THE ASPECTS OF FAMILY AND JUVENILE LAW
The ache for home lives in all of us. The safe place where we can go as we are and not be questioned
Maya Angelou. It is proven that we all feel the safest and most comfortable when we are in our own
homes and in the presence of our family members and loved ones. We feel as if they are the ones that
protect us from the world and everything that we are scared of. It is a common belief that everyone
has a safe home and protective loved ones to go home to every night. Even if they don t live with
parents/ a parent, or the person lives in a foster home, they still have a comfortable place to call home.

I have decided to become a lawyer in the family area because I have an unconditional love for my
family and I believe that family is more important than anything. At the end of the day, when everyone
else lets us down, the only thing we have is family, so we should be able to feel comfortable and safe
around them. Also, I have seen horrible things happen to my loved ones and I want to make sure that I
can prevent it from happening to anyone else. My goal as a family lawyer is to protect as many people
as I can and make sure that they are comfortable and safe.
Family law is defined as the body of rules, practices, and beliefs that govern the home. Its policies
govern all aspects of family life from courtship and child rearing to spousal violence and inheritance.
Family law was first enacted as soon as colonists organized political communities. It didn t get as
popular as it is today until after the beginning of World War II. At this time, women had just began to
enter the workforce. However, an official category of family law emerged a few years after the
Revolution. Women found an avenue that allowed them to consider themselves independent
individuals. Since, the men were considered the bread winners and did all of the work, while the
women sat back and had no say so , they were proud to be independent.
Also, in the 1950s and

Socialization In Frankenstein
Mary Shelley s Frankenstein is a book with a message that implies that the reader will not see the
story only from the perspective of the narrator but also reveal numerous hidden opinions and form a
personal interpretation of the novel. One of its primary statements is that no one is born a monster and
a monster is created throughout socialization, and the process of socialization starts from the contact
with the creator . It is Victor Frankenstein that could not take the responsibility for his creature and
was not able to take care of his child . Pride and vanity were the qualities that directed Victor
Frankenstein to his discovery of life: He could not cope with this discovery and simply ignored it. The
tragedy of Victor Frankenstein ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the story, one of the main conflicts is Victor versus himself. In the beginning, it shows that the man
isn t even stable in the first place. When Victor wants something, he obsesses about it without thinking
about the consequences that can occur. Obviously, the creature did not begin its life as a monster but
became one after Victor Frankenstein rejected it and refused to realize that he has to take care of this
creature from now and forever and be responsible. The creature was born a defenseless being into the
world. It was simply born and tried to see the person who made him come, the one who needed him
and loved him. But when it saw the world did not see anybody who at least gave him an arm to stand
up. Victor Frankenstein wanted to give life to a creature, but when he managed to do it the beauty of
the dream vanished, and breathless horror and disgust filled [his] heart... [p.57] When Victor finally
achieves his goal of creating life, and he realizes the horrid aftermath of his activity, he falls into
depression and becomes ill. He sets himself up for failure with the monster he

Diarrhea Research Paper
Many dogs are taken to veterinary clinics due to diarrhea. A dog s diarrhea is usually resolved after a
day or two but more serious cases would last longer putting the life of the pet at risk. Contrary to the
general belief, diarrhea is not an illness but a symptom of an underlying medical concern that is often
associated with the dog s gastrointestinal system.
Loose bowel movement of dogs is often associated with the inability of the gastrointestinal system to
function normally but this condition can also indicate infection, food allergies and intestinal parasites.
Dogs have a reputation for being voracious and indiscriminate eaters. Diarrhea would result if the dog
has eaten something that disagrees with its system. Ingestion of foreign objects can be another reason
why the dog is passing soft stool.
Diarrhea is not hard to treat but in order to restore the normal balance of the dog s digestive system it
is necessary to know the reasons for the dog s abnormal defecation. Canine diarrhea can be treated
with over the counter medication and by changing the dog s diet. What can you give a dog with
diarrhea? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pet owners have to watch out for dehydration as this situation is oftentimes the outcome of frequent
passing of runny stools. The dog must be given enough water to drink. It would even be much better if
the drinking water is mixed with Gatorade or any other oral rehydration therapy as this will rehydrate
the pet and replenish fluids and electrolytes. To allow the dog s digestive system to rest, the dog must
not be given food at least for 24 hours for mature dogs and 12 hours for puppies. the dog can be
allowed to eat easy to digest food like boiled chicken or rice after the fasting

Lizzie Borden Case Study
Two Murder Victims. One trial. One Unsolved mystery. These are the components of Lizzie Borden s
murder case. The trial of Lizzie Borden is a complex one, but it is vital to discuss because Lizzie s
charge was dropped and got away Scott free and the murders have been unsolved for about a century.
Very many people today believe that Lizzie Borden did it because she said she did not like her step
mom and so went on with killing both of them. In my opinion, Lizzie is guilty because what is said in
her account and because of what she said in her inquest. One important reason for believing Lizzie did
it is because of what she says in her inquest. In her inquest, Mr. Moody asks her, How long do you
think you were up there? , Not more than 15 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She ate peers while saying she was too sick to eat breakfast. For all we know she could have been
preparing the axe!
One could say that Lizzie isn t the type of person to carry out such gruesome murders. The weakness
of this, however, is that she had a perfect opportunity to kill them because her sister Emma was out of
the house. She was the only one there besides Bridget Sullivan, who was taking a nap during the
murder of Mr. Borden. Keep in mind that the defenses greatest advantage was that most people during
1893 could not imagine a woman with such a background do a merciless murder. I personally wouldn
t fall for this because anyone can snap without notice, and I would guess that s what happened to
Lizzie on the day of the murders.
Overall, I believe she did it because of everything I said so far. Everyone nowadays thinks she did it
most likely because she was the only one who could have possibly done it and was the only one in the
house. In my perspective, she killed Mrs. Borden first, then killed Mr. Borden when no one was
looking. I don t know how she couldve gotten rid of all the evidence, but if it was someone else they
would ve been drenched in blood and would have been caught running away. Only Lizzie could ve
planned the murders without leaving any evidence.
Although you may not care about the outcome of the trial, it should be noted that if Lizzie did do

Observation Of Ivor Dent School
For my observation, I went and visited Ivor Dent school, Ivor Dent is the new school that has opened
near Abbottsfield, Edmonton. The school was named after a man named Ivor Dent, he is most well
known for opening the LRT system, however he was also the principal of Rundle School in 1980. This
is important to note, since Ivor Dent opened three other schools in the neighbourhood were closed,
Rundle elementary school, Lawton elementary and R.J. Scott Junior high. Due to the mix of the three
schools Ivor Dent welcomes kids from kindergarten all the way to grade nine, this year they have had
423 students enroll. This school has been built in a low income community and is labelled as an inner
city school. To meet the extraordinary needs of all their students Ivor dent offers regular classroom
programs, behavioral and learning assistance program and full day kindergarten. Ivor Dent is based on
the four corner stones that all Edmonton public schools follow: equity, accountability, collaboration,
and integrity. While at Ivor Dent I visited with Amber Casali, she is one of the full day kindergarten
teachers. She shared with me some of the new challenges she is facing being in a new school. Amber
is used to being the only kindergarten teacher in the school, she is used to having two washrooms for
her students, and an entire room for storage and extra activity room. In this new school, the two
kindergarten classes share one toilet, they have one small storage room and there is no

Culture Paper: South Korea
The Korean peninsula has been inhabited for roughly 40,000 years. Many significant events
throughout Korea s history have played important roles in shaping Korea s culture into what it is
today. The name Korea originally rooted from Koryo, which was the succeeding dynasty in 918 1392
after the Tongil Silla period (period in which the peninsula was unified). Korea was imposed by
Japanese colonial rule and finally liberated at the end of World War II in 1945. Following the end of
the war, Korea faced an internal battle, resulting in the division of the country into two parts: the

In addition, jobs requiring a higher education degree and intensive training such as service providers
(doctors, nurses, teachers, therapists) are often very well respected and trusted as primary decision
makers. Lay people are expected to how respect with distinctively addressing elders and people of
higher status by their age/job titles, refraining form ever using personal names. This is exemplified
through important non verbal communication patterns such as bowing when greeting someone older
than you and holding an object with both hands when handing something over to an elder person
(Stone, 2005). Generally speaking, physical contact is often viewed as uncomfortable amongst
strangers, in contrast to other cultures where something as personal as cheek kissing is highly accepted
(Brones, 2008). In addition, Koreans consider direct eye contact impolite until a sense of comfort is
established between the involved parties. This is also applicable to the Chinese culture, the Korean
culture involves more direct means of greeting elders such as bowing as opposed to looking towards
the ground while formally shaking his/her hands (Guillain, 2008). Despite these subtle differences and
potential conflict of interest, the Chinese culture is

We Choose To Go To The American Spirit Speech Summary
John F. Kennedy s Passionate Appeal to the American Spirit: We Choose to Go to the Moon On
September 12, 1962, John F. Kennedy gave a rhetorically sound speech at Rice University in Houston,
Texas with the intent to rally American support for his space exploration proposition. Kennedy had
proposed his plan to congress a couple months before and this speech was his call to the American
people to stand behind him. While the speech is remembered for its famous line, We choose to go to
the moon, it was a carefully constructed piece of rhetoric. Kennedy s immediate audience extends
beyond the people that were in Rice Stadium that day. His message was intended for the entire
American populace as both a way of informing the people about his plan for space exploration and ...

Kennedy utilizes a form of the known new contract towards the beginning of his speech to show the
audience where they stand in reference to history while creating a sense of urgency. In his approach to
the known new contract, Kennedy conveys where America has been and where America is going.
Kennedy first conveys America s scientific position by stating, Despite the striking fact that most of
the scientists that the world has ever known are alive and working today... the unanswered and the
unfinished still far outstrip our collective comprehension. While the first sentence could have been
worded better to express that there are more scientists active than ever before, this section of the
speech conveys that America has many unanswered questions, but it also has the scientific manpower
to answer these questions in order to make space travel a reality. As Kennedy progresses, he
condenses human history into a 50 year timespan with an emphasis on scientific advancements in
order to give the audience perspective by establishing where humankind has been. As he goes from the

voices join his as we catch on to the lyrics. There is sheet music somewhere but the idea is to listen to
the repetitive ballads with your eyes closed so you can focus within. His wife Andrea also begins to

each ballad can last from three to five minutes depending on how many people continue to sing. At

The ancient Library of Alexandria is acknowledged as the capital of education in the ancient world,
the vanished library was not the initial library in the world; however, it stands out because of its
legacy. It lasted over six centuries, and was the globe s first research center. Her founders were
Alexander the Great and Ptolemy II Soter, but it was organized by Aristotle s student Demetrius of

the Persian rule that had taken over around two centuries before Alexander s rescue. He was crowned

character. They also got hurt and affected on how people were badly disparaging their character. Take
for example George Washington that was character assassinated by Benjamin Franklin Bache. The
press was so harsh and vile at him and used words that were so mean and cruel. These Founding
Brothers fought with each other but they have learned how to compromise and set aside whatever
opposing ideas they have for the sake of the common good of the nation. This book was well written

Judge Gray s Argumentative Essay
To support his claims, Judge Gray cites two court cases: Gains v. Gains (1820) and Leaycraft v.
Simmons (1854). The first case states that testator intention was to destroy the will, but was prevented
from doing so. However, the testator s intention could not be substituted as revocation, making the
will still valid. The second case involves a testator who wanted to alter his will to grant more gifts to
the benefactor. But, the testator s son refused to give back the will for alteration. It was decided that
the will sustains its integrity since it was not altered or revoked. These cases provide convincing proof
for the dissent judge s arguments that since the will was not revoked, the court should grant Elmer his

Raeka Natural Selection
Natural selection is one of the greatest sources of genetic variation in nature, causing individuals of
certain populations to diversify from other populations based on their environmental conditions
(Genetic Analysis). This is apparent in every aspect of animals within a certain population, ranging
from obvious differences in color and size, to something as specific as venom composition in snakes
of the same species (Aiyar, Raeka). For example, an Eastern diamondback rattlesnake in the Florida
panhandle area has a notably different composition of toxins in its venom than a member of its same
species about five hundred miles away (Aiyar, Raeka). However, a recent study found something quite
astonishing: the venom of the Eastern coral snake ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The protein mix from each sample was completely indistinguishable from all other samples from
different populations. Darin Rokyta, one of the scientists leading the study, commented on this
phenomenon, stating We were shocked. This is the first time anyone has looked at venom variation at
this scale, and everybody has assumed that the co evolutionary arms race would cause local
populations to diverge quickly (Aiyar, Raeka). The research team proposed several hypotheses to
explain the absence of venom variation among these coral snakes, such as the possibility of a recent
population displacement or that the lack of variation is due to differences in the dynamics of the coral
snake and its reptilian prey versus the small animal preference of the diamondbacks (Margres etc.,
173). The research team is currently investigating genetic clues to determine the true explanation

The Costs Of Geothermal Power Plant
8. Cost Like some other renewable energy technologies, the costs of geothermal power plant are
mainly on construction and early expenses, while cost much less in operation and maintenance. 8.1.
Capital Cost This capital cost covers all initial costs, including exploration cost, drilling cost, power
plant construction cost, and gird connection cost [1]. 8.1.1 Exploration Cost The exploration costs
contains the costs of preliminary survey, permits, market analysis, exploration, feasibility study,
project planning, and other aspects. The exploration costs depend on the size and accessibility of the
geothermal site and availability of necessary tools and equipment. The budget of exploration cost in
our plan is $8 million. 8.1.2 Drilling Cost Drilling costs are one of most important factors determining
the costs of the project. In our plan, 10MW per well, thus we need 9wells. Re injection wells are also
required to re injection the cooled geothermal brine back into the well field. We assumed the ratio of
re injection wells to productions wells is 0.7:1. As a result, we need 7 rejection wells. In addition, we
need 2 wells for testing. We assume the cost of drilling a well is $5 million, so the total of drilling cost
will be $90 million. 8.1.3 Power Plant Construction Cost The construction cost mainly contains the
plant construction equipment costs, turbine costs, installation costs, materials costs, labor costs,

Reflection On Good Life
With help from Socrates, Aristotle, and Mill, we have recently developed many well informed
outlooks on what a good life is capable of looking like. What is your understanding of the good life?
This is an interesting question because the term good life is taken subjectively by many people. The
word good itself means morally excellent, while the word life refers to a living being. Put the two
words together and it becomes more of a decision making process than a modified and opinionated
noun. It is essentially building your foundation as a person, and can reward you with many benefits.
The good life is a series of actions in which you accomplish in order to make yourself happy, wise,
and well cared for in the future. In the text, Selections from APOLOGY, by Plato, translated by
Benjamin Jowett, we learn about Socrates view on the good life. He taught his philosophy and ways of
thinking, to people for free, as he deemed happiness did not come from material things, like money.
Socrates, instead, believed that an active mind is a happier mind. He was all about thoughtfulness, and
questioning everything. He did a lot of self examination and became completely aware of who he was,
and wanted to be in the future. On page fourteen, Socrates states ... a man who is good for anything
ought not to calculate the chance of living or dying; he ought only to consider whether in doing
anything he is doing right or wrong acting the part of a good man or of a bad. Socrates

The Classic Era Of Cars In The 1930 s
Cars were idolized in the 1930 s, everyone wanted them. When the cars first became popular they
weren t worried about the utility of the car. The style and design was more about elegance and luxury.
Everyone wanted their cars to nice, the 1930 s were considered the Classic Era of cars (Cooke). There
were so many companies that began making cars back then, many of them are still making cars to this
day. Though some companies never made it out of the 1930 s the cars are still around. The cars back
then changed the look and style of cars to this day. The purchasing of a car was different from now.
Everyone would see the cars on the showroom floors and those would sell. Many companies
advertised in magazines and catalogs, they would send these catalogs were sent to showroom workers
who got potential buyers for the companies. People would look at the car for luxury or sportiness,
speed was a big factor of the decision. The glamorous teardrop shape stayed around even into the 1940
s. Cars were the new horse carriages, they wanted to go fast. The cost of a car was a very different
from now, before the great depression cars went for two hundred dollars to five hundred. After that
they went up in the thousands, prices varied from each car and depending on the companies (Cooke).

Edward Hirsch Taught the World to Appreciate Poetry Essay
Edward Hirsch taught everyone to love and appreciate poetry to its greatest potential. Born in Chicago
on January 20, 1950, he began writing at a young age and his traditional writing style of formal with a
small creative twist. He strengthened America Poetry and gave a different view of literary criticism.
Like any other eight year old boy, Hirsch loved sports, but he also fell in love with poetry. He found
and read a copy of Emily Brontë s Spellbound and loved it. As a child, he did not read a lot or really
enjoy it, but through his mother s coaxing with books about sports, he read. Hirsch s grandfather
helped develop his poetic skills. His grandfather wrote poetry but his was very unconventional

Hirsch wrote his poetry in a fixed villanelle form yet was creative with his volatile cadences, dramatic
monologues, and elliptical and lean lyric sequences (Barker 216). Edward Hirsch studied at Grinnell
College and the University of Pennsylvania receiving a PhD in folklore. He went on to teach at Wayne
State University and the University of Houston. After teaching for seventeen years at the University of
Houston, Edward Hirsch left to focus on his writing which he began prose writing. He wrote four
books which taught the reader how to read, appreciate, and how he wrote poetry. His first two books
written in 1999 are Responsive Reading and How to Read a Poem and Fall in Love with Poetry. The
later of the two was a national bestseller and a product of a lifetime of passionate reflection (Edward
Hirsch poets.org 1) by the poet Garrett Hongo. Hirsch s third book, The Demon and the Angel:
Searching for the Source of Artistic Inspiration, was written in 2002, and Poet s Choice, a collection of
two years worth of his weekly writings for the Washington Post Book World was published in 2007.
Hirsch s books are literary criticisms of poetry but in a new way. Literary criticism before had been
very academic and jargon filled which frustrated him, At a certain point I decided because I was
frustrated by criticism and a little appalled by the way that poets had turned over the craft to literary
theorists without advocating on

(i) Labour intensive industry refers to industry that requires substantial amount of human labour to
produce industrial products. For example, in Australia coal mining is one of the labour intensive
industries. According to Australian Coal Association (Coal amp; the Community), black coal mining is
one of Australia s most important industries that creates employment, low cost fuel and important
source of export revenue.
(ii) Coal mining industry is labour intensive because this particular industry requires a large number of
human labours to run heavy machinery and work in large factories to produce the goods.

glasses they fixed, the more they will get paid. (ii) Increase in productivity leads to increase in the
total output, in this case number of glasses repaired or fixed. (iii) The average cost will stay the same
which is the old hourly wage system just like in Previous System (iv) The turnover of productive
workers will be high because of the setting of piece rate in the New System (v) If the workers increase
their output more because of the piece rate it will increase the profit for the principal.

(b) The average cost at Qy = 20 is 60/20 = 3 The average cost at Qy = 40 is 100/40 = 2.5
(c) Yes. The average cost (AC) decrease from 3 to 2.5 when output increase from 20 to 40.

Franco-Prussian War Research Paper
Prussia s Instigation of the Franco Prussian War The Franco Prussian War was fought between France
and Prussia from 1870 into 1871. The circumstances leading into the war were contentious with
Prince Leopold receiving candidacy for the Spanish throne, but did not present a situation in which
war was imminent. Hostilities between the two nations were minimal until July of 1870 when a series
of events prompted the war to commence on the 19th when France declared war on Prussia. What or
who provided this catalytic evolution of tensions between France and Prussia? Two significant
political leaders lead France headlong into the Franco Prussian war, Antoine Agénor Alfred the Duke
of Gramont and Otto Eduard Leopold von Bismarck Prussia s chief minister. Following Queen

The Effects Of Alcohol On Children s Relationship With...
When a Man Loves a Woman: Part Three In the textbook, Families and Change: Coping With
Stressful Events and Transitions, chapter seven goes in depth to reflect on families coping with
alcohol abuse. The textbook is straightforward about children with one or both alcoholic parents in
treatment and recovery from alcohol abuse. As much as the substance abusing parent needs help, so do
the children in the family (Price, Price and McKenry, 2010, p. 152). Relative to the Green family, the
authors discuss alcohol specific effects involving the parent s relationship to alcohol and how these
behaviors are related to their child s behavior and cognition (Price, Price McKenry, 2010, p. 143).
Simply put, there is a direct correlation between parents who abuse alcohol and the likelihood that
their children will develop an addiction to alcohol. According to Price, Price and McKenry (2010), If
parental use of alcohol is associated with adolescent use, then parental recovery from alcoholism or
cessation of alcohol related problems should reflect a reduction in family stress and an alteration in
children s expectancies and alcohol related behaviors (p. 147). What this implies is that in theory, if a
parent is an alcohol abuser, and their behavior reflects on to their children, then in turn the children
should also adapt the same behavior when a parent ceases the use of alcohol. In a study conducted by
Cheng and Lo (2010) observing alcoholic mothers and their relationships to their

The Discrete Event System
In the Discrete Event Systems (DES) literature, deadlock avoidance for sequential, complex resource
allocation sys tems (RAS) is a well established problem that arises from many contemporary
technological applications [1], [2]. In its basic positioning, this problem concerns the coordinated
allocation of the system resources to concurrently executing processes so that every process can
eventually proceed to its completion. In particular, by utilizing the information about the current
allocation of the system resources and the available knowledge about the structure of the executing
processes, the applied control policy avoids the visitation of RAS states from which deadlock is
inevitable.
The work presented in this paper is an extension and an application of the symbolic framework that
has recently been proposed in [3], [4] for the computationally efficient de velopment of the maximally
permissive deadlock avoidance policy (DAP) for various classes of RAS. More specifically, by
modeling any given RAS instance in the modeling frame work of the extended finite automata (EFA),

accounting and financial reporting appears to be driven by control of agency costs. These costs arise
when a principal delegates decision making ability to an agent who maximizes his own welfare rather

allow for accounting and control of the costs of agency relations such as that between a noble and a

medieval guilds would prepare and present audited financial accounts as a mechanism to reduce
agency costs (Watts and Zimmerman, 1983). The early English companies inherited this mechanism
from the guilds. For example, even in its first years the British East India Company prepared annual

Sql Vs. Oracle Server
SQL vs. Oracle Server
Dheeraj Balamoori
Wilmington University Abstract
Databases are most paramount part in today s organizations. In the event that the servers are down for
quite a while and data is not accessible there would be enormous misfortune to the organization
regarding income and good will. Thus, databases play an essential part in today s business. There are
various relational database management systems (RDBMS) like Microsoft Access, Sybase, MySQL
and oracle but out of all databases Oracle and MS SQL are the widely used applications throughout
the globe. Oracle databases are unique for having large and abnormal state abilities to handle the
circumstances like data inaccessibility, support issues, information and system failures and so forth.
Microsoft SQL Server database has the usefulness of high information accessibility and security
however is not viable as of Oracle s because it has good depth in high data availability. As Oracle is
having more enterprise applications the databse is used widely for most of the top financial companies
like bank of America, HDFC Bank, National Australia Bank
Introduction
Since their presentation in the 1980s, relational database administration frameworks (RDBMS) have
turned into the standard database sort for an assortment of commercial ventures. As their name
suggests, these systems are focused around the social model that sorts out information into gatherings
of tables alluded to as relations.

Canada´s Oil Sands Essay
Introduction
The statement Canada oil sands are much more of a blessing rather than a curse is not true because the
disadvantages of oil sands outweigh the advantages. For this reason, this paper aims at indicating
points against the statement. To understand the defects of oil sand exploration in Canada, one has to
delve into the explanation of what oil sands are as well as how the entire process of mining and
refining and thereafter, determine the disadvantages based on socioeconomic factors, environmental
factors, as well as the infrastructure and energy required for its production.

Levi (2009) states that, the oil sand in Canada could adversely influence the growth of not only
Canada but U.S.A as well. He states that since the oil sand deposits can be depleted any time, then this
availability would greatly reduce the amount of oil in both Canada as well as the surrounding
countries. He also states that the dependence of America on the stability on the Middle East for its oil
supply could lead to economic crisis in case the reserves get depleted reducing the amount of revenue
available for use in the countries. The oil sands production could also lead to the regulation of oil
prices, as it is able to meet the demand of the oil levels required thus reducing or depletion of reserves
could result in instability of prices.
The other adverse effect of the Canadian oil sands is that pipelines and massive processes of refining
oil sands in Canada are a source of pollution that pose a great threat to air, water, and land as well as
human health. Additionally, the use of its products like natural gas that is used to run medium sized
turbines that produce electricity releases greenhouse gases. These emissions are mostly produced
when steam is injected to reduce the viscosity of the crude and during refining. These further increases
to the global warming effect that is already out of hand and it also negates the gains made by society
by exposing them to the adverse negative

Musée des Beaux Arts by W. H. Auden Essay
Suffering is embedded in our daily lives. There are devastating things going on in our daily
environments and yet, people seldom realize this as they occupy themselves with other tasks. W.H.
Auden s, Musée des Beaux Arts, is a statement on human perceptions and how we use them to
observe, or block out human suffering. While we are doing ordinary things like eating, or opening a
window, bad things can be happening to others and it is as easy as looking up, to see what is actually
going on. Auden illustrates societies indifference to human suffering through the form of his poem and
by alluding to artwork that compares human perceptions and juxtaposes ordinary images with images
of suffering and tragedy. The form of Musée des Beaux Arts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The lines are enjambed with phrases stopping in the middle of new lines and lines spilling into other
lines. The lines do not pause to acknowledge the end of sentences like people seldom pause their daily
lives to acknowledge the suffering of those around them. Auden also uses bad syntax in the last line of
the poem, had somewhere to get to and sailed calmly on. Auden may have chosen to write in this free
form to demonstrate that people are so indifferent to what is going on around them that it does not
make any difference what form the poem is written in, as it will only be overlooked and not given any
attention. The form of the poem allows the reader to consider the ways in which suffering is masked
by the frenzy of everyday life and that even the acknowledged suffering of others does not seem to be
of any concern to anybody but the sufferer. Auden s poem is a criticism of human perceptions and how
we use them to detect, or suppress human suffering. In the first half of the poem Auden compares
versions of indifference by portraying youth and age, animals, and humans (Shmoop, 2014). In the
first few lines of the poem, Auden comments on the perceptions of the Old Masters and how they were
never wrong in their discernment of suffering. He then compares the old masters perceptions to the
perceptions of children and animals and how they are unaware of,

Poetry, By Billy Collins, The Writer
Poetry comes in many forms, rhythms, tones, and meanings whether metaphoric or realistic. One
thing, however, which is a common trait of poetry, is that they all carry a message to the reader. In
some poems the message appears very clear and understandable, while in others, the author may hide
the message within metaphors and imagery. In the poem Introduction to Poetry by Billy Collins, the
writer enlightens his reader with an important message that poetry is something to experience. He uses
this poem to instruct and challenge the reader to search line by line for deeper meanings and purpose
within the poetry they encounter. The reader can read more deeply by using critical and analytical
thinking rather than taking poem literally. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The last two stanzas, however, allude to a way of thinking that the message of poetry will simply and
vividly stand out and lead to a way that allows them to be taken literally or at face value. Also, the
writer s tone clearly shows in the last two stanzas: But all they want to do is tie the poem to a chair
with rope and torture a confession out of it. They begin beating it with a hose to find out what it really
means. (12 16) They emphasize the exact way of thinking that the writer is instructing against,
challenging the readers to use their critical thinking by example of the first five stanzas. Critical
thinking is what the poem Introduction to Poetry calls for the reader to draw on and is a skill that
people develop through time and experience. A report from The Institute for Academic Excellence
defines critical thinking as purposeful self regulatory judgment, which manifests itself in giving
reasonable consideration to the evidence, methods and conceptual structures within which a decision
is made about what to believe or what to do. Contingent on the learning condition of a classroom,
students should be acquainted with critical thinking and encouraged to begin practicing by the
instructors. To cultivate critical thinking, students need to be studying topics of interest. They need
meaningful discussions and exposure to others ideas in an atmosphere which supports the students

Department of Biology, Lebanese American University, Byblos, Lebanon
Abstract The 16s rRNA gene sequencing is a widely common amplicon sequencing method used to
identify and compare bacteria in a given sample. This method is well established and allows to study
phylogeny and taxonomy of complex microbiomes. In this study, an unknown sample of extracted
microbial DNA was analyzed by performing the polymerase chain reaction followed by agarose gel
electrophoresis. The results were accurate since three distinct bands (1500 basepairs) corresponded to
our sample (duplicates) and the positive control. This indicates clearly the amplification of the 16s
rRNA gene whose further sequencing technique constitutes a pivotal tool in the accurate identification
of bacterial isolates as well as the discovery of novel bacteria in clinical microbiology laboratories.

More than two hundred thousand Syrians have lost their lives or the lives of love ones in the four
years of armed conflict, which all began with an anti government protests before escalating into a civil
war. More than eleven million of the Syrian people who were not subject to death have been forced
from their homes. Those who are loyal to President Bashar al Assad and those who are against him are
in war, as well as jihadist militants from Islamic State (BBC). Social location is a great representation
of the events that are occurring in this specific location of the world. A social location is defined by
gender, race, social class, age, ability, religion, sexual orientation, and geographic location. So in this
particular case the social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Four in every five Syrians are now living in poverty because of the war and the destruction it has
caused. This has been a tragic and hard time and has had a negative effect on all aspects of the
country. The only option this war has left for the innocent is to flee to the neighboring countries
(BBC).With that being said women and children have risked their lives in dangerous attempts to flee
the country in search of safety. Majority of the people who are fleeing are traveling to Europe in hopes
of sanction. But not all countries/states have been welcoming to these refugees, Gulf States such as
Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and have similar religion, language and culture as Syria and they have
more than enough resources to house these people but are not on board. Leaving the country to go to
other geographic locations is an example of hyperdyadic spread. Hyperdyadic spread can be defined
as an event outside of your perimeter that ends up affecting you (Lecture 11/2/2015). The wars going
on in Syria that has led to many killings has caused many people to up and leave in fear for their own

The Baseball Game In Baseball
Baseball was originated in Hoboken, New Jersey in 1846 and in those days, the game was played
differently. The baseball was thrown underhanded and players did use gloves while the runner had to
go up to a bell and ring it. This was the only way their run would be counted. Games were played on
grass fields. There were not any baseball baseball stadiums built at that time. Baseball is still America
s pastime after all these years. There are some American s who love the game because it is unlike
basketball, football, soccer, or any other sport. Some people enjoy it because they grew up playing as
a child. Others who remember watching the baseball game on television with are also those who
remember watching the baseball game on television with an older family member. Baseball is not only
popular in America, it is also very popular in other parts of the world. The Major League Baseball
Player Association has been the strongest union in the US league sports for many years. As of today,
MLB players make more money annually than any other league in the United States. Unlike the
National
Basketball Association (NBA), National Football League (NFL), and the national
Hockey League (NHL), MLB players do not have a salary cap. Alex Rodriguez is the highest paid
MLB player in history. He had an annual salary of $437.2 million. Last Name 2

Drought As A Recurring Extreme Climate Event
Drought as a recurring extreme climate event can be defined from various perspective, including
meteorological, hydrological, agricultural and socio economic aspects. Materials and Methods Study
area Iran has an area of 1,648,000 km2, is situated in the south western part of Asia. The climate is
influenced by Iran s location between the subtropical humidity of the eastern Mediterranean area, the
subtropical aridity of the Arabian desert areas and its topographical features like presence of the
Zagros Chain and the Elburz Chain in the west and the north of this country respectively, two large
deserts (the Lut desert and the Kavir desert) in the central Plateau and intensive elevation variability
(from −25 m in coastal regions of the Caspian Sea to 5,600 m in central Elburz Chains) (Fig. 1).
Because of its geographical location and topographical features, Iran has a variable climate however
arid and semi arid climate cover the majority of this country. This climate characterized by long, hot,
dry summers and short, cool winters (Ganji 1968).The average annual precipitation in Iran is
approximately 250 mm (Moradi, 2004). The major exceptions are the higher mountain valleys of the
Zagros and the Caspian coastal plain, where precipitation averages at least 500 mm annually. In the
western part of the Caspian, annual precipitation exceeds 1,000 mm and is distributed relatively
evenly throughout the year. This contrasts with some basins of the Central Plateau of Iran that

The Implementation Of Senate Bill 14
Your question concerns the implementation of Senate Bill 14, which added new voter identification
requirements for in person voting statewide. Prior to June 26, 2013; Texas and a number of other
states and political subdivisions could not alter their voting requirements without preclearance from
either the U.S. Attorney General or a three judge panel sitting for the U.S. District Court of the District
of Columbia. Following the Supreme Court decision in Shelby County, Ala. v. Holder, states beholden
to the preclearance requirement were released, subject to an amendment to the coverage formula in §
4(b) of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. While you understand that Texas now has equal ability to alter
its election procedures as states never covered by § 4(b), you desire to do so in a way that would not
again bring the Texas legislature s exercise of authority under the scrutiny of Congress or the
Constitution. Senate Bill 14 amended, most significantly, Sec. 63.0101 of the Election Code the
Documentation of Proof of Identification section. Texas voters could previously show their (1) voter
certificate, (2) any ID issued by a government agency in any state, whether or not the ID was expired,
(3) any photo ID that established identity, (4) birth certificate or equivalent document, (5) U.S.
citizenship papers, (6) U.S passport, (7) official mail from a government entity, or (8) current utility
bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other government document. S.B. 14

The Influence Of Napster s Contribution To The Culture Of...
Throughout the course of history there have been many technological advances that have made a
tremendous impact on human culture and the way our society functions. Inventions like the
automobile, television, and the internet have all contributed to improve the quality of living as we
know it. One major contribution to media and our culture was the development and rise of sound
recording. Since it s inception sound recording has evolved and adapted to fit our ever growing need
for media. Thanks to this reason it remains heavily integrated into our culture. As sound recording
developed, it pushed music, one of the oldest forms of media into a constant cycle of rebirth. As
popular forms of music and its artists begin to heavily influence our ... Show more content on

Not only did Napster take the concept of music sharing to a new level, it changed the way music was
listened to and how the music industry would begin to market popular music. With the internet
becoming a fully formed popular resource, Napster was a free online service that specialized in
sharing MP3 files over the internet via P2P (Peer to peer) file sharing. P2P allowed users to gain
access to music; which usually is paid content, by searching for a Host (the source of the content) that
would upload and distribute this content for free. This meant that everyone across the world who had
access to internet could find libraries of albums from various recording artists that they would
generally have to pay hundreds of dollars to listen to. What made this so appealing to the masses was
that they could access it all for free. This significantly impacted the music industry because it had no
official way to control such a vast network. Why would consumer want to pay for music when they
could find it for free? The music industry which essentially makes a profit from record sales believed
that this online service would cost them millions. Rather than the music industry making sales from
each record sold, one Napster user could purchase a record, upload it to the service and then hundreds
of other users could download it for free. Those hundreds of users no longer need to purchase the
record themselves because they have already gained access to

Jonah
Jonah is one of the most interesting stories in the Old Testament. In this paper, I will summarize the
story of Jonah, and determine if this story is literal or not. Towards the end of this paper, I will give
my final thoughts about Jonah. According to chapter one, the Lord spoke to Jonah and instructed him
to preach in the city of Nineveh. Jonah did not want to go Nineveh so he decided that he wanted to run
away from God. While Jonah was on his way to Tarshish, God sent a great wind on the sea and it
threatened the safety of the passengers on the ship. Out of desperation, the sailors on the ship cried out
to their gods, and they threw the cargo off the ship in an effort to stop the ship from sinking. During all
of this distress, Jonah had gone below the deck, and he fell asleep. When the captain discovered Jonah
below the deck, he criticized Jonah for not calling on his god. In Jonah s response, he stated that the
Lord made the sea and the dry land. Jonah s statement frightened the ship s crew, and they realized
that God created the storm to punish Jonah for disobeying him. The bible tells the readers that Jonah
told the crew that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First of all, Jonah and the Giant Fish is one of the most unbelievable stories in the bible due to the fact
that it is impossible for a man to survive in the belly of fish. The bible is filled with allegories and the
story of Jonah is one of those allegories. Although the story of Jonah is fictional, the meaning of the
story is still relevant, even in this decade. Jonah was a very, judgmental person, and he almost allowed
his judgments to stop him from doing the will of the Lord. There are a lot of people who act like Jonah
and it s actually sad. Religion is supposed to be a good thing, but some people use it to judge others.
The story of Jonah teaches the readers that it is important to humble yourself and help others, whether
you agree with their lifestyle or

Cyber Security And Security Of The Users
Abstract
Vehicular networking technology is no more a futuristic concept it is becoming a reality with the aim
of providing services related to traffic safety, traffic efficiency and infotainment [1]. When these kinds
of services are introduced, they also bring in the vulnerabilities associated with them, resulting in
increased number of security threats and attacks. Hence, it is very important to ensure that these
services do not compromise the safety and security of the users [2]. This paper aims to provide a brief
overview of cyber security in vehicular networks by analyzing its vulnerabilities, challenges and
solutions.
I. Introduction
Vehicular networks consist of in vehicle networks and vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs). The in
vehicle network consists of several Electronic Control Units (ECUs) connected to each other using
different communication protocols like Controller Area Network (CAN), Local Interconnect Network
(LIN), etc. [3]. The in vehicle network helps in implementing applications like climate control, engine
management, transmission etc. VANETs include vehicle to vehicle (V2V) communication and vehicle
to infrastructure (V2I) communication; the combination of which enables in making driving safer and
better.
Keeping the safety applications in mind, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
(NHTSA) announced in 2014 that it will start crafting a new rule which would require cars to talk to
each other [4]. While this is a major step in making

Genetically Modified Organisms Are Safe And Should Be Used
Day in and day out we are beginning to eat more and more foods with genetically modified organisms.
A genetically modified organism is living organisms whose genetic material has been artificially
manipulated in a laboratory through genetic engineering. Although some see this as a bad thing, I
personally feel that GMOs are safe and should be used routinely. Corn for example, is something that
is used daily in the study of genetic modifications. One large example of the genetic modification is Bt
corn.
Corn has been around for many years and has served many useful purposes for humans. About eighty
million acres are growing with corn crops (Capehart 1), Corn is an ingredient in a multitude of food
and manufactured products such as starch, sweeteners, corn oil, drinking and rubbing alcohol
(Capehart 1). The first genetically modified corn crop was planted in the United States in 1996
(Thomson 20). From 1996 to present day, the presence of genetically modified corn has increased
considerably. The production of Bt corn occurs in five steps. The first step is removing the desired
gene from the organism. This step is a highly restrictive step due to the inadequate amount of
information known about certain genes needed to enhance the genetic makeup of plants (Romero 1).
Two main functions involved in this step are restriction enzymes and DNA ligase (Romero 1). The
DNA ligase puts the DNA fragments back together. The second step is cloning the desired gene. The
gene now undergoes a

Emory University Application Essay Sample
Emory University attracts me most for its abundant research programs provided for the undergraduate
students. Personally, I like to do various kinds of research, including but not limiting to Mathematics.
In Grade 11, I led a research project in respect of the negative effect created by the abuse of laser
beam, which mainly focused on physics concepts. By doing a substantial amount of experiments and
gathering related information from the internet, I obtained much more knowledge outside the
classroom. As a result, doing a research program is one of the goals that I want to achieve at
university. Regarding to the undergraduate research programs at Emory University, Research Partner
Program (RPP) is an institution which supports students who interest in working on a research project
with a faculty mentor. I find that one of the mathematics related research programs focuses on Algebra
and Number theory, which is my favorite topics among all math theories. I hope that I could
participate in this research program to train my analytical skills and presentation skills. Besides
research opportunities, honors programs are also prevalent throughout the ... Show more content on

Relationship Between The Old And New Testament
Relationship between the Old and New Testament
The relationship of the Old Testament and the New Testament has been the cause for a series of
debates for many generations. In some cases, the Bible is believed to be just a random assortment of
individual scrolls brought together in no precise fashion and for no particular reason, with the Old and
New Testament being completely separated from one another, this is of course false. The Bible is, as a
whole, the given Word of God brought together by a variety of human authors under the Divine
Inspiration of the One True Divine Author, God Himself. Similarly, the Old Testament should not be
neglected and replaced by the New Testament, as the New Testament is deeply rooted within the Old
Testament and the Old Testament is brought into full manifestation, through Jesus Christ, within the
New Testament. Therefore, the New Testament cannot exist without the Old Testament and the Old
Testament cannot become fulfilled without the New Testament. Throughout the world, in many
different religions, the Bible is used as a guide for life during our time on earth, however, some have
taken it upon themselves to edit the Word of God and remove parts of scripture that they believe to be
false or irrelevant. The Catholic Church understands that the Bible exists without error, because of
God s intervention and inspiration during its development, and that we are to accept and become
educated on all parts of the Bible in order to

It is proven that we all feel the safest and most comfortable when we are in our own homes and in the presence of our family members and loved ones. I have decided to become a lawyer in the family area because I have an unconditional love for my family and I believe that family is more important than anything. At the end of the day, when everyone else lets us down, the only thing we have is family, so we should be able to feel comfortable and safe around them. Also, I have seen horrible things happen to my loved ones and I want to make sure that I can prevent it from happening to anyone else. My goal as a family lawyer is to protect as many people as I can and make sure that they are comfortable and safe. Family law is defined as the body of rules, practices, and beliefs that govern the home. Its policies govern all aspects of family life from courtship and child rearing to spousal violence and inheritance. Family law was first enacted as soon as colonists organized political communities. It didn t get as popular as it is today until after the beginning of World War II. At this time, women had just began to enter the workforce. However, an official category of family law emerged a few years after the Revolution. Women found an avenue that allowed them to consider themselves independent individuals. Since, the men were considered the bread winners and did all of the work, while the women sat back and had no say so , they were proud to be independent. Also, in the 1950s and ... The creature was born a defenseless being into the world. It was simply born and tried to see the person who made him come, the one who needed him and loved him. A dog s diarrhea is usually resolved after a day or two but more serious cases would last longer putting the life of the pet at risk. Contrary to the general belief, diarrhea is not an illness but a symptom of an underlying medical concern that is often associated with the dog s gastrointestinal system. Loose bowel movement of dogs is often associated with the inability of the gastrointestinal system to function normally but this condition can also indicate infection, food allergies and intestinal parasites. Dogs have a reputation for being voracious and indiscriminate eaters. Diarrhea would result if the dog has eaten something that disagrees with its system. Ingestion of foreign objects can be another reason why the dog is passing soft stool. Diarrhea is not hard to treat but in order to restore the normal balance of the dog s digestive system it is necessary to know the reasons for the dog s abnormal defecation. The trial of Lizzie Borden is a complex one, but it is vital to discuss because Lizzie s charge was dropped and got away Scott free and the murders have been unsolved for about a century. Very many people today believe that Lizzie Borden did it because she said she did not like her step mom and so went on with killing both of them. In my opinion, Lizzie is guilty because what is said in her account and because of what she said in her inquest. One important reason for believing Lizzie did it is because of what she says in her inquest. In her inquest, Mr. Moody asks her, How long do you think you were up there? , Not more than 15 ... One could say that Lizzie isn t the type of person to carry out such gruesome murders. The weakness of this, however, is that she had a perfect opportunity to kill them because her sister Emma was out of the house. She was the only one there besides Bridget Sullivan, who was taking a nap during the murder of Mr. Borden. Keep in mind that the defenses greatest advantage was that most people during 1893 could not imagine a woman with such a background do a merciless murder. I personally wouldn t fall for this because anyone can snap without notice, and I would guess that s what happened to Lizzie on the day of the murders. Overall, I believe she did it because of everything I said so far. Everyone nowadays thinks she did it most likely because she was the only one who could have possibly done it and was the only one in the house. In my perspective, she killed Mrs. Borden first, then killed Mr. Borden when no one was looking. I don t know how she couldve gotten rid of all the evidence, but if it was someone else they would ve been drenched in blood and would have been caught running away. Only Lizzie could ve planned the murders without leaving any evidence. Although you may not care about the outcome of the trial, it should be noted that if Lizzie did do ... • 19. Reflection On Good Life With help from Socrates, Aristotle, and Mill, we have recently developed many well informed outlooks on what a good life is capable of looking like. What is your understanding of the good life? This is an interesting question because the term good life is taken subjectively by many people. The word good itself means morally excellent, while the word life refers to a living being. Put the two words together and it becomes more of a decision making process than a modified and opinionated noun. It is essentially building your foundation as a person, and can reward you with many benefits. The good life is a series of actions in which you accomplish in order to make yourself happy, wise, and well cared for in the future. In the text, Selections from APOLOGY, by Plato, translated by Benjamin Jowett, we learn about Socrates view on the good life. He taught his philosophy and ways of thinking, to people for free, as he deemed happiness did not come from material things, like money. Socrates, instead, believed that an active mind is a happier mind. He was all about thoughtfulness, and questioning everything. He did a lot of self examination and became completely aware of who he was, and wanted to be in the future. On page fourteen, Socrates states ... a man who is good for anything ought not to calculate the chance of living or dying; he ought only to consider whether in doing anything he is doing right or wrong acting the part of a good man or of a bad. Bipolar I disorder is the most severe form of illness marked by extreme manic episodes (Types of Bipolar Disorder). In the experiment, Understanding Creativity in Bipolar I Disorder, the experimenters hypothesized that bipolar I disorder would be related to elevations of and greater variability in lifetime creative accomplishment and divergent thinking In this experiment, there were two groups which were the bipolar I disorder group and the control group. The experimenters examined if divergent thinking within the bipolar group was related to positive affectivity, ambition, medication, or depressive and manic symptom severity. They also examined if trait like levels of positive affectivity, neurocognition and ambition were related to either divergent thinking or lifetime creative accomplishment within bipolar disorder. In this experiment there were 62 participants that were diagnosed with bipolar 1 disorder and 50 control participants that had no diagnosis of a lifetime mood disorder. The people that were participating were recruited from the Bay Area Community in California. Everyone was fluent English speakers and ranged between 18 and 65 years old. • 30. The Effects Of Alcohol On Children s Relationship With... When a Man Loves a Woman: Part Three In the textbook, Families and Change: Coping With Stressful Events and Transitions, chapter seven goes in depth to reflect on families coping with alcohol abuse. The textbook is straightforward about children with one or both alcoholic parents in treatment and recovery from alcohol abuse. As much as the substance abusing parent needs help, so do the children in the family (Price, Price and McKenry, 2010, p. 152). Relative to the Green family, the authors discuss alcohol specific effects involving the parent s relationship to alcohol and how these behaviors are related to their child s behavior and cognition (Price, Price McKenry, 2010, p. 143). Simply put, there is a direct correlation between parents who abuse alcohol and the likelihood that their children will develop an addiction to alcohol. According to Price, Price and McKenry (2010), If parental use of alcohol is associated with adolescent use, then parental recovery from alcoholism or cessation of alcohol related problems should reflect a reduction in family stress and an alteration in children s expectancies and alcohol related behaviors (p. 147). What this implies is that in theory, if a parent is an alcohol abuser, and their behavior reflects on to their children, then in turn the children should also adapt the same behavior when a parent ceases the use of alcohol. • 32. The Discrete Event System In the Discrete Event Systems (DES) literature, deadlock avoidance for sequential, complex resource allocation sys tems (RAS) is a well established problem that arises from many contemporary technological applications [1], [2]. In its basic positioning, this problem concerns the coordinated allocation of the system resources to concurrently executing processes so that every process can eventually proceed to its completion. In particular, by utilizing the information about the current allocation of the system resources and the available knowledge about the structure of the executing processes, the applied control policy avoids the visitation of RAS states from which deadlock is inevitable. The work presented in this paper is an extension and an application of the symbolic framework that has recently been proposed in [3], [4] for the computationally efficient de velopment of the maximally permissive deadlock avoidance policy (DAP) for various classes of RAS. These costs arise when a principal delegates decision making ability to an agent who maximizes his own welfare rather than that of the principal. There is considerable evidence that writing itself was developed in order to allow for accounting and control of the costs of agency relations such as that between a noble and a steward (de Ste Croix 1956; Yamey, 1962; Chadwick, 1992). Millennia later the wardens of English medieval guilds would prepare and present audited financial accounts as a mechanism to reduce agency costs (Watts and Zimmerman, 1983). He also states that the dependence of America on the stability on the Middle East for its oil supply could lead to economic crisis in case the reserves get depleted reducing the amount of revenue available for use in the countries. The oil sands production could also lead to the regulation of oil prices, as it is able to meet the demand of the oil levels required thus reducing or depletion of reserves could result in instability of prices. Auden may have chosen to write in this free form to demonstrate that people are so indifferent to what is going on around them that it does not make any difference what form the poem is written in, as it will only be overlooked and not given any attention. The form of the poem allows the reader to consider the ways in which suffering is masked by the frenzy of everyday life and that even the acknowledged suffering of others does not seem to be of any concern to anybody but the sufferer. A report from The Institute for Academic Excellence defines critical thinking as purposeful self regulatory judgment, which manifests itself in giving reasonable consideration to the evidence, methods and conceptual structures within which a decision is made about what to believe or what to do. Contingent on the learning condition of a classroom, students should be acquainted with critical thinking and encouraged to begin practicing by the instructors. To cultivate critical thinking, students need to be studying topics of interest. They need meaningful discussions and exposure to others ideas in an atmosphere which supports the students ideas and thinking. A topic of interest is most important ... • 41. Dna Sequences Using Polymerase Chain Reaction Amplification of 16S Ribosomal DNA Sequences using Polymerase Chain Reaction Edwina Abou Haidar, Houssam Al Koussa, Mary AbedAlAhad. Department of Biology, Lebanese American University, Byblos, Lebanon Abstract The 16s rRNA gene sequencing is a widely common amplicon sequencing method used to identify and compare bacteria in a given sample. This method is well established and allows to study phylogeny and taxonomy of complex microbiomes. In this study, an unknown sample of extracted microbial DNA was analyzed by performing the polymerase chain reaction followed by agarose gel electrophoresis. The results were accurate since three distinct bands (1500 basepairs) corresponded to our sample (duplicates) and the positive control. This indicates clearly the amplification of the 16s rRNA gene whose further sequencing technique constitutes a pivotal tool in the accurate identification of bacterial isolates as well as the discovery of novel bacteria in clinical microbiology laboratories. Abbreviations rDNA: ribosomal DNA rRNA: ribosomal RNA bp: base pair PCR: Polymerase Chain Reaction Introduction Physiological and biochemical tests constituting the basis of conventional differentiation between bacterial species are somehow cumbersome, consume a lot of time and require different approaches [1]. Furthermore, the commercial identification systems failed to identify commonly encountered bacteria and uncommon isolates. In fact, these commercial systems ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Syrian Social Location More than two hundred thousand Syrians have lost their lives or the lives of love ones in the four years of armed conflict, which all began with an anti government protests before escalating into a civil war. More than eleven million of the Syrian people who were not subject to death have been forced from their homes. Those who are loyal to President Bashar al Assad and those who are against him are in war, as well as jihadist militants from Islamic State (BBC). Social location is a great representation of the events that are occurring in this specific location of the world. This has been a tragic and hard time and has had a negative effect on all aspects of the country. The only option this war has left for the innocent is to flee to the neighboring countries (BBC).With that being said women and children have risked their lives in dangerous attempts to flee the country in search of safety. Majority of the people who are fleeing are traveling to Europe in hopes of sanction. But not all countries/states have been welcoming to these refugees, Gulf States such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and have similar religion, language and culture as Syria and they have more than enough resources to house these people but are not on board. Leaving the country to go to other geographic locations is an example of hyperdyadic spread. Hyperdyadic spread can be defined as an event outside of your perimeter that ends up affecting you (Lecture 11/2/2015). The baseball was thrown underhanded and players did use gloves while the runner had to go up to a bell and ring it. This was the only way their run would be counted. Games were played on grass fields. There were not any baseball baseball stadiums built at that time. Baseball is still America s pastime after all these years. There are some American s who love the game because it is unlike basketball, football, soccer, or any other sport. Some people enjoy it because they grew up playing as a child. Others who remember watching the baseball game on television with are also those who remember watching the baseball game on television with an older family member. Baseball is not only popular in America, it is also very popular in other parts of the world. The Major League Baseball Player Association has been the strongest union in the US league sports for many years. As of today, MLB players make more money annually than any other league in the United States. Unlike the National Basketball Association (NBA), National Football League (NFL), and the national Hockey League (NHL), MLB players do not have a salary cap. • 44. Drought As A Recurring Extreme Climate Event Drought as a recurring extreme climate event can be defined from various perspective, including meteorological, hydrological, agricultural and socio economic aspects. Materials and Methods Study area Iran has an area of 1,648,000 km2, is situated in the south western part of Asia. The climate is influenced by Iran s location between the subtropical humidity of the eastern Mediterranean area, the subtropical aridity of the Arabian desert areas and its topographical features like presence of the Zagros Chain and the Elburz Chain in the west and the north of this country respectively, two large deserts (the Lut desert and the Kavir desert) in the central Plateau and intensive elevation variability (from −25 m in coastal regions of the Caspian Sea to 5,600 m in central Elburz Chains) (Fig. 1). Because of its geographical location and topographical features, Iran has a variable climate however arid and semi arid climate cover the majority of this country. This climate characterized by long, hot, dry summers and short, cool winters (Ganji 1968).The average annual precipitation in Iran is approximately 250 mm (Moradi, 2004). The major exceptions are the higher mountain valleys of the Zagros and the Caspian coastal plain, where precipitation averages at least 500 mm annually. In the western part of the Caspian, annual precipitation exceeds 1,000 mm and is distributed relatively evenly throughout the year. This contrasts with some basins of the Central Plateau of Iran that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. The Implementation Of Senate Bill 14 Your question concerns the implementation of Senate Bill 14, which added new voter identification requirements for in person voting statewide. Prior to June 26, 2013; Texas and a number of other states and political subdivisions could not alter their voting requirements without preclearance from either the U.S. Attorney General or a three judge panel sitting for the U.S. District Court of the District of Columbia. Following the Supreme Court decision in Shelby County, Ala. v. Holder, states beholden to the preclearance requirement were released, subject to an amendment to the coverage formula in § 4(b) of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. While you understand that Texas now has equal ability to alter its election procedures as states never covered by § 4(b), you desire to do so in a way that would not again bring the Texas legislature s exercise of authority under the scrutiny of Congress or the Constitution. Senate Bill 14 amended, most significantly, Sec. 63.0101 of the Election Code the Documentation of Proof of Identification section. Texas voters could previously show their (1) voter certificate, (2) any ID issued by a government agency in any state, whether or not the ID was expired, (3) any photo ID that established identity, (4) birth certificate or equivalent document, (5) U.S. citizenship papers, (6) U.S passport, (7) official mail from a government entity, or (8) current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other government document. Throughout the course of history there have been many technological advances that have made a tremendous impact on human culture and the way our society functions. Inventions like the automobile, television, and the internet have all contributed to improve the quality of living as we know it. One major contribution to media and our culture was the development and rise of sound recording. Since it s inception sound recording has evolved and adapted to fit our ever growing need for media. Thanks to this reason it remains heavily integrated into our culture. As sound recording developed, it pushed music, one of the oldest forms of media into a constant cycle of rebirth. Not only did Napster take the concept of music sharing to a new level, it changed the way music was listened to and how the music industry would begin to market popular music. With the internet becoming a fully formed popular resource, Napster was a free online service that specialized in sharing MP3 files over the internet via P2P (Peer to peer) file sharing. P2P allowed users to gain access to music; which usually is paid content, by searching for a Host (the source of the content) that would upload and distribute this content for free. This meant that everyone across the world who had access to internet could find libraries of albums from various recording artists that they would generally have to pay hundreds of dollars to listen to. What made this so appealing to the masses was that they could access it all for free. This significantly impacted the music industry because it had no official way to control such a vast network. Why would consumer want to pay for music when they could find it for free? The music industry which essentially makes a profit from record sales believed that this online service would cost them millions. Rather than the music industry making sales from each record sold, one Napster user could purchase a record, upload it to the service and then hundreds of other users could download it for free. • 47. Jonah Jonah is one of the most interesting stories in the Old Testament. In this paper, I will summarize the story of Jonah, and determine if this story is literal or not. Towards the end of this paper, I will give my final thoughts about Jonah. According to chapter one, the Lord spoke to Jonah and instructed him to preach in the city of Nineveh. Jonah did not want to go Nineveh so he decided that he wanted to run away from God. While Jonah was on his way to Tarshish, God sent a great wind on the sea and it threatened the safety of the passengers on the ship. Out of desperation, the sailors on the ship cried out to their gods, and they threw the cargo off the ship in an effort to stop the ship from sinking. During all of this distress, Jonah had gone below the deck, and he fell asleep. When the captain discovered Jonah below the deck, he criticized Jonah for not calling on his god. In Jonah s response, he stated that the Lord made the sea and the dry land. Jonah s statement frightened the ship s crew, and they realized that God created the storm to punish Jonah for disobeying him. The bible tells the readers that Jonah told the crew that ... • 48. Cyber Security And Security Of The Users Abstract Vehicular networking technology is no more a futuristic concept it is becoming a reality with the aim of providing services related to traffic safety, traffic efficiency and infotainment [1]. When these kinds of services are introduced, they also bring in the vulnerabilities associated with them, resulting in increased number of security threats and attacks. Hence, it is very important to ensure that these services do not compromise the safety and security of the users [2]. This paper aims to provide a brief overview of cyber security in vehicular networks by analyzing its vulnerabilities, challenges and solutions. I. Introduction Vehicular networks consist of in vehicle networks and vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs). The in vehicle network consists of several Electronic Control Units (ECUs) connected to each other using different communication protocols like Controller Area Network (CAN), Local Interconnect Network (LIN), etc. [3]. The in vehicle network helps in implementing applications like climate control, engine management, transmission etc. VANETs include vehicle to vehicle (V2V) communication and vehicle to infrastructure (V2I) communication; the combination of which enables in making driving safer and better. Keeping the safety applications in mind, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced in 2014 that it will start crafting a new rule which would require cars to talk to each other [4]. • 49. Genetically Modified Organisms Are Safe And Should Be Used Day in and day out we are beginning to eat more and more foods with genetically modified organisms. A genetically modified organism is living organisms whose genetic material has been artificially manipulated in a laboratory through genetic engineering. Although some see this as a bad thing, I personally feel that GMOs are safe and should be used routinely. Corn for example, is something that is used daily in the study of genetic modifications. One large example of the genetic modification is Bt corn. Corn has been around for many years and has served many useful purposes for humans. About eighty million acres are growing with corn crops (Capehart 1), Corn is an ingredient in a multitude of food and manufactured products such as starch, sweeteners, corn oil, drinking and rubbing alcohol (Capehart 1). The first genetically modified corn crop was planted in the United States in 1996 (Thomson 20). From 1996 to present day, the presence of genetically modified corn has increased considerably. The production of Bt corn occurs in five steps. The first step is removing the desired gene from the organism. This step is a highly restrictive step due to the inadequate amount of information known about certain genes needed to enhance the genetic makeup of plants (Romero 1). Two main functions involved in this step are restriction enzymes and DNA ligase (Romero 1). The DNA ligase puts the DNA fragments back together. The second step is cloning the desired gene. The gene now undergoes a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 51. Relationship Between The Old And New Testament Relationship between the Old and New Testament The relationship of the Old Testament and the New Testament has been the cause for a series of debates for many generations. In some cases, the Bible is believed to be just a random assortment of individual scrolls brought together in no precise fashion and for no particular reason, with the Old and New Testament being completely separated from one another, this is of course false. The Bible is, as a whole, the given Word of God brought together by a variety of human authors under the Divine Inspiration of the One True Divine Author, God Himself. Similarly, the Old Testament should not be neglected and replaced by the New Testament, as the New Testament is deeply rooted within the Old Testament and the Old Testament is brought into full manifestation, through Jesus Christ, within the New Testament. Therefore, the New Testament cannot exist without the Old Testament and the Old Testament cannot become fulfilled without the New Testament. Throughout the world, in many different religions, the Bible is used as a guide for life during our time on earth, however, some have taken it upon themselves to edit the Word of God and remove parts of scripture that they believe to be false or irrelevant. The Catholic Church understands that the Bible exists without error, because of God s intervention and inspiration during its development, and that we are to accept and become educated on all parts of the Bible in order to ...
