Gender Stereotypes In Snow White
When a baby is born they are given a color. Not the color of their skin, but a color for their gender.
Pink is for girls and blue is for boys. Women are chosen with pink colors because the advertisers want
to show women as being delicate and fragile. Men can have different colors of red, blue, green,
yellow, and purple, but not pink. Pink is shown as being fragile and feminine and not strong and
masculine. When you look into the different sections in a store you see that the girls have unicorns,
candy, princesses, dolls, and tiaras and that the boys section have trucks, cars, tools, and mud. Gender
stereotypes make a border for people not to express themselves to the fullest and their emotions. As a
young child seeing this type of stereotyping can put a negative impact on them. For example, in
children s books the good people are always princesses and are beautiful gets rescued by the prince
who often is handsome. The bad people are portrayed as witches, evil stepmothers and daughter and
trolls and unattractive. This sets up an idea that if you re not attractive than you must be a bad person.
This is a wrong idea to project on young children s minds. Another example is that in the 30 s, Disney
released a movie called Snow White. The average women in the 30 s was a size 8, but in Snow White
she was a double 00.(JagJammer21, YouTube) A lot of children and adolescents in America watch
television so much in their lifetime, that can mimic in their minds that what they see

Love Poetry By Edna St. Vincent Millay
Courtly Love Poetry
Whenever modern poetry is mentioned, there is an overwhelming consensus that it involves an
onslaught of free verse with irregular structure Modern poetry was seen as not rhyming, even when it
did rhyme; as obscure and difficult, even when it was at its most lucid and limpid (Schmidt, 3). There
is also a stereotype that traditional forms of poetry that were popular in the past were abandoned.
However, when looking at examples of modern poetry, it becomes clear that this is not the case.
Whilst it is true that many modern poets have embraced the free verse form of poetry, others have
adopted classical poem forms. Tweaking them slightly so that can adapt to the modern world. Thus
reviving these forms and making them more fresh and relevant. American poet Edna St. Vincent
Millay can be seen to fit into this category. She is particularly well known for her sonnets. This essay
will analyse one of Millay s sonnets in to context of the evolution of courtly love poetry. The history
of the sonnet will also be examined to demonstrate how Millay has faithfully refashioned her poems.
However, whist Millay has kept the construction of sonnet pure she has differed in the message it
portrays. Hence this essay will also deconstruct Millay s poem and discuss how its tone differs from
traditional courtly love poetry.
According to Burt and Mikics (6) the origins of the sonnet can be traced back to France and the courts
of Sicily in the thirteenth century. It is

respirations. Weakness and pain of lower extremities triggered by muscle cramps due to decreased
potassium. Flaccid muscles along with hyporeflexia of the deep tendon reflex has been noted.
Decreased potassium in the brain alters mental status, contributing to irritability or anxiety. Prolonged
hypokalemia can result in confusion or coma. Without potassium, repolarization of action potentials is
behind creating irregular heartbeats called dysrhythmias. Pulse rates are high but thread and weak

Target Behavior Change Project
Target Behavior:
I am completing this behavior change project on myself. I had to think long and hard about what habit
I would like to change. I must say, at first, I actually did not have a personal problem with this
behavior I chose to modify. After carefully examining my bank and credit card statements in
November, I had noticed that I was spending hundreds of dollars per month on takeout.
The targeting behavior that I will be creating an intervention for is eat lunch from home and not order
anything takeout. This behavior must be modifies because there seem to be no reason for me to order
out when I usually bring my lunch from home. The issue is that I never eat what I bring in for lunch.

made me extremely happy because my bank account transaction for the week were not filled with
food transactions. Both charts allowed me to check my frequency and also provided explanation of

Influence Of Leonardo Da Vinci On Modern Art
Introduction
Leonardo da Vinci is one of the most well known and acknowledged historical figure of all times. His
genius excelled in arts, mathematics, engineering, science, philosophy and many other fields.
I have chosen the topic How did Leonardo da Vinci influence modern artists? for several reasons. First
and foremost reason is that I am fascinated by the enigma of a man we know as Leonardo da Vinci.
The mysterious workings of his brain and the works he created as a result of numerous hours of
analyzing the surrounding world amaze me. Secondly, as a contemporary artist myself, who was
greatly inspired by da Vinci s craft, I wondered if nowadays there are people who share my passion
and admiration for the man to a great extent. Lastly, I always knew that Leonardo da Vinci had had a
great impact on the modern world, but it interested me to find out to what extent exactly had he
influenced the world of modern art and if artists ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many historians and art critics came to a conclusion that his works have had a tremendous impact not
only on the style of art, but also n the direction in which it has developed. By studying Da Vinci s art,
artists learn versatility and open up to a new perception on traditional techniques. Leonardo da Vinci is
a remarkable representative of the Renaissance period and, just like any other artist of his time, his
works mainly featured religious themes.
His artworks have a distinctive impact on the viewer, which makes them distinguishable among any
other artwork of the time. His paintings had had a strong influence on the artists of the future.
While some may deem Leonardo da Vinci paintings tame in their total effect on our society s modern
sensibilities, his development of techniques that immersed the viewer in the world of the painting, and
the impact of those techniques cannot be understated. 1

Ohio. No trees? I said this is where we are going to live? (Creech 2). Sal realizes that Euclid has
nothing fun. Where is the barn? I asked. The river? the swimming hole? (Creech 2). Sal wishes that all

7 Prayers Of Jesus Research Paper
What do you learn by reading several of the twenty seven prayers of Jesus?
There is a lot to be learned when reading Jesus prayers. It s also worthy to note as a reader I don t just
look at the verse that was the prayer, bur also look before and after. I find reading the context the
prayer was developed around is very important. I will start off my reviewing several prayers I have
chosen from the list and give you what I learned and in the end summarize my thoughts.
Starting with Hebrews 2:12, Jesus prays to the Lord and states that he will proclaim his name to the
community. He states, in the midst of congregation I will praise you . That line really stands out to me
and makes me think, why does Jesus the Son of God pray to himself? ... Show more content on

There are many different genres in the Bible. More so there are tons of prayer going in the Bible that
fit into different genres. Looking at different literary literary devices that encompasses genre we can
begin to see how prayer really is a genre and what distinguishes it as such.
Jesus tells us how to pray. [Matthew 6:9 13] This is an example of technique which fits into what
makes prayer a genre. Jesus was showing how prayer should be done specifically. There is also
different historical time frames in regards to prayer. Looking at how Abraham prayed in Genesis 18 to
how Jonah prayed in Jonah 2 you can see a major difference in the times.
Looking at Jonah 2, you can see that Jonah s prayer to God is a Psalm. Jonah uses metaphors
throughout this prayer. Going back to Abraham s prayer he is speaking with no metaphors or
figurative language to God. This is very important because the differences is what makes prayer have
different genres.
Different tones in prayer are heard as well, from when Jesus was begging God to not to kill him on the
cross [Matthew 26:39] to Jesus in a much joyful tone as he rejoices. [Luke 10:21] Not only tone sets a
genre but so does the content of the prayer which changes from character to character in the Bible.
These are just a few examples of what distinguishes prayer as a

Electron Distribution Using Peas Lab
The labs I chose were Electron Distribution using Peas, Mendeleev for a Day, and Flame Tests. I
chose these labs because they helped me realize how electrons work and why the periodic table is set
up the way it is. It also helped me see how electrons work in the atoms of the periodic table. The
Electron Distribution using Peas lab helped me understand how the electrons are placed in levels
based on their energy. For this lab, we had to make a target and put peas into a funnel. After that, we
let the peas go and saw what happened. The peas represented the electrons and the parts of the target
were the different energy levels of an atom. The levels allow the electrons to keep moving up once
they are full. After this is known, then we can put that information into an electron configuration.
There is not an exact path as to where the electrons are supposed to go, so where the peas landed
showed us the different regions of high and low density. Also in this lab, the quantum mechanical
model shows that there is not a set spot as to how the electrons are going to go. ... Show more content

Mendeleev knew that there would be elements that would fill the entire table, but they were not yet
discovered, so he left their spots blank. He organized the table by their increasing atomic mass. In this
lab, our job was to mix unknown solutions with known solutions and record what happened once they
were mixed. Once we completed our objectives for the lab, we were to group the solutions with
similar characteristics like Mendeleev did when he was organizing his table. Unlike Mendeleev, we
did not group ours with atomic mass. The periodic table tells us what the atomic mass of an atom is.
The periodic table is shaped the way it is because of its properties of the elements. Mendeleev
predicted what the properties were, whereas, we saw the changes and grouped by that. (What is the

Emerging Adulthood Theory Paper
This article was on a study that compared developmental trajectories of non students, versus college
educated young adults, on the aspects of Arnett s theory of emerging adulthood (Mitchell Syed, 2015).
However, there is a large group that literature has not been explored, and that category is on the young
teen/adults who choose to not attend college, or are unable to because of socio economic status
(Mitchell Syed, 2015). The emerging adulthood theory has been controversial. The controversial topic
has been brought up by researchers questioning how non students may not experience the
development of other emerging adults based on their interests to pursue adulthood without attending
postsecondary education. The aim of the study was intended to compare emerging adulthood among
individuals with college degrees, some college, and no college (Mitchell Syed, 2015). Arnett s
development tasks for emerging adulthood include: finding a reliable and satisfying career, choosing a
partner and starting a family, and establishing financial independence (Mitchell Syed, 2015). The
study concluded that the young adults who attended college experienced continuous growth of income
in their twenties, while non students wages leveled out in their twenties and did not rise (Mitchell

Hitler, the deranged psychopath who is responsible for the death of over nine million innocent people.
He was the person who started the deadliest war in history which led to millions of fatalities. Hitler
was a part of the NAZI party. They party promoted German nationalism and anti semitism. Even
though he had committed all these evil acts, he still influenced people to come up with some good
changes in society. On Easter Sunday, April 20, 1889, Hitler arrived at 6:30 in the evening ( What Is

family. He was always grumpy and had a terrible temper. He often took out his anger on his children.
Hitler s mother Klara was the complete opposite of Alois. Even though she dealt with an aggressive
and dominating husband, she was still very kind and caring towards her children . Adolf had five
siblings, but only one lived past their childhood ( What Is Known About Adolf Hitler s Childhood?).
His brother Gustav died at the age of two years old in 1887. His second brother Otto died before
reaching the age of one year old in 1887. His third brother Edmund died at the age of six years old in
1900. His first sister Ida died at the age of two years old in 1888. He did however have one sibling
who lived past their childhood. Her name was Paula Hitler, and she lived from 1896 to 1960, dieing at
the age of 64. Paula actually outlived Hitler by fifteen years. On January 3, 1903, when Hitler was
only fourteen, his father Alois died. On December 21, 1907, hitler s mother Klara died. Adolf Hitler s

Inductive Learning Or Category Learning
People learn new information through the induction of categories, allowing for the recognition that
different stimuli are the same in a given way. Inductive learning involves recognition and
understanding of the similarities and differences among and between stimuli. To learn a new category
of information, exemplars belonging to a given category are conceptualized and grouped as belonging
to that category. Such learning is fundamental in human cognition, enabling persons to categorize
novel exemplars as instances of a given category or concept (Birnbaum, 2013). In a typical study
conducted on the topic of inductive learning or category learning, students are presented with a set of
exemplars belonging to a particular category and are subsequently asked to identify and induce a
general concept pertaining to the given set of observed exemplars (Zulkiply, McLean, Burt, Bath,
2012). Such exemplars may include nonsense syllables, words, sentences, pictures and faces
(Ebbinghaus, 1985/1913; Glenberg Lehmann, 1980; Rothkopf Coke, 1966; Hintzman Rogers, 1973;
Cornell, 1980). Research on inductive learning shows that participants learn category similarities and
category differences from the way in which study stimuli are presented to those participants.
In earlier studies on inductive learning, researchers examined the benefits of category learning for
education. Researchers focused on how to maximize participants performance in category learning
related tasks. In two such

the performance. In these 3 tableaux s we made a character who was an embodiment of death. We
loved this as an idea and continued to devise around this theme until we had the skeleton of a
performance.
Like frantic assembly we wish to make thrilling, energetic and unforgettable theatre like that we have
seen in their performances of Beautiful Burnout, Othello and Blackwatch. These Frantic shows have
been a big inspiration to us in many ways. When we saw Beautiful burnout live we were in awe of the
pace, energy that flowed through the performance. We were also given the idea of having a mentor

we act as soldiers from the grandfathers past. It also showed us how people act in the proximity of
death.
As an ensemble our dramatic intentions are to shock and excite the audience with a mixture of
impressive and dynamic physical sequences. We also intend to move the audience and make them
reconsider their life. We intend to do this by writing deep and meaningful words at emotional
moments of the play but also by doing slower, more heartfelt sequences to draw the audience.

J. K. Rowling?s Portrayal of Magical Creatures in the Harry Potter Series as Compared to Creatures in
Ancient Mythology The world famous book series, Harry Potter, has been an instant success
worldwide. This series follows the life of a young boy, Harry Potter, in chronological order from the
beginning to the end of his schooling. Harry Potter is schooled at a magical school somewhere in
England, which is where the majority of the books take place. He is an adventurous boy who
experiences many different quests and journeys with his loyal friends. This book series focuses mainly
on the many magical creatures from many different types of mythology, some even including stories
with Indian, Greek, or Roman backgrounds. J. K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter series,
incorporates these magical animals into the stories? plots and help to convey several messages about
Harry Potter. The mythical creatures that are the most prominent in Rowling?s series are the dragons
and werewolves. The dragon and werewolf both have origins found in mythology and are crucial to
Rowling?s themes in the books Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and Harry Potter and the Prisoner

The Natural Process Of The Water Cycle
Our water is held through various reservoirs on earth, such as oceans, lakes, rivers, etc. and has the
ability to recycle itself. The natural process of the water cycle is also known as the hydrologic cycle,
which is the transference of water and how it shifts from earth into the atmosphere and back. When
the sun heats the surfaces that maintain water, such as the oceans and plant life; it creates condensation
and this forms vapor in the air. This moisture filled air, then rises and forms clouds. The mix between
the water filled clouds and cooler air then forms the rain, ultimately recycling water back to earth.
Carbon is an element that is present in both living and nonliving things. The carbon cycle is the
movement of the carbon between sources such as plants, animals, rocks and water. This movement
occurs when carbon is released into the atmosphere and is stored in those things, living and nonliving.
The recycling process begins when these shifts occur.
Nitrogen is a nutrient found in all living things on earth. It can be in the form of a gas or found in our
soil and water sources. Like nitrogen, phosphorus serves as nourishment found in soil and our water
systems and any residue that may occur from these sources. Both Nitrogen and phosphorus are
reintroduced into the ecosystem through decomposition and transfers back into the earth.
Biodiversity is the disturbance of the environment and this causes an imbalance in the ecosystem.

Mr Davis 12 Angry Men
Mr. Davis: The Light of the Dark and Hostel Room Temptations ruin core values. In times where
focus and work is needed, minds of people tend to wander to bigger and better needs. In the movie
Twelve Angry Men, most of the jurors have a teenage boy s life in their hands, yet most have better
things they could be doing. Some even have personal distractions taking them away from the duty
they are set out to do. The men should be poised and ready to give the right sentence, but instead those
temptations and distractions lead them to a longer process than expected. Their values are challenged
as one man stands up to the other eleven because his temptations do not blind him from his core

that every life has value. It s only one night, a boy may die, Stated Mr. Davis as some of the more hard

accuse some of the lawyers of just being plain stupid. Mr. Davis knew that this boy s life was on the
line, furthermore he knew that this boy s life was not going to be decided in the first five minutes of
the time the jurors had to reach a verdict. Standing so strongly by his beliefs, he even dug into the
personal lives of some of the other jurors he was fighting against. He has to agitate, pick and pull at
their thoughts, hearts, and feelings to finally convince all of the eleven other men to side with him. It

from the question of what our actual intentions are (Roth 197).He has doubt in his mind holding him
back from voting guilty that first vote they took as they entered the back room. Honestly, without the
over powering, intelligent, stubborn presence of Mr. Davis, the boy s life would have been over. Mr.

managed to put someone else s life before his own. An example of his sympathy to this boy s life was

Child Care Framework
A perfect situation for the social, passionate, and formative development of small children and
adolescents does not generally exist in today s public. Families with multiple problems concerning
abuse or the common welfare of a child mainly contribute to this field. The welfare system is setup to
deal with minors until they have reached the age of eighteen. Being taken from your home can be a
very traumatic and strenuous process, which can lead to the exposure of physical debasement and
psychological impairment. Prior to a minor being removed from a family, every case must be
displayed under the steady gaze of a judge, and that judge must concur that the state is inside its
lawful rights to evacuate the child. Every child needs to be treasured, protected and nurtured.
Unfortunately, some parents can t or won t care for their children. When they neglect or abuse them,
someone must step in to ensure the children s safety. That s the job of DFCS, along with the police and
the courts. Child Abuse Neglect. Division of Family and Children Services. N.p., n.d. Web. 07 Sept.

Problems Associated With Educational Video Games Into...
In order for the United States to increase their worldwide K 12 educational efficiency ranking and
avoid improper usage of such technological resources, school districts must perform a slow
implementation of technological devices and their associated educational video games into their K 12
curriculum. Many of the problems associated with the LAUSD iPad Initiative could have been
avoided if the school district tested the use of iPads on a few selected schools as oppose to
immediately implementing the devices into every school in the district. Through the slow integration
solution, faculty and program designers could have modified the problems associated with the devices
and discover what areas the devices prove to be most useful. Once the problems have been resolved,
the program could have been expanded to other schools deemed ready for the rollout of the iPads or
other device if the iPad was deemed insufficient. Also, slow integration would be more cost effective
as the program would not require 1.3 billion dollars as a starter cost for the program. However, many
critics would point out that a process of slow integration would take a large amount of time and
resources before any proof of educational increases within individual school districts, barring the
question: how do educators implement these technological resources into their K 12 curriculum. To
combat these critics, Min Liu, professor and program area coordinator in subjects pertaining to

Regardless of whether individuals take up the alternatives they have, the fact that they do have
valuable options is significant. For instance, regardless of the possibility that the dietary condition of
individuals who are fasting and starving is the same, the way that fasting is a choice ought to be
perceived. In this manner assessment must be sensitive to both genuine accomplishments and
successful opportunity.
4. Evaluation of how well people are doing must seek to be as open minded as possible. Each
individual s reality is different and complicated and any evaluation should portray this complexity into
consideration. This leads to the deliberate under theorization of the Capability Approach that has been
the source of some criticism.
A critical part of Sen s argument for the Capability Approach identifies with his critique of alternative
philosophical and economics accounts. Specifically, he argues that, whatever their specific qualities,
none of them give an examination of prosperity that is suitable as a general idea; they are all centered
on the wrong specific things (whether utility, freedom or essential merchandise). Sen s reactions of
economic utilitarianism and John Rawls primary goods are especially vital in the development of his

The Death Of A Patient Die
Whenever a situation poses the threat of a patient dying, there seems to be a sense of obligation at
times that may drive physicians to do whatever it takes to try and save the patient. In some cases that
could be the deciding factor in whether a person can get better or will die in the process. However,
there are always situations that no one really wants to face that involve the terminally ill who have
extremely low to no chance of recovery. Though a certain treatment will keep the patient alive, it can
be seen as only prolonging the inevitable. Between the possible legality and stigma of having a patient
die, be it any reason, the thought of just letting someone die or participating in a process that will
hasten their death frightens ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some people fear death while others only fear the uncertainty that leads up to it. To some, the process
of prolonging the inevitable with an increasingly painful process can seem much more cruel and
immoral that just allowing them to die on their own terms. Another prominent reason for the
implication of a social policy for physician assistance in dying is to help to create a little less
uncertainty when it comes to which situations, where death is involved, are okay. If no states had any
policy on physician assistance in dying there would still be cases where the only thing left that can be
done is to let the patient move on and die. Cases like these could be a withdrawing of treatment,
abstaining from a treatment, or perhaps even a more direct method (within legal means). Situations
like these could allow for a slippery slope argument on what can and will be accepted in end of life
cases. If a social policy were to be put into place, it might help to define what type of instances it is
relatively okay to allow death. However, there will always be a slippery slope argument of how if one
example is allowed than why not another. A policy would hopefully lessen the slope, but would in no
means make it completely disappear. One the other hand, one of the most prominent reasons for not
adopting a

Sexism In The Joy Luck Club
Throughout history men have been considered superior to women and sexism has always been a large
part of many societies. The divide between women and men drives Amy Tan s The Joy Luck Club.
Through a sense of patriarchy, responsibility, and needing to prove oneself worthy, the female
characters in The Joy Luck Club find their experiences to be very different from that of their male
counterparts, demonstrating the despotic sexism of the Chinese culture during the 1940s.
As a patriarchal society, China favored the men over the women, particularly in marriage. At Lindo s
wedding, her husband, Tyan, yanked the scarf off [her] face and smiled at his friends and family, never
even looking at [her] (59), illustrating the clear male hierarchy. The woman doesn t even matter. All
that matters is the husband s success in life and a not becoming a widower. Not only is the woman
subordinate in marriage, but women are also subject to becoming concubines not for love, but because
of the prestige of owning what so many other men wanted (234), showing not only a lack of love and
passion in marriage but also a regard for women as property and a way to sexually pleasure oneself.
There is a complete lack of regard for women and their thoughts, feelings, and opinions. Often the

Synthesis and Analysis of Iron(III) Oxalate Complex Discussion
This experiment initially involved the synthesis of an iron (III) oxalate complex with the general
formula Kw[Fex(C2O4)y] zH2O. The variables x, y, and z were determined
through the duration of the entire experiment. Part 1 involves the synthesis of an iron (III) oxalate
complex. The iron is first presented in its Fe2+ form, so it must first be oxidized to
Fe3+ before the oxalate ion will readily bind to it. Hydrogen peroxide is the oxidant of choice: 2Fe2+
(aq) + H2O2 (l) + 2H+ (aq) 2Fe3+ (aq) + 2H2O (l), in acidic solution.
The oxalate ion is then free to coordinate to the Fe3+ ion, forming a ... Show more content on

Part 2 of this experiment invoked the use of redox
titrating to determine the oxalate content (C2O42 ) of the salt. An aqueous solution of the iron oxalate
salt is prepared for titration, and the oxalate content is found through analysis
by measuring the volume of titrant.
Part 3 of the experiment utilized Spectrophotometry to determine the iron content in the iron (III)
oxalate complex. The results were combined with findings from Part 1 and
Part 2 to determine the empirical formula and percentage yield of the compound synthesized in Part 1.
Spectrophotometry is a routine laboratory test that has the added advantage
of being able to analyze multiple samples in a short amount of time. The most efficient way of
determining concentration is to prepare a set of standard solutions of known
concentration, record the absorbance readings at a fixed wavelength, and plot the absorbance vs.
concentration data. The wavelength of 520 nm was selected for experiment Part
3 because this is the maximum absorbance for the iron (III) ion. The Beer s Law Plot that was graphed
came out to be linear with an equation of:
Absorbance = 5.395 x 10^3(Fe^+2 Bipy) 0.0014.
The empirical formula that was determined was different from that of the true compound mentioned.
The empirical formula determined was:
K3[Fe(C2O4^ 2)3] 3 H2O
If had there been a better alternate method to determining the iron

Democracy And The United States Government
The United States Government is defined in many different ways. The most common that we hear are
the forms of democracy and republic. Although very similar, these are very loose terms when it comes
to categorizing our government. The respect for human rights and involvement of the nation s people
have been a main priority in the running of the government since the beginning. Unfortunately, over
time, we are seeing our freedoms and individual participation in the governments decisions slowly
declining in many aspects. This makes us question the government and our ultimates rights as citizens
that we currently have. The support we have for democracy is our support towards religious freedom,
worker rights, and also helps create a more stable and affluent system that manages our nation s
control and gives us the ability to have a bigger voices around the world.
In general, a democracy is a form of government that gives power to the people. There are various
forms that specify the amount of power and to whom it is admitted. A direct democracy is a form of
government in which the people decide policy matters directly (Mott 1), for example voting on ballot
referendums or attending town hall meetings. The people make the policies and complete decisions
based on majority rule. The nation s vast geography makes a direst democracy difficult. This term
often gets confused with a representative democracy, which is the United States form of government.
A representative democracy is

So in such a scenario, is it just the print media that is dying? Is it not TV and radio too? Although, it is
the print media which seems endangered, it is a fact that the success of any media tells upon another
media. It is only a tug of war going among these, where the centre gets oscillated between the ends.
Each has been devising ways to deal with the plus points of the other. TV is getting interactive, radio
is getting gripping, newspapers and books are trying to get more attractive with the incorporation of
visuals and graphics and interactivity to some extent, and all of them together are going online.
Adaptability is crucial for existence. The bottom line is if the print media continues to adapt to the
changing media habits of people and corner its target readers well, it will survive. And it ought to do
that for its good. Somehow, there is a feeling that even if it fails in that, the power of the written word
will always be supreme. So while traditional media s old channels print and broadcast are floundering,
their online properties are thriving. In fact, I d argue that the influence of traditional media outlets like
theNew York Times and CNN are greater than ever. The internet and social networking sites have
given traditional media outlets an audience beyond their once limited geographies. For example, take
the Boston Globe.

In this unique book, economist Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner, an award winning author and

economics. Economics is above all a science of measurement. It comprises an extraordinarily
powerful and flexible set of tools that can reliably assess a thicket of information to determine the
effect of any one factor, or even the whole effect. That s what the economy is, after all: a thicket of
information about jobs and real estate and banking and investment. But the tools of economics can be
just as easily applied to subjects that are more well, more interesting. (Dubner, Levitt 11). That is
exactly what this book is all about, not just the value of money but the way resources are managed and
how different factors affect one another. In Freakonomics, Levitt and Dubner collaborate to explore
the hidden side of everything (Dubner, Levitt 1). Through this writing, the two men evaluate everyday

Analysis Of Antipersonality Disorder And Psychopathy
ANALYSIS OF ANTIPERSONALITY DISORDER AND PSYCHOPATHY
Psychopathy is a common term used to describe a grouping of personality traits that include such
things as impulsive behavior, lack of regard for others, lack of a normal range of emotional
responsiveness and frequent deception or manipulation of others (Elements Behavioral Health).
Antisocial Personality Disorder and psychopathy are used interchangeably to describe the
psychological and personality disorder that causes one to disregard human life. While the American
Psychiatric Association uses the terms interchangeably, many believe these two disorders to be similar,
yet separate disorders. Many people do agree however that most psychopaths are afflicted with
antisocial personality disorder. One major concept to know is that most psychopaths are antisocial
personalities, but not all antisocial personalities are psychopaths (much like how a square is a
rectangle but a rectangle is not square). For the sake of avoiding confusion, the following research will
focus on the aspect that most psychopaths are antisocial personalities in order to examine characters
from the blockbuster hit, Silence of the Lambs.

Jonestown Conspiracy Research Paper
The Jonestown Conspiracy Over 900 People were killed on November 18th 1978, The Peoples temple
was a Cult that moved to Guyana shortly after being Located in the United States. Shortly after
moving more than 900 people drank Kool Aid laced with Cyanide and died. This is Regarded as one
of the worst Tragedies in american History Before 9/11 But what really happened? Was it truly just
because of Money? Or was the Government involved?
Although what Happened in 1978 at Jonestown may be a Mystery there are still a few things
Historians agree on. When the United States began questioning the Motives and actions of the Peoples

The theory also goes that the United states Government had no involvement and that the Reason he

main Lure of being a Religious leader at the time was the money. In fact after Jones death he left
Millions of dollars and many argue if he had taken advantage of his Group (The Peoples Temple). To
add to the theory, Jones mostly integrated African Americans into his Congregation (Mass Suicide at
Jonestown 2). Which at the time Many Blacks did not have a Church to take them in so Jones would
have had some easy followers to add to his Group which meant more money. The likeliness of this

Essay On Integrating Women Into The World Economy
Integrating Women into the World Economy
Introduction
On November 9, 1989, the world s economy changed dramatically. The fall of the Berlin wall
produced a new world order which enabled states to connect on political, economic, and social levels
with nations that were previously inaccessible to the western world. This created an interaction across
national boundaries. The past two decades have seen the growing economic interdependence of
countries worldwide, including an increased volume of cross border transactions of goods and
services, international capital flows, and most importantly, the rapid and widespread diffusion of
technology ( Economic and Social Survey of Asia and the Pacific, 1999 ). The airplane hijackings in

an annual basis. The issue of globalization and development is one of many agenda topics, however,
and gender development is all encompassing, as it includes sectors at the regional and local levels.
One of the most groundbreaking developments on the topic, the special session entitled Women 2000:

would bring out all the science laboratory materials. Hearing my teacher exclaim to all the curious
minded students, today we are conducted a science experiment would make me feel extremely
content. I ve always had a passion for science, I have big goals and aspirations towards becoming
successful in that field. After what seemed to be an incredibly long day for me at age eight, I would
plop myself down on the dinner table chair to eat a lovely meal that my mother cooked up. I ... Show

Graduating from college will be one of the biggest accomplishments of my life, I would set a
milestone not only in my personal life but to my younger family members. I will feel remarkably
prideful for myself when I accomplish this because I know following my dreams and slowly
amounting to success was certainly possible. To attain these goals, scholarships and financial aid will
save me by a landslide. For my senior year, I decided to attend Valencia College through the Dual
Enrollment program which allowed me to get a head start in college by taking free courses and
receiving free book access. Dual Enrollment will ultimately be one of the best decisions I have made
as I am getting ahead and am getting closer to finishing my Associate s degree. By finishing my
Associate s at Valencia I will not only be saving myself money, I will be utilizing excellent Valencia
resources that will push me through my rigorous mathematical and science classes while still being
close to home and having my family s support. After Valencia, my plan is to transfer to University of
Central Florida through the direct connect program and pursue my degree there. I am currently unsure

Cyrus Clinder Thesis
Core Concept Essay One The Cyrus Cylinder, the Mandate of Heaven and the Ashurbanipal document
are ancient texts written by or on behalf of leaders of civilizations who came to power through
different means. These civilizations shared similar aspects, although differing in some ways.
Differences in the style of leadership highlight important cultural variations, which likely contributed
to either the success or failure of each empire. The Cyrus Cylinder talks mainly about how Cyrus
conquers the old city of Babylon (Cyrus). This document varies from the others because it talks about
how Marduk utilized evil and how he tormented the people. He eventually learned how to lessen his
anger, and decided to create peace. He decided to do this by finding a new king, Cyrus, to create a
more stable civilization. It was likely written to demonstrate the effectiveness of Cyrus style of ruling
as well as to establish what the basic human rights are (or should be). Also, it showed that putting
Cyrus in charge allowed the people to become full of life again. This shows that Cyrus wanted to
please others. As well as the fact that many other kings from different civilizations came to worship
Cyrus. Happily, they greeted him as a master through whose help ... Show more content on

The Mandate of Heaven focuses on tranquility. The idea to rule a civilization/dynasty was based on
the fairness and moral rights. The purpose of the spread of this document was to show that this
document was an invention of the Zhou to justify their overthrow of the Shang (Yi Yan). Leadership in
this dynasty was based on who could take charge; the document at the time was used for the
overthrowing of unfair

Emily Dickinson s Feelings About Death Revealed in Her...
Emily Dickinson s Feelings About Death Revealed in Her Poem, Because I could not stop for Death
Emily Dickinson grew up in New England in the late 1800s. The nineteenth century was a difficult
time period for the people of America. There was an abundance of war, epidemic, and death. Because
her house was located beside a graveyard, Dickinson saw many of the elaborate funeral processions as
they passed (Murray). Because of these experiences, death became very real to her, and it made a large
impression on her life. Conrad Aikin, one of the many critics of Dickinson s work, believes that:
Death and the problem of life after death obsessed her (15). She had a very peculiar idea about eternity
that was unlike any of the traditional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Personification is a type of figurative language one uses to give abstract ideas human like
characteristics. Dickinson uses personification in this poem because it allows the reader to understand
death in a more intimate way. Death became so real to her and to her contemporaries because of the
time in which she lived. Through her life experiences, the poet became intimate with death. Because
of all the disease and epidemics in her lifetime, many of her loved ones passed away. These deaths
were very intense breaks in her life (Murray). Some critics suggest that the death of her cousin was the
inspiration for this poem (Semansky). In any event, death had a large impact on Dickinson s life. This
impact explains why she writes so descriptively about it. In this poem, death is personified as a
gentleman caller taking the lady out for a carriage ride. This personification gives the reader a better
image of the writer s idea of the coming of death.
Dickinson gives Death many characteristics that help to shape our image of him. The line He kindly
stopped for me in the first stanza, immediately gives a male gender (2). This male image gives the
reader the traditional idea of the gentleman caller. This line also reveals a kind quality of death. The
kind quality is important throughout this poem because it allows the speaker to

Mommy, look at me hopping on one leg! When your 4 year old pre schooler proudly shows you her

 She can count up to 10 objects and may recognize numbers up to 20.
 She recognizes at least three shapes and four five colors.

My Girl Ap Psych Paper
Natalie Smith AP Psychology March 6, 2012 The Five Stages of Grief: My Girl Elisabeth Kübler Ross
amp; David Kessler came up with the five stages of grief, which are denial, anger, bargaining,
depression and acceptance. Although grief is individual depending on the person and the situation,
these stages help organize the process of grieving. The stages act more as tools than a timeline. The
movie My Girl portrays these stages after the death of Thomas J., Vada s best and only friend. Denial
is the first stage. In denial one feels numb and emotionless; the world becomes pointless. One feels
overwhelmed and pushed to the limit. The initial reaction to the news is shock. Vada demonstrates
denial by isolating herself in her room for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The United States And Saudi Arabia
It s a particularly noteworthy development when oil prices are down by 50%. During the past decade,
the price of oil has traveled from $60 per barrel to its peak of $146 during 2009, then in 2015 it fell
into a steep decline again to below $50. Since oil is sold in a global market, the increase or decrease of
its price has a tremendous impact on all economies throughout the world. This research goes in depth
on how the shift in oil prices has affected Saudi Arabia and the US s economies, the world s biggest
oil producers. The issue will be broken down to three components; a brief summary of the laws and
regulations that possibly affected the change in oil prices, how it is currently affecting the US and
Saudi Arabia s economies, and their quest for alternative solutions. The purpose of this research is to
analyze how both the United States and Saudi Arabia have been affected and what progressive
measures they are willing to take in response to the steep decline of oil prices.
Origin of recent decline in oil prices Aside from the 2008 crisis, prices of oil have never been cut in
half in a matter of months since 1900 until just recently in 2014. What might ve caused this steep
decrease in prices? Well, it appears as though the surge in US oil production had a primary role in
breaking the market. Meanwhile, demand had remained fairly stagnant. Extensive federal intervention
into the United States oil and gas markets began back in 1930s and continued well through the

  • 2. Gender Stereotypes In Snow White When a baby is born they are given a color. Not the color of their skin, but a color for their gender. Pink is for girls and blue is for boys. Women are chosen with pink colors because the advertisers want to show women as being delicate and fragile. Men can have different colors of red, blue, green, yellow, and purple, but not pink. Pink is shown as being fragile and feminine and not strong and masculine. When you look into the different sections in a store you see that the girls have unicorns, candy, princesses, dolls, and tiaras and that the boys section have trucks, cars, tools, and mud. Gender stereotypes make a border for people not to express themselves to the fullest and their emotions. As a young child seeing this type of stereotyping can put a negative impact on them. For example, in children s books the good people are always princesses and are beautiful gets rescued by the prince who often is handsome. The bad people are portrayed as witches, evil stepmothers and daughter and trolls and unattractive. This sets up an idea that if you re not attractive than you must be a bad person. This is a wrong idea to project on young children s minds. Another example is that in the 30 s, Disney released a movie called Snow White. The average women in the 30 s was a size 8, but in Snow White she was a double 00.(JagJammer21, YouTube) A lot of children and adolescents in America watch television so much in their lifetime, that can mimic in their minds that what they see ... • 3. Love Poetry By Edna St. Vincent Millay Courtly Love Poetry Whenever modern poetry is mentioned, there is an overwhelming consensus that it involves an onslaught of free verse with irregular structure Modern poetry was seen as not rhyming, even when it did rhyme; as obscure and difficult, even when it was at its most lucid and limpid (Schmidt, 3). There is also a stereotype that traditional forms of poetry that were popular in the past were abandoned. However, when looking at examples of modern poetry, it becomes clear that this is not the case. Whilst it is true that many modern poets have embraced the free verse form of poetry, others have adopted classical poem forms. Tweaking them slightly so that can adapt to the modern world. Thus reviving these forms and making them more fresh and relevant. American poet Edna St. Vincent Millay can be seen to fit into this category. She is particularly well known for her sonnets. This essay will analyse one of Millay s sonnets in to context of the evolution of courtly love poetry. The history of the sonnet will also be examined to demonstrate how Millay has faithfully refashioned her poems. However, whist Millay has kept the construction of sonnet pure she has differed in the message it portrays. Hence this essay will also deconstruct Millay s poem and discuss how its tone differs from traditional courtly love poetry. According to Burt and Mikics (6) the origins of the sonnet can be traced back to France and the courts of Sicily in the thirteenth century. It is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Influence Of Leonardo Da Vinci On Modern Art Introduction Leonardo da Vinci is one of the most well known and acknowledged historical figure of all times. His genius excelled in arts, mathematics, engineering, science, philosophy and many other fields. I have chosen the topic How did Leonardo da Vinci influence modern artists? for several reasons. First and foremost reason is that I am fascinated by the enigma of a man we know as Leonardo da Vinci. The mysterious workings of his brain and the works he created as a result of numerous hours of analyzing the surrounding world amaze me. Secondly, as a contemporary artist myself, who was greatly inspired by da Vinci s craft, I wondered if nowadays there are people who share my passion and admiration for the man to a great extent. Lastly, I always knew that Leonardo da Vinci had had a great impact on the modern world, but it interested me to find out to what extent exactly had he influenced the world of modern art and if artists ... His artworks have a distinctive impact on the viewer, which makes them distinguishable among any other artwork of the time. His paintings had had a strong influence on the artists of the future. Starting with Hebrews 2:12, Jesus prays to the Lord and states that he will proclaim his name to the community. He states, in the midst of congregation I will praise you . More so there are tons of prayer going in the Bible that fit into different genres. Looking at different literary literary devices that encompasses genre we can begin to see how prayer really is a genre and what distinguishes it as such. Jesus tells us how to pray. [Matthew 6:9 13] This is an example of technique which fits into what makes prayer a genre. Jesus was showing how prayer should be done specifically. There is also different historical time frames in regards to prayer. Looking at how Abraham prayed in Genesis 18 to how Jonah prayed in Jonah 2 you can see a major difference in the times. Looking at Jonah 2, you can see that Jonah s prayer to God is a Psalm. Jonah uses metaphors throughout this prayer. Going back to Abraham s prayer he is speaking with no metaphors or figurative language to God. This is very important because the differences is what makes prayer have different genres. Different tones in prayer are heard as well, from when Jesus was begging God to not to kill him on the cross [Matthew 26:39] to Jesus in a much joyful tone as he rejoices. I chose these labs because they helped me realize how electrons work and why the periodic table is set up the way it is. It also helped me see how electrons work in the atoms of the periodic table. The Electron Distribution using Peas lab helped me understand how the electrons are placed in levels based on their energy. For this lab, we had to make a target and put peas into a funnel. After that, we let the peas go and saw what happened. The peas represented the electrons and the parts of the target were the different energy levels of an atom. The levels allow the electrons to keep moving up once they are full. After this is known, then we can put that information into an electron configuration. There is not an exact path as to where the electrons are supposed to go, so where the peas landed showed us the different regions of high and low density. Also in this lab, the quantum mechanical model shows that there is not a set spot as to how the electrons are going to go. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Emerging Adulthood Theory Paper This article was on a study that compared developmental trajectories of non students, versus college educated young adults, on the aspects of Arnett s theory of emerging adulthood (Mitchell Syed, 2015). However, there is a large group that literature has not been explored, and that category is on the young teen/adults who choose to not attend college, or are unable to because of socio economic status (Mitchell Syed, 2015). The emerging adulthood theory has been controversial. The controversial topic has been brought up by researchers questioning how non students may not experience the development of other emerging adults based on their interests to pursue adulthood without attending postsecondary education. The aim of the study was intended to compare emerging adulthood among individuals with college degrees, some college, and no college (Mitchell Syed, 2015). Arnett s development tasks for emerging adulthood include: finding a reliable and satisfying career, choosing a partner and starting a family, and establishing financial independence (Mitchell Syed, 2015). • 16. Inductive Learning Or Category Learning People learn new information through the induction of categories, allowing for the recognition that different stimuli are the same in a given way. Inductive learning involves recognition and understanding of the similarities and differences among and between stimuli. To learn a new category of information, exemplars belonging to a given category are conceptualized and grouped as belonging to that category. Such learning is fundamental in human cognition, enabling persons to categorize novel exemplars as instances of a given category or concept (Birnbaum, 2013). In a typical study conducted on the topic of inductive learning or category learning, students are presented with a set of exemplars belonging to a particular category and are subsequently asked to identify and induce a general concept pertaining to the given set of observed exemplars (Zulkiply, McLean, Burt, Bath, 2012). Such exemplars may include nonsense syllables, words, sentences, pictures and faces (Ebbinghaus, 1985/1913; Glenberg Lehmann, 1980; Rothkopf Coke, 1966; Hintzman Rogers, 1973; Cornell, 1980). Research on inductive learning shows that participants learn category similarities and category differences from the way in which study stimuli are presented to those participants. In earlier studies on inductive learning, researchers examined the benefits of category learning for education. Researchers focused on how to maximize participants performance in category learning related tasks. In two such ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The natural process of the water cycle is also known as the hydrologic cycle, which is the transference of water and how it shifts from earth into the atmosphere and back. When the sun heats the surfaces that maintain water, such as the oceans and plant life; it creates condensation and this forms vapor in the air. This moisture filled air, then rises and forms clouds. The mix between the water filled clouds and cooler air then forms the rain, ultimately recycling water back to earth. Carbon is an element that is present in both living and nonliving things. The carbon cycle is the movement of the carbon between sources such as plants, animals, rocks and water. This movement occurs when carbon is released into the atmosphere and is stored in those things, living and nonliving. The recycling process begins when these shifts occur. Nitrogen is a nutrient found in all living things on earth. It can be in the form of a gas or found in our soil and water sources. Like nitrogen, phosphorus serves as nourishment found in soil and our water systems and any residue that may occur from these sources. Both Nitrogen and phosphorus are reintroduced into the ecosystem through decomposition and transfers back into the earth. Biodiversity is the disturbance of the environment and this causes an imbalance in the ecosystem. When we overuse our plant, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In order for the United States to increase their worldwide K 12 educational efficiency ranking and avoid improper usage of such technological resources, school districts must perform a slow implementation of technological devices and their associated educational video games into their K 12 curriculum. Many of the problems associated with the LAUSD iPad Initiative could have been avoided if the school district tested the use of iPads on a few selected schools as oppose to immediately implementing the devices into every school in the district. Through the slow integration solution, faculty and program designers could have modified the problems associated with the devices and discover what areas the devices prove to be most useful. Once the problems have been resolved, the program could have been expanded to other schools deemed ready for the rollout of the iPads or other device if the iPad was deemed insufficient. Also, slow integration would be more cost effective as the program would not require 1.3 billion dollars as a starter cost for the program. However, many critics would point out that a process of slow integration would take a large amount of time and resources before any proof of educational increases within individual school districts, barring the question: how do educators implement these technological resources into their K 12 curriculum. However, there are always situations that no one really wants to face that involve the terminally ill who have extremely low to no chance of recovery. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some people fear death while others only fear the uncertainty that leads up to it. To some, the process of prolonging the inevitable with an increasingly painful process can seem much more cruel and immoral that just allowing them to die on their own terms. Another prominent reason for the implication of a social policy for physician assistance in dying is to help to create a little less uncertainty when it comes to which situations, where death is involved, are okay. If no states had any policy on physician assistance in dying there would still be cases where the only thing left that can be done is to let the patient move on and die. Cases like these could be a withdrawing of treatment, abstaining from a treatment, or perhaps even a more direct method (within legal means). Situations like these could allow for a slippery slope argument on what can and will be accepted in end of life cases. If a social policy were to be put into place, it might help to define what type of instances it is relatively okay to allow death. However, there will always be a slippery slope argument of how if one example is allowed than why not another. Oxalate Lab Essay Dr. Hjorth Gustin Chemistry 201 Lab November 8th, 2010 Synthesis and Analysis of Iron(III) Oxalate Complex Discussion This experiment initially involved the synthesis of an iron (III) oxalate complex with the general formula Kw[Fex(C2O4)y] zH2O. The variables x, y, and z were determined through the duration of the entire experiment. Part 1 involves the synthesis of an iron (III) oxalate complex. The iron is first presented in its Fe2+ form, so it must first be oxidized to Fe3+ before the oxalate ion will readily bind to it. Hydrogen peroxide is the oxidant of choice: 2Fe2+ (aq) + H2O2 (l) + 2H+ (aq) 2Fe3+ (aq) + 2H2O (l), in acidic solution. The oxalate ion is then free to coordinate to the Fe3+ ion, forming a ... Part 3 of the experiment utilized Spectrophotometry to determine the iron content in the iron (III) oxalate complex. The results were combined with findings from Part 1 and Part 2 to determine the empirical formula and percentage yield of the compound synthesized in Part 1. Although very similar, these are very loose terms when it comes to categorizing our government. The respect for human rights and involvement of the nation s people have been a main priority in the running of the government since the beginning. Unfortunately, over time, we are seeing our freedoms and individual participation in the governments decisions slowly declining in many aspects. Dickinson uses personification in this poem because it allows the reader to understand death in a more intimate way. Death became so real to her and to her contemporaries because of the time in which she lived. Through her life experiences, the poet became intimate with death. Because of all the disease and epidemics in her lifetime, many of her loved ones passed away. These deaths were very intense breaks in her life (Murray). Some critics suggest that the death of her cousin was the inspiration for this poem (Semansky). In any event, death had a large impact on Dickinson s life.
