Pre-production
• What are you making?
I am making a watch advert, magazine and poster
• Why?
I am making this as I am interested in advertising, and you can be creative when
making adverts as there is no limit
• Who is it for?
I am making this product for the higher class as others will not be able to afford this
product, and also this is what interests the higher class watch adverts and more
• Where will it appear/on what?
I will be advertising it through numerous ways such as YouTube for the watch advert
and TV, I will be making magazine and posters that will show the audience the watch
which will draw them into the selling point with the advert
Reflection:
Color scheme:
I have got existing images of magazines/ posters of watches, and I analyzed the colors they
have used. I found a pattern that all the images share, it’s that they all have one primary
color in the product to make their magazines/ posters stand out more to make it more eye
catching for the audience. Furthermore the colors all contrast with each other as they all
have a dark color scheme such as black as they have utilized as well as white these two
colors make the product more appealing and professional for the audience as these two
colors are just different shades of each other which mix very nicely. With this simple effect
of these two colors will make the primary color stand out more to the audience for
example in these products the producers have added in a bright color such as red, lime
green and orange. This makes this color bold and more eye catching, this makes it more
appealing for the audience. The effect of this is to make a shadow like effect with the two
shades then added with the bright color makes it seem mysterious and this grabs the
audiences attention to these products. Lastly with these colors when adding in the bright
color the producer has slightly adjusted the brightness level of these colors very slightly to
make it darker than what it should be this is match the color scheme of the colors and to
make the product more eye catching. The colors are all contrasting around the main color
of the watch, this is what I will be looking at mainly when creating my magazine/ poster.

Budget
Watch advert:
For this product I am able to do it at a cheap price as I am not having get any actors or any
help in creating this how ever I still need to get some equipment such as the white light for my
products. The cost of this will be round £30 max, as I’ve got to get the white light and also fuel
for the scenes that I am using the car.
Magazine:
For this product it will be the most expensive as I've got a couple of ideas I am wanting to do
for the magazine, it will come at a greater cost as I am having to have an actor help me. This
means that I will need to buy the costume that I am wanting the actor to wear and also I have
to pay for food and drinks of the actor. Overall for this product it will cost me £80, as I will
need to rent out a suit that will fit the actor and pay for the food and drinks, also I will need to
pay for the travelling costs
Poster:
For this product it will be the cheapest as I am able to do it from home I am not needing to get
any actors help and I am not having pay for fuel with the car as it will be stationary in the
driveway. Luckily I am not having to pay for the delivery or the car as I am using my parents car
for the product. The only thing I am having to buy is the white light as I already have the watch
I am going to use. Overall the cost of this product will be £20 max I will be trying to get a
bright white light so I get the full effect from it.
Serif Fonts
Style sheet:
I have chosen these fonts because I believe these suit my product as they look fancy, as
you would expect something that is for the higher class to have fancy writing and designs
on them. Another reason to why I picked them was because they are eye catching for the
audience this draws the target audience into the product. Furthermore what I have found
that a lot of producers have done in their text with the watch magazines is that they all
have fancy writing and when it’s related to card the writing is more bold however when it’s
for design the thickness of the font is smaller. For my product I will be using a thicker/ bold
font to portray to the audience that my product is linked with cars.
I have chosen this color scheme because I have analyzed other pre existing products and
researched all the different colors they have used. As I have chosen a dark color scheme
with one bright color, red, this is to make the product look more appealing to the
audience. Furthermore, I saw that a lot of producers where having a color scheme that
contrasted with each other this makes the products more eye catching for the audience.
The effect of this color scheme is to draw the audience into the product, as the dark colors
are very bold and a bit boring the producer has added in the bright color to make it more
interesting and also to make the color stand out more, this is to make this color bold. The
use of this technique is to make the product look more professional. Lastly the use of the
color scheme of the bright color depends on the watch and the color of it as I have found
out that a lot of silver watches with bits of blue on tend to have blue as a bright color and
so on. So when I do this product I will be looking ta what the color of the watch is and
what would work well with that color.
I have chosen these layouts for the magazine and poster because they are very simple yet
effective, as it attracts the audiences attention to this product. The producer of the
magazine/ poster has made it simple on purpose to purely show the audience that they are
trying to sell the watch and nothing else. I will be taking away the layout of these products
and put them into my own as the producers who made these have usefully got the
audiences attention on the watch as they have drawn our eyes to the thing they want us
the audience to see. As the producer has wanted us to se the watch then the title first, they
have doesn't this by putting the main aspects of the poster in the middle and then made it
big so it’s easy to notice. Furthermore to make this look effective and creative the producer
has made it fade out for the background to make it look more appealing for the audience.

4. pre production

  • 2. Pre-production • What are you making? I am making a watch advert, magazine and poster • Why? I am making this as I am interested in advertising, and you can be creative when making adverts as there is no limit • Who is it for? I am making this product for the higher class as others will not be able to afford this product, and also this is what interests the higher class watch adverts and more • Where will it appear/on what? I will be advertising it through numerous ways such as YouTube for the watch advert and TV, I will be making magazine and posters that will show the audience the watch which will draw them into the selling point with the advert Reflection:
  • 3.
  • 4. Color scheme: I have got existing images of magazines/ posters of watches, and I analyzed the colors they have used. I found a pattern that all the images share, it’s that they all have one primary color in the product to make their magazines/ posters stand out more to make it more eye catching for the audience. Furthermore the colors all contrast with each other as they all have a dark color scheme such as black as they have utilized as well as white these two colors make the product more appealing and professional for the audience as these two colors are just different shades of each other which mix very nicely. With this simple effect of these two colors will make the primary color stand out more to the audience for example in these products the producers have added in a bright color such as red, lime green and orange. This makes this color bold and more eye catching, this makes it more appealing for the audience. The effect of this is to make a shadow like effect with the two shades then added with the bright color makes it seem mysterious and this grabs the audiences attention to these products. Lastly with these colors when adding in the bright color the producer has slightly adjusted the brightness level of these colors very slightly to make it darker than what it should be this is match the color scheme of the colors and to make the product more eye catching. The colors are all contrasting around the main color of the watch, this is what I will be looking at mainly when creating my magazine/ poster.
  • 5. Equipment Watch advert: • Computer • Mouse • Camera • Phone • Watch Magazine: • Computer • Mouse • Graphics tablet • Watch • Phone • camera Poster: • Computer • Mouse • Camera • Phone watch • Watch • Graphics tablet Props Watch advert: • car • Watch • Watch case • White light • Water droplets Magazine: • Car • Watch • White light • Water droplets Poster: • Car • Watch • White light • Water droplets Location Watch advert: • Driveway • Home (dark room) • Busy road Magazine: • Driveway • Airstrip Poster: • Driveway
  • 6. Budget Watch advert: For this product I am able to do it at a cheap price as I am not having get any actors or any help in creating this how ever I still need to get some equipment such as the white light for my products. The cost of this will be round £30 max, as I’ve got to get the white light and also fuel for the scenes that I am using the car. Magazine: For this product it will be the most expensive as I've got a couple of ideas I am wanting to do for the magazine, it will come at a greater cost as I am having to have an actor help me. This means that I will need to buy the costume that I am wanting the actor to wear and also I have to pay for food and drinks of the actor. Overall for this product it will cost me £80, as I will need to rent out a suit that will fit the actor and pay for the food and drinks, also I will need to pay for the travelling costs Poster: For this product it will be the cheapest as I am able to do it from home I am not needing to get any actors help and I am not having pay for fuel with the car as it will be stationary in the driveway. Luckily I am not having to pay for the delivery or the car as I am using my parents car for the product. The only thing I am having to buy is the white light as I already have the watch I am going to use. Overall the cost of this product will be £20 max I will be trying to get a bright white light so I get the full effect from it.
  • 8. Style sheet: I have chosen these fonts because I believe these suit my product as they look fancy, as you would expect something that is for the higher class to have fancy writing and designs on them. Another reason to why I picked them was because they are eye catching for the audience this draws the target audience into the product. Furthermore what I have found that a lot of producers have done in their text with the watch magazines is that they all have fancy writing and when it’s related to card the writing is more bold however when it’s for design the thickness of the font is smaller. For my product I will be using a thicker/ bold font to portray to the audience that my product is linked with cars. I have chosen this color scheme because I have analyzed other pre existing products and researched all the different colors they have used. As I have chosen a dark color scheme with one bright color, red, this is to make the product look more appealing to the audience. Furthermore, I saw that a lot of producers where having a color scheme that contrasted with each other this makes the products more eye catching for the audience. The effect of this color scheme is to draw the audience into the product, as the dark colors are very bold and a bit boring the producer has added in the bright color to make it more interesting and also to make the color stand out more, this is to make this color bold. The use of this technique is to make the product look more professional. Lastly the use of the color scheme of the bright color depends on the watch and the color of it as I have found out that a lot of silver watches with bits of blue on tend to have blue as a bright color and so on. So when I do this product I will be looking ta what the color of the watch is and what would work well with that color.
  • 9. I have chosen these layouts for the magazine and poster because they are very simple yet effective, as it attracts the audiences attention to this product. The producer of the magazine/ poster has made it simple on purpose to purely show the audience that they are trying to sell the watch and nothing else. I will be taking away the layout of these products and put them into my own as the producers who made these have usefully got the audiences attention on the watch as they have drawn our eyes to the thing they want us the audience to see. As the producer has wanted us to se the watch then the title first, they have doesn't this by putting the main aspects of the poster in the middle and then made it big so it’s easy to notice. Furthermore to make this look effective and creative the producer has made it fade out for the background to make it look more appealing for the audience.
  • 10. Resources Equipment/ Props/ Costume needed Locations needed Car (Porsche) Driveway maybe busy road camera Every location for filming and taking shots Phone as a backup Every location for filming, taking shots and maybe for script watch For every location and shot as this is the main product suit Driveway and busy road whenever I have the car in the shot Computer For everything as I will be suing this to edit Graphics tablet For editing the magazine and poster as I can change little bits of detail
  • 11. Contingency Planning Potential Issue Solution memory stick corrupts have multiple storage devices, keep backing up your work and keep sending your work through email computer over heats take regular breaks, if it breaks make sure to have a backup e.g. college computers/ parents laptop camera breaks make sure to have a backup device to record on such as your phone loose watch have another watch ready to use that looks the same, take multiple shots of both watches to save time and in case if you loose one car goes for MOT or ends up in garage Have another backup car that you can use such as a neighbours/ friends car just make sure to sanitize afterwards actor cant make it due to covid make sure that you have 2 spare actors that are available to come and help if someone cant get there
  • 12. Health and Safety Potential Issue How will the issue be avoided? tripping over wires when using electronics make sure that the cables are tidy and out of the way headaches turn the brightness of the monitors down and take regular breaks 2 meter rule (Covid) make sure the production team is wearing masks and hand sanitizer and that everyone is away from each other back ache have a recliner seat, make sure that posture is right when sat and also take regular breaks car hitting wall/ equipment make sure that there's nothing in the way of the car, and have someone drive who's experienced cant get permission to shoot a shot at a place have multiple places where you can take the shot Car parked on busy road and someone gets hit Make sure the car is out of the way for traffic and make sure nothing is blocking the road, have people stood as far back from the road as well
