George Washington University Experience
Being a student at The George Washington University and pursing my bachelor s degree in Integration
Information, Science, and Technology is an unmatchable experience. I m coming from the Arlington
campus and I ve been able to spend a lot of time at the Foggy Bottom campus because I live closer to
it and I would get all my work done there. Nonetheless, from it s location, state of the art facility, to it
s diversity, and prestige, GW is the place to be. Going to the same school as people like, Colin Powell,
Kerry Washington, Brian Williams, and Eric Cantor is an amazing experience.
Furthermore, being right down the street from The State department and The Institute of Peace makes
GW a school in which corporate opportunities are found religiously. Big name companies come to
GW to talk to students regarding their goals and try to set up a relationship with them such that when
they graduate, they re ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I was given the opportunity to get to know some recruiters and look into some possible internship
opportunities with them. Being located in the nation s capitol, I m positive that the career services
center along with GWork could help me polish myself to become the potential employee I aspire to be.
From my experience at GW, diversity is uncanny, you ll run into students from all kinds of
backgrounds. We have organizations like the African Student Association and The Multicultural
Student Services Center which is unbelievably useful in terms of networking. I run into so many great
students who share common goals as me.
GW is unbelievable prestigious, being ranked in the top 50 schools in America by USNews. Having a
school like GW in your resume will set you apart from the norm. Prestige means a lot in regards to

First of all, in the meantime, the Romans manufactured theaters like the Greeks yet they concocted the

Analysis Of The Goophered Grapevine By Charles Chesnutte
Charles Chesnutt s Writings for Social and Political Change Charles Chesnutt was a well known
African American author who was known for his short stories that conveyed racist African American
dialect and conveyed his wishes for equality and social and political change for African Americans.
The purpose of this paper is to delve into Chesnutt s short story The Goophered Grapevine to define
the way Chesnutt manipulated his audience and worked towards white sympathy for the black
community. Chesnutt knew that if he attempted his goal with his white audience s knowledge, they
would resist and he would therefore be unsuccessful. Therefore, Chesnutt needed to disguise the
motive of the story so he could affect his audience without their knowledge of his manipulation.
Chesnutt did so through the use of storytelling with three characters that served to show the three sides
of the racial divide. Through the use of storytelling, Chesnutt used the three main characters in The
Goophered Grapevine as a whole to represent and show the different sides of the racial divide and
manipulate his audience into sympathizing with the black society in order for social and political
change; Uncle Julius functioned as the storyteller as well as the black society, John functioned as the
white side of the community who resisted change, and Annie functioned as the side of the white
community that sympathized with the black community and sought political and social change for the
black community.

Essay On The Iran Deal
The debate around the Iran Deal is a funny thing. Most political debates revolving around foreign
policy focus on typical partisan divides. As a conservative, I may have ideologically been opposed to
much of the Obama era (and Trump era) policy. From the sequence of withdrawal in Iraq to military
sequestration, I wholeheartedly believe that former President Obama s foreign policy was a complete
and utter disaster.
My opposition to the Iran Deal goes far beyond ideology. It is the single most evil thing Obama did
during his eight year tenure. This deal makes America less strong, Israel far less safe, and emboldens
terrorists. For those of you who have forgotten, let s briefly review the main contents of this travesty.
The Obama ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, all of which I have said thus far is not my main objection to the deal. The most nefarious
element of the deal is the billions of dollars given in sanction relief to the American enemy of Iran, the
number one state sponsor of terror. It is hard to fathom the rationale of Obama and his aides when
negotiating this monstrosity. According to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Iran will
receive hundreds of billions of dollars to fuel their terror and military regime. And this truth has since
been corroborated. Just last August, details emerged of an apparent scheme between Secretary Kerry s
State Department and Iran, with approximately $1.3 billion in sanction reliefs delivered by plane to
Tehran at the same time four American hostages were released.
No one is disputing the fact that likely over one hundred billion dollars are expected to be dished out
to Iran under the Iran Deal. What is the significance of this? In 2016, the US State Department
declared Iran the number on state sponsor of terrorism. This should surprise no one, as for decades the
brutal Islamic Republic has waged war against America and Israel. Secretary Kerry himself admitted,
back in January 2016, that some of it will end up in the hands of the IRGC or other entities, some of
which are labeled terrorists. Anti semitic (and anti American) terrorist groups such as Hamas and
Hezbollah, which are insistent on waging destruction

Roxana The Fortunate Mistress Analysis
Roxana claims that her agency over her own life, especially with regards to her relationships,
businesses, and general autonomy, is unacceptable while simultaneously alluding to the fact that her
life as a femme seule is what allowed her to accomplish and maintain a life independent of any
semblance of masculine control. Daniel Defoe begins his novel, history, or story of Roxana: The
Fortunate Mistress explaining how the goal of the History of this Beautiful Lady, is to speak for itself
and that if all the most diverting Parts of it are not adapted to the Instuction and Improvement of the
Reader, it must be from the Defect of his Performance (Defoe, Preface). Roxana is a multifaceted tale.

In the article titled, I wou d be a Man Woman : Roxana s Amazonian Threat to the Ideology of
Marriage, author Shawn Lisa Maurer writes:
By shunning the male control of her money mandated within marriage, Roxana calls into question not
only the broad contours of patriarchal control over women embodied in [...] the sexual contract, but
also the more specific model of middle class marriage, in which men s position as exclusive
breadwinner increasingly limited women s productive economic role. Roxana [...] is vexed by the
failure of a system, namely marriage, which is ostensibly designed to safeguard, rather than destroy,
the interests of women and children (Maurer, 364).
The laws pertaining to women and property were not in women s favor when a woman was married,
or considered a femme covert. A femme covert was not allowed to own property because her husband
was able to which allows the reader to see the catastrophic results of these flawed laws with Roxana s
first husband and marriage. Defoe s narrative acts as a counterbalance to Roxana s in the sense that he
is presenting her story with the intent to instruct and improve. A novel is written to be entertaining, or

The Ethics Of Medical Appointments
Today the Army is an organization that closely manages every penny spent to avoid what it considers
wasteful spending on inefficient practices. Across the board, within the scope of Army activities exist
many practices that are wasteful and take money from other areas of necessity. Medical treatment by
way of medical appointments is one such process that has had to undergo a shift in practice as medical
appointment failures have risen during intense budget constraints. As an Army major command
(MACOM), the medical command has worked to convey that all sites where medical facilities exist
are all echoing the same message across the board to change the mentality towards missing
appointments. With the MEDCOM looking to adjust it own practices across its own enterprise, the
command is also looking to spread the message to supported MACOM with the intent of spreading an
understanding that Corps leaders must update policy and implement control measures including
strategic messaging that stops wasting over $ 4 million in missed appointments while simultaneously
prioritizing mission accomplishment and continuity of care. Residual cost and missed appointments.
Service members view medical appointments as an opportunistic benefit for their status with the
armed forces. More specifically, it was a benefit that for many years has been taken advantage of only
in the fact that if the service member or family member was not able to make it they simply just did
not call and could assume

The Status Of Women In Society
The status of women in a society is a significant reflection of the level of social justice in that society.
In the literature, women s status is commonly described in terms of their education, income,
employment, health, fertility, etc. somewhere it has shown thattheir roles within family, community
and society also. But if we are talking about tribal communities, the role playing by women is crucial
and substantial. According to the Oxford dictionary a tribe is a group of people in a primitive or
barbarous stage of development acknowledging the authority of a chief and usually regarding
themselves as having a common ancestor . Tribalare assumed the original dwellers of this
subcontinents and residing since unrecorded time. India is the second largest country in the world in
terms of high concentration of indigenous Tribal population which is just after the African continent.
Women play a crucial role in this communitybut yet their conditions are pitiable. Empowerment is an
active process enabling women to realize their full identity and power in all spheres of life
(Gnanadhas Mahalekshmi, 2011). Empowerment is a process that takes a person from a position of
powerless inaction to responsible action. The process moves through several stages from a)
participation to b) decision making to c) action and, ultimately to d) the capacity to take responsibility
for those actions. Empowerment is a complex concept and it is interpreted in many ways. It comes

The Classroom and Learning a Second Language
There is only one reason could be considered why learners decide to use L1 in the classroom. This is
because the teacher s efforts encourage them to communicate in the target language. Harmer (2002)
maintains that the second language users choose to use the mother tongue when there is no compatible
with their L2 level. When the teacher does not create an environment for students to communicate
naturally to use English, students may need to use L1 to communicate. If the teacher does not use the
target language too much so that students may feel free to use their mother tongue in the second
language classroom. Thus, some different learning styles can be implemented that enable students to
use the target language much more easily.
Learners and teachers of L2 used their L1 in classroom for few reasons which are proficiency level,
for comprehension, affective factor and to express feelings and thoughts.
2.2.1 Proficiency level
Learning a new language might be frustrating for students who have low proficiency level. Difficulties
in producing sentences with correct use of grammar and appropriate choice of words is somewhat
common amongst students whose ability to acquire an L2 is low. Thus, switching to L1 is the easiest
way to overcome those problems. Bouangeune (2009) stated that L1 makes an important contribution
to English teaching mostly in the area of vocabulary for students with a lower proficiency level.
However, using L1 is harmless in any L2 classroom as it could be

Informative Essay On Cirque Du Soleil
Cirque du Soleil
The show is full of excitement, it keeps you at the edge of your seat, and it grasps your imaginations.
It s not like any other show you ve seen live. The circus brings to life wonderment only seen in
dreams. I ve only seen a circus in movies, and the acts mainly consist of uniquely appearing people
with special talents, clowns, and animal cruelty fueled performances. It intrigued me (not the animal
cruelty part of course). Therefore, I got the idea to find a circus that is alive and thriving today. What I
found is sensational; Cirque du Soleil. Cirque du Soleil is an entertainment company that was co
founded in the 1984 at Baie Saint Paul, Quebec, Canada by Gilles Ste Croix and Guy Laliberté. It was
founded as a tour group for Quebec s 450th anniversary of Jacques Cartier s discovery of Canada.
Before then, the performances were simple; they walked on stilts, juggled, and breathed fire ( Cirque
du Soleil ). Today, Cirque du Soleil is known for its high flying acrobatics, death defying stunts, and
extravagant visuals. Their motto is to invoke the imagination, provoke the senses and evoke the
emotions of people around the world, (Kingsford Smith). They combine their mesmerizing gymnastic
stunts with a theatre like performance that keeps the audience enticed all throughout their shows. ...

Positive Or Negative Effect On America s Youth
The argument of video games having a possitive or negative affect on America s youth has been
around for several years. While many claim video games are enhancing the lives of children I
disagree. I am 30 years old and I can say that I have not lived in a world without video games. I did
however grow up in a time where it was encouraged to play outside and not sit in front of a televison
all evening. Unfortunitly that is no longer the case with most families. Child obesity is an epidemic in

would effectively come up with bright and novel ideas, as well as discover the subtle market changes.
The other benefit is that the reps would be thorough of the product specifications and features their
individual growth curves would be much better by the time they are in the initiation phase of the sales
growth curve. This will result in a much better understanding of the market and the product leading to
short lagging times in the cash inflow. Do note that the skills required for a renaissance rep, namely,
communication within the organization, tolerance to ambiguity, deep interest in the product
technology and extracting valuable information from the customers is exactly what would be needed
for the job of surveying the marketplace, and even systematically finding new segments of the market.
This early recruitment would ensure that they are the first to find the cellular market.
Once the product is passed the beta phase, he would already be in the latter stages of the initiation
phase, but still he should avoid using his resources in sales yet. He should let the renaissance reps
continue with their role, and since he had partnered up with Tandy, he should use their distribution
channels to broaden the list of potential customers. He shouldn t rush to start selling to the stores, and
this would put a little financial pressure.

Essay about African American Male Feminist
The theory of an African American male feminist is a relatively new concept that is rapidly growing.
Alexander Crummell, who was an advocate of black feminism stated, For, humble and benighted as
she is, the black woman of the South is one of the queens of womanhood. If there is any other woman
on this earth who in native aboriginal qualities is her superior, I know not where she is to be found.
Before I discuss the importance, relevance and substance of what it is to be not only a successful male
feminist but a universally accepted male feminist, I will first lay the foundation of what a feminist is
from the ground up. In this paper I will construct an analysis of African American male feminist

But women had not gained freedom even though they d taken equally tremendous risk through those
dangerous years. Although they were not the first group of women to have those thoughts, they were
the first however to plan and carry out a plan on a large scale program. These women gathered within
two days of their conversation and placed an announcement at the Seneca County Courier to call a
convention to discuss the social, civil, and religious condition and rights of woman. These women
were looking to change the world (Legacy 98) In 1861 a man named John Stuart Mill wrote The
Subjection of Women which was said to have fueled the ideology of the Women s Rights Movement.
Mill discussed the role of women in society during that time, pointing out how the patriarchy placed
such an intense limit on what women could do. Patriarchy is a system in which the male race governs
societal views or social organization marked by the supremacy of the father in the clan or family, the
legal dependence of wives and children, and the reckoning of descent and inheritance in the male line;
broadly: control by men of a disproportionately large share of power (Merriam Webster). His work
raised the consciousness of many women.
With the Caucasian women leading the way into the Women s Rights Movement, African American
women were not far behind them. On March 13, 1913 the women of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.

The two main characters, that I would say, on the team were Gerry, played by Ryan Douglas Hurst,
and Julius, played by Wood Hayes. They hated the way each other acted and they would not

They were like enemies. They hated the thought of having to play on the same football team. Playing
with your enemies wasn t the ideal situation for them, but they were too determined for the love of the
game that they wouldn t let their other teammates hold them back. After playing together, they started
noticing that their differences were unrecognizable and being teammates resulted in friendship. Gerry
and Julius finally realized that skin color should not hold them back from friendship, or being
teammates. Even though their appearances were different on the outside, they were the same on the
inside and obviously shared interests. They both noticed that they had developed a lot of trust and
respect for one another. They worked together to overcome the racial issues and to heal the conflict.

within this movie. Their relationship is now strong and they are built on respect and

Twelve Angry Men is set during a scorching summer day in New York City, where twelve men
(Martin Balsam, John Fiedler, Lee J. Cobb, E.G. Marshall, Jack Klugman, Edward Binns, Jack

The legal responsibilities of the jury demonstrate the second topic area in the AP Government Course,
Political Beliefs and Behaviors. As seen in the film, many jurors misunderstand their legal duties, and
some simply do not understand the concept of unreasonable doubt. For example, the seventh juror is
more concerned about the baseball game than thoroughly sorting through the evidence. Additionally,
two jurors play a game of tic tac toe, treating the defendant s life like a game. They trust the
circumstantial evidence because it confirms their bigoted attitudes. For instance, the sixth juror
believes that the boy is a murderer because of his low socioeconomic background and they all assume
that the boy is guilty because of the witnesses testimonies. All these events display the ways in which
each character participates in political life and exercises their opinion and views on politics.
Additionally, the eighth juror believes that the boy has the right to a fair trial, embodying the last topic
in the AP Government Course. He points out that despite his upbringing and dysfunctional
background, the defendant is innocent until proven

Public Humiliation Essay
When a person makes a mistake he usually does not want that mistake to be known. Nathaniel
Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter, public humiliation is implemented on the main character, Hester
Prynne. In Toni Locy s Concerns raised on Scarlet Letter for Drunk Drivers , the effectiveness of
public humiliation is both questioned and supported. As well as in Wray Herbert s The Two Faces of
Shame . Public humiliation causes a person to take even more responsibility for his sins. Through the
exposure of his mistakes he must realize he has done something wrong, accept the punishment, and

They should have the opportunity to redeem themselves. The sternness of public humiliation is
questioned when it comes to first time offenders. However, if the crime is serious enough public
humiliation may be the right call. A townswoman says, This woman has brought shame upon us all,
and ought to die (Hawthorne 49). Others believe public humiliation is not stern enough. Public
humiliation can be too serious for first time offenders. It can also be too lenient for people who has
committed serious crimes. Hawthorne writes, After her return to the prison, Hester Prynne was found
to be in a state of nervous excitement that demanded constant watchfulness, lest she should perpetrate
violence on herself, or do some half frenzied mischief to the poor babe (Hawthorne 67). When public
humiliation is too hard on a person he may respond negatively. Prynne is having a mental breakdown
because of all the emotions she feels after her public shaming. Public humiliation is beneficial
however, gauging the use of public humiliation is difficult. Also, measuring a person s strength and
whether he can handle public humiliation is difficult as well.
Contrary to the above opinion, public humiliation is still supported by many. Locy writes, [talking

The Role of Autonomy and Responsibility Held by the Bourgeoisie during the Industrial Revolution
During the Industrial Revolution the population was broken up into two classes; the minority was the
rich, industrial middle class, the bourgeoisie, and the majority was the poor working class, the
proletariat. The bourgeoisie believed in their rights to gain wealth and preserve individuality and in
their duty to maintain these rights, which in turn determined the harsh laboring and living conditions
of the working class. The indignities forced upon the lower class also caused movements that
challenged the bourgeoisie to alter their beliefs. These included the creation of Communism, the

Their labor was necessary because wages rose only to a subsistent level. It was either work in
appalling surroundings or die of starvation.
Since this hard laboring class only received subsistent wages, their living conditions were bleak as
well. Wages were only high enough for most of the working class to buy products necessary for
survival, such as food and shelter. In his essay, ìThe Condition of the Working Class in England,î
Frederick Engels described the city of Manchester, England, which was a primary manufacturing
town. Everywhere heaps of debris, refuse, and offal; standing pools for gutters, and a stench which
alone would make it impossible for a human being in any degree civilized to live in such a district (2).
At the end of this essay, he admitted his description could not truthfully represent the reality of it. The
breakup of the working class family also occurred due to such low wages. In another essay, The
Impact of the Factory System on Women and the Family,î Engels described the moral degeneration of
working class families. He argued that without a mother or a father there to raise the children, they
grew up without any authority figures except the harsh discipline they received at the factory jobs they
worked as small children. He said, ìand children growing up in this savage way, amidst these
demoralizing influences, are expected to turn out goody goody and moral in the end! Verily the

Different Kinds Of Information Involving Macro Environment
In this project I am going to offer different kinds of information involving Macro environment (or
known as PEST) information collected in the past 10 years till present, such as, Economic growth and
decline, social values and of course the Warsaw lifestyle, demographic information and graphics
projecting different data such as age range, family status and the various ethnic groups that we can
find in the city. Second part of the project will involve information about the Micro environment (or
know as Five Forces) such as local businesses, civic groups and associations, government information,
among other interesting data that would be great to know before visiting the great city of Warsaw.
Before getting into deep information about the city, I am going to first talk about many interesting
facts about Warsaw, Poland, which many people may not know when they first go to visit this city but
I do find important for people to learn the history so they can really appreciate the city once they
arrive. Warsaw, known for its incredible history, with its first settlement in the 11th century but the
city was founded in 1300 and came under the Polish rule in 1526. It became the capital of Poland in
1596, taking over Krakow. The city of Warsaw during the World War II was almost completely

The flood of 1997 started with a wetter the normal fall then ground froze early that year which made it

Archetypes In Alden Nolan s The Invisible Boy
An Archetypal Analysis of Alden Nolan s The Invisible Boy In The Invisible Boy by Alden Nolan,
myth criticism/Archetypal is juxtaposed throughout the story. The invisible boy is an archetype
character of a warrior as it is explained in the story: while still a child he became a great warrior, for
he could walk in broad daylight through the camp of the enemy without being seen. (Nolan 40). The
bravery of the warrior is an archetype because he fought battles and won them easily. He is also an
archetype of destruction for he destroyed his enemies without being seen thanks to his power of
invisibility. He was also said to be sent by the Gods which is why he has the power to be invisible; the
power highlights the myth in the story: one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She goes on a quest to find a perfect wife for her brother that can see him for what he truly is: His
sister insisted that his bride be able to see him. She promised that the first girls who proved that they

the unseen. She sees her brother and heals the girl who marries him. She is a godmother figure in the
story because she takes Oochigeaskw and helps her get rid of her scars and bruises much like what
Cinderella s godmother did to her before she met the prince: She stripped her of her high bark dress
and ungainly moccasins and bathed her and massaged her body with oils so that all the scars and burns
disappeared. (Nolan 42). Oochigeaskw is another representation of Cinderella who gets her happy
ending after years of torture with her evil sisters: The two older girls considered the youngest a great
nuisance and shamefully mistreated her. (Nolan 41). She is an archetype because she is a lot like
Cinderella; her karma in the end did her justice and gave her happiness because she was able to see the

How Is The Blue And The Charge Of The Light Brigade
Poetry comparison: Out of the Blue and Charge of the Light Brigade
The two poems: Out of the Blue by Simon Armitage and Charge of the Light Brigade by Alfred, Lord
Tennyson are both poems which serve as public memorials for disasters that became widespread
media events. Both poems also focus on describing the victims who got caught up in the disasters, but
the difference lies in the way the disasters are presented. Tennyson elevates the soldiers of the Light
Brigade to heroes, glorifying war and patriotism. Armitage, on the other hand, describes the tragedy
which lies in the fact that disasters such as 9/11 can end ordinary human lives in the blink of an eye, as
well as our inability as spectators to process such absurd and tragic events. ... Show more content on

This reflects the main focus of the poem: how hard it is to comprehend a tragedy such as 9/11 for the
people who are watching the events unfold on TV screens. Armitage uses contrasting language
between the ordinary and the extraordinary to express how the brain cannot yet comprehend what the
eyes can see, as well as strange imagery to suggest how unreal the experience of conflict is. However,
the fact that the narrator is addressing the viewer directly is aimed to remind the readers that each dot
on the TV screen was not just an abstract image, but a real person about to become one of the
statistical 2,976 who died.
However, in The Charge of the Light Brigade, the main theme is to glorify and honour the noble 600
who sacrificed their lives for their country. Even though the feelings in the poem can appear to be
ambiguous protesting the treatment of the soldiers of the Light Brigade Tennyson does conclude the
poem with the statement that following orders and serving one s country is honourable, and therefore
everybody should remember and respect the Light

How Is John D Rockefeller A Captain Of Industry
To describe John D. Rockefeller in one word would be an extremely difficult, if not impossible, thing
to do. Rockefeller was known by so many things in his time and still today; a captain of industry who
revolutionised the American economy with new business practices and keen management of what he
controlled, a robber baron who lied and cheated his way to the top with back room dealings and taking
advantage of the most disadvantaged of people. In his early life, Rockefeller grew up in Richmond,
New York with his two brothers and two sisters about 20 years before the start of the Civil War as the
child of Eliza Davison and William Avery Rockefeller. His father was con artist who spent most of
John s life traveling selling his various elixirs and his mother was a devout Baptist who John said
shaped his life and most of his religious views for the rest of his life. Towards the end of his life,
Rockefeller had built up a beyond substantial fortune but, seeing as how he was now retired from the
oil industry and had no desire to invest into a new business, he decided to follow Andrew Carnegie s
Gospel of Wealth by donating the bulk of his wealth to charity. John D. Rockefeller was truly a man
who was almost undefinable despite the simple black and white labels that most people and historians
have pinned upon him, as we examine his life it can be determined that Rockefeller was neither an evil
man nor a good one but someone who lived his life in the grey. To begin the look at

Ethics In Nursing
Nursing is the protection, promotion, and optimization of health and abilities, prevention of illness and
injury, alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response, and advocacy
in the care of individuals, families, communities, and populations. (ANA, 2010a, p. 1).
Exemplified within this definition is the inherent nature and breadth of nursing, a discipline grounded
in a set of values and guided by a code of ethics that reveres the sanctity of human life. Both an art and
science, it embodies an evidence based practice requiring a specialized knowledge base and skill set
with consideration of clinical judgment and patient preference to optimize health and well being

Acute Failure And Chronic Failure
CHF occurs when the heart is no longer able to adequately pump blood causing a decrease in nutrients
and oxygen to the body. The term CHF has widely been replaced by the terms acute failure and
chronic failure because not all types of heart failure are accompanied by pulmonary congestion.
However, in this pt s case, she suffered from severe edema and fluid build up in the lungs due to the

past MIs, all of which are present in this pt s history (Lewis, Heitkemper, Dirksen, Bucher, Camera,

This transfer of ions is what generates the electrical impulse of the heart and causes the heart to act as
a single unit instead of individual cells (Marieb Hoehn, 2013). Cardiac conduction occurs because
there are gap junctions for ions to pass through and because of the heart s intrinsic conduction system,
which is composed of non contractile cardiac cells that are specifically designed to start and distribute
electric impulses through the cardiac cells so that depolarization and contractions are orderly and
sequential. The contractile cells sustain stable membrane resting potential when they are unstimulated,
however, the resting potential of the autorhythmic cells, that create the intrinsic conduction system, is
unstable and is constantly depolarizing, which is called pacemaker potentials and initiate the action
potential that causes the heart to contract (Marieb Hoehn, 2013). The pace maker potential occurs
because of the ion channels which causes hyperpolarization at the end of the action potentials. This
hyperpolarization causes the K+ channels to close while simultaneously opening the Na+ channels,
which allows an imbalance of K+ and Na+ to occur making the cardiac cells to become more positive.
When the pacemaker potential is reached at around

Essay on Analysis of The Revolt of Mother
Analysis of The Revolt of Mother
The Revolt of Mother by Mary Wilkins Freeman, was a story of a woman who lived in New England
around or before the author s time. The mother, Sarah Penn, was kept out of the families decisions by
the father, Adoniram Penn, until one event that lead to her taking drastic actions while her husband
was gone. There are many religious symbols and actions taken by Mother within the story. Through
the story Sarah moved from a feeling of servitude to her husband, to a feeling that she was in servitude
to the Lords will and this led her, in the end, to hold power over her husband. The religious overtones

Sarah, on the other hand, is an interpreter of the Lords will.
Sarah comes to the conclusion that she is doing the Lords will when she declared the new maxim for
her self. She now believed that Unsolicited opportunities are the guideposts of the Lord to the new
roads of life . She knows that this is an unsolicited opportunity because she had nothing to do with
Hiram sending notice of a good horse to father. It is also known that Sarah believes she is doing by the
Lords will because it is a providence to her; which is taken as her having divine foresight. This
foresight comes from her being a new spirit.
The sense that she is a new spirit is implied when she states, I ve let the fire go out (528). Even though
she is talking about the stove, it is taken that it is a fire inside of her. The fire, which is a means of
destruction and chaos, was burning up her soul. And now that it was out a new spirit could take over.
The new spirit is also seen by Nanny when she tremble(s), as if it were a ghost (528). This ghost that

both Sammy and Nanny seem to become something of religious followers to her.

Elko County Should Build Vocational Schools
Did you know that Nevada has the lowest graduation rate in the country? If there were more
vocational schools, which were offered at a lower cost, maybe this rate would be higher. Even just
vocational programs in public high schools would greatly improve the graduation rate. Students who
are not engaged in the normal curriculum would have the opportunity to take classes that interest them
in the field of study they choose. Elko County should build vocational schools for students who know
what career they want to pursue, because they should have the opportunity to get the skills needed for
the career, start working towards getting a good paying job right out of high school, and encourage
students in Nevada to graduate high school.
There is a large group of students who by high school know what career they want outside of high
school. These students deserve to have the opportunity to start learning skills needed for that career by
bringing more vocational schools to states like Nevada where the graduation rate is so low. The latest
figures from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) show that about 68% of high school students
attend college. That means over 30% graduate with neither academic nor job skills (Wyman, Why We

For this reason, the Prime Minister and his cabinet have to be from the dominant party or coalition in
the assembly. In the case where the President and the Assembly are from opposing parties, then a
situation known as cohabitation is created. Motions of censure are most of the time proposed by the
opposition following government actions that it considers highly inapt, they are purely rhetorical this
means that the party discipline should see to it that throughout a parliamentary term, the government is

The Shura Council also known as the consultative council is a 264 member upper house of Parliament

Stereotypes In Cold Blood
In Cold Blood, a book written by Truman Capote, details about a murder case in 1959 in Holcomb.
The four victims in this book where apart of the Christian church which in their community, which
was very ethnically diverse, Christianity was the most popular religion.
In the book we see that Christianity was more than just a religion, it was their way of living. The
villagers went by Gods words and they would socialize in the church. We also notice that in the book
Capote creates the following stereotype: good people are believers of the lord and bad people are
followers of Satan or are lost.
The way that he creates this is by using the following non believers of the lord characters to represent
this stereotype: Perry and Dick. Perry in the story reveals to have homosexual tendencies, which in
Christianity homosexuality is a sin, and Dick represents the seven deadly sins. Dick desires money,
sex, and power while Perry only desires to be loved and to get an education. In the story it is revealed
that Perry at one point was catholic but because of the abuse that he suffered in the catholic orphanage

Sow By Sylvia Plath Analysis
In Sylvia Plath s Sow , a narrator describes a Brobdingnagian female pig. The language of the poem
repeatedly emphasizes the sheer size of the sow, the narrator and neighbor s perceptions, and the
reader s perceptions. Although the language in Plath s Sow presents the sow as enormous in the reader
s, neighbor s, and narrator s perception, it actually symbolizes the sow as both a gigantic pig and a
mythological creature. It cannot be denied that the poem s language reflects the neighbor s and
narrator s perception and consequently determines the reader s. In line 2, the sow is described as great

emphasizing its enormity. Their perception ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In line 1, the narrator states God only knows , implying that the sow is divinely designed and therefore
above human comprehension. This amazement reflects the confusion and bewilderment in the
neighbor s and narrator s perception, thus determining the reader s perception of the portrayal of the
sow. This divine diction is further evident when the narrator describes the barns as a maze. This image
alludes to Greek Mythology s Daedalus, a magnificent engineer who designed the Greek Labyrinth.
This labyrinth contained the enormous and terrifying Minotaur, much like the farmer s barn maze
containing this Brobdingnagian sow. The narrator s diction then switches to ordinary diction,
regarding food and money. These meager images increase the sow s greatness by providing contrast
and thus shifting the reader s perception of it. These contrasts also help shape the theme s emphasis on
its mythological and legendary status. Additionally, the greatness of the sow is furthered as the
narrator describes the image and allusion to a magnificent boar goring a knight and subsequently
mounting the sow. This image parallels with other species of animals fighting to the death so that it
may be desirable to a mate. This image continues to contribute not only to the collective perception

Today s Colonization On Mars
One second the Earth may be causally orbiting around the sun, functioning normally, and the next, it
could be sucked into a rogue black hole, without anyone even knowing until it is too late. In this small
world, mankind may seem powerful and unstoppable. However, in the bigger picture, humans are just
tiny specks on some miniscule planet, somewhere in the middle of the universe. The real question is,
what if humans weren t just specks on one tiny planet, but were specks on two planets, Earth and
Mars? On September 28, 2015, scientists from NASA (North American Space Agency) confirmed that
liquid water flows on Mars today. Although they discovered water on Mars, it is only in the form of
ice and snow. Finding signs of liquid water on today s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are so many ways to wipe mankind off the face of the universe. There is nothing they can do to
prevent most of them. All humankind can do is increase their odds of survival by colonizing on
multiple planets. The question is what planet? Mars is the clear choice to colonize on because it is
habitable for humans and is close to Earth. Moreover, the breakthroughs from colonization on Mars
will help advance life on Earth, examples of this include Light Emitting Diodes, and Anti icing
systems which help pilots fly through icy conditions safely. . The World Wildlife Fund, warns that by
the year 2050, Earth will be unable to support life. The human race is urbanizing the planet at a pace
that in 34 years or so, the planet will be exploited of all natural resources and space. Imagine a world
where even the tip of Antarctica will look like downtown Hong Kong in China. A population like that
can not be supported by Earth and long before that happens, Earth will reach its expiry date. It s too
late to stop Earth s destruction with the rising population. All they can do is lighten the burden of
Mankind on Earth, and start colonizing on other planets, and especially on Mars. The survival of the
Human race depends on whether Mankind chooses to colonize on Mars or not. Mars is there waiting
to be reached Buzz Aldrin. Mars will be colonized, it s just a matter of

1.Fundamentals of Scientific Management
1.1 Introduction The principal object of management should be to secure the maximum prosperity for
the employer, coupled with the maximum prosperity for each employee. It would seem to be so self
evident that maximum prosperity for the employer, coupled with maximum prosperity for the
employee, ought to be the two leading objects of management, that even to state this fact should be
unnecessary. No one can be found who will deny that in the case of any single individual the greatest
prosperity can exist only when that individual has reached his highest state of efficiency; that is, when
he is turning out his largest daily output. Why is it, in the face of the self evident fact that maximum
prosperity can exist only as the result of the determined effort of each workman to turn out each day
his largest possible day s work, that the great majority of our men are deliberately doing just the
opposite, and that even when the men have the best of intentions their work is in most

The Future For Trade Unions
1. The future for trade unions Trade unions have played a crucial role in developing a democratic
society in terms of monitoring and enforcement in the areas of wages and employment conditions.
(Landau et al 2014, ????) It has been argued that the Industrial Commission gave Australia both
political and competitive advantage and provided both members and non members, significant
workplace gains throughout most of the 20th century. (Ref) Whilst not formally united with the
Australian Labour Party (ALP), the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) has sustained close
association with it. The ACTU has played a critical role in Australian politics. Bob Hawke was
president of the ACTU from 1970 to 1980, and went on to become labour prime minister from 1983 to
1991. The establishment of Australia s Industrial Relations Reform Act in 1993, which was intended
to streamline the collective bargaining process, largely resulted in a decline in ACTU membership.
(Ref) In 2006, the Howard governments WorkChoices laws came in to effect. Employees saw this as
opportunity to remove unfair dismissal protection, while reducing employee entitlement, removing the
independent industrial arbitrator and ultimately weakening trade union muscle. (Wilson Spies Butcher
2011) In 2006 07, a critical movement came with the ACTU s Your rights at work campaign. The
campaigns objective was to build enough opposition to WorkChoices in order to defeat the
government during the 2007 election. It

Spain Research Paper
The Spanish built an elaborate empire in the Americas, covering the whole western coast of South
America, all of Central America, the Caribbean, Mexico, and parts of the United States, including
New Mexico and Florida. It took years of effort in order to set up to colonize this big region and set up
a structured system. The 3 main motives of Spain was God, Gold, and Glory . With these motives,
Spain was able to conquer an extensive territory. However, the Spanish arrival in the New World
resulted into both negative and positive impacts. Spain did not want to only watch the huge success of
Portugal and not do anything. The Spanish began to focus their attention on exploration and find a
new route to Asia, and sought to rival Portugal. Spain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s system under which officers of the Spanish conquistadores gained ownership of Indian land
(America, 131).The Natives were required to work on their land and in return they would be taught
about Christianity and become civilized, yet this was not the true reason for commending the Natives.
The Spanish incorporated their law systems to the Native American society, as Natives started to
establishing advance political system and began making alliances with one another, as seen with the
Iroquois. Having slavery gave the Spanish an impression of absolutism and superiority, which may
have lead to the development of national monarchies. Due to the conformation of new experiences in
the new world, Spanish philosophers established some the first modern ideas on economics, war,
sovereignty, and natural law. The greatest effect of Spanish colonization is culture diffusion, which is
the mixing of cultures. Intermarriage between the Spanish and the Indians prompted another race,
mestizos. With them, the Spanish brought their religion and placed missionaries all over their
territories. A unique belief of God and nature was formed when the missionaries introduced
Christianity to the

Analysis Of The Goophered Grapevine By Charles Chesnutte Charles Chesnutt s Writings for Social and Political Change Charles Chesnutt was a well known African American author who was known for his short stories that conveyed racist African American dialect and conveyed his wishes for equality and social and political change for African Americans. The purpose of this paper is to delve into Chesnutt s short story The Goophered Grapevine to define the way Chesnutt manipulated his audience and worked towards white sympathy for the black community. Chesnutt knew that if he attempted his goal with his white audience s knowledge, they would resist and he would therefore be unsuccessful. Therefore, Chesnutt needed to disguise the motive of the story so he could affect his audience without their knowledge of his manipulation. Chesnutt did so through the use of storytelling with three characters that served to show the three sides of the racial divide. Through the use of storytelling, Chesnutt used the three main characters in The Goophered Grapevine as a whole to represent and show the different sides of the racial divide and manipulate his audience into sympathizing with the black society in order for social and political change; Uncle Julius functioned as the storyteller as well as the black society, John functioned as the white side of the community who resisted change, and Annie functioned as the side of the white community that sympathized with the black community and sought political and social change for the black community. ... My opposition to the Iran Deal goes far beyond ideology. It is the single most evil thing Obama did during his eight year tenure. The most nefarious element of the deal is the billions of dollars given in sanction relief to the American enemy of Iran, the number one state sponsor of terror. It is hard to fathom the rationale of Obama and his aides when negotiating this monstrosity. According to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Iran will receive hundreds of billions of dollars to fuel their terror and military regime. And this truth has since been corroborated. Just last August, details emerged of an apparent scheme between Secretary Kerry s State Department and Iran, with approximately $1.3 billion in sanction reliefs delivered by plane to Tehran at the same time four American hostages were released. No one is disputing the fact that likely over one hundred billion dollars are expected to be dished out to Iran under the Iran Deal. What is the significance of this? In 2016, the US State Department declared Iran the number on state sponsor of terrorism. How Is The Blue And The Charge Of The Light Brigade Poetry comparison: Out of the Blue and Charge of the Light Brigade The two poems: Out of the Blue by Simon Armitage and Charge of the Light Brigade by Alfred, Lord Tennyson are both poems which serve as public memorials for disasters that became widespread media events. Both poems also focus on describing the victims who got caught up in the disasters, but the difference lies in the way the disasters are presented. Tennyson elevates the soldiers of the Light Brigade to heroes, glorifying war and patriotism. Armitage, on the other hand, describes the tragedy which lies in the fact that disasters such as 9/11 can end ordinary human lives in the blink of an eye, as well as our inability as spectators to process such absurd and tragic events. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This reflects the main focus of the poem: how hard it is to comprehend a tragedy such as 9/11 for the people who are watching the events unfold on TV screens. Armitage uses contrasting language between the ordinary and the extraordinary to express how the brain cannot yet comprehend what the eyes can see, as well as strange imagery to suggest how unreal the experience of conflict is. However, the fact that the narrator is addressing the viewer directly is aimed to remind the readers that each dot on the TV screen was not just an abstract image, but a real person about to become one of the statistical 2,976 who died. However, in The Charge of the Light Brigade, the main theme is to glorify and honour the noble 600 who sacrificed their lives for their country. Rockefeller was known by so many things in his time and still today; a captain of industry who revolutionised the American economy with new business practices and keen management of what he controlled, a robber baron who lied and cheated his way to the top with back room dealings and taking advantage of the most disadvantaged of people. In his early life, Rockefeller grew up in Richmond, New York with his two brothers and two sisters about 20 years before the start of the Civil War as the child of Eliza Davison and William Avery Rockefeller. His father was con artist who spent most of John s life traveling selling his various elixirs and his mother was a devout Baptist who John said shaped his life and most of his religious views for the rest of his life. Towards the end of his life, Rockefeller had built up a beyond substantial fortune but, seeing as how he was now retired from the oil industry and had no desire to invest into a new business, he decided to follow Andrew Carnegie s Gospel of Wealth by donating the bulk of his wealth to charity. John D. Rockefeller was truly a man who was almost undefinable despite the simple black and white labels that most people and historians have pinned upon him, as we examine his life it can be determined that Rockefeller was neither an evil man nor a good one but someone who lived his life in the grey. The contractile cells sustain stable membrane resting potential when they are unstimulated, however, the resting potential of the autorhythmic cells, that create the intrinsic conduction system, is unstable and is constantly depolarizing, which is called pacemaker potentials and initiate the action potential that causes the heart to contract (Marieb Hoehn, 2013).
