Working Title:
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
 My magazine will be called “The Gamers Page”
Product’s Purpose:
What is the product’s purpose (entertain/educate etc.) and how will you achieve this?
 My product is made to advertise and entertain. I will do this by adding advertisements of
products on the cover of my magazine and by adding information and images of the main
game I have chosen to talk about.
Genre:
What sort of product is it
 My product will be mostly focused on being literature type of genre and will be mostly a
masculine genre because my main topic will be focused on action and adventure however
I will still have a genre that matches both male and female.
Content
What is your product about? Discuss what you would put in it (be specific). Does it have a story? If
so, discuss it here
 My product will be about gaming, however my product will be mainly about the game
called The Long Dark a first person, open world, survival game that takes place in the
harsh Canadian wilderness where the player plays the role of a crash landed piolet. I will
be talking about the gameplay. For example the gameplay is talked about by the creators
to be a survival simulation that accounts for body temperature, hunger/thirst, fatigue, wind-
chill, wildlife, and other factors. I will also be talking about the company who made the
game, features in the game, the story/lore, the sandbox game mode and other aspects of
the game. My product will also be advertising other products that have a similar theme
however this will only be on the cover whereas on the double page spread it will just be
about The Long Dark.
Research & Planning
Where will you use elements of your research and planning to influence and inform your final idea
(be specific to certain parts)
 In my research, I talked about how I would use a range of different fonts and the idea of
the colour scheme having a large role/effect for my final project. I will do both of these
things in my final project because having a variety of fonts will not only help to grab the
audiences eye when walking past/looking at a range of different magazines but it helps to
make it more appealing overall while also making it different to competitors, lowering the
chances of getting sued for copyright and attracting a larger audience to purchase it. I will
also stick to making sure that my colour scheme represents my brand, looks appealing,
has a good effect on the audience and overall plays a large part in the creation of my
design.

Audience:
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc
Why would your project appeal to this person?
 My product will be aimed at people aged 16-19 because the majority of gamers are this
age. My product will also be mainly targeted at males more than females because there is
a larger audience of males who play video games. However, when creating my product, I
will make sure it is still appealing to females as well to increase the size of my overall
audience. I think my product will best suit the middle social class because the majority of
people in this social class have things related to the topic of my magazine such as
PlayStations, Xbox or gaming pc’s etc. This will mean that they will most likely want to buy
my product because it advertises products that are similar to those/are made by the
companies that make those exact products.
Psychographic- I think that my product specifically suits male teenagers in the age range 16-19
because in my research I found out that my product was the most attractive to this audience. I
think this is because of the lifestyle of this audience and how at this age and in this social class
they have a lot of free money that most often spend on gaming products.
Legal & Ethical Considerations:
Think about any offensive material you will include? – My product will not include any offensive
material when talking about the main subject (The Long Dark) however my magazine cover will be
advertising 18+ Games so I will have a warning placed on the front statin what is inside and that it
could possibly offend the reader.
Will you restrict younger people using/accessing it?- I will not restrict any younger people from
using my product however I will have a warning placed on the cover stating what’s inside so the
reader knows what the content is about before even opening it.
Will it offend any social groups/religions/ethnicities? - My product will not offend any social groups,
religions or ethnicities because nothing of those subjects are talked about in my product so there is
no opportunity for them to be offended.
How will you ensure you do not offend anyone?- The warnings I put on the cover of my magazine
will hopefully stop any chances of people getting offended because the reader will have been
warned beforehand so if they choose to carry on then it is their choice.
Are you using characters/names/logos of existing products/IPs? - I will be using images of other
company’s products, images of characters in games and names of those characters, games and
names of the companies creating them.
Will your product be sufficiently different from existing products to not get sued for copyright
infringement? - My product might have a similar layout to a range of other magazines however I
will be putting my own twist on the ideas I have found/want to do so that it is not very similar to any
existing products but a genuine idea. This should hopefully lower the chances of copyright
because I have made the ideas myself.
