Motivation of the Study Learn English through TV is  convenient .   Cartoons especially  attract children . There are  more and more English cartoons  in Taiwan.
Purpose of the Study to examine the effects of English cartoon videos on  the fifth grade elementary school children in Taiwan to explore whether children’s listening ability improve  through the viewing of English cartoons
Significance of the Study to make contribution to around  fifth grade elementary  school children and their parents  in Taiwan to  supply parents guideline  when they choose English  materials for their children to learn English.
Research Questions 1.   Do children learn English through viewing  English cartoons?   2.   Do children’s listening ability improve through  viewing English cartoons?   3.   What is children’s attitude toward learning  English through viewing English cartoons?
Literature Review Media exposure begins early and increases until  children enter school, drops briefly, then climbs and  peaks at almost  eight hours daily  among eleven- and  twelve-year-old.  (Roberts & Foehr, 2008)
Literature Review Using visual clues  to meaning in order to enhance  learning is an important part of video methodology. (Ismail, 2006)
Literature Review Early exposure to age-appropriate programs designed  around an educational curriculum is associated with  cognitive academic enhancement .  (Kirkorian, Wartella, & Anderson, 2008)
