Assignment On Chronic Pain Loging
Module 13 Discussion 2 Chronic Illness and Disability
Chronic Pain Journal Article
1. This assignment will be completed either in pairs or triads. View The Mystery of Chronic Pain.
Then, go to the American Chronic Pain website. Look at the Communication Tools. Be sure to review
the Pain Log.
a. Discuss your reaction to the video and to the pain scale/log. Consider the following questions:
My reaction to the video is that the most simple and light object can cause pain to a person who is
dealing with chronic pain. It makes a certain area on an individual s body that is in pain, a very
sensitive spot/area. An area on an individual s body that have pain does send signals of the pain to the
brain, and back to the affected area. In my opinion, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

internally and externally. The research that I will know beforehand will help me to maintain a
professional relationship with my client(s).
3. What did you learn from the Pain Log?
What I have learned from the Pain Log is that it wants to know more about an individual internally
and externally. It is based on a scale of 0 (highest) to 10 (lowest) on what an individual do, and how he
or she feels. The Pain Log is something new to me, and should be in doctor offices, and hospitals.
Even though there is a simple overall pain log of what level of pain currently experiencing; however,
this pain log is different, by including other important questions about an individuals well being.

The Current State of the CHinese Economic System
The current state of the Chinese economic system has drawn international attention and praise due to
its overwhelmingly positive statistical growth. This growth, according to the nation s leader, stems
from what its government calls strides toward common prosperity. As of 2013, China s leaders
proclaim to be moving toward a state of theoretical consciousness. In China, consistency and
persistence is promoted over spontaneity within the confines of a sound economic structure, which has
created a fertile ground for socialism to grow. A recent documentary composed by a conglomerate of
media outlets, depicts the current economic landscape of China. Its story unravels to present the
growing city of Shanghai as progressive, oppressive, and modern; yet, its growth has been rooted in
older communist practices, given to much economic success and an uncertain future ( City of Dreams
). The changes that have taken place in modern China since the late 1970 s has grown its economy to
unprecedented ends, and by unprecedented means. The transformation into an industrialized
capitalistic society has catapulted its development into an uncharted realm, prompting much
discussion on its future impact on the world at large. In the following report, we will examine China s
economical changes in three decades, encompassing three distinct phases of economic reform:
recovery, establishment, and improvement.
Socialism, combined with practice deliberately and uniquely designed by China s republic, has

Ground Water Contamination and Household Response in...
There are two sources of drinking water, surface water and ground water and they are each managed,
monitored and regulated differently even though the actual water systems are interrelated and
integrated. The state of Missouri has historically had plenty of high quality fresh water sources; in the
northern half of the state most of the drinking water comes from surface water while the majority of
the southern population gets water from underground aquifers (Missouri Department of Natural
Resources, 2010). The Missouri River and its alluvium wells provide more than half of the state s
residents with drinking water as most of the urban centers in the state are located along its course.

The contamination was ultimately found to be Escherichia coli 0157:H7 commonly referred to as E.
coli or EC0157. Investigations by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Missouri
state and county public health departments determined the most probable source of contamination was
leakage of sewage near broken water main lines that then entered the drinking water distribution
system (Swerdlow et al, 1992). According to the report by Swerdlow et al (1992), this particular
incident had the distinction of being not only the largest incidence of EC0157 infection at that time but
also the first due to a multiple resistant organism, and the first documented to be transmitted by water
(Swerdlow et al, 1992, p. 818). Testing of water taken directly from the wells in Cabool revealed the
water contamination did not occur in the ground water itself but was initiated in and then distributed
via the water supply system. The Cabool contamination could have been prevented had the town
followed the recommended standard procedure of hyperchlorination immediately after water line
breaks or repairs (Swerdlow et el, 1992). It is common for water systems to have small leaks but they
usually do not result in contamination as the positive flow of water pressure prevents inward
infiltration of the system but when there are breaks in the lines and pressure is lost, contamination can
flow back into the water lines.

Introduction
The Roman Catholic Church is the largest church of all the Christian denominations with over 1.2
billion followers around the world. The Bishop of Rome or in other words, the Pope, is at the forefront
in leading such an expansive religion that extends its influence and borders beyond the Vatican City in
Rome. The Church teaches that they are the one, true church founded by Jesus Christ, claiming their
bishops to be the successors of his apostles, and that the Pope himself as the same with the many prior
popes in history are the successor to Saint Peter whom Jesus gave the Keys of Heaven to be the ...

The euphoria after JFK s victory of Catholic Americans experiencing a positive perspective by the
remainder of the country lasted until the 21st century. The biggest setback the church would face
regarding their public image was about to unfold. The Boston Globe released an article covering five
Roman Catholic priests being prosecuted for child sex abuse. The 2002 article unanimously won a
Pulitzer Prize becoming a national scandal that brought many more people to come forward with their
allegations of abuse. Roman Catholic diocese across the country quickly learned that this wasn t an
isolated issue and began to pay out settlements in the millions towards the vast number of civil
lawsuits. The church asserted remorse for the countless priests at fault, estimating the problem was
amongst no more than one percent of the 410,000 Roman Catholic priests worldwide. Regardless, the
major concern was approximately 80 percent of the cases reported occurred in the United States, while
a report by the John Jay College of Criminal Justice indicated 4 percent of priests who served between
the years 1950 2002 had allegations made against them. Addressing the issue as an internal matter,
matters were taken into the church s hands. Instead of permanently removing priests from their roles,
they were moved from one parish to another, remaining in close contact with children. Psychological
treatment was given to offending priests, while rarely reporting incidents to the police. The church s
defense was priests were allowed to return to duty once psychologists and psychiatrists notified their
bishops of their medical assessment, deeming them fit to return and face reassignment. A panel of
eight non Catholic psychiatric experts concluded at a 2003 Vatican Conference on Sexual Abuse that
the Catholic hierarchy failed to realize the seriousness of the problem, urge to cover up the

Limitations Of Reducing Crime In A School Environment
Limitations of reducing crime in a school environment.
There are always limitations to deter actions at school because the environment is meant to be a safe
haven for children and teens to go in and get a proper education. So, stepping up security in schools is
not always possible because parents would not always support the advancement of security, due to
risks with safety and the atmosphere where they would not want their children in. The focus of my
qualitative research is to find if there is a correlation between the level of education that a person has
and the amount of crime they commit/ will commit based on their educational level. The objectives
during the study will be to find certain patterns that may underline why or why not crime rates differ
based on the level of education that a person has. One question and objective of the study is to find out
whether extracurricular activities advocate students to avoid committing crimes because they were a
part of a different society outside of the classroom and that would hypothetically reduce crime because
they value their person more.
Limitations of identifying a correct correspondence of a certain variable to the others.
Limitations of being able to identify school conditions.
Collecting information on extracurricular activities and the effects it has on students. Research Design
The research design selected for this experiment is participant observation. Where we would develop a
sustained relationship with people and observe them as they go about their days during school and
outside of school to fully gain the understanding of the variables that we aim to identify throughout
the experiment, and see if they influence the subject participants. With the exception that we
understand a subject cannot be constantly followed due to restrictions, so we intend on placing
restrictions to allow more concurrent observations of the ethnographic study. The limitations will be
that an observer may only observe a participant on their way to school, on their way back, and during
school in order to provide a concurrent data set for every subject that is studied, and with the
understanding that a large population in Chicago uses public transportation, observing a

Other studies conducted indicate that a high stressful life event has a high significant association with
consequent major depressive episodes at an astounding 75% proportion; evidently stating a causal
relationship (Kendler et al. 1999). Kendler et al. (1999) supported that a higher causal relationship
with stressor events was more evident in the first stage of depression over recurrent episodes of major
depression and furthermore, found that 85.4% of the sample indicated the stressful event and the
arrival of depressive symptoms occurred in the same month. Furthermore supporting the findings
previously stated by Kendall et al (2004), not all major depressive episodes are as a result of stressor
events, but may instead be attributed to the predisposition of neurotic temperaments (Kendler et al
1999). Further support for Vanessa suffering a major depressive episode is further ensued by the
theory of ambiguous loss termed by Boss (1999) who describes this term as a situation that stalls the
grieving process through the obstruction of coping and stress management, as a result of physical
absence and psychological presence, usually leading to feelings of guilt, anxiety and uncertainty and
ultimately leading to depression. Finally, in an attempt to demonstrate that Vanessa s reactions to a
romantic breakup Parker et al. s (2015) study demonstrates that depressive symptoms is a primary
response to her stressor.

The tall treehouses serve the purpose of protecting the children and women from capitation by other

Yes, the Korowai people have practiced cannibalism, according to anthropologists. Emily Payne, a
publisher in the Daily Mail, says anthropologists suspect that cannibalism is no longer practiced by the
Korowai clans, despite reports of it as recently as 2006 (Payne, 2015). A reporter for the Smithsonian
magazine named, Paul Raffaele, visited the Korowai tribe in New Guinea to find the truth about their
cannibalism. He reported that, today the Korowai are among the very few tribes believed to eat human
flesh. They live about 100 miles inland from the Arafura Sea, which is where Michael Rockefeller, a
son of then New York governor Nelson Rockefeller, disappeared in 1961 while collecting artifacts
from another Papuan tribe; his body was never found. Most Korowai still live with little knowledge of
the world beyond their homelands and frequently feud with one another. Some are said to kill and eat
male witches they call khakhua.

Grumpy and already five precious minutes late for his afternoon snack, Keyshawn glanced quickly at
the words in the column to the left and started to write simple sentences using those words: I piled up
all the dishes in the dish rack. I mopped up all the water and I dried the floor. Imagine that you re a

next few sentences so quickly they were almost illegible: A small dinosaur popped out of the toilet and

The Role of Ambition in Macbeth
The role of ambition in Macbeth The Tragedy of Macbeth by William Shakespeare recounts Macbeth
s meteoric rise as a soldier and promising future leader whose megalomaniacal ambition led to his
tragic downfall. In addition to Macbeth s ambitions, which initially enable him to be strong leader and
soldier, he is influenced heavily by his wife, Lady Macbeth, and the three witches that prophesize his
ascent to the throne, as well as warn him of his eventual demise. It can be argued that it is Macbeth s
ambition that allows him to succeed in his endeavors, however the goals to which he is working
toward influence the results of his hard work. Macbeth s ambitions help him to become a war hero,
and as his goals change, his ambitions drive him to become a tyrannical villain. At the beginning of
the play, Macbeth and Banquo, Macbeth s friend and a sergeant in King Duncan s army, are hailed as
heroes in helping to defeat Macdonwald who led the allied forces of Norway and Ireland against
Scotland. The Sergeant exalts Macbeth s prowess and states,
For brave Macbeth well he deserves that name
Disdaining fortune, with his brandish d steel,
Which smoked with bloody execution,
Like valour s minion carved out his passage
Till he faced the slave;
Which ne er shook hands, nor bade farewell to him,
Till he unseam d him from the nave to the chaps,
And fix d his head upon our battlements. (Shakespeare, n.d., 1.2.35 42)

A prime example is the way immigrants change their name to an Americanized version to fit in better.
When immigrants come to America they come for new opportunities and to make a better life for
themselves. According to an article from the New York Times, adopting names that sounded more
American might help immigrants speed assimilation, avoid detection, deter discrimination or just be
better for the businesses they hoped to start in their new homeland (Roberts). Changing identity has
always been part of the culture in the United States, sometimes it is for a good reason and sometimes
it is for a bad reason. Many times people change because they are persecuted for who they are.
Another example of someone being discriminated against happened during World War I when a
Brooklyn judge refused the application of a Weitz to become a Weeks. There is no good reason why
persons of German extraction should be permitted to conceal the fact by adopting through the aid of
the court names of American or English origin, the judge ruled (Roberts). His person tried to escape
discrimination and the anti German sentiment that America held during the war and was denied.
Sometimes people refuse to change and it does not end well for them. The example that Mukherjee
uses in her essay compares the experiences of her and her sister when they both come to America for

Dental Implants Argumentative Essay
Losing one or more teeth due to an accident or oral health issue can be challenging, so asking your
dentist about a dental implant is essential for restoring your smile back to a healthy, appealing state.
Unfortunately, most patients are not familiar with the fabrication, installation, and overall look and
feel of implants, so it is important to ask questions when consulting your dentist. Here are a few things
you should ask to ensure proper understanding before getting your implants.
Am I a Good Candidate for Implant Dentistry?
It is important to note that not every person is a good candidate for implants. Since the implants are
attached to the jaw, you must have a strong jawbone with adequate bone mass.
Placing the implants is an invasive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One common myth associated with dental implants is that you will have a complete set of beautiful
teeth after one appointment with your dentist. Unfortunately, multiple appointments are needed to
ensure the implants are appealing and natural looking, custom fitted, and secure.
After your dentist determines you are a good candidate for the implants, you will need to schedule two
procedures. During this first procedure, your dentist will make a small incision in the gums where the
implant will be placed. A hole is made using a dental grade drill and the titanium implant rod is
inserted into the hole. The incision is then stitched up.
The second procedure occurs after the gum tissue heals, which can be between 3 to 6 weeks. The
implant is exposed by making a new incision. Then, your dentist will screw a cap onto the implant.
Once the cap heals the gum tissue, your dentist will place the crown, or artificial tooth, onto the top of
the implant.
Are Implants Permanent?
While shocking for many patients to hear, your implants may not repair your smile permanently.
Certain conditions, such as improper oral hygiene, smoking, and using your teeth as tools to open

where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. Living with integrity,
leading by example, building a great management team and inspiring employees or soldiers to
greatness are some of the key points in being an effective leader. Most great leaders are passionate
about what they do; they have the ability to communicate to diverse audiences. Leaders should focus
on the people, inspire trust, and have their eyes set on the horizon. Many people confuse management
and leadership. Peter F. Drucker said, Management is doing things right; leadership is doing the right
things. Being able to see the difference between being a manager and a leader is also a good
leadership trait.
Is vision a good trait for an effective leader to obtain? The answer is yes. Vision not in the sense of
someone s eyesight but in the sense of how they view things is very important when it comes to the
effectiveness of a good leader. Vision in the mental aspect helps the

We Will Pay You Langston Hughes Analysis
Langston Hughes, a writer during the Harlem Renaissance, argued that the Negro artist works against
an undertow of sharp criticism and misunderstanding from his own group and unintentional bribes
from the whites. Oh, be respectable, write about nice people, show how good we are, say the Negroes.
Be stereotyped, don t go too far, don t shatter our illusions about you, don t amuse us too seriously. We
will pay you, say the whites. Hughes then writes in response to these pressures that ... it is the duty of
the younger Negro artist ... to change through the force of his art that old whispering I want to be
white, hidden in the aspirations of his people, to Why should I want to be white? I am a Negro and
beautiful. Both black and white ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Hurston s writing also creates a positive perspective on black culture. Hurston describes the
town in the Everglades through the eyes of Janie, writing that no matter how rough [joking and
teasing] was, people seldom got mad, because everything was done for a laugh , and everybody loved
to hear Ed Dockery, Bootyny, and Sop de Bottom in a skin game (134). Rather than showing the town
s lack of seriousness in a negative way, Hurston depicts the town as full of laughter, love, and
lighthearted games. The characters of Ed Dockery, Bootyny, and Sop de Bottom live in the Everglades
with Janie and Tea Cake and are a central part of the community. Even though the Everglades town is
stereotypically black, Hurston presents this town and its blackness in a positive light. In addition,
Janie is accepted quickly by the town; she can listen and laugh and even talk some if she wanted to
and can tell big stories herself from listening to the rest (134). In Eatonville, whose African American
residents act less stereotypically black and pretentiously try to emulate white people, Janie is unable to
assimilate in such a community. However, the more stereotypically black town in the Everglades is
much more accepting towards Janie. By presenting the culture of the Everglades in a favorable way
from Janie s point of view, Hurston shows pride for conventional black culture. The town in the
Everglades is also illustrated as lively and jubilant; specifically, nights in the town have pianos living
three lifetimes in one , blues made and used right on the spot , dancing, fighting, singing, crying,
laughing, winning and losing love every hour . The town s residents work all day for money, fight all
night for love , and the rich black earth cling[s] to bodies and bit[es]

The Anunciation And Expulsion From Paradise Summary
Giovani di Paolo s The Annunciation and Expulsion from Paradise is currently in the National Gallery
of Art in Washington DC. According to the panel next to the artwork, the piece was finished in 1435
CE and made of tempera on panel. This Sienese altarpiece from the start of the Italian Renaissance
shows the experimentation of form at that time. Giovanni di Paolo uses golden texture to display
divinity, line to illustrate architectural perspective, and a strategic use of scale throughout the
composition in order to portray the importance of the religious context. The golden foil that
compliments tempera works at the time draws your eye to specific points in the piece. Drawing your
eye to the upper left corner, the golden material then aids the eye in traveling down towards the
bottom right corner. Because the largest golden form is in the upper right corner, your sight starts
there. This is where god is represented and the symbol for divinity starts. Divinity implied by golden
nimbuses or halos continue throughout the piece around the head of divine figures. The only two
figures on the left without nimbuses represent Adam and Eve who are no longer divine one kicked out
of paradise. This relates to the second part of the title, Expulsion from Paradise. For obvious cultural
reasons, the angels have the heavenly halos. One angel is specifically known, Archangel Gabriel,
because of the annunciation scene with Mary in the center. Joseph, at the right, and Mary both also

The Church Is A Place For Healing
According to the author, people want to believe that the church is a place for healing. The churches are
telling people they can heal, so they want to see it. The church has been telling them Christ is the
answer to all their problems. In a practical way, do these people find the church a place of love and
acceptances? Do they find an environment that demonstrates God s unconditional love and promotes
personal healing? Too often, they do not. (p. 11) It is wise and mature leadership in the church that can
see the issues and mentor these new believers to healing and wholeness before dumping them in
needed service roles.
Trying Too Hard
The author believes that churches fail because they try too hard. We become so passionate and
overzealous we take the fun out of being a Christian. Life is lived with a set of do s and don ts. Rules
do not promote holiness and growth. Jesus rebuked the Pharisees for their adherence to rules, but
denying the spirit of grace and mercy. We try hard to be righteous enough to bring healing to people,
but that very effort works strongly to prevent the healing we strive so hard to promote. (p. 12) As the
author says, Lighten up in Jesus name!
Three points made by the author does not provide a healing environment is (1) we talk too much, (2)
we need to listen to God first, and (3) we need to make others feel loved by listening to them.

The Causes of World War II Essay
The Causes of World War II At the end of the First World War all the different countries such as
France, United Kingdom, United States and Germany thought that the peace would last forever.
However, as we have seen, they were terribly wrong… In 1939 a more violent and destructive war
began. This time people fought all over the world, in Asia, Europe and also in the United States (Pearl
harbour). I shall now explain what the main causes of the war were. The aggression began at the end
of the First World War, when the Treaty of Versailles was signed and Germany was forced to pay a lot
of money to France for the reparations of the obliterated cities. Their country (Germany) had to be
divided ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He wanted living space in the east and he wanted the destruction of communism. He also wanted to
expand the German ideology all over Europe. Another long term cause was the weakness of the
League of Nations. It was clearly not bound together by the strong bonds that it needed… For a start
the main super powers of the world were not in it, especially USA, and USA did begin the League of
Nations. There was clearly no chance of peace with the League of Nations, as Hitler quite easily
backed out without much question! It was far too casual for it to be a success. During 1936 to 1939,
Hitler was annexing different countries, like Austria and Czechoslovakia. Churchill was the prime
minister of the English government at the time, and he along with the French government decided not
to react, they thought that Hitler was a gentlemen (this was in fact the exact word Churchill used at
this time…!) and that he will not expand to more countries… however they were very wrong! An
important factor displayed here is that the French and English didn t want to fight again; the effects of
First World War were still on their mind… they did not want more destruction than there already had
been. At the same time Hitler was taking over more and more countries (not entire countries but parts
of them… he was using a technique he called

Quantum Cumputers Essay examples
Quantum Cumputers By the strange laws of quantum mechanics, Folger, a senior editor at Discover,
notes, an electron, proton, or other subatomic particle is in more than one place at a time, because
individual particles behave like waves, these different places are different states that an atom can exist
in simultaneously. Ten years ago, Folger writes, David Deutsch, a physicist at Oxford University,
argued that it may be possible to build an extremely powerful computer based on this peculiar reality.
In 1994, Peter Shor, a mathematician at AT T Bell Laboratories in New Jersey, proved that, in theory
at least, a full blown quantum computer could factor even the largest numbers in seconds an
accomplishment impossible for even the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In our computers, circuit boards are designed so that a 1 or a 0 is represented by differing amounts of
electricity, the outcome of one possibility has no effect on the other. However, a problem arises when
quantum theories are introduced, the outcomes come from a single piece of hardware existing in two
separate realities and these realties overlap one another affecting both outcomes at once. These
problems can become one of the greatest strengths of the new computer however, if it is possible to
program the outcomes in such a way so that undesirable effects cancel themselves out while the
positive ones reinforce each other. This quantum system must be able to program the equation into it,
verify its computation, and extract the results.
Several possible systems have been looked at by researchers, one of which involves using electrons,
atoms, or ions trapped inside of magnetic fields, intersecting lasers would then be used to excite the
confined particles to the right wavelength and a second time to restore the particles to their ground
state. A sequence of pulses could be used to array the particles into a pattern usable in our system of
equations. Another possibility by Seth Lloyd of MIT proposed using organic metallic polymers (one
dimensional molecules made of repeating atoms). The energy states of a given atom would be
determined by its interaction with neighboring atoms in the chain. Laser pulses

Neoclassical Theory Of Keynesian Theory
ECOP2011
Where are the Neoclassical elements in the Neoclassical Keynesian synthesis? In what way does it
differ from the Cambridge (UK) view of Keynesian economics?
Intro
The Neoclassical Keynesian synthesis contains theoretical principles and ideas from both the
Neoclassical school of economic thought and Keynes General Theory. The UK Cambridge Post
Keynesian view of economics also contains elements from both these schools, yet the Neoclassical
Keynesian synthesis and the UK Cambridge Keynesian bodies of economic thought differ in their
views, methods and ideas. The two schools utilise different models to reach the similar conclusion that
the economy will tend towards full employment equilibrium in a long run situation a conclusion that
complements a Neoclassical ideology or perspective of capitalism as a market based organisation of
society s production, distribution and consumption. It can be argued, then, that although there are
several examples of Neoclassical principles within the Neoclassical Keynesian synthesis, that the
general acceptance of a general equilibrium situation in the long run is the defining Neoclassical
feature. The paper will first examine the Neoclassical elements in the synthesis school of thought, with
reference to its defining IS/LM model, the Phillips Curve and the Solow Swan Growth model. The
UK Cambridge Keynesian school rejects Hicks and Hansens IS/LM model, and instead utilises
proportionately more Keynesian ideas in its body of

Carnivores Lab Report
In this lab we studied selection and adaptation and we did this by looking at skulls of a variety of
species and we categorized them based on their feeding groups. We looked at omnivores, carnivores,
and herbivores; however, for our experiments we only examined carnivores and herbivores. The paper
we used in this unit was studying the way the shape of a skull can determine and help explain their
feeding groups; they used the dog family when doing this study (Slater et al.). For our experiment we
used the skulls of carnivores and herbivores provided to us by our lab instructor. In her 1990 book
Christine Janis states how there have been several studies that were focused on meat eaters, or on
primates but little were on mammalian herbivores. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Germany s Reunification Essay
Germany s Reunification
It was all so good in the beginning. In 1989, after
40 years of separation, the two Germanys finally
became one again. But as often, there were and
still are doubts about whether or not reunification
was the right move to do. The hope that two
different social, political as well as two different
economical and educational systems would grow
together neatly without major problems was Fig. 1.1 Source: German Reunification and the Present
nothing but wishful thinking. East Germany [German Democratic Government GDR] was a
communist, state controlled country, whereas West Germany [Federal Republic of Germany

Before reunification the East was a one party state, where the people never got to vote on the political
party they wanted to. They never got to express their views and ideas. Only the views of the State was
accepted. Almost everyone living in this system, had as much as 50 years experience of living under
this dictatorship and knew democracy only from the media [Christoph
Singelnstein]. After reunification, the people were finally able to experience what it was like to vote
for their country, and to express their own views. The people from the East had a choice in their future
and that of their country.
When the press was run by the State, there was no freedom of speech. Everything that was on the
radio, T.V., or in the newspapers had to be censored so not to contain any politically incorrect material.
Now, after reunification, there is freedom of speech, the people are allowed to express their opinions
without the danger of being arrested or even thrown into jail without any legal help. When East
Germany was a socialist state, there was no concept of privatised enterprises.
All factories and businesses were state owned, therefore all profit made from the various enterprises
went directly back to the State in order for the State to invest in its economy. The
State used it to create free health care and subsidized housing. As well, they invested large amounts of

Argumentative Essay On Religion
Religion was discovered back in 2000 BC and is considered to be a trait common to cultures
worldwide to this day. Some use religion as a way to cope, to connect, but few could use religion as a
weapon against others. Since religion began, over 195,035,000 lives have been lost in tragedies
brought on in the name of faith. Regardless of the brutality religion has created, it has also caused
others to come together in order to speak out. As a result of religions regression in society, humans are
able to progress for the sake of defending human rights. Christianity is one of the largest religions to
stand with more than 2.22 billion followers. However, not all Christians share the same stance on
issues, whether it be political or moral. An example would be the Westboro Baptist Church; a hate
group known for its hostility towards those who do not meet up to their standards, specifically
members of the LGBT, Catholics, American soldiers, and Muslims. The church originally received
national attention in October, 1998, for picketing the funeral of a man named Matthew Shepard who
was beaten and tortured for being gay. Romaine Patterson, a friend of Shepard s, recalled that she
couldn t take her eyes off of the neon signs that read, God Hates Fags , Matt in Hell , and AIDS Cures
Fags . From there, the church had displayed Shepard in their memorial section on their website. The
page states that the church does not support the fact he was murdered, but that they picketed in order

African Americans From The Civil Rights Era Essay
Delana C. Henry Prof. Kim L. Dulaney Cultural Diversity 1020.51 2 October 2015 African Americans
1968 Present Introduction We re not Americans, we re Africans who happen to be in America. We
were kidnapped and brought here against our will from Africa. We didn t land on Plymouth Rock that
rock landed on us (Malcolm X). This quotation symbolizes the sentiments of many African Americans
past and present who were involuntarily brought to the shores of the United States of America. Since
arriving here, African Americans have been mistreated, misinformed, misguided, misplaced, and
misunderstood more than any other ethnic group that has set foot on these soils. In this paper, I will
attempt to provide a brief history and describe the timeline of African Americans from the Civil Rights
Era until the present day. Coming to America History.com explains that Africans first came to America
in the year 1619 as indentured servants in Jamestown, Virginia. These indentured servants voluntarily
contracted to work for a set amount of time in exchange for their freedom. To provide a cheaper form
of labor, in beginning of the 17th century, the European settlers opted to capture slaves from the
western shores of Africa to work for a small fraction of the cost they were paying indentured slaves.
The numbers of slaves that were brought here was estimated to be between 6 and 7 million in the 18th
century. Slaves were used for many types of work such as, picking cotton, harvesting

The Human Genome Project ( Hgp )
In 2000, the $3 billion dollar project The Human Genome Project (HGP) came to completion.
Geneticists can now provide a patient with a comprehensive map of their DNA sequence. Obtaining
such information can tell a patient if they have the gene variant associated with many different
genetically linked diseases such as Alzheimer s, diabetes, heart conditions or even cancer. This
medical revolution can indicate what drugs to take, at what dosage and what lifestyle choices can be
made in order to prevent the disease or at the least, control the symptoms at the earliest stages as
possible. However, this new diagnostic tool has raised some ethical issues: Will your privacy be

However, a percentage of the Human Genome Project budget was devoted to the Ethical, Legal, and
Social Implications (ELSI) research. This program was founded to identify and address issues raised
by genomic research, including conflicts of interest affecting all the concerned parties. These issues
also include worries about insurers using genetic information to impose high premiums and deny
coverage or companies refusing employment opportunities. Yet with new technology comes new laws;
for example, in the United States, the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act was passed on May
21st 2008[1]. As the name implies, this law prohibits employers and health insurance companies from
using genetic information, protecting citizens from discrimination based on their predisposition to
developing a genetic disorder. If DNA sequencing were to become standard medical procedure, such
laws will have to be enacted in order to protect the patient s rights.
In the process of developing the Human Genome Project, multiple gene expression based cancer
markers were identified. Furthermore, geneticists began to note that cancer pathologies are most often
not restricted to one single genomic mutation. On the contrary, a large number of different alterations
in a patient s DNA come together and cause the malignant transformation. The combination of
mutations, structural variations and

  • 3. The Current State of the CHinese Economic System The current state of the Chinese economic system has drawn international attention and praise due to its overwhelmingly positive statistical growth. This growth, according to the nation s leader, stems from what its government calls strides toward common prosperity. As of 2013, China s leaders proclaim to be moving toward a state of theoretical consciousness. In China, consistency and persistence is promoted over spontaneity within the confines of a sound economic structure, which has created a fertile ground for socialism to grow. A recent documentary composed by a conglomerate of media outlets, depicts the current economic landscape of China. Its story unravels to present the growing city of Shanghai as progressive, oppressive, and modern; yet, its growth has been rooted in older communist practices, given to much economic success and an uncertain future ( City of Dreams ). The changes that have taken place in modern China since the late 1970 s has grown its economy to unprecedented ends, and by unprecedented means. The transformation into an industrialized capitalistic society has catapulted its development into an uncharted realm, prompting much discussion on its future impact on the world at large. In the following report, we will examine China s economical changes in three decades, encompassing three distinct phases of economic reform: recovery, establishment, and improvement. Socialism, combined with practice deliberately and uniquely designed by China s republic, has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Ground Water Contamination and Household Response in... There are two sources of drinking water, surface water and ground water and they are each managed, monitored and regulated differently even though the actual water systems are interrelated and integrated. The state of Missouri has historically had plenty of high quality fresh water sources; in the northern half of the state most of the drinking water comes from surface water while the majority of the southern population gets water from underground aquifers (Missouri Department of Natural Resources, 2010). The Missouri River and its alluvium wells provide more than half of the state s residents with drinking water as most of the urban centers in the state are located along its course. The contamination was ultimately found to be Escherichia coli 0157:H7 commonly referred to as E. coli or EC0157. Investigations by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Missouri state and county public health departments determined the most probable source of contamination was leakage of sewage near broken water main lines that then entered the drinking water distribution system (Swerdlow et al, 1992). According to the report by Swerdlow et al (1992), this particular incident had the distinction of being not only the largest incidence of EC0157 infection at that time but also the first due to a multiple resistant organism, and the first documented to be transmitted by water (Swerdlow et al, 1992, p. 818). Testing of water taken directly from the wells in Cabool revealed the water contamination did not occur in the ground water itself but was initiated in and then distributed via the water supply system. The Cabool contamination could have been prevented had the town followed the recommended standard procedure of hyperchlorination immediately after water line breaks or repairs (Swerdlow et el, 1992). It is common for water systems to have small leaks but they usually do not result in contamination as the positive flow of water pressure prevents inward infiltration of the system but when there are breaks in the lines and pressure is lost, contamination can flow back into the water lines. ... Roman Catholic Saints Catholicism: Saints to United States Intro to Anthropology 110 Section 001 Jacob Jendo April 24, 2015 Introduction The Roman Catholic Church is the largest church of all the Christian denominations with over 1.2 billion followers around the world. The Bishop of Rome or in other words, the Pope, is at the forefront in leading such an expansive religion that extends its influence and borders beyond the Vatican City in Rome. The Church teaches that they are the one, true church founded by Jesus Christ, claiming their bishops to be the successors of his apostles, and that the Pope himself as the same with the many prior popes in history are the successor to Saint Peter whom Jesus gave the Keys of Heaven to be the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The euphoria after JFK s victory of Catholic Americans experiencing a positive perspective by the remainder of the country lasted until the 21st century. The biggest setback the church would face regarding their public image was about to unfold. The Boston Globe released an article covering five Roman Catholic priests being prosecuted for child sex abuse. The 2002 article unanimously won a Pulitzer Prize becoming a national scandal that brought many more people to come forward with their allegations of abuse. Roman Catholic diocese across the country quickly learned that this wasn t an isolated issue and began to pay out settlements in the millions towards the vast number of civil lawsuits. The church asserted remorse for the countless priests at fault, estimating the problem was amongst no more than one percent of the 410,000 Roman Catholic priests worldwide. Regardless, the major concern was approximately 80 percent of the cases reported occurred in the United States, while a report by the John Jay College of Criminal Justice indicated 4 percent of priests who served between the years 1950 2002 had allegations made against them. Addressing the issue as an internal matter, matters were taken into the church s hands. Instead of permanently removing priests from their roles, they were moved from one parish to another, remaining in close contact with children. Psychological treatment was given to offending priests, while rarely reporting incidents to the police. The church s defense was priests were allowed to return to duty once psychologists and psychiatrists notified their bishops of their medical assessment, deeming them fit to return and face reassignment. A panel of eight non Catholic psychiatric experts concluded at a 2003 Vatican Conference on Sexual Abuse that the Catholic hierarchy failed to realize the seriousness of the problem, urge to cover up the ... • 8. Limitations Of Reducing Crime In A School Environment Limitations of reducing crime in a school environment. There are always limitations to deter actions at school because the environment is meant to be a safe haven for children and teens to go in and get a proper education. So, stepping up security in schools is not always possible because parents would not always support the advancement of security, due to risks with safety and the atmosphere where they would not want their children in. The focus of my qualitative research is to find if there is a correlation between the level of education that a person has and the amount of crime they commit/ will commit based on their educational level. The objectives during the study will be to find certain patterns that may underline why or why not crime rates differ based on the level of education that a person has. One question and objective of the study is to find out whether extracurricular activities advocate students to avoid committing crimes because they were a part of a different society outside of the classroom and that would hypothetically reduce crime because they value their person more. Limitations of identifying a correct correspondence of a certain variable to the others. Limitations of being able to identify school conditions. Collecting information on extracurricular activities and the effects it has on students. Research Design The research design selected for this experiment is participant observation. Where we would develop a sustained relationship with people and observe them as they go about their days during school and outside of school to fully gain the understanding of the variables that we aim to identify throughout the experiment, and see if they influence the subject participants. With the exception that we understand a subject cannot be constantly followed due to restrictions, so we intend on placing restrictions to allow more concurrent observations of the ethnographic study. The limitations will be that an observer may only observe a participant on their way to school, on their way back, and during school in order to provide a concurrent data set for every subject that is studied, and with the understanding that a large population in Chicago uses public transportation, observing a ... Other studies conducted indicate that a high stressful life event has a high significant association with consequent major depressive episodes at an astounding 75% proportion; evidently stating a causal relationship (Kendler et al. 1999). Kendler et al. (1999) supported that a higher causal relationship with stressor events was more evident in the first stage of depression over recurrent episodes of major depression and furthermore, found that 85.4% of the sample indicated the stressful event and the arrival of depressive symptoms occurred in the same month. Furthermore supporting the findings previously stated by Kendall et al (2004), not all major depressive episodes are as a result of stressor events, but may instead be attributed to the predisposition of neurotic temperaments (Kendler et al 1999). Further support for Vanessa suffering a major depressive episode is further ensued by the theory of ambiguous loss termed by Boss (1999) who describes this term as a situation that stalls the grieving process through the obstruction of coping and stress management, as a result of physical absence and psychological presence, usually leading to feelings of guilt, anxiety and uncertainty and ultimately leading to depression. Finally, in an attempt to demonstrate that Vanessa s reactions to a romantic breakup Parker et al. s (2015) study demonstrates that depressive symptoms is a primary response to her stressor. ... Wooden barriers around the treehouses protect children. Yes, the Korowai people have practiced cannibalism, according to anthropologists. Emily Payne, a publisher in the Daily Mail, says anthropologists suspect that cannibalism is no longer practiced by the Korowai clans, despite reports of it as recently as 2006 (Payne, 2015). A reporter for the Smithsonian magazine named, Paul Raffaele, visited the Korowai tribe in New Guinea to find the truth about their cannibalism. He reported that, today the Korowai are among the very few tribes believed to eat human flesh. They live about 100 miles inland from the Arafura Sea, which is where Michael Rockefeller, a son of then New York governor Nelson Rockefeller, disappeared in 1961 while collecting artifacts from another Papuan tribe; his body was never found. Keyshawn Narrative Grumpy and already five precious minutes late for his afternoon snack, Keyshawn glanced quickly at the words in the column to the left and started to write simple sentences using those words: I piled up all the dishes in the dish rack. It was hard to tell who was more fed up with the assignment, the hungry Keyshawn, or I, his frustrated tutor. What do you say we make this a little more interesting? I asked. Keyshawn picked up his pencil, started to write, and immediately erased his progress. His face lit up. He scribbled the next few sentences so quickly they were almost illegible: A small dinosaur popped out of the toilet and pushed down all the soap so I carried him to the forest. • 14. The Role of Ambition in Macbeth The role of ambition in Macbeth The Tragedy of Macbeth by William Shakespeare recounts Macbeth s meteoric rise as a soldier and promising future leader whose megalomaniacal ambition led to his tragic downfall. In addition to Macbeth s ambitions, which initially enable him to be strong leader and soldier, he is influenced heavily by his wife, Lady Macbeth, and the three witches that prophesize his ascent to the throne, as well as warn him of his eventual demise. It can be argued that it is Macbeth s ambition that allows him to succeed in his endeavors, however the goals to which he is working toward influence the results of his hard work. Macbeth s ambitions help him to become a war hero, and as his goals change, his ambitions drive him to become a tyrannical villain. At the beginning of the play, Macbeth and Banquo, Macbeth s friend and a sergeant in King Duncan s army, are hailed as heroes in helping to defeat Macdonwald who led the allied forces of Norway and Ireland against Scotland. The Sergeant exalts Macbeth s prowess and states, For brave Macbeth well he deserves that name Disdaining fortune, with his brandish d steel, Which smoked with bloody execution, Like valour s minion carved out his passage Till he faced the slave; Which ne er shook hands, nor bade farewell to him, Till he unseam d him from the nave to the chaps, And fix d his head upon our battlements. Even though there have been movements taken to combat stereotyping and discrimination such as the Civil Rights Movement, the Women s Rights movement, and the Black Lives Matter Movement, it still exists. This raises the question of, how do we end it? While there is no definite answer there is a way to avoid stereotyping and discrimination. A prime example is the way immigrants change their name to an Americanized version to fit in better. When immigrants come to America they come for new opportunities and to make a better life for themselves. According to an article from the New York Times, adopting names that sounded more American might help immigrants speed assimilation, avoid detection, deter discrimination or just be better for the businesses they hoped to start in their new homeland (Roberts). Changing identity has always been part of the culture in the United States, sometimes it is for a good reason and sometimes it is for a bad reason. Many times people change because they are persecuted for who they are. Another example of someone being discriminated against happened during World War I when a Brooklyn judge refused the application of a Weitz to become a Weeks. There is no good reason why persons of German extraction should be permitted to conceal the fact by adopting through the aid of the court names of American or English origin, the judge ruled (Roberts). Dental Implants Argumentative Essay Losing one or more teeth due to an accident or oral health issue can be challenging, so asking your dentist about a dental implant is essential for restoring your smile back to a healthy, appealing state. Unfortunately, most patients are not familiar with the fabrication, installation, and overall look and feel of implants, so it is important to ask questions when consulting your dentist. Here are a few things you should ask to ensure proper understanding before getting your implants. Am I a Good Candidate for Implant Dentistry? One common myth associated with dental implants is that you will have a complete set of beautiful teeth after one appointment with your dentist. Unfortunately, multiple appointments are needed to ensure the implants are appealing and natural looking, custom fitted, and secure. After your dentist determines you are a good candidate for the implants, you will need to schedule two procedures. During this first procedure, your dentist will make a small incision in the gums where the implant will be placed. A hole is made using a dental grade drill and the titanium implant rod is inserted into the hole. The incision is then stitched up. The second procedure occurs after the gum tissue heals, which can be between 3 to 6 weeks. The implant is exposed by making a new incision. Then, your dentist will screw a cap onto the implant. Once the cap heals the gum tissue, your dentist will place the crown, or artificial tooth, onto the top of the implant. Are Implants Permanent? To be an effective leader you need to know how to find that fine line between leadership and followership and be able to take the right initiative and precautions to advancing to the leadership role. As a leader you develop the ability to set yourself aside from the rest of the world in a way without your followers being left out as Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803 1882) said, Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. Living with integrity, leading by example, building a great management team and inspiring employees or soldiers to greatness are some of the key points in being an effective leader. Most great leaders are passionate about what they do; they have the ability to communicate to diverse audiences. Leaders should focus on the people, inspire trust, and have their eyes set on the horizon. Many people confuse management and leadership. Peter F. Drucker said, Management is doing things right; leadership is doing the right things. Being able to see the difference between being a manager and a leader is also a good leadership trait. Is vision a good trait for an effective leader to obtain? The answer is yes. Vision not in the sense of someone s eyesight but in the sense of how they view things is very important when it comes to the effectiveness of a good leader. Vision in the mental aspect helps the ... Rather than showing the town s lack of seriousness in a negative way, Hurston depicts the town as full of laughter, love, and lighthearted games. The characters of Ed Dockery, Bootyny, and Sop de Bottom live in the Everglades with Janie and Tea Cake and are a central part of the community. Even though the Everglades town is stereotypically black, Hurston presents this town and its blackness in a positive light. In addition, Janie is accepted quickly by the town; she can listen and laugh and even talk some if she wanted to and can tell big stories herself from listening to the rest (134). In Eatonville, whose African American residents act less stereotypically black and pretentiously try to emulate white people, Janie is unable to assimilate in such a community. However, the more stereotypically black town in the Everglades is much more accepting towards Janie. By presenting the culture of the Everglades in a favorable way from Janie s point of view, Hurston shows pride for conventional black culture. The town in the Everglades is also illustrated as lively and jubilant; specifically, nights in the town have pianos living three lifetimes in one , blues made and used right on the spot , dancing, fighting, singing, crying, laughing, winning and losing love every hour . • 22. The Anunciation And Expulsion From Paradise Summary Giovani di Paolo s The Annunciation and Expulsion from Paradise is currently in the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC. According to the panel next to the artwork, the piece was finished in 1435 CE and made of tempera on panel. This Sienese altarpiece from the start of the Italian Renaissance shows the experimentation of form at that time. Giovanni di Paolo uses golden texture to display divinity, line to illustrate architectural perspective, and a strategic use of scale throughout the composition in order to portray the importance of the religious context. The golden foil that compliments tempera works at the time draws your eye to specific points in the piece. Drawing your eye to the upper left corner, the golden material then aids the eye in traveling down towards the bottom right corner. Because the largest golden form is in the upper right corner, your sight starts there. This is where god is represented and the symbol for divinity starts. Divinity implied by golden nimbuses or halos continue throughout the piece around the head of divine figures. The only two figures on the left without nimbuses represent Adam and Eve who are no longer divine one kicked out of paradise. This relates to the second part of the title, Expulsion from Paradise. The churches are telling people they can heal, so they want to see it. The church has been telling them Christ is the answer to all their problems. In a practical way, do these people find the church a place of love and acceptances? Do they find an environment that demonstrates God s unconditional love and promotes personal healing? Too often, they do not. (p. 11) It is wise and mature leadership in the church that can see the issues and mentor these new believers to healing and wholeness before dumping them in needed service roles. Trying Too Hard The author believes that churches fail because they try too hard. We become so passionate and overzealous we take the fun out of being a Christian. Life is lived with a set of do s and don ts. Rules do not promote holiness and growth. Jesus rebuked the Pharisees for their adherence to rules, but denying the spirit of grace and mercy. We try hard to be righteous enough to bring healing to people, but that very effort works strongly to prevent the healing we strive so hard to promote. Ten years ago, Folger writes, David Deutsch, a physicist at Oxford University, argued that it may be possible to build an extremely powerful computer based on this peculiar reality. In our computers, circuit boards are designed so that a 1 or a 0 is represented by differing amounts of electricity, the outcome of one possibility has no effect on the other. However, a problem arises when quantum theories are introduced, the outcomes come from a single piece of hardware existing in two separate realities and these realties overlap one another affecting both outcomes at once. These problems can become one of the greatest strengths of the new computer however, if it is possible to program the outcomes in such a way so that undesirable effects cancel themselves out while the positive ones reinforce each other. This quantum system must be able to program the equation into it, verify its computation, and extract the results. Several possible systems have been looked at by researchers, one of which involves using electrons, atoms, or ions trapped inside of magnetic fields, intersecting lasers would then be used to excite the confined particles to the right wavelength and a second time to restore the particles to their ground state. A sequence of pulses could be used to array the particles into a pattern usable in our system of equations. Another possibility by Seth Lloyd of MIT proposed using organic metallic polymers (one dimensional molecules made of repeating atoms). The energy states of a given atom would be determined by its interaction with neighboring atoms in the chain. Laser pulses ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In what way does it differ from the Cambridge (UK) view of Keynesian economics? Intro The Neoclassical Keynesian synthesis contains theoretical principles and ideas from both the Neoclassical school of economic thought and Keynes General Theory. The UK Cambridge Post Keynesian view of economics also contains elements from both these schools, yet the Neoclassical Keynesian synthesis and the UK Cambridge Keynesian bodies of economic thought differ in their views, methods and ideas. The two schools utilise different models to reach the similar conclusion that the economy will tend towards full employment equilibrium in a long run situation a conclusion that complements a Neoclassical ideology or perspective of capitalism as a market based organisation of society s production, distribution and consumption. It can be argued, then, that although there are several examples of Neoclassical principles within the Neoclassical Keynesian synthesis, that the general acceptance of a general equilibrium situation in the long run is the defining Neoclassical feature. The paper will first examine the Neoclassical elements in the synthesis school of thought, with reference to its defining IS/LM model, the Phillips Curve and the Solow Swan Growth model. The UK Cambridge Keynesian school rejects Hicks and Hansens IS/LM model, and instead utilises proportionately more Keynesian ideas in its body of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Yet with new technology comes new laws; for example, in the United States, the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act was passed on May 21st 2008[1]. As the name implies, this law prohibits employers and health insurance companies from using genetic information, protecting citizens from discrimination based on their predisposition to developing a genetic disorder.
