Case Study of Ikea
Case Study of IKEA s Global Sourcing Challenge In 1995, IKEA met a problem that its main supplier,
Indian rugs, used the child labor to produce products, although they had signed an attachment of the
contract to ban employing child labor. In addition, a German documentary maker was about to
broadcast the problem of child labor on German television and also invited an employee from IKEA to
have a live discussion in the TV program. Marianne Barner, the leader of IKEA, must find a great
solution to this serious issue to both save her business and the corporation s brand image. In this issue,
IKEA was not the one who produced products, so they might not realize the use of child labor in the
process of production. In addition, child labor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, customers will trust IKEA s products because the label can indicate products are produced
without child labor. However, working with the third party is also of some risk. For instance, if IKEA
allows Rugmark to monitor the process of production, they will learn about some internal information
about IKEA, such as the way to manage suppliers. The foundation has members such as
manufacturers and retails. If they know this kind of internal information, they might utilize it. To be
worse, if this information is leaked to IKEA s competitors, IKEA will be uncompetitive. Another
disadvantage is that if the third party asks IKEA to pay for supervision, it might be costly. Another
way is to stop the relationship with these suppliers which use child labor and find some other partners.
In this method, it can help IKEA get rid of the blame for using child labor. When IKEA does not sell
the products which are produced by child labor, the issue will not hurt IKEA any more. But it is also
of high risk. Child labor is a social issue embedded in Indian culture. If IKEA would like to find some
suppliers without using child labor, it is almost impossible for IKEA to find suppliers in India. As a
result, IKEA must target at other countries such as China or Vietnam which might have cheap labor
force. However, searching for suppliers is very time consuming. In addition, if the labor force in other
countries is not as cheap as that in India, the

The History Of Nanocomposites During World War II
The History of Nanocomposites Before the use of nanocomposites, humans have used natural
composites to improve their welfare and way of life throughout history. The Mesopotamians would
use natural adhesive to glue wood pieces in different ways to make plywood. Archaeologists have
found multiple natural composites used by ancient civilizations, but one of the most prevalent was the
use of straw. Utilizing straw allowed these civilizations to increase the strength of their building
bricks, thus making there shelters stronger. This is how natural composites were first used by early
humans. In the 1930s, numerous synthetic composite technological breakthroughs were born. In 1935,
Owens Corning launched the fiber reinforce polymer (FRP) industry by introducing the first fiber
glass. In 1936, unsaturated polyester resins were patented. Because of their curing properties, they
would become the dominant choice for resins in manufacturing today. In 1938, other higher
performance resin systems like epoxies also became available. (Cite) The creation of FRP was vital to
the military during World War II due to its notably high to strength to weight ratio. Not only was FRP
used for electronic housings and other electronic components, but was also used to create the first
fiberglass reinforced boat hull. The war efforts spawned copious amounts of commercial products
made with FRP. This is how synthetic and natural composites were revolutionized during the 20th
century. A

How many awards have you won? In my story The Marble Champ by Gary Soto the main character
Lupe, has won many awards for school and academics, but never for anything athletic. In this story
readers can learn that Lupe is very determined, some reasons to help prove my statement is correct
are, Lupe has won many awards for academics, she is not athletic, and she trains very hard to win at
marbles. One reason to prove my statement Lupe is very determined is, Lupe has won many awards
for academics. A piece of evidence to support that is, Lupe won the school s spelling bee, and she won
the reading contest at her public library 3 summers in a row. This shows that she is serious about
winning. Another piece of evidence to support my reason is she was the blue ribbon awardee in the
science fair, and the top student at her piano recital. This shows that most of the awards she won are
for academics, not athleticism. My last piece of evidence to support my reason is, she is the
playground champ in chess, she was a straight A student, and not counting when she got stung by a
wasp she has never missed a day of school. This shows that she is pretty smart, Lupe once got

matter how hard she tried she could not run as fast as the other girls. This shows that she wants to be

yard dash. This shows that she is a little slower than everyone else. My last piece of evidence to
support my reason is she once kicked the ball at her own goal and scored a point for the other team.
This shows that she doesn t have much knowledge on sports. That is some evidence to support the

National Identification Card Won’t Work Essay
National Identification Card Won t Work
The debate on National Identification card has restarted since the terrorists attacked the World Trade
Center and the Pentagon on September 11, 2001. The issue of introducing the National Identification
Card came into people s view after a long time hoping that it would reduce the danger of terrorism in
the future. United States is not the only one country who is introducing the National Identification
Card. There are other hundreds of countries that have already had National Identification Card in use
in order to improve security in the country, assist law enforcement and make a delivery of services
more efficiently to all the citizens of the nation. People think that introducing the National ID ... Show

Introduced new license could alert the authorities about each and every action of the suspected
terrorist.
But the National Identification card will have some biometrics data like finger print, retinal Scan, iris
scanning which people thinks that it would be hard to forge. Using biometrics data such as fingerprints
and retina scan can help in verifying that the card actually belongs to the cardholder (Clement). More
likely people are thinking about introducing the smart card which when swiped will show all the
information like where you are and what you are doing while smart cards are among the most secure
technologies available.
National ID card could combine the functions of a driver s license, social security registration,
immigration documents, and other government issued identification so that it would be easier to carry
just one card instead of all these form of identification. Once the card is issued then every individual is
required to carry and present an officially issued ID card when asked, and it would also be required to
get particular services. If the card cannot be presented on demand then that person would be regarded
with suspension. If the person who forgot or lost the card falls under the minority group then the
person becomes a suspect and might get some kind of charges or might even go to jail.
National security is good but not at the cost of personal freedom (Dye). Demanding ID card at any
time will be considered as the freedom

High-Stakes Testing in American Schools Essay
The NCLB Act has obligated the government to find a way to keep track of progress, which, in their
minds, is administering high stakes tests. High stakes testing is scrutinized all the time, since some
believe it is the only indicator of tracking students and teachers. They seemed to have been ridiculed
by many and favored by few; nonetheless there are significant disparities in the public s and
government s opinion. According to Dunne (2000), Tests aren t just tests anymore at least not high
stakes tests, which are being used in some states to determine which students stay back a grade, which
high school seniors receive diplomas, which teachers get bonuses, and more. The National Education
Association (NEA) does not believe one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The inequitable consequences that teachers and administrators would have to bare are uncalled for.
These exams generate pessimistic attitudes that become contagious and infect the educational
environment. Extensive research shows that students who are held back do not progress academically,
suffer a loss of self esteem, and are more likely to drop out of school, according to FairTest (2008).
Each year more and more states are requiring exit exams in order to receive a diploma. These forms of
high stakes tests seem to be more idealistic for schools across the U.S. as they begin to adopt and
modify them. Exit exams have brought about many lawsuits throughout the country though, since they
deny students who fail a high school diploma. Many say that the exams are not impartial and that they
discriminate against English language learners, minority students, special education students, and
economically disadvantaged students. All in all the exit exams do serve a more meaningful purpose
than other forms of high stakes tests.
According to Urbina (2010), exit exams have facilitated for educators to locate deficiencies in their
curricula and brought about clearer guidelines. Also, they invigorate students to share the
responsibility of their academic achievement, since students become more serious about them.
Politicians want to abolish the stigma a high school diploma currently carries and win back

Mid-Life Crisis Narrative
I watched another man having a mid life crisis, pull out of the Novak car dealership across the street in
a silver convertible. My uncle ran that dealership. I scanned my dad s car lot; the cars were much older
with red numbers written on the windshields, and they were Hondas rather than BMWs. Dad was
having an intense phone call in the dimly lit back office. From where I sat at the desk, I could hear
snippets of the conversation that filtered through the gap through the door.
How long... here? Dad said.
I had no homework, so I swiveled around on my chair, and watched my dad bite his nails as he talked.
No ... get the money... just... Dad caught my eye, and gave me a look that made me turn around again.

Uncle James gave a sharp nod, and pulled an office chair over. Mum this looks amazing.

I grabbed a sandwich and started to eat.

Is it going to cost me money? Uncle James asked.
No. I don t need your help.
Well don t send a bill to me later. I won t pay it this time, Uncle James said.
I m fine. This deal is foolproof, Dad said, wiping his fingers on his jeans.

Essay Health Economics
Cost benefit, cost effectiveness and cost utility analyses are forms of economic evaluation which are
useful in health economics for comparing costs and allocating resources. Health economics is widely
relevant to governments and the health sector in implementation of new policy, as it concerns the
allocation of resources in the context of a limited budget, or scarcity . Economic evaluation is a
potential tool for setting priorities in health, though it is only one of many potential criteria, including
overall budget and public attitudes and wants. Economic evaluation is already in use in some settings,
such as in pharmaceutical company proposals for government subsidisation, but there is room for
expansion across the field of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Changing factors such as aging populations and new technologies becoming available are increasing
expectations from people throughout the world, and decision makers must make rational choices to
maximise benefits to population health whilst working with limited resources. Yothasamut et al (2009)
summarise this by observing that health care resources in every setting are always constrained, while
unlimited demand is observed . The best choices in the context of economics are the ones which
maximise utility (individual satisfaction through consumption of goods) and welfare, the sum utility
experienced by all individuals in society. Decision makers often have to seek satisfactory rather than
optimal solutions, also known as working with bounded rationality (Simon 1957 in Williams et al
2008), as it is important to pursue both efficiency and equity in the funding of health care. Therefore,
it may be unsuitable to fund the most cost effective option if it sacrifices the equal distribution of
benefits. Research in health economics can take a normative or positive approach and this reflects the
balance needed between cost control and equity when making economic decisions. Positive economic
research and analysis is concerned with how things are and seeks to explain economic phenomena,
whilst normative economic research and analysis is concerned with how things ought to be and relies

Red Brigades
Terrorism refers to an act of violence that is designed to course tension or terror within a country s
structural organization. There are various types of terrorist organizations; this includes state terrorism,
religious or political terrorism, socialists or communists and the pre modern terrorist groups. The
members of these terrorist groups are brought together by a common shared factor which includes
marginalization isolation and discrimination by the state, community and families (Jerrold, 2008).

This led to the global economic downfall of the country since it scared away various potential
investors since the group openly opposed the government and foreign labor. It further limited the
social interaction of the country s population due to its constant attempt to destabilize the democratic
government of Italy. Similar the increased tension and terror activities displayed by the group further
threaten the country s growth and development since it was against the country s government
structural organization and foreign labor as well as policies. The tension posed by the group further
fostered the unequal distribution of goods and services to various parts of the country. One of the key
strengths of the Red Brigades of Italy is that it was formed by young intellectual university students
within the country s various industrial cities. Through this, the organization was able to effectively
exercise its ideological competence in engaging the law enforcement agencies seeking to arrest them.
Being a paramilitary organization, the Red Brigade of Italy was able to effectively understand the

Charlotte Bronte Life Rhyme Scheme
In the alternate rhyme scheme found in Life by Charlotte Bronte, the speaker is able to creatively use
metaphors, a depressive and happy tone, as well as symbolism to express their view about life by
saying that life is has a balance of both grief and happiness. The use of an ABAB rhyme scheme can
be seen through the three stanzas in order to change the tone in the poem. The first stanza begins by
comparing the challenges that we face in life to clouds of gloom from lines 3 8. The speaker develops
this comparison through the stanza and says if the shower will make the roses bloom meaning that
humans, represented as roses, flourish after enduring times of despair.
This depressive tone soon changes in the second stanza when the speaker uses

He is obviously opposed to all the reforms, particularly those of Kang Youwei (ćș·æœ‰äžș), ironic detail:
initiator of the reform program called Hundred Days (戊戌 ć˜æł•) in June / September 1898, Kang was
indeed for a time, a symbol of the will to reform Confucianism from the inside, and therefore a thorn
in the foot of conservative scholars such as the Lu s uncle; but Lu Xun mocks, Lu uncle, he said, was

The Fourth Uncle the Lu s is not however only a show disciple of Zhu Xi; far from him the humanist
ideal of Confucianism, he is in fact a defender of superstitions, especially those concerning widows:
he does not want to accept the sister Xianglin because she could bring bad luck to the family.

Idealized Influence defined by the values, morals, and ethical principles of a leader and is manifest

The Merchant Of Venice, Antony And Cleopatra, And Dr Faustus
Whilst the writer s selection of place bears great significance throughout many eras, the Renaissance
period is particularly fascinating in relation to setting. These playwrights were living through an
extraordinary and unprecedented flowering of drama and, consequentially, were afforded opportunities
that would have been unimaginable even a century before. The flourishing of drama necessitated the
creation of playhouses, in which setting could be conveyed more accurately and elaborately than in
the millennia that preceded. The combination of the uninhibited creativity associated with the
Renaissance and the realisation of the new possibilities of the commercial stage facilitated an
extremely nuanced and complex exploration of setting and place; providing us with some of the most
memorable and meaningful settings ever featured in literature. Setting provides a unique opportunity,
if chosen astutely, for the playwright to communicate narrative, and shape character, without having to
explicitly or linguistically express it. I intend to focus The Merchant of Venice, Antony and Cleopatra,
and Dr Faustus in order to display how setting directly affects the plot and often aids in forging our
understanding of identities within the play. Through consideration of the implications and ideals
attached to the settings presented throughout the texts, we can more accurately infer the sentiments of
the writer and understand the ways in which place gives impetus to plot.

The Pros And Cons Of Virtual Communities
The internet and generally the web, have an increased interest in studying communities. It seems that
it is important how they act, what is their purpose and how companies can take benefit of them.
Software companies have tried to create groups of users which have been tested with new programs
and experimentations. These experimentations have led to the creation of online or virtual
communities in the early years of the internet. Online communities have been characterized in the first
place as spontaneous events that provided community members with knowledge, opinions and
experiences with other users. The increase in computers and the access to the internet have led to the
creation of the first formats of communities that were news groups, chat rooms, newsletters and multi
user domains. The feeling of belonging made communities to work like social entities that unite users
that were looking for support and to exchange information. Dholakia, Bagozzi, and Pearo (2004)
recognized some of the main features of virtual communities. The human desire for connection has
created online or virtual communities. There is a main difference from physical communities in that in

No, the title isn t a typo. Trump s campaign has for some time now not been about Trump. Also, it

musing over Trump s intentions, frequent flip flops, or popularity. Neither will it turn ad hominem.
No, in the following few paragraphs I focus on two worrying affects the Trump campaign already has
on political discourse in the USA. First, Trump functions as a mediator and enabler. Yes, Trump is a
popular, even mythical creature akin to other American celebrities who have K s in their first or last

business ideas and asking for loans on twitter is harmless enough. What worries me about Trump is
the hidden people he s legitimizing, enabling, and sometimes, encouraging to violence. Say, for
argument s sake, Trump becomes president. Can we imagine what his rowdy allies will do when they
realise it is not within his power to enact his promises? Even if such a horrifying near future does not

Both artists took inspiration from the CĂ©zanne s painting The Large Bathers and made paintings of
their own from the ideas CĂ©zanne started.
The Large Bathers show us a scene of women bathing in a river. The colors we see are mostly blue
with some browns and greens mixed in. It s thought that this painting was unfinished as CĂ©zanne died
in 1906, and you can see some of the figures in the bottom right seem incomplete. Matisse took the
idea of bathing women but added his own signature color schemes. In Bonheur de Vivre he used
bright primary colors to pull focus to the figures, while CĂ©zanne used perspective to bring focus.

Les Demoiselles d Avignon was painted in 1907 and translates to The Young Ladies of Avignon, a
brothel. He returned to CĂ©zanne s color palette with browns and blues to tone down the joy that is in
Matisse s painting. And he made the women the main focus by closing them in by the world around
them. While Matisse used open space, Picasso made the background come to the foreground with no
perspective being used at all, this makes the painting look flat and the ladies become the focus. The
figures are also very angular and do not show off a sensual human body like Matisse does. The figures
on the right have very odd looking faces, which Picasso was pulling from African art. (Harris Zucker,
n.d.) So Picasso was incorporating even more influences into a reaction of other paintings. Matisse
and Picasso were both pushing each other into new territory in the art world.(Harris Zucker, n.d. 2) By
trying to upstage each other the art became more and more different than the accepted art at the

Foucault s Herculine Barbin
Science, the one enterprise that is always relied upon and deemed as the credible source of
information that makes sense of some of society s most probing questions. Society allows science to
define one s identity by categorizing individuals into one of two sexess: male or female, based on a
socially agreed upon biological criteria whether it be one s genetic make up before birth and/or genital
organs at birth.
In his introduction of Herculine Barbin, Foucault questions the necessity of a true sex, a concept, if we
may, that has been embedded into a systematic structure of acceptance of modern Western societies
that limits, what Foucault calls, free choice. Through his examination of Alexina s memoirs, the author

As the film reaches its climax, Brandon s gender is first questioned when he is arrested and his
government name Teena, is written on official documents. Soon after, he is confronted by Tom, John
and Lana s family over the same matter. At first, there is blatant denial that Teena is actually his first
name and that he is, indeed, a man. When he realizes that they are not going to budge, he settles for
labeling himself as a hermaphrodite (scene from Boys Don t Cry). In Brandon s case, it means that he
was born with both sexes; he would rather lie about having two sexes, therefore still defending his
manhood, than accepting a sex that 1) he does not identify with and 2) is imposed on him by society.
For some time, Brandon was living in a somewhat happy limbo in the non identity (Foucault 1980, 6)
that is described in Alexina s memoirs, though not to the extent of non identity Alexina experienced in
his/her early life. One can assume that he is in such a happy limbo by the way the character is
portrayed in the film. It seems as if Brandon, though he identifies as male, is still in touch with his
feminine side. This feminine side, we must point out, is a clear construction of hegemonic
masculinity; because Brandon is sensitive, caring, and gentle, he is displaying feminine

A Changing Lifestyle
At the age of thirty, I am still trying to find my place in the world. I have moved in and out of my

independence is often a long and difficult struggle. At the age of nineteen, I moved out of my parents

the walls, I see that it had two windows and carpet that felt soft on my feet. I had an old neighbor that
lived next door to me to whom I started to become friends. His named was Joe and we would always
set around talk and have strawberry cheesecake. Ponderosa Steak House was where I was working
when I lived on my own. I worked there four years both baker and cook person. Unfortunately, not
everything went smoothly. Before long, my roommates and I were partying too much. My friends that

As a nursing professional, several aspects of knowledge are involved in the application of care. The
fundamental pattern of nursing knowledge starts with science or empirical evidences governed by
factual and explicit information and acceptable knowledge, such as the procedures and guidelines of
nursing practice. It is derived from scientific methodology that supports the intellectual explanation of
health and illness phenomena and the processes involve in the cycle of human life. (Carper, 1978).

Allied Strategic Bombing Analysis
Strategic bombing is a military strategy used in total war, deployed with the goal of defeating the
enemy, by destroying their morale or their economic ability to produce and transport material to the
theatres of military operations. The four areas in which the significance of Allied strategic bombing
will be assessed are: economic, diplomacy, morale and the effect it had on the fighting fronts in
Europe.
The First area of strategic bombing to be assessed is the effect it had on scattering the German military
from their posted Fronts and the destruction of the Luftwaffe. The bombing raids on Germany drew
defenses that were positioned on the Eastern Front and in other areas to try and counter the incoming
Allie aircraft. German anti tank defenses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was only due to the collaboration between the British, the Russians and US; the third Front could be
created. The third front tightened the relationship between the Allie countries and from then was able
to work together in attempts to defeat the Nazis regime. Strategic bombing was only instigated
because Churchill, who was already a major supporter of bombing, and Roosevelt did not want to re
create the horrors from bombing civilians in the form of terror bombing from World War two. As well
Stalin wanted a third front to keep pressured, menacing attacks on Germany, so a new front enabled a
workload shift from the Russians to the rest of the Allies air force. The Casablanca conference, 21
January 1943 was a turning point in the effectiveness of allied bombing against Germany. At
Casablanca, Churchill and Roosevelt agreed to give the heaviest bombing offensive against the
German war machine. The combined leaders issued an order to the air forces to bring about the
destruction and dislocation of the German Military, industrial and economic system and the
undermining of the morale. This was done by the technique called Unconditional Surrender. This
means that the winner of the war is eligible to control the enemies land and borders, and the defeated
is given nothing. Diplomacy was the factor that controlled the bombing raids through the war. This
increased the significance of bombing for

Abortion Is A Fetus A Living Human
Is a developing fetus a living human? Is a fetus not considered a human until the second trimester?
Does poverty, rape and disability justify an abortion? Is the abortion dilemma truly black and white?
Abortion is one of the most common medical procedures performed in the United States each year.
Nearly one in four of all pregnancies end in abortion equalling 42% of all yearly deaths around the
world. For pro life supporters, they say that life begins at conception; the instant when a sperm cell
unites with a egg cell. For pro choice supporters, they say at birth, a baby is a living human. At
conception, they know it is something but they don t consider it a human life. Since 1973, the number
of abortions has spiked drastically from over 700,000 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Others will object and say it is just a fetus. Millions of babies each year, die without even being born
because of abortion. How should society respond to the huge increase in the amount of abortions over
the past few years? Society needs to make a big change and make abortions illegal. People think it is
acceptable to kill someone who doesn t even have a say yet. People think it is acceptable to put their
rights before two other individuals. Why though? Why take what seems like the easy way out all the
time? Society is showing people that it is okay to kill unborn fetuses. Society certainly needs an
effective way of preventing abortions. But in the end, the fact that abortion has been legalized in
America since 1973, shows that right now our problem is only going to get bigger and we need to do

This helps the computer to produce motion for each object in a frame by frame sequence. The final

Immanuel Kant s Justification For The Existence Of God
It it only by one s belief in God that they could establish a justification for trusting their senses, and
furthermore for believing that our world is one of governed by certain laws established by God that
will cause it to act in a predictable manner. Yet, these are the very elements that need to be in place for
obtaining certainty about our world when using empiricism. Therefore, Locke s epistemology does not
hold up against the continuation of his own idea of empiricism; naturally it only lead to Hume, the

The two primary objections that we will view are related to his methodology of doubt and his proof of
God. Thomas Hobbes objected to Descartes methodology of doubt by claiming he was leading people
into doubt. Furthermore it has been objected that it would not be possible to truly doubt in the manner
that Descartes is claiming to doubt, and that some things simply cannot be doubted. These are minor
objections; first, Descartes is not leading people into doubt, but into his methodology of doubt. He is
not attempting to cultivate true skepticism in his readers, but is rather attempting to establish what
could potentially be doubted to confirm what is necessarily true. It is also true that it would not be
possible to truly doubt as Descartes is; he is well aware of this and uses doubt merely as a tool. Lastly,
it is true that some things cannot be doubted, and Descartes is using his methodology of doubt in
pursuit of that which cannot be

How Did Bob Dylan Live 1966
handclapped during his performances. The tour became a confrontation between Dylan and his
audience, especially during one of his concerts at the Manchester Free Trade Hall in England on May
17, 1966. A recording of this concert was released in 1998: The Bootleg Series Vol. 4: Bob Dylan Live
1966. Near the end of the concert, and during the the climax of the evening, a member of the audience,
who was apparently angered by Dylan s electric backing, shouted directly to Bob: Judas! to which
Dylan quickly responded, I don t believe you ... You re a liar! Dylan turned to his band and screamed,
Play it fucking loud! as they exploded into the final song of the night, Like a Rolling Stone . During
this tour, Dylan was described as exhausted and acting as if on a death trip . The film maker D. A.
Pennebaker who was accompanying the tour, described Dylan as taking a lot of amphetamine and who
knows what else. In an 1969 interview, Dylan said, I was on the road for almost five years. It wore me
down. I was on drugs, a lot of things ... just to keep going, you know? . ... Show more content on

All though the extent of his injuries was never disclosed, Dylan said that he broke several vertebrae in
his neck. Mystery still surrounds the circumstances of the accident since no ambulance was called to
the scene and Dylan was not hospitalized. Dylan s biographers have written that the crash offered
Dylan the chance to escape the pressures around him. Dylan confirmed this interpretation in his
autobiography: I had been in a motorcycle accident and I d been hurt, but I recovered. Truth was that I
wanted to get out of the rat race. Dylan withdrew from public and his musical performances, and apart
from a few appearances, did not tour again for almost eight

Persuasive Essay On Charter Schools
President Trump s choice for Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos, was confirmed on February 7th,
2017, and her support for charter schools has become a priority in the administration. CNN reports
that DeVos has been a strong advocate in the past for school choice, lobbying for charter schools in
her home state of Michigan years prior to her confirmation. President Trump stated his education plan
would put forth billions of dollars into school choice programs across the United States. Charter
schools are publicly funded and independently run, in some cases operated by for profit and often do
not hire unionized teachers a distinction that has put them at odds with teacher unions (Grinberg
2017). DeVos labels charter schools as an extension of public education, while critics of school choice
point to both the unchecked power of charter school administrators, and the poor test scores of the
students in Michigan charter schools the schools DeVos lobbied for in the past. School choice
supporters anticipate the new administration to allocate both state and federal money for vouchers that
can be used for a variety of schools including completely private, religious, and home schooling.
However controversial, charter schools are experiencing a growth in popularity in locations such as
Washington D.C., Arizona, Colorado, and Florida. The shift from public schools to charter schools
could dramatically increase given the influx of potentially $20 billion into school choice

Wonderland Insane
In Lewis Carroll s story Alice s Adventures in Wonderland, the character Alice stumbles upon a world
called Wonderland upon her curiosity. As she makes her trip around Wonderland, she goes on a
journey to find herself because she is not sure who she is after entering the world, and she is not sure
how she fits in this new world or her old one. While she is figuring out her own place in Wonderland s
society, she meets a series of characters who interact and attempt to change her perspective on life. By
using Alice and these characters, Carroll offers readers his own critique on the way society functions
and how it is structured. Although all of Carroll s characters are considered insane, they all have
different perspectives on how the world ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alice and the the other creatures within the world of Wonderland mimic the ideas of society and their
many flaws. Carroll uses many scenes within his story to provide roles for each and every character,
so they could personify characters in the real world. In many instances Alice attempts to understand
these individuals living within the world they call Wonderland. But like any other, Alice finds the
differences between them to be too great and rejects them just like how people in the real world reject
the ideas of others based on how they were raised. Alice even though she is a fresh young mind, she
still already has nurtured ideals within her and it prevents her from learning from these character s
flaws. If Alice could understand that these flaws were a projection of the issues in today s world, she
could understand how Carroll s characters are a perfect representation of today s

The Lesson Of The Moth Literary Analysis
Poets and Authors use main characters and genres to build a central message of their literary work.
Sometimes different genres can be used to build the same theme. In the lesson of the moth by the poet
Don Marquis, there is a common theme throughout the whole poem, what is it like to have something
worth dying for. He uses a moth, the protagonist, to express the theme. In a similar way, Daniel Keyes,
author of Flowers for Algernon , a short story, uses Charlie Gordon, an intellectually challenged man,
who wants to be smart, to gradually build upon the theme of having a dream worth dying for. Both the
poet and the author convey a central message through a protagonist in their work. In the lesson of the
moth a poem by Don Marquis there is a theme introduced in the poem. Directly from the poem, the
moth, voiced that some things are worth dying for and that risk should ... Show more content on

The Role Of Grania By Lady Gregory
The role of the theatre during the Irish Literary Revival was central to Irish cultural nationalism and
the political dynamics at the start of the 20th century. As a playwright and a co founder of the Abbey
Theatre, Lady Gregory created the backbone of the group that drove the Irish cultural identity towards
a more nationalist outlook. Yet as an Irish nationalist, her participation in political causes was often
muted; not because of her political views, but because of her gender. Though Lady Gregory played a
large part in the literary revival during the Irish nationalist movement, she was wary of rekindling a
past that was built upon the oppression of women. This essay will discuss the influence Gregory s
early life on her works, the portrayal of women by other prominent male playwrights at the time, her
depiction of women in her plays, and the characterization of the female character Grania. Using the
play Grania, Lady Gregory explores possibilities for Irish women to defy gender ... Show more

Gregory s dramatic interpretation of Grania becomes rather more sympathetic and offers justification
for her heroine s actions. According to author Maria Elena Doyle in the article A Spindle for the
Battle: Feminism, Myth, and the Woman Nation in Irish Revival Drama., Ultimately what Grania
wants is social recognition, an acknowledgment that she matters to the world around her as a living
individual rather than as an object of memory. (Doyle 40) As a consequence, Grania s mental strength
leads to her rejection of the patriarchal values within the community. She becomes more than a
symbol for men to interpret, but a ...social being defined by her own actions and interactions. (Doyle
39). By presenting a woman s decision to make her own path, Gregory alters the female standards of
the Revival in a way that does little to support nationalist

Problems with Lego
Situation Analysis: * The construction toy market is worth $600 million * Lego is a $1.6 billion
business in the construction toy market spread across 130 countries * Lego enjoys 80% of market
share in the North American market * Lego is as an esteem brand and is looked upon not only as a toy
company but also a company with toys that develop learning and new skills * Due to competitors like
Mega Bloks Inc., Hasbro etc. Lego started losing market share * Some of the major reasons for the
shift in loyalties were: * Mega Bloks products were lower priced than Lego * Mega Bloks introduced
larger brick sizes and hence were preferred for preschoolers * The bricks created by Mega Bloks could

increase market size * Targeting new segments will help understand the other market segments better
which would help the firm with better experience in the future in case they tend to market newer
products. * Targeting audience in different areas will help the business grow geographically and thus
make the brand name expand
Disadvantages
* The cost of expanding to newer geographies could be more than the investment * Targeting different
segments could mean create different positioning strategies for each segment. This could lead to
confused positioning among the customers * Creating more lines and products would increase the
complexity, with great number of SKU s the managing of the SKU s could be an even greater problem
C. Undertaking Brand promotion strategies
Lego should try to promote the brand more aggressively to coax the customer preferences towards
Lego toys.
Some of the Brand promotion strategies adopted could be as follows: * Open a chain of their own
Lego stores with play areas * Try to organise Lego construction competitions
Advantages
* This would help the loyalists bond with the brand in a better manner * It would help Lego brand to
be spread extensively * It would help understand the customer

Bdsm Norms
BDSM gatherings serve to connect like minded individuals for play parties, or more casual meet ups,
referred to as munches. There is a vast difference between the two, and expectations and standards for
behavior vary for play parties much more than at munches. Those wondering where to find BDSM
events often find information specific to their area by doing an online search for local BDSM parties
or consulting FetLife online to browse calendars. FetLife is also a great connection for BDSM singles
ads and an online social connection for both veterans and BDSM beginners. As with any interest, the

Those who are well versed in BDSM, but not at the play party level, must remember that some rules
limit Dom/sub interaction in the areas of fire play, piercing and blood play. ## BDSM Play Party
Etiquette Believing that all parties are enhanced by an *anything goes* attitude is completely false.
Everything taking place is agreed upon, and safe words are utilized to ensure boundaries are not
crossed. All parties adhere to a strict set of rules, and rules do differ, but there are a few commonalities
among most: **No Drugs** Drug use is strictly prohibited under all circumstances, and if you find
yourself at a party openly permitting the use of any recreational drug, you must ask yourself if this is a
trustworthy environment. For consent to take place, all parties must be completely coherent.
**No/Limited Alcohol** Select hosts allow moderate drinking, but drinking in excess is one of the
surest ways to find oneself uninvited in the future. This goes back to consent and how a clear head is
required to fully consent to any

Pompeii Research Paper
Every day natural causes contribute to the slow demise of Pompeii. For example, seasonal temperature
fluctuations damage ruins and artifacts, sunlight bleaches wall frescos, and torrential rains potentially
flood and collapse buildings. The interiors of buildings are vulnerable to dampness, especially the
walls and floors that house ancient artifacts, frescoes, and mosaics. Besides the effects of weathering,
inadequate excavation, restoration and conservation practices have contributed to the slow demise of
Pompeii (Amery 8). This paper examines the history of inappropriate excavation practices at the
historic site of Pompeii, which has brought further dilapidation of the city over the centuries. The

The newly rediscovered city of Pompeii received significant attention during this era, as people
became interested to see the works of art displayed at the site. For the first time in 1764, Pompeii
received worldwide media attention from the discovery of the Temple of Isis, which attracted droves
of visitors to Naples. In 1771 visitors to the area increased, especially after the discovery of Via delle
Tombe, which contained the encased bodies of 18 women and children huddled on the temple s porch
(Amery 37). After 1860, significant work continued and the city was divided into nine topographical
regions so buildings could be identified and located on maps for easy access. To date, out of the 165
acres, two thirds of the area (110 acres) has been unearthed. The southwestern part of the city contains
the forum; it is the oldest part of the city that dates back to 6th century BC (World Heritage

  • 4. Case Study of Ikea Case Study of IKEA s Global Sourcing Challenge In 1995, IKEA met a problem that its main supplier, Indian rugs, used the child labor to produce products, although they had signed an attachment of the contract to ban employing child labor. In addition, a German documentary maker was about to broadcast the problem of child labor on German television and also invited an employee from IKEA to have a live discussion in the TV program. Marianne Barner, the leader of IKEA, must find a great solution to this serious issue to both save her business and the corporation s brand image. In this issue, IKEA was not the one who produced products, so they might not realize the use of child labor in the process of production. In addition, child labor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moreover, customers will trust IKEA s products because the label can indicate products are produced without child labor. However, working with the third party is also of some risk. For instance, if IKEA allows Rugmark to monitor the process of production, they will learn about some internal information about IKEA, such as the way to manage suppliers. The foundation has members such as manufacturers and retails. If they know this kind of internal information, they might utilize it. To be worse, if this information is leaked to IKEA s competitors, IKEA will be uncompetitive. Another disadvantage is that if the third party asks IKEA to pay for supervision, it might be costly. Another way is to stop the relationship with these suppliers which use child labor and find some other partners. In this method, it can help IKEA get rid of the blame for using child labor. When IKEA does not sell the products which are produced by child labor, the issue will not hurt IKEA any more. But it is also of high risk. Child labor is a social issue embedded in Indian culture. If IKEA would like to find some suppliers without using child labor, it is almost impossible for IKEA to find suppliers in India. As a result, IKEA must target at other countries such as China or Vietnam which might have cheap labor force. However, searching for suppliers is very time consuming. In addition, if the labor force in other countries is not as cheap as that in India, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The History Of Nanocomposites During World War II The History of Nanocomposites Before the use of nanocomposites, humans have used natural composites to improve their welfare and way of life throughout history. The Mesopotamians would use natural adhesive to glue wood pieces in different ways to make plywood. Archaeologists have found multiple natural composites used by ancient civilizations, but one of the most prevalent was the use of straw. Utilizing straw allowed these civilizations to increase the strength of their building bricks, thus making there shelters stronger. This is how natural composites were first used by early humans. In the 1930s, numerous synthetic composite technological breakthroughs were born. In 1935, Owens Corning launched the fiber reinforce polymer (FRP) industry by introducing the first fiber glass. In 1936, unsaturated polyester resins were patented. Because of their curing properties, they would become the dominant choice for resins in manufacturing today. In 1938, other higher performance resin systems like epoxies also became available. (Cite) The creation of FRP was vital to the military during World War II due to its notably high to strength to weight ratio. Not only was FRP used for electronic housings and other electronic components, but was also used to create the first fiberglass reinforced boat hull. The war efforts spawned copious amounts of commercial products made with FRP. This is how synthetic and natural composites were revolutionized during the 20th century. A ... In my story The Marble Champ by Gary Soto the main character Lupe, has won many awards for school and academics, but never for anything athletic. In this story readers can learn that Lupe is very determined, some reasons to help prove my statement is correct are, Lupe has won many awards for academics, she is not athletic, and she trains very hard to win at marbles. One reason to prove my statement Lupe is very determined is, Lupe has won many awards for academics. A piece of evidence to support that is, Lupe won the school s spelling bee, and she won the reading contest at her public library 3 summers in a row. This shows that she is serious about winning. Another piece of evidence to support my reason is she was the blue ribbon awardee in the science fair, and the top student at her piano recital. This shows that most of the awards she won are for academics, not athleticism. My last piece of evidence to support my reason is, she is the playground champ in chess, she was a straight A student, and not counting when she got stung by a wasp she has never missed a day of school. National Identification Card Won’t Work Essay National Identification Card Won t Work The debate on National Identification card has restarted since the terrorists attacked the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on September 11, 2001. The issue of introducing the National Identification Card came into people s view after a long time hoping that it would reduce the danger of terrorism in the future. United States is not the only one country who is introducing the National Identification Card. But the National Identification card will have some biometrics data like finger print, retinal Scan, iris scanning which people thinks that it would be hard to forge. More likely people are thinking about introducing the smart card which when swiped will show all the information like where you are and what you are doing while smart cards are among the most secure technologies available. National ID card could combine the functions of a driver s license, social security registration, immigration documents, and other government issued identification so that it would be easier to carry just one card instead of all these form of identification. Once the card is issued then every individual is required to carry and present an officially issued ID card when asked, and it would also be required to get particular services. If the card cannot be presented on demand then that person would be regarded with suspension. If the person who forgot or lost the card falls under the minority group then the person becomes a suspect and might get some kind of charges or might even go to jail. • 8. High-Stakes Testing in American Schools Essay The NCLB Act has obligated the government to find a way to keep track of progress, which, in their minds, is administering high stakes tests. High stakes testing is scrutinized all the time, since some believe it is the only indicator of tracking students and teachers. They seemed to have been ridiculed by many and favored by few; nonetheless there are significant disparities in the public s and government s opinion. According to Dunne (2000), Tests aren t just tests anymore at least not high stakes tests, which are being used in some states to determine which students stay back a grade, which high school seniors receive diplomas, which teachers get bonuses, and more. The National Education Association (NEA) does not believe one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The inequitable consequences that teachers and administrators would have to bare are uncalled for. These exams generate pessimistic attitudes that become contagious and infect the educational environment. Extensive research shows that students who are held back do not progress academically, suffer a loss of self esteem, and are more likely to drop out of school, according to FairTest (2008). Each year more and more states are requiring exit exams in order to receive a diploma. These forms of high stakes tests seem to be more idealistic for schools across the U.S. as they begin to adopt and modify them. Exit exams have brought about many lawsuits throughout the country though, since they deny students who fail a high school diploma. Many say that the exams are not impartial and that they discriminate against English language learners, minority students, special education students, and economically disadvantaged students. All in all the exit exams do serve a more meaningful purpose than other forms of high stakes tests. According to Urbina (2010), exit exams have facilitated for educators to locate deficiencies in their curricula and brought about clearer guidelines. Also, they invigorate students to share the responsibility of their academic achievement, since students become more serious about them. Politicians want to abolish the stigma a high school diploma currently carries and win back ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Essay Health Economics Cost benefit, cost effectiveness and cost utility analyses are forms of economic evaluation which are useful in health economics for comparing costs and allocating resources. Health economics is widely relevant to governments and the health sector in implementation of new policy, as it concerns the allocation of resources in the context of a limited budget, or scarcity . Economic evaluation is a potential tool for setting priorities in health, though it is only one of many potential criteria, including overall budget and public attitudes and wants. Economic evaluation is already in use in some settings, such as in pharmaceutical company proposals for government subsidisation, but there is room for expansion across the field of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Changing factors such as aging populations and new technologies becoming available are increasing expectations from people throughout the world, and decision makers must make rational choices to maximise benefits to population health whilst working with limited resources. Yothasamut et al (2009) summarise this by observing that health care resources in every setting are always constrained, while unlimited demand is observed . The best choices in the context of economics are the ones which maximise utility (individual satisfaction through consumption of goods) and welfare, the sum utility experienced by all individuals in society. Decision makers often have to seek satisfactory rather than optimal solutions, also known as working with bounded rationality (Simon 1957 in Williams et al 2008), as it is important to pursue both efficiency and equity in the funding of health care. Therefore, it may be unsuitable to fund the most cost effective option if it sacrifices the equal distribution of benefits. Research in health economics can take a normative or positive approach and this reflects the balance needed between cost control and equity when making economic decisions. Positive economic research and analysis is concerned with how things are and seeks to explain economic phenomena, whilst normative economic research and analysis is concerned with how things ought to be and relies on value ... Charlotte Bronte Life Rhyme Scheme In the alternate rhyme scheme found in Life by Charlotte Bronte, the speaker is able to creatively use metaphors, a depressive and happy tone, as well as symbolism to express their view about life by saying that life is has a balance of both grief and happiness. The use of an ABAB rhyme scheme can be seen through the three stanzas in order to change the tone in the poem. The first stanza begins by comparing the challenges that we face in life to clouds of gloom from lines 3 8. The speaker develops this comparison through the stanza and says if the shower will make the roses bloom meaning that humans, represented as roses, flourish after enduring times of despair. • 17. The Merchant Of Venice, Antony And Cleopatra, And Dr Faustus Whilst the writer s selection of place bears great significance throughout many eras, the Renaissance period is particularly fascinating in relation to setting. These playwrights were living through an extraordinary and unprecedented flowering of drama and, consequentially, were afforded opportunities that would have been unimaginable even a century before. The flourishing of drama necessitated the creation of playhouses, in which setting could be conveyed more accurately and elaborately than in the millennia that preceded. The combination of the uninhibited creativity associated with the Renaissance and the realisation of the new possibilities of the commercial stage facilitated an extremely nuanced and complex exploration of setting and place; providing us with some of the most memorable and meaningful settings ever featured in literature. Setting provides a unique opportunity, if chosen astutely, for the playwright to communicate narrative, and shape character, without having to explicitly or linguistically express it. I intend to focus The Merchant of Venice, Antony and Cleopatra, and Dr Faustus in order to display how setting directly affects the plot and often aids in forging our understanding of identities within the play. Through consideration of the implications and ideals attached to the settings presented throughout the texts, we can more accurately infer the sentiments of the writer and understand the ways in which place gives impetus to plot. It seems that it is important how they act, what is their purpose and how companies can take benefit of them. Software companies have tried to create groups of users which have been tested with new programs and experimentations. These experimentations have led to the creation of online or virtual communities in the early years of the internet. Online communities have been characterized in the first place as spontaneous events that provided community members with knowledge, opinions and experiences with other users. The increase in computers and the access to the internet have led to the creation of the first formats of communities that were news groups, chat rooms, newsletters and multi user domains. The feeling of belonging made communities to work like social entities that unite users that were looking for support and to exchange information. Dholakia, Bagozzi, and Pearo (2004) recognized some of the main features of virtual communities. The human desire for connection has created online or virtual communities. This quick note on Trump s campaign will not follow the usual musing over Trump s intentions, frequent flip flops, or popularity. Neither will it turn ad hominem. No, in the following few paragraphs I focus on two worrying affects the Trump campaign already has on political discourse in the USA. First, Trump functions as a mediator and enabler. Yes, Trump is a popular, even mythical creature akin to other American celebrities who have K s in their first or last names. Such celebrities enable people to enliven their most gullible selves. Celebrities posting their business ideas and asking for loans on twitter is harmless enough. What worries me about Trump is the hidden people he s legitimizing, enabling, and sometimes, encouraging to violence. Say, for argument s sake, Trump becomes president. Both Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso said he was The father to us all .(Paul CĂ©zanne, 2016) Both artists took inspiration from the CĂ©zanne s painting The Large Bathers and made paintings of their own from the ideas CĂ©zanne started. The Large Bathers show us a scene of women bathing in a river. The colors we see are mostly blue with some browns and greens mixed in. It s thought that this painting was unfinished as CĂ©zanne died in 1906, and you can see some of the figures in the bottom right seem incomplete. Society allows science to define one s identity by categorizing individuals into one of two sexess: male or female, based on a socially agreed upon biological criteria whether it be one s genetic make up before birth and/or genital organs at birth. In his introduction of Herculine Barbin, Foucault questions the necessity of a true sex, a concept, if we may, that has been embedded into a systematic structure of acceptance of modern Western societies that limits, what Foucault calls, free choice. When he realizes that they are not going to budge, he settles for labeling himself as a hermaphrodite (scene from Boys Don t Cry). In Brandon s case, it means that he was born with both sexes; he would rather lie about having two sexes, therefore still defending his manhood, than accepting a sex that 1) he does not identify with and 2) is imposed on him by society. For some time, Brandon was living in a somewhat happy limbo in the non identity (Foucault 1980, 6) that is described in Alexina s memoirs, though not to the extent of non identity Alexina experienced in his/her early life. One can assume that he is in such a happy limbo by the way the character is portrayed in the film. It seems as if Brandon, though he identifies as male, is still in touch with his feminine side. Strategic bombing was only instigated because Churchill, who was already a major supporter of bombing, and Roosevelt did not want to re create the horrors from bombing civilians in the form of terror bombing from World War two. As well Stalin wanted a third front to keep pressured, menacing attacks on Germany, so a new front enabled a workload shift from the Russians to the rest of the Allies air force. The Casablanca conference, 21 January 1943 was a turning point in the effectiveness of allied bombing against Germany. At Casablanca, Churchill and Roosevelt agreed to give the heaviest bombing offensive against the German war machine. This was done by the technique called Unconditional Surrender. This means that the winner of the war is eligible to control the enemies land and borders, and the defeated is given nothing. Is the abortion dilemma truly black and white? Abortion is one of the most common medical procedures performed in the United States each year. Nearly one in four of all pregnancies end in abortion equalling 42% of all yearly deaths around the world. For pro life supporters, they say that life begins at conception; the instant when a sperm cell unites with a egg cell. For pro choice supporters, they say at birth, a baby is a living human. How should society respond to the huge increase in the amount of abortions over the past few years? Society needs to make a big change and make abortions illegal. People think it is acceptable to kill someone who doesn t even have a say yet. People think it is acceptable to put their rights before two other individuals. Why though? Why take what seems like the easy way out all the time? Society is showing people that it is okay to kill unborn fetuses. Society certainly needs an effective way of preventing abortions. The Role Of Grania By Lady Gregory The role of the theatre during the Irish Literary Revival was central to Irish cultural nationalism and the political dynamics at the start of the 20th century. As a playwright and a co founder of the Abbey Theatre, Lady Gregory created the backbone of the group that drove the Irish cultural identity towards a more nationalist outlook. Yet as an Irish nationalist, her participation in political causes was often muted; not because of her political views, but because of her gender. Though Lady Gregory played a large part in the literary revival during the Irish nationalist movement, she was wary of rekindling a past that was built upon the oppression of women. This essay will discuss the influence Gregory s early life on her works, the portrayal of women by other prominent male playwrights at the time, her depiction of women in her plays, and the characterization of the female character Grania.
