A Rose For Emily Literary Analysis Essay
Crafting a literary analysis essay on the given topic is undoubtedly a challenging endeavor that
requires a deep understanding of William Faulkner's "A Rose for Emily." This iconic short story
delves into complex themes, intricate character developments, and subtle symbolism, demanding
an analytical lens that goes beyond the surface narrative.
One of the primary challenges lies in unraveling the layers of Emily Grierson's character. Her
enigmatic nature, coupled with the non-linear structure of the narrative, makes it essential for the
essayist to navigate through the timelines adeptly, discerning the motivations and implications of
her actions.
Moreover, the symbolic elements scattered throughout the story, such as the decaying mansion,
the rose, and the mysterious room, pose another layer of complexity. Successfully interpreting
these symbols requires a keen literary insight and an ability to connect them to broader thematic
concepts.
Balancing the exploration of character and symbolism with a thorough examination of Faulkner's
narrative style adds an additional dimension of difficulty. Faulkner's use of unreliable narration
and the Southern Gothic genre introduces challenges in conveying the nuances of the story
effectively.
In constructing an essay, the writer must not only provide a coherent analysis but also ensure
that their arguments are well-supported by textual evidence. Extracting pertinent quotes and
seamlessly integrating them into the analysis requires a meticulous approach.
Moreover, conveying one's thoughts in a structured and articulate manner is pivotal. The
challenge lies in avoiding a mere summary of the plot and instead, delving into the underlying
complexities and subtleties that make "A Rose for Emily" a literary masterpiece.
In conclusion, writing a literary analysis essay on "A Rose for Emily" demands intellectual rigor,
a nuanced understanding of Faulkner's narrative techniques, and the ability to synthesize
complex thematic elements. It is a task that requires dedication, critical thinking, and a profound
appreciation for the intricacies of the written word.

Feeding American Food Bank Essay
Have you ever donated food to a local food bank? If you haven t or don t know what
a food bank is, I am hoping that you will by the end of this paper. Did you know
food banks have their own type of a free market? While reading this article, Sending
potatoes to Idaho, I discovered many interesting facts about food banks that I didn t
know. I have learned what a free marketis and how foodbanks have been able to
apply this economic principle to run more efficiently. Before 2005, Feeding America
food banks would just keep what was donated to them or new donations went to the
food banks that had been waiting for a long time. This method of collecting and
distributing food seemed to work, but they didn t consider what certain food banks

They are also able to barter items. Bartering is when someone trades goods or
services that they have for goods or services they need. By bartering, then can
negotiate equal values of goods or services to trade. For example, if a food bank
has extra canned goods, they can barter with another food bank that has excess
fresh produce. There are food banks all over the United States, and they each can
grow or specialize in different things. This variety is critical to the free market
system being used by the food banks. This way everyone sort of shares what they
have, and it gets distributed equally. Feeding America started its own market and
they made their own type of currency. Making your own currency is difficult
because there are many factors that you must consider. How are they supposed to
decide who gets how much, or how do they make it so the prices can fluctuate and
have the price level remain somewhat stable? Switching over to a free market system
came with a lot of those questions, but for the most part everyone seems to like the
system. They have had no major problems with the new

Influence Of My Personal Identity
A person s identity is shaped by many different aspects. Family, culture, friends,
personal interests and surrounding environments are all factors that tend to help
shape a person s identity. Some factors may have more of an influence than others
and some may not have any influence at all. As a person grows up in a family, they
are influenced by many aspects of their life. Family and culture may influence a
persons sense of responsibilities, ethicsand morals, tastes in music, humor and sports,
and many other aspects of life. Friends and surrounding environments may influence
a person s taste in clothing, music, speech, and social activities. Personal interests are
what truly set individuals apart. An individualis not a puppet on the string of their
puppet master, nor a chess piece on their master s game board, individuals choose
their own paths in life. They accomplish, or strive to accomplish, goals that they
have set for themselves throughout their lifetime. Individuals are different from
any other individual in the world because they live their own life rather than
following a crowd of puppets. A person s identity is defined by what shaped it in
the first place, why they chose to be who they are, and what makes them different
from everybody else in the world. I feel that I have developed most of my identity
from my own dreams, fantasies, friends, and idols.

Gases During The Holocaust
A huge number of people were killed in gas chambers during the Holocaust. The
gas they used during the Holocaust was called Zyklon B. It was packed into pipes
that would spray out of showers. Usually women and children were gassed and
they were not told it was going to happen. Many people would be crowded into a
room with many showerheads in it, being told they would be able to wash off.
However, when the doors would close, the gas would begin to pour out of them into
the air. Zyklon Breacts with the air, so everyone was killed after only a short amount
of time in the gassing chambers. It is really sad that all these people were murdered
in such brutal ways during the Holocaust. I drew a girl, curled up against a wall in a

Code Of Ethics Of The American Medical Association Essay
1.Write a short summary of a professional code of ethics, preferably one germane to
your major or field (e.g., Code of Ethics of the National Society of Engineers; Code
of Ethics of the American Medical Association; Code of Ethics for the Association of
American Educators)
The first part of the Association of Information Technology Professionals document,
lists six major stockholders that IT professionals are obligated towards. These
include: management, fellow members, society, employers, college or university and
country. The Standards of Conduct then further break down four of these areas
(management, fellow members, society and employers). First; however, it reminds
the reader that these are rules above and beyond the appropriate laws of country and
community. Some common bullet points within each section are as follows. Firstly,
most talk about having an obligation to have up to date knowledge. Secondly, almost
all talk about either taking responsibility for your work or at the very least not taking
credit for the work of others. Thirdly, honesty is a big player whether that be through
misinforming employers or society to interactions with fellow members. Along with
honesty is the command to protect confidential information that is placed in our
authority. Lastly, in every section there is a focus on not taking advantage of the
knowledge or inexperience of others for personal gain.
2.Write a short reflection on the code of ethics you chose. Consider the
Self-efficacy and Factors Influencing Motivation of Students
Self efficacy is the belief that someone has the inherent ability to achieve a goal. A
student who has a high self efficacy allows himself to believe that he can be
successfully academically.(Bozo Flint, 2008) He believes that a challenging
problem is a task that can be mastered This student is more committed to work in
the classroom. (Schunk,1991). On the other hand, a student who has a low level
of self efficacy is likely to be academically motivated. He is more likely to avoid a
task that is difficult, give up, make excuses, or lose confidence in his abilities
(Margolis McCabe, 2006). This failure becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. Teachers
need to find ways to motivate these students by increasing their self efficacy. A...

Also, I should be sure to engage the student in conversation about why he was
successful in an attempt to relate effort to success. This results in a higher self
efficacy as the student is able to complete more tasks and, therefore, believe in his
abilities. Goal setting is another useful strategy. The student identifies short term
academic goals. An assignment is broken up into smaller tasks and immediate
rewards and/or feedback are given as the child reaches each short term goal. Goal
setting can be used with any of the strategies mentioned above. For example, in the
writing assignment he could say, I will follow all my writing steps as I complete a
personal narrative. A goal for the ABC chart could be I will fill in 16 out of 26
letters in my ABC chart. As the student identifies that he has reached his goal, he
realizes that he can be successful and his self efficacy slowly increases. The student
begins to make positive judgements that he can be academically successful. It is vital
for all teachers to determine how to foster the development of each child s self
efficacy to support increase motivation. There are many activities that can be created
in the classroom to help a student have a higher self efficacy. Regardless of the
strategy, each activity helps the student feel that he or she can be academically
successful.
Many arguments have been made regarding the fairness and discrimination of

Benefits Of The GI Bill
GI Bill: The Servicemen Readjustment Act of 1944
In World War I, the servicemen had postponed benefits that were promised to them.
This caused political turmoil and the response was the Servicemen Readjustment
Act of 1944, which is also known as the GI Bill. This bill provided a range of
benefits for the returning World War II veterans. The GI Bill made a step in the right
direction to ensure rightful benefits to the veterans, but did have faults. The American
Legion played an important role in the enactment of the bill. The GI Bill did not
advocate discrimination, but had been interpreted differently for African Americans.
The bill also did not include Merchant Marines, which were carriers and ships that
delivered war supplies to the soldiers. Over the years, adjustments to the GI Bill were
made.
The Servicemen Readjustment Act of 1944 was enacted after the soldiers of World
War I had come back from the war and had troubles making ends meet. The soldiers
had help from government benefits, but the benefits were not enough to help
soldiers transitioning back to the work force. Congress had stepped in and made the
Act of 1924. This Act promised a bonus that was based on the number of days that
were served in the military. However, this bonus was not put into action until 20
years later, which was too late for struggling soldiers. A group of veterans called the
Bonus Marchers was composed up of 17,000 United States World War I veterans,
veterans families, and other groups that were affiliated with them. The Bonus
Marchers marched to the Capitol in Washington, D.C. and demanded the bonus that
they were promised. The government did not convey and ended up sending out U.S.
troops against the WWI veterans under President Hoover s demands. This movement,
putting veterans against soldiers, was a turning point in veterans rights.
President Franklin D. Roosevelt was determined to right the wrong that was done to
the veterans. On June 22, 1944, the GI Bill was signed into law. February 17, 1944
marks the date that the American Legion began their daily meetings on how to get
the GI Bill of Rights passed. Other veteran affiliated organizations that played a role

How History Has Shaped The World
From the beginning of time, humans have been developing physically and mentally
into the brightest and most successful beings on earth. We ve discovered lands,
invented medicines and technology, and endured through catastrophic episodes.
Everything we use in our daily lives has evolved from its original state. Some life
changing events occurred last year, or maybe centuries ago. Most people couldn t
care less how, why, when, and where occasions were taken place and think learning
about the pastis useless, but I have to disagree. As a student who has been taking
social studies classes since the 1st grade, I believe learning about historical people
and events that have shaped the world into being what it is today, is important. History
is very important to me because it dwells within the past and tells its events so
thoroughly that you can almost imagine yourself living in that period. Plus,
knowing the tragedies and mistakes made in the past had and still helps us build a
fair and just lifestyle. Studying history gives people the answers they ve been
wondering about, such as curiosity of how and why World War II is an unforgettable
piece of the past we all know about.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I ve always loved learning about the Salem Witch Trials because it s fun to believe
that witches, these supernatural beings, once roamed around the Earth. World War II
is another appealing event that I m excited to learn about this year. The fact that Jews
who did nothing bad were locked in concentration camps and tortured/experimented

Cultural Artifacts In The Wizard Of Oz
Cultural Artifacts
My first work is the American film, The Wizard of Oz, directed by Viktor Fleming.
The film was released in 1939 and is also a musical. The screenplay was written by
Noel Langley, Florence Ryerson, and Edgar Allan Woolf. The music was written
and composed by Herbert Rosson. The film is based on the book, The Wonderful
Wizard of Oz, written by L. Frank Baum. It is set at the turn of the 20th century in
Kansas and then in the Land of Oz. My second work is the book, The Lion, The
Witch and The Wardrobe, written by the English writer, C.S. Lewis and published
in 1950. It is the Scholastic edition from 1995. The book is set during World War
Two in the English country side and then then magical world of Narnia where time
is different and therefore cannot be compared to any time period of the real world.
Common Theme
The common theme I will be exploring is Good vs. Evil . The theme is expressed in
The Wizard of Oz throughout the movie through the use of the antagonist, the
Wicked Witch of the West pursuing the main character, Dorothy, for the shoes she
wears (Fleming LeRoy, 1939). The Wicked Witch wants the shoes for herself
because they hold great power, but also because they belonged to her sister, The
Wicked Witch of the East (Fleming LeRoy, 1939). However, Glinda The Good
Witch of the North, gifts them to Dorothy after she traveled to Oz, in her house and
through a cyclone (Fleming LeRoy, 1939). The house landed on the Wicked Witch of
the East and
Theme Of Violence In A Clockwork Orange And Bonnie And
Clyde
Paramount themes of violence and extensive uses of graphic imagery are imperative
motifs in the classic films, A Clockwork Orange and Bonnie and Clyde. Comparably,
these two films use the element of violence to add insight to characters, environment,
and further evoke emotions from audiences alike. Directors Stanley Kubrick and
Arthur Penn began to push the boundaries of what is deemed acceptable in the film
industry by introducing unprecedented levels of graphic content and directional
methods of displaying such. On one hand, A Clockwork Orangewas released to
American audiences under an X rating due to its brash depictions of violence, rape,
sex, and crude language (Thrawn, Clockwork Orange the X Rating ). Regardless,
Kubrick chose to include the entirety of what was described in the novella due to its
integral part in shaping the dystopian environment and main character Alex
McDowell. Narrations of our protagonist s innermost thoughts accompanied by the
true colors of his actions aides in building a complete understanding of societal and
personal morals. Bonnie and Clydesimilarly uses the harsh reality of violence as a
tool to help set the overall tone of the film. The story of famous outlaws, Bonnie and
Clyde, is glorified as well as equally condemned through graphic and bloody
shootouts where they can be seen ruthlessly taking the lives of innocent people. The
choice to amplify the intensity of violence in this movie is cohesive in laying the
framework for character values within the two and creates a much more dramatic
depiction of the infamous crimes that took place in the 30 s. Throughout both of
these films, audiences are given the raw imagery necessary to create accurate and
theatrical depictions of our characters actions that define their personalities and
surroundings.
During the 1960 s, as cultural values changed, revisions were made regarding the
film rating system previously established by the Motion Picture Association of
America. This change opened up the door to take more artistic freedom when
producing their movies (Dirks, Film History of the 1960s ). Although Bonnie and
Clyde was released a year before the update, we can still see the progressive approach
towards violence through

US Navy Chief Pinning Ceremony
The Merriam Webster dictionary defines tradition as a way of thinking, behaving,
or doing something that has been used by the people in a particular group, family,
society, etc., for a long time (2011). The Navy is full of formal traditions such as
saluting honors to the flag or senior personnel. One such tradition is the Chief s
Pinning Ceremony. The Chief s Pinning Ceremony is a formal tradition, the first
ceremony taken place on September 16, 1960. In 1959 the collar device of an

eligible for advance to Chief, E 7, undergoes a massive selection and ranking board.

According to the Navy Times each year 3,811 to 4,352 Sailors are eligibly for

There are several areas of experimenting. One includes basic research, which is
biomedical research to investigate animals in a physiological manner where
animals are seen more as machines and necessarily don t experience pain. There is
also applied biomedical research where animals are used for disease testing by
testing and toxic substances and also surgical research is conducted where physical
pain occurs .Another field is regulatory testing of drugs, compounds and products
and animals are forced take these substances according to regulations. Similar to
routine testing there is also routine testing for biological substances such as
vaccines before they are put out for the use of people. In this field sadly the animals
have to develop the horrible symptoms of the disease itself before they are given the
vaccine. Lastly, animals are used for educational purposes, where animals are used
for dissection in undergraduate classes and students often have no choice but to
dissect the animals if they expect to succeed in their career (Kolar, 114). Advocates of
animal experimenting believe that animals should be used for the advancement of
humans. They believe that is ethical and uncruel to animals. Many also believe that
animals don t have rights due to the fact that they are inferior to the human kind.
They also dispute that animal research is a great method towards the advancement of
medicine and has contributed greatly over the past years. Lastly, they assume

As the principal question is to examine how we experience, perceive and interact
with the site through our senses and body, in this section I present excerpts from the
interview transcripts which are then analysed to obtain an understanding of sensory
qualities of the site. In any site dance, it is not only the performers who are
interrogating spacethrough movements, but it also extends to an audience who
experiences it. For a better structuring, I have divided this section into two parts: the
first part focuses on how the dancers engage to depict the site through various sensory
receptors and the latter part discusses the multiple constructions of the sites through
the viewers sensuous subjectivity. Through these sections I endeavour to... Show

In Dusk the performance is designed imaginatively to retrace the histories of the place

and Harrison s narratives contained abundant tactile metaphors about having contacts
with grass underfoot (Fig 5.5.1.1). Subramaniam informed me that: We had
choreographed and rehearsed in a studio, so the texture of the grass made it difficult
to move initially (Facebook interview, April 29, 2013).
From the transcription I found that the dancers variously depicted the site as: soft ,
resistant , hard , uneven (texture), huge , small , magnanimous (size), airy , fresh ,
stuffy (olfactory), illuminated , dark (visibility) and sacred (belief). As most of the
dance artists and dancers agreed that it was meant to pay tribute to the site, I
narrow down my discussion to the concept of sacredness drawing on a set of three
selected photos and narratives. Subramaniam said that: The stones felt sacred, each
was feeling like a deity with personality and compassion. We were blessed with
extraordinarily good weather and the sun provided perfect lighting (Facebook
interview, April 29, 2013). Dusk expands the concept of sacredness through cultural
and religious appropriations. In Fig 5.5.1.1 the proximate vicinity of the stones forces

Watching What W Say
Watching What We Say Over the course of the semester we discussed many
different theories on epistemology. Our focus was to try to understand if we can
claim true knowledge from the things we think we know, and how we come to
know them. Experience seems to be the major factor that plays a role in the way
we come to know things. According to contextualists, language, more so the
context in which it is used, also plays a role in the way establish knowledge. In this
paper we will focus on two contextual theorists, Ludwig Wittgenstein and David
Lewis. We will discuss their theories and few skepticisms about their theories. A
major contextualist claim is that our attributions of knowledge can vary from person
to person based on the user s context. The way we utter sentences, the many different
contexts in which we use the words to form statements, may differ in truth value as
well. According to an online article in the Stanford Encyclopedia, Patrick Rysiew
describes contextualism as entertaining of the possibility of some kind of pluralism
concerning epistemic standards. In one instance, this took the form of the claim, in
response to skepticism, that there are two senses of know one strong or
philosophical , the other weak or ordinary . So too, some of Wittgenstein s claims
about the relation between meaning and use and the multiplicity of language games ,
each with its own set of norms, opened the way for a more thoroughgoing kind of
semantic pluralism with

mentioned in the book who long for more than what average society can offer. The
epigraph by Tolstoy embodies the idea of not being content with a mundane life, and
needing to go out into the world, which sheds light on why Chris went on his journey,
why Krakauer wrote the book and why so many other people resonate with Chris,
making the epigraph very impactful.
The epigraph at the start of chapter three supplies the reader with justification and a
better understanding of why Chris ventured into the wild. The epigraph was
highlighted by Chris McCandless and found near his dead body. The proximity and
marking of the text reveals that Chris regarded Tolstoy s words with importance and
meaning. Tolstoy wrote, I wanted excitement and danger (15), meaning that some
people in life need more adventure than what everyday life can offer and Chris was
the same. Unlike normal teenagers who would go out and party, Chris spent his
weekends talking to and helping the homeless (113). Chris was not like normal
teenagers and to pass his time he needed excitement in the form of conversations with
people he wouldn t normally get ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Krakauer also relates to Tolstoy because Krakauer did not want a, calm course of
existence , but rather one full of adventure going on a path never traveled before
(15). Krakauer was similar to Chris and Tolstoy, in their desire for excitement. The
epigraph and Krakauer s personal story affirms that Krakauer wrote the book
because he, just like Chris, was not satisfied with his life and Krakauer wanted to
explain why they went on
The Stereotypes Of Ageing Women In Media
Stereotypes of ageing are a common phenomenon in contemporary media, especially
in Western cultures. These stereotypes are primarily negative because they make
assumptions about ageing women by depicting them as living in a state of ill health,
dependency, loneliness, and poor mental and physical functioning. In a similar vein,
stereotypes of ageingattempt to show how women at their old age should behave and
what they are likely to experience (Dionigi, 2015). Mediaportrayal of ageing females
is also negative and undesirable as they play a role in the development of a culture
where individuals are meant to follow the negative ageing story whether consciously
or unconsciously. This affects ageing females based on how they are treated and
perceived by society, leading to stress, hypertension, and other psychological
disorders (Milner et al., 2012). The negative representation of older women in media
is a form of double marginalization of gender and age as it entails stereotypization.
This, therefore, has certain ramifications with regard to how women interpret and
experience ageing. This paper discusses how media gives ageing women a definition
of being burdensome, controlling, asexual, dependent, and eccentric (Bowman,
2006), that they are no longer represented as the object of male desire. Thus, this
essay argues that the undesirability of ageing women is depicted in media through
invisibility and inaccurate portrayal, underpinning the idea that ageing women should

Coca Cola was the 1st international soft drinks brand to enter India in early 1970 s.
Indian market was dominated by domestic brands, with Limca being the largest
selling brand. Cola was the largest selling flavor with market share of 40%, Lemon
drinks 31% and orange drinks only 19%.
Up till 1977, Coca cola was the leading soft drink brand in India. But due to norms
set by the Foreign Exchange Regulation Act (FERA), Coca Cola left India and did
not return till 1993 after a 16 year absence from the Indian beverage market. FERA
needed Coca Cola to reveal its secret concentrate formula as well as reduce its
equity stake which was not acceptable. Pure drinks, Delhi launched Campa Cola, to
take advantage of Coke s exit and by the end of 70 s, were the only Cola drink in
the Indian market. In 1980, Parle, another major Indian player launched Thums
Up, the drink which till date is most popular soft drink in India. Pure Drinks
strongly objected to Thums Up being called a soft drink as it felt its taste is too
strong. For over a decade, Parle led the Indian soft drinks market, with its market
share reaching a peak of 70% in1990.

Simpsons Family Therapy Essay
Family Referral Today I received a referral from a family who is seeking help
regarding their dysfunctional family structure. The Simpson s are a nuclear family
that is having difficulties living as a family. I have already spoken to Marge
Simpson and agreed to find a way to get her husband and children to therapy. She has
very high aspirations of attending therapy with her family because she has longed for
a normal functioning family in which her husband and children interact in a much
healthier manner than they do now. She described her husband of being careless, her
son uncontrollable ate times, and her daughters disconnected from the family. We
have set up the meeting for next week, Wednesday at six, when she believed her

For this particular session Marge sat with her baby in the couch, her son sat as far
away from the family as he could, her other daughter also sat on the couch but not
close to Marge or the baby, and her husband sat on the recliner way from her family
as well. I tried to break the tension that I felt in the room by asking the family how
they were doing but I only got an answer from Marge and a smile from her older
daughter, Dad and son didn t seem to want to take part. I then asked each one to
introduce them selves. The first one to speak up was Marge; she introduced
herself and her baby Maggie who is one. I could tell that Marge was nervous about
therapy and her baby was just being a baby. The next one to speak up was Lisa,
Lisa seemed shy but was very polite as oppose to Homer her dad and Bart. Both
Homer and Bart seemed to resemble each other; they were careless and bored
about being in therapy. During the first session boundaries and ground rules were
set. In this session my goal was to get to know the whole family and learn about
each of their concerns and what they each wanted to gain from therapy. I went
around the room and asked each one to describe how each one viewed their family
structure as a whole. I let Marge begin since she seemed to be the most eager one in
starting family therapy. Her main concerns were having her husband s support, her

Vasoconstriction Research Paper
Humans help maintain their body temperature by wearing clothes. When someone is
surrounded by something that is cooler than their body temperature, like air, or
water, the body will lose heat. Although clothing and shelter helps people stay warm,
our body has adapted vasoconstriction as a way to keep critical organs warm.
Vasoconstriction is the tightening of blood vessels. Vasoconstriction causes the blood
flow to reduce which conserves body heat. However, vasoconstriction can also lead to
numbness, loss of hands, fingers and etc. The human body also uses shivering to
maintain body temperature. For example, shivering increases internal heat production
by causing the muscles to contract and relax rapidly.
Heat loss from the body primarily ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Frostnip occurs when water on the skins surface freezes. When recognizing
frostnip some signs and symptoms you should look for are: if the skin appears red
and swollen, area is still painful and repeated frostnip in the same area. When
caring for frostnip you should gently warm the affected area. You can do this by
placing it against a warm body part. However, do not rub the affected area.
Frostbite is when the skins tissue becomes damage. This only happens in below
freezing temperatures. When recognizing a superficial frostbite, the skin should be
white or grayish yellow, the affect part should be cold and numb and the skin
surface will feel stiff. When recognizing a deep frostbite, the affect part should feel
very hard, blisters might appear, or if the affected pain stops hurting. When caring
for a frostbite victim, first get the victim out of the cold and into a warm place.
Next, remove any wet clothing and seek medical attention. After, if the affect part
is partially thawed, place the affected area in warm water. After thawing: treat the
victim as a stretcher case is the feet is affected. Also, protect the area from contact.
Furthermore, place a dry, sterile gauze between the toes and the fingers to absorb
moisture. Then, slightly elevate the affected area. If advised by a physician, apply
aloe vera gel, this will help the skin heal. Lastly, give the victim an aspirin, this will
help limit the pain and
The Importance Of Anti Skin Care Products
During the last 10 years more attention is paid to the anti aging skin care.
Developments within this category were influenced by such factors as competition
among the major brands, introduction of new technologies and new ingredients, as
well as worldwide increase in demand for the so called rejuvenating cosmetics .
People have no intentions of putting up with aging. Today they are turning to
alternative therapies and anti aging products; however, they will not spend money on
products which do not produce the wished results.
First anti aging skin care products appeared during the late 1980s. The first liposome
ingredient delivery system was part of first generation anti aging skin care.

As skin ages and is repeatedly exposed to harmful UV rays, the level of vitamin A,
produced in the body, constantly decreases. The skin renewal processes slow down
and the epidermal layer becomes progressively thinner. Some of the research of the
ingredients, such as vitamin C, was held in 1990s. Further, scientists identified two
key chemical helpers to assist in the delivery of vitamin C through the skin.
The formulations derived from it led to the development of anti aging skin care
products, containing vitamin C and products, which contained a combination of
vitamin C and pure Retinol (until recently, it has been extremely hard to combine
both Retinol and vitamin C together in a stable formulation, as both ingredients are
easily oxidized, when exposed to the air, and become inactive). In 1990s this type of
skin care was already produced all over the world.
Further on, a great deal of interest in the anti oxidants has been shown. A lot of
studies have been done which show that protecting the skin can delay the onset of
aging. The SUVIMAX studies in France showed that the use of anti oxidants on the
skin slows down the aging process. It is also possible to reduce lines and improve
skin firmness.
Benefits of anti oxidants were detected in grape seeds extracts. After that, cosmetic
companies started using these benefits in their skin care products. Grape polyphenols
are natural compounds derived from green grape seed extract which have

The scene in the novel where all the porno cinemas were bombed and burned to the
ground was somewhat important in the fact that it showed to state of anarchy our
country is in, in this novel. The movie neglected to use that scene in to the movie
version of The Pelican Brief. The burning down of the porno cinemas gave an
example and showed how the Underground Military worked. This in a sense
excluded them from the list of suspects do to there expert use of explosives. If they
had indeed were the killers of the two Chief Justices they most likely would of
stuck to there area of expertise, explosives. The main difference between the novel
and the movie is that in the novel you are introduced to more characters and there
involvement in the story is explained. The movie doesn t really introduce u as well
as the novel does and this makes it harder to follow what is going on in the movie
version. It is harder in a movie to introduce a character but it seemed that it was
poorly don in The Pelican Brief movie version. I can understand why its easer for a

Outline For Informative Speech On Firearms Essay
PREPARATION OUTLINE FOR INFORMATIVE SPEECH #3
Purpose Statement: To persuade my audience that people who own firearms should
have to register their firearms with law enforcement.
Thesis Statement: People who own firearms are generally responsible and should
have nothing to hide when it comes to firearm safety. They should register their
firearms with the police department in order to help keep society safe.
Attention Getter: Would you feel safer if every gun owner was required to register
their firearms with the police department? Do you think it would make the United
States a safer place? Well, according to a national survey completed in 2011, 66% of
Americans favor laws which would require every gun owner to register each gun they
own.
Overview of Main Points: Having a firearm registration law would potentially lead to
the identification and prosecution of violent criminals. Also, criminals who have
been through the justice system would legally be unable to purchase firearms.
Finally, law enforcement agencies would be better prepared to do their job with
knowledge on what kind of firearms the suspect might have.
1st Transition: Gun registration laws are important and having guns registered with
the local law enforcement agency could lead to the identification and prosecution of
violent criminals.
I.Firearm registration laws can lead to the identification and prosecution of criminals

Strangely, some individuals are slightly delusional, the feel if they change their

Compare And Contrast Politics And Political System
Here in this topic an issue arises that why we do compare and compare the political
systems of the different regions, states, and countries and as well as domestic politics.
To answer the bigger question what is politics and political systems. Politics mean
the activities associated are attached with the governance of a country or area
especially the debate between parties or regimes having power. Politics is also to
struggle to gain power to rule and govern governments. On the other hand
governments have access to resources and powers to rule over people and as well as
empower people through the majority winning political party who wins to rule and
impose.
Some philosophers consider politics it forces for good while others take it as force
for evil. In seventeenth and eighteenth century were the opinions that if no

idea of Social Contract on which societies come to an existence. John Locke, Jacques

The Importance Of Earbuds
Did you know, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, An
estimated 12.5% of children and adolescents aged 6 19 years (approximately 5.2
million) and 17% of adults aged 20 69 years (approximately 26 million) have
suffered permanent damage to their hearing from excessive exposure to noise. ? An
increase in noise induced hearing loss has raised concerns about the safety of ear
buds. Many people are currently debating whether to ban earbuds to solve the
issue. Earbuds damage hearing and should be banned. They put adolescents at risk
of noise induced hearing loss, they reach dangerously high noise levels, and
hearing problems caused as a result of them negatively affect a person s life.
Furthermore, earbuds are putting adolescents at risk of noise induced hearing
loss. For example, A report released earlier this year by the World Health
Organization (WHO) says that 1.1 billion teens and young adults worldwide are at
risk of hearing loss... one main reason is the use of personal audio devices such as
iPods, with earbuds or headphones (What Did You Say?, 4). In other words, as a
result of earbuds, adolescents are at a risk of noise induced hearing loss. Many
adolescents use earbuds for long periods of time or listen to music at high volume
levels without knowing that they are gradually hurting their ears and putting
themselves at risk of hearing damage. Furthermore, ...as personal music players

Cycle Of Terror And Tragedy Analysis
To fully understand this artwork, The Cycle of Terror and Tragedy, done by artist
Graydon Parrish in 2002, one must have a general understanding of the events that
took place on September 11th, 2001. Because the painting is portraying the events
and the aftermath to the viewer, it is understood that the audience is aware of this
significant date. Parrish has a very strong stance against the actions taken on this
day, as he displays this tragic event. The viewer s eye is initially drawn to the two
tall screaming men in the center of the photo, used to represent the twin towers.
This sets a very dark and depressing tone as the tragedy of September 11th is truly
portrayed. The story that can be seen here is read left to right on the canvas, showing

This paintings powerful message can clearly be seen to the viewer, especially
culturally when we see the torn up Constitution of the United States in the
background, representing a free for all on this day as our American beliefs did not

as Americans. The visual claims that this event truly was horrific and shows the
absolute loss of innocence throughout our nation on this one day. The hands of the
men especially show the suffering and anguish our nation felt, as they are deformed,
projecting their pain onto the viewer. This work specifically reflects a historical
moment in American history in that it depicts the events of September 11th.
However, it also shows the future that is to come with the old man who survived
passing the information of these events onto the young innocently blindfolded girl on
the bottom right. Clearly, this piece is superficial in the sense where it comments on
one event, but it also goes deeper, showing the aftermath and actions to come for the

Nazi Propaganda During The Holocaust
Although the holocaust was a terrible and sad period in time, it was a brilliant
work of propaganda and other components used by the Nazis in WWII to get the
Jews into concentration camps. The Nazis were able to control the mass media
and at the same time were able to warp the minds of people to thinking Jews were
the problem. In 1929, Josef Goebbels was named the chief of propaganda by Hitler.
Goebbels really didn t use extreme propaganda on people. He kept it simple by
using slogans and images in the media which over time won the people over. At
first all the propaganda was located in newspapers and other types of media. Later
after Goebbels had the public support, he would organize large political military

Gender Inequality In Canada Essay
Running Head: WHY FEMINISM IS STILL NEEDED IN CANADA
Gender inequality, by definition, refers to unequal treatment or perceptions of
individuals wholly or partly due to their genders (Wikipedia, 2017). Canada has
progressed towards gender equality in multiple aspects; however, there are many
areas within Canada in which women are still oppressed due to their gender. For
instance, Canadian women in the work force are treated unequally in contrast to men
in regards to opportunity, advancement, and salary. It is due to lack of equality within
the work field that Canada still requires feminism.
The first woman elected into Canadian government, Agnes McPhail, marked history

has been made in reference to female and male wage difference, but there are still
some unspoken occurrences of inequality. It is possible to assume that female

is because society still considers the majority of female occupations girly and more

Comparison Of Vyvanse And Adderall
Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) and Attention Deficit
Disorder(ADD) are two very public disorders, mainly among kids ranging in age from
elementary school through college and on into adulthood. There are many different
treatments developed now to help aid the effects that come with ADD/ADHD, the
most common of which is medications. The two biggest brand name medications
used to treat ADD and ADHD are Vyvanse and Adderall. Both of these medications
are stimulant medications, which by definition from The Encyclopedia means,

Adderall is meant to treat ADD while Vyvanse is intended to treat ADHD. Adderall
is a legal form of an amphetamine that is used to treat three things: ADD,
narcolepsy and depression (Patterson, E.). Adderall is a dangerous medication that
is known to have an addictive quality that needs to be used with caution. Adderall
and the illegal drug of Methamphetamine, Meth for short (also called crystal meth
or speed, etc.), are only separated by one methyl group (Slee, M). In an article about
the rising abuse of ADHD/ADD medications, published by The University of Utah
s Health Library, explains that stimulant medications are misused, or taken by
students who don t have ADHD or ADD, they have the ability to rev up the brain
and body. They are known to temporarily increase the capacity to focus on a phase
which is nicknamed hyper focus . They also have the ability to reduce the need for
sleep. There is no actual proof they can increase grades or performance. Instead,
abuse of stimulants can actually lead to a false sense of self confidence and make
academic performance worse, and for every benefit Adderall provides there is are
opposite repercussions. In the short term, some of Adderall s benefits include how it
stimulates the brain into releasing brain chemicals that are responsible for boosting
attention, alertness and energy levels. The opposite negative effects are things like
appetite suppression that causes unhealthy weight loss, irritability, trouble going to
sleep, and even dangerous heart problems (Patterson, E). When abused by people
that don t need it, Adderall has been proven to lead to a more serious long term
effect such as paranoia, hostility and depression as well as becoming dependent
psychologically and physically to the medication
Descriptive My Sister
Lylah Rosemarie Galloway: a bold and animate toddler that I am lucky to call my

rest of the aging world that is envious of a being so youthful and untouched, but
Lylah is more. She isn t only a character that momentarily appeals to the experienced
human eye. She and her spirit are worthy of deeper admiration.
Her small, yet expressive, face is among her most lovely features. It s something
artists would draft when told to create the face of a perfect, untouched child. With
gray teal eyes that widen at the sight of nearly anything, a petite button nose, and
pale rose lips that never shut, she has the ideal face of a human child. Naturally, her
cheeks are plump as the corners of her mouth are always curling upward, even if
just in the slightest. Her open mouth is filled with tiny teeth not yet lost to adulthood
that she beams without reservation. Another captivating aspect of this beautiful tiny
face is her eyes. Undoubtedly symmetrical, these windows tell so much about her
youthful, blooming soul. Curly, graceful eyelashes which are unnaturally long for
someone her age outline the oval shape like a cartoon drawing. The porcelain
white of her eye beholds an ashy blue iris like a stormy ocean sky and a dark,
enlarged pupil. The stories that the two orbs between her ears tell are endless.
Sometimes, they widen in awe at a new discovery. On occasion, they scrunch together

The Benefits Of Legalizing Marijuana
One of the main focusing points of America s War on Drugs is the drug marijuana.
Marijuana is one of the most widely used illegal drugs in the world. Thousands of
people are arrested every year because of marijuana. However, even with marijuana
s bad reputation, the benefits that it offers definitely outweigh its disadvantages.
Marijuana can help alleviate many ailments and several symptoms associated with
cancer and Aids. While Marijuana is a very effective medicine, it is also a huge
cash crop. In addition to this the legalization of marijuana would clear up many
problems with the criminal justice system. If marijuana was made legal for medical

A Note On Detection Algorithm
2.1 PAGE CHANGE DETECTION ALGORITHM
2.1.1 Introduction: About 60% of the content on the web is dynamic. It is quiet
possible that after downloading a particular web page, the local copy of the page
residing in the repository of the web pages becomes obsolete compared to the copy
on the web. Therefore a need arises to update the database of web pages. Once a
decision has been taken to update the pages, it should be ensured that minimal
resources are used in the process. Updating only those elements of the database,
which have actually undergone a change, can do this. Importance of web pages to
be downloaded has been discussed in the above section. It also checks whether the
page is already there in the database or not and lowers its priority value if it is
referred rather frequently. In this section, we discuss some algorithms to derive
certain parameters, which can help in deriving the fact whether the page has
changed, or not. These parameters will be calculated at the time of page parsing.
When the client again counters the same URL, it just calculates the code by parsing
the page without downloading the page and compares it to the current parameters. If
changes in parameters are detected, it is concluded that the page has changed and
needs to be downloaded again. Otherwise the URL is discarded immediately without
further processing. The following changes are of importance when considering
changes in a web page:
Change in page structure.
Change in text contents.
Zippers Market Share
Zippers are one of the most commonly used items in the clothing and fabric
industries. They are used in almost everything from clothing and luggage to tents and
fastening products. For most people, though, zippers are an afterthought unless the
person is involved in professional sewing or domestic production of items with
zippers.
With so many companies manufacturing zippers today and with new technologies
bringing an ever increasing variety of zipper designs, it is now more challenging
than ever for consumers to find and buy the right zipper. Just like everything else in
the market, consumers will need to invest some time in knowing how zippers work
and the many designs and accessories available. Because these are the most important
factors about zippers that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Parafin stick This crayon like accessory is designed to lubricate the internal parts of

Pull tab charm Charms come in many styles and designers and are available in every
color you can imagine. The charm has a tiny clip that attaches to the pull tab of the
zipper.
Conclusion
The many uses of zippers has what spurred the many types, designs, and brands they
are available in today. You will find light zippers such as those made to carry baby
clothing to heavy duty ones ideal for tents and tool bags. Some types of zippers
such as those on convertible cars are water resistant and there are types that are
made to withstand excessive tension force. No matter what you need a zipper for,
there is always one made to meet your specific need. The prices will vary with brand
and quality, of course.
To have access to the widest selection of zipper makes, types, and designs, consumers
are advised to check out what manufacturers have to offer rather than just choose
from limited selections offered at retail
Manley Pointer
Things are Not Always as They Seem with Good Country People
Why that looks like the nice dull young man that tried to sell me a Bible yesterday,
Mrs. Hopewell said, squinting. He must of been trying to sell them to the
Negros back in there. He was so simple, she said, but I guess the world would be
better off if we were all that simple (145). At the end of the story, Mrs. Hopewell
considers
Manley Pointer simple. Little did she know that this simple man had just caused
Hulga severe mental and physical anguish. Her ignorance towards the underlying
evil in the world turns out to be her greatest fault. Situations are not always as they
seem, and unless one first looks within, his or her weaknesses may be exploited ...

The Bible carried by Manley turns out to be nothing more than a hiding place for a
pocket flask of whiskey, a pack of cards, and a small blue box with printing on it
(135). Joy Hulga appears to be accepting of her situation, but she is still very
ashamed of her appearance. In the story, both Hulga and Manley wear masks over
their true natures. Their final confrontation, however, reveals Manley to be a
cunning atheist while Hulga is exposed as a girl whose naivete sharply contradicts
the nihilistic cliches she professes. After the confrontation in the hay loft with Hulga,
Manley is revealed as an abuser and a thief, but only to Hulga. There are two types of
irony throughout this story, situational irony and verbal irony. Situational irony is
found when Hulga is expecting to seduce an innocent, however, it turns out to be
quite different. Joy Hulga is easily the most taken advantage of character in the
entire story. As her ugly sounding name implies, she appears ugly and evil, but
deep down she has a desire for love and happiness. She says, I am one of those
people who see through to nothing (115). Little does she know, that she recognizes
one of her greatest weaknesses in this statement. Hulga has said one thing but her
hidden desires cause her several problems later on. For example, the whole scene
that takes place in the hay loft, which is know as verbal irony. Manley was

Microsoft Office Professional 2013 contains the drivers and software needed to
connect the printers to the computers. Outlook Express software will be required for
the purpose of sharing a calendar.
Accessing files
Once one of the computers is properly configured as a file server, users can access
the storage by mapping the drives on the respective computers. The file server will
be mapped as a drive and users can store, edit and access files directly from the
shared storage disk. The disk will be connected to each computer. For example, when
a user needs to access any file from the file server, he/she can access the drive that
will now be mapped on the every computer (Science Opposing Views, 2014).
Printing
Once the printers have been configured to the print server. The six computers will be
connected to the server through LAN. When a user prints a document, the computer
will first connect to the server, after which the server sends the print job to the
allocated printer. Each computer will be allocated a printer. One of the printers will
be primary, and the second one the secondary.
The Relationship between Oliver Twist and the Industrial...
Ernst Fischer, a renowned Austrian artist of the 19th century once said that, In a
decaying society, art, if it is truthful, must also reflect decay. And unless it wants to
break faith with its social function, art must show the world as changeable. And help
to change it for the better. Over the many years since the publishing of Charles
Dickenss Oliver Twist in 1838, many have come to know it as not only art but also
as an account of the social and economic problems of the industrial revolution. Along
with his other works, he would eventually inspire others to put an end to child labour,
one the most horrific examples of human exploitation that went on in the industrial
revolution. Oliver Twist addresses three major themes of the 19th... Show more

This passage praises the purity and health of the rural environment and claims
outright that even a lifelong city dweller has in his blood a chance to better himself
and society as a whole.
Who can describe the pleasure and delight, the peace of mind and soft tranquility,
the sickly boy felt in the balmy air and among the green hills and rich woods of an
inland village! Who can tell how scenes of peace and quietude sink into the minds
of pain worn dwellers in close and noisy places, and carry their own freshness deep
into their jaded hearts! Men who have lived in crowded, pent up streets, through
lives of toil, and who have never wished for change men to whom custom has
indeed been second nature, and who have come almost to love each brick and
stone that formed the narrow boundaries of their daily walks even they, with the
hand of death upon them, have been known to yearn at last for one short glimpse
of Nature s face, and, carried far from the scenes of their old pains and pleasures,
have seemed to pass at once into a new state of being.
Dickens goes on to note that, in the country, even the poor people are neat and clean.
The immorality and starvation that characterize urban poverty are not present in rural
England. Although this maybe a product of wishful thinking and the ideals of a
utopian society, it does show the reader a sense of hope for the future.
With the Industrial Revolution came about an unprecedented amount of

Cyber Criminals, Thieves, And Terrorism
Every day, hospitals in the United States and around the world are working long
hours in responding to emergencies, attending patients, delivering newborn babies,
performing surgeries, and foremost saving lives. Not too long ago, cyberspace has
given institutions such as hospitals the tools to accumulate and file as much
information and data as possible in this great space of technology, networks, and
systems. Information such as patient s information, treatments, machinery, as well as
having a better way to have a secure place to store them and have authorization in
accessing them. However, such tools had been used as weapons by those who want
to have access and possession of such critical information and control by cyber
criminals, thieves, and terrorists. Unfortunately, it s not simple to live in a world in
which laws can just simply protect institutions that help save lives. Rather, hospitals
have fallen as victims of cyberattacks.
On the evening of February 5th, at Los Angeles, California, doctors and staff from
Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center, noticed several technical issues while trying
to access the hospital s computer network. The hospital s IT department was notified,
and they began their investigation to determine the cause of these issues. However,
these issues carried on for approximately a week, which was a frustration for doctors
and staff members because they were unable to digitally access patient s medical
records and treatments, communication via
The Influence Of Bazarov s Nihilistic View
Freud objects to the idea the men love their neighbors because he thinks that men
are too aggressive and want more for themselves than anyone else. To an extent, I
understand where he comes up with this notion. There are a lot of people in this
world that are very self centered, especially these days. A big thing a lot of people
are striving for in life is power and money. To achieve that goal, they will do almost
anything to make sure it happens. We get this notion that man should lovehis or her
neighbor from The Bible. Mark 12:31, Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no
greater commandment than these. We are supposed to love our neighbor because
God tells us that we should. Freud refers to man as creatures, saying that our instincts

These two are good friends. Arkady is heavily influenced by Bazarov s nihilistic
views on life. The one time that stood out to me where these two fell under Freud s
notion was in chapter 21. Bazarov had just expressed his feeling to Madame
Odintsova. He was embarrassed that she did not accept his feelings towards her,
causing him to be in a bad mood and take his frustrations out on others. In this
situation, being Arkady. They get into an argument after Bazarov makes a rude
comment to Arkady about his idiot uncle. Bazarov talking to Arkady, ...to walk in
your uncle s footsteps. How pleased that worthy imbecile would have been if he
had heard you (Turgenev 122). Arkady takes this as an insult and they continue to
fight. This argument is meaningless and shouldn t have happened. Bazarov is so
tied up in his emotions over Madame Odintsova that he loses the love for his friend
Arkady. He takes out his anger and frustration on Arkady and this is where Freud s
assessment of humans comes into play. Bazarov is friends with Arkady but as soon
as Bazarov s feelings anger him, he loses sight of that love for Arkady. He is only
concerned with his feelings so he takes out his frustrations on Arkady making him
feel better but not taking into consideration of Arkady s
Compare And Contrast The Actions And Behaviors Of The...
The actions and behavior of the crusaders were guided more by secular reasons than
religious. While the crusades have been remembered as a purely religious struggle
between Latin Christendom and the Muslims of the middle east the actions made by
the crusaders were only partly caused by religion. In addition although there were
many members of the First Crusadewho were genuinely motivated by religious
devotion there were many who were not. The actions of crusaders like Bohemond of
Taranto and Baldwin of Boulogne seem to have been motivated mainly by self
interest and a desire to better themselves. Not only do their circumstances before the
crusadesindicate that their motivations might have been more secular, but the actions
they took indicate... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the relief army under Kerbigha arrived it tried and failed to destroy the
crusaders quickly. He then decided to lay siege to Antioch and starve its new
occupiers into submission. Some of the crusaders deserted and told the Byzantines
that all of the crusaders had been killed which convinced them to turn away from
Antioch. Not long afterwards those still in the city found what they assumed to be
the holy lance which helped to raise morale. The crusaders then tried to negotiate
although whether they asked to be allowed to leave or demanded that the Muslim
army under Kerbogha leave is unknown. Several days after negotiations failed the
crusaders attacked and defeated the Muslim army. Surprisingly the crusaders then
stayed in Antioch for over a year while they argued over what to do with the city.
Bohemond argued that he should be given control of the city, however Raymond
disagreed with him. Some historians including Anna Commenca compare Raymond
favorably to Bohemond in large part because of this argument. However it is

August Wilson Fences Symbolism
In Fences, August Wilson, explores the life of segregation for African Americans and
the impacts it could have on family and friends. Additionally, how betrayal and
deception affects relationships. By portraying the life of Troy Maxon, an average
African American Citizen, Wilson is able to provide the detrimental effects that
segregation and deception had on Troy s life, ultimately affecting the ones he loved
most including himself. Gabriel, Troy s brother, was one of the characters affected
who throughout had his own symbolic meaning to the plays overall theme. Gabriel s
role impacted the story in multiple ways. Wilson illustrates Gabriel s symbolic
meaning through African Americanveterans not getting proper treatment, greed
among family, and salvation as a messenger of God.
Wilson establishes Gabriel as a disabled war veteran who has recently returned
home. While overseas, Gabriel suffered brain damage and now has a metal plate in
his head. One can infer that Wilson is making a social statement about war through ...

Colonialism And The Legacy Of Colonialism In America
Everyone in America has been touched by the legacy of colonialism, from the
people whose ancestors were enslaved and used to enrich those who owned them
to the immigrants that arrived for a better future but still face the same
discrimination as those before them. However, not everyone in America knows
this, and simply ignore that the hardships of most people of color stem from the
institutions put in place by colonialism. This is why I believe that it is important
for people to be aware of the impacts that colonialism has on people across the
world, especially in places like Los Angeles, my hometown. Admittedly, I never
knew much about the history of the place I lived in, aside from the splendor of
Hollywood or the riots that swept the city during the 90s. However, as I read more
about the history of the people who lived here, such as the Tongva people, or the
Californios, the more I realize of the abuses that they faced at the hands of white
Europeans and Americans that were trying to settle in the region. These abuses
continue to be felt today, where the research article, Reading, Writing, and Toxics:
Children s Health, Academic Performance, and Environmental Justice in Los
Angeles by Manuel Pastor Jr., James L Sadd , and Rachel Morello Frosch explain
how people of color were living in places where they were contaminated by toxic
chemicals without their knowledge. This is a form of environmental racismthat needs

A Rose For Emily Literary Analysis Essay.pdf

  • 1. A Rose For Emily Literary Analysis Essay Crafting a literary analysis essay on the given topic is undoubtedly a challenging endeavor that requires a deep understanding of William Faulkner's "A Rose for Emily." This iconic short story delves into complex themes, intricate character developments, and subtle symbolism, demanding an analytical lens that goes beyond the surface narrative. One of the primary challenges lies in unraveling the layers of Emily Grierson's character. Her enigmatic nature, coupled with the non-linear structure of the narrative, makes it essential for the essayist to navigate through the timelines adeptly, discerning the motivations and implications of her actions. Moreover, the symbolic elements scattered throughout the story, such as the decaying mansion, the rose, and the mysterious room, pose another layer of complexity. Successfully interpreting these symbols requires a keen literary insight and an ability to connect them to broader thematic concepts. Balancing the exploration of character and symbolism with a thorough examination of Faulkner's narrative style adds an additional dimension of difficulty. Faulkner's use of unreliable narration and the Southern Gothic genre introduces challenges in conveying the nuances of the story effectively. In constructing an essay, the writer must not only provide a coherent analysis but also ensure that their arguments are well-supported by textual evidence. Extracting pertinent quotes and seamlessly integrating them into the analysis requires a meticulous approach. Moreover, conveying one's thoughts in a structured and articulate manner is pivotal. The challenge lies in avoiding a mere summary of the plot and instead, delving into the underlying complexities and subtleties that make "A Rose for Emily" a literary masterpiece. In conclusion, writing a literary analysis essay on "A Rose for Emily" demands intellectual rigor, a nuanced understanding of Faulkner's narrative techniques, and the ability to synthesize complex thematic elements. It is a task that requires dedication, critical thinking, and a profound appreciation for the intricacies of the written word. For those seeking assistance in navigating these challenges, similar essays and a wealth of academic support can be found on HelpWriting.net. Whether you're grappling with the nuances of Faulkner's prose or exploring other literary analyses, this resource offers valuable guidance to elevate your academic pursuits. Did you know food banks have their own type of a free market? While reading this article, Sending potatoes to Idaho, I discovered many interesting facts about food banks that I didn t know. I have learned what a free marketis and how foodbanks have been able to apply this economic principle to run more efficiently. Before 2005, Feeding America food banks would just keep what was donated to them or new donations went to the food banks that had been waiting for a long time. This method of collecting and distributing food seemed to work, but they didn t consider what certain food banks needed.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They are also able to barter items. Bartering is when someone trades goods or services that they have for goods or services they need. By bartering, then can negotiate equal values of goods or services to trade. For example, if a food bank has extra canned goods, they can barter with another food bank that has excess fresh produce. There are food banks all over the United States, and they each can grow or specialize in different things. This variety is critical to the free market system being used by the food banks. This way everyone sort of shares what they have, and it gets distributed equally. Feeding America started its own market and they made their own type of currency. Making your own currency is difficult because there are many factors that you must consider. How are they supposed to decide who gets how much, or how do they make it so the prices can fluctuate and have the price level remain somewhat stable? Switching over to a free market system came with a lot of those questions, but for the most part everyone seems to like the system. They have had no major problems with the new

  • 4. Influence Of My Personal Identity A person s identity is shaped by many different aspects. Family, culture, friends, personal interests and surrounding environments are all factors that tend to help shape a person s identity. Some factors may have more of an influence than others and some may not have any influence at all. As a person grows up in a family, they are influenced by many aspects of their life. Family and culture may influence a persons sense of responsibilities, ethicsand morals, tastes in music, humor and sports, and many other aspects of life. Friends and surrounding environments may influence a person s taste in clothing, music, speech, and social activities. Personal interests are what truly set individuals apart. An individualis not a puppet on the string of their puppet master, nor a chess piece on their master s game board, individuals choose their own paths in life. They accomplish, or strive to accomplish, goals that they have set for themselves throughout their lifetime. Individuals are different from any other individual in the world because they live their own life rather than following a crowd of puppets. A person s identity is defined by what shaped it in the first place, why they chose to be who they are, and what makes them different from everybody else in the world. I feel that I have developed most of my identity from my own dreams, fantasies, friends, and idols. I am who I am partly because of my family, but mostly because of who I want myself to be. It was packed into pipes that would spray out of showers. Usually women and children were gassed and they were not told it was going to happen. Many people would be crowded into a room with many showerheads in it, being told they would be able to wash off. However, when the doors would close, the gas would begin to pour out of them into the air. Zyklon Breacts with the air, so everyone was killed after only a short amount of time in the gassing chambers. It is really sad that all these people were murdered in such brutal ways during the Holocaust. I drew a girl, curled up against a wall in a gassing chamber

A student who has a high self efficacy allows himself to believe that he can be successfully academically.(Bozo Flint, 2008) He believes that a challenging problem is a task that can be mastered This student is more committed to work in the classroom. (Schunk,1991). On the other hand, a student who has a low level of self efficacy is likely to be academically motivated. He is more likely to avoid a task that is difficult, give up, make excuses, or lose confidence in his abilities (Margolis McCabe, 2006). This failure becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. Teachers need to find ways to motivate these students by increasing their self efficacy. A... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also, I should be sure to engage the student in conversation about why he was successful in an attempt to relate effort to success. This results in a higher self efficacy as the student is able to complete more tasks and, therefore, believe in his abilities. Goal setting is another useful strategy. The student identifies short term academic goals. An assignment is broken up into smaller tasks and immediate rewards and/or feedback are given as the child reaches each short term goal. Goal setting can be used with any of the strategies mentioned above. For example, in the writing assignment he could say, I will follow all my writing steps as I complete a personal narrative. A goal for the ABC chart could be I will fill in 16 out of 26 letters in my ABC chart. As the student identifies that he has reached his goal, he realizes that he can be successful and his self efficacy slowly increases. The student begins to make positive judgements that he can be academically successful. It is vital for all teachers to determine how to foster the development of each child s self efficacy to support increase motivation. There are many activities that can be created in the classroom to help a student have a higher self efficacy. Regardless of the strategy, each activity helps the student feel that he or she can be academically successful. Many arguments have been made regarding the fairness and discrimination of standardized

  • 10. Benefits Of The GI Bill GI Bill: The Servicemen Readjustment Act of 1944 In World War I, the servicemen had postponed benefits that were promised to them. This caused political turmoil and the response was the Servicemen Readjustment Act of 1944, which is also known as the GI Bill. This bill provided a range of benefits for the returning World War II veterans. The GI Bill made a step in the right direction to ensure rightful benefits to the veterans, but did have faults. The American Legion played an important role in the enactment of the bill. The GI Bill did not advocate discrimination, but had been interpreted differently for African Americans. The bill also did not include Merchant Marines, which were carriers and ships that delivered war supplies to the soldiers. Over the years, adjustments to the GI Bill were made. The Servicemen Readjustment Act of 1944 was enacted after the soldiers of World War I had come back from the war and had troubles making ends meet. The soldiers had help from government benefits, but the benefits were not enough to help soldiers transitioning back to the work force. Congress had stepped in and made the Act of 1924. This Act promised a bonus that was based on the number of days that were served in the military. However, this bonus was not put into action until 20 years later, which was too late for struggling soldiers. A group of veterans called the Bonus Marchers was composed up of 17,000 United States World War I veterans, veterans families, and other groups that were affiliated with them. We ve discovered lands, invented medicines and technology, and endured through catastrophic episodes. Everything we use in our daily lives has evolved from its original state. Some life changing events occurred last year, or maybe centuries ago. Most people couldn t care less how, why, when, and where occasions were taken place and think learning about the pastis useless, but I have to disagree. As a student who has been taking social studies classes since the 1st grade, I believe learning about historical people and events that have shaped the world into being what it is today, is important. History is very important to me because it dwells within the past and tells its events so thoroughly that you can almost imagine yourself living in that period. Plus, knowing the tragedies and mistakes made in the past had and still helps us build a fair and just lifestyle. Studying history gives people the answers they ve been wondering about, such as curiosity of how and why World War II is an unforgettable piece of the past we all know about.... How were the Nazis able to live with themselves when their job was jailing and murdering innocent people? It s something that no one knows the answer
  • 12. Cultural Artifacts In The Wizard Of Oz Cultural Artifacts My first work is the American film, The Wizard of Oz, directed by Viktor Fleming. The film was released in 1939 and is also a musical. The screenplay was written by Noel Langley, Florence Ryerson, and Edgar Allan Woolf. The music was written and composed by Herbert Rosson. The film is based on the book, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, written by L. Frank Baum. It is set at the turn of the 20th century in Kansas and then in the Land of Oz. My second work is the book, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, written by the English writer, C.S. Lewis and published in 1950. It is the Scholastic edition from 1995. The book is set during World War Two in the English country side and then then magical world of Narnia where time is different and therefore cannot be compared to any time period of the real world. Common Theme The common theme I will be exploring is Good vs. Evil . The theme is expressed in The Wizard of Oz throughout the movie through the use of the antagonist, the Wicked Witch of the West pursuing the main character, Dorothy, for the shoes she wears (Fleming LeRoy, 1939). The Wicked Witch wants the shoes for herself because they hold great power, but also because they belonged to her sister, The Wicked Witch of the East (Fleming LeRoy, 1939). However, Glinda The Good Witch of the North, gifts them to Dorothy after she traveled to Oz, in her house and through a cyclone (Fleming LeRoy, 1939). The house landed on the Wicked Witch of the East and
  • 13. Theme Of Violence In A Clockwork Orange And Bonnie And Clyde Paramount themes of violence and extensive uses of graphic imagery are imperative motifs in the classic films, A Clockwork Orange and Bonnie and Clyde. Comparably, these two films use the element of violence to add insight to characters, environment, and further evoke emotions from audiences alike. Directors Stanley Kubrick and Arthur Penn began to push the boundaries of what is deemed acceptable in the film industry by introducing unprecedented levels of graphic content and directional methods of displaying such. On one hand, A Clockwork Orangewas released to American audiences under an X rating due to its brash depictions of violence, rape, sex, and crude language (Thrawn, Clockwork Orange the X Rating ). Regardless, Kubrick chose to include the entirety of what was described in the novella due to its integral part in shaping the dystopian environment and main character Alex McDowell. Narrations of our protagonist s innermost thoughts accompanied by the true colors of his actions aides in building a complete understanding of societal and personal morals. Bonnie and Clydesimilarly uses the harsh reality of violence as a tool to help set the overall tone of the film. The story of famous outlaws, Bonnie and Clyde, is glorified as well as equally condemned through graphic and bloody shootouts where they can be seen ruthlessly taking the lives of innocent people. The choice to amplify the intensity of violence in this movie is cohesive in laying the framework for character values within the two and creates a much more dramatic depiction of the infamous crimes that took place in the 30 s. Throughout both of these films, audiences are given the raw imagery necessary to create accurate and theatrical depictions of our characters actions that define their personalities and surroundings. During the 1960 s, as cultural values changed, revisions were made regarding the film rating system previously established by the Motion Picture Association of America. This change opened up the door to take more artistic freedom when producing their movies (Dirks, Film History of the 1960s ). Although Bonnie and Clyde was released a year before the update, we can still see the progressive approach towards violence through

Subramaniam informed me that: We had choreographed and rehearsed in a studio, so the texture of the grass made it difficult to move initially (Facebook interview, April 29, 2013). Our focus was to try to understand if we can claim true knowledge from the things we think we know, and how we come to know them. Experience seems to be the major factor that plays a role in the way we come to know things. According to contextualists, language, more so the context in which it is used, also plays a role in the way establish knowledge. In this paper we will focus on two contextual theorists, Ludwig Wittgenstein and David Lewis. We will discuss their theories and few skepticisms about their theories. A major contextualist claim is that our attributions of knowledge can vary from person to person based on the user s context. The way we utter sentences, the many different contexts in which we use the words to form statements, may differ in truth value as well. According to an online article in the Stanford Encyclopedia, Patrick Rysiew describes contextualism as entertaining of the possibility of some kind of pluralism concerning epistemic standards. In one instance, this took the form of the claim, in response to skepticism, that there are two senses of know one strong or philosophical , the other weak or ordinary . So too, some of Wittgenstein s claims about the relation between meaning and use and the multiplicity of language games , each with its own set of norms, opened the way for a more thoroughgoing kind of semantic pluralism with

  • 21. The Stereotypes Of Ageing Women In Media Stereotypes of ageing are a common phenomenon in contemporary media, especially in Western cultures. These stereotypes are primarily negative because they make assumptions about ageing women by depicting them as living in a state of ill health, dependency, loneliness, and poor mental and physical functioning. In a similar vein, stereotypes of ageingattempt to show how women at their old age should behave and what they are likely to experience (Dionigi, 2015). Mediaportrayal of ageing females is also negative and undesirable as they play a role in the development of a culture where individuals are meant to follow the negative ageing story whether consciously or unconsciously. This affects ageing females based on how they are treated and perceived by society, leading to stress, hypertension, and other psychological disorders (Milner et al., 2012). The negative representation of older women in media is a form of double marginalization of gender and age as it entails stereotypization. This, therefore, has certain ramifications with regard to how women interpret and experience ageing. This paper discusses how media gives ageing women a definition of being burdensome, controlling, asexual, dependent, and eccentric (Bowman, 2006), that they are no longer represented as the object of male desire. Thus, this essay argues that the undesirability of ageing women is depicted in media through invisibility and inaccurate portrayal, underpinning the idea that ageing women should hide

The skin renewal processes slow down and the epidermal layer becomes progressively thinner. Some of the research of the ingredients, such as vitamin C, was held in 1990s. Further, scientists identified two key chemical helpers to assist in the delivery of vitamin C through the skin. The formulations derived from it led to the development of anti aging skin care products, containing vitamin C and products, which contained a combination of vitamin C and pure Retinol (until recently, it has been extremely hard to combine both Retinol and vitamin C together in a stable formulation, as both ingredients are easily oxidized, when exposed to the air, and become inactive). Cycle Of Terror And Tragedy Analysis To fully understand this artwork, The Cycle of Terror and Tragedy, done by artist Graydon Parrish in 2002, one must have a general understanding of the events that took place on September 11th, 2001. Because the painting is portraying the events and the aftermath to the viewer, it is understood that the audience is aware of this significant date. Parrish has a very strong stance against the actions taken on this day, as he displays this tragic event. The viewer s eye is initially drawn to the two tall screaming men in the center of the photo, used to represent the twin towers. Gender Inequality In Canada Essay Running Head: WHY FEMINISM IS STILL NEEDED IN CANADA Gender inequality, by definition, refers to unequal treatment or perceptions of individuals wholly or partly due to their genders (Wikipedia, 2017). Canada has progressed towards gender equality in multiple aspects; however, there are many areas within Canada in which women are still oppressed due to their gender. For instance, Canadian women in the work force are treated unequally in contrast to men in regards to opportunity, advancement, and salary. It is due to lack of equality within the work field that Canada still requires feminism. The first woman elected into Canadian government, Agnes McPhail, marked history in the year of 1921. It is possible to assume that female dominated jobs aren t viewed as of equal importance than men dominated jobs, this is because society still considers the majority of female occupations girly and more domesticated (Canadian Women s Foundation, 2014). Whereas less females are being appointed to jobs of higher pay with more labour work, such as construction, or of importance, like a lawyer. It is quiet possible that after downloading a particular web page, the local copy of the page residing in the repository of the web pages becomes obsolete compared to the copy on the web. Therefore a need arises to update the database of web pages. Once a decision has been taken to update the pages, it should be ensured that minimal resources are used in the process. Updating only those elements of the database, which have actually undergone a change, can do this. Importance of web pages to be downloaded has been discussed in the above section. It also checks whether the page is already there in the database or not and lowers its priority value if it is referred rather frequently. In this section, we discuss some algorithms to derive certain parameters, which can help in deriving the fact whether the page has changed, or not. These parameters will be calculated at the time of page parsing. When the client again counters the same URL, it just calculates the code by parsing the page without downloading the page and compares it to the current parameters. If changes in parameters are detected, it is concluded that the page has changed and needs to be downloaded again. Otherwise the URL is discarded immediately without further processing. The following changes are of importance when considering changes in a web page: Change in page structure. Change in text contents.

Gabriel, Troy s brother, was one of the characters affected who throughout had his own symbolic meaning to the plays overall theme. Gabriel s role impacted the story in multiple ways. Wilson illustrates Gabriel s symbolic meaning through African Americanveterans not getting proper treatment, greed among family, and salvation as a messenger of God. Wilson establishes Gabriel as a disabled war veteran who has recently returned home. While overseas, Gabriel suffered brain damage and now has a metal plate in his head. One can infer that Wilson is making a social statement about war through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Gabriel is living with Troy he is able to receive some of his money from the Government. Unfortunately for Troy, Gabriel moves out and he is no longer receiving any money. Eventually, Troy realizes he needs the money and betrays Gabriel by having him sent away to a mental hospital for his brain damage affects that have caused him to act in absurd manners (Act II Scene II). It s not directly stated that Troy did for the money but seems to be the only reason why he would do such a thing to his brother. Since in the beginning Troy stated, he would never send his brother to a mental hospital (Act I Scene II). Overall, because Troy wanted half the money that Gabriel received he got his brother sent away. Ruining his relationship with him. However, not everyone in America knows this, and simply ignore that the hardships of most people of color stem from the institutions put in place by colonialism. This is why I believe that it is important for people to be aware of the impacts that colonialism has on people across the world, especially in places like Los Angeles, my hometown. Admittedly, I never knew much about the history of the place I lived in, aside from the splendor of Hollywood or the riots that swept the city during the 90s. However, as I read more about the history of the people who lived here, such as the Tongva people, or the Californios, the more I realize of the abuses that they faced at the hands of white Europeans and Americans that were trying to settle in the region. These abuses continue to be felt today, where the research article, Reading, Writing, and Toxics: Children s Health, Academic Performance, and Environmental Justice in Los Angeles by Manuel Pastor Jr., James L Sadd , and Rachel Morello Frosch explain how people of color were living in places where they were contaminated by toxic chemicals without their knowledge. This is a form of environmental racismthat needs awareness, as living in such conditions could
