Weapons In The Elizabethan Era
The latest weaponry
Did you know that in the Elizabethan era, weapons were one of the reason of fashion? In our
modern world today, you won t see anyone walking or strolling in public with a 72 inch rapier
and with a 6 12 inch dagger. Well back in the Elizabethan era and in Shakespeare time that was
one of the fashion that either knights have or rich kids had. In the Elizabethan era the fashion for
the knights are to decorate their rapiers to show their towns people they have money and they
have a lot of respect. Should we be allowed to carry a weapon such as a firearm, knife, or a dagger?
In my opinion I feel like we should carry a firearm but of course the people that do get one has to
have a permit. Such as in Texas and in Colorado they are allowed to carry a firearm. So why can t
we have rights to carry a firearm? Like in the play Romeo and Juliet, Romeo and his friends are

Their army was not in good condition they were far beyond even bad, they barely had a standing
army. The reason for this situation is because they used the weapons as decoration for the
parades and other ceremonies. They didn t take the army seriously. So then the citizens had
weapons and fighting skills in case if a war broke out. As in the play Romeo and Juliet it shown
when they start to battle or duel and you can see their training kick in. the most trained people in
the village was the nobles or the rich kids because they were force to take those training. They
had good training and the other people that didn t had money they either learn by themselves or
they have tutors but without a lot of experience. They didn t had only one type of style of
fighting or sword fighting they had hundreds of fighting styles. Their sword (rapier) are really
heavy they can weigh up to 10 15 pounds. And they are really deadly they are always sharpened
because they lose their sharpness when they

Drug Hormones Have On Animals Essay
Effects Drug Hormones Have on Animals
The smell of pork chops or hamburger on the grill tends to make people s mouth water. Did you
know that farmers feed animals drug hormones? Farmers feed animals drug hormones that effect
their growth and get into the meat source? People will look at food labels and sees the FDA
stamp. As customers we tend to think that if the FDA approves the meatthen we can eat the product
safely. However, many drug hormones have not only effected animals growth but also may cause
harm to customers.
Farmer try to ensure the best quality meat. Then why every thirty days are farmers injecting our
animals with drugs that could kill them or even possibly get into their meat. Researchers were
finding that ractopamine could cause animals to become sick, unhealthy or possibly could even die
(Minton). Farmers were using the drug ractopamine for animals to help animals grow faster. If
animals gain weight faster, when they go to slaughter they tend to make more money for the
farmers. Growth promotion is one of the main reason why farmers give them hormone drugs.
According to Dan Charles farmers tend too feed animals to many antibiotics, so they will later
become immune to the antibiotic. Results from research have showed that ... Show more content on

academic performance. Bibb County District is considered a poor county as it ranks 40th in the
nation in child welfare. It is mentioned that education and the ability to earn a stable income will
always be connected together, (Purser, 2015). The allocated funds should be distributed to helping
the students who need the extra tutoring or help in specific areas in all schools. The statistics of

Essay about Character Analysis of The Handmaid s Tale
Character Analysis of The Handmaid s Tale
Moira =====
We first meet Moira breezing into (P65) Offred s room at college. She is the breath of fresh air.
As Offred says, She always made me laugh (P66). One of her roles is to bring humour to the
reader, to lighten the situation and contrast with the horror of the Gileadean regime. An example
of this is when Moira changes the hymn There is a Balm in Gilead to There is a Bomb in Gilead
(P230). Margaret Atwood uses imagery to illustrate the role of Moira s humour in giving hope to
the handmaidens. She describes Moira as a giggle; she was the lava beneath the crust of daily life
for the handmaidens in the Red Centre (P143). I think ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Margaret Atwood describes her after her escape as being to the other handmaidens like an
elevator with open sides (P143). In this simile I believe she is showing that Moira is able to take
risks. She doesn t need the security that the others need, she is frightening to them, as she doesn t
have the same fears.
Another example of Moira s character that shows her nonconformist nature, is in that she made a
political decision to become a lesbian. She didn t realise that she was gay, she d decided to
prefer women (P180). I think the role of Moira s sexuality is to contrast the choice she had made
before the regime took over, with the Gileadean laws which prevent women from having any
choice of partner or any decision in the process of finding a partner, as The marriages are of course
arranged (P231).
Moira not only decided to become a lesbian, but also decided to be sterilised many years before
the regime took over. It is her determination to survive which is displayed when she is sent to the
Red Centre to become a handmaiden. Knowing that it is impossible for her to become pregnant
and will be sent to the colonies after attempts at pregnancy with three couples, Moira admits, I d
already had my tubes tied, years ago (P261). I believe that the role of Moira s infertility is to show
the flaws in the Gileadean regime. Many of the records at the

Fannie Flagg s Fried Green Tomatoes At The Whistle Stop Cafe
In the novel Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe, the author Fannie Flagg uses food
as a symbol for friendship and love. The cafe itself, run by Ruth and Idgie, serves as a way for
them to connect to people, be it family, friend, or total stranger through the food that they make
and serve with love (Dvorak 99). Idgie and Ruth allow anyone who s hungry to come into their
cafe to eat, even if they re colored or homeless. They understand that foodis for everyone and make
a point to share with those in need. Then there is the infamous bandit Railroad Bill , who gives
food away to the poor and homeless during the Depression, saving hundreds of lives in the process

Biography of Jim Morrison
Jim Morrison remains one of the most popular and influential singers and writers in rock history;
they became famous on the classic rock radio stations. To this day, he is widely regarded as the
prototypical rock star: sexy, scandalous, and mysterious. Morrison s performances have influenced
many, including Richard Ashcroft, Nick Cave, Patti Smith, Glenn Danzig, Ian Curtis, David
Gahan, Henry Rollins, Ian Astbury, Perry Farrell, Scott Weiland, Trent Reznor, Eddie Vedder, Jude
Rawlins, Ville Valo, Sully Erna, The Blood, Siouxsie Sioux, and Jeff Martin. There were many
great rock and roll artists out their like Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Janice Joplin, Keith Richards.
But there was something different about Jim Morrison; his poetry was astonishing along with his
music lyrics. Morrison was that guy that would push things to the limit, just to see what would
happen. Some people saw their behavior as the defiant, even revolutionary acts of a brilliant artist.
Other people saw them to be rude, drunken and obnoxious behavior. Ladies and Gentlemen; The

Job Enrichment Essay
Job Enrichment in the Nursing Profession
Employee motivation and job satisfaction are intertwined in ways that have implications for
organizational performance. Motivation has been explained as a goal oriented behaviour involving
a course of action leading to the attaining of a reward (Armstrong, 2006) and as the energy that
compels individuals to act persistently toward some goal (Berman, Bowman, West Wart, 2010).
Within the framework of the present study, the consideration of satisfaction and motivationtogether
lead to the concept of job enrichment initiatives for impacting employees experiences of job
satisfaction such that their experience and performance are improved.
The concept of job enrichment emerges from Herzberg s theory, as employees higher order needs
should be the focus of organizational leaders interested in improving motivation. These include
giving employees more control, responsibility, and permission to use their own discretion in order
to get good results (Raza and Nawaz, 2011; Uduji, 2013). When this method is being applied,
employees are more often entrusted with responsibility, given opportunities to experience a sense of
achievement, opportunities for growth, appropriate recognition, a higher level of professional
autonomy, more importance, more control, and the ability to influence the work place
circumstances and practices (Yasdani, Yaghoubi, Giri, 2011). These characteristics suggest a very
specific characteristic of human nature

Justice In Twelve Angry Men, By Reginald Rose
]In this trial, there are twelve angry men. These men are the jurors deciding a 19 year old s fate
of life or death. So in the drama Twelve Angry Men by Reginald Rose s shows justice through
motif, dialogue, and imagery. The first way Reginald Rose shows justice is with a couple motifs.
Like when the jurors do the first vote guilty, guilty, guilty, not guilty. (26 Rose) This shows justice
on how everyone thought the boy was mainly guilty in the start cause it s 11 1 guilty. Next, when
the jurors decide to do another vote in the middle of the trial and they said guilty, not guilty, guilty,
guilty, not guilty, not guilty, guilty, not guilty, not guilty, guilty, not guilty, guilty. (45 46 Rose)
This is starting to show how that one juror that voted not guilty in the beginning vote is starting to
change justice by changing the other juror s mind because it s 6 6 even on the vote. Then kinda
near the last vote there not guilty, nine, all those voting guilty, three (59 Rose). This shows how
now everyone has mostly changed and the boy will most likely be free. These motifs show how an

Like when the jurors are talking and say In what way was it obvious? I mean that nobody proved
otherwise. (18 Rose) Juror eight is talking to juror two talking about if there sure the boy is
actually guilty. Next, the jurors argue about He didn t have any ticket stub. Who keeps a ticket
stub at the movies? (18 Rose) Now they re arguing if he really went to the movies to see if he is
really guilty or not. Next, when they talk about the knife they said Where did you get it? I got it
in a little junk shop around the corner from the boy s house. It cost two dollars. (24 Roses) This
shows where all the jurors are arguing of the boy really used that knife to kill the father or the bot
really dropped the knife out of his pocket. This shows how dialogue can show communication
which can prove proof and justice

Summary Of The Scarlet Ibis By James Hurst
Storms and Sorrow
It s strange that all this is still so clear to me, now that summer has long since fled and time has
had its way, ( Hurst 595). James Hurst s short story The Scarlet Ibis is full of symbolism. The use
of symbolism does a great deal to add to the tone of the story by allowing large concepts to be
depicted simply and subtlety, such as the characters emotions and the misfortune that befalls
Doodle. The symbols that James Hurst uses range from the colors of the settings the characters are
in to the scarlet ibis from which the book draws its name, with many others in between. By far the
most important symbol Hurst uses is the ibis, because not only does it foreshadow the death of
Doodle and his determination to survive, but shows that both it and Doodle were thrust into worlds
where they were incapable to live and thrive. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The bird not only dies from circumstances similar to those of Doodles but also in appearance,

stained clothing at his time of death. The deaths of both Doodle and the ibis are both related to
storms giving even more evidence to the claim that the ibis and Doodle meet their and in similar

Social work educators must also, at all times, provide leadership and be mentors for their
students. Field of Practice Social work evolved in the United States during the time of the
Industrial Revolution when people started moving into urban areas and social issues such as
poverty, prostitution and child labor became problematic. Social work was initially done
through missionaries and charities; however, formalized education came into being in 1898.
According to the Counsel of Social Work Education (CSWE), The Summer School of
Philanthropy was founded in 1898 by the Charity Organization Society of New York and was
soon followed by additional training schools for social workers in Boston, Chicago, St. Louis,
and Philadelphia. In 1919 the Association of Training Schools for Professional Social Workers
was established, (CSWE, 2014). The AASSW established formal accrediting procedures in 1932,

Charles Darwin
Charles Darwin being known as one of the most controversial scientist in history, developed a
theory that has changed the way the whole world sees itself and will see itself for generations to
come. Charles has had some amazing achievements in his life and many contributions to the
scientific study of life. While Journeying around the world, he studied many different species
which led him to develop the theory of evolution which is theorized by millions of people today.
Just seeing someone like Charles Darwin change the worldview of millions of people can show
how just a theory like evolution could change the world forever.

sad that Charles Darwin did not become a Christian later in his life because the Bible says that

sad. Charles theory of evolution could be one of the most influential theories of all time. Darwin s
theory said that animals evolve into different animals that are related somehow to the ancestor
species. This theory will always be in the picture in science studies and in the minds of scientists
today and for many generations. Charles Darwin has changed more minds with his theory than any
other theory and sadly more people will come to believe this false

The Effects Of Harsh Coaching Of Young Athletes Essay
Harsh coaching of young athletes can often steer kids away from sports all together, but if the
coaches get it right, the kids learn important skills for their futures. At a young age, children need
discipline in order to put them in the right direction for their futures. This discipline is found in
numerous forms, and one of the most common forms is through sports. David Brooks said, The
best coaches still live by a code, and they make no apology for demanding that kids live up to it.
(Brooks) Though strict coachingcan turn some young children and their parents away from sports,
it can give kids a good role model, teach them discipline, and help them learn to get along with
other people. Parents often have concerns for how coaches treat their young athletes, but most
coaches are the best character role models that a child will have. As David Brooks, author of the
article Organized Sports Can Benefit Children , says Coaches have become the leading moral
instructors in America today. (Brooks). Groups like The Positive Coaching Alliance exist solely

Richard Branson Leadership
Richard Branson
Richard Branson was born in England in 1950. Since a little kid, he was encouraged to be
independent accomplishing challenges set by his mother at short age. Branson saw this as
opportunities to overcome weaknesses and conquer a small part of the world . He was not a good
student, for he was struggling at school due to dyslexia, and ended up dropping from school at age
of 16. It was the beginning of an entrepreneurial career. At that time he founded a Magazine called
Student with great success. Then he diversified to mail order record business. He founded Virgin

Richard Branson promotes inside his company open communication between employees, managers
and himself. Anyone in the company knows they can call him to share with him innovative ideas or
suggestions.
Inside the company communications are promoted between the different areas. At the time when
the company is developing a new project they promote a team of different departments working
together to have the better outcome of the project. As the company involves employees in product
development, the result will be not only in a better product design, but also it adds impetus of an
immense pride of association factor: We came up with this as a team. Everyone wins, including
customers and shareholders.
Position as Manager in Virgin
As a manager I prefer flat structures where employees have a sense of ownership and freedom to
be creative, express ideas and be proactive. Some characteristic of Richard Branson s leadership
style I admire is the open communication between the employees and the directives, the
possibility to work as a team with employees from other departments to solve problems and
improve products and the possibility to allow workers to share their visions to develop
innovations. For a manager to be able to fit under this type of leadership, he or she has to be
flexible and willing

Austranese And Japanese Cultural Differences
This essay aims to provide more information in regards to the differences between the Australian
and Japanese cultures, as well as fundamental insights into Japanese business etiquette and highlight
important steps for effective communication when making business in a foreign country. As the
Australian entrepreneur and owner of The Aromatic Condiment Shop Emily is looking to expand
her business deals in Japan it is paramount to make a favourable first impression and understand key
points to better navigate cultural differences and grow her business.
Cultural differences according to Adler involves the integrated and maintained system of socially
acquired values, beliefs, and rules of conduct which impact the range of accepted behaviors
distinguishable from one societal group to another . (Adler, N. J. (1997). International dimensions
of organizational behavior (3rd ed.). Cincinnati, OH: Shout Western College Publishing)
Cross cultural communication involves an understanding of how people from different cultures
speak, communicate, and perceive the world around them. This type of communication has become
fundamental to companies as well as entrepreneurs looking to grow their business, in addition to
being fundamental as the workplace has become more diverse. In this line is important to highligh
the concept of high and low context culture.
According to Edward T. Hall: A high context (HC) communication or message is one in which most

Tolstoy The Death Of Ivan
The Death of Ivan is an interesting read about how perspective can change, specifically death.
Tolstoy. the author, uses this short story to display how death can portray a piece of freedom.
This is one of Tolstoy s first stories, this is a succesful story in the fact that he experienced some
personal spiritual awareness before writing it. He really uses this story to bring his personal

Texas Teacher Evaluation And Support System
T TESS
Since 1997, the primary tool for teacher evaluation was the Professional Development and
Appraisal System better known as PDAS. Due to significant efforts to enhance both teacher
effectiveness and student learning and growth, the Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System
(T TESS) was elaborated (TEA, 2016, p. 3). The T TESS was designed by educators to support
continuous improvement by focusing on feedback and support, moving the mindset away from
compliance (TEA, 2016, p. 3).

First of all, continual feedback allows teachers to self reflect on best practices. For example, a
teacher can target his/her areas of weakness in order to grow professionally and gain further insight
of best practices. Another benefit, of teacher evaluations is higher student success rates. These, for
example, are measurable through district assessments and state standardized assessments. If a
teachers success rate has significantly improved through modification of practices, T TESS has
served its intended purpose. Finally, yet another benefit of teacher evaluations is the fact that the
educator is an active participant in his/her evaluation process. For example, through goal setting, the
educator is allowed the opportunity to decide where he/she want to grow. Through the evaluation
cycle and the communication therein, the appraiser and educator both take greater responsibility in
understanding and meeting established goals. Finally, at the end of the process, student growth is
an indicator of a well developed and integrated evaluation system. These are but a few of the many
benefits reaped from an evaluation systems such as T TESS (TEA,

Inclusion In Australia
Just like any individuals in our society, the needs of students with a disability also differ. As a
future educator and specifically a physical education teacher, I believe inclusion is at the utmost
importance within a school setting in both theory and practical lessons. It is disheartening to know
that students in particular those with a disability are often excluded due to their needs and that a
number of teachers are not educated with the right skills in a way that they know how to plan their
lessons effectively enough that all students are able to participate and feel comfortable doing so.

I Love My Pet Animals
Sharing our lives, opening our hearts to pure unconditional love. They are the best friends that
we can ever have. They won rsquo;t let us down, they are always happy to see us, they don
rsquo;t judge us in any form, they don rsquo;t look at us with utter disdain if we put on weight.
They trust us implicitly, with a wag of a tail or the twitch of a whisker telling us that they
intuitively know how we feel. The look in their eyes says it all ndash; I love you.
Our companion animals, our pets. We, as humans think that we have chosen our pets, in many
situations it seems as if we have. However, many times on a higher level of awareness, they have
chosen us. How many times do you see people that look like their dogs or is it that their dogs look
like them! The feline fellowship and affinity that comes from the cats that slink into our lives helps

Essay on the Symbolism of the Menagerie in The Glass...
The Symbolism of the Menagerie in The Glass Menagerie
Tennessee Williams play, The Glass Menagerie, describes three separate characters, their dreams,
and the harsh realities they face in a modern world. The Glass Menagerie exposes the lost dreams
of a southern family and their desperate struggle to escape reality. Williams use of symbolsadds
depth to the play. The glass menagerie itself is a symbol Williams uses to represent the broken
lives of Amanda, Laura and Tom Wingfieldand their inability to live in the present.
The glass menagerie symbolizes Amanda Wingfield s overwhelming need to cling to her past and
her fulfilled fear of being alone. Amanda resents the poverty stricken neighborhood in which she
lives so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tom ends the argument by calling Amanda an ugly babbling old witch (Williams 1875), and
struggles to put his coat on, intent on leaving. When he cannot put the coat on properly, he
becomes frustrated with his clumsiness and flings it across the room, breaking some of the
glass collection. Laura cries out as if wounded (Williams 1875). This shows how fragile Laura
really is and how she reacts when even the small balance of her apartment is shifted. The most
prominent use of this symbol comes at the crisis of the story, when Jim is left alone with Laura.
The conversation turns to Laura s glass collection, when she remarks glass is something you
have to take good care of. (Williams 1900), again showing her fragility. More parallels are drawn
between Laura and the glass collection with the introduction of the unicorn. Jim says, Poor little
fellow, he must feel sort of lonesome (Williams 1902) to which Laura replies, He stays on a shelf
with some horses that don t have horns and all of them seem to get along nicely together
(Williams 1902). The unicorn becomes a symbol for Laura because just like the unicorn she is
different. When Jim and Laura dance, and Jim accidentally knocks the unicorn off the table and its
horn is broken off, it loses its uniqueness. Similarly, when Jim kisses Laura and then shatters her
hopes by telling

Analyzing Paul Walker s Obituary
My Obituary Analysis
When I think about the qualities of an effective obituary, three things come to mind. The obituary is
bound to be a factual notice of death that includes all the basics about the person: their birth date,
death date, home town, parents, children, and information about their career. This is the framework
that makes up an obituary and is the most significant portion of it. Secondly, it is imperative that
the obituary lists the person s major achievements in life. Lastly, the obituary should conform to
its audience. The families of the deceased benefit from a kind portrayal of their loved one with
highlights from their life. In contrast, a stranger reading it would be more entertained by the
obituary if it was blunt when talking about the person s life. Therefore, an obituary writer should
find a balance between discussing the person s successes and failures. Paul Walker s obituary is
effective because it is factual and portrays his accomplishments. ... Show more content on

Furthermore, the obituary discusses Walker s major achievements in his acting career. He

Tacitus s Influence On The Roman Empire
Tacitus talks about the influence of Agrippina the younger as a sign of weakness of the principate
representing Claudius and Nero as her pawn. Her position of power as a female to this day is
unmatched; known as the granddaughter, daughter, sister, wife, and mother of men. ( Tacitus)
Agrippina, an Imperial woman of the Julio Claudian bloodline a female Caesar lived through all
five of the Julio Claudian emperors Augustus, Tiberius, Caligula, Claudius, and Nero. Agrippina the
younger roles in the empire is recognized but is not credited for the influence she had in shaping
the Roman Empirefrom the time of Claudius to the beginning of Nero s reign. Tacitus is writing
is from the perspective of an old Roman Senator providing the accounts of Agrippina life in
power from a male point of view. His accounts of her life portray her as a vindictive, scandalous
female who has stepped above her station. (Tacitus) Suetonius another old Roman Senator
accounts would agree with Tacitus in regards to Agrippina s outrageous behavior. However, it can
be argued that she was an emperor while she is not given credit her influence played a huge part in
affecting the direction of the Empire and Roman society especially when it comes to women in a
position of power.

Claudian reign. Agrippina the younger bloodline is strong as a descendant of Augustus and
Agrippa; she s connected to all five emperors.

In the case of The Handsomest Drowned Man in the World, the characters are limited spiritually
initially but reach spiritual enlightenment throughout the progression of the villagers journey.
This is demonstrated by the women s realization that the body is beautiful in a way they have
never seen before, that body s physical abilities, the body s name and personality, and finally
enlightenment. The bound man in The Bound Man realizes that he has the ability to move,
which shows him that not all hope is lost... or that children (due to the lack of quality in the

but is unable to but, at the end of this first experience, he moves quite efficiently. He laid his
head back on the grass, rolled over, and struggled to his knees. He tested the ground with his toes,
and then managed to stand up almost without effort. (Aichinger 69). This experience describes the

The Classification Of Municipal Government
From this Chapter, I understand the classification of municipal government from small to big at
different scale and also what do the local governments do. The main role is the democratic and
service provision. when studying the relationship between these two aspects, some questions are
also proposed: is that only when you have property, can you really participate in the vote or
democracy? Does the local governmentresponsible to the province about the finances? Or should
it responsible to its people? Political part should not be taken away from the responsibility of a
local government otherwise it will be no difference with a private supplier.
Through reading the history of the local government, it is found that the municipal governments
were mainly established in response to the population growth and service demand. Property tax is
one of the approaches to increase the income of the government, but had been opposed by the
people since the beginning. The Ontario model sets up in 1849 had been referenced for other
provinces to establish their local governments. Reforms were also taken during the 20th century to
eliminate corruption and to improve efficiency. It seems that the problems we are facing today are
the same with what we were facing 100 years. Maybe it is an inherent problem of the government
and politics.
Comparing with today s municipalities, the foundations of Canada s municipal system were very
different 200 years ago. Due to the changes of the structure of

How Technology Has Changed Copyright
The Creative Commons by Lawrence Lessig discusses how freedom to create has drastically
changed ever since its origin. I think this was the most interesting article I have read about
copyright. Lessig discusses the era of creativity and freedom of using one s work to create and
imagine something completely knew. The author uses Walt Disney, Warner Brothers, and comics
examples to address his views regarding how the art of creativity and freedom has changed upon
the era of digital media. How technology has changed the freedom to created? One thing I was
surprised by was how many times the copyrightlaw has been altered. It used to be where copyright
material had limited time until it ended up in public domainfor others to uses. However, changes to
copyright lawthroughout the years has keep on increasing the year of ownership, which gives big
companies to monopolize. This lives no room for others to uses one s material. Automatically,
copyright law regulates essentially any creative work reduced to tangible form. (pp.6). Another
point I found interesting was how technology itself enforcing the copyright law, not the court. In
addition, technology enforcing the copyright law has its own copyright law. It is technology which

Raise The Driving Age To 18
Driving mishaps can happen to anyone, but they happen all too frequently to teenage drivers
because of their lacking significant experience behind the wheel...in recent years, safety experts,
elected officials, and public policy experts have focused on strengthening such state laws with the
goal of making the roads safer for teens. (Andrews, 2) New laws should be made to keep teens and
the road a safer place. The drivingage should be raised to 18 to reduce many dangers.
The first reason is so we can lower teen deaths. Just a few years ago 2,270 teens died from car
accidents, and 221,313 were sent into the emergency room. Not only that but teens were accounted
for 11% of the total cost for car accident injuries. This information supports the text because it

danger, once they are 18 drivers will be more responsible to stop. The human brain is fully matured

makes them safer. Also, studies have shown that it is impossible to truly multitask . This is
important because that means teens are taking most of their attention of the road and putting their
attention on the electronics. This is significant because now that teens have switched their attention
to other distraction, this dangers other drivers around them. Stopping the unhealthy multitasking
can make the road a more trustworthy place.
To conclude, raising the driving age will reduce many dangers in teen s life. This will lower teen
deaths, decrease obesity, and end certain road distractions. We need to let our legislators know that
you support the driving age being raised to 18. This law can safe generations to

Characteristics Of An Oligopoly
It s called an oligopoly. It s not a regular market... It s a market in which they control the prices and
they ve been doing it for years.
Richard Miller
The quote above explains the characteristics of an oligopoly in comparison to other market
structures. Miller suggests the nature of the market is uncommon and that prices are rigid.
The hypothesis mentioned in the introduction supports this assumption on the real estate market in
Hanoi. However, it can be questioned whether the real estate market is an oligopoly.
2.1Market structure
In economics, a market structure refers to the characteristics of a market that influence the behavior
of firms within an industry. These include number of firms, market power, level and forms of
competition, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In oligopoly, industries are dominated by a small number of large firms, though in any one
industry the firms are likely to vary in size. The concentration ratios of these firms tend to be fairly
high. This means that, for example, the largest four firms in the industry accounts for 70% of the
market share. The implication of this is that firms in oligopoly are interdependent. The actions of
one firm will directly affect the others. Each of the large firms in the industry has to try and predict
the actions of the others. They may collude to avoid this.
2.2.3High barriers to entry/exit
Barriers to entry are high. Oligopolies often maintain their position of dominance in a market
because other potential rivals are unable to enter the industry. The hurdles that prevent other firms
from entering the industry are called barriers to entry. These barriers could include government
licenses, economies of scale, patents and access to technology. In addition, many established
oligopolies spend enormous sums on product differentiation and advertising, making it difficult for
new firms to match such expenditures. High barriers to entry allow firms to make economic profits
in the long run.

What Is Ancient Greecenaean Culture

Greece is an important ancient civilization that is still alive today. Greece is an amazing country
with amazing culture . Greece has a rich and interesting history.
At various times in its history Greece included all of Epirus, Macedonia, and Thrace, part of Asia

from the Neolithic Age (c.4000 B.C.). By the Bronze Age (c.2800 B.C.) important cultures had

Tom Sawyer makes it hard for Huck to express what he thinks is right because Huck respects
Tom and his decisions. Colonel sherbern proclaims you re afraid to back down afraid you ll be
found out to be what you are cowards. (145) Around Tom, Huck seems to act like this, afraid to be
different. In chapter two Tom convinces Huck to join his gang with the intent to steal and Murder
who ever got in his way. Huck struggles with this because he does not know how to feel about
what they are doing but goes along with what Tom says anyway. Tom says to Huck Shucks, it
ain t no use to talk to you, Huck Finn. You don t see to know anythin, somehow perfect saphead.

Critical Analysis Of The Abolishment Of Budgeting
Critical Analysis of the Abolishment of Budgeting
Budgeting is a main instrument of management control for most organizations systems. Recently it
is a controversial phenomenon, the disappointment with budgeting is occurring. This is because
some people find that budgeting processes is time consuming and often lead to dysfunctional
behavior. Additionally, they make organization fail to be flexible in such an uncertain financial
environment. Many people think traditional budgeting systems should be abolished, but others
wish to improve them. Hope and Fraser (2003b) provide a few European companies that have
abolished traditional budgeting systems successfully. On the other hand, Eckholm and Wallin
(2000) observed approximately 61% of firms will improve the budgeting processes and continue to
use them as control purpose. This paper argues that whether budgeting should be abolished or not
mainly focus on three aspects, fixed performance contracts , time consuming and the changes of
budgeting in real life. Evidence is presented that as a control instrument although budgeting has
some shortcomings, it should not be abolished. Instead, those shortcomings could be addressed by
some improvement measures.
Fixed performance contracts
One criticism of Hope and Fraser is that budgets use a mechanism called fixed performance
contracts. They contend that when budget related elements have changed during budgeting period, a
fixed goal may stand a poor performance evaluation criterion.

The Importance Of Whaling
Aboriginal peoples have been whaling as a tradition for thousands of years with it being a
significant part of their culture. They have depended on whales for food, clothing and other
handicrafts. Whaling was key to survival and the Natives have honored the sacrifice of each whale
through spiritual rituals and ceremonies. It gives them a purpose and discipline which benefits their
whole community. This has not been a problem for many centuries, only recently have animal
activists been trying to stop the hunting of whales. The Makahpeople have been the main subjects to
the opposition of whalingon the basis that it is unnecessary for their culture or their survival. This
has been an ongoing issue since 1999, when they harvested their first whale in 70 years. The
violent backlash received has prevented them from gaining permission to hunt after that which led
to the illegal killing of a whale in 2007. To present day, the Makah has gotten many undeserved
death threats and bomb threats to schools. Many complaints have been made that the hunting
method differs from how it was done traditionally so the hunting cannot be considered as one of
their cultural practices. By denying the Makah cultural rights, this controversy could lead to
cultural genocide. The Makah people should be allowed to harvest a total of 24 whales in 6 year
period with two hunting seasons of 3 weeks each because it is the main factor in preserving their
culture, it will not cause the gray whalepopulation to

  • 9. Essay about Character Analysis of The Handmaid s Tale Character Analysis of The Handmaid s Tale Moira ===== We first meet Moira breezing into (P65) Offred s room at college. She is the breath of fresh air. As Offred says, She always made me laugh (P66). One of her roles is to bring humour to the reader, to lighten the situation and contrast with the horror of the Gileadean regime. An example of this is when Moira changes the hymn There is a Balm in Gilead to There is a Bomb in Gilead (P230). Margaret Atwood uses imagery to illustrate the role of Moira s humour in giving hope to the handmaidens. She describes Moira as a giggle; she was the lava beneath the crust of daily life for the handmaidens in the Red Centre (P143). I think ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Margaret Atwood describes her after her escape as being to the other handmaidens like an elevator with open sides (P143). In this simile I believe she is showing that Moira is able to take risks. She doesn t need the security that the others need, she is frightening to them, as she doesn t have the same fears. Another example of Moira s character that shows her nonconformist nature, is in that she made a political decision to become a lesbian. She didn t realise that she was gay, she d decided to prefer women (P180). I think the role of Moira s sexuality is to contrast the choice she had made before the regime took over, with the Gileadean laws which prevent women from having any choice of partner or any decision in the process of finding a partner, as The marriages are of course arranged (P231). Moira not only decided to become a lesbian, but also decided to be sterilised many years before the regime took over. It is her determination to survive which is displayed when she is sent to the Red Centre to become a handmaiden. Knowing that it is impossible for her to become pregnant and will be sent to the colonies after attempts at pregnancy with three couples, Moira admits, I d already had my tubes tied, years ago (P261). I believe that the role of Moira s infertility is to show the flaws in the Gileadean regime. Many of the records at the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Job Enrichment Essay Job Enrichment in the Nursing Profession Employee motivation and job satisfaction are intertwined in ways that have implications for organizational performance. Motivation has been explained as a goal oriented behaviour involving a course of action leading to the attaining of a reward (Armstrong, 2006) and as the energy that compels individuals to act persistently toward some goal (Berman, Bowman, West Wart, 2010). Within the framework of the present study, the consideration of satisfaction and motivationtogether lead to the concept of job enrichment initiatives for impacting employees experiences of job satisfaction such that their experience and performance are improved. The concept of job enrichment emerges from Herzberg s theory, as employees higher order needs should be the focus of organizational leaders interested in improving motivation. These include giving employees more control, responsibility, and permission to use their own discretion in order to get good results (Raza and Nawaz, 2011; Uduji, 2013). The use of symbolism does a great deal to add to the tone of the story by allowing large concepts to be depicted simply and subtlety, such as the characters emotions and the misfortune that befalls Doodle. The symbols that James Hurst uses range from the colors of the settings the characters are in to the scarlet ibis from which the book draws its name, with many others in between. The Effects Of Harsh Coaching Of Young Athletes Essay Harsh coaching of young athletes can often steer kids away from sports all together, but if the coaches get it right, the kids learn important skills for their futures. At a young age, children need discipline in order to put them in the right direction for their futures. This discipline is found in numerous forms, and one of the most common forms is through sports. David Brooks said, The best coaches still live by a code, and they make no apology for demanding that kids live up to it. • 26. Essay on the Symbolism of the Menagerie in The Glass... The Symbolism of the Menagerie in The Glass Menagerie Tennessee Williams play, The Glass Menagerie, describes three separate characters, their dreams, and the harsh realities they face in a modern world. The Glass Menagerie exposes the lost dreams of a southern family and their desperate struggle to escape reality. Williams use of symbolsadds depth to the play. The glass menagerie itself is a symbol Williams uses to represent the broken lives of Amanda, Laura and Tom Wingfieldand their inability to live in the present. The glass menagerie symbolizes Amanda Wingfield s overwhelming need to cling to her past and her fulfilled fear of being alone. Amanda resents the poverty stricken neighborhood in which she lives so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tom ends the argument by calling Amanda an ugly babbling old witch (Williams 1875), and struggles to put his coat on, intent on leaving. When he cannot put the coat on properly, he becomes frustrated with his clumsiness and flings it across the room, breaking some of the glass collection. Laura cries out as if wounded (Williams 1875). This shows how fragile Laura really is and how she reacts when even the small balance of her apartment is shifted. The most prominent use of this symbol comes at the crisis of the story, when Jim is left alone with Laura. The conversation turns to Laura s glass collection, when she remarks glass is something you have to take good care of. (Williams 1900), again showing her fragility. More parallels are drawn between Laura and the glass collection with the introduction of the unicorn. Jim says, Poor little fellow, he must feel sort of lonesome (Williams 1902) to which Laura replies, He stays on a shelf with some horses that don t have horns and all of them seem to get along nicely together (Williams 1902). The unicorn becomes a symbol for Laura because just like the unicorn she is different. When Jim and Laura dance, and Jim accidentally knocks the unicorn off the table and its horn is broken off, it loses its uniqueness. • 29. Analyzing Paul Walker s Obituary My Obituary Analysis When I think about the qualities of an effective obituary, three things come to mind. The obituary is bound to be a factual notice of death that includes all the basics about the person: their birth date, death date, home town, parents, children, and information about their career. This is the framework that makes up an obituary and is the most significant portion of it. Secondly, it is imperative that the obituary lists the person s major achievements in life. Lastly, the obituary should conform to its audience. The families of the deceased benefit from a kind portrayal of their loved one with highlights from their life. In contrast, a stranger reading it would be more entertained by the obituary if it was blunt when talking about the person s life. Therefore, an obituary writer should find a balance between discussing the person s successes and failures. The Classification Of Municipal Government From this Chapter, I understand the classification of municipal government from small to big at different scale and also what do the local governments do. The main role is the democratic and service provision. when studying the relationship between these two aspects, some questions are also proposed: is that only when you have property, can you really participate in the vote or democracy? Does the local governmentresponsible to the province about the finances? Or should it responsible to its people? Political part should not be taken away from the responsibility of a local government otherwise it will be no difference with a private supplier. Through reading the history of the local government, it is found that the municipal governments were mainly established in response to the population growth and service demand. Property tax is one of the approaches to increase the income of the government, but had been opposed by the people since the beginning. The Ontario model sets up in 1849 had been referenced for other provinces to establish their local governments. Reforms were also taken during the 20th century to eliminate corruption and to improve efficiency. It seems that the problems we are facing today are the same with what we were facing 100 years. Richard Miller The quote above explains the characteristics of an oligopoly in comparison to other market structures. Miller suggests the nature of the market is uncommon and that prices are rigid. The hypothesis mentioned in the introduction supports this assumption on the real estate market in Hanoi. The concentration ratios of these firms tend to be fairly high. This means that, for example, the largest four firms in the industry accounts for 70% of the market share. The implication of this is that firms in oligopoly are interdependent. The actions of one firm will directly affect the others. Each of the large firms in the industry has to try and predict the actions of the others. They may collude to avoid this. 2.2.3High barriers to entry/exit Barriers to entry are high. The hurdles that prevent other firms from entering the industry are called barriers to entry. These barriers could include government licenses, economies of scale, patents and access to technology. Recently it is a controversial phenomenon, the disappointment with budgeting is occurring. This is because some people find that budgeting processes is time consuming and often lead to dysfunctional behavior. Additionally, they make organization fail to be flexible in such an uncertain financial environment. Many people think traditional budgeting systems should be abolished, but others wish to improve them. Hope and Fraser (2003b) provide a few European companies that have abolished traditional budgeting systems successfully. On the other hand, Eckholm and Wallin (2000) observed approximately 61% of firms will improve the budgeting processes and continue to use them as control purpose. This paper argues that whether budgeting should be abolished or not mainly focus on three aspects, fixed performance contracts , time consuming and the changes of budgeting in real life. Evidence is presented that as a control instrument although budgeting has some shortcomings, it should not be abolished. Instead, those shortcomings could be addressed by some improvement measures. Fixed performance contracts One criticism of Hope and Fraser is that budgets use a mechanism called fixed performance contracts. They contend that when budget related elements have changed during budgeting period, a fixed goal may stand a poor performance evaluation criterion. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
