3. Usually teen films are targeted at teenagers from the age of 13 to 19. However many adults also
enjoy watching it as it may emphasise themes and consist of conventions which relate to their daily
lifestyle.
Our chosen genre for our film is a teen comedy with lots of reference to modern day “how to pick
up a girl” routines exaggerated to make it a lot more funnier. I strongly believe this is the unique
selling-point of our film as there are not so many teen films which relate to the modern context of
how some people view females in the media. This being that they are there to only like or dislike
what they see, but never truly offer anything themselves and the representation of females in such
a was has been an issue as some male teens think they know about women, but what they think
they know is only one stereotypical representation of how women are incorrectly represented in the
media. This can be very confusing for a teenager who cannot distinguish the difference.
Generally teenage boys would be more interested because of the context of our film, however the
wider audience would most probably consist of parents as they would possibly want an insight into
their daughter’s/son’s life, or teachers as they might be interested in getting to know the modern
day generation and what they view as important at that age. (Although some might already know
because they would teach them).
