Five Waves Up Analysis
The two poems Five A.M. and Five Flights Up portray the speakers reflections on their early morning
surroundings. Each poet uses his reflection as a means of communicating his unique state of mind.
The poets distinguish their reflections and respective states of mind by narrating in different points of
view and by incorporating rhetorical questions and personifications that uniquely capture the vitality
of the early morning. In the first poem Five A.M. , the speaker distinguishes his reflection on his early
morning surroundings by consistently narrating from the first person point of view. The poet uses
phrases such as I pass , My feet begin , which suggest that the speaker is in an active mind set, taking

Truman Made the Right Choice
President Harry Truman s use of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan during the
Second World War is the most controversial decision in history. While it was an undoubtedly difficult
decision, it was indeed necessary in order to end this six year war that had ravaged the world. While
many critics argue that the bomb was used primarily as an act of vengeance toward Japan, simplifying
such a crucial moment in human history downplays the very real threat Japan posed to the United
States. While avoiding strained relations with the other Allied countries, Truman had to assess the
possible danger of the Soviet Union in a post war world. Furthermore, the possibility of an arms race,
the moral implications of using this weapon, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The response of the panel to which the concern was sent was that the use of the bomb would be an
obvious means of saving American lives and shortening the war. While these scientists did not agree
on the issue of its use, all believed it was necessary to control this new technology through
international cooperation. Due to the aforementioned increasing tensions between the two emerging
superpowers, an issue of great concern was if, how and when to approach the Soviets with the news of
the Manhattan Project. In spite of the differences between the Soviets and the United States, by
Truman s main concern was keeping unity amongst the Big Three , realizing that ending the war
depended on the support of both Britain and the Soviet Union. The Interim Committee unanimously
agreed that Truman should inform of the development of the weapon and our plans to use it against
the enemy. They did not advise giving the Soviets specific details of the project, only informing them
in order to enlist Russian cooperation in the set up of future international controls of this new
technology. Of course, because of the terms of the Quebec Agreement, it would also be necessary to
discuss this with Churchill. The continuation of keeping facts from the Soviet Union in spite of the
alliance

The Discovery Of Economy Essay
It is a pristine tradition that much matters to a nation, when it comes to issues irrelevant to human
development. Speaking in terms of reality, the economic boom of a nation is what human development
all about.
Now let us profoundly analyze what exactly is the economic boom of a nation. As we begin our
analysis, it is highly important for the reader to be enlightened with the fact that it is necessary to think
the right way if he has to understand this immensely valuable message. The reader will have to
discredit all economic and political concepts and thoughts in considering the planet earth as a single
nation and its people as just its citizens with no individual nationalities. Thinking this way alone can
make this message more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We are the sole root cause for the bias in the standard of living in the USA with that of Nigeria or
Somalia or any other impoverished region of this earth.
According to the modern concept and thought, every one of us is keenly interested to know how
nature has created us and how the universe came into existence but none has ever tried to wonder at
the interrogative word why . Why has nature created us together on a single planet, why not Blacks,
Whites, Asians, the Yellow race and the Semitic race, each on a different planet? It was the duty of the
dynamic and charismatic leadership of this world to teach humanity how to peacefully co exist and
mutually live on this earth as unified, uniform and united body of humanity. Was it not possible for the
nature that devised everything in order, to create life on other planets in our planetary neighborhood?
With these questions on our minds we can easily arrive at a conclusion that we the citizens of the
nation earth are a single nation and one family. The cream of this world s entire human layers, masses
and races irrespective of nationality or religion were destined to demonstrate the planet earth and its
people from any nook and corner of its expanse that they are its citizens, the earthlings.

Byod Mobile Plan For Wickid Candles
WickID Candles is a candle company that features customizable candles that can define a person s
mood or personality hence the ID in the name. This franchise currently has twenty five stores in five
states (North Carolina, Massachusetts, New York, Illinois, and Washington). WickID Candles has 500
employees that work in one of our five departments. The departments vary from sales, advertising,
accounting, manufacturing, and transportation. Even though our manufacturing and transportation
crews work together, they are two separate teams. In addition, our sales department also has two
individual groups within the department. The first group of employees focus on in store sales, while

If WickID Candles implements the BYOD plan, each employee would be able to use their personal
cell phones for work purposes. They will be used to keep up with the workplace environment at home
or whenever they are out of the office. This will allow to them have access to personal work data
whether via their work email or access to the company s personal sites. With BYOD, employees
would be able to use their mobile devices to interact with customers, manage accounts, and even
create new aspects of our online store. This plan would potentially give workers the flexibility to work
at the leisure of their homes and to continue to work without being tied to the office. Our goal is that
this will increase engagement with customers and increase work productivity. IBM states that there are
three main benefits of BYOD. There s an increase in productivity and innovation, employees are
satisfied, and the company can sometimes save money. Keep in mind that the benefits all depend on
the situation. When employees are motivated to work, productivity is high. According to IBM,
employees are more comfortable with their personal phones and tend to have upgraded versions. The
enterprise will then benefit from the latest features on the employees phones allowing them to be more
productive. With that,

Theme Of Hope In The Shawshank Redemption
Hope is the intrinsic aspiration of attaining one s wants and needs, and the stringent factor that
determines, not who someone is but how their character is sculpted, and is hence an attribute of all
humanbeings that is essential for the development of traits such as perseverance and resilliance,
whereas the absense of hope can result in failure, fear, despair and even one s demise. Fear can hold
you prisoner. Hope can set you free , but concurruently, Hope is a dangerous thing. Hope can drive a
man insane. Frank Darabont s The Shawshank Redemption (1994) perfectly exhibits this perspective
on the human condition, through the directorial choices of; the portrayal of characters and
characterisation, film techniques and technical elements, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ellis Boyd Red Redding fears hope throughout Darabont s film because of it s proposed capability to
destroy him, represented through his beliefs that there is no place for hope in Shawshank. Moreover,
underlying themes such as institutionalisation corroborate this speculation, as a secondary character
Brooks Hatlen lives in a state of despair following his release from Shawshank State after 50 years.
He has such an outstanding lack of hope, that results in his dependance on Shawshank to the point
where he chooses to end his life rather than live in the free world. In Unbroken Jolie characterises and
portrays the character of Francis Mac McNamara as the result of the abandonment of hope. Mac
shows signs of despair and fear throughout his stranding in the Pacific Ocean with Louis, becoming
far more physically emaciated, depressed and weak consequently dying long before Louis. The writer
of the book Jolie s Unbroken is based off, Laura Hillenbrand explicitly states men are not defined by
themselves, but by their captors and the circumstances in which they are forced to live , conditions
that most men will have lost their minds in. Within the film characers such as Warden Norton of
Shawshank State and Mutsuhiro Watanabe of the Omori prison camp personify the oppression of hope
the protagonists are forced to

The Effects Of Sports Injuries On Sports
Technology in sports has been advancing rapidly all throughout the years. These advancements have
allowed sports fans to have an even better experience watching their teams play and compete.
Although these advancements like instant replay cameras, goal line technology, and better sportswear
have come in to use, there still has not been that much progress in dealing with injuries especially
dealing with head injuries like concussions. Sports injuries have been found to occur in approximately
3% of all elementary school students, 7% of all junior high students and 11% of high school students
involved in sport ing activities. Twenty percent of these injuries were considered by medical personnel
to be serious. It is well recognized that repetitive head impacts occur in a number of different sports.
The sports most frequently cited for repetitive head impact trauma are football and boxing (Janda,
David H). It is mainly a big topic discussion in the American Football community because it has been
proved that every hit a player takes causes some kind of brain damage. Although the critics mainly
focus on the NFL, there is another type of football they have overseen. It otherwise known as soccer
in the United States and not as popular as it is all across the world. There also have been a serious of
major head injuries in this sport and they have to be addressed because they should be a concern for
everyone who plays the sport. Soccer is the world s most popular team sport in the

How Did Van Morrison Impact Society
If I were to ask you to recall an artist or band off of the top of your head that was most popular in the
60 s, I would probably hear the same two bands repeated to me over and over again. These two bands
would be the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, and yes they did both have a great impact on the music
industry and society as a whole then and now, but they were not the only artists who positively
impacted the world as we know it today. One of the artists whom had and/or has said impact, is Van
Morrison. Van, in general, is a very brilliant musician and has broken through so many walls that
constrict any artist to just one genre of music. Every single one of his 35 albums has a different sound
to it, and this definitely allowed many artists, such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bono, the lead vocalist of the band U2, has even stated that in times of creating music, that he had to
put down some of Van s albums in order to create his own music. Or in exact words Sometimes they
can even be an overwhelming influence: Bono said that he had to stop listening to Morrison s records
before making U2 s The Unforgettable Fire because I didn t want his very original soul voice to
overpower my own. (ROLLING STONES). Van Morrison has also had a large, and very important
influence on singer songwriters in not just America, but the world as a whole. Since Van has written
most, if not all, of his music so far in his career, the depths of his music have almost set a standard for
rising artists to reach, or even overcome. Songwriting can be a tricky process to match up with
instruments, and with the capability that Van possesses, this set the future of any singer songwriter at
an all time high, which definitely allows us today to experience some works of art that reach this level
of high quality music and definite

Lewis s Mere Christianity With Its Complex Themes And...
After reflecting on C.S. Lewis s Mere Christianity with its complex themes and wording, I thought
that reading N.T. Wright s Simply Jesus would be an understandable breath of fresh air. However this
book raised more questions in my mind and beliefs than Mere Christianity ever did. Wright asks a lot
of poignant questions in the book in regards to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and in turn triggers
even more questions in his readers. He captures the nature of a 21st century Christian perfectly. Like it
or not we are a doubting group who question everything in our society whether that be politics,
relationships, or religion.
While reading Part One of Simply Jesus I had a nagging thought growing in the back of my mind.
With every page I read it became stronger and more prominent until it was a clearly formed question;
why did God not prepare the world for the coming of Christ better? Now of course I know that there
were prophesies and foreshadowing of Christ but my question is not why did God not say there would
be a savior, because He did, but rather why did He not give the people some more information. Ever
since I was a child I have heard over and over again that the people of Israel did not believe that Jesus
was the Messiah was because they were expecting something else. Even Wright says on page one of
Simply Jesus, He was not the King they expected . I just cannot help but wonder why God never told
the people what to expect. How hard would it have been to tell the

Connor Mcdavid Character
When Connor McDavid met with the media at the Bell Centre before Sunday afternoon s game
against the Canadiens, he looked like your typical, 20 year old Canadian kid.
A little awkward physically as he continues to grow into his body at 6 foot 1 and 190 pounds, soft
spoken and battling a bit of acne. But there s nothing typical about McDavid once he hits the ice.
The young Edmonton captain didn t score a goal as the Oilers beat the Canadiens 1 0 in a shootout,
but he was named the first star and was exciting to watch every time he hit the ice, logging 25:07. He
had a game high six shots on goal and drew three penalties with his blazing speed.

He s got the weight of the world on him, to be perfectly honest. He handles himself with poise and
grace and respect and love of the game, and it s great to see a young guy like him in his 20s really
enjoy and love coming to the rink and competing every day to be the best player he can be. As an
older guy now, it s something that you can feed off of and I think that s what s made him a great leader
and a good captain so far.
So, what did McDavid do on his Saturday night in Montreal?
Not too much ... just kind of hung out, he said. It s definitely a fun city and a good place to be at, but
you got to keep it pretty serious.
McDavid still has close friends back home in Richmond Hill, Ont., who just go to school and do
normal teenage things. They must be living vicariously through their superstar friend, no?
I think it s kind of the other way around, McDavid said. I kind of live through them on Saturday nights
when you re in bed by 9. You wake up and hear the stories and I think they definitely follow what I m
doing and stuff like that. But they re all having a good time and doing their thing.
So is McDavid. He s just not your typical

nation dealing with developmental disabilities, understanding what they are facing is important. The

Macbeth And Wuthering Heights
Crooked Relationships
Why are women so controlling in everything? In William Shakespeare s Macbeth and Emily Bronte s
Wuthering Heights, the women take control, over men, in the relationship. Sexism and jealousy are
the two biggest problems in an existing relationship. The readers find out how ambition, sexism, and
jealousy takes over lives. In other words, too much ambition may be fatal.
When women don t get what they want, bad things are subject to happen. Women will always rule in
the face of the earth until none are left. Lady Macbeth rules the relationship over Macbeth himself.
She wanted her husband, Macbeth, to kill Duncan, but he wasn t going for it at all. Lady Macbeth

Actually, men do a lot more for their lady than anyone else. However, for Lady Macbeth, that s not
enough for her taste. Lady Macbeth quotes, Come to woman s breasts/ And take my milk for gall, you

so she can do the things that her husband, Macbeth, won t do.
Just like how ambition took over on Macbeth, it took over his wife, Lady Macbeth, too. The readers of
Macbeth know how too much ambition can go two ways. In Lady Macbeth s situation, ambition has
become very bad for him. Thomas quotes, The unsex me here passage... Lady Macbeth s invocation
parallels the witches earlier ones. Through her positioning and dress, she becomes essentially a fourth
witch (Thomas 85). Thomas says that she becomes a witch because she was secretly a part of the
desperate murder of Duncan.
When two people love each other, the relationship is usually going to last. When only one person is

Catherine because Heathcliff doesn t love her.

Indi The Biggest Film Industry
Bollywood is almost a religion for the people who live in India; it is the biggest film industry in terms
of sale. As Dagnaud and Fiegelson describe the situation, Ranking number one in the world for the
film production, being part of the top group of the cinema enthusiast nations, endowed with T.V.
channels and with a music industry full of dynamism, India has thus developed an entertainment
industry of large size movies playing the role of a launching pad. According to the Telecom
Regulatory Authority of India , 2013 figures show that India is the 14th largest entertainment and
media industry in the world. This national revenue contributes to about 1% of the global entertainment
and media s GDP. Bollywood is one of the largest and most successful industries in the world which
has been running for 100 years, 2008 figures show that the Indian Film industry has grown by 17%
over the course of three years (2004 2007). The toe curling embarrassment we face when one of these
sensual performances are broadcasted during family TV time makes me wonder why it s
uncomfortable to watch women perform item numbers like Baby Doll and not have a problem when
watching scenes similar to Dostana when John Abraham is swimming in trunks. Is this because of the
stereotypes that Indian society has about how decent women should behave? Or is it due to the
vulgarity of the performance? The story and themes of Bollywood movies traditionally portray the
culture of religion; this has now

Pros And Cons Of Case Studies
1. Study Background a. Pros and Cons of Case Studies Case studies, whilst a very simple way of
performing studies, have multiple pros alongside the cons. Firstly, due to the simplicity of the study
design (i.e. simple picking apart one case study rather than needing to collect data from multiple
sources about multiple patients), complex concepts are usually simplified greatly.1 It erases the need
to collect data that would be needed for other study designs for more complex patients and situations.
In more complex or rarer cases, it may take a long time to collect this data. This means that case
studies ensure documentation and discussion surrounding rare conditions and cases. They also mean
that the teaching or study is based around real life situations as opposed to learning from how patients
are supposed to present. It is a good way to show that not everybody follows the textbook norm of
disease presentation and progression.2 Case presentations can also act as a good reference point for if
you come across a patient in a similar situation. They provide experimental learning and also help to
stimulate learning by reading the case study and evaluating the outcome. It helps to dissect whether, if
the situation would repeat itself in the same way, the same or similar outcome would occur in a
different patient. They can help to ensure continued development of new ideas of treatment and
management protocols. Data collected from case studies is normally much more in depth that

Transformer Metaphor
For many decades, the US military has, engaged with Hollywood s movies by giving permission to
their production crews to use their military machines and techniques. Black Hawk Down was about
the US military, Top Gun was about the Navy, and Iron Man was about the Air Force (McMillen).
These kinds of movies are regarded as joint military force movies, and one of the largest joint military
movies is Transformers, which was released in 2007. The third series was recently released, which is
now being processed into a 3D version to be released in the coming months. The movie series

The Transformers series goes further than most other war movies by delivering the US government s
war policy directly to the audience. This amplifies the military s reason for supporting these movies.
They wish to advertise their military policy which has been an extremely controversial issue around
the world, and show off their power by using science fiction movies. The benefit of the science fiction
genre is that it can convey an omnipotent military futurism (Butler). Michael Bay, the director of the
Transformers series, is well known for using political issues in his movies, and Transformers: The
Dark of the Moon (2010) has the strongest political sense in the series of the movies. In Transformers
3, the United States Army emerged like a phoenix from Northern Iraq in 2016, winning the battle of
Aqaba in 2025. This leads to an approval of America to defeat the most difficult enemy, the
Decepticons. In these scenes, some of the dialogues show the American military s current policy in
direct ways. Dialogues between President Andrew Exum, Secretary Messerschmidt of the Battle of

military policy toward other nations, which could be interpreted

Analysis Of The Scarlet Ibis
I did not know then that pride is a wonderful, terrible thing, a seed that bears two vines, life and death
. The Scarlet Ibis is a short story that was set in 1918 and it was written by the author, James Hurst.
The story is about a young boy (that goes by Brother in this story) who receives a younger brother by
the name of William Armstrong. From the start, Brother noticed something off about his younger
brother. It is believed that the young boy had a condition called Hydrocephalus , also known as water
on the brain. He is believed to have this condition because his head is significantly larger than his
body and that is an effect of Hydrocephalus. Due to his condition, the boy was not able to do much of
anything. Brother thought that the name William Armstrong was not very fitting for the young boy, so
he decided to rename him Doodle. As the story progresses, Brother tries his hardest to make Doodle
able to do the things that a normal boy can do. In the end of the story, Doodle dies. It is arguable of
whether or not Brother was responsible for Doodle s death or not. Even though most people believe
that Doodle s death was caused by the storm or just his condition, Brother was responsible for Doodle
s death.
Some people may argue that Brother was not responsible for Doodle s death. This is one of the most
controversial topics for the story The Scarlet Ibis . Everyone has their own opinion about what caused
the death of Doodle. There are some significant things within the story that would clue to the fact that
something else was responsible for Doodle s death. There are some people that believe the parents are
responsible for the death of Doodle and on the other hand, some people believe that the storm that
came in the story near the end is what killed him. Evidence can be found in the text that can back up
most of these theories but the evidence that points to Brother being responsible for Doodle s death is
overwhelming. For example, there is a moment within the story where Brother shows his parents that
Doodle can walk and when his father asks why he is crying he says They didn t know that I did it just
for myself, that Doodle walked only because I was ashamed of having a crippled brother. This shows

The University Of British Columbia
Introduction:
Since the human history enter into the 20th century, people realize that the finite of industrial
production, and the significance of the diversity; therefore, pursuing sustainability is one of the most
significant goal for people to make efforts. However, achieving the goal is not easy, many factors have
restriction on achieving sustainability, such as economics, politics, and culture. Because of so many
restrictions on the achievement of sustainability, coordination is necessary. In these days, many
universities try to make the sustainability happen. The university of British Columbia has been
working to explore the sustainability for many years, and plan to advance the sustainability on their
campus and beyond. To make the success of the environmental sustainability, they treat their campus
as an interconnected system. They plan to transform the campus into a sustainable lab room because
they believe that sustainable is not only a word to define but also a way to interact with the world.
They want to become a social test bed for sustainability. It required the coordination of the entire
campus to meet their commitment. The transportation management, green building design, sustainable
residential community and engaging students, staff, and faculties all work together to achieve their
goal.
In term of environmental sustainability, the university of British Columbia has practiced on many
fields; however, the climate and energy, water, and recycling wastes are

The Effectiveness of Home Schooling
I. Introduction
According to the National Home Education Research Institute (NHERI), the number of
homeschoolers rose up to 300,000 in 1992 to an estimated 2 million in 2003. Homeschooling has been
around since 1960s, created by John Holt, a humanist. He believes that homeschooling is one of the
greatest educational movements of our time. Supporters love the idea of students being homeschooled
rather than being exposed to public schools because they believe that homeschooling students will
boost their test scores and help lessen their insecurities. However, others believe homeschooling
students lack the ability to socialize and interact with the community. ... Show more content on

Even, significant figures such as Senator Rick Santorum and Rep. Marilyn Musgrave encouraged the
religious home schooling movement. They all helped overturn the law that banned homeschooling,
which is now legal in all 50 states.
III. Religious Purposes There are many motivating factors as to why people support homeschooling.
One reason for homeschooling students is to ensure their child s values are the same as theirs.
Homeschoolers are taught to think in a certain way and to believe certain things. Many parents have
chosen home schooling in an effort to encourage specific religious values, and in some cases to avoid
exposing their children to perceived cultural and irreligious precepts and ideologies (Stevenson 3).
Parents want to protect their children from subjection to ideas of religious values. They want to raise
their children in a safe, controlled environment. The vast majority of individual homeschooling for
religious reasons are doing so to teach their children Christian values and principles. Although the
home schooling population is far from homogenous, it is fair to say that many parents who pull their
children out of traditional schools do so because they wish to protect them from exposure to ideas and
influences that they feel are incompatible with their own morals or religious values (Lee and
McMahon 3). They want to remove secular influences from their children s lives because they are
concerned that other

Leiningen Versus The Ants Essay
Leiningen Versus The Ants
Would you risk your own life and the lives of another 400 people just so you might have a chance at
saving a coffee plantation? Well that s what Leiningen did in the short story Leiningen Versus the Ants
. And by doing so he has proved himself to be an over confident, persuasive, and sexist man. And is
not a person to be admired.
In this story Leiningen has shown himself as an extremely over confident person. From the time he
was aware of the impending danger of the ants, to when he was almost willing to give it all up he still
believed that he could conquer them. This is show on the very first page of the story where Leiningen

This is shown when he says, Well, lads, we ve lost the first round. But we ll smash the beggars yet,

rafts enough and to spare on the river and plenty of time to still reach em. The choice was all theirs,
but they were bought into the fact of security and higher wages if they stayed with Leiningen, and that
was good enough for the peons.
And the last major characteristic that was apparent was that Leiningen was a sexist man. In the
beginning of the story he stated, Act of God, my eye! Anyway, I m not an old woman; I m not going to
run for it just because an elemental s on the way. And he later said, Critical situations first become
crises, when oxen or women get excited. These two statements show that Leiningen thinks of himself
to be more important that any woman or beast. He believes that he is helping the situation by sending
the oxen and women away, but by today s standards he is being sexist by degrading women with his
remarks, and excluding them from the fight where they could have been very useful.
Through these three characteristics, Leiningen has been proven to be an over all normal person

Hilary Clinton s End
The circus that has captivated our attention for over a year has finally ceased. On Tuesday night, the
Presidential Election came to an end, with Trump coming out victorious. The three articles by the New
York Times depict how the majority of America felt before and after the election.
The first article, written the day before the election by Michael Barbaro, Ashley Parker and Amy
Chozick, was titled, Optimism From Hilary Clinton and Darkness From Donald Trump at Campaign s
End . The title of this piece oozed the confidence that Hilary Clinton would win the Presidential
Election. The article portrays the election as over, with Hilary Clinton coming out victorious.
Throughout the piece the authors used a story telling tone. For instance, they used embellishing words
like, frenzied, clashing, sprawling (Barbaro). The New York Times certainty of Hilary winning is
shown through multiple quotes. To illustrate this, the authors write about ... Show more content on

represents a key character in the story, also known as the protagonist. This story discusses a loveless
and repressive marriage between Mrs. Louise Mallard and Mr. Brently Mallard. This identifies as
unusual, considering that in this time period society deemed that a woman simply could not live
without a man. Kate Chopin introduces Mrs. Mallard as an independent yet repressed woman, which
automatically infers problems between the married couple. Mrs. Mallard unveils her true self after
losing her husband. She becomes overwhelmed with independence and awaits the new possibilities of
living a life she can claim her own. Mrs. Mallard represents a woman who struggles with personal
independence, emotional sufferings, and physical ailments. Mrs. Mallard feels trapped in an
oppressive marriage. When Mr. Mallard passes she feels a sense of vast independence. She embraces
her new life after death experience and discovers a newfound sense of freedom. In The Story of an
Hour Kate Chopin clarifies Mrs. Mallard s emotions after her husband s death by stating, Into this she

Different Phases Of Solar And Magnetic Activity Cycles
CHAPTER 2 Cosmic Ray Modulation during Different Phases of Solar and Magnetic Activity Cycles
INTRODUCTION Cosmic rays are modulated as they traverse into the heliosphere. Measurements
have shown that cosmic ray intensity varies on different time scales. On a longer time scale, the
cosmic ray intensity variations in anti phase with solar activity having ≈ 11 year cyclicity is well
known and studied extensively (e.g., see Venkatesan and Badruddin, 1990; Storini et al., 1995;
Usoskin et al., 1998; Mavromichalaki et al., 1998; Kane, 2003; Sabbah and Rybansky, 2006; Ma et al.,
2009; Chaudhary et al., 2011; Kudela, 2012). In addition, the ≈ 22 year modulation cycle in cosmic
ray flux due to solar magnetic field polarity reversals is observed and modeled (e.g., Jokipii and
Thomas, 1981; Potgieter and Moraal, 1985; Webber and Lockwood, 1988; Potgieter, 1995; Cliver and
Ling, 2001; Laurenza et al., 2012). However, in order to understand these phenomena, it is important
to understand how cosmic ray transport and propagation vary with the solar activity and solar
magnetic polarity (Heber, 2013). Although sunspots have been used as a convenient index of solar
activity, anti correlated with cosmic ray intensity, it has been recognized that they are not intrinsically
related to the problem of solar modulation of cosmic rays. However, the diffusion coefficient changes
during ≈ 11 year sunspot cycle, being smaller during periods of high solar activity than

The Song Analysis Of Where Is The Love
The song Where Is The Love by the Black Eyed Peas is a very heartfelt prayer for the healing and
suffering in the world and society that we live in. I feel like the song is about exactly what the title is
asking. Where is the love? Sometimes we have to stop, look around us and think about the
relationships we have with other people. Are our relationships built on foundations of true love,
compassion and kindness? Although the songs was originally released in 2003, most of the issues the
song focuses on are still relevant today, in 2017. Which really makes me wonder, where IS the love?
Surely after 14 years, things would have changed. Hate and war have existed since the beginning of
humanity. Crime is an enormous part of our society, in the past and in the present. Imagine a world
that is crime free, the perfect utopia. A world where everyone accepts their neighbour for the person
they truly are, without racism, without judgement, without oppression. Where is the love? recognizes
chaos in a broken world, intoxicated with violence and hate.
The song opens with the lyrics, What s wrong with the world Mama, people livin like they ain t got no
Mama, I think the whole world s addicted to Drama, only attracted to the things that will bring them
trauma For me the lyric about No Mama The people of today s society don t know how to behave
properly. We lack knowledge and understanding of the world. We don t pay attention to anyone but
ourselves. We don t know right from wrong. We are completely oblivious to what this world is turning
into and all we are doing are things that hurt ourselves and others. This lyric about having No Mama
saddens me as there are a lot of people out there in this world who do not have a mother to guide them
on the right path. We need a mother figure in our life because having a mother teaches us basic life
lessons that allow us to survive and be a good person. Such as to always say please and thank you,
respect people, be kind and love your neighbour. I can not relate to not having a mother figure in my
life as I have had the same amazing mother my whole life. She has taught me from the moment I was
born, to treat everyone equally, be kind, and respect and love everyone. To this

Prevention And Treatment Of Periodontal Disease
Introduction
Periodontal disease is one of the most common chronic inflammatory diseases and is also the second
most frequent cause of tooth loss among adults. The toxins produced by bacteria stimulate an
inflammatory response in which the body turns upon itself and results in the supporting tissues of the
teeth being progressively destroyed. Periodontal disease is multifactorial and susceptibility is
dependent on the composition of individual s microflora together with specific local and systemic risk
factors. Local risk factors include any plaque retentive features which hinders plaque removal such as
crowding, calculus, overhangs and orthodontic appliance. Systemic risk factors include diabetes,
genetic and smoking. Smoking is an important risk factor for the initiation and progression of
periodontal diseases and a number of researches have demonstrated the detrimental effect of smoking
on patient s periodontal status as well as their response to periodontal treatment.
Content of cigarette
Smoking has widespread systemic effects as it contains over 4000 toxic chemicals including Benzene,
Formaldehyde and Ammonia. Benzene is a solvent used in making fuel, Formaldehyde is used to
preserve dead bodies and Ammonia can be found in cleaning fluids. There are also potent carcinogens
such as Nitrosamines and Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. The component of inhaled smoke
includes nicotine, carbon monoxide and tar. Nicotine has numerous effects such as increasing blood

The Mystery Of Vampires From Folklore Tales
Ideas, beliefs, and theories of monsters have been a part of culture since the dawn of mankind. Over
time, these gothic entities transformed into specific characters with names, features, and appearances.
One particular monster that sustained themselves over time have been vampires. In fact, stories of
vampires have been with civilization for centuries.
The exact origin of vampires is unknown and there have been many speculations and theories of these
monsters origins. Many scholars believe that vampires originated from folklore tales, which spread all
throughout Europe, Asia, Africa, England, and Ireland. In addition, early civilizations associated
vampires with unexplained events such as death, disease, and misfortune.
Scholars would theorize vampires were ways ancient people would associate with uncanny events that

perspectives to the ideas about Beowulf as an epic hero, and his fate, but he also incorporates his own

The third and final trial takes places with the second part of the poem. This part of the poem follows
Beowulf fifty years in the future when he becomes king of the Danes. He now is characterized by
more wisdom than heroism, however, the final challenge awakens the aged hero to fight again. During
his final encounter with evil he faces a dragon which protects a giant hoard of treasure. Although the
battle with the dragon only lasts ten pages it is greatly significant to the context of fate. Similarly to
Beowulf s embodiment of good, the dragon has distinct elements that create a truly evil, greedy, and
dangerous character. The dragon could almost could be said to represent the fundamentally evil nature
of mankind by his greed, malice, and protection of the treasure. The dragon s extremely evil nature he
is truly a sufficient trial for the perfect hero to defeat. The destructiveness of the dragon requires
Beowulf to meet him in battle. Just as the dragon is the perfect villain for the hero to face, he also
serves as the perfect inflictor of Beowulf s fate. Beowulf is transformed by greed and thus his destiny

The Revolution Was A Huge Period Of Change From 1775-1783
The American Revolution was a huge period of change from 1775 1783. The revolution was
extremely revolutionary in some cases. At other times, the reevolution didn t change anything.
America would not be the America it is today if the revolution didn t change the style of government.
America would be a country ran by a king if it weren t for revolutionary change of government. On
the other hand, the revolution did absolutely nothing for slaves and blacks. The laws that were set in
the 1780 s against slavery were way too lenient and that allowed no change to occur. It is evident that
the revolution was revolutionary and it wasn t at the same time.
The ideas about government, are one of the major changes that took place during the revolution.
Although many people do not see how revolutionary the ideas of government actually were, ending a

Everybody loves Christmas. The suspense of not knowing what is under the wrapping paper drives us

But why do loved ones give each other gifts? In O Henry s short story The Gift of the Magi, two
young lovers sacrifice their own most prized possessions to get the other a Christmas gift. Ironically,
each one gets the other a gift to be used for their prized possession; however, the gifts cannot be used
because they no longer have any use. Author O Henry uses irony to enhance, or magnify, the true
meaning of Christmas: to selflessly give to someone you love to show your love for them.

The Baroque style helped change the role of the viewers. Italian Renaissance kept viewers at a

by accident. While the morning after pill is not the ideal contraception solution for women who
regularly have unprotected sex, it is good for restricted usage. Also, the morning after pill is strictly a

Well, as the very name suggests, the morning after pill should be taken preferably within 12 hours
after a contraceptive accident. However, you can also take it within 72 hours of having an unprotected
sex. It works towards preventing pregnancy in the following three ways:
The pill temporarily stops the release of an egg from the ovary
It prevents fertilization
It prevents a fertilized egg from attaching to the uterus
Having said that, the morning after pill is in, no way, an abortion pill and therefore it will never

Benefits and Side Effects
The best part of using the morning after pill is that it is quite reliable as compared to the other methods
of contraception after unprotected sex. All you need to do is just take one pill and that too within a
given span of time. For most women, taking the morning after pill once in a while causes no harm.
With that being said, for women who have a medical history of being allergic to the active ingredients
contained in the pill, intake of the pill should be avoided. Some of the other side effects may include

Card Application process. Consequently ensuring a high voter turnout. This high turnout is hence
achieved when most of the citizens are registered as voters. When this registration process has
minimal loopholes and discrepancies, the number of those who are registered is automatically
increased. So this is one of the duties of the commission as far as the voters are concerned.
The duties of the commission towards elections are to make them totally free and fair. Such duties

living in the same constituency remain in the electoral list of that constituency and those who have
passed away or shifted to other assemblies be removed from the concerned voters list.
Alongside revising the electoral rolls, these Voter Registration Drives for Voter ID Card Bihar and
Gujarat aim at issuing fresh EPICs and verifiable voter slips to all the eligible voters so that none of

The Importance Of Silence In Human Interaction
Silence in human interaction is an extremely complex construct. Silence can have numerous
conceptual meanings ranging from complete acceptance to complete rejection. It can be an indication
of a person s pace of thought or understanding (Johannesen, 1974; Tannen, 1993). As a
communicative vehicle, silence carries a hidden component in every verbalisation (Zeligs, 1953).
Before we can consider its effects on the recipient, we first need to put context to the specific
interpretation of silence with regards to this study. In this case we are examining the effect on the
interviewer as a recipient in a suspect interview.
Silence is commonly associated with punishment and negative behaviour. When children misbehave,
they are told to sit in silence on the naughty step. The silent treatment is a subtle form of ostracism,
where the lack of communicative engagement is used to express disapproval and punishment. Silence
has the power to create a sense of discomfort and can be used as a sign of displeasure by its user
(Landers, 2017). It is regarded as a power tactic (Falbo and Peplau, 1980; Kipnis, 1984). Leonardo da
Vinci said of silence, nothing strengthens authority so much as silence . When Gottman (1979, 1980)
categorised disengagement behaviours present in damaged relationships, the silent treatment featured
as a sub category. It is used by young children as a form of control (Asher and Coie, 1990; Barner
Barry, 1986; Cairns and Cairns, 1991), and as a form of rejection

Improving Genetic Producers
Throughout our country producers are working hard and developing new methods to increase carcass
yields and better quality cattle. Often times producers focus on developing better genetics; which are
characteristics that make up an animal. In order to develop better genetics producers, take into
consideration many different things including what is the purpose of their operation. Often times
producers have many options available to them to improve genetic within their herd. In order to
increase genetics producers can conduct physical evaluations, look at pedigrees, and use artificial
insemination to increase genetic within their herd. First and foremost, producers can physically
evaluate animals to improve their genetics. Physical evaluation is often one of the most come ways a
producer can help improve their herd genetics. Producers are able to evaluate physical characteristics
such as muscle, body structure, and reproductive soundness. For instants, if a producer is looking to
improve muscle throughout their herd, then they would look at the forearm, back, gaskin, stifle, loin
and round. If a producer is looking to improve body structure than they will select cows with a deeper
body and more spring of rib. Physical evaluations are one of the easiest ways a producer can improve
his genetics within his herd.
Moreover, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Artificial insemination allows producers to use semen from different bulls to breed cows. Often times
if a bull is out of the price range of the producer or is too far away, a producer will order a straw of
semen from that bull for a much cheaper cost. Artificial insemination allows producers to select bulls
with different genetic characteristics that may not be available to them elsewhere. With the use of
artificial insemination producers are able to not only increase genetics within their herd but also
increase genetic variety within their

Effects Of All Day Kindergarten Programming On Academic...
Effects of All Day Kindergarten Programming On Academic Performance and Classroom Social
Behaviors Pamela DeBraal pdebraal@yahoo.com Introduction For many children, kindergarten is the
first experience of being in an educational setting. The number of children in the United States who
attend either public kindergarten has increased dramatically within the last decade (Clemiinshaw
Guidubaldi, 1979). There has been a long standing debate within the academic community about the
advantages students gain from attending a full day kindergarten class to those that only attended half
day kindergarten. Some critics of full day kindergarten feel a full day schedule is developmentally
inappropriate and too taxing. The few studies addressing this issue found no evidence of increased
student fatigue either (McConnell Tesch,1986). None the less, the question still remains as to the
added benefits for those students who do attend a full day kindergarten schedule to those that do not.
Today, more than 93 percent of all 5 year olds attend kindergarten, but those kindergarten classes can
vary widely (Karweit, 1992). A key difference, and one with significant implications for state budgets,
parents, and children, is whether the class is a full day or half day program. Some kindergarten classes
meet for up to six hours per day, following the same full day schedules found in the lower primary
grades. Other kindergartens use a half day schedule, meeting for only two

While it was an undoubtedly difficult decision, it was indeed necessary in order to end this six year war that had ravaged the world. While many critics argue that the bomb was used primarily as an act of vengeance toward Japan, simplifying such a crucial moment in human history downplays the very real threat Japan posed to the United States. While avoiding strained relations with the other Allied countries, Truman had to assess the possible danger of the Soviet Union in a post war world. Due to the aforementioned increasing tensions between the two emerging superpowers, an issue of great concern was if, how and when to approach the Soviets with the news of the Manhattan Project. In spite of the differences between the Soviets and the United States, by Truman s main concern was keeping unity amongst the Big Three , realizing that ending the war depended on the support of both Britain and the Soviet Union. The Interim Committee unanimously agreed that Truman should inform of the development of the weapon and our plans to use it against the enemy. They did not advise giving the Soviets specific details of the project, only informing them in order to enlist Russian cooperation in the set up of future international controls of this new technology. As we begin our analysis, it is highly important for the reader to be enlightened with the fact that it is necessary to think the right way if he has to understand this immensely valuable message. Why has nature created us together on a single planet, why not Blacks, Whites, Asians, the Yellow race and the Semitic race, each on a different planet? This will allow to them have access to personal work data whether via their work email or access to the company s personal sites. With BYOD, employees would be able to use their mobile devices to interact with customers, manage accounts, and even create new aspects of our online store. This plan would potentially give workers the flexibility to work at the leisure of their homes and to continue to work without being tied to the office. Our goal is that this will increase engagement with customers and increase work productivity. IBM states that there are three main benefits of BYOD. There s an increase in productivity and innovation, employees are satisfied, and the company can sometimes save money. Keep in mind that the benefits all depend on the situation. When employees are motivated to work, productivity is high. According to IBM, employees are more comfortable with their personal phones and tend to have upgraded versions. Theme Of Hope In The Shawshank Redemption Hope is the intrinsic aspiration of attaining one s wants and needs, and the stringent factor that determines, not who someone is but how their character is sculpted, and is hence an attribute of all humanbeings that is essential for the development of traits such as perseverance and resilliance, whereas the absense of hope can result in failure, fear, despair and even one s demise. Ellis Boyd Red Redding fears hope throughout Darabont s film because of it s proposed capability to destroy him, represented through his beliefs that there is no place for hope in Shawshank. He has such an outstanding lack of hope, that results in his dependance on Shawshank to the point where he chooses to end his life rather than live in the free world. Although these advancements like instant replay cameras, goal line technology, and better sportswear have come in to use, there still has not been that much progress in dealing with injuries especially dealing with head injuries like concussions. Sports injuries have been found to occur in approximately 3% of all elementary school students, 7% of all junior high students and 11% of high school students involved in sport ing activities. Twenty percent of these injuries were considered by medical personnel to be serious. It is well recognized that repetitive head impacts occur in a number of different sports. Wright s Simply Jesus would be an understandable breath of fresh air. However this book raised more questions in my mind and beliefs than Mere Christianity ever did. Wright asks a lot of poignant questions in the book in regards to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and in turn triggers even more questions in his readers. He captures the nature of a 21st century Christian perfectly. Like it or not we are a doubting group who question everything in our society whether that be politics, relationships, or religion. While reading Part One of Simply Jesus I had a nagging thought growing in the back of my mind. With every page I read it became stronger and more prominent until it was a clearly formed question; why did God not prepare the world for the coming of Christ better? Now of course I know that there were prophesies and foreshadowing of Christ but my question is not why did God not say there would be a savior, because He did, but rather why did He not give the people some more information. Ever since I was a child I have heard over and over again that the people of Israel did not believe that Jesus was the Messiah was because they were expecting something else. Even Wright says on page one of Simply Jesus, He was not the King they expected . I just cannot help but wonder why God never told the people what to expect. • 17. Pros And Cons Of Case Studies 1. Study Background a. Pros and Cons of Case Studies Case studies, whilst a very simple way of performing studies, have multiple pros alongside the cons. Firstly, due to the simplicity of the study design (i.e. simple picking apart one case study rather than needing to collect data from multiple sources about multiple patients), complex concepts are usually simplified greatly.1 It erases the need to collect data that would be needed for other study designs for more complex patients and situations. In more complex or rarer cases, it may take a long time to collect this data. This means that case studies ensure documentation and discussion surrounding rare conditions and cases. They also mean that the teaching or study is based around real life situations as opposed to learning from how patients are supposed to present. It is a good way to show that not everybody follows the textbook norm of disease presentation and progression.2 Case presentations can also act as a good reference point for if you come across a patient in a similar situation. They provide experimental learning and also help to stimulate learning by reading the case study and evaluating the outcome. It helps to dissect whether, if the situation would repeat itself in the same way, the same or similar outcome would occur in a different patient. They can help to ensure continued development of new ideas of treatment and management protocols. Data collected from case studies is normally much more in depth that ... • 21. Analysis Of The Scarlet Ibis I did not know then that pride is a wonderful, terrible thing, a seed that bears two vines, life and death . The Scarlet Ibis is a short story that was set in 1918 and it was written by the author, James Hurst. The story is about a young boy (that goes by Brother in this story) who receives a younger brother by the name of William Armstrong. From the start, Brother noticed something off about his younger brother. It is believed that the young boy had a condition called Hydrocephalus , also known as water on the brain. He is believed to have this condition because his head is significantly larger than his body and that is an effect of Hydrocephalus. Due to his condition, the boy was not able to do much of anything. Brother thought that the name William Armstrong was not very fitting for the young boy, so he decided to rename him Doodle. As the story progresses, Brother tries his hardest to make Doodle able to do the things that a normal boy can do. In the end of the story, Doodle dies. It is arguable of whether or not Brother was responsible for Doodle s death or not. Even though most people believe that Doodle s death was caused by the storm or just his condition, Brother was responsible for Doodle s death. Some people may argue that Brother was not responsible for Doodle s death. This is one of the most controversial topics for the story The Scarlet Ibis . Everyone has their own opinion about what caused the death of Doodle. There are some significant things within the story that would clue to the fact that something else was responsible for Doodle s death. There are some people that believe the parents are responsible for the death of Doodle and on the other hand, some people believe that the storm that came in the story near the end is what killed him. Evidence can be found in the text that can back up most of these theories but the evidence that points to Brother being responsible for Doodle s death is overwhelming. For example, there is a moment within the story where Brother shows his parents that Doodle can walk and when his father asks why he is crying he says They didn t know that I did it just for myself, that Doodle walked only because I was ashamed of having a crippled brother. One reason for homeschooling students is to ensure their child s values are the same as theirs. Homeschoolers are taught to think in a certain way and to believe certain things. Many parents have chosen home schooling in an effort to encourage specific religious values, and in some cases to avoid exposing their children to perceived cultural and irreligious precepts and ideologies (Stevenson 3). In addition, the ≈ 22 year modulation cycle in cosmic ray flux due to solar magnetic field polarity reversals is observed and modeled (e.g., Jokipii and Thomas, 1981; Potgieter and Moraal, 1985; Webber and Lockwood, 1988; Potgieter, 1995; Cliver and Ling, 2001; Laurenza et al., 2012). However, in order to understand these phenomena, it is important to understand how cosmic ray transport and propagation vary with the solar activity and solar magnetic polarity (Heber, 2013). Although sunspots have been used as a convenient index of solar activity, anti correlated with cosmic ray intensity, it has been recognized that they are not intrinsically related to the problem of solar modulation of cosmic rays. However, the diffusion coefficient changes during ≈ 11 year sunspot cycle, being smaller during periods of high solar activity than ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. The Song Analysis Of Where Is The Love The song Where Is The Love by the Black Eyed Peas is a very heartfelt prayer for the healing and suffering in the world and society that we live in. I feel like the song is about exactly what the title is asking. Where is the love? Sometimes we have to stop, look around us and think about the relationships we have with other people. Are our relationships built on foundations of true love, compassion and kindness? Although the songs was originally released in 2003, most of the issues the song focuses on are still relevant today, in 2017. Which really makes me wonder, where IS the love? Surely after 14 years, things would have changed. Hate and war have existed since the beginning of humanity. Crime is an enormous part of our society, in the past and in the present. Imagine a world that is crime free, the perfect utopia. A world where everyone accepts their neighbour for the person they truly are, without racism, without judgement, without oppression. Where is the love? recognizes chaos in a broken world, intoxicated with violence and hate. The song opens with the lyrics, What s wrong with the world Mama, people livin like they ain t got no Mama, I think the whole world s addicted to Drama, only attracted to the things that will bring them trauma For me the lyric about No Mama The people of today s society don t know how to behave properly. We lack knowledge and understanding of the world. We don t pay attention to anyone but ourselves. We don t know right from wrong. We are completely oblivious to what this world is turning into and all we are doing are things that hurt ourselves and others. This lyric about having No Mama saddens me as there are a lot of people out there in this world who do not have a mother to guide them on the right path. We need a mother figure in our life because having a mother teaches us basic life lessons that allow us to survive and be a good person. Such as to always say please and thank you, respect people, be kind and love your neighbour. I can not relate to not having a mother figure in my life as I have had the same amazing mother my whole life. She has taught me from the moment I was born, to treat everyone equally, be kind, and respect and love everyone. To this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Prevention And Treatment Of Periodontal Disease Introduction Periodontal disease is one of the most common chronic inflammatory diseases and is also the second most frequent cause of tooth loss among adults. The toxins produced by bacteria stimulate an inflammatory response in which the body turns upon itself and results in the supporting tissues of the teeth being progressively destroyed. Periodontal disease is multifactorial and susceptibility is dependent on the composition of individual s microflora together with specific local and systemic risk factors. Local risk factors include any plaque retentive features which hinders plaque removal such as crowding, calculus, overhangs and orthodontic appliance. Systemic risk factors include diabetes, genetic and smoking. Smoking is an important risk factor for the initiation and progression of periodontal diseases and a number of researches have demonstrated the detrimental effect of smoking on patient s periodontal status as well as their response to periodontal treatment. Content of cigarette Smoking has widespread systemic effects as it contains over 4000 toxic chemicals including Benzene, Formaldehyde and Ammonia. Benzene is a solvent used in making fuel, Formaldehyde is used to preserve dead bodies and Ammonia can be found in cleaning fluids. Beowulf is a piece of immense academic praise, however there is still speculation towards many of the major themes throughout the journey of the hero. Peter F. Fisher presents his own thoughts on the fate of Beowulf. Fischer brings similar perspectives to the ideas about Beowulf as an epic hero, and his fate, but he also incorporates his own meaning about the hero s fate. The third and final trial takes places with the second part of the poem. This part of the poem follows Beowulf fifty years in the future when he becomes king of the Danes. He now is characterized by more wisdom than heroism, however, the final challenge awakens the aged hero to fight again. During his final encounter with evil he faces a dragon which protects a giant hoard of treasure. Although the battle with the dragon only lasts ten pages it is greatly significant to the context of fate. Similarly to Beowulf s embodiment of good, the dragon has distinct elements that create a truly evil, greedy, and dangerous character. The dragon could almost could be said to represent the fundamentally evil nature of mankind by his greed, malice, and protection of the treasure. The dragon s extremely evil nature he is truly a sufficient trial for the perfect hero to defeat. The destructiveness of the dragon requires Beowulf to meet him in battle. Just as the dragon is the perfect villain for the hero to face, he also serves as the perfect inflictor of Beowulf s fate. Beowulf is transformed by greed and thus his destiny in becoming an epic hero are squandered. Prior to becoming king, Beowulf fought to protect the Danes from evil. In 1896, as more people began to question the verdict, Major Georges Picquart discovered a letter written in the same manner as the one that had been used to convict Dreyfus. At other times, the reevolution didn t change anything. America would not be the America it is today if the revolution didn t change the style of government. America would be a country ran by a king if it weren t for revolutionary change of government. On the other hand, the revolution did absolutely nothing for slaves and blacks. • 42. The Importance Of Silence In Human Interaction Silence in human interaction is an extremely complex construct. Silence can have numerous conceptual meanings ranging from complete acceptance to complete rejection. It can be an indication of a person s pace of thought or understanding (Johannesen, 1974; Tannen, 1993). As a communicative vehicle, silence carries a hidden component in every verbalisation (Zeligs, 1953). Before we can consider its effects on the recipient, we first need to put context to the specific interpretation of silence with regards to this study. In this case we are examining the effect on the interviewer as a recipient in a suspect interview. Silence is commonly associated with punishment and negative behaviour. When children misbehave, they are told to sit in silence on the naughty step. The silent treatment is a subtle form of ostracism, where the lack of communicative engagement is used to express disapproval and punishment. Silence has the power to create a sense of discomfort and can be used as a sign of displeasure by its user (Landers, 2017). It is regarded as a power tactic (Falbo and Peplau, 1980; Kipnis, 1984). Leonardo da Vinci said of silence, nothing strengthens authority so much as silence . When Gottman (1979, 1980) categorised disengagement behaviours present in damaged relationships, the silent treatment featured as a sub category. Effects of All Day Kindergarten Programming On Academic Performance and Classroom Social Behaviors Pamela DeBraal pdebraal@yahoo.com Introduction For many children, kindergarten is the first experience of being in an educational setting. The number of children in the United States who attend either public kindergarten has increased dramatically within the last decade (Clemiinshaw Guidubaldi, 1979). There has been a long standing debate within the academic community about the advantages students gain from attending a full day kindergarten class to those that only attended half day kindergarten. Some critics of full day kindergarten feel a full day schedule is developmentally inappropriate and too taxing. The few studies addressing this issue found no evidence of increased student fatigue either (McConnell Tesch,1986). None the less, the question still remains as to the added benefits for those students who do attend a full day kindergarten schedule to those that do not. Today, more than 93 percent of all 5 year olds attend kindergarten, but those kindergarten classes can vary widely (Karweit, 1992). A key difference, and one with significant implications for state budgets, parents, and children, is whether the class is a full day or half day program. Some kindergarten classes meet for up to six hours per day, following the same full day schedules found in the lower primary grades.
