Live Production Portfolio
Main area of activity:
The medium I will be working in will be live video production.
Rationale:
I have progressed a lot over the two years of this course. I have learned lots of new skills,
developed my organisational and planning skills and learned how to use lots of professional
equipment. I can confidently work with Blackmagic cinema cameras, Vision mixers and other
professional equipment. At the start of the course, I was only using an amateur DSLR camera. I
knew the fundamentals of video production, but I was still an amateur. Now I have the confidence
to use and run a professional setup. I will use the skills I have acquired over the past two years in
my FMP project. I will be using a multicamera setup run by an Blackmagic Atem mini–Pro Vision
mixer setup. I will then run a live production recording off the vision mixer and outputting a live feed
as well. These skills will make a positive impact on my production overall as it will be more
professional and will test my skillset.
Project Concept:
The concept for my project is to create a live production portfolio of all the live interactive work I
have done. This will include multicamera setups, vision mixing, camera operating and editing. The
live projects will mostly be for bands and live music. I have enjoyed the previous projects that I
have done with music and how they have come out, so I want to do more live performances like
this. In the future I want to work in video and video production, specifically live production. This
project is a good combination of all my skills and can help me to learn more about the industry for
the future. I will be researching different relevant practitioners. I will be researching the way the
practitioners’ techniques and how they do it. I will also look at what effect this gives the audience
and why they have done it. Another thing I will look at is the way the practitioners handle the
logistical side of the company. For example, how they deal with the clients to how they plan and
execute the product. Researching these things will help me to professionally make a good project.
I will be able to professionally plan the project and have all my pre-production to a successful
standard and then have a professional shoot and postproduction to a high standard.
How will the project be evaluated and reviewed:
I will be using doing two things to review and evaluate my work. I will be using ongoing evaluation
through the project and a final evaluation. The ongoing evaluation is my progress and thoughts
throughout the making of my project. I will be discussing what I did, why I did it, did it work and
what I would change. I will be tracking this progress with a weekly reflective journal that will track
my progress throughout the course of the FMP. The other type of evaluation will be final
evaluation. I will conduct this at the end of the project. I will discuss the project, talking in detail
about Initial ideas, pre-production, and production. I will discuss, how well each stage went, what
problems I had, and I solved them. I will also evaluate on what I would change and what I would do
next time. This process will help develop my practises in the future as I will be able to critique my
work and learn from mistakes I have made and how to act on them and make them better next
time.

How will the project be evaluated and reviewed: I will be using doing two things to review and evaluate my work. I will be using ongoing evaluation through the project and a final evaluation. The ongoing evaluation is my progress and thoughts throughout the making of my project. I will be discussing what I did, why I did it, did it work and what I would change. I will be tracking this progress with a weekly reflective journal that will track my progress throughout the course of the FMP. The other type of evaluation will be final evaluation. I will conduct this at the end of the project. I will discuss the project, talking in detail about Initial ideas, pre-production, and production. I will discuss, how well each stage went, what problems I had, and I solved them. I will also evaluate on what I would change and what I would do next time. This process will help develop my practises in the future as I will be able to critique my work and learn from mistakes I have made and how to act on them and make them better next time.
