The Importance Of The Past In The Dew Breaker
The past is so vital to the characters of Danticat s novel The Dew Breaker because despite most of the
trauma the characters have undergone in the past, they must keep living with it and tell their story. One
piece of symbolism that is persistent between every chapter are the scars that every character has.
Scars have been a central image of this novel both literally and metaphorically. Each character has
their unique scars that they must carry with them. The story, in the end, talks about how the scars of
the past are the scars of the future. Every scar is a symbol of the characters painful history that they
had to overcome, and now they must carry their past with themselves forever. The scars of the past
define precisely the importance of the past for every individual character. The past is a part of all
people at all moment. Past scars lie over all of the characters in this novel. A character like Ka s father
is once corrupted by partaking in a violent, dictatorial regime. A character like Beatrice is haunted by
the horrors that impose on her in the past. The past is inescapable because it is a core part of a person
that it largely dictates the reasoning behind their actions in present situations. The past is something
which haunts each of the characters in the novel for different reasons. It left a scar on them that they
must forever live with. The past haunts ka s father as a dew breaker under the authority of a Haitian
Dictator. My father never liked

American Hegemony And The Failure Of Nato s Liberal...

POLS 004: International Politics
09 October 2014
American Hegemony and the Failure of NATO s Liberal Institutionalism Liberal institutionalism
provides policymakers with a vision of an idyllic world that is useful for communicating, with heavy
rhetorical flavor, lofty promises to both a domestic and international audience. Theoretically and
empirically, however, the theory fails to stand up against the necessary scrutiny. First, liberal
institutionalism has failed to present itself as a successful challenge to realism, which remains a more
compelling paradigm in the study of international relations. Two of the major faults of this theory
involve its refusal to recognize the basic balance of power interests at play as well as its lack of focus
on explaining how international institutions can prevent the domination of one power. The North
Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) provides a useful lens for examining the issues with
institutionalism, as it demonstrates that international institutions are, in fact, a reflection of realist
tenets. More specifically, the United States determination to maintain its European hegemony through
NATO offers several compelling reasons to criticize institutionalist theory. The country s roles in
NATO in the 1990s revealed the extent to which liberalism has failed as a major paradigm of
international relations. While international institutions at times may seem to foster cooperation among
states, NATO

Social Media
Tweet that!! Post that pic on Instagram!! Slide in my DMs!!! Add me on Snapchat!!! These are the
phrases our generation love to use when we try to interact with one another. Social media is a great
way to open up opportunities and can assist us with getting our merchandise/business/art promoted or
advertised for the world to see. However, there are numerous ways that social media can ruin people s
reputation/careers/future in getting a job. Today I am going to provide the positive and negative
features of social media.
Social networks are successful because they offer widespread participation, but at the same time, they
open their users up to unnecessarily dangerous exposure. (Herring, Mark Y.. Social Media and the
Good Life: Do They Connect? Jefferson NC: McFarland, 2015. ProQuest ebrary. Web. 10 September
2016.). Social media (sometimes defined as social network/networks) can be used to promote your
ideas. Promoting your ideas through social media is a great way your voice to be heard by millions of
other users using the same social media you use every day. Promoting may get you discovered by
celebrities/authors/people who are looking for good marketing. However, some ideas/opinions you
choose to express may cause an uproar of cyberbullying and may cause negative attention to be
directed towards you, which nobody wants to deal with. Communication is also a great advantage that

The Causes And Effects Of Marijuana
According to the United Nations, 158.8 million people around the world use marijuana that is more
than 3.8% of the planet s population (Marijuana statistics, 2017). These statistics indicate that
marijuana is frequently being used around the world without people knowing its positive and negative
effects. Marijuana is one of the most abused drugs in the world. There is an ever growing gap between
the latest science about marijuana and the myths surrounding it (drug facts, marijuana). A lot of people
around the world are still ignorant about marijuana and its uses. They do not even know about its
existence. Marijuana is a slow poison that deteriorates the body and the person consuming it loses the
ability to think about his own welfare. When a person loses the ability to think, that is when his
downfall starts. There are effective uses of marijuana, yet there are also serious issues that should be
considered and therefore, all this leads us to research more deeply into this matter and make all
possible efforts to understand the causes and effect of marijuana more effectively.
Marijuana can lead to a lot of genetic damage to our human body which can further result in other
ailments. Based on the results of an experimental study published in the journal Chemical Research in
Toxicology (2009), investigators reported that carcinogenic potential of marijuana is attributed to
compounds like acetaldehyde. Acetaldehyde can change the structure of DNA in our body which can

To The Memory Of Some I Knew Who Are Dead And Who Loved...
The Easter Rising of 1916 occurred in Ireland in the midst of World War One, and the two events are
closely entwined. Many Irish people initially struggled to reconcile the politics of Irish nationalism
with Irish contributions to World War One. George Russell was one of the first to attempt to offer an
equal commemoration of both events. In 1917, Russell published his poem To the Memory of Some I
Knew Who are Dead and Who Loved Ireland in the Irish Times. This poem was a revised version of
Salutation, which Russell had written to commemorate the rebels of the Easter Rebellion. In the
revised version, Russell interspersed each stanza about the rebels with stanzas about Irish soldiers.
Russell unites these two great losses and their ideologies. He reveals the shared struggle in the trauma
of both events, forming the foundation for a collective memory and shared Irish identity. To the

Easter Rising through commemoration ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many Irish opposed the actions of the National Volunteers, the group promoting Irish nationalism and
a small faction of who were responsible for the Rebellion. Resistance of British rule seemed
inappropriate to many during the war. In Myths and Memories of the Easter Rising, Jonathan Githens
Mazer states that opinion hardened against the Volunteers over the entire course of the Rising,
especially because it brought fighting to Dublin. He notes that women, particularly poor women,
disliked the Volunteers, because many...had husbands and relations fighting for the British on the
continent. For those losing family and friends to the war, their focus remained on the war effort and
not on opposing British

Gender Roles In Gender Socialization
Girls and boys both grow up being socialized on what is normal and unusual for their gender. At a
young age they are given the idea of what is expected of them based on whether they are male or
female. Toys are a prominent factor in this socialization, because they are typically presented for one
gender and are unacceptable for the other. To assess how toys play a role in gender socialization, I
made a trip to Toys R Us in College Station and surprisingly found that the gender beliefs have
changed quite a bit since I was a child in the late 90s to early 2000s. The first thing that went through
my mind when walking into the store was to look for the Girls and Boys signs that would indicate to
me which section was for which gender. There weren t any signs though! Toys R Us had their aisles
organized by categories such as arts crafts, travel systems, learning education, bikes wheels, sports,
and fun. In order to determine what aisle may be targeted to one gender, I looked at what types of toys
were in the aisles and what were the dominant colors in each aisle. The aisles I assumed to be for girls
were filled with lots of pink while boy aisles had darker colors such as blue, green, orange, and dark
purple. The majority of girl toys were composed of beauty sets, dress up, and dolls whereas boy toys
were super heroes, Legos, tools, and vehicles. There wasn t a huge selection in gender neutral toys, but
the ones offered were more on the educational side. Most of the

Evolution Of Zombies In The 21st Century
Throughout the history of filmography, the genre of zombies has changed from its origin in the early
1900s to its current conception in the 21st century. Zombies are known for being lifeless, brain eating,
and slow moving undead creatures. In movies and shows, we often see them feasting upon the living
where there are protagonists or better known as the survivors, fighting for survival. The similarities we
see 2015 in comparison to the 1930s illustrate zombies as more gorey, with less human features or
characteristics. In the early 1930s, zombies stemmed from a Haitian tradition; which incorporated the
use of a voodoo spell that reanimated the dead. Now it s a murderous virus that spread and turn the

Procter Gamble s Impact On The World
On May 6, 2010 the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell nearly 1,000 points in five minutes. That
means the Dow lost about $1 Trillion in market value at a rate of $3,333,333,333.33 per second.
Strangely, 30 minutes later the market rebounded gaining back nearly all that was lost. Who s to blame
for such an event? A better question may be, What is to blame? The media immediately blamed high
frequency trading. It took the government three months of research with a team of more than 20
investigators to achieve an inconclusive result with little to no forward guidance as to how to prevent
it from happening again. Why? Because high frequency trading is not illegal and it is not unethical, it
s just plain complicated.
During the Flash Crash, as the media coined it, individuals lost millions, companies lost billions and
stock prices had essentially bottomed. According to the Financial Times, ...Procter Gamble s share
price fell 37 percent at one point (Legacy, 2013) and shares in management consultancy firm
Accenture...dropped from $40 to 1 CENT (Legacy, 2013). For these things to have happened, it is
pretty obvious that something superhuman was at work. In this case, it was actually supercomputers.
There is a method of stock trading known as Algorithmic Trading. As the name implies, algorithms are
used to make buy and sell orders in the stock market. A subset of Algorithmic Trading, known as High
Frequency Trading (HFT), was blamed by the media for the Flash Crash.

16 Candles Comparison
The film 16 Candles has very little teacher presence. However, even the lack of teacher presence
presents ideas about teachers and their roles in the schools. The film 16 Candles opts to focus on the
lives of students outside of a traditional classroom setting. The main focus on the students also
contains several tropes about American high school life, including gender and race. The representation
of these suburban parents, teachers, and students in 16 Candles is comparable to the suburban TV
show Buffy: The Vampire Slayer and they share many similarities in their portrayal of characters,
while differing greatly from urban films. The only teacher in the film appears at the beginning and is
only present for a miniscule amount of screen time. On the chalkboard behind him, there are insults
written about him, presumably from the students in his class. This type of disrespect is only seen in
suburban school films and would have serious repercussions if students in urban settings were to
partake in such activities. The teacher is not looking at the class; the class is noisy and unruly. This
representation perpetuates the idea of an uncaring, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In contrast to 16 Candles, the show focuses almost exclusively on Buffy and her narrative. She is not
overshadowed by the stories of the males in the series. In spite of this, Buffy is still implicated in the
concept that females must have a male love object to talk about. Buffy and her friend Willow spend a
considerable amount of screen time discussing crushes and love interests. Unlike in 16 Candles
though, the love interests discussed in Buffy: The Vampire Slayer are often nuanced, not based solely
on popularity or physical appearance. Buffy does not always end up with the boy she is interested in
and not all of her relationships are perfect, unlike in 16 Candles, where Sam and Jake mutually like
each other and end up together in the

Justice in Hamlet
In the revenge play of Hamlet, the idea of poetic justice can be seen throughout the play various times.
Shakespeare allows the reader to understand the mistakes of each character by killing them off in a
justly manner. While seeking revenge, the main characters of the play earn their poetic ending,
permitting Shakespeare to restore the karmic balance of the play. Claudius, Leartes, Polonius, are all
killed poetically as a direct result of their actions, while Ophelia is used to reiterate the poetic justices
in the other character because of the fact that she is not killed poetically.

these actions and character traits will continue throughout the play and will lead to his poetic death.
Even though his death is an accident, he gets what he deserves because he is where he shouldn t be:
the King and Queen s chambers. Hamlet thinks he is Claudius and that is why he kills him. When
Hamlet finds out that it is, in fact, Polonius he says, Thou wretched, rash, intruding fool, farewell. I
took thee for thy better. Take thy fortune. Thou find st to be too busy is some danger. (A.III.sc.iv.ln 32

Judaism As A Monotheistic Religion
Judaism is known to be a monotheistic religion, that is historic religion of Jewish people, which is said
to be one of the oldest religions that fall under the monotheistic religion that believes in God, and that
God is an all knowing, all powerful God that created the world as well as everything that is in it
(Voorst,2013). Judaism foundation started in the original covenant made between Abraham and God,
circa 1900 BCE, when Abraham was called to leave his home in Ur and travel to Cannan, which was
later known as Palestine and Israel, the land which God promised to give to his descendants
(Swartz,2005). Years later, there was a second covenant with Moses, who led the Jews out of slavery
in Egypt, exodus back to the lands of Canaan. At Mt Horeb also known as Sinai, is where God gave
the Jewish people the Ten Commandants as was as other rules to live by which are found in the Torah,
as well as the first five books of the Bible, marking the beginning of Judaism as a structured religion

Questions On Organizational Communication Concepts Essay
1. The movie I chose for this assignment is The Terminal.
2 Three Organizational Communication Concepts:
Organizational Cultural Elements: According to Keyton (n.d.), organizational culture is defined as the
set of artifacts, values and assumptions that emerges from the interactions of organizational members
(p. 550). Some examples of artifacts and values include, norms, customs, how members should
behave, and assumptions are revealed when talking about your work experiences. The culture of an
organization can be simply what it feels like to be there (Keyton, n.d.). Every culture is dynamic,
always changing and guides the construction of reality in a social community. There are 7 elements of
culture which include metaphors, rituals, stories, artifacts, heroes and heroines, performances and
values (class notes, Oct. 25). In the movie The Terminal the culture is constantly changing and when
Viktor Navorski arrives, just his presence and the things he does changes the culture of the terminal
and those people that he comes in contact with. One element is artifacts, this can include how he
gathers the carts and puts them back to get the quarters. When I think of artifacts I think of how he
remodeled the space where he is living; gate 67. He added a plant and a wheel chair with a blanket and
made his space his home. He made one area like a restaurant when he had dinner with Amelia. The
restaurants, stores, customs office etc. are all elements of artifacts. In the movie

How and why did the apartheid system come into existence...
The term apartheid was one of the most politically charged words in the second half of the 20th
century, and still remains notorious today. Apartheid translated from Afrikaans means separateness or
apartness . However when the National Party came to power in South Africa in 1948, it took on a
much more sinister meaning and today is associated with racial and ethnic discrimination. The roots of
apartheid stem deep into South African history. It started way back during European settlement, and
was enforced and maintained right up until the end of the 20th Century. It will forever leave a mark on
South Africa and indeed the world; a dark period in human history from which we have and will
continue to learn.

Apartheid came about in South Africa because of an Afrikaner belief of their god given right to Africa,
which was also a racist one. Apartheid was therefore a means to support and institutionalize their view
on how the country should be run.
Apartheid was kept in place through various means, mainly the use of legislation and technology. The
main way that the government implement apartheid was through legislation. There were countless
laws and bills passed, which over time stripped black Africans of their rights, all the while favoring
the white elite of South Africa. Race laws affected every social aspect of life in apartheid South
Africa. The early policies that were made when the National Party first came into power set the base
for the later policies to take effect and branch off. These policies embodied what the apartheid regime
was all about, notably two of the earliest policies made, being the Population Registration Act and the
Group Areas Act. Both were made in 1950, with the Population Registration Act requiring al South
Africans to be racially classified into either white, black or colored, and the Group Areas Act which
geographically separated the racial groups.
These laws and policies prevented the black population having the same privileges, standards of living
and status as the white South Africans. Under the apartheid system everyday life was greatly affected

Communism s Effect on Technology
World War II began because of an invasion from Nazi Germany to Poland causing Britain to declare
war on Germany. During the fall of World War II and the beginning of the Cold War, space
exploration was at the top of America s to do list. America was not the only country interested in
gaining answers about the solar system and its planets. There were many times during the Cold War
where the Soviet Union would have dramatic increases in science and technology. The Union of
Soviet Socialist Republics also known and the Soviet Union or USSR was a nation located in Eastern
Europe and Northwestern Asia and its capital was Moscow. The competition between the United
States and the USSR to see who could explore space by using artificial satellites and manned

Mythology 3rd Hour
April 4th, 2016
The War of the Aesir and the Vanir In Norse mythology, gods and goddesses usually belong to one of
two tribes: the Aesir and the Vanir. Throughout most of the Norse tales, deities from the two tribes get
along fairly easily, and it s hard to pin down firm distinctions between the two groups. But there was a
time when that wasn t the case.
The War of the Gods
The Vanir goddess Freya was always the foremost practitioner of the art of seidr, a form of magic
principally concerned with discerning and altering the course of destiny. Like historical seidr
practitioners, she wandered from town to town plying her craft for hire.
Under the name Heiðr ( Bright ), she eventually came to Asgard, the home of the Aesir. The Aesir
were quite taken by her powers and zealously sought her services. But soon they realized that their
values of honor, kin loyalty, and obedience to the law were being pushed aside by the selfish desires
they sought to fulfill with the witch s magic. Blaming Freya for their own shortcomings, the Aesir
called her Gullveig ( Gold greed ) and attempted to murder her. Three times they tried to burn her, and
three times she was reborn from the ashes.
Because of this, the Aesir and Vanir came to hate and fear one another, and these hostilities erupted
into war. The Aesir fought by the rules of plain combat, with weapons and brute force, while the Vanir
used the subtler means of magic. The war went on for some

Qin Dynasty Dbq Essay
The earliest Emperor of the Qin dynasty was Qin Shi Huang, who was born in 259BCE and ultimately
came into power at the age of 21. Despite accomplishing many significant achievements, he attained
this in a brutal and callous way. Arguments that will be clearly discussed and explained in this
assignment to emphasize the negative aspects of Qin Shi Huang are: the severe punishments he
enforced for criminals, his fierce and deceitful war strategies and the prohibiting and burning of
Confucius teachings.
Qin Shi Huang was feared by his subjects as he was seen as a barbaric and ruthless autocrat who took
extreme measures to preclude rebellion in his empire, mostly by enforcing severe punishments for
criminals. (Source 1) The penalty for major crime

Samsung Competitive Advantage
Further development of the enterprise depends on way it performs under outer factors of the market.
Regarding Porter s model of business competition forces, the company s position is analyzed
throughout five aspects (Mind Tools Editor Team, 2016). There is a significant threat of the new
competitions as this company is not the only retailer company in the world of electronics and gadgets.
Buyer s behavior defines the future effectiveness of the company as it mostly depends on the way
representatives of the target market are ready to buy top notch products by Apple and Samsung. On
this level of business performance, individual success of the company is closely connected with the
way these companies present themselves and their products on the market. At the same time, the
position of the enterprise s suppliers is vital as they define the competitiveness and variety of goods to
present to the customers. Finally, the competitiveness between the existing members of the market my
significantly influences the GWEL s performance throughout the first several years. Apparently, the
GWEL expects to invest a significant amount of income into further development of the company for
the following five years concerning strong positions of the competitors on the market. To get a
competitive advantage, the GWEL has a developed approach towards each of the five aspects. The
enterprise defines it activity through analysis of the competitors and their paradigms of market
behavior to outline

Concerns about Health in the United Kingdom have Increased...
The worries of health and environmental issues in the United Kingdom have increased the demand of
organic food mainly to reduce off farm inputs and to increase health nutrients in our daily intake . The
UK is a MEDC, because it is considered as a rich country, and due to the UK receiving raw resources
from LEDC. The UK uses these raw materials for the outcome of any industry. One of UK s biggest
industries is the food industry, because everyone needs food and nutrients in their body, to be able to
stay alive. The food industry is a primary industry and a secondary industry because the food industry
consist of growing raw crops, making it a primary industry, and the food industry also uses these raw
crops to make other food/products. The reasons why health and environmental concerns in the United
Kingdom has increased the demand of organic food is that there are physical damage and effects on
the environment , the society is motivated to be healthier , and lastly it s worth the price .
The environment is getting worse due to many reasons, one of being off farm input , which is effecting
and damaging the environment. Off farm input consists of fertilizers, fungicides, herbicides and
pesticides, which is used on agriculture to grow faster and larger. These off farm input is effecting and
damaging the environment, through the chemicals in the pesticides and fertilizers, creating
groundwater contamination. The Environmental Protection Agency has stated that herbicides

Strengths Of Person Centered Approach
In the person centered approach abnormal behavior occurs when individuals are not able to be their
authentic selves. It states that individuals must first have their basic needs met before they can become
their authentic selves. However, many individuals do not have those basic needs met, so they are not
able to pursue their truest passions in life. A therapist using the person centered approach might view
an individual s depression stemming from the inability to truly be their authentic self. For example, an
individual may want to pursue a certain career; such as to become a teacher, but at the same time this
same individual has been pressured to become a doctor from outside forces. A therapist might then
work with the individual to help them recognize their dream of becoming a teacher, and figure out an
approach to best ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bohart and Watson (2011) believe that another strength is the fact that the counselor does not assume
the role as expert who will impose the right way of being on the client (p. 185). The person centered
approach can be used in family, group, or individual therapy. In group settings clients are able to
interact with people facing similar situations as themselves. With young children, it is commonly used
as play therapy. On the other hand, this approach does not really challenge the client to look beyond
changing their outlook on new life experiences. It also does not have a variety of interventions or
techniques to employ in a therapeutic setting. This approach is also undirected, meaning that the client
is the one who has to find the solution to their own problems rather than the therapist telling or
advising them what to

The Common Disease Of Addison s Disease
Abstract Addison s Disease goes unnoticed in a lot of people. Addison s is sometimes called the
uncommon common disease because people are walking around with it but the symptoms are so
closely associated with other illnesses, go undetected. Knowledgeable professionals are even hard to
find. People knowing living with Addison s Disease are constantly in fear not knowing if they were to
go in a crisis, who would have enough knowledge about the disease to assist. Yes, most first
responders, ER staff, physicians offices, are clueless. There just isn t enough information to about this
disease to help people with it which is why I chose to be an advocate. My wife has the uncommon
common disease and immediately our lives would change. I won t say it was for worse nor will I say
for good, it s just changed. There are all kind of foundations out there trying to raise awareness of this
disease but they are mainly in the larger areas and major hospitals. I want as many people as possible
to know about this disease that really does makes it impossible to get out of bed, to know about this
disease that makes you feel sick as a dog . I hope to help at least one person know more about this
disease each day. Let s raise awareness. Understanding Addison s Disease and its impact Of all the

Solicitors General Influence Supreme Court Justices
Bailey, Kamoie, and Maltzma s article answers the question to whether Solicitors General (S.G.)
influence Supreme Court justices to behave differently than they would like. The article argues that
unlike some studies that assert that S.G. s influence the justices decisions, the reality is somewhat
contradictory. They claim that Justices are more sympathetic to motions from the S.G. when both the
justice and S.G. are ideologically proximate or when the Solicitors General s motion is conflicting to
his own ideological tendency. According to them, justices will find a solicitor general s information
more credible when the solicitor general and the justice are ideologically congruent or when the signal
from the S.G. is ideologically counter to his typical policy views . (p 72) That means justices are
sympathetic to the SG s signals under two circumstances: when their ideology is close to the S.G. s
ideology or when the S.G. files a motion that opposes his own ideological tendency. ... Show more

By using the signaling theory to defend their position, it makes impossible to interpret their thinking
as valid. In fact, the signaling theory suggests that organisms with contradictory interests should be
expected to communicate honestly. That means justices sympathize with the S.G. when he files a
motion that opposes his own ideological predisposition because they believe the SG could only vote
against his own ideology if he/she is sincere. Also, the authors approach focuses on success of the S.G.
rather than the influence. Bailey, Kamoie, and Maltzma s logic is that the S.G. wins cases depending

Achondroplasia Essay
Achondroplasia (ACH) is the most common form of short limb dwarfism occuring in 1 in 15,000 to
28,000 births and appears to be slightly more prevalent in females, but indiscriminent toward race (1
3). Evidence has been found in Egypt for cases of ACH dating back as far as 4500 B.C. (4). In
simplest terms, ACH is a disease where the dwarfing of bones formed in the cartilage occurs (5).
There are many features that accompany this disease including rhizomelic (proximal) shortening of
the extremities, megalencephaly (enlarged brain), short stature, trident hand, and frontal bossing
(prominent forehead) (1, 3, 4, 6 8). Expression of this gene at high levels is primarily found in cells of

A point mutation is one where only one nucleotide is changed and a missense mutation is when the
amino acid changes due to the base(s) mutated. FGFR3 consists of 19 exons, with the mutation
occuring in exon 10 (1, 16). Furthermore, the mutated base is 1138, where the base can undergo two
possible mutations. G(guanine)→A(adenine) transition accounts for 98% of all cases of ACH while
the G→C(cytosine) transversion mutation occurs in 1% of cases (6). Both of these mutations result in
the amino acid arginine being substituted for glycine at codon 380 which is in the transmembrane of
FGFR3 (1, 4, 17) (See Figure 1). The FGFR3 mutation is a gain of function mutation due to the
resulting activation of receptors, which is opposite the normal inhibitory effect the FGFR3 has on the
receptors, which upon activation, negatively regulate bone growth (4, 6). Thus, FGFR3 has been
found to become hyperactivated when mutated and undergo ligand independent dimerization (1, 11,
18). De novo mutations account for 80 90% of all cases of ACH (1, 4, 7, 8, 11). Recent research has
determined that increased paternal age correlates to this specific mutation occuring (4, 7, 11, 19). The
maternal age seems to have no effect, meaning that the de novo mutation occurs during
spermatogenesis (20). This has also been studied and each affected individual was found to have
received the mutated chromosome paternally (21). There has only been one documented case of an

Holden s Loss Of Hope In Catcher In The Rye
In the last two chapter of Catcher In the Rye, Holden s emotions and relation to hope is constantly
changing. Hope is a strange thing in Holden s mind and in the book, for he often has a lack of hope
causing him depression. He thinks there is nothing in the world for him, and that he is alone,
concluding after much time to run away again. But in the end, he never runs away because of his rock.
This rock, the thing that holds him in New York City, is his sister, Phoebe. She is the one who gives
the hope in the book to Holden, whether through her innocent mind or her childish play. This hope is
what makes Holden happy, causing him to try another school. Holden loses hope in the beginning of
Chapter 25, causing him depression and despair, but it is because of his sister, Phoebe, that Holden
becomes hopeful. After leaving Mr. Antolini s house because of Antolini s actions, Holden finds
himself on the street with nowhere to go. He said, I can t sleep so hot if I have to keep my feet on the
floor. So I sat up. I still had that head ace. It was even worse. And I think I was more depressed than I
ever was in my whole life. (The Catcher in the Rye) Holden is depressed as he said, which can show

Comparing The Lowest Animal And A Time Of Gifts
The Lowest Animal, was written by Mark Twain and it portrays the bad side of man. Twain goes over
the negative characteristics of man in comparison with animals. On the other hand, A Time of Gifts,
by Stephen Gould portrays the good side of man. Gould focuses on the good characteristics of man
and how these good characteristics shine through in times of trial. Both the good and bad sides of man
have importance and each side can be easily argued for. Whether good outweighs the bad or bad
outweighs the good is a controversial debate. In The Lowest Animal, Mark Twain s story declares that
man is not the Top animal, but is in fact the animal of lowest descent. Twain points out how man is
needlessly cruel, greedy, indecent, brutal, etc. Animals do not have the ability to decipher between
right and wrong. They do only what they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gould declares that the goodness in the word overrides all of the bad. In times of crisis, man will stand
together and the good will shine through. Every spectacular incident of evil will be balanced by
10,000 acts of kindness. (Gould) Whether man is good or bad as a whole comes down to each
individual perception by every person.
Man is good, but man is also bad. Good doesn t override the bad and bad doesn t override the good.
You can not have light without darkness or darkness without light. It is the same with the good and
bad sides of man. One can not exist without the other. The goodness of man should outweigh the bad
but that is impossible. The true nature of man is good but that good can be easily tainted throughout
life. The little acts of kindness throughout the world keep the evil at bay. Good and evil are at a
balance but whether the true nature of man is ultimately good or ultimately bad comes down to each

Windows versus Linux Essay
Windows vs. LINUX
Both Windows and Linux come in many different forms. All the different forms of Windows come
from Microsoft, the various distributions of Linux come from different companies (ex. Red Hat,
SuSE, Linspire, Ubuntu, Mandriva, Knoppix, etc). Windows has two main lines: Win9x , which is
consists of Windows 95, 98, 98SecondEdition and ME, and NT class which consists of Windows NT,
200 and XP. On a side note, Windows first had version 3.x which was made before Windows 95 by a
couple of years. The various types of Linux are called distributions. All the Linux distributions
released around the same time frame will use the same kernel, which are the guts of the OS. They will

Some, like Lindows, do not write anything on the hard disk. There is a downside to running an OS
from a CD is speed and continuity. Versions such as SuSE, use the hard disk. What you gain in speed,
you give up in safety. Now a days you are not limited to just a CD, you can now have a Linux
distribution run from a flash drive.
Windows and Linux provide a GUI (Graphical User Interface) and a command line interface. The
Windows GUI has changed dramatically from Windows 3.1 to Windows 95, slightly to Windows
2000, big change to Windows XP and is scheduled to change again with the new version of Windows
recently named Vista. Themes is a feature in Windows which lets you customize to an extent the look
of your GUI. Linux typically provides two GUIs, KDE and Gnome. Of the major distributions,
Lindows has made their user interface resemble Windows a lot more than the others. Text mode
interface is also known as a command interpreter. Windows users know this as DOS prompt. It is
called a shell in Linux. Windows has a single command interpreter but the different types of Windows
have different interpreters. Linux, just as all versions of UNIX, supports multiple command
interpreters, but Linux usually uses one called BASH (Bourne Again Shell). A few other shells are the
C shell, ash shell, and the bourne shell.

Advantages Of The Jury System
The jury system of a trial is an essential element of the democratic process. Some people think that the
American jury system is not a good thing because you are going off other peoples opinions, on the
other hand people think it is a good thing because they say that is a fair way to make a decision in
court. A jury group is a group of citizens which hears the testimony in legal disputes and determines
what it believes is the truth. In court, we settle criminal law, and civil law cases with jury members to
help. I personally think that the American jury system is still a good and helpful thing to use.
One reason why I think the jury system is still a good thing to use during a court case is that, normal
citizens get called to a trial, decide on a case, and try to persuade the judge about whether or not the
defendant is guilty or innocent. Another good thing is that none of the reasoning is biased, which
means all of the facts/reasoning the jury members are giving isn t opinionated. People that have
observed jury systems say that it has remarked the ability to help ordinary citizens into self governors
and get involved in civic participation. The trial by jury process puts the people in control. The people
have ultimate control in the legislative and executive branches. (Doc C)
In some cases, the jury system being what they use can be debatable. I think it is always what you
should use to determine if the defendant is guilty or innocent during a trial. The jury system

Poetry Is No I Don t Mean Putting A Couple Words Together...
What is poetry? No I don t mean putting a couple words together that rhyme. Rhyme scheme is only a
component of what poetry is. I got this question asked before beginning the unit of poetry. I said When
I think about poetry I think of the flow of a river out into the ocean. The sounds and sight of this
reminds me of poetry. The sounds that the river makes are relaxing and calm as they empty into a vast
body of water. It s like the mind of a poet emptying onto a piece of paper or a keyboard. The sight of
the river flowing also reminds me of poetry. Some poems seem so calm as they empty into the ocean,
so serene. That is what poetry is to me. The flow of thoughts that create a piece of art that is called a
poem. Just as the flow of a calm river that creates another piece of art, called an ocean.
After having my own chance to write my own poem, and also having to recite another poet s poem,
my perspective changed a bit on the whole concept of poetry. Now if someone were to ask me what
poetry is and what it meant I would say poetry is a way to express ones self. Writing a poem is another
way of showing whom you are and how you feel to people who don t know you, or people who don t
know you well enough. It s also a way to relax and release some stress. Just like athletes go to the gym
when they need to relieve some stress, writers grab their notebook and a pencil. Poetry is like picking
out what clothes you want to wear in the morning. You can either decide to be yourself

Impact Of The Scottish Independent Movement
Impact of the Scottish Independent Movement The United Kingdom has always been an ardent
opponent of constitutional reform. In fact the very fact that through nearly a millennia they have
refused to produce their constitution in a formal written structure reiterates that sentiment. And
although the undercurrent of maintaining certain traditional and cultural norms remains strong, the
national government has on frequent occasion had to accept the often frequent and ill fated changes
within the local government. Throughout history the lion s share of these local changes have revolved
around the relationship between the formerly autonomous countries of Wales, Scotland, and Ireland.
But a comprehensive analysis of these complicated relationships requires a much more lengthy
background. As a result this paper will attempt to analyze the proposition of transfer of power in
greater part to the local government of Scotland within the context of the last decades of the 20th
century into the first decade of the 21st. A modern approach to the increasing separation of Scotland
and England can been seen beginning with the Labour Party during the 1970 s. The indecision and
hesitation with respect to reform was epitomized in the bold and determined proposal of the 1974
Labour government decentralization and transfer of power for Wales and Scotland. The policy was an
ill fated one largely in part to the internal divisions of the Labour party during this epoch. Fortunately

Memory Is The Diary That We All Carry About With Us
Oscar Wilde said that Memory... is the diary that we all carry about with us. Every page of our diary
filled with a series of memories, but we wouldn t make a perfectly diary. Sometimes we lost pictures
in the diary, sometimes we miss spell words; just like memories will become vague and pass out of
mind. The process of memory includes Encoding, Storage, and Retrieval; those three parts correlate
and restrict each other. Memory storage is a step encompasses how information is retained over time
(Laura, 2013). As two of the systems involved in memory storage short term memory (STM) and the
long term memory (LTM) and play an important role when people recalling specific memory.
The paper will discuss both STM and LTM based on the textbook, then compare and contrast the
information on the textbook, to discuss memory psychologically. There are several resources include
this paper, although each resource explains and discusses different significant title, but relevant to the
information process in memory. The resources focus on the reason of memory failure in order to
explore the method to improve STM and long term memory. Those resources are discovered in
psychology database and intimately relate to the topic.
When you want to retain a phone number without paper and pen, people most likely will either
grouping number into chunk or rehearse the information constantly or visualize in your mind. This is

This art´s condition was throwing into crisis with the emergency of avant garde movements from the
late 19th century in Europe, because these movements recognized on this status autonomy of art a lack
of self criticism by art, not only in the art institution in its separation from the praxis of life ; but also
to bourgeois society as a whole. In other words, the avant garde is understood as a form of self
consciousness of artistic field, with a very clear interest to break the art´s autonomy, while separate
form of production, as a necessary condition to redirect the art into life. According to Peter Bürger,
with the reintegration of art into praxis proposes a revolution in the life, which causes a revolution in
the art. As Bürger states, the avant garde movements that sought to break with the bourgeois autonomy
of art and thereby apply a strong self criticism to art institutionally were: the Russian Constructivism,
closely linked with the Revolution of 1917; Dadaism and its negation of art as institution; and the
Surrealism. Nonetheless, after the World War II in the middle of the 20th century, the avant garde
schism became a crisis, failing in its quest to eliminate the division between art and life and its critical
self consciousness about this, which meant its co option by the art institution,

Social media is a great way to open up opportunities and can assist us with getting our merchandise/business/art promoted or advertised for the world to see. However, there are numerous ways that social media can ruin people s reputation/careers/future in getting a job. Today I am going to provide the positive and negative features of social media. Social networks are successful because they offer widespread participation, but at the same time, they open their users up to unnecessarily dangerous exposure. (Herring, Mark Y.. Social Media and the Good Life: Do They Connect? Jefferson NC: McFarland, 2015. ProQuest ebrary. Web. 10 September 2016.). Social media (sometimes defined as social network/networks) can be used to promote your ideas. Promoting your ideas through social media is a great way your voice to be heard by millions of other users using the same social media you use every day. Promoting may get you discovered by celebrities/authors/people who are looking for good marketing. • 8. The Causes And Effects Of Marijuana According to the United Nations, 158.8 million people around the world use marijuana that is more than 3.8% of the planet s population (Marijuana statistics, 2017). These statistics indicate that marijuana is frequently being used around the world without people knowing its positive and negative effects. Marijuana is one of the most abused drugs in the world. There is an ever growing gap between the latest science about marijuana and the myths surrounding it (drug facts, marijuana). A lot of people around the world are still ignorant about marijuana and its uses. They do not even know about its existence. Marijuana is a slow poison that deteriorates the body and the person consuming it loses the ability to think about his own welfare. When a person loses the ability to think, that is when his downfall starts. There are effective uses of marijuana, yet there are also serious issues that should be considered and therefore, all this leads us to research more deeply into this matter and make all possible efforts to understand the causes and effect of marijuana more effectively. Marijuana can lead to a lot of genetic damage to our human body which can further result in other ailments. Based on the results of an experimental study published in the journal Chemical Research in Toxicology (2009), investigators reported that carcinogenic potential of marijuana is attributed to compounds like acetaldehyde. • 9. To The Memory Of Some I Knew Who Are Dead And Who Loved... The Easter Rising of 1916 occurred in Ireland in the midst of World War One, and the two events are closely entwined. Many Irish people initially struggled to reconcile the politics of Irish nationalism with Irish contributions to World War One. George Russell was one of the first to attempt to offer an equal commemoration of both events. In 1917, Russell published his poem To the Memory of Some I Knew Who are Dead and Who Loved Ireland in the Irish Times. This poem was a revised version of Salutation, which Russell had written to commemorate the rebels of the Easter Rebellion. In the revised version, Russell interspersed each stanza about the rebels with stanzas about Irish soldiers. Russell unites these two great losses and their ideologies. He reveals the shared struggle in the trauma of both events, forming the foundation for a collective memory and shared Irish identity. • 10. Gender Roles In Gender Socialization Girls and boys both grow up being socialized on what is normal and unusual for their gender. At a young age they are given the idea of what is expected of them based on whether they are male or female. Toys are a prominent factor in this socialization, because they are typically presented for one gender and are unacceptable for the other. To assess how toys play a role in gender socialization, I made a trip to Toys R Us in College Station and surprisingly found that the gender beliefs have changed quite a bit since I was a child in the late 90s to early 2000s. The first thing that went through my mind when walking into the store was to look for the Girls and Boys signs that would indicate to me which section was for which gender. There weren t any signs though! Toys R Us had their aisles organized by categories such as arts crafts, travel systems, learning education, bikes wheels, sports, and fun. In order to determine what aisle may be targeted to one gender, I looked at what types of toys were in the aisles and what were the dominant colors in each aisle. The aisles I assumed to be for girls were filled with lots of pink while boy aisles had darker colors such as blue, green, orange, and dark purple. The majority of girl toys were composed of beauty sets, dress up, and dolls whereas boy toys were super heroes, Legos, tools, and vehicles. There wasn t a huge selection in gender neutral toys, but the ones offered were more on the educational side. Most of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Evolution Of Zombies In The 21st Century Throughout the history of filmography, the genre of zombies has changed from its origin in the early 1900s to its current conception in the 21st century. Zombies are known for being lifeless, brain eating, and slow moving undead creatures. In movies and shows, we often see them feasting upon the living where there are protagonists or better known as the survivors, fighting for survival. The similarities we see 2015 in comparison to the 1930s illustrate zombies as more gorey, with less human features or characteristics. That means the Dow lost about $1 Trillion in market value at a rate of $3,333,333,333.33 per second. Strangely, 30 minutes later the market rebounded gaining back nearly all that was lost. Who s to blame for such an event? A better question may be, What is to blame? The media immediately blamed high frequency trading. It took the government three months of research with a team of more than 20 investigators to achieve an inconclusive result with little to no forward guidance as to how to prevent it from happening again. Why? Because high frequency trading is not illegal and it is not unethical, it s just plain complicated. During the Flash Crash, as the media coined it, individuals lost millions, companies lost billions and stock prices had essentially bottomed. According to the Financial Times, ...Procter Gamble s share price fell 37 percent at one point (Legacy, 2013) and shares in management consultancy firm Accenture...dropped from $40 to 1 CENT (Legacy, 2013). The film 16 Candles opts to focus on the lives of students outside of a traditional classroom setting. The main focus on the students also contains several tropes about American high school life, including gender and race. The representation of these suburban parents, teachers, and students in 16 Candles is comparable to the suburban TV show Buffy: The Vampire Slayer and they share many similarities in their portrayal of characters, while differing greatly from urban films. The only teacher in the film appears at the beginning and is only present for a miniscule amount of screen time. On the chalkboard behind him, there are insults written about him, presumably from the students in his class. This type of disrespect is only seen in suburban school films and would have serious repercussions if students in urban settings were to partake in such activities. The movie I chose for this assignment is The Terminal. 2 Three Organizational Communication Concepts: Organizational Cultural Elements: According to Keyton (n.d.), organizational culture is defined as the set of artifacts, values and assumptions that emerges from the interactions of organizational members (p. 550). Some examples of artifacts and values include, norms, customs, how members should behave, and assumptions are revealed when talking about your work experiences. The culture of an organization can be simply what it feels like to be there (Keyton, n.d.). Every culture is dynamic, always changing and guides the construction of reality in a social community. There are 7 elements of culture which include metaphors, rituals, stories, artifacts, heroes and heroines, performances and values (class notes, Oct. 25). Throughout most of the Norse tales, deities from the two tribes get along fairly easily, and it s hard to pin down firm distinctions between the two groups. But there was a time when that wasn t the case. The War of the Gods The Vanir goddess Freya was always the foremost practitioner of the art of seidr, a form of magic principally concerned with discerning and altering the course of destiny. Like historical seidr practitioners, she wandered from town to town plying her craft for hire. Under the name Heiðr ( Bright ), she eventually came to Asgard, the home of the Aesir. The Aesir were quite taken by her powers and zealously sought her services. But soon they realized that their values of honor, kin loyalty, and obedience to the law were being pushed aside by the selfish desires they sought to fulfill with the witch s magic. Blaming Freya for their own shortcomings, the Aesir called her Gullveig ( Gold greed ) and attempted to murder her. Three times they tried to burn her, and three times she was reborn from the ashes. Because of this, the Aesir and Vanir came to hate and fear one another, and these hostilities erupted into war. Achondroplasia Essay Achondroplasia (ACH) is the most common form of short limb dwarfism occuring in 1 in 15,000 to 28,000 births and appears to be slightly more prevalent in females, but indiscriminent toward race (1 3). Evidence has been found in Egypt for cases of ACH dating back as far as 4500 B.C. (4). In simplest terms, ACH is a disease where the dwarfing of bones formed in the cartilage occurs (5). There are many features that accompany this disease including rhizomelic (proximal) shortening of the extremities, megalencephaly (enlarged brain), short stature, trident hand, and frontal bossing (prominent forehead) (1, 3, 4, 6 8). Expression of this gene at high levels is primarily found in cells of the nervous system and the cartilage rudiments and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A point mutation is one where only one nucleotide is changed and a missense mutation is when the amino acid changes due to the base(s) mutated. FGFR3 consists of 19 exons, with the mutation occuring in exon 10 (1, 16). Furthermore, the mutated base is 1138, where the base can undergo two possible mutations. G(guanine)→A(adenine) transition accounts for 98% of all cases of ACH while the G→C(cytosine) transversion mutation occurs in 1% of cases (6). Both of these mutations result in the amino acid arginine being substituted for glycine at codon 380 which is in the transmembrane of FGFR3 (1, 4, 17) (See Figure 1). The FGFR3 mutation is a gain of function mutation due to the resulting activation of receptors, which is opposite the normal inhibitory effect the FGFR3 has on the receptors, which upon activation, negatively regulate bone growth (4, 6). Thus, FGFR3 has been found to become hyperactivated when mutated and undergo ligand independent dimerization (1, 11, 18). De novo mutations account for 80 90% of all cases of ACH (1, 4, 7, 8, 11). Recent research has determined that increased paternal age correlates to this specific mutation occuring (4, 7, 11, 19). The maternal age seems to have no effect, meaning that the de novo mutation occurs during spermatogenesis (20). This has also been studied and each affected individual was found to have received the mutated chromosome paternally (21). There has only been one documented case of an ... • 31. Holden s Loss Of Hope In Catcher In The Rye In the last two chapter of Catcher In the Rye, Holden s emotions and relation to hope is constantly changing. Hope is a strange thing in Holden s mind and in the book, for he often has a lack of hope causing him depression. He thinks there is nothing in the world for him, and that he is alone, concluding after much time to run away again. But in the end, he never runs away because of his rock. This rock, the thing that holds him in New York City, is his sister, Phoebe. She is the one who gives the hope in the book to Holden, whether through her innocent mind or her childish play. This hope is what makes Holden happy, causing him to try another school. Holden loses hope in the beginning of Chapter 25, causing him depression and despair, but it is because of his sister, Phoebe, that Holden becomes hopeful. After leaving Mr. Antolini s house because of Antolini s actions, Holden finds himself on the street with nowhere to go. He said, I can t sleep so hot if I have to keep my feet on the floor. So I sat up. I still had that head ace. It was even worse. And I think I was more depressed than I ever was in my whole life. Twain goes over the negative characteristics of man in comparison with animals. On the other hand, A Time of Gifts, by Stephen Gould portrays the good side of man. Gould focuses on the good characteristics of man and how these good characteristics shine through in times of trial. Both the good and bad sides of man have importance and each side can be easily argued for. Whether good outweighs the bad or bad outweighs the good is a controversial debate. In The Lowest Animal, Mark Twain s story declares that man is not the Top animal, but is in fact the animal of lowest descent. Twain points out how man is needlessly cruel, greedy, indecent, brutal, etc. Animals do not have the ability to decipher between right and wrong. They do only what they ... Man is good, but man is also bad. Good doesn t override the bad and bad doesn t override the good. You can not have light without darkness or darkness without light. It is the same with the good and bad sides of man. One can not exist without the other. The goodness of man should outweigh the bad but that is impossible. • 37. Advantages Of The Jury System The jury system of a trial is an essential element of the democratic process. Some people think that the American jury system is not a good thing because you are going off other peoples opinions, on the other hand people think it is a good thing because they say that is a fair way to make a decision in court. A jury group is a group of citizens which hears the testimony in legal disputes and determines what it believes is the truth. In court, we settle criminal law, and civil law cases with jury members to help. I personally think that the American jury system is still a good and helpful thing to use. One reason why I think the jury system is still a good thing to use during a court case is that, normal citizens get called to a trial, decide on a case, and try to persuade the judge about whether or not the defendant is guilty or innocent. Another good thing is that none of the reasoning is biased, which means all of the facts/reasoning the jury members are giving isn t opinionated. People that have observed jury systems say that it has remarked the ability to help ordinary citizens into self governors and get involved in civic participation. The trial by jury process puts the people in control. The people have ultimate control in the legislative and executive branches. (Doc C) In some cases, the jury system being what they use can be debatable. I think it is always what you should use to determine if the defendant is guilty or innocent during a trial. • 38. Poetry Is No I Don t Mean Putting A Couple Words Together... What is poetry? No I don t mean putting a couple words together that rhyme. Rhyme scheme is only a component of what poetry is. I got this question asked before beginning the unit of poetry. I said When I think about poetry I think of the flow of a river out into the ocean. The sounds and sight of this reminds me of poetry. The sounds that the river makes are relaxing and calm as they empty into a vast body of water. It s like the mind of a poet emptying onto a piece of paper or a keyboard. The sight of the river flowing also reminds me of poetry. Some poems seem so calm as they empty into the ocean, so serene. That is what poetry is to me. The flow of thoughts that create a piece of art that is called a poem. Just as the flow of a calm river that creates another piece of art, called an ocean. After having my own chance to write my own poem, and also having to recite another poet s poem, my perspective changed a bit on the whole concept of poetry. Now if someone were to ask me what poetry is and what it meant I would say poetry is a way to express ones self. Writing a poem is another way of showing whom you are and how you feel to people who don t know you, or people who don t know you well enough. It s also a way to relax and release some stress. Just like athletes go to the gym when they need to relieve some stress, writers grab their notebook and a pencil. Poetry is like picking out what clothes you want to wear in the morning. I reached into my bag and looked for my books making sure I had brought them. What else am I supposed to do on the plane? San Diego is going to be sweet! We re meeting the guys up at the beach after we get there, Johnson exclaimed and pumped his fist. I giggled at his personality and nodded. I ve always wanted to go to the beach. • 41. Impact Of The Scottish Independent Movement Impact of the Scottish Independent Movement The United Kingdom has always been an ardent opponent of constitutional reform. In fact the very fact that through nearly a millennia they have refused to produce their constitution in a formal written structure reiterates that sentiment. And although the undercurrent of maintaining certain traditional and cultural norms remains strong, the national government has on frequent occasion had to accept the often frequent and ill fated changes within the local government. Throughout history the lion s share of these local changes have revolved around the relationship between the formerly autonomous countries of Wales, Scotland, and Ireland. But a comprehensive analysis of these complicated relationships requires a much more lengthy background. As a result this paper will attempt to analyze the proposition of transfer of power in greater part to the local government of Scotland within the context of the last decades of the 20th century into the first decade of the 21st. A modern approach to the increasing separation of Scotland and England can been seen beginning with the Labour Party during the 1970 s. The indecision and hesitation with respect to reform was epitomized in the bold and determined proposal of the 1974 Labour government decentralization and transfer of power for Wales and Scotland. The policy was an ill fated one largely in part to the internal divisions of the Labour party during this epoch. Fortunately for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In other words, the avant garde is understood as a form of self consciousness of artistic field, with a very clear interest to break the art´s autonomy, while separate form of production, as a necessary condition to redirect the art into life. According to Peter Bürger, with the reintegration of art into praxis proposes a revolution in the life, which causes a revolution in the art. As Bürger states, the avant garde movements that sought to break with the bourgeois autonomy of art and thereby apply a strong self criticism to art institutionally were: the Russian Constructivism, closely linked with the Revolution of 1917; Dadaism and its negation of art as institution; and the Surrealism. Nonetheless, after the World War II in the middle of the 20th century, the avant garde schism became a crisis, failing in its quest to eliminate the division between art and life and its critical self consciousness about this, which meant its co option by the art institution, ...
