Working Title:
Pantry Massacre
Audience:
It will be aimed at a young adult audience of 20-28 this is due to this being a large consumer of
similar media to my product as well as the audience I feel comfortable making a film for. Speaking
as someone in this demographic I know that similar pieces of media to my own are very appealing
to me and I and other people within this group are large consumers of it.
I will try to aim at the C1 social grade as this has the largest percentage of the population and I
want my film to have the widest appeal possible. I think this lines up well with age group I will be
appealing to as they move up the employment and so social ladder.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
I have now made a couple of film this year; an advert and a short 1-minute film. I think these
experiences will help me in making my final project film. I have learnt how to edit films together
well, for comedy and for more dramatic effect. Both of these should help me create a well-rounded
film that is entertaining and effectively conveys the themes I want.
All of my other projects have also let me become much better at planning, this should hopefully
allow me to better plan the piece, allowing me to better target my target audience and create a
better more developed film.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
The idea for my project is a film that shows the investigation of a birthday cake theft from a pantry.
It will focus on the fact that the family dog has been blamed, and the investigators will try to find
out the truth, uncovering more family secrets as they go along. It will be done in the form of a
mockumentary pilot. So, there will be character profiles as well as sit down interviews as we try to
uncover the truth of what really happened to the missing cake.
The pilot will set out the basics of what is assumed to go down and why it as not as much of an
open and shut case as it first appears, as well as how the investigation will unfold and what we
hope to find out. And then a few short interviews with the family that possibly hint at some secrets
that they do not want us to know. The investigation will be taken very seriously in this world and
the comedy will come with this juxtaposition of the pettiness of it but will be kept interesting with
genuine intrigue.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
I am going to evaluate the progress of my work through blogs so that I can keep track of how I am
doing and the progress I am making. This will involve reviewing how fast I am making progress as
well as how effective this progress is in making what I hope will be a high quality final project. In
my final project evaluation, I will evaluate all the planning that went into my project and how this
affected my final piece. And then I will also evaluate the film and if it achieved all that I wanted to it
and if it effective.
