Real Video
• Structures and techniques of TV advertising
• The video has been put together by people speaking
about a new born baby and they are speaking on
the topic of what they were going to call her. Also
every time somebody speaks or does a facial
expression they make sure that the camera is on
them so the audience know who is talking.
• In the advert they haven't used many images. They
used more props than images. They made sure that
they were drinking out of an irn-bru can because
that is what they were promoting. Also at the end
the had a close up shot of the irn-bru cans and a
card with their slogan on.
• Some of the shots that they used were very useful in
some situations. For example, the over the shoulder
shot lets the audience know who is in the
conversation. Also the OTS shot is normally followed
by an establishing shot which helps the audience
place the characters in their setting.

• The producers have made you to try and buy
the product by saying it gets you through
tough situations. We can tell this in the advert
because the dad asked what they were going
to call the baby and the mum replied with
“Fanny.” The dad wasn’t so sure about it and
then he had a drink of irn-bru and he agreed
with it. This happens all the way through the
advert but with different situations. Also they
have the can in the video so that may make
the audience want to try the product. The
producers have gone down the entertainment
route for the advert. They try and make the
advert funny and made it have a bit of humor.
They have done this because they know that
irn-bru doesn’t actually get you through the
tough parts of the day. If people find the
advert funny might want to try the product.

• Irn bru have a very different type of way that
they advertise their products. You never really
ever see it from any other brand. They make
the adverts with language that sound bad.
Also they have some dirty adverts. The good
thing about irn bru adverts is that they try to
make them as funny as possible and have a bit
of humor.

• In this advert they use words that sound like
bad language. They start saying the bad words
and then they edit it so cuts out halfway
through and then add a word that sounds like
the bad word that they were originally saying.
I think advertising in this advert will work
good because it is very different to other TV
adverts so it will stand out and people will
check the product.
My Video

• My video has been put together by making a story
line and also adding advertising techniques at
different points of the video. I have done this
because I wanted to promote a brand in a way
where the audience can understand the story and
this will make them more intrigued. I haven’t
really used many images compared to some other
adverts that I have seen. I have used one image at
the end that promotes irn bru and tells you how
much it will be with somebody speaking over it. I
have done this because it pushes the logo even
more to make sure people know what the brand
is and also to make it clear exactly how much it is.
Also mid way though the advert I add a video
pause so that people can have a look at the bottle
design for a longer period of time. I have added
some very close up shots from when the
pedestrian gets hit and this view is also what it
would look like from the muggers perspective. I
did this because I put the hit in slow motion so I
wanted to experiment with different shots that I
could add.

– This advergame has been put together by a
range of different tools for each aspects of the
game. This advergame is a much more complex
game to mine and it will require a lot more time
to make. They also probably used top of the
range software so that they could put the game
together in a much better way. Some of the
designs that they have made are probably
made in photoshop such as: the mas, the bar,
the logo, and many other different parts of the
game. The main aim of the game is for the main
character to throw the bar as far as he can and
collect inr bru cans on the way and then this
will give you more throws so you can achieve a
further distance. The producers have made you
want to buy the product by putting the logo all
over the screen. This will help because is
people play the game enough they will
recognize the logo and then maybe buy it in a
shop. I don’t think making an advergame makes
me want to buy the drink but irn bru also have
many other ways of advertising so its not too
big of a deal.
My Advergame
– My game has been put together in photoshop
and in premiere pro. Everything that you see on
the screen is made in photoshop and then after
words I added the SFX into the game using
premiere pro. The main tool that I used to
create this game was the pen tool. This was
because I had to draw everything out using only
pixels. I created everything in the game by hand
and didn’t get anything from the internet. At
the start I did look for inspiration from google
but that’s about it. In this game I made there be
2 main characters and then I also did some
other characters in the background but they are
just the audience. In my game the main
obstacle to avoid is the goalkeeper saving the
shot that you take. I have tried to make people
buy the product by putting the logo all over the
screen and then hopefully people will recognize
it in a shop and then maybe they will buy it.
Honestly, I don’t think creating an advergame is
much of a promotion to the brand and I don't
think it will get much recognition compared to a
tv advert or something that explains what the
drink is.
Video Comparison
• Some of the similarities of my video and the existing video is that we have different people talking
to each other. When we change who is talking or when something happens we both change to a
different camera angle so the audience have a good understanding of what is happening in the
video. Another similarity that we both have is that we have real people in the video and it is not an
animation. Having real people helps because the might take the advert more seriously. A difference
that we have is that we have action in the advert and they just have people talking about
something in their life. The shot that we found difficult to do was the close up and when we tried to
do a transition to make it look like he got hit. If I could change the advert I would definitely try to re
edit the part where a character gets hit and make it look more realistic.
Advergame Comparison
Some of the similarities the we have in common is that there is both a goal. My games goal is to score and the irn bru
game is to gat as much score as possible. This is a good way to keep people playing the game because they want to
achieve the best goal they can. A difference of the game is that the background of the irn bru game moves and mine
doesn’t. Irn bru probably used much better software and had more time to create the game. The part that was difficult to
do was animate the ball going into the correct place at the correct speed. A strength of my game was that I got to create
both the ca=character's and make them look like they are in the right position. if I had more time I would of made the
audience jump up and down and make it look like they are participating.
