANF recipients to be responsible with public money. (Qtd. in Keller). The idea behind those that support this legislation is that the state is responsible for ensureing that taxpayer s money doesn t ultimately end up buying illegal substances and drug testing is an effective means to ensure this. As with all political issues, there are those on the other side of the fence. People oppose this legistlation for various reasons: from constitutionality to cost. According to a study done by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), welfare recipients are no more likely to use drugs. Furthermore, placing a requirement to be tested may place a stigma upon those receiving welfare which would be counterproductive to their relief (Drug Testing). An editorial by Henry Waters in the Columbia Daily Tribune, the bill is the government attempting to punish a class of people who are presumed worthless (Waters). Another reason people oppose this legislation is the cost. The ACLU study reports the average cost of a drug test at $42 per person. There are less invasive and cheaper methods to ... • 9. Memento Movie Analysis Memento Movie is a cast directed by Christopher Nolan. The movie is a Psychological thriller that narrates the events that have driven the cause of the protagonist called Leonard Shelby to murder Teddy. The movie has received serious acclaim for its special time sequence, which can be attributed to both its chronicle and reversed order. The formation of the film serves two purposes, to imitate the process of human recollection, and to allow the audience to understand the nature of anterograde amnesia, a disease Leonard Shelby ails from. According to Buckland, the film is very difficult to fallow and it requires to be watched at least twice to fully comprehend all the director Christopher Nolan who doubles as an actor is trying to pass across (2009). Leonard Shelby is suffering from Anterograde Amnesiaa disability which makes it technical for him to comprehend new memories beyond the victimization before his trauma. In the bid to cope with his Amnesia, he relates to a client has had while he was serving as an insurance agent. The client goes by the name Sammy Jenkins and he has the same experience of suffering from the same amnesia as Leonard. Initially, Leonard worked on Sammy s case while attempting to prove that unlike his case, Sammy was mentally ill. Leonard narrates this story to everyone in the attempt to explain his amnesia. • 10. A Presentation Of The National Nanotechnology Initiative (... 1. Introduction. There s plenty of room at the bottom ; this statement by Richard Feynman in 1959 during a presentation to a meeting of the American Physical Society, is widely accepted as the spark that initiated the present nano age1. Nano, dwarf in Greek, is defined as one billionth, it follows that the nanoscale is measured in nanometres, or 10 9 m. To put this in perspective; the average strand of a human hair is roughly 75,000 nm in diameter, or from the other extreme 1 nm is the length of 10 hydrogen atoms lined up end to end. Nanotechnology can be difficult to define, as its definition is often engineered to suit the researcher and their field; this resulted in a need of a general working definition, which the national nanotechnology initiative (NNI) established []. Nanotechnology is thus defined as possessing the following features; Nanotechnology involves research and technology development at the 1 nm to 100 nm range. Nanotechnology builds on the capability to organize or manipulate at the atomic scale. Nanotechnology creates and uses structures that have novel properties because of their small size. . 2. Nanotechnology Nanoscience involves a study of nanotechnology and nanomaterials, of which at least one of the dimensions is in 1 100 nm range. Over the past two decades, nanomaterials have been a topic of both scientific and technological interest2. Due to their compact dimension and enlarged surface area, these materials possess new physical and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. A Contrastive Analysis of Compliments in American English... When a student gets a high score, his teacher usually says: Good job! . When a child automatically cleans up the room after playing, her parents are likely to say: You are very good . When you go to school wearing a new shirt, you probably hear from your friends: That shirt looks nice on you . Those utterances are called compliments which are used to show that someone likes someone else s appearance, belongings, or work etc. Due to different cultural background and social values, English and Vietnamese native speakers have different norms of complimenting as well as responding to compliments. In this essay, I will discuss the notion of compliment made in American English and Vietnamese in terms of topics, formulas, and responses. First... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, when a host prepares a good meal, an English speaking guest will say The meal was delicious . In the same situation, a Vietnamese guest will say Chб»‹ nấu Дѓn ngon quГЎ! (You cook so well!) Formulas of compliment Formulas of compliment drew much concern from linguists. According to Maines and Wofson (1981), nine popular ways to give compliment are: NP is/looks really ADJ. (Your blouse is beautiful) I really like/love NP. (I like your car) PRO is (really) (a) ADJ NP. (That s a really nice wall hanging.) You V (a) really ADJ NP. (You did a really good job) You V (NP) (really) ADV. (You really handled that situation well.) You have (a) ADJ NP. (You have such beautiful hair) What a ADJ NP! (What a lovely baby you have!) ADJ NP! (Nice game!) Isn t NP ADJ (Isn t your ring beautiful?) The first three are also the most commonly used structures in many countries worldwide. From the examples in part 2, we can easily see that Vietnamese also follow these formulaic structures when we want to show our appreciation to hearers. One difference, however, is that unlike American, Vietnamese rarely use the first person pronoun but the second person pronoun in their compliments. That is to say they will not say I really like your new haircut . A more appropriate way to express the same idea in Vietnamese is Your ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My intention is to examine representations of gender and motherhood and uncover these discourses affect lesbian parents and lesbians more broadly. The following sections divide into individual discussions of each cultural text to reveal the cogs within each site. Finally, this comparative analysis considers who is harmed and who benefits from the disciplinary discourses of gender and motherhood these productions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Reinforcing The Gender Binary Jules and Nic are slightly ambiguous representations of butch and femme, yet the film overtly reinforces binary gender roles in its homonormative depiction of the family. Nic presents a more masculine identity: she has messy, cropped hair, wears little makeup, and wears relaxed fitting jeans and button down dress shirts. Quick to anger and aggressive, she is a workaholic doctor who operates on conservatism and logic. Nic is both the disciplinarian and breadwinner in the family. In contrast, Jules is more visually feminized with long, smooth red hair, wears sexy lacy lingerie, and flowy or fitted T shirts. Free spirit Jules is more liberal and acts the role of the nurturing parent. Elements of feminine characterize Jules she is emotionally sensitive, compassionate and craves intimacy (Martin 1996). These characteristics that construct Jules are antithetical to masculinity (Crewe 2015). These roles suggest that Nic is the man and Jules is the woman. Continuing throughout the film, homonormative discourse creates dissonance between Nic and the role of mother. As the man in the relationship, Nic performatively embodies a dominant, masculine fatherly figure (Fox 4). Postulating a masculinized identity, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. The Land Registration Act 1925 The statement above will be thoroughly considered and discussed .To commence with it needs to be established what a register is. The Land Registration Act 1925 first presented the structure of registered land, but later it was cancelled out by Land Registration Act 2002 due to reviews and room for reforms. There are three main sections: property register, proprietorship register and charges register. Firstly Property register, this describes the property (the nature), the address and plans which are in correspondence with the actual boundaries of the specific properties and also third party rights and rights which benefit the property. Furthermore there is Proprietorship register, this consists of the class of title and any entries which affect the owner s right of disposal such as restrictions which could hinder how the property is dealt with. Restrictions will also be included in the Proprietorship Register found under S40 Land Registration Act 2002 , this results in the restriction limiting how the registered proprietorship can handle the land. It requires that a certain procedure is followed when disposing of the land .Furthermore this coincides with overreaching, this is where the purchaser of trust land can take the land free from the beneficial interest under that trust Lastly Charges register, which contains charges, in addition to other charges that have impact on the land, in correspondence with the land any covenants and third party rights such as ... • 15. Analysis Of The Book Marchers Of The Night Whats In The Night The retelling of spooky ghost stories has been a favorite activity in many cultures, wether it be around a campfire of written in various articles and book. Perhaps one of the most mysterious supernatural activities can be reported on the islands of Hawaii. Known as the Night Marchers, these spirits have been known to roam the land, revisiting ancient war sites and significant historical landmarks. In the book, Marchers of the Night by Helen P. Hoyt, a renowned Hawaiian author, he describes his first experience with the Huaka ipo, or the Night Marchers. In all the hundred years of my life I have seen the Marchers of the Night, the Huaka ipo, only twice... (Hoyt 1969). He then continues to explain how on the night of the sixth of August, 1918, a night sacred to Ku, ancient god of all warriors the Night Marchers, which their torches and pounding drums came to his house in the town of Waianae. Based on the many stories about the Night Marchers and the other cultures around the world who have similar spirits, I will attempt to demonstrate that these ghosts are more fact than fiction. Hawaiihas a rich background of folklores and mythology and it s link to the past in ever present. Stories of the Night Marchers were first written about in the late 1900 s but they were orally passed down long before that. Oddly enough, striper is one of the California s top ranking sport fish now. The fish was numbered at approximately 3 million adults in the early 1960s and about 775 thousand with 30% hatchery reared in the early 1990s; this was when the fish was in relative abundance. Over the years last ditch efforts are being made to restore western fisheries. Striper, a round fish, has several qualities that can be used to differentiate them from other fish found on the east coast. It has a large mouth, which has jaws that extend backward to just below the eye. There are two prominent spines on the gill covers. The first, most anterior of its two well developed and separated dorsal fins, has a series of sharp and stiffened spines. The anal fin on the other hand, which is about as long as the posterior dorsal fin has three sharp spines. Its upper body can either appear to be steel blue, light green, olive, brown, or black depending on its ecosystem it lives in. The lateral line that the fish has is marks their silvery sides and has either seven or eight continuous stripes around it. Their bellies or undersides are typically white or silver, with a brassy iridescence to it in some cases. Striper typically live up to forty years, five feet in length, and reach weights greater than 100 pounds in most cases. The females are usually greater in size than the males and when the stripers are over thirty pounds, most likely it is a female. The females also tend to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Why should these measures be widely adopted? Over the last decade, China has been by far the fastest growing outbound tourism market in the world and the Chinese market is one of the tourism sector s major growth opportunities. Due to rapid economic growth, rising disposable incomes and loosening restrictions on foreign travel by the government, the volume of international trips by Chinese travellers has grown from 10 million in 2000 to 83 million in 2012 (Cripps, 2013). Expenditure by Chinese outbound tourists has also increased dramatically since 2000. With sustained growth, China has become the largest spender in international tourism globally (UNWTO, 2013). This remarkable growth has drawn attention from travel industry, from hotels to restaurants to destination as a whole, to adapt to this inflowing of Chinese tourists various ways. An essential step to ensure destinations and tourism providers develop and distribute products that effectively serve the Chinese market is to recognise the behaviors and needs of Chinese travellers which become more dynamic than ever before (Gray, 2013). The overall satisfaction of Chinese tourists is also an important factor in creating an appealing destination image for this market. An example, politician presenting a bill to Congress and the bill passes due to having a majority of the vote despite the other politicians arguing against it. • 31. Women Of The Victorian Era Intro Throughout history, women are casted with the role of being docile, obedient, and fragile by the traditional values of the patriarchy society. In the nineteenth century during the Victorian era, men expect women to maintain the domestic sphere as a cheerful pure haven for them when they return home from work. The cult of true womanhood which was believed by both the Northern and Southern states at the time was based on four main ideas: the sphere of home and the competitive world outside which contrast the female and male nature; the belief that the home is the female s only suitable sphere; women s moral superiority; and the idealization for women to behave as wife and mother. It was expected that the world outside of home belongs to men because of its brutal environment and competitive atmosphere, and women belongs to the moral sanctuary of society called home. There are other influences that furthermore constrict women by spreading ideas of how women should behave. Books and articles written by female and male authors often ask women to be religious, domestic, and womanly to glorify their feminine role and seek fulfillment within their own sphere. However, many women refused to be constrained by male dominance, propriety, and the ideology of feminine virtue that paralyzed many Victorian women. Some expressed their grievances against male authority, stereotypes about women, and their lack of power in political dilemmas by writing. Female authors such as Charlotte ... The Theory Of Knowledge Is Power Adonis Perez Professor Anderson Sociology 1 April 30, 2015 Sociology Paper Knowledge will forever govern ignorance and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives James Madison In layman s terms, the quote above means to say that knowledge is power. That whoever knows the most will be in control. This concept of power is seen in all aspects of society worldwide. In every nation, the man that knows how to work the law to his benefit will basically get away with anything, which is seen in the courts on a daily basis. Someone with a higher degree of knowledge, and strong enough tenure, manages the way individuals get educated. It is part of our reality, and in order for things to change; there must be a change in the already instilled system. The solutions to the ongoing problem are through Ethnomethodology, which relates to Mehans Five Features of Reality: reflexive activity, a coherent body of knowledge, interactional activity, fragility of reality, and the permeability of reality, or through Conflict Theory. However, even with these two methods of possible change, the possibility of change actually occurring is slim to none. Society has complete and utter control on the individual. This can be seen in any group of individuals ranging from the youngest to the oldest. Yet, there was a difference of opinion in the minds of Southern elites who wanted to continue slavery, but on different terms. Looking at the social order at the time is important to understanding what is to come. While the slaves were now free and able to do as they pleased, there was still a deeply embedded racism within the minds of Southern whites. Just because blacks had fought in the Civil War did not suddenly mean that the perception of blacks had changed; rather to the Southern elites, they still viewed blacks as inferior and only good for labor, longing to perpetuate the slave system but within a new industrial framework seeing as how the agricultural framework had been destroyed. This new system was to be found in through convict leasing. With the end of reconstruction and a change power in the South, the nature of both crime and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The scene I am analyzing is the final performance scene. In this scene, Nina finally becomes the black swan by killing herself, making herself having the perfect performance she has always dreamed of. The lighting on the stage is set up the way it is to make it seem like we are in the theater watching the performance, yet we see through Nina s eyes as she takes her last glimpse at her successful performance. The lighting reminds me of a spotlight. The whole stage is lit up and beautiful, while the crowd is dark. You would never have to think about anything ever again, but Aldous Huxley, the writer of Brave New World and Michael Bay, the director of The Island, both attempt to depict the dangers of this utopia . Although Brave New Worldand The Island both successfully communicate satire, Brave New World is better at eliciting people to think and change. In both Brave New World and The Island, one aspect that communicates satire is the lack of individual thought. For example, in both, everyone in the community has predetermined jobs. In Huxley s novel, everyone is assigned a job based on their caste level; in Bay s film, people automatically learn a job to advance society after being cloned. This shows the degree of a government s control over the population. The societies represented here closely resemble totalitarianism, [a] form of government that subordinates all aspects of its citizens lives to the authority of the state, with a single charismatic leader as the ultimate authority (Merriam Webster.com). Because nearly everything is designated to people or enforced strictly, people do not think for themselves. Although this creates a stable society, it also creates a mindless society. This departure allows people to project their own meaning onto the piece. They all come from varying backgrounds so their understandings of the art are all radically different. John Rawls attempts to apply the same concepts of abstractionism into political philosophyto arrive at a set universal rules and values. However, Rawls ultimately fails, giving rise to an either too limited or too vague theory of justice. Rawls is not clear on how to access morality, who his theory applies to, and whether or not his theory functions in reality. Rawls acts to expand on the social contract making it more applicable to the needs of the least advantaged. One of political philosophy s goals is for the government to find some underlying basis of philosophical and moral agreement such that the citizens agree on its authority . He postulates the current system of government, utilitarianism, is deeply flawed, because it allows for the continued suffering of the most vulnerable in society as long as the majority benefits . Instead Rawls proposes the veil of ignorance take its place. In this thought experiment, men are in the original position, in which the parties do not know their conceptions of the good or their special psychological propensities . • 50. Peter Singer on Equality In recent years a lot of suppressed groups have worked in an organized and active way towards one particular goal: equality. The typical example is the Black Liberation movement, which insisted on putting an end to the prejudice and discrimination that has made them inferior to other people. The instant call of the black liberation movement and its success became an ideal for other oppressed groups to go after. During the time other movements started to develop, putting the focus on such issues as gay, women s and African American rights. Peter Singer gave a start to animal rightsmovement, paying particular attention to how in former time permissible types of discrimination and prejudice came to be seen as unjustly and dishonestly bias towards specific set of people and that the hour has come for a much the same dedication to the moral and legal entitlement of species that walk on four legs instead of two. Singer starts his argument by supposing that the principle of equality or principle of equal consideration of interests is a basic moral principle, which implies treating the interests of all people as equally significant in spite of gender, color, or sexual orientation. Then he puts forward the idea that we should reinterpret the theory of equality so that it relate not only just to all human being but also to all sentient beings, by which he refers to all beings that have the ability to suffer or enjoy happiness. Presumably, in the societies where child labour is the way of life, only few individuals master the courage to speak against it. Unfortunately, their voices are unheard. • 56. Fusion Research Paper Fusion is the process of combining the nuclei of smaller atoms(less protons neutrons and hence, a smaller atomic number) to create a larger atom. In many stars, the process starts with hydrogen (H) atoms combining to form helium atoms (He) then combining again to form Beryllium (Be) atoms and so on... The process stops when all the atoms are converted to Iron (Fe) and the star is thus dead. The reason for this is that once the atoms reach Iron and higher, the energy required to fuse the atoms becomes greater than the energy released by the atoms. Fusion occurs naturally in environments where a sufficiently large amount of matter is collapsed under gravitational pressure that atoms are stripped of their electrons and nuclei have a sufficiently low mean free path (i.e. their density is fairly high).
