What Are the Arguments for and Against the Idea That the...
The world is ever changing and has been that way even before humans dominated Earth. However,
what we are interested in for this topic is in the last few decades where globalization has had an
impact in the early 21st century, making the world flat . The phrase that the world has become flat is a
metaphor for viewing the world level in terms of commerce and competition, meaning a level playing
field where everyone has an equal opportunity. However, opinions are divided on how much
globalization has actually impacted the world as a whole. Critics argue that Friedman s term flat is
grossly exaggerated as his view is from an American perspective. This paper investigates major
arguments for both sides.

The falling of the Berlin Wall in November 9, 1989 signifies that the world has become a single space
without barriers that prevents or slows down international business (Friedman, 2005). In addition,
countries that had followed the Soviet economic model, including India, China, Russia and the nations
of Eastern Europe, Latin America and Central Asia, began to open up their economies to the world.
This in Friedman s view made countries more integrated and similar

Our countries motives are not completely justified.
Motives
The plan to launch cyber warfare on the Iranians began after a negotiation took place between the
Europeans and The United States. This was due to Iran s plan to continue their production of uranium.
Iran resumes uranium enrichment at Natanz after negotiations with European and American officials
flounder. (Gates, 2012). Our nations armed forces, CIA, and NSA worked together to create a
classified cyber attack to be launched on Iran s nuclear enrichment program (Gates, 2012). The United
States fear of nuclear weapons from Iran was the only motive for the cyber attack, and was continued
once President Obama came into office.
This attack was specifically intended to slow down the productions of their Nuclear Power Facility.
Cripple Iran enough to buy the United States more peace . Unfornatetly STUXNET is more powerful
then intended and many areas outside of Natanz were hit. Subsequently following the attack on Iran, it
was stated that 1,000 IR 1 centrifuges
(Shekaraubi, 2014) that were needed to develop uranium at the Iranian Natanz facility was impaired
throughout the breach. This would include but is not restricted to 30,000 IP addresses in Iran, several
manufacturing sites in Hormuzgan and the control system of Kharg Island which handles the vast
majority of Iran s crude oil exports. (Shekaraubi, 2014).

Sources of Disagreement
An Analysis of the Sources of Disagreement between Alice Mathias and Dana L. Fleming Regardless
of whether one participates or not, there is no denying the significant impact that online social
networking sites, such us MySpace and Facebook, are having on America s younger generations.
These trends are duly noted in Alice Mathias s New York Times feature, The Fakebook Generation
and Dana Fleming s New England Journal of Higher Education article, Youthful Indescretions: Should
Colleges Protect Social Network Users from Themselves and Others? Though both writers agree on
the significance of these types of sites, their views differ greatly as to the impact the sites are having
on America s youth. Two important factors as to why the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For this reason, Fleming comments on a variety of programs and policies across America that are
intended to take over what students are failing to do, safeguard the students privacy and well being.
What Mathias comments on, is dismay that the older generation may take away the temporary forum
that give students their outlet from reality, and not realize that, inevitably, these students will mature
and networking sites will become more about what their original intent was, ...a legitimate social
reference guide. (439) The difference in these two writers views appears to be influenced by the
generation gap. Mathias views are based on her own personal experience as a current college student,
and Facebook user. Her perception of the site is that of a harmless means of distraction for students
who will eventually move on to other things. Fleming s focus is more of the protector, rather than
participant. She sees Facebook and similar sites as potentially damaging to a students future. It seems
as though, through simply not acknowledging certain aspects of these sites and the effect they have on
students, Mathias blog is helping to make Fleming s case. Mathias, Alice. The Fakebook Generation.

Henry Thoreau Meaning
In Henry Thoreau s essay Walking , he says: Sometimes, no doubt, we find it difficult to choose our
direction, because it does not yet exist distinctly in our idea. Thoreau refers to the difficulty of
choosing the direction of a walk, emphasizing that there is a right way but that we often choose the
wrong. Indeed, he gives a thorough explanation of using one s conscience by choosing between right
and wrong. I, for one can relate to this beautiful quote that Henry Thoreau writes. I can relate to this
by my own identity. Sometimes I choose to put on this certain mask because of my insecurity how
others feel about me. As I approached my first year of high school in 2010, I realized from that day
my identity was lost and did not feel I was going towards the right direction. I always put on these
different masks on how I identified myself. However, after discovering my deeper relationship with
the Lord in 2014, everything changed quickly for me in a positive result. Thoreau s quote points out
two main things in my life. With assistance from the Lord, family, and friends, I was able to overcome
those feelings of fear and insecurity by discovering my vocation and my ability to grow in holiness.
As a young and naïve teenager going into high school was a struggling experience. I did not know
what to think of it, nor did not know how to react to this new chapter that was begun in my life. I
reflect upon my times of high school to this day and wonder I was afraid of and that

A Character Analysis of Katherine Mansfield s Miss Brill...
Katherine Mansfield s Miss Brill is a woman self contained, not pessimistic but settled, content. She is
not a victim of her circumstances, but the satisfied creator of them. You could say she has her ducks
lined up the way she wants them. Through the character of Miss Brill, Katherine Mansfield reveals a
woman who has the ability to enjoy a simple world of her own elaborate creation. Miss Brill is a
single woman, probably in her mid to late fifties. She lives alone in a very small space without even a
cat or bird. She has a collection of vintage clothing. Her physical appearance is only alluded to in the
18 paragraph short story by Mansfield, but in reading about a day in her life, one has the impression of

Miss Brill engages in shameless people watching. She has taken the practice of keen observation and
elevated it to an art form. Miss Brill ascribes to the notion that since we all coexist on this planet, we
are acting out our lives alongside each other, the entire world is a stage and we are all in it together.
She understands that most people do not feel quite so connected to one another and that her rose
colored glasses approach to life is not universal, but still she carries on, thriving amongst the non
believers, quietly living out her interpretation of days.
Miss Brill enjoys feeling connected not only to the people around her but also to favorite objects in
her life. She croons to her old fur stole Dear little thing! which she lovingly refers to as Little rogue!
(1) They have enjoyed many dressy days together and Miss Brill views the fur stole as her pet. While
conversing with old, stuffed garments may seem strange, she is more or less just talking to herself.
How much more would a puppy understand? Would Miss Brill appear saner if she chatted with a kitty
or perhaps a goldfish? Aside from the smashed in nose, her little stole would look quite realistic curled
up on her duck feather quilt, a furry friend looking up at its owner with fervent eyes, waiting to be
stroked, impatient to be wrapped around the shoulders of its miss, silently nipping its own tail as they
stroll to their favorite destination.
The fact that Miss

Chronicles Of Narnia Power Corruption Essay
When does power get to be to much, is it when we feel it surging through our veins or is it when we
are given a chance to be the boss of others? It could be either but power can ruin great people. Does
power corrupt? Yes it does, power is something that can take down a person within seconds. Power is
sneaky, tricky, and imperfect. Not all are corrupted by power but most are. Two people who
unquestionably let power take them over are Hitler and Jadis also know as the White Witch in C.S.
Lewis classics The Chronicles of Narnia. A person who did not let power overtake them is Lucy
Pevensie daughter of Eve Queen of Narnia also from C.S. Lewis classics The Chronicles of Narnia.
Aldof Hilter was a person who went insane from the power he held. (2) On a brisk springs day on the
20th of April in 1889 Adolf Hitler was born, he was a Austrian born German. Adolf grew like a weed
in a well cared for garden, he was a pleasent boy growing up but as he grew Adolf became a different

altruistic Lucy dashes about soldier to soldier with her healing cordial like a lizard running from the

the one person who would help them take down the Witch. (4) Keeping her head above water Lucy

The Press Released Horror Stories
United States. In Kenya, the press released horror stories of what the Mau Mau rebels did to colonists
to destroy support for them among both the British back home, and potential rebels in Kenya.
International news reported Kikuyu attacks on settlers as fanatical, degraded, bestial, and satanic
(Robbins 295). Such press reports denied the Mau Mau rebels their own voice in the international
conversation and turned potential sources of support against them.
However, just as the press has the power to deny support to indigenous resistance, so it can lend
support. In 2011 the National Geographic/Buffett Award for Leadership in Conservation went to Moi

However, all responses from governments and capitalists have not been violent. Native Americans
have ongoing, nonviolent struggles with the United States government over land, money, education,
healthcare, and legal rights. Maxus has regular dealings with ONHAE that are nonviolent, yet they are
a form of resistance because ONHAE is in itself a resistance.
Those that are protested against may not understand the protest; Robbins writes that the British could
think of no reason that the Mau Mau would rebel, and so they blamed the Mau Mau oath (Robbins
297). When two cultures collide, it is reasonable to assume that one (or both) will not understand the
other; there is often little attempt to understand the indigenous culture, as shown by missionary
attempts to educate indigenous people away from their traditional cultures. The inability to understand
each other, or perhaps the lack of an attempt to, may also be a leading cause for the violent reactions
that foreign parties have had to indigenous resistance.
The Huaorani are such a small group that open rebellion like the Mau Mau s would be totally illogical.
Instead, they have tried going the legal route, and, in doing so, have attempted to create a cross
cultural understanding by educating the leaders of ONHAE to interact with outsiders. ONHAE is an
organization of resistance, yet it works semi cooperatively with those that it was organized to resist.
This seeming paradox

Fiscal and Monetary Policy and Economic Fluctuations
The global economy was relatively doing fine more than five years ago before it was hit by economic
downturn or recession. During this period, the American economy was at its peak, particularly in the
fourth quarter of 2007. However, this was followed by a mild recession at the beginning of 2008,
which eventually turned into a severe credit crisis across the world approximately one year later.
While only a few countries escaped the economic recession, virtually no country could avoid the
severe bear markets in stock (Norris, 2012). Some countries like the United States experienced
changes in gross domestic product and stock markets. Since it has the best record of the main
developed countries, the United States was severely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The rate of inflation in the United States declined to a 4 year low in October 2013 and reached its
lowest rate since October 2009. According to recent releases, the inflation rate in the United States
eased to 1 percent in October 2013, which was a 0.2 percent decline from the previous month. Interest
rates in the United States have continued to rise, particularly on 10 year Treasury bonds. In February
this year, these rates had risen to 2.27 percent, which was an indication of approximately 10 percent
loss in the price of the bond. Nonetheless, the Federal Reserve has kept the interest rate on long term
bonds to an unexpected low through its unconventional monetary policy. This implies that the main
reason for the current interest rates is the unconventional monetary policy i.e. quantitative easing
regarding the purchase of huge amounts of Treasury bonds and other long term assets.
On the contrary, the unemployment rate has remained extremely high at around 7.3 percent from its
peak of 10 percent in October 2009. While there has been a significant decline in the current rate of
unemployment as compared to five years ago, it is still relatively high. The decline in the rate of
unemployment in the past five years is attributed to the addition of jobs by employers, though most of
them are part time and low paying. This rate is also fueled by the decline in portion

Loyalty And Chivalry Throughout The Middle Ages
Throughout the Middle Ages, wealth and status granted by God was the main defining feature of
power within a hierarchical status, yet within all upper levels of society, the concepts that defined
individuals and groups were that of honour, and military prowess. These two concepts also incorporate
ideas of manners and morals for those of higher standard within society to practice. All together this
can be incorporated into the idea of chivalry, a word and idea commonly used within medieval Europe
to describe a set of values with a large emphasis on upholding high social and moral standards, as well
as devout loyalty to God and liege. However within the concept of maintaining loyalty to both God
and liege created individual conflict between church ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most knights and those with education within the realm of chivalry were brought up to be traditionally
religious, often enacting the pious and obedient role ascribed to them as sons of Holy Mother Church,
showing how spiritual ideas of Catholicism and chivalry shared virtues important to both the clergy
and nobility. Zealousness was also an impact chivalry had on medieval society due to the ties almost
all knights had with the Roman Catholic faith, as during the periods of crusades many people used
chivalry as justification and defence to support the religious backings behind these holy wars, and
through increased zealousness, the impact religion plays on chivalry is clearly visible. Yet the most
zealous task a knight could undertake would be that of a crusade, it was not only fighting for honour
but the trial by combat against a thoroughly demonized opponent merited more divine blessing that
ordinary fighting at home. Furthermore many knights justified the intensive labour and tasks as
[having] been assigned to them by divine will, outlining the attitude surrounding those following a
chivalrous code. Ultimately it was the devout religious code that causes knights and monarchs to a life
of devout social activities, and physical labour in the justification of a strict moral

Ethical Issues Within the American Red Cross Essay
The American Red Cross (ARC) is an organization that was founded in 1881 by Clara Barton and
established itself as the most well known emergency relief organization devoted to the care of war
victims, disaster victims, and the suffering worldwide. Unfortunately, the ARC has been plagued with
a high executive turnover, slow response to disastrous events, and mismanagement of donation funds.
These problems now have the ARC facing another problem, fixing their credibility for the future.
The Red Cross is built to aide in disaster relief, but to receive a phone call asking Where is the Red
Cross? from the Pentagon to activate the specialized teams in response to 9/11 left scars on the ARC s

Numerous accusations on the mismanagements of volunteers and donated funds didn t end with 9/11,
but escalated following Hurricane s Katrina and Rita. When the overwhelming numbers of donations
specifically received for the relief efforts of 9/11, the executives made the wrong choice by going
against donator s wishes of how to use those funds. Also, the ARC didn t update their donation system
and was once again bogged down by the overpowering donations that poured in for Hurricane s
Katrina and Rita. On top of all that the ARC failed to get a grip on the financial disasters at its local
chapters unscreened volunteers walked away with ATM cards loaded with donated funds and some
manager s padded their own bank accounts with fundraiser donations (Holguin). For an organization
that is supposed to help the country in disaster relief, the ARC has added monetary complications as
the icing on the cake.
The organizational structure of the American Red Cross needs to be taught that ethical compliance is
its first priority; otherwise issues will continue to present themselves when the ARC is needed most.
Mandatory, in person, ethical classes should be held every year for employees and volunteers to help
reinforce the ARC s claim that they are fixing their internal issues. Also, executive leadership needs to
be held accountable for their actions and not given monetary compensation upon their

Mies Van Der Rohe Concept Of Architecture
What is life? Exploring Mies van der Rohe s concept of architecture as a life process From his popular
motto less is more to his concept of architecture as the spatially apprehended will of the epoch , the
aphorisms of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe (1886 1969) remain one of his most memorable legacies.
Despite being less well known, other such statements promoted by Mies are also important to clarify
the philosophy that sustained his works. This paper investigates one of these less known yet highly
revealing statements: Building art is only understandable as a life process . Considering the broader
context of Mies s discourse, philosophical readings, and architectural projects, this paper argues that
Mies used the term life process to refer to a larger changing reality that united the material and the
spiritual realms of life. According to Mies, the recognition of this material spiritual unity ... Show

The Industry Leaders Of The Non Alcoholic Beverage Market
The age of carbonated soft drinks, or as we know it in Canada as pop, all began in 17674, when Dr.
Joseph Priestley (1733 1804)3, created the first drinkable man made glass of carbonated water. Born
from Dr. Joseph Priestley original creation, are two corporate giants, Coca Cola Company and
PepsiCo Inc., which have grown to become household names across the world. Throughout this
report, we will be exploring the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threat for each of these
publically traded companies. We will further compare and analyse the financial performance of these
two industry leaders of the non alcoholic beverage market. Background: Coca Cola Company
According to King, M., M., (1986), In the early 1880 s, Dr. Pemberton had introduced what became an
extremely popular drink in Atlanta, Pemberton s French Wine Cola. (p. 85) According to King, M.,
M., (1986), Dr. Pemberton, himself explained that the drink was composed of an extract from the leaf

tonics, assisting digestion, imparting energy to the organs of respiration, and strengthening the
muscular and nervous system. (p. 85), as a pharmacist Dr. Pemberton promoted the drink for its health
benefits. It was not until 1886, that the beverage truly become what we know it as today. On May 8,

Negotiations Between International Companies From American...
Most of the companies in the word have the need to negotiate to obtain the resources they require to
produce, transport or sell their services or products. Negotiation is a process that requires two or more
parts involve that need something that only the counterpart can offer. Is in that moment when the
negotiation begins, so the parties can find a solution that will satisfy the needs they have. In this
process, the parties may assume they have different interest that can go against their best interests,
based on the impression or stereotype they have of the counterpart. This mistrust may increase when
the parties are from different cultures or have different backgrounds, since negotiations are not only
between companies from the same country, but also with companies from different countries. An
example of this is the negotiations between international companies from American and Asian
countries, a situation that is increasing a cause of the globalization. An even though this cultures know
that negotiations is a significant component in business, there are differences in how this process is
approached by American and Asian cultures. First, the negotiation style of Asian and American
cultures varies depending on the background of the parties involved in the process. Asian cultures tend
to use the collaborative style of negotiation, this mean that they try to be cooperative and work with
the counterpart to find a solution, while American cultures tend to use competitive

In order to protect vital food sources, past heritages, traditions, and cultural values for future
generations, the government should not ban the practice of hunting wild animals. Author Jacqueline
Thursby argues, in her article Hunting and Feasting in Utah and Idaho that this region is rugged
country; it is no easy task, even today, to make a living there, and wild game continues to serve as a
mainstay for some families (103). Most urban families take for granted the accessibility of the

Schindler s List Comparison
The feature film Schindler s List was the movie adaptation of the novel, Schindler s Ark by Thomas
Keneally. It was said that the story was told to the author by the Pfefferberg family, survivors and
members of Schindler s Jews. This black and white docudrama was a fictional film that has a high
degree of factuality. Steven Spieldberg s purpose of creating the movie in this fashion was to
document the atrocities of the Holocaust of World War II, while giving the film a connection to the
audience. THESIS Oskar Schindler was the hero of the tale, but he didn t start out that way. He was a

These moments defined him as a businessman. They truly didn t touch him. His moment came during
the cleansing of the ghetto. He was atop the hill looking down on all that lay beneath. The gun shots,

This was the only color in the entire film. It was his pivotal moment. That young girl represented the
innocence and the humanity that the Jewish people had been denied. The realization had dawned on
Schindler as the full weight of the reality hit him. From that moment on during the film, Schindler was
a changed man. His efforts to secure his people went from a purely economic standpoint, to a more
altruistic motive. Schindler created the list in the film, although through the research of many it has

Sharing Is Not Always Caring
As a teenager, receiving one s very first cell phone is the first step in establishing popularity. Tweeting,
texting, Instagram ing and publishing life s fails and funnies are the teen social norm and staple to the
lines of communication between other teens. Creativity is put to the test when language is turned into
code (wyd, rotflmbo, ie.) and electronic communication between people sitting across the table from
each other becomes a matter of national security. A peaceful co existence between adults and teens
continues as long as actual communication between both parties is kept to a minimum. But
somewhere along the way, the secret behind the codes was made public, and parents everywhere were
now able to decipher and share the coded information that was not [originally] meant for the rest of
the world communicational anarchy ensued. In the same manner, personal information not meant for
the whole world can cause problems in the lives of those whose information is shared. The right to

Jetblue s Good Service Quality
ABSTRACT (Isabelle Aultman and Ben Cvek) In any business service quality is going to make or

what a customer perceives, what a customer is willing to accept, what a company understands about
those expectations, a company s communication both internal and external, and the company systems

Although JetBlue had good service quality in place for the most part, it lacked the proper processes

core values, although, the company seems to be on the way to resolving the issues that plague them.
STRATEGIC PROFILE (John Beck and Admira Salazar)
Starting Off In the Right Direction
Jet Blue was birthed in 1999 by David Neeleman and went public in 2000 as an independently owned
and operated Airline. Headquarters is located in Long Island, New York with its main base at John F.
Kennedy International Airport with most of the flights occurring in the United States and the
Caribbean (Docslide, 2015).
From its very essences, JetBlue showed high signs of profitability, initially the company set out to sell
over five and a half million shares at an average of $25 per share. However, the company actually
topped off at $27 dollars selling almost 6 million in shares. Being in the airline industry means the
level of competition is high, so JetBlue wanted to establish itself as a high end airline with

Women s Reform Movements
Women s participation in reform movements led the way to women s reform movements. Through the
process of reform, women gained access to public spheres, allowed them to participate more in
society, and allowed them to set their sights on reform inspiring a reform movement of their own. As
women participated in reform movements, they gained more access to public spheres. His access
allowed women to feel and take a more equal position to that of men. This was stimulated by women s
ability to spread petitions, participate in public meetings, and share personal thoughts from journals on
political issues. As these rights became more open, women began to move closer to a more equal role
to that of men. Along with the increased access

Forensic Science Essay example
Forensic Science has contributed to our world a great deal. People often misunderstand Forensic
Science and believe it is much more capable than it really is. As a matter of fact what you see on T.V.
is around 80% false or over exaggerated in some way. To Start of, Criminal Investigation is the largest
and most known form of Forensic Science. Some of the more known areas include; Fingerprinting,
Ballistics, DNA Identification, Fiber Samples, Computer Animation, Documentation analysis, etc. To
get this out of the way in the beginning, what you saw on last night s law and order is far from the
truth. Things they do in a matter of hours take months at a time, and most of the time aren t even
plausible concepts. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Computer Animation is another valuable aspect in Forensics. Many People believe that they are
getting virtually framed , and that computer animations are inconclusive. This has been shown to be
wrong and is said to be much more accurate then an actual man reenactment. Computers are able to
precisely pinpoint every single aspect of the reenactment. Some argue that this may Create reality and
not illustrate it, but that s up to the court to decide. An example of how this works was used when a
snowplow struck an Iowa State basketball players car killing him. The plow driver was going 10 miles
over the speed limit. This video was recreated and showed a fatal blow the side of the deceased s car.
Although he was speeding this movie was recreated with the plow going the speed limit and he still
would have been fatally killed. The Iowa student didn t look when pulling out into the intersection if
you re wondering. Also, Forensic Scientists use computer animation to simulate the aging or
appearance change in a criminal or deceased individual. Though this is a great technique, things
cannot always be exactly 100% certain on the reconstruction. A lot of the deciding whether this if
valid, is up too the jury souly. This can even help provide the cause of death in a badly degraded
badly.
Documentation Examination is another very important aspect in Forensic Science.

The Prevalence Of Refractive Errors In Children
Refractive errors are the result of misaligned optical components within the eye causing improper
focusing of light onto the retina. Although the optical components may vary by a minute amount, the
resulted blurred vision will not only affect the individual but also society in terms of the health
industry, education, research and socioeconomics. As a result of the impact of refractive errors, there
has been an increasing emphasis for research and action plans placed by eye health organisations and
the government on the development, prevention and control of refractive errors.
As a child s eye begins to develop and undergo emmetropization, there is a dynamic change to the
optical components such as the crystalline lens, cornea and axial length. ... Show more content on

The most common cause of visual impairment is due to uncorrected refractive error. 2 Studies by
researchers by the Brien Holden Vision Institute approximates the cost to correct refractive errors to
be US$20 045 million.2 The correction of refractive errors make a worthwhile investment as
uncorrected refractive errors cause an estimated US$91,300 million US$327,000 million loss in
productivity. 2 In order to minimise this loss of productivity, it is imperative for the government to
support visual health sectors. Therefore, due to the high economic costs of refractive error, family,
communities and the government must implement preventative or corrective measures.
There are high costs for poverty stricken nations tackling uncorrected refractive errors. The impact of
blindness of a country can amount to $42 billion in 2000. 2 This large sum will be very difficult to set
aside and invest in eye health in developing countries. When eye health is left untreated this will often
increase the cost of repairing eye health issues which furthers the cycle of decreasing eye health care.
Therefore, it is ideal for developing countries to highly invest in quality eye care as soon as they can
afford to train health

Pursuing Dreams In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men
Dreams are worth pursuing if you are dedicated and determined to achieve your dream. The economy
has fallen and a lot of jobs aren t able to for people to make money. Everyone is desperate to get a job
and succeed, but you must sacrifice certain things to achieve your goal. It is worth pursuing your
dreams like curley s wife, george, and lennie. One reason in OMAM that shows your dreams is the
chances you can take. Curleys wife wants to be famous and free. The text says, but the guys said, i
coulda. If id went, i wouldn t be livin like this, you bet. (p.88 89). This shows that her dream is to be
famous. She said that she would be better off following her dream. Another way they show dreams is
that she doesn t want to be locked up by curley. In the text, it says, Well i ain t givin you no trouble.
Think i don t like to talk to somebody ever once in awhile? Think i like to stick around in that house

Another way they are hard working is that they got a job. The text says, No he aint, but he sure a hell
of a good worker. Strong as a bull... He can do anything you tell him. (p. 22). This shows they are hard

Circumcision Is A Debating Procedure For Many Years
Circumcision has been a debating procedure for many years. It is a procedure that means cutting off
the foreskin, or ring of tissue that covers the head of the penis. Circumcision is said to have started
many years ago and is a big part is some religions. For example, according to the book of Genesis in
the Torah, god made a covenent with Abraham (a Jewish patriarch) in which Abraham and his
decendents would be given great land riches, and success. There was only one catch, Abraham, his
descendants, any slaves purchased or born in his house hold by the eighth day of life. If any failed to
do so then they would be separate from his people and live without the favor of god. Untill this day
Jewish people have lived by that and is a strong religious belief. This procedure on the Jews was
called a bris or brit milah.
Even though circumcision was practiced in different areas of the world, it was first documented in art
form by the Egyptians. They circumcised because they believed it was a method of purification. It
later started making its way to other cultures, but nobody really knows why the practice spread nor
why it even started.
Many other countries removed the foreskin because they believed it marked entrance into adulthood,
to humiliate enemies, to identify those with higher social status, to enhance or limit sexual pleasure.
Also having your penis circumcised helped make it easier to maintain clean. Normally circumcision
was done at the age where they thought was

This leads to the basic differentiation between wealth maximization and profit maximization
approach. There are several arguments of why getting as much profit as possible will not ensure the
firm s viability in the long term. In contrast to wealth maximization, the profit maximization holds on
to the following views in term of:
1. Time Horizons. It focuses on short term benefits and tries to gain as much profit as possible
regardless of the long term effects.
2. Timing of Returns. It does not consider the timing of returns and thus time value of money.
3. Distributions of Income. It tends to ignore the owners wish to receive a portion of earnings in the
form of dividends.
4. Risk. It gives less consideration to risk in an attempt to maximize profits, as higher risks will
associate with higher return.
Other goals of the firm are essential to be stated to avoid any misunderstanding. In order to achieve
wealth maximization, the following goals are essentials:
1. Maximization of profits. To make profits is essential to provide stability and growth in operations
and rewards to individuals and institutions that contribute to the firm. It is essential, however to
consider the above constraints and the risk of making a decision that is higher risk relates to higher
return.
2. Maximization of

The Autobiography Of Malcolm X By Alex Haley Essay
Malcolm X had a very interesting life and there were several aspects that affected his views of
American society. In The Autobiography of Malcolm X by Alex Haley, the three main things that
effected Malcolm s life was his arrival in the city of Boston, the conk he received, and his brother
Reginald. These three symbols changed his life forever. Also all of them were connected as well.
Malcolm X, being from Lansing, Michigan, never expected his life to change as drastically as it did.
Growing up in Lansing, Malcolm was exposed to the negative parts of the city. He even predicted his
own death to happen due to violence since most of his family was victims of violence. In Lansing,
hardly any black man died from natural causes. In chapter one of the book, Malcolm stated that his
father, Earl Little, had seen four of his six brothers die by violence, three of them killed by white men,
including one by lynching. When Malcolm s mother found out that Malcolm s father was murdered,
she had a mental breakdown. For several months, she had been doing things out of the ordinary and
Malcolm began to worry about her. She eventually was sent to the mental illness home where she
spent the rest of her life. All of the children were separated and this gave Malcolm the perception that
now his family has been a victim to society. In the summer of 1940, Malcolm spends the entire
summer with his sister Ella who had been living in the city of Boston. Seeing how much better life

I cried halfway throughout the story, not knowing what to expect for an ending. This is how I felt

readers and the Manga itself. Some changes that could have been made in the manga, are the type of
drawing style they use, the way they finished it and the number of simulations it has with the Anime

read other type of manga before reading Fruit Basket. The drawings are nice enough for the manga;
however, if you don t understand the reason throughout the drawing, the plot may seem more
confusing. Especially when some of the characters may look way too similar to each other. In this
manga, the first time I was getting confused on who was who, especially when adding their zodiac
character. After becoming accustomed to manga for 3 years, I was able to come back and reread the
manga and have no confusion.
Tohru Honda is the young orphan girl who meets Yuki, Kyo, and Shigure Sohma. This is where all
their lives change and Tohru finds about the curse of the Sohma turning into the zodiac animals when
weak or hugged by the opposite sex. The beginning is great, it caught my attention throughout the
whole story, however, as the last chapter was coming closer it felt as though the story was finished in a
hurry. My face was full of confusion and questions were rising when I completed the manga. The
story starts off with Tohru wanting to help the Sohma family to find a way to break the curse, in the
end, she succeeds. How? Is my question. they made it so

Using Natural Gas and Liquid Natural Gas
Introduction
For decades the United States of America has been relying on fossil fuels to power its economy and to
function as a country. One namely Diesel fuel has power big rigs that our country depends on to
transport merchandise and goods. It seems like it is part of the American way of life burning more
than 1 billion dollars worth of oil per day. An estimated 10 percent of that is consumed by big rig
trucks. The United States military also used diesel for a majority of its craft and vehicles. That is a
large amount of oil and that is why there is research being done looking for alternative options to keep
the country going. The topics at hand are natural gas and liquid natural gas.
Details and science of natural gas
It goes without saying that there are many skeptics that argue liquid natural gas deposits create just as
much emissions as coal and oil. The main thing in natural gas is methane which is much more potent
than carbon dioxide. Natural gas comes from dense rock clusters known as shale. Energy drilling is
really quite simple. It starts out with deposits of natural gas found deep in the ground. Scientists find
these deposits using various methods like looking for seismic energy and magnetic traces. Once a
probable deposited is found the drilling or energy company drills deep into the earth s crust to reach it.
The next part is hard because after the hole is drilled the gas will not simply flow out of the hole. The
natural gas is in the shale

stressors such as divorce, domestic violence, and poverty have a tremendous affect on preschool
children and are ultimately detrimental to their development. Although stress is normal for children to
experience, preschoolers are not resilient towards stressors and are highly affected by them. The
effects of stressors on children are not minimal either. Not only do family stressors affect children s
behavior in the preschool classroom, but it influences their development and overall future. This
makes it that much more important for parents and childcare providers to be aware and help/guide

Hip Hop is a complex cultural movement formed during the early 1970s by African Americans in the
slums of South Bronx, New York (Dyson 6), it propagated outside of the African American
community in late 1980s, and by the opening of the 21th century it became the most spread culture in

graffiti could be that it is a mural interpretation of the artists inner that can be resulted in a drawing,

Tagging, which can be a simple form of one color only; second, is the Threw Up in which the artist
may use more than two colors, and the Spray is the third type where more colors and complexity is
used. (Gross 285)
The roots of graffiti started about 1971 by a Greek American who tagged TAKI 183 in all New York

The Mongol Empire And The Empire Of The Mongol Empire
Mongols Chinggis Khan founded the Mongol Empire in 1206 A.D. this was the rise of nomadic
pastoral societies in the north. The Mongol s established the largest contiguous empire in the Neolithic
era. The Mongol Empire was notable for their military power, their diplomatic protection, and safe
travel. These notable features aided the growth and expansion of the empire. The Mongols conquest
left a trail of blood and destruction. For a century, the Mongol Empire cultivated for the first time East
West contact. I will further discuss the primary sources and secondary sources of the Mongol Empire.
The Mongols encouraged trade and often moved craftsmen and other specialists from one place to
another. Trade was essential to the Mongols, they started issuing a paizi (modern day passports) to
government officials, foreigners they traded with, and the nobles who would travel along the Mongol
territory. The Mongol Empire encouraged a wider distribution of good and idea, so officials made sure
the travel routes were as safe as possible. In addition, commodities such as silk could be purchased at
lower prices because the cost of travel and security decreased. The primary reason for these passports
was to ensure safety along the trade routes of the Mongol empire. The paizi is a metal plaque made of
iron and silver inlay, it had to worn around the neck, so it was visible. The inscription says, by the

Spanish Civil War Essay
Spanish Civil War
(1936 39), military revolt against the Republican government of Spain, supported by conservative
elements within the country. When an initial military coup failed to win control of the entire country, a
bloody civil war ensued, fought with great ferocity on both sides. The Nationalists, as the rebels were
called, received aid from fascist Italy and Nazi Germany. The Republicans received aid from the
Soviet Union, as well as from International Brigades, composed of volunteers from Europe and the
United States.
The war was an outcome of a polarization of Spanish life and politics that had developed over

The matter of how many were killed remains highly contentious; however, it is generally believed that
the toll of Nationalist violence was higher. In any event, the proliferation of executions, murders, and
assassinations on both sides reflects the great passions that the Civil War unleashed.
The captaincy of the Nationalists was gradually assumed by General Franco, leading forces he had
brought from Morocco. On October 1, 1936, he was named head of state and set up a government in
Burgos. The Republican government, beginning in September 1936, was headed by the socialist leader
Francisco Largo Caballero. He was followed in May 1937 by Juan Negrín, also a socialist, who
remained premier throughout the remainder of the war and served as premier in exile until 1945. The
president of the Spanish Republic until nearly the end of the war was Manuel Azaña, an anticlerical
liberal. Internecine conflict compromised the Republican effort from the outset. On one side were the
anarchists and militant socialists, who viewed the war as a revolutionary struggle and spearheaded
widespread collectivization of agriculture, industry, and services; on the other were the more moderate
socialists and republicans, whose objective was the preservation of the Republic. Seeking allies
against the threat of Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union had embraced a Popular Front strategy, and

The Benefits of Running Essay
Moving from one place to another is a necessity for almost every living organism. Whether it be
sliding, walking, jumping, crawling, or flying, movement is bound to happen sometime. Humans like

a stress free day is possible through running. The calming noises of ambient sounds of nature and the
pitter patter of one s footsteps seem to have a calming effect. I have had days where my stress has
driven me over the edge, and there is only one way I can get rid of it, running. Anger and stress fuel
me as I race out the door and release it throughout the next hour. My heart pumps rapidly as I take off
down the road. My lungs find a rhythm of breathing and I can feel the anger slowly leaving my body

usually cause stress. Many see the foible of running, for they believe it is repetitive and boring. Those
who say that have a good point. After all, one is just moving quickly down a long, straight,

However, what we are interested in for this topic is in the last few decades where globalization has had an impact in the early 21st century, making the world flat . The phrase that the world has become flat is a metaphor for viewing the world level in terms of commerce and competition, meaning a level playing field where everyone has an equal opportunity. However, opinions are divided on how much globalization has actually impacted the world as a whole. Critics argue that Friedman s term flat is grossly exaggerated as his view is from an American perspective. This paper investigates major arguments for both sides. Arguments supporting the flat ... Our nations armed forces, CIA, and NSA worked together to create a classified cyber attack to be launched on Iran s nuclear enrichment program (Gates, 2012). • 4. Sources of Disagreement An Analysis of the Sources of Disagreement between Alice Mathias and Dana L. Fleming Regardless of whether one participates or not, there is no denying the significant impact that online social networking sites, such us MySpace and Facebook, are having on America s younger generations. These trends are duly noted in Alice Mathias s New York Times feature, The Fakebook Generation and Dana Fleming s New England Journal of Higher Education article, Youthful Indescretions: Should Colleges Protect Social Network Users from Themselves and Others? Though both writers agree on the significance of these types of sites, their views differ greatly as to the impact the sites are having on America s youth. Two important factors as to why the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For this reason, Fleming comments on a variety of programs and policies across America that are intended to take over what students are failing to do, safeguard the students privacy and well being. What Mathias comments on, is dismay that the older generation may take away the temporary forum that give students their outlet from reality, and not realize that, inevitably, these students will mature and networking sites will become more about what their original intent was, ...a legitimate social reference guide. (439) The difference in these two writers views appears to be influenced by the generation gap. Mathias views are based on her own personal experience as a current college student, and Facebook user. Her perception of the site is that of a harmless means of distraction for students who will eventually move on to other things. Fleming s focus is more of the protector, rather than participant. She sees Facebook and similar sites as potentially damaging to a students future. It seems as though, through simply not acknowledging certain aspects of these sites and the effect they have on students, Mathias blog is helping to make Fleming s case. Mathias, Alice. • 6. Henry Thoreau Meaning In Henry Thoreau s essay Walking , he says: Sometimes, no doubt, we find it difficult to choose our direction, because it does not yet exist distinctly in our idea. Thoreau refers to the difficulty of choosing the direction of a walk, emphasizing that there is a right way but that we often choose the wrong. Indeed, he gives a thorough explanation of using one s conscience by choosing between right and wrong. I, for one can relate to this beautiful quote that Henry Thoreau writes. I can relate to this by my own identity. Sometimes I choose to put on this certain mask because of my insecurity how others feel about me. As I approached my first year of high school in 2010, I realized from that day my identity was lost and did not feel I was going towards the right direction. I always put on these different masks on how I identified myself. However, after discovering my deeper relationship with the Lord in 2014, everything changed quickly for me in a positive result. Thoreau s quote points out two main things in my life. With assistance from the Lord, family, and friends, I was able to overcome those feelings of fear and insecurity by discovering my vocation and my ability to grow in holiness. As a young and naïve teenager going into high school was a struggling experience. I did not know what to think of it, nor did not know how to react to this new chapter that was begun in my life. I reflect upon my times of high school to this day and wonder I was afraid of and that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She is not a victim of her circumstances, but the satisfied creator of them. You could say she has her ducks lined up the way she wants them. Through the character of Miss Brill, Katherine Mansfield reveals a woman who has the ability to enjoy a simple world of her own elaborate creation. Miss Brill is a single woman, probably in her mid to late fifties. She lives alone in a very small space without even a cat or bird. She has a collection of vintage clothing. Miss Brill ascribes to the notion that since we all coexist on this planet, we are acting out our lives alongside each other, the entire world is a stage and we are all in it together. She understands that most people do not feel quite so connected to one another and that her rose colored glasses approach to life is not universal, but still she carries on, thriving amongst the non believers, quietly living out her interpretation of days. Miss Brill enjoys feeling connected not only to the people around her but also to favorite objects in her life. She croons to her old fur stole Dear little thing! which she lovingly refers to as Little rogue! (1) They have enjoyed many dressy days together and Miss Brill views the fur stole as her pet. While conversing with old, stuffed garments may seem strange, she is more or less just talking to herself. How much more would a puppy understand? Would Miss Brill appear saner if she chatted with a kitty or perhaps a goldfish? Aside from the smashed in nose, her little stole would look quite realistic curled up on her duck feather quilt, a furry friend looking up at its owner with fervent eyes, waiting to be stroked, impatient to be wrapped around the shoulders of its miss, silently nipping its own tail as they stroll to their favorite destination. • 8. Chronicles Of Narnia Power Corruption Essay When does power get to be to much, is it when we feel it surging through our veins or is it when we are given a chance to be the boss of others? It could be either but power can ruin great people. Does power corrupt? Yes it does, power is something that can take down a person within seconds. Power is sneaky, tricky, and imperfect. Not all are corrupted by power but most are. Two people who unquestionably let power take them over are Hitler and Jadis also know as the White Witch in C.S. Lewis classics The Chronicles of Narnia. A person who did not let power overtake them is Lucy Pevensie daughter of Eve Queen of Narnia also from C.S. Lewis classics The Chronicles of Narnia. Aldof Hilter was a person who went insane from the power he held. (2) On a brisk springs day on the 20th of April in 1889 Adolf Hitler was born, he was a Austrian born German. Adolf grew like a weed in a well cared for garden, he was a pleasent boy growing up but as he grew Adolf became a different person. • 9. The Press Released Horror Stories United States. In Kenya, the press released horror stories of what the Mau Mau rebels did to colonists to destroy support for them among both the British back home, and potential rebels in Kenya. International news reported Kikuyu attacks on settlers as fanatical, degraded, bestial, and satanic (Robbins 295). Such press reports denied the Mau Mau rebels their own voice in the international conversation and turned potential sources of support against them. However, just as the press has the power to deny support to indigenous resistance, so it can lend support. Native Americans have ongoing, nonviolent struggles with the United States government over land, money, education, healthcare, and legal rights. Maxus has regular dealings with ONHAE that are nonviolent, yet they are a form of resistance because ONHAE is in itself a resistance. Those that are protested against may not understand the protest; Robbins writes that the British could think of no reason that the Mau Mau would rebel, and so they blamed the Mau Mau oath (Robbins 297). When two cultures collide, it is reasonable to assume that one (or both) will not understand the other; there is often little attempt to understand the indigenous culture, as shown by missionary attempts to educate indigenous people away from their traditional cultures. The inability to understand each other, or perhaps the lack of an attempt to, may also be a leading cause for the violent reactions that foreign parties have had to indigenous resistance. The Huaorani are such a small group that open rebellion like the Mau Mau s would be totally illogical. Instead, they have tried going the legal route, and, in doing so, have attempted to create a cross cultural understanding by educating the leaders of ONHAE to interact with outsiders. ONHAE is an organization of resistance, yet it works semi cooperatively with those that it was organized to resist. This seeming paradox ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Fiscal and Monetary Policy and Economic Fluctuations The global economy was relatively doing fine more than five years ago before it was hit by economic downturn or recession. During this period, the American economy was at its peak, particularly in the fourth quarter of 2007. However, this was followed by a mild recession at the beginning of 2008, which eventually turned into a severe credit crisis across the world approximately one year later. While only a few countries escaped the economic recession, virtually no country could avoid the severe bear markets in stock (Norris, 2012). Some countries like the United States experienced changes in gross domestic product and stock markets. Since it has the best record of the main developed countries, the United States was severely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The rate of inflation in the United States declined to a 4 year low in October 2013 and reached its lowest rate since October 2009. According to recent releases, the inflation rate in the United States eased to 1 percent in October 2013, which was a 0.2 percent decline from the previous month. Interest rates in the United States have continued to rise, particularly on 10 year Treasury bonds. In February this year, these rates had risen to 2.27 percent, which was an indication of approximately 10 percent loss in the price of the bond. Nonetheless, the Federal Reserve has kept the interest rate on long term bonds to an unexpected low through its unconventional monetary policy. This implies that the main reason for the current interest rates is the unconventional monetary policy i.e. quantitative easing regarding the purchase of huge amounts of Treasury bonds and other long term assets. On the contrary, the unemployment rate has remained extremely high at around 7.3 percent from its peak of 10 percent in October 2009. While there has been a significant decline in the current rate of unemployment as compared to five years ago, it is still relatively high. The decline in the rate of unemployment in the past five years is attributed to the addition of jobs by employers, though most of them are part time and low paying. This rate is also fueled by the decline in portion ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Loyalty And Chivalry Throughout The Middle Ages Throughout the Middle Ages, wealth and status granted by God was the main defining feature of power within a hierarchical status, yet within all upper levels of society, the concepts that defined individuals and groups were that of honour, and military prowess. These two concepts also incorporate ideas of manners and morals for those of higher standard within society to practice. All together this can be incorporated into the idea of chivalry, a word and idea commonly used within medieval Europe to describe a set of values with a large emphasis on upholding high social and moral standards, as well as devout loyalty to God and liege. The organizational structure of the American Red Cross needs to be taught that ethical compliance is its first priority; otherwise issues will continue to present themselves when the ARC is needed most. Especially when some of the characters may look way too similar to each other. In this manga, the first time I was getting confused on who was who, especially when adding their zodiac character. After becoming accustomed to manga for 3 years, I was able to come back and reread the manga and have no confusion. Tohru Honda is the young orphan girl who meets Yuki, Kyo, and Shigure Sohma. This is where all their lives change and Tohru finds about the curse of the Sohma turning into the zodiac animals when weak or hugged by the opposite sex. The beginning is great, it caught my attention throughout the whole story, however, as the last chapter was coming closer it felt as though the story was finished in a hurry. My face was full of confusion and questions were rising when I completed the manga. The story starts off with Tohru wanting to help the Sohma family to find a way to break the curse, in the end, she succeeds. How? Is my question. they made it so ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One namely Diesel fuel has power big rigs that our country depends on to transport merchandise and goods. It seems like it is part of the American way of life burning more than 1 billion dollars worth of oil per day. An estimated 10 percent of that is consumed by big rig trucks. The United States military also used diesel for a majority of its craft and vehicles. That is a large amount of oil and that is why there is research being done looking for alternative options to keep the country going. The topics at hand are natural gas and liquid natural gas. Details and science of natural gas It goes without saying that there are many skeptics that argue liquid natural gas deposits create just as much emissions as coal and oil. The main thing in natural gas is methane which is much more potent than carbon dioxide. Natural gas comes from dense rock clusters known as shale. Energy drilling is really quite simple. It starts out with deposits of natural gas found deep in the ground. Scientists find these deposits using various methods like looking for seismic energy and magnetic traces. Once a probable deposited is found the drilling or energy company drills deep into the earth s crust to reach it. The next part is hard because after the hole is drilled the gas will not simply flow out of the hole. The natural gas is in the shale ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 38. The Mongol Empire And The Empire Of The Mongol Empire Mongols Chinggis Khan founded the Mongol Empire in 1206 A.D. this was the rise of nomadic pastoral societies in the north. The Mongol s established the largest contiguous empire in the Neolithic era. The Mongol Empire was notable for their military power, their diplomatic protection, and safe travel. These notable features aided the growth and expansion of the empire. The Mongols conquest left a trail of blood and destruction. For a century, the Mongol Empire cultivated for the first time East West contact. I will further discuss the primary sources and secondary sources of the Mongol Empire. The Mongols encouraged trade and often moved craftsmen and other specialists from one place to another. Trade was essential to the Mongols, they started issuing a paizi (modern day passports) to government officials, foreigners they traded with, and the nobles who would travel along the Mongol territory. The Mongol Empire encouraged a wider distribution of good and idea, so officials made sure the travel routes were as safe as possible. In addition, commodities such as silk could be purchased at lower prices because the cost of travel and security decreased. The primary reason for these passports was to ensure safety along the trade routes of the Mongol empire. The paizi is a metal plaque made of iron and silver inlay, it had to worn around the neck, so it was visible. The inscription says, by the strength of eternal heaven, an edict of the Emperor. • 39. Spanish Civil War Essay Spanish Civil War (1936 39), military revolt against the Republican government of Spain, supported by conservative elements within the country. When an initial military coup failed to win control of the entire country, a bloody civil war ensued, fought with great ferocity on both sides. The Nationalists, as the rebels were called, received aid from fascist Italy and Nazi Germany. The Republicans received aid from the Soviet Union, as well as from International Brigades, composed of volunteers from Europe and the United States. The war was an outcome of a polarization of Spanish life and politics that had developed over previous decades. On one side (the Nationalist) were most Roman Catholics, important elements of the military, most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The matter of how many were killed remains highly contentious; however, it is generally believed that the toll of Nationalist violence was higher. In any event, the proliferation of executions, murders, and assassinations on both sides reflects the great passions that the Civil War unleashed. The captaincy of the Nationalists was gradually assumed by General Franco, leading forces he had brought from Morocco. On October 1, 1936, he was named head of state and set up a government in Burgos. The Republican government, beginning in September 1936, was headed by the socialist leader Francisco Largo Caballero. He was followed in May 1937 by Juan Negrín, also a socialist, who remained premier throughout the remainder of the war and served as premier in exile until 1945. The president of the Spanish Republic until nearly the end of the war was Manuel Azaña, an anticlerical liberal. Internecine conflict compromised the Republican effort from the outset. On one side were the anarchists and militant socialists, who viewed the war as a revolutionary struggle and spearheaded widespread collectivization of agriculture, industry, and services; on the other were the more moderate socialists and republicans, whose objective was the preservation of the Republic. Seeking allies against the threat of Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union had embraced a Popular Front strategy, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Stress is always fraught in life. Having a stress free life is impossible, but having a stress free day is possible through running. The calming noises of ambient sounds of nature and the pitter patter of one s footsteps seem to have a calming effect. I have had days where my stress has driven me over the edge, and there is only one way I can get rid of it, running. Anger and stress fuel me as I race out the door and release it throughout the next hour. My heart pumps rapidly as I take off down the road. My lungs find a rhythm of breathing and I can feel the anger slowly leaving my body like a pulse from each slap of a foot. According to howtobefit.com, After 20 minutes of exercise the brain starts releasing epinephrine and endorphins into the system, which lower tension and help stress stabilization. So for only twenty minutes a day one can begin to relieve stress from something that can usually cause stress. Many see the foible of running, for they believe it is repetitive and boring. Those who say that have a good point. After all, one is just moving quickly down a long, straight, unchanging asphalt road with no electronics to play with or nothing to eat or drink. They do not understand that running is very versatile ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
